Loveeeeeeeee Caribbean Grill! I'm Dominican from NY so I'm use to have lots of options for good Spanish food. I was really sad to not find any Dominican Restaurants I really liked here UNTIL I found Caribbean Grill. Not only is the food GREAT but its extremely affordable too! The rices is great, the black hit the spot and the Beef Stew is a tender, spicy perfection. While on the other side of Alexandria recently my husband had an urge for some Spanish Food. I quickly recommended Caribbean Grill and we drove across town to Arlington and he was delighted. We grabbed the food to go and enjoyed a tasty, meal with our daughter at home that didn't feel like fried fast food. I highly recommend Caribbean Grill! Oh most important reminder... It's CASH only!

Loved this place! The Cuban sandwhich was one of the best I've ever had. Black beans on the side were delicious. The staff was friendly and the prices were reasonable. The ambiance is very laid back and the place was very colorful, which was very cool. Definitely going back to try some of the other dishes!

Good food. Not for a business lunch and potentially not good to eat there and then go to a mtg. Food is good, small place, best for carry out or for a busy errands day

This place sux. Chicken is dry. Sides are small. Dont accept credit cards! They charged me for 5 cents wth my bill was 20.05 and I had to pay for the 0.5 cents cheapo

If you know me, I's gots to get my Polla a Brasa on con mucho gusto You'll also see, I'm a aficionado of the Peruvian Cuisine So I say to you folks, the Caribbean Grill makes a fierce bird I'd prefer it to my mainstay, Crisp & Juicy, and it blows Pollo Rico out of the Caribbean sea

This place is as good as it gets! Great food and great service. This is another establishment that I have been coming for years. My usual is chicken breast and thigh with either white rice or cuban rice. They also have a nice selection of side dishes, more than most peruvian chicken places around here. The spices on the chicken are delicious and the chicken meat is perfect, not too dry and not too moist. I have also tried the fried fish, beef stew, chicken sandwich, and the cuban sandwich. All are really good and the price is really affordable.

We like to get the jerk chicken. Comes with two sides and everything is priced right and tasty. Also like all there specialty fountain drinks. I would have thrown in a fifth star if they were a little faster.

THE BEST ROTISSERIE CHICKEN IN NORTH ARLINGTON. Chicken has great flavor, yuca is phenomenal and the sauces bring everything together. MUST TRY. Parking is sorta fun during the busy times.

I never go into Arlington but I was in the area and was hungry. Pulled up local eats on my GPS and saw the name of this place and it was uber close so decided to check it out. I was thrown off at first because I was expecting Jamaican and not Latin but nonetheless decided to place an order after seeing it was pumping on the inside. Ordered the chicken sandwich and fried plantains. First let me say the plantains were hot an yummy. I was sad they didn't have any sour cream but didn't need the extra calories anyway..lol. The chicken sandwich was delicious. It was well seasoned and the sauce they gave me was a little runny it would help it was a little creamier so it doesn't drip all over the place. Not bad if in the area would definitely try something else off the menu.

This place is small but the food is great. Be sure to have cash b/c they dont take Credit Cards. The Ropa vieja is tasty not the best i've had but close. I'm not a huge cuban sandwich kinda gal but my fiance is cuban and he loves them. the chicken is great and the sides are up to par. The sauces however... could use some more work. Aside from that this is great little place to get some good rotisserie chicken

My son and I stopped here for an early dinner. He got the steak and cheese and I ordered a chicken soup. It was early but there were already a few other tables with patrons. The 3 women running/working there were very friendly although the one that brought our food could only speak Spanish. Sure, it's a small place but a sign says that it is about to be expanded, I can only assume they are going to break through to the next store and double their space. It was a friendly experience with pleasant food. I wouldn't drive across town to eat there but would certainly stop by if I were in the area and hungry.

I ordered the Cuban sandwich and my wife ordered the Spanish Sausage sandwich, both were great. The prices are low and the quality was above average. I will add more recommendations after I head back.

I'm convinced that anyone who thinks that Pollo Rico is better hasn't had the chicken here. Prices are great, they have awesome sides (fried plantains anyone?), and the sauces are perfect. If you're in the mood for something other than chicken, I highly recommend the pork sandwich. CASH ONLY!

Loved this place. I got their special. Jerk Chicken combo + 2 sides.. cuban rice and fries. oh man, good stuff. The place is super tiny, but filled with delicious smells and unique 'dive' atmosphere. Their chicken is cooked rotisserie style, but tastes much different than Peruvian chicken. This chicken had sweet/ spicy rub on it, and much juicer than peruvian style. The rice and fries were very good as well. Glad i found this little joint in Arlington.. will be back!

Chicken: Way better than Super Chicken... Trust me, I did a head to head comparison. What to get: 1/4 chicken with two sides - The plantains are soooo yummy. And, for fun, get a can of mango nectar. It will make your whole life better. Came here the first time when I was 12... I'm 29 now... That's saying something. Haven't tried the Cuban yet (I was spoiled by living in Florida for a few years), but I plan to in the very near future.

The chicken is AMAZING! It's so tender and juicy. You can get amazing chicken and two sides and drink for less than $10. The portions are so large you can have two small meals, or one large meal, and immediately slip in to a food coma. The yucca with onions and mojo sauce is to die for. The decor is bare bones, and it's usually pretty hot inside, so I would suggest taking your food to go.

This place is AWESOME. The food is great, the portions are generous, and the prices are reasonable. Only place I know around here to get a Cuban Pork sandwich. I had one in Miami that was better but this is a close second. It's roast pork, ham, pickles, cheese. They put their own spin on it by using french bread and then these two tasty little sauces -- one yellow, one green. The sauces are amazing and I think they come with most everything, plus they're on the tables. Sometimes I get the ropa vieja (very moist, savory pulled meat) which is melt-in-your mouth delicious; the black beans and rice, very good, and I liked the plantains, as well. I got them once and my son ate every one, I just got a bite. I haven't tried the roast chicken yet but will probably try that today. It's counter service and there are some tables. You can sit family style at the tables. Whenever I've gone, there's been a line. Because they are busy, the food is not super-fast -- expect to wait up to 15 minutes or so for your order.

