I really like Roti. The only reason why they will not get 5 stars from me is because they restrict you to 3 toppings that are not proportional in cost. (Mezeh in Crystal City separates their toppings... where you can only get 3 high quality toppings and then they have unlimited toppings of the inexpensive stuff)... because lets be honest, shredded cabbage and hummus don't cost the same. Other than that, I love the food here. The rice is loaded with flavor, their steak was tender and well seasoned. The hummus was delicious and the veggies were cooked to my liking. I love Roti and I can't wait to eat here again in the future. A good lunch that isn't deep fried. :)

I'm really surprised I've never reviewed Roti - as I've been there quite a few times! This location in Rosslyn is usually pretty good! I've never had a bad experience and the service is quick and friendly. Roti is essentially the Mediterranean chipotle so you get in line, select your plate/pita/wrap, and then go down the line and select what you want on/in your meal. Pretty simple and quite delicious!

Yelp led us here the other night for dinner and wasn't sure what to expect. We walked in at about 7:30 PM and the place was empty. Two employees were working and we vacillated between staying and walking out. Why would such a highly rated place be completely empty? Anyways, all of the five-star reviews convinced me to stay, so we did. We had two of the favorites and two of the rice plates. I'm not going into detail for this review because we were all less than impressed. The food was tasty but cold. The rice was dry, the chicken was overcooked, and everything else was cold--and not room temperature cold, but like resting on an ice tray cold. The music was random. The air was turned down too low. Overall, not a pleasant experience and we will not be returning. The employees were also cleaning up while we were eating and making jokes, using profanity as descriptors while talking loudly from the door to the cash register. Not professional at all.

I happened to be in Rosslyn on a Saturday evening and had a bit of time to get some food for dinner. Roti was conveniently located and I love Mediterranean food so I decided to give it a try. I guess they get most of their business during the week because the location has a bunch of seating but the place was completely empty when I arrived, and only a few people walked in as I was eating. The menu is pretty simple - you can get a sandwich, rice plate, or salad with your choice of protein and sides/sauces/toppings. Since it was my first visit and I didn't really know what to get, I tried one of the recommended combinations - the "Best Plate Ever", which had chicken, hummus, veggies and pita over rice. It was plenty of food for $8, and despite the lack of other customers, everything was fresh and tasty. Really wish they had one of these near my office, I would probably get lunch here regularly if I was in the area.

Stopped in here one night for a quick reChicken kabob wrap and braved 20 something degrees to do so. Because of the cold, only half the family came with us, but the part that did venture out of the warm hotel room certainly enjoyed it. My youngest got the Chicken Roti Pita and although it was wrapped like a Jimmy Johns Sandwhich and made almost as fast, she throroughly enjoyed it. My middle daugher had the same dish and she was equally pleased. She especially like the sides she chose. I picked the Best Plate Ever and it was delicious, with two chicken kabobs and wonderful rice. Only down side was the Hummus. Maybe I am used to a different style. but to me it needed some lemon juice and salt, as it was just not that flavorful. Service? Service was fantastic and the waiter who waited on my girls took his time with them and made them feel special. In fact, service was so good I would take my girls there once a week, they were that impressed.

A nice, fast option for lunch. Build your own Mediterranean style bowl, wrap, or salad. The toppings look and taste fresh. The only downside is you're limited to just three toppings/sides, which includes options such a hummus, feta, olives, vegetables, couscous, cabbage/carrots, etc. Point being all toppings/sides aren't equal so I think a little refining should be done

  • Saam T.

Love the food here. It is like a Mediterranean chipotle style, u can get a salad, rice plate or pita! Very much like cava grill in Tyson's corner. I always get the salad with the chicken kabob, which is boneless white meat. They also have chicken roti, marinated boneless dark meat. Both are very flavorful. Falafel is nice moist and tasty too. Toppings galore! They have hummus, veggies, pickled veggies, eggplant, olives, fetta, and more. Many different dressings, the yogurt and hot are the best. The restaurant is nice and clean, but the cooking area leave something to be desired. It appears a little dirty and looks like it needs a good scrubbing. When they cook the chicken, they use a little spray bottle of either oil or water, it looks like cleaner when they are using it, just weird. The food is wonderful, just don't watch them on the grill, it makes the food less appetizing.

Come in at almost 9PM, just before closing. First time here, food was great and the staff was very nice and friendly.

I recently found the nutritional info on their site. It lets you build you meal so you can see...my beloved falafel sandwich has over 1400mg of sodium. So much for healthier alternative...http://roti.com/nutrition-calc/

I was looking for a quick place for lunch, and happened to walk in here. The food was delicious! I ordered a rice plate with falafel, and loved how much food they put on it. As a vegetarian, I ordered hummus, an olive salad, and an eggplant dish. All of the plates come with a pita. Other options include both a sandwich, and a wrap, which can be filled with falafel or chicken, among other things. This is an order at the counter restaurant, but the service was very good and the people there nice. My family and I enjoyed the experience and I would definitely recommend as a quick lunch to anyone who likes Mediterranean.

I ordered the chicken laffa wrap and it was delicious. Especially loved the hummus, cous cous, and variety of sauces. Chicken was a tad dry, but everything else made up for it. The manager Carmen was beyond friendly and answered all my questions (was a 1st time customer!) and proceeded to put together my order himself and also offer my entire group wifi access. Loved the customer service!

Roti is the Chipotle version of Mediterranean; which isn't necessarily a bad thing. The menu choices are simple so I went with the pita. You get to choose the various add-ins as you go down the line and by the end you can't wait to try a bite. My experience was a good one. The ingredients were all fresh, the flavors all worked well, and I was a happy camper when I left. So if you don't have much time but still want to get your Med on, Roti surely works.

