My wife was there with my parents on 11/14. Apparently ownership has changed, the service was down, there were food issues, and they were very vague about who supplies the meat now. They would not confirm it is still Creekstone Farms. So, until I learn more, and get back, my review below is no longer of much value. My understanding of the new owners doesn't give me a lot of confidence. Hopefully, I'll be proved wrong. If the menu still says who provides something like the meat, validate it. I haven't changed the rating because I have no first hand proof things have changed, although I fully trust my wife's opinion. That's why I'm writing this. It's possible the lower ratings recently have a reason to be lower. They are still waiting on a wine license, I'll be back when they get it.

3.8. Pretty expensive (for the amount of food/quality), but I enjoyed the ambiance. The joint is sweet... loved the feng shui... no idea how to spell that. Moderately expensive... but the food is great quality. Potato soup- delicious. Pumpkin soup- better dessert than pre-meal. Rib tips- way too expensive but they were decent Coconut shrimp- also overpriced but good. Pulled Pork flatbread- really yummy. the blending of flavors was perfect. the bbq sauce was yummy. and fed two people. think about it!! The desserts- peach cobbler was so freaking good!!! it was 8 bucks but... when you splurge... you splurge. Chocolate cobbler- ehhh... don't get it. go peach. the verdict- this is a great place to go with friends and just chill. the prices are a little unfair, but if you love new things... GO HERE!! I will likely not go back, but it has nothing to do with food quality or service. It's just not financially viable. but if you are a foodie you have to go!! one of the best restaurants in provo (which isn't saying much). PS 90 dollars for all the food i described. PSS their potato chip things are stupid. haha. anyone who says they are addictive is wrong.

Took my family here for breakfast. The people were friendly but the food wasn't. I got steak and eggs and its one of the worst steaks I've had in a long time. We were the only people in there at the time, so I'm worried if this place will stay in business. The server was nice, so hopefully for her sake they can start producing better food

New spot, they don't have their liquor license yet. But, that's ok, come for the food! Service is top notch too and prices are reasonable. Nice place.

Two and a half stars, really. I gave them the advantage, since it was our first visit, and they certainly have room to improve. Here's the deal - Tamarack is a stylish, upper-scale resto with obvious high hopes of success. Problem is, they're mis-located. Get a truck down here that is big enough to transport them to SLC's 9th and 9th, and they're golden. But this will never fly in Provo. From my "time" in this valley, I can tell you there are approximately 47 locals who will have to keep this place alive. The service was awkward. Decent, and relatively comprehensive - but it felt newborn, and very unsure of its identity or direction. Our server did her best to make it seem "normal" but for all her efforts, the emptiness of the place did nothing for the ambience, nor did the strange placement of the standard table accessories: S&P were placed awkwardly on a table-shelf-thing that I would expect to house a floral vase, or something decorative at the very least. Their mix of minimalism and odd Western wintery forest themes is not wholly unappealing, though. The menu is small, but interesting. There seemed to be just one menu for lunch and dinner, and the prices definitely lent themselves more to the dinner scale. This is a pricey lunch. Hubby opted for a burger that I can't recall the name of, but it was huge. Bacon, onion strings, sauce dripping all over - it looked great and he said it was. Note: it was cooked perfectly, so either things are spotty here, or they've worked out their issue with undercooking burgers. The fries were string, and topped with what appeared to be feta or goat cheese bits. Good serving sizes on this option. I went with the fish and chips. The plate was a severe rectangle, and contained two good-sized filets of breaded fish, cooked to a crisp. When I say crisp, I mean the outer 1.5" were not even able to be cut with a knife. It was completely dried out, with the exception of the innermost center of both filets. I ordered the sweet potato wedges rather than the regular fries. They were roasted rectangles of actual sweet potato (not yams, like most), coated in a sweet glaze. They were okay. I was most disappointed in them because I wanted some flavor, which they did not produce. There were four or five small pieces, and I ate one and a half. Our bill was well over $35 without tip. If I'm making the call, the overall experience at Tamarack is not worth the somewhat hefty price. We will come back to try their breakfast/brunch offerings, just to make sure it's not fabulous. I think they're banking on the tourist/convention traffic, since they've attached themselves to a hotel. I wish them luck. This used to be a Friday's, for heaven's sake.