  • Remy D.

As good as it gets in the Virginia/DC area in terms of Cuban sandwiches...but still not quite as delicious as a real Cuban sandwich from Miami. The problem is the bread. I haven't tried anything else yet. Reasonable prices.

Carribean Grill I had the Yucca y Chicharron. The service was quick and efficient, the parking lot it weirdly situated off lee highway, so take your small car. The Yucca was good and the chiccharron was good, was I blown out of the water, No but if you want decent, moist, yucca and chicharron this is it. You wont be dissapointed.

This is for their brunch. Unfortunately I got lazy and we actually went weeks ago so my review isn't going to be very detailed. Mimosas are $2 and it's standard cheap sparkling wine and lots of OJ. Oh how I miss NYC brunch.... There is a very big selection of food so that's why they are getting 3stars. The paella was good (would have been a lot better if it had been warm). I like their little fajita station and they do have some latin inspired buffet entrees. Other than that it's standard buffet fare (omlette station, stale bread, cute desserts). It's good if you live in the area but not worth the drive for me. I can't wait till we go to La Boum in June.

All and all this place is awesome. The parking is limited, cash only, the line is long during lunch and that's just part of what makes this place great. It's totally authentic the food is awesome and it's cheap. I get the same thing every time I go, a half chicken, fried yucca, black beans and rice. It only cost $10 and some change and it's more than one person can finish. I have eaten there at least 20 times and have never gotten a bad meal.

  • Ni C.

went for a quick pickup order for lunch today, and impressively everything was out and ready to go at 11 on the dot. chicken is great, well seasoned and the white meat is amazingly moist. sides were proper--black beans and fries were made to order. a half chicken with 2 sides for 10 bucks--that's two meals and one happy camper :)

  • Sissy C.

Definitely recommend the rotisserie chicken. Not over priced and you get your moneys worth. The yellow rice is great as a side. I've only had the new potatoes and fried yucca besides the rice, and they're okay. I will definitely be coming here as a regular now.

Talk about disappointment! The first time I ever drove pas this place, shortly after relocating to NoVA, the smell coming out was great, and I'm always a sucker for a food joint with smoke pouring out of the side. Having been past many times since and read the generally positive reviews on Yelp, I finally got the chance to stop by and try it out. What a disappointment! The small strip mall location has a decor similar to many other roasted chicken shops, complete with charcoal bags piled high at one end. Almost a decade into the 21st century, the Caribbean Grill doesn't take credit cards; not a killer, but definitely annoying. At about 3 in the afternoon on a rainy Saturday it was steady, but not very busy. My son got a chicken leg and breast combo, and I got the "pulled" pork sandwich, along with some standard sides of beans, yucca, and plantains. The chicken was decent, but not of any higher quality than most other pollo a la brasa places. The yucca was quite good, and the plantains were decent. The black beans, a Caribbean staple, were rather lackluster and unimpressive. The real disappointment came from the pork sandwich. The menu said that it was slow roasted, "pulled", Cuban flavored pork. What I got was a sandwich covered with overly thick slices of dry, poorly trimmed meat lacking flavor. I could only finish half of it. I love Cuban food, which makes my experience here that much more disappointing. I'm not sure if I went there on a bad day or what, but I won't go back, and I don't really suggest that you waste your time here.

A-ok says it. I don't really know if I can say too much about it. That said, its a quality place to go... no reason not to. Relatively nice, large outdoor area for a place in Ballston. Good happy hour prices... something like 4 dollar mojito, margarita, or martini. The mojitos were good and had a piece of sugar cane in them... nice touch. I had the cubano, as a man I once knew said, the passover special (thankfully I'm not Jewish in this case)... one of my favorite sandwiches, but not so fast Caribbean Grill, yours is not as good as you bill it. Its simply ok... and with everything else... this place is A-ok... worth a shot, but not a place you'll ever count the days to go back to.

I went to check out this place after some good reviews and a not so good one. When I walked in there it felt like Jamaica, it was at least 90 some degrees in there. The person I went with and I ordered the chicken and a side of fries. I thought the chicken was average and not fresh. The other person thought it was good but not great. The place is not clean/spotless but descent. I do have to say that food handling was clean. Service was okay, except for the attitude the cashier had when I asked for a to go container or when I asked if the chicken came with a side already. Overall, it could have been better if the temperature didn't feel like it was hell's kitchen. Would I go back again? I would have to be convinced or starving. And they would need to take my credit card, who carries cash around nowadays.

Love this place; only reason for 4 stars is: parking can be irritating and it is CASH only. Other than those 2 things....LOVE THIS PLACE. The food is awesome. I usually get the beef burrito plus yuca. Other good things: curry chicken and chicharron, rice, and their delicious green sauce. I can't get enough of that green sauce. Green sauce on the burrito. Green sauce on yuca. Mmmm....must go back to eat there soon.

I love supporting local places and with the great reviews from Washingtonian (sure they were pretty old, but I still trust them) I wanted to check Caribbean Grill out. I loved the idea of Caribbean Grill, but it didn't quite deliver. I got a breast and wing of jerk chicken with sides of yucca and cuban rice. Boyfriend had a Cuban sandwich. The chicken was good. It's not the best jerk chicken I've had, but not bad at all. The sides were tasty, especially the Cuban rice, which is a mixture of white rice and black beans. The Cuban was the disappointment. Since it was the reason we went (Boyfriend has been talking about wanting one for months) it really brought the place down in my mind. It was not pressed at all and half of the stuff inside the sandwich fell out. The flavors were good, but the execution was poor. The prices aren't bad, but it is cash only. A drink refill will cost you a quarter. You can call ahead for take out, but they have no paper menus.