So the food is pretty basic but so delicious and filling when you have been out hiking around town all day. I love getting the rice bowl with hummus, chicken, olives and a the tomato/cucumber mix. It makes for a great relatively light but filling mid-day meal. I really hope to see them branch out into Texas eventually! Also, the managers here have been awesome, very attentive and always welcoming, especially if families come in with their kids. The food gets it 4 stars, the managers gets it 5.

Might never have tried this place if we hadn't had free falafel coupons! Incredible food and customer service that went above and beyond the call of duty. My husband and I came in and Lou noticed us studying the menu. He immediately welcomed us and walked us through the menu. Via and Suave served us and ensured our meat was cooked precisely as ordered. They piled our salads high with fresh ingredients and we were blown away by the range of flavor and cohesiveness of everything we added. We will be back!! Thanks, Roti, we're hooked.

Honestly I tried so hard to like this place, First time I came there, the seating area was busy, and few people in the line, I got excited, hopefully good is gonna be good. The portions are small, the personnel was apathetic, slow, felt like they doing you a favor, and they forgot about pita bread, which supposed to come with a meal. I came back on Sunday for another chance. Not only service was the same, the ingredients were not fresh. Tomato/cucumber salad, couscous weren't fresh, chicken was dry and salty , pita was cold. Overall it was just BAD. How disappointing!

  • William T.

This is a great place to go for lunch in Rosslyn. It is a lot of food, which is somewhat healthy, and is cheaper than many places around. Also the service is very quick even if there is a long line. The only down side is seating can get packed / cramped, and because of the quick service if you are new to the restaurant (or don't know what you want) then you can feel rushed. I love their rice bowl with chicken kabob, tahini sauce and option of sides. It is one of the better brick and mortar restaurants in Rosslyn. I would recommend this place if you like Mediterranean food that is filling, but light on the wallet.

Love the food. There are other dishes without falafel, but why bother. Vegetarians and meat eaters will do just fine here.

  • Dwight S.

I've been here 10 or 15 times, fast service, food is good, price is excellent, like $7 or $8 for lunch or a light dinner. Get your Kalamata olives, chicken is well flavored.

  • Jonathan E.

I have eaten here 5 times and every time it's fantastic. It's not expensive but it is very good. The staff are always friendly and helpful. The food is always fresh and very flavorful. What a great find to have this parked in my backyard. If your looking for fast and good...try it out. Warning..it's habit forming.

  • Robert H.

The food was great :) I had a rice plate with chicken, hummus, veg and cous cous. This plate had great flavor and will not disappoint you. I treated myself to a side order of falafels- they were great. This was a great little stop and for under $20 for two people this was a good little find.

Enjoyed excellent fast food Mediterranean at Union Station while traveling. Great beet salad, hummus, pita and falafel. Despite a long line, it moved super fast and we were able to eat healthy while being on the go.

  • Miss B.

I like Roti (3-3.5 star experience). I just don't like this location (2.5 stars). If you visit outside of weekday lunch rush, expect service to be poor (5 minute wait for staff to stop their convo and acknowledge you) and the food on the line is not always fresh (lunch leftovers?). I was served salmon that was sitting in the warming tray for hours and devoid of any moisture. To top it off, the Rosslyn location is extremely conservative with the portions. Go to Roti in Foggy Bottom or Union Station; I've had no problems with those locations. Plus they're always willing to comp you a drink when they need to cook an item for your order. Rosslyn, work on your table side manners and stop cooking the heck out of the meat--one death and proper cooking is sufficient!

Decent local that may be a chain. Pre-made line service is fine and decent value.

  • Mike D.

This is a pretty good spot for a quick meal. The place was clean and we'll air conditioned which was much needed after a 5 mile walk around DC. The staff was very friendly and helpful helping us figure out how to order. It is is a build your own plate place similar to a chipotle or subway but with middle eastern food. Everything tasted decent but was room temperature. I wish the chicken and toppings were warmer. I would certainly grab this again in a rush but would not choose it over some sit down spots with similar food

  • Daniel T.

I love Roti! It's basically a Mediterranean version of Chipotle. Similar to Cava Grill. This location is the closest to me - great food and great service. I came on a late evening so I don't know how they are during lunch hours but I expect them to be super busy - especially since they are in Rosslyn. Right by the metro in a busy area. The food is good, chickpeas, pita, healthy/good-tasting food, what more can you ask for?!

    (4)
  • Illeah L.

I love Roti. The ingredients are typically always fresh and the service in DC is usually very quick and polite. However, at this particular location, I wanted to place an online order - as I proceed through my order I realize I am only able to pay online with my credit card. Unlike other vendors Roti does not offer the "pay in store" option. So I call the location, they hang up on me which I assumed was by accident, then they call me back and I inquire as to why they don't have have the pay in store option - the guy replies with "oh that's just the way it is". OKAY - so I asked if I could order with him, he says "well we don't usually do this, but i'll do it this one time" OKAY - moving on he didnt even ask for my name for the order, or the sauces I wanted. Overall, very bad customer service. They should probably re-train whoever they have on the frontine, because customer service is usually a deal-breaker for most.

Just walked in and ordered the b.p.e. but the chicken looked a little old. So I asked the manager about it and he said it was about an hour old. He then offered to cook me a fresh batch. Was extremely nice about it too! Have to give them 4 stars simply offering to cook me a fresh batch of chicken!

  • Mackenzie D.

Excellent fast casual take on Mediterranean Food! Like Chipotle, only the choices are hummus, tzaziki sauce, eggplant, feta, etc. The staff working the line had no problem adding larger portions of the toppings I wanted.

Me and my friend Kristen ate lunch there today!! Great food and great customer service EVER..The general manager, Cameron is awesome and made sure our experience was awesome!!!!

  • Andrew M.