I checked this place out last night on the recommendation of other yelpers and was a little dissapointed. My wife and I picked up a rotisserie chicken and a Cuban sandwich. The chicken was decent but nothing I haven't had at Edy's or any other similar establishment and the Cuban sandwhich was cold and the meat to chewy. I will say though the sides were very good as we got the rice and beans and yuca. I'll consider going back to try the steak sandwich but all in all it's not a place I'd go out of my way for.

  • Paul W.

Focus on whats really good here, which is the chicken, the fresh made sides, and the free sauce (dine in only). Stay away from everything else including the cuban sandwich, which in my opinion is an abomination to all real cuban sandwiches else where.

Breast and Wing - Mixed Vegetables and Cuban Congri makes a for a very good meal. Curry chicken is money as well.

  • Ellen T.

I was disappointed with my experience here even though other Yelpers seemed to enjoy this place. My friend and I shared the jerk chicken, beef stew, yellow rice, and baked plantains. It's really sad when both of our favorites was the side of yellow rice. The jerk chicken was fine but lacked any real flavor and the beef stew was incredibly salty. The place is cash only and the person behind the counter was rude and unenthusiastic. I doubt that I'll be making another visit here again, unless someone was treating and ordering all the right things off the menu.

Caribbean Grill is irresistible from the moment you walk in the door and smell the chickens roasting on their open flame stove. It's small, independent, cash-only and to the best of my knowledge pretty authentic. I typically get their burritos or Cuban sandwich and have never been disappointed. It can get really busy during lunch yet I've never had to wait more than 10 minutes for my food. The prices are mostly excellent. It could use some more seating, and it'd be nice if they had more vegetarian options and better drinks, but this small restaurant is a focused affair and will especially please chicken lovers.

  • Lee W.

Great food but CALL before you arrive. If there's a guy taking orders, even while you're standing in line, he'll make you wait, answer the phone and put phone orders AHEAD of yours. While I was standing there he answered 3 phone orders even while I was in the middle of ordering. All were put ahead of mine. I even asked if mine can be put ahead of theirs as I was waiting and was flat out told no. My advice: phone in your order while still in line. If it's the standard lady behind the counter, she's very friendly and courteous.

I don't understand you gringos, everybody's talking about the "Peruvian" chicken, which I'll admit is good. But, did you ever stop to think this place is called the CARIBBEAN grill. And do you realize that PERU is nowhere near the Caribbean? hmmm....so, what I'm trying to say is anyone who comes here only for the chicken is missing out on something: I.E. the BEST Cuban Sandwiches in Northern Virginia. Please do yourselves a favor, next time, skip the chicken, and order a Cuban Sandwich. You're welcome.

    (4)
  • Jeremy R.

This place is a truly great find. I have never had the chicken...You know why? Because the cuban sandwiches are too good! They are truly the best in the area. They don't try to get fancy and add all the fru-fru crap. The sides are all pretty decent, except for the plantains which are only so-so. If you are in the area be sure to check it out.

Caribbean Grill is everything Crisp & Juicy and El Pollo Rico aren't. Read: both of those restaurants totally blow. Well, at least the chicken at crisp & juicy is good. I've only done take-out, since the inside isn't too nice and you're constantly breathing smoke from the rotisserie. But they have everything you would come to expect from the name. They have Cuban rice, delicious chicken, fried plantains, and even their flan was delicious. I dock them a half-star for not having any fresh chicken past about 7:30pm, if you get here late you eat dry old chicken and they're out of most of their sides. I dock them another half-star for the interior and cash-only. The calculator cash register system is pretty ghetto. Also, if you want plantains you should call ahead and see if they have them. They only have them about 50% of the time.

I did lunch over there today and had the Jerked Spiced Pork with a side of Fried Yuca and Black Beans. Tossed on a bunch of both sauces that came in the catsup and mustard bottles, but very clearly and delightedly were neither catsup nor mustard and made for a very spicy and delicious meal. Highly recommended if you like it warmed up. Terrific meal, and the Flan was really good too.

We have become multiple times per week regulars since we moved to DC a month ago. The atmosphere is basic... And who cares with fast, delicious food like this! Favorites include the roasted chicken, which is charcoal roasted in the store, and the Cuban sandwich. I get cravings for their plantains. And the flan is insanely good. Did I mention you can order and be on your way home in under 10 minutes? Awesome!

I wish I could give more stars; but this place has sooo many issues. 1) No credit cards, no cash register.... shady. 2) Cleanliness- I would not feel confident going into a white glove inspection of this joint. Nonetheless, food is good, people are nice and the prices are flat out cheap

  • Jennifer S.

I just ate lunch at this place and it was great, as usual. I prefer the flavor of their chicken more than most other chicken places and their sides blow the other guys out of the water. Their cuban rice is delicious!! They recently expanded to take over the place next door and renovated. It looks like they may be doing more soon too!! Just know that it's cash only, but well worth it!

Love this place. The smoke coming out the building is what caught my attenetion while driving by. Decided I would check it out, and I'm glad I did. The jerk chicken and baked yuca are outstanding. I travel to the area for business once a month, and eat here whenever I'm in the area. Sometimes for lunch & dinner! Cash only so stop at the ATm first.

I love take out places...I love dives...I (mostly) dislike chains...and I love any combination where the establishment gives you something you aren't really going to get anywhere else. 4 stars for Caribbean Grill's Cuban Sandwich...that's what it's all about. Ham, cheese, roast pork, pickles, mustard, and 'Cuban bread'. CG does it with two sauces on the side - tried to ID them, couldn't quite do it...one's like a salsa verde (similarly found at El Pollo Rico), other's like a thin mustard sauce. I like thinking that I can get Miami's signature sandwich (kind of like Philly has its cheesesteak and Baltimore has its crabcake sandwich) right in Arlington. Looking forward to sampling more of the menu.

Jerk chicken, Peruvian chicken. I don't care. It's all good to me and I have nothing but love for PERU!

I picked this place because I saw a whole lot of MEN in LINE and where u see a LOT of MEN the FOOD is GOOD why because men will not pay for BAD FOOD. The fresh sauteed spinach, the potatoes OH MY GOODNESS I have 3 friends HOOKED they come from STERLING/Herndon to get their fix. One friend I took she got her food and did not look up or speak until she had finished all the food on her plate, OH YES they serve huge portions. Love it. under $5-$8 small, packed, the Plaintains are to DIE for fried or BAKED.. U GOTS to GO.

  • J J.

I'll give the food I ate three stars, but an extra one because it was filling and pretty cheap. When I stepped in, I thought I smelled jerk chicken and was pleasantly surprised. Although I was really tempted to order it, I ended up getting the beef stew with black beans and white rice. The stew and rice were a little salty, but it was hearty. My friend ordered some crispy pork bits, which were also tasty. Definitely would go back to try the jerk and the sandwich.

  • Kevin M.

Caribbean Grill is second only to El Pollo Rico when it comes to chicken, but CG also has a great selection of sides. I would actually say their chicken tastes better, but PR is meatier and almost as tasty. The seating area is very limited, and if you go around lunch time you could be in for a long wait. Best to call ahead for take out.

    (5)
  • L A.

Yummy! I come here a lot. I always get the chicken and new potatoes. The plantains are great too. The view isn't great , so I always get take out but it's good and relatively healthy (depending on what you order) fast food.

  • David C.

The chicken is money with the fried yuca and the cuban rice being my favorite sides. Don't come too late though or you'll either get the old chicken from earler that night or no chicken at all. They stop cooking chicken after a certain time. The only other downfall is cash only, no cards. They don't even have an actual cash register, they use the old calculator and cash drawer method like back when you did bake sales in higschool. However, their sauces are money although you have to pay for extra sauce. All in all....great chicken and and sides w/ good sauce.

Everybody is about the chicken at Caribbean Grill yall been deprived! besides the Chicken there is other good stuff at Caribbean Grill too not to mention the Masas De Puerco (Fried Pork Chunks) and the Ropa Vieja (shreded Beef Stew) and Estafados De Carne a spicy Beef Stew so when you go ot Caribbean Grill try the other stuff too now I did take two star off as well because it can be hit or miss at Caribbean Grill sometimes they don't marinate the Pork Chunks long enough and the meat then tastes bland! but when they do it's awsome! The type of chicken they do there is Jerk Chicken not Peruvian! I've been eating there since the place has opened up back in the early 90s so I still like it when I'm in the mood for it! and my favorite is the Fried pork chunks and the Congri I hear though its not true congri cause true Congri is not black beans and rice cooked together but red beans and rice cooked together but I love it ! and of course Yuca is a must ! that is the first place I've tryed Yuca although they do better a better job at other places too . and also try the roast pork sandwiches remember folks go outside the chicken at Carribean Grill you just might like it ! the other stuff on the menu is under rated the only thing I probably don't like there are the empanadas the beef and chicken ones but I do like the Spinach and cheese ones if they still do those but any way those are my thoughts on Carribbean Grill!

We ordered a Cuban sandwich with a side of plantains and the yucca con chicaron. The yucca con chicaron was excellent, but the serving size was very small (two pieces of brocccoli, four small pieces of pork, and a lot of yucca - i really wanted more brocoli and pork) and the plantains were good. However, the Cuban sandwich was very cold in the middle. It came to $19 (10.10 for the yucca con chicaron and 8.90 for the sandwich).

It would be 0 stars if it wasn't cheap and Yelp allowed it. Went in a few weeks ago. It wasn't busy at all, the woman at the counter was filling the green sauce cups. First thing I notice is the trash is overflowing and the place looks dirty. Second thing was the very overweight woman who dumped out more than half of her food in the trash. These things should have led me out the door, but the d-bag Guy Fieri in me is all "Maybe you found an epic dive!" Afraid not my friends. She took about 3 minutes to acknowledge me. Some how she thought ropa vieja was "3 side dishes". She asked if I wanted steamed broccoli, which I thought was weird, but whatever. Got to the car, three sides, no ropa. Go back in and it takes a cadre to understand what is going on. I ask for refund, she asks for 2 dollars (cue Better Off Dead reference). Finally the lady gives me a small portion for free. So you are starting at 3 stars. And it is all downhill. The ropa was cold, congealed and pretty much gross/inedible. The yellow rice was cold, clumpy and devoid of flavor. The yuca was undercooked (and cold!). Ironically, the only thing that was any good was steamed broccoli (and it was actually warm!). The fact that I got some nutrition out of my 8 bucks and because I can't go any lower, 1 star for you.

Great little spot! It's super fast as the restaurant is run cafeteria-style. You order from a counter and there is seating if you choose to eat in. Alternately, you can take your order to go right there or by calling ahead. It's a great, quick option for lunch. They have a great selection of Latin and Caribbean dishes ranging from platter-style options to sandwiches. Servings are always more than I can eat. I always get the vieja ropa (Cuban beef stew) with yellow rice and plantains. Bar none in the area! Everything always looks so good and I've been meaning to try the chicken. Make sure you dip the plantains in the creamy yellow sauce they give - I'm not sure what it is but it's very good. As far as price, this place can't be beat. The meal I mention above is one of the platter options and you get it for about $10. And that's basically the most expensive thing on the menu. Love this place and will be back.

Mediocre Cuban sandwiches. It wasn't amazing and surely wasn't on my list of top sandwiches I've had. I like that this is a locally owned mom/pop type place, but so is most of rural Arlington. Overpriced and not worth your time or money.