Pretty good and a pretty good deal, but it suffers in comparison to Cava Mezze, in my opinion. The falafel was good, but not quite as savory as Cava's; the pita was fine, but not as warm and soft as Cava's; you get the picture. I did like the red pepper sauce and would certainly return for lunch without thinking twice.

  • Shahrzad R.

Tasty! I like this place. They even have a cute little table or to set outside for nice weather. They give you a lot of toppings and if you ask for more they will double it. The one thing I did notice is they store their oils etc in these clear plastic bottles that look like you would store house cleaners in them. They could class it up a little with a nice bottle. Kills your appetite a little. Do not skimp on the hummus bc I did recently and I regretted it!

  • Lily H.

We came after 7 pm on a Friday and there was one patron eating. Definitely seems like it's popular for lunch, and the review that said it was a Mediterranean Chipotle was spot on. My husband got the Best Plate Ever and I got a rice plate with falafel, which I enjoyed more than his chicken kabab. The pita is nothing to write home about, but the eggplant was tasty and spicy, and all the sides just seemed to disappear into my mouth alongside the rice. Thumbs up from the two of us!

    (5)
  • J T.

Love this place for lunch! I get the salad bowl (you can ask for rice to be added to it), steak as my protein, with hummus, tomatoes, and feta cheese. As for the sauce, I get the garlic sauce and mix it with a little of the hot sauce, its spicy but not overwhelmingly hot.

  • William F.

Roti is basically like Chipotle for Mediterranean food. The chicken roti is seasoned to perfection and I only wish I had their spice rub recipe. I tend to go for the "create your own" salad which includes whatever toppings and meat you choose and of course a little bit of lettuce. It comes to about $9-$10 and they usually pile it on. It also comes with a little puffed pita to scrape up the good stuff. The only negative comment I have about Roti is that there food, at times, tends to sit out for a while. As a result, the chicken has been dry for me and the hummus has developed this dark yellow crust over it which isn't appetizing at all. Mediterranean food should be extremely fresh and simple, so hopefully they can get better at maintaining consistency at this location. Overall, I just love the flavor of all things Mediterranean. When you can offer decent quality and flavor with the convenience of fast food? Yes please.

Tasty and authentic food. Service is super efficient since it's Chipotle-style. Nice decor.

  • Crosby R.

Roti is delish! I love the chicken salad... Great toppings such as grilled veggies, couscous, cucumber salad, etc make it seem more like a well rounded meal. I love th shug sauce -- great heat! Be sure to ask for the pita on the side and you can make mini gyros! I have never had to wait in line for longer than 5 minutes and the employees are very friendly.

  • Loren B.

So you know how Vortex is the Coldstone of Burgers...Merzi is the Indian food of Chipotle....and now Roti Grill is the Chipotle of Mediterranean food!! (kind of repetitive but when you get there you'll see it's the exact same setup) and the food is so AMAZING! Maybe cause I was hungry..maybe cause the guy behind the counter flirted with me and gave me more food and free drinks...I'm not quite sure but you should go....now...today for lunch because it is YUMMY!!!! Oh my goodness, I may have to fly back to DC this weekend to get some.. Now I believe I got the combo....chicken, steak, rice, cous cous, tomato, and cucumber...so tasty so perfect...fresh and delicious! Note: I didn't know what sauce to get...I just picked a spicy one and called it a day. So good luck and let me know how you love it.

thought this was a great concept and glad they have one in nyc now! got the chicken salad w/o the chopping - who needs to eat baby food quite honestly? the chicken was moist and flavorful (unlike most grilled chicken that comes w/any salad) and it came w/the cucumbers, tomatoes, cous cous, feta and olives (I avoided onions). and all that was $8.75 (incl crazy tax) so it was a good experience. servers were helpful and friendly - looking forward to seeing this succeed in nyc!

Good, fast, flavorful. Perfect spot to grab a quick lunch or dinner. Portions are hearty and can't beat the price. You can load up the salads with all kinds of delightful veggies and sides. Chicken roti is delicious.

Great light sandwiches and sides! Quick service and great location for some Mediterranean food!

I had the chicken roti salad with the dill and romesco sauces on the side. The salad was tasty; the chicken was moist, the tomato/cucumber salad was fresh and the olives gave it a nice saltiness. The dill sauce was my favorite, very flavorful! Hubs had the sultan sandwich and he said it had a good kick to it! Overall a nice filling lunch.

Yes, Roti is like a Mediterranean Chipotle and there is nothing wrong with that! I usually get the falafel plate and most of the sides I've tried are pretty good. Would recommend for a quick, tasty lunch.

Mediterranean Chipotle! With Roti being a stepping stone away from my place, I decided to give it a try, especially since I had heard a lot about it in the news/papers etc. They are a fast casual dining restaurant serving Mediterranean food. You can get salads, pita sandwiches, rice plates and add a protein - chicken, steak or falafel (or veggies), with some sauce(s) and greens. On my first dining experience, I decided to try the sandwich wrap (you can also get a pita pocket) with steak, purple cabbage slaw, Tahini and S'hug sauce, and onions. I was advised that the S'hug sauce was hot hence decided to mix it up, maybe that is why I didn't find it that spicy. The wrap was really good, steak meat was tender and juicy. I would pick this restaurant as an option any day over Chipotle (Mediterranean food all the way, plus it's healthier as they use olive oil for preparation). I also got the pita chips which were so so. The wrap was a little small for my growling belly and the price was about $9 (similar to Chipotle/Qdoba), however a place where I can get Mediterranean food on the go is definitely worth it. This store is big enough to accommodate lunch traffic, parking is on the street, and the staff seem friendly enough to give you time to make your selections.

Really impressed with the quality of the ingredients, quick service, and vegetarian options. Voted best lunch for a reason. Its a great way to get a healthy meal on the run.