    (2)
  • Michael T.

Seriously excellent Caribbean food, a sentiment shared by my spouse, a Caribbean-born gourmet. However, the physical plant is devoid of any character. The dive-ness is part of the attraction of many great cheap restaurants. Not here. Six stars for the food; two stars for the atmosphere. Take out is the best way to enjoy your delights from the Caribbean Grill.

HOLY YUM - this place is delicious! Cuban sandwich is the BEST! My co-worker (who is from Miami) recommended this place to me just before I gave birth. So after being in labor for 43 hours, I sent my husband to fetch me a feast - and boy did he deliver! I had the cuban sandwich and fried yuca and I was in pure heaven. I could have eaten 5 more of those sandwiches. A few weeks later we had their chicken, which was as expected...AMAZING. Find the little strip mall that's smokin' in Arlington and you're there! :)

Tried out Caribbean Grill for the first time today and I was pleased. I ordered a Cuban Sandwich and a beef saltena. I was really here for the sandwich, but the saltena looked good and at $3.50 a good buy. Of these two items, I actually liked the saltena better, The pastry shell tasted good and the beef, potato, and peas filling was very flavorful. The cuban sandwich was also very tasty, with the roast pork having a good flavor as well (the ham was a little bit of a letdown and imparted little to no flavor). It came on a baguette grilled in a press and everything was melted together and was excellent.. Parking is a little tight though and it can be hard to get into and out of because of that.. If you are looking for a good cuban sandwich, this is one the better ones I have had in the DC area. They had a diverse range of sides. I would highly recommend it.

Good prices and delicious, fresh food. Seemed really authentic. I loved the fried yuca.

Ok food. Not really impressed with their selection. Nice location for this type of food. It's ok for a local spot.

To begin with the negative; the lighting. That's it. Not the familiar soft lighting you find in most restaurants but some very high wattage bulbs in overhead track lighting. Because of this & the proximity to my home I do mainly takeout. Everything else is positive! Sandwiches (especially the Cuban & chorizo sandwiches) are amazing, sides are very good & it's all reasonably priced. I don't like black bean soup but somehow I like theirs. The staff are like bees in a hive as they move around the kitchen. The rotisserie in the front window is always spinning & fills the whole place with an amazing smoky smell. They have saltenas!

Ordered the jerk chicken combo with black beans and rice with plantains the chicken was flavorful and tender, the rice and beans not so good. it all came to 8.50$, and free fountain drinks, so not too bad. it was a big plate and I had three sides with the chicken

If I was looking for rotisserie chicken, I'd rate this place 3 stars. But with the name "Caribbean Grill" I was expecting Caribbean food. Very misleading & disappointing. The chicken was OK.

Wow what a great lunch! The Cuban sandwich was on point. I also had the fried yuca well because you can't have French fries all the time. Make sure you are not in a hurry as it does take a little bit to get your food. It's worth the wait, will be coming back and trying that rotisserie chicken it just smells wonderful!

Place is okay, nothing really stood out from other nearby establishments. Drinks were average, food was ok.

This place does a booming business, but I was not terribly bowled over by the food. I ordered the 1/4 chicken dark meat w/ Cuban rice (rice w/ beans) and mixed vegetables. For starters, I ordered for take out, but when I got it home, they had forgotten the vegetables. Annoying. The chicken was fine, but a little dry and somewhat lacking in jerk sauce/favor compared to similar chicken I've had in the past. The Cuban rice was heavy on the rice and very thin on beans. Frankly, I'd prefer to get the rotisserie chicken from the Safeway down the street. Much more moist and flavorful.

Missing Miami, C.G. hits the spot to get your Cuban fix... FYI-- :::CASH ONLY::: Ordered and LOVED: ::: Ropa Veija w/Cuban rice and potatoes ::: Fried Tilapia fillets w/fried yuca and plantains ::: Chicken--- The chicken is moist, well seasoned... different from Pollo Rico and Super Chicken, which I appreciated. Everything was fresh, authentic, generous portions and reasonably priced. I will be back... I want to try to whole menu. :o) Ambiance: ::: Very casual... a few tables are available for patrons to dine in, but C.G. seems to be more of a carry out. Random-- They cater... This is definitely a place to keep in mind for the next venue/event that I host.

Festive wall paint, helpful employees, and solid food. Not great, but good. I won't be seeking this place out again, but if I happened to find myself in the area and hungry, I'd drop back in to try something else on the menu.

I tried this place recently since it is close to my new office. I thought the food was pretty good, and the price was fair. I value taste over ambiance when it comes to restaurants and I really don't care for fanciness as long as the food is good... but I thought this place was a little dirty (floors, tables, counters). I also noticed that the cashier guy was serving food without putting gloves on or without washing his hands after handling money.... I hope they improve this to give the place a better appearance because the food is actually good!

Best. Chicken. Ever. Need I say more? Their jerk chicken is amazing. My favorite thing to order is the half chicken with extra green sauce. I also really enjoy their yellow rice and black beans. Today I plan on going for lunch and trying the picante de pollo, just to expand my horizons. As a side note, my boyfriend loves the Cuban ropa vieja. Bottom line, their food is simple, affordable, and delicious, and I love it!!!

GREAT FOOD!!!!!! I ate the Rotisserie Jerk Chicken (Dark)... which was extra juicey... (that's what he said.) lol. Ok, so the Jerk Chicken, cuban rice and plantains... GREAT... and love it... I will go back again... ... don't forget the green sauce!