Do yourself a favor. Don't go for dinner. The chicken kabob was extremely dry and stale, and the rice was crunchy. The staff couldn't be bothered to stop their conversation to serve us. I haven't seen such unmotivated people at KFC! Not only that, one employee had a cup full of what appeared to be wine. Explains a lot...

Sorry, just realized this was for the wrong location. Thank you to the management for responding! I'll delete the review from a laptop, because I can't seem to figure out how to do it on mobile.

Same great food that I have eaten several times the Fst location in DC. Parking is much easer...so for the NOVA commuters its great way to grab dinner and jump back on 66!! Fresh Fresh Fresh.....The wrap or Sultan is the way I go for me...chicken roti with everything....The Shug sauce is delish...but be careful if your sensitive to hot and spicy.....along with the Tzatziki sauce its works really well the delicious veggies and chicken...great concept....Great Food.....

  • Bro H.

This place seems like it's solid, and gives you a lot of reasonably healthy food for cheap, but it really suffers during dinnertime because the food seemingly just sits out forever. I'm sure it's good for lunch, but since I've never worked near here, I haven't had the pleasure of trying it. If you can't serve dinner that doesn't look crusty, I can't give you more than three stars.

For a casual quick service chain, Roti is a reliably good establishment and a cross between a Chipotle and a Pita Pit. The menu is not extensive but allows for customization of either a sandwich, rice plate, or salad. I opted for a pita pocket with chicken roti and the sauce, sides, and toppings that appealed to me. My pita was prepared in front of me and looked (and was) quite appetizing and filling. My only complaint is really the service--there needs to be more people working the counter or else more timely food preparation. There were no readily available pita pockets so several of us has to wait several minutes for them to be prepared/heated, which was somewhat inconvenient, especially since there was a respectable line. Aside from that, everything was good. I'd definitely suggest Roti to someone wanting a quick, and filling bite to eat that is a less run of the mill than similar concept venues.

  • Brandon F.

I always get salads when I eat at Roti. I can skip the carbs in the rice or bread, but also have as many side items as I would like. Everything always seems to be fresh and I like that I can watch it being made. I also use their app to earn points for free Roti and get their email updates about specials

We were looking for a lunch place to kill some time before a meeting and we came upon Roti. Not being a big fan of Mediterranean I was a bit hesitant but decided to go along with the group. Upon entering, you realize it's set up similar to Chipotle but with Mediterranean food. Piada in Columbus, OH does the same thing but with Italian so obviously this style of restaurant has become very popular. I ordered the salad with chicken. I choose tomatoes and feta cheese and a few other veggies and rounded it out with the dill, yogurt & cucumber dressing. The whole dish was quite tasty. Very fresh and light and great flavor. They include pita bread with the salad. The bread was okay but the salad was the real star of the meal. Good job, Roti. You may get me to change my opinion of Mediterranean food!

  • Kerrie N.

Yesterday was my first time trying roti. I heard so many good things about them so I decided to give them a shot! I'm very happy that I did. The setup is sort of reminiscent of Chipotle (i.e. you can choose a rice platter and then go down the line to decide what type of meat/veggie you want). I chose the rice platter with steak, Cous-Cous, red cabbage slaw, Spanish eggplant and roasted red pepper sauce. I had them add some of the S'hug to my rice- it's SUPER spicy! Consider yourself warned :-). My husband had the kabob style chicken with rice, mixed veggies and double Cous-Cous. Both platters came with some delicious pita bread! Overall, the food is very good. Perfectly seasoned! The price is right...not too expensive, which is always a plus. Two platter and two bottles drinks...~$22. Not bad! My only complaint was that the chicken was somewhat dry...like it was overcooked. The flavor was there but the juiciness was not!

I hate to give it a 3 star, because the food itself is good. The fast-casual chains, spurred by Chipotle, where you can get decent food for an easy price in an assembly line style are a great concept. Mediterranean food is great, and the food at Roti is good as well. My main issue with this location is the lack of effective management. The last two times I've entered (both around 7pm, after the dinner "rush"), there have been 4-5 employees in the store but only one actually working. I passed it off as an anomaly the first time, but today confirmed this a routine thing. In addition, both times there have been minimal amounts of food available. Last time, my girlfriend even left without ordering because she had no confidence the food remaining was fresh at all! Luckily tonight one employee (who wasn't even on duty) was real great and salvaged our experience. It's too bad because the concept is great, the menu is solid, price is decent, but the management is poorly lacking. I suppose this is why you don't see Roti expanding as fast as Chipotle. If you go during the lunch rush you will enjoy, but any off hours and it will be a disappointing experience.

I have to give it one because I haven't tried the food considering that when we came to the door it was lock because they were no longer serving food due to a large catering order. An updated review when I finally get to try this place hopefully they won't be out of food especially for a place that is suppose to be open until 8:00PM. oh and side note it was about 11:00 when arrived there.

Delicious, fresh food, but measly portions for the price. I had the Mediterranean plate with chicken roti, couscous, cucumber salad and hummus. I'm a small girl who doesn't eat a lot in one sitting, but even I thought it wasn't enough food for one person. I should've listened to my gut (no pun intended) and also gotten a side of falafel to try. The employee greeting people in line was friendly, but everyone else seemed stressed, confused, apathetic and bored. One guy behind the register was even yelling at his co-workers. I will try this place again--maybe just not during the lunch rush.

  • Monica H.

Fresh food, healthy portions, good value, variety of options (but not so many that you're overwhelmed, and just enough so they do everything well). The falafel was yummy, the pita chips in my salad were a fun crunch. I've been a couple of times and think it's even better now than it was when it first opened. The staff is so great, too!

Rosslyn isn't exactly a hot bed of food options for those of us grunts who do the 9 to 5 thing around here. So Roti opened up, and it's definitely something different and unique in contrast to the other options that do exist here already. Being an uncultured savage (look at my reviews.. steak, steak, cheeseburger, bar, bar, cheeseburger, steak, bar, buffet) a Mediterranean grill is somewhat out of my range. That said, I'm always up for trying something new, especially since a new lunch option is like a drop of rain in a drought.. much needed. We walk in and the place is busy, there is seating but I wouldn't try coming in with a group, at best, only parties of two will find a seat anytime after 11:45. The line in both my visits there has been a bit long which is expected, what was not expected, was how fast the line moved. I guess the training video was in high def and executed very well because you zip through the line before you know it. I decided on the lafa wrap with the chicken, cous cous, veggies, hummus, feta, and dill sauce. I took it back to my work which was a block away and I must say, it was pretty damn delicious. The chicken was tender, flavorful, and the lafa wrap was warmed perfectly to compliment the contents. The veggies, carrots and broccoli, were also cooked very well. I will say this, I took a chance, and that chance rewarded me with a delicious new lunch option that will now be in the rotation of places I go in Rosslyn. I'd definitely recommend it to coworkers and the price is pretty standard as far as lunches go. I've definitely had much more for much worse. I'm going to give it 5 stars because it delivers a tasty lunch in an quick and efficient manner. Like I already stated.. I'll definitely be going back.

PREFACE: I won free Roti for a year...yes it happened and it was awesome! Roti has some pretty strong recommendations on here and I've got nothing but great things to say about this location. The concept is pretty simple and the food is fresh and straight forward. I think it shows how successful this place is - the line is usually to the door by 12:15. Note to self - go either early or later if you want a table as those fill up very quickly. Sometimes their chicken can be a bit dry, just like at Chipotle, but you can tell when you walk up to the station, so I recommend falafel as a great substitute. They also have a very helpful caloric calculator on their website - no matter what your diet, there is something here for you!

Ordered the Mediterranean Plate with chicken kabob, cucumber & dill sauce, and cucumber & tomato salad, couscous, and red cabbage slaw for sides. It was all really fresh and flavorful! For the price ($~9), it's a good deal on a lot of good food.

i have to agree with some of the prior reviews... the food was really good but there was literally 5 employees and only 2 were working. i had to wait an extra 15 minutes for my food because the person helping me left the counter because they were waiting on more chicken to be made. by the time the chicken was made, i had to wait until three people behind me were helped (since the person helping me went into the back... two employees in fact). the person who finally helped me was new and apologetic, but it was clear that the girl explaining to him how to do things did not care. again, the food was really good but please fix your management.

Between meetings, two colleagues and I (from out of town), stumbled upon Roti. What a find. My best description; the Mediterranean version of Chipotle Grill. You get in line, select your base (sandwich, salad, plate), add meat, side and toppings...then find your way to a table for an Epicurean delight. The staff was super friendly and there was always someone out on in the dining area willing to take empty plates away and cleaning tables. I prefer to support locally (non-franchise) businesses, but I would break that rule if there was a Roti where I live.

I've been going to the Roti by my office in L'Enfant Plaza for months now, so I was psyched that one finally opened in Virginia. This location is so much nicer with comfortable tables and if you eat in real plates and flatware. The DC location I've been going to must be the "food court" version of Roti. The food was good as always served kind of like a Mediterranean version of Chipotle, and the service was friendly and attentive. While it's no where near my home, I'll definitely go back as Roti is a flavorful seemingly healthy alternative while still being quick service.

Roti is very tasty and it's perfect for after work or a weekend meal. I usually get the chopped chicken salad and get hummus instead of olives. Love the spices they use. All the ingredients are delicious and definitely have a kick to it. The fresh cooked warm pita bread is great too. Recently when I have gone the portions have been smaller than usual... So that's kind of a bummer. Hopefully that will change!

Only reason why this didn't get 5 stars is because I am not a fan of their rice. My personal preference though. Everything else is amazing. Their falafel is to die for. Also don't forget to try their homemade pita chips. Yummy!

I love Roti so much! I used to trek downtown to get my Roti fix, but now they are a lot closer! The food is so fresh and flavorful, and the staff are just as lovely! I typically get the salad and get almost every topping possible. Depending on how many toppings you get on the salad, you could probably have a second meal. Pita is so fresh and warm, too. You can see it baking while you order!

I HAD TO HAVE hummus today. Like my bloodstream was missing vitamin hummus. The closest hummus to be had was over at Me Jana, which is great, but more than I want to spend (in both time and money) for a Monday lunch by myself. Further flung and in the other direction (what? There are restaurants in Rosslyn?) I found Roti. When I walked in, I thought, this simply has to be owned by the Chipotle people--it's got the same ethos (freebird chicken! fresh 'n' healthy!) and ordering system. It's not, but that's kind of what to expect. I got the BPE-"Best Plate Ever" with the kabob chicken, which would have been the best, but I probably should have spoken up and asked for a substitute for the tomato and cucumber salad...not that it wasn't good, it's just that I don't care for tomatoes and I thought that there would be more interaction with the person filling my plate, like at Chipotle. The chicken had a red pepper aioli sauce on it (probably would have been better on the side...like Palmolive, you're soaking in it), then there was rice (eh), grilled vegetables (they're ok) and some hummus (gets the job done, but not blowing my skirt up). You get a pita that's a little strange--kind of like a hamburger bun grew up and decided to rebel and become a pita. Most of the staff seems a little frazzled, even at 1:30 without that many people in line. They were prepping fresh chicken kabobs, so two guys and I had to wait and so we got free drinks, which was nice. The guy in front of me was a new customer and, evidently, new to middle eastern food, and the lady gave him a free falafel (note to self: act completely freaked out when ordering=free falafel). One annoying thing is that hummus is not available as a side that's included in most menu items--it seems that you have to order it separately (not on BPE, which is why I ordered it) and then you get a small tub of it with pita for $3.95. They have tahini available as a side, but really now, what kind of place are you running where hummus isn't standard? Maybe you can get it if you ask, I don't know. The other thing that's missing is toum, which I guess is probably too much garlic for most palates. Maybe the aioli is supposed to substitute, but it doesn't. Roti's not a bad place, and I'd go there again, but it's a little blanded-out, so don't expect a miracle in the Arlington food desert. UPDATE: A very nice person e-mailed me from Roti to say that you can get hummus as a side, even though it's not on the menu. So, they're not the hummus nazis, as previously believed.