I went here as I was waiting for an oil change after I dropped off my car. It was nearby and I needed a couple of hours to kill. After looking at all the yelp reviews, I decided to get the Cuban sandwich like many others on yelp recommended. It was pretty busy for noon and it seems a lot of the local workers come here. Anyway, the sandwich was really good and I'm glad I tried the place. For a couple of bucks more ($9 + no tax), you get one side and a soda. I got the black beans which was really good as well. Overall, I highly recommend the place and the Cuban sandwich. I'm not sure it's worth a trip out of your way, but if your nearby, it's worth getting lunch here.

I think that after the lunch rush Is over they sell cold chicken that has been sitting for a long time. I was thoroughly dissapointed the last time I went there and left worried that I may have eaten old and cold chicken. Something ain't right about that place.

Been eating here since the early 90s when I was in high school. Jerk chicken, rice and yucca fries for $8.50. The flavors are consistent and not living in the DC area any more, it's a place I must hit whenever I'm back in the Arl. Glad to see that CG has grown and that the lines are out the door.

MMm MMm good! Extremely tasty food! Hubby and I were in the area and decided to try Caribbean Grill based on the yelp reviews. We were not at all disappointed -- in fact quite the opposite! Caribbean Grill is not a fancy schmancy place, instead just an 'order at the counter' and receive your food type joint. Very casual, laid back, and quick to dine. Hubby had the jerk chicken with rice. I had the cuban with yuca. I absolutely LOVED my dish. This was the best cuban I had since we were in Miami last May. The cuban bread was perfectly made, the ham and pork delicious, and the sauces on the side (yellow + green) provide the perfect compliment to the perfect sandwich. The yuca was crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, as it should be. Hubby enjoyed the jerk chicken but would argue that El Pollo Rico or Super Pollo keeps their chicken more moist. However, if I had gotten up from our table, I'm certain he would have scarfed down my cuban+yuca while I was away. We both really enjoyed that sandwich and will definitely go back to have it again and try their other sides. Oh, and great meal for under $15.

So we really wanted jerk chicken since carribeEan corner in fairfax was closed and this place just didn't match up. We got "carribeEan jerk chicken" but it was just rositerre chicken and the rice and beans weren't that good either. If you want good authentic carribean food go to carribeEan corner!

Such good food!!! Tasty, healthy, simple, yet so flavorful and tender. I can't remember what we got, but it was basically a curry dish and a chicken and potatoes dish. Rice was also good. Wish we lived closer!

A great cheap-eat! Caribbean Grill recently expanded so now, there's double the space. And they accept credit cards now! The employees are friendly and they bring the food to you promptly. We tried the cuban sandwich and half of a chicken with fried plantains on the side. CUBAN SANDWICH: it's panini-style and very crispy with plenty of ham and pork... probably the best cuban sandwich I've ever had CHICKEN: roasted in a brick oven, the skin is moist and juicy, but the meat itself was a bit dry for my taste. Even half of a chicken was a large portion for two people! FRIED PLANTAINS: delicious and melts in your mouth Overall, I'd return if I had a chicken craving. However, I'd get my order to-go b/c the inside is not nice enough for a date!

We ordered a lot of food and really enjoyed everything. Great music and colorful decor made it a fun place to eat too. Jerk pork was pretty peppery but good. Plantains and Cuban rice that we got with it were really good. Cuban sandwich and curry chicken were also delicious. Jerk chicken wasn't really jerk chicken, more like roasted chicken. Really flavorful but not what I expected. The flan was also really good.

Came here for lunch because a nearby eatery as full to the brim, but this is what being lucky is all about. We began with some empanadas and they were huge! I could only eat half of the beef empanada which was filled with a beef, potato and pea stew and as a nice surprise had a few pieces of boiled egg in it. Very simple and flavorful. For the main event of the lunch, I got a ropa vieja (literally translates to old clothes, but in reality think of Chipotle's barbacoa but in a stew form) with cuban rice and fried yuca as sides. The meat was tender enough but not overly mushy and the stew had a good flavor of tomato, red pepper and spices that all came together nicely. The Cuban rice was rice and beans cooked with pieces of pork fat. It sounds a little meh, but you have to try it. Trust me! The yuca were a little underwhelming. The first few bites were great and piping hot, but after they cooled down a bit the crunch kind of lost its bite. The sauces on the table (green and light yellow) are okay, but not life-changing. My friend seemed to have thoroughly enjoyed his rotisserie chicken, beans and rice. I saw him stuff every last bit of his leftover in a carry out box for a future dinner. Bottom line: Definitely try if you are in a 10 mile radius.

First off ts not a Cuban sandwich if there is no Cuban bread. Get it straight people. Now that is out of the way. They do take credit cards now. The food is pretty good. I had yummy yuca. Tasty chicken, but not really jerk as advertised. Good sweet plantains. Decent yellow rice and congri rice. And the ropa vieja was good too. So far this was as close to miami food I have found since I left Miami. I'm glad I ate there.

This place is great for chicken other than that the food can be up or down the chicken is Cajun chicken like a dry rub roasted to perfection but not really cheap I think it's a great place to go when you're hungry and you really don't care about the ambience and you don't care about the quality of the service finally the forks break all the time they are really cheap forks!

For starters, I rather select zero stars, but it's not allowed. I located the Caribbean Grill on "Yelp" and traveled from Alexandria to this location to purchase Caribbean food for my Caribbean husband. Oh, and I like to give a shoutout to Yelp customers for their misleading reviews lol. However, I was very displeased upon entering this establishment. This restaurant was filthy with overflown trash cans UGU!! The two women working behind the counter lacked customer service skills. I stood there for over 10 mins without anyone attempting to take my order. I said excuse me twice and two women continued to work and acted as if I didn't exist WOW. I finally got one of the workers attention, but she refused to look at me. And acted as if I was annoying and wasting her time. I asked if she had OX Tails since this is one of the main orders on a Caribbean resturant's menu. Her reply was, "look at the menu (lol)." Ok no Ox Tails, I asked for Beef or chicken Patties. The female worker pointed to some dried up bloated dough on a shelf. I cringed, said no thanks and left. This was one of the worst restaurant experiences I ever had. This restaurant need to remove the Caribbean Grill sign because it's truely misleading and the food is not authentic Caribbean food. Oh yeah!! And management needs to teach these woman about customer service. What a waste of time and gas.

We came all the way from Reston to try the Cubano, which was excellent, and the Ropa Vieja sandwich was to die for! The fried yucca is also delicious! The rotisserie chicken smelled wonderful so we will definitely be back!

It's readily apparent that no Cuban has ever worked here. Masas were 100% insipid and had an gross funk about them. No seasoning. No onions. No lime. No good. The beans were poured straight from a can no cooking no seasoning. Oh and thanks for the two luke warm steamed carrot sticks and one broccoli floret, those really tied the plate together. Chicken was dried out and skin was soggy. You'd be better off getting dinner from the 7/11 across the street.

I'm always satisfied walking out of this place. You can't go wrong with the chicken, and the different sides you can pick to go along with your meal. My favorite sides are yellow rice, black beans over white rice, spinach, fried yuca, and plantains. If you want to add more flavor or spice, try their green and yellow sauce. I like to mix the two together. The Cuban Sandwich is one of the best in the area. They now take credit, so that's a plus. Cheap eat, good food!

My kitchen when mine is closed. Chicken saltenas are comfort food - like self contained potpie. Cuban sandwich, ropa vieja, beef stew, moro rice, and baked yuca are my favorites. Steamed veggies are standard, but fresh. Oh, and bring cash.

Im skeptical to write a review because this is my neighborhood go-to. But its time to give these ladies their well deserved props. Amazing food. period. Chicken is super tender and all the sides are money! I love that they dont give a shit about you either. They take your order, no small talk, and its always delish food.

Good home cooked food . The portions are generous and the food is consistent. The Cuban chicken sandwich is amazing I really like this place. It can get busy at lunch time but its worth the wait. Its a good value and its not fancy but the food is always good !!

El Pollo Rico say what? Super Chicken say who? Crisp & Juicy say when? Out of those super giants of pollo a la brasca joints in NOVA, Caribbean Grill is definitely a contender among them. What stands them out and makes them different is that their rub birings a little island flavor with their jerk seasoning. Say WHERRRRRRRRRRRE? Okay that didn't make sense, I was trying to use up all the dubyas. This is a Peruvian chicken style place that uses jerk seasong? How dare them? But it turns out to work well for them. What is also great about this place is that they have many many sides....like bubba gump said: fried yucca, baked yucca, mixed veggies, yellow rice, white rice...etc...shrimp toast (maybe i fibbed on the last one) Like most of these places, bring cash money only. yo mama! P.S. The decor is pretty cheesy, but no edible cheesy.

    (4)
  • Juliet K.

not too shabby. but all the food was a bit salty for my taste. plus the chicken wasnt as "jerk" flavored as i would've liked it. I ordered the jerk spiced pork over cuban rice with fried plantains and the bf ordered half a chicken the pork was also on the bit salty side, but since i got the rice it kinda balanced out. on the tables there is ketchup and then a unlabeled yellow and red plastic container. you would think maybe mustard and some hot sauce, which is correct. but its not your standard mustard or standard hot sauce, so if you want another punch of flavor, go for those!

Carribean Grill has been here forever. We used to skip school to go here, load up on green sauce and be wide awake for the last class periods. The food has not changed one bit in the last thirteen years, so they've found a winning formula and are sticking to it. Things people might find annoying: They are cash only. The parking lot is cramped and dismal. The interior is cramped. You will not find a seat during lunch or dinner, so just get your food to go. Thankfully, the food is worth it.

Ridiculous: Beef Stew with cuban rice and one side (fried yuca for us) Cuban Pork Sandwich Chicken thight/leg with mixed vegetables... TONS OF FOOD and total price? $20 WOW!!!! The favorite was the cuban sandwich, next was the beef stew yummy and my least favorite was the chicken - it was flavorless and I will not be coming back to get that again. Otherwise, I definitely will be back for the cuban sandwich and the stew!! cheap prices and yummy food!

My wife and I have been past this place countless times, and I've read my fellow Yelpers reviews, so while we were out and about today we decided to stop in for lunch. What a disappointment. I had a bowl of black bean soup with chorizo, and it tasted like somebody opened a can of black beans and heated it up with some sausage in it. No spices, no seasoning; I make better black bean soup and I'm not even Hispanic or from the Caribbean! My wife had a chicken sandwich which she said was just o.k. I had the cuban sandwich, and quite frankly I've had better cuban sandwiches in every other place I've had them. The worst part of the meal was the fact that the place was filthy. Food on the floor around several tables, and the tables looked like they hadn't been wiped down in who-knows-when. I don't know how they can pass any health department inspection. Shame on them. Never again!

I think the name of this restaurant is misleading. If you are really looking for "Caribbean" food, this is not the place to go. We were anticipating jerk chicken, peas and rice, cabbage, etc., etc. I think it has maybe more of a cuban flavor. We were also not impressed by their "jerk chicken" which seemed more like rotisserie chicken with some seasoning on it. And their peas and rice was more like beans on top of rice. You had your choice of white or yellow. Or, you could have a dish with rice, beans, and pork. Additionally, I found the restaurant to be very dirty. The tables were not clean. I saw a bug crawling on the counter beside the drink machine and the restroom had toilet paper in the floor and around the toilet. Since we had traveled thirty minutes to get there, we ended up purchasing the rotisserie chicken, yucca fries and a burrito, to go. The chicken was ok. The burrito is still in the fridge. Oh, and if you get a fountain drink, it is 25 cents for all refills. Give me a break! We will not be going back. Must find a REAL Caribbean Restaurant. Extremely disappointed. Wish I could give it 0 stars.