I went once and was underwhelmed, but I thought it needed a second try. I went a second time and was even more underwhelmed. The food is not great, the value is not great and the menu is confusing. I won't be back.

Food is usually ok. Sometimes the chicken is too dry and cold because they can't seem to figure out how much chicken to make in advance of people walking in for lunch in late afternoon. As for normal lunch hours, the food is fine but the people who work there have an attitude and get agitated at one another. Too much yelling and running back and forth. They behave as if they were working at a car wash or worse... they try to do their jobs but aimlessly... talking to multiple customers at the same time and not hearing the answer of any, having to ask again... aghh

Seriously the friendliest and happiest restaurant employees I've ever dealt with in my 10 years in DC. I wish they had a tip jar because all 4 of the employees I've interacted with have been extraordinarily friendly. For a second I thought I was back in Texas, not in the DC area. Crazy to think that of all places, a casual order-at-the-counter restaurant would be the best service I've had here. Great for late lunchers since it's open all through the afternoon until they close at 9pm. Getting a wrap with a meat choice and as many toppings and vegetables as you want for the same price is a steal. I'm impressed that they can actually roll them up sometimes, because it's enough food for 2 meals. Good place to linger, read, study, or work on something, too. It's a nice modern decor with lots of space - especially after the lunch peak hours. Bonus: some of their ingredients, like Chipotle, are organic - I believe their chickpeas are.

Yum! This place is like the Chipotle style of Mediterranean dining, and I loved it. They have great gluten free options, I had the chicken kabob meal and really enjoyed it. Their gluten free pitas are heated up surrounded my tin foil, so you won't have cross contamination, and I thought the amount of food we got for the price was great. My husband got the original steak pita sandwich with rice, feta and lettuce and loved it. It was a good amount of food that left him full and satisfied for hours. My only gripe would be that the staff was rather scatter brained at times and seemed out of sorts, and it took longer than it should have with there only being a few customers in the restaurant. That said, the guy who served my husband made it up to him by giving him extra meat and being very nice.

WOO HOO chicken roti sandwich is the bomb dot com. I doctored it up with stuff but soon realized that all you need is the chicken roti flavor + yogurt sauce. Speaking of bomb dot com, can I recommend that Alan get employee of the year?! I'd never been to a Roti restaurant before but he eased me through the process by explaining everything and making suggestions. I was having "a bad day" but he turned my frown upside down with his pleasant and courteous nature.

I've only been here twice, and each time they've given me a better restaurant experience than some expensive, classy sit-downs. The cooks and staff go out of their way to make us feel welcome and valued, and their kindness and spirit has now forever bought my loyalty. And that's not even counting the FOOOOOOOD. I got a rice bowl with steak, tomato salad, pickled onions, hummus, and feta, all slathered with amazing dill yogurt sauce (tzatiki). Comes with a fresh warm pita, and because we'd driven a long way, a baklava. ;D I'll be back here as much as I can, and if we can drum up enough interest to get them to franchise in Herndon/Reston, they'll be MOBBED with delighted office workers. Just make sure the storefront pops like a freestanding Chipotle to grab the tech area's attention. Folks, if you want the ease and versatility of a build your own meal but are tired of burritos and bowls, this is an absolutely fantastic fast Mediterranean alternative. In fact, I'll just have this next time.

The employees at this location have the patience of a saint when dealing with (undecided) patrons like me. One in particular (Marcus) gives great service with a smile on any given day I visit. When they first opened I stop by and thought 'No way! great customer service in the DC area?' I gave them a couple of months to let the newness wear off and the rudeness begin. Customer appreciation is evident from the moment you walk in and encounter an employee. I like how they move customers quickly down the line and continue to engage the customer and not make you feel like they are rushing you to decide. Roti @ Wilson Blv gets 4 stars because they are the only local business in our area that gives coupons to bring a co-worker to lunch and one of you eat free. Tasty food, comparable prices, great service @ a perfect location.

We are frequent flyers at this location and have loved our meal every single time. The food is fresh, the place is clean and the staff is great. We especially like the service provided by Marcus - he always has a smile and does an excellent job. Thank you for such an enjoyable experience!

So, first time eating here and I liked it! Sure, its not as cheap as Chipotle but its reasonable for what you get. I got the chicken roti plate with the tiny yellow pasta (cous cous), tomato and cumumber, and eggplants for my 3 toppings. I had no idea what sauce to get so the girl recommended the orange one which was pretty good. It also came with a side of roti rice and fresh baked pita. It was a lot of food! I thought the chicken was flavorful and with the sauce, it really kicked it up a notch. I was too full to finish the pita bread though :( Everything taste very fresh and with the Mediterranean plate, the 3 toppings really did it for me because I get to try 3 small portions of their salads. Loved it. would definitely come back again and would love to try their sandwich. We came early so we only waited a little bit, but once we got our food and sat down the line was doubled. This is definitely one of the popular lunch spot in the area.

This was our very first time here, and we are also new to Mediterranean food.. All the employees were very kind and patient even though we were holding up the line in the middle of the lunch rush.. The food bar was very similar to chipotle, and for 9 bucks (we had a coupon) we got two good sized lunches. The meat was very tasty, I had chicken. The only reason I didin't give 5 stars was because the food was served cold and we werent expecting. We will surely go back again!

  • Robert T.