I ate my sandwich while watching the local fauna eying the other local fauna out at the watering hole (dos hombres eating lunch actually stopped their chatter when the blond with the whale tale walked in squishing her car keys into the itsy bitsy pocket on her small yuppie booty). If "local" feeling were Cuba or 1988... then this place is just that! A cubano is nothing short of delightful. The one here is delicious but on the smallish size (as in normal) for five dollars and change. I like that pollo a la brasa sauces were served with the sandwich.

This place is AWESOME!! If you have a hankering for some Cuban home style cooking, you definitely need to check this place out. My go-to dishes here are the Picante De Pollo or Jerk Spices Pork with yellow rice and new potatoes. Other good bets are the Cuban sandwich & black bean soup with chorizo. It used to be really cramped in here with only 4 tables, but they've recently acquired the store next door and now have a large dine-in area. I'm not sure if it was a fluke or what, but the AC was out when I went there today. Since it was about 80+ degrees inside, I decided to get my food to go. Still, you can't go wrong if you dine-in or carry-out.

One of a very select few of my first favorite places I discovered when I moved to NoVa from Los Angeles. The food here is exactly what it should be, & at an unbeatable price! I try something new every time I go because everything is just that dang good. Cuban sandwich (not the best I've ever had, but still rocks my socks), ropa vieja (succulent & flavorful), black beans & rice (moist & both rice & beans cooked perfectly)... go for the food, but know the secret is in the green and the yellow table sauces when you can snag a spot to eat-in. Two important tips: 1) they take credit/debit cards ( i don't know why so many reviews say they only accept cash, I've used my card here most of the times I've visited & I believe there are card logos on the front door). 2) throw a dollar or two in the tip jar. The food is excellent, it's counter service, & staff works hard to deliver amazing product at rock bottom prices. 3) parking is a lil tight, it's in a little strip of small, mostly Indian shops. Park further up the lot & walk down to the restaurant. 4) they recently expanded, but have someone grab a table while you order if you visit close to a rush time. Often I go and am one of the only people, and by the time I finish my order the place is on the verge of being packed. It is a hole in the wall kind of spot, it is the food that brings people here!

I tried roasted chicken dish with one side (yuca) and chicken curry. Fried yuca is the best yuca I tried in this area but roasted chicken is just mediocre. I like super pollo chicken better. I didn't know that Caribbean cuisine has curry dishes but this chicken curry is really good. I mean it is better than any decent Indian or Thai curry. roasted chicken - 2.5 stars fried yuca (side dish) - 4 stars chicken curry - 4.5 stars

Real Cuban sandwiches. Need I say much more? Greasy as anything, but damn authentic. I've only been once, but I really want to make a trip back; colorful little shop that had really good cuban food. The sandwich was exactly what you want out of a cuban: great bread, good pork, ultimately delicious. It's been a while since I went, so this review is lacking in detail, but a solid establishment overall. Try the sauces too, quite good.

As some of you might have noticed , I frequent this place quite often . Why ? Because the food is pretty good . . . . . Duh ! Than again , there have been two occasions in which I've had to take my food back to the counter so they could give me FRESHLY MADE food . I had to wait 15 minutes or so , but they catered to my demands =0) As I was saying though , the food is quite enjoyable , ESPECIALLY when it's been freshly made =0) I've tried everything on there menu and my taste buds have been satisfied with each and every one of their dishes ( Except for the two times I had to take my food back to the counter . Honestly , I would've eaten the food if I hadn't tasted those same dishes time and time again . . . . . But I knew what they tasted like and that's what my taste buds wanted ! ) Just so you guys know , this place is ' divey ' so don't expect it to be anything other than that . The tables don't get cleaned often , and I've noticed that the customer service can be lousy at times ( I personally haven't had an issue with them ) . But all that can be resolved by getting their attention and asking them to cater to your needs ( like asking them to clean the table ) . One last thing I should mention . . . . . Recently , the prices on ALL their items went up by about 5 % - 10 % . I was kind of disappointed by that . I feel like nothing merits the small spike in prices , but it is what it is . I'll still keep frequenting this place though ( I just won't be dropping any dollar bills into their tip jar anymore ) =0)

wait why? so many options for pollo a la brasa in arlington. never again straying from the best this chicken has striking similarities to a 4.99 rotisserie chicken sitting around at grocery store for hours. Dry, lacking flavor, weak skin. Never had trouble finishing a chicken meal, before this. can't speak to the sides as much, had the fried plantains and yucca and they were nothing I would go back for. yellow sauce is ok, green sauce is not spicy enough for me/too much vinegar. More like a dressing or something. Do yourself a favor and go to super pollo on quincy, el pollo rico, or at the very least, crisp & juicy down the street. Just not here.

I simply adore their delicious, homecooked food. I've been coming here for years, back when my entree was under $10 bucks and they DID NOT accept credit cards. Times have changed, but their food quality has not. I love CG!

So I'm one of "those people", I need my chicken fix on the weekly.Normally we frequent El Pollo Rico (my fave),but the fiancé suggested we give this place a shot.Boy am I glad we did! I'm really big on yellow sauce and when eating in restaurant you literally have a tube of it at your table.Places normally are stingy with the sauces so this was amazingly refreshing to me,the chicken was pretty awesome as well.I'm deducting one star for the staff who weren't very interested in providing friendly service.

Great local, low key spot in Arlington. There's not too much to the atmosphere (or the shopping center) but the food is great. You can't expect anything fancy here, just quality, 'home cooked' cuban food. The chicken is great though not as good as pollo rico but that's tough to compare. The variety of the menu options is what keeps me coming back. Try the Cubano, Burritos (chicken and beef are best), or ropa vieja platters. The sides they offer are some of the best in the area and can't find them at other Peruvian chicken spots. I go for Cuban rice, yellow rice/black beans, yucca, new potatoes... can't go wrong with most of it.