Whoever said they should have a tip jar is spot on. Very friendly place. Ever since the Mexican place across the street went under finding an under $10 lunch in Rosslyn is a chore, but Roti solves that. Very good pita, hummus, and feta. I stopped going to all the other chain resturants after I found this place.

    (4)
  • David F.

Lunch time is a very good option. Just do not go there for dinner. They use the chicken that is left over from lunch. It is cold and crusty by then and you will feel like you got had. Better off going to chipotle down the street where they cook new meats all day until close.

Food is delicious, and the rice plate is well worth the additional $1 for the extra food compared to the sandwich. Outside of the food, recently the customer experience has been incredible. Have an employee welcoming customers at the door, offering two fresh piece of pita bread for free, taking away your trash when you are done, asking if there is anything we need. Had a great conversation with what appeared to be the manager as well. I always go at lunch time during the week, I highly suggest grabbing lunch here.

Stopped by for lunch with colleagues. I was immediately reminded of Chipotle, but here they have Mediterranean. Ordered the B.P.E. (Best Plate Ever) and the food preparers let me customize the sides. Ended up getting the Spanish Eggplant and Cous-Cous. However, ran into some issues when I asked for toppings. Wanted a bit of all 3: feta cheese, olives, and sumac onions. I was told there would be a 50 cent extra charge. This reminded my of Qdoba and why I dont go for Mexican there. Its a made up price because there is no signage anywhere to indicate there is an extra cost. Further, places like Chipotle will let you customize your meal to your desire w/o any extra charges. I decided to call them out on this business practice. The manager, agreed with my explanation and was apologetic, giving me the meal on the house. Now thats what I call customer service! However, I would caution... the food is really good, your business is packed, why try to nickle and dime your patrons? For instance, when I make salads in my hotel on the road, I always put a whole bunch of stuff on top like different olives, roasted garlic, etc. People have different tastes... some like their food bland and others like everything on it ;) In summary, good customer service here and the food is quite tasty and refreshing. I would definitely come here again.

Was not impressed. Falafel was mushy and tasteless during lunchtime rush. Price was fine. Side salads were okay. I gave away a coupon for here, because I don't plan to return, but I guess it would be acceptable in case of emergency.

Yay, so excited for the opening of Roti here in Rosslyn. Rosslyn definitely lacks a good variety of affordable lunch restaurants, so I am definitely happy for the addition of Roti. I will admit that this was my first time every eating here, but it certainly won't be my last. Today (1/5) marked the day before the Grand Opening, so to celebrate, members of the e-club were offered a free lunch item as well as a drink. I got the chicken roti sandwich w/ a pita, cous cous, feta, red cabbage slaw, mixed greens and tomato & cucumber salad. Everything I had was good and tasted fresh. Next time I come, I definitely plan on trying the rice and the chicken kabob on my next visit.

i heard this was amazing.. so thats what i expected. maybe i was just a bit disappointed because i had such high expectations. i got the chicken platter with eggplant, hummus, and tomatoes and onions. i got the taziki, spicy, and roasted red pepper sauces. the chicken was pretty flavorful and i really liked the rice. the hummus was ok. very plain. but the eggplant was delicious. the tomato and onion was ok. i think next time i'd order some different toppings to taste more. everything (minus the chicken and rice) was cold. which is what brought down the stars for me. i felt like it should've been a bit warmer or maybe luke warm. this was straight cold. didnt seem to mix well. the dips were good though. great lunch spot for sure and solid Mediterranean food when you are craving it.

This place is soo good! I had the mediterranean plate, with rice, cous cous, chicken, feta and hummus, with the red spicy sauce. It was all so good, the chicken was perfectly flavored, their homemade hummus is terrific and so are their fresh pitas! I would 100% recommend this place to someone!

    (4)

Once again nasty old food. If you are rating this anything more than 1 star then you haven't had real Mediterranean food. NASTY. Let's also add how rude the people are there.

Pretty good but I am sticking with the Tasty Kabob cart. The falafel was pretty soggy and oily. Way too much fat for a non-meat lunch. The chicken and steak are pretty solid. Bread is good and humus is above average.

  • Colleen M.

Take this review with a grain of salt....Not feeling too well today and decided to experiment with something new - bad idea. The food tasted pretty good going down but, have not been feeling good since. Maybe I should have tried this when I was feeling better. Price is good considering the location and you got a lot of food for the price. Seems to be popular so, it may just be me.

We ordered catered dinner, roti steak, chicken, salad plus many extras for 18 people at a nearby hotel. It was under 250 and delicious and plentiful. Lots of food left over. Our guests were delighted -- highly recommend !

For being a "Chipotle-esque" joint, the quality and price are pretty good for the area. I recently had the signature chicken roti salad and was quite pleased. The pita that accompanied it was warm and fresh. Service was friendly and efficient. (Granted, I went after work and there were only a couple of customers, so I can't vouch for the lunch-rush response.) I'd be willing to go back to try a sandwich or kabob plate.

Very good and fresh food. Meal was tasty and healthy. Staff was very friendly and the atmosphere was light. I have been there twice now and both times were great experiences. I will definitely become a regular. My meal both times was the Best Plate Ever, or BPE. Highly recommended.

Roti's in general have always been great for lunch but this Roti in Rosslyin has become my favorite. The customer service is exceptional, the food is good, the place is clean, and it has alot of space for seating (at least compared to other Roti's). The manager was even nice enough to invite me to a free meal once for my loyalty and appreciative comment I made via the Roti app. Great place!

Love the food, not a fan of the service here. Whenever I go, there is always 1 guy working. He's really nice, but it's like the store is never 100% ready for customers. Every time I go in, there is a wait...for stuff that should already be done. Why am I waiting for bread to be made at noon, when you've been open for at least an hour, and you have customers? And they don't give you receipts unless you ask. I understand the whole "going green" thing, but I need my points! The last time i went, I spent over 10 minutes getting my order. There was 1 person in front of me and 3 people behind me. I have never spent this much time in Roti unless I was eating in. I have gone during lunch rush, and still been out in less than 10 min. I think they need at least 2 people working and they need to make sure the food is ready before the customers start pouring in. I usually go to this location on weekends to avoid the DC traffic, but I think I will stick with DC.

  • A Z.

The fresh pita is wonderful, but sometimes they give you old bread that has been sitting under the counter. This happens during the quiet periods. Ask for them to make you a fresh one, well worth waiting three minutes for. On that note, when this place is busy, it can be a bit of a mess. The chicken kabob is pretty good, but if they don't have any cooked ahead of time it can take about 7 minutes. Salads seem fresh, wish they carried soup at this location.

    (3)
  • Jay C.

This place is amazing!!! The food is fast and fresh. During lunch hour you can tell how popular it is--there is always a line. Always. But the line moves fast. The staff working are a great team. If they get an order wrong (which happens occasionally) they are fast to fix it and maintain a pleasant attitude. Once, we ordered in advance and it wasn't transmitted to the proper place. They were swamped but began preparing our order immediately. The manager will even step in to help if things are really busy. The portion sizes are generous. The chicken plate and mediterranean salad are always a win-win. Falafel is a good ad-on if you have a few extra bucks. As for desert, the baklava is absolutely to die for! For the quality and amount of food, prices are about in line with the other establishments in the area. I've never had a bad experience here. Keep up the great work!

  • M M.

good service, I wish thay had labels on the food so you know what you ate ordering rather than having to ask about each one.. staff was very friendly, I had the steak which was a bit overcooked.. good baklava..

  • Long T.

I find it hard to believe that a kabob place has no lamb meat. That was my first bummer. With a name like "Roti," I'm expecting an array of roti and naan dishes to try. Again, disappointed. This place is too serve and go quick, but I guess that makes sense for a place catering to the busy folks of Rossyln. I've tried their meat salad, and chicken dish. The chicken was way too dry, though the meat was seasoned and marinated really well. There's better places for sure, but if you need a quick bite, you could do worse.

the middle east meets mexico with chipotle sauce in rosslyn village. 1. select meat 2. pita or platter 3. fill 3 veggie toppings quality is okay, but 3 toppings is not the way to go. allow the customer to choose 5 toppings to sample the entire variety, just serve less of each. i would say it does the job for a quick, filling, somewhat healthy meal for a fair price

I think the employees are very friendly. The food is really good quality. You can add as many salad ingredients as you want. Many places only let you have 3-4 then pay extra. The prices are very fair too. Great spot!

We ordered the buffet take out for a family reunion dinner of 17. The menu serving was for 15. We added felafel sides for our vegetarian dinners. Everything was delicious. Generous portions. We still have meat left overs. Food was ready for our pick-up. Can't say enough good about the experience.

Roti is the Chipotle for Mediterranean food. You can order a variety of proteins as well as falafel in a wrap, salad, or as a huge meal with rice and bread. They have so many toppings and they're all free. I'm a big fan of all of their meats and I add all the toppings similar to when I go to Amsterdam Falafel house. Lunch will run you under $10 and you'll love it!

    (4)
  • Morgan W.

Yes, a new lunch place in Rosslyn! Since my co-workers and I were on the mailing list, we got free lunch, as part of Roti training their new employees. I was a little concerned that it might take us forever to get our food, or that the food wouldn't be great, but that was certainly not the case! Their system runs like a well-oiled machine of efficiency! I had the felafel platter with hummus, tomato and cucumber salad, and eggplant. Everything was very good, although the rice could have used a little salt. This is a welcome addition to the neighborhood...we'll definitely be back for more!

This is a 4.5 stars place to eat. The chipotle of Mediterranean food. Have it your way, all fresh, as little or as much as you like. The humus is great, have them squeeze some pepper sauce into your tub of humus - very very good :) Do not despair over the long line, it moves fast and is worth the wait. The staff is always friendly and ready to laugh it up with the regulars. Now if they would just serve some good coffee in the morning ;)

We got a postcard coupon in the mail recently, so my favorite local dining babe and I hit Roti last night. Funny, I commented to my girl that this place reminded me of the 'assembly line' feel of Chipotle, and then I saw my fellow Yelper Sarah L write a similar thing in her 1/25 review. Overall it was a decent meal, for mediterranean/grill/fast food/whatever the heck you want to call this place. My only real complaints is that all of the toppings I had were cold. It would nice to have warm couscous and warm veggies. We also ordered a side of falafel, which were pretty mushy, and the portion of hummus to dip into was pathetically small, barely enough for one falafel ball, much less six. For the price (especially with the coupon) it was worth it, but I'm not running back in there. If I want a fast food fix, I'll run a couple of blocks east, to Chipotle!

First time Roti experience: I walked in, was immediately greeted and asked if I had any questions. I guess when I ordered the Chicken Kabob on my salad, they were just starting to cook a fresh batch and asked if I minded waiting a few minutes. I said no, but they still insisted on giving me a bunch of freebies while I waited and apologized for the delay, but I didn't mind waiting for fresh - grilled kabob! Then I go to check out and they charged me less than half of what my salad cost to even further compensate for making me wait. The staff was friendly and attentive as well, very smiley. The food was good, and decent portions. Overall, awesome experience, I'll definitely be back.

I have never ever written a review for anything before but I absolutely had to for Roti down the street from our office. What I love the most is the staff. Yes, they are all really cute and I'm old enough to be their mother but they are so full of energy and they make the entire experience 10X better. The food is amazing and the atmosphere is great. You know when a restaurant is good when each time you go there is a line out the door to order. This place has just the basics with regard to tables and chairs but lends itself to the camaraderie. Can't wait to go back.