My observation of Tamarack is that there are serious issues in the kitchen. So serious that the waiter as well as myself as a customer just felt awkward throughout the meal. I really hope that they can get these things under control with their new management. The restaurant is quite beautiful and it would be nice to have another semi formal dining establishment in town. If they are still in business and six months I will try them again. You can leave it at that or my full experience is below Tamarack, after looking at all of the pictures other yelpers have posted I was quite excited to try the food. Apparently I came at a bad time because several of the menu items that I asked for were out for the day even though the place seemed painfully empty. I decided to settle for a burger because several of the reviews had mentioned how good they were. It seems that they're really struggling right now. The fries and burger were plated well but the bun was much too thick and the meat was overly cooked to the point it was almost chalky. Also instead of having some sort of spring mix like a typical gourmet burger, iceberg lettuce was on the burger which really cheapened it. My wife got their sweet pumpkin soup which was incredibly salty. Neither of us could eat more than a few spoonfuls because the salt was so overpowering. My last concern was with the desert. We ordered a cheesecake as well as a red velvet cake. The ice cream on the side was very recognizable has Kirkland signature ice cream from Costco. The cheesecake was also Costco cheesecake with a nice mango sauce on top. For me Costco cheesecake being served at a restaurant just doesn't cut it. Throughout all of this our waiter was incredibly nice and also apologetic when he noticed we were having trouble with our food. He offered to exchange the soup and even gave us a free appetizer as well as two desserts for the price of one. I have absolutely no complaint about service, I just really hope they can resolve their issues they are having in the kitchen.

Where to begin... The burger I was served was completely raw (red, not pink) and my sisters to-go box had a half eaten shrimp tail in it...she had a hamburger. The server was polite but the manager was a total prick and charged me my my sisters half eaten hamburger. This was easily the worst dining experience I've ever had. Sorry for the awful birthday dinner sis.

We came in for breakfast and were the only ones there. The hostess was yawning when we walked in and looked shocked to see people. Long story short, breakfast menu very limited to a few over priced small omelets and sweet dishes, waited 25 minutes for our food and were the ONLY people there. Potatoes came out burnt, literally black and dry. Portions were very small and flavorless. Horrible hipster folk music blaring the whole time. Would much rather eat Dennys for twice the food at half the price. They seem to be trying to be upscale but failing hardcore. Would never consider giving this place another chance especially with a fantastic bakery right across the parking lot and a Dennys next door.

Friendly staff and well presented and delicious food. Everyone in our group of six loved their food, pumpkin soup and the flatbread pizzas were hits. Nutella creme brûlée should be illegal - I could have downed 2 but thankfully others present made me think twice about such over indulgence.

Great place if you're in Provo. Friendly staff and quality food. I could live on their bread and butter! Only 4 stars because they don't serve alcohol yet.

This place is seriously awesome. I was apprehensive at first, because I've never been to a restaurant attached to a hotel that was very good. But this was. You get a plate of warm, fresh bread with sweet butter to begin the meal and that set the tone for the rest of it. I had the sirloin. It came with asparagus, these incredibly buttery mashed potatoes, and some carrots, as well as a bowl of really great, creamy potato soup. Also got a raspberry Italian soda that was the perfect blend of zingy and sweet. My husband got the bacon and bleu cheese burger and really liked it. It was massive, the meat was quality, and they didn't skimp on the toppings. The fries were also good. Probably the least impressive part of the meal, but by no means poor. We didn't get dessert, but based on the photos and descriptions I've seen, we're definitely going back sometime for that alone. The service was very friendly and the restaurant decor is beautiful. The best part, though, is that it was not nearly as expensive as the surroundings and menu options suggested it would be. Don't get me wrong, it's not cheap - $10-25/plate depending on what you get - but that's pretty standard for restaurants like this, and it is a billion times better than any chain like Macaroni Grill, Chili's, etc. where you would spend a similar amount of money.

Two stars for service, execution, and value (trumped food quality). Three stars for food quality. Too long of a wait between being seated and soliciting drink order. Drinks took over 10 minutes for sodas. Lemonade took over 15 minutes. No water was served during the 15 minute wait until requested by us. Lemonade brought in a cracked mug.. potentially dangerous. Charged us the wrong amount for some of our items. We had to correct the staff on their listed prices on the menu versus the dinner ticket. The food was ok, but not for the price, thus poor value. The recipes and food concepts seemed like they had potential but the execution was poor. Unconventional Cobb salad needed bacon, egg, and balsamic (more traditional) for balance and had too much bleu cheese and chicken (didn't think I'd ever say that). Fresh avocado instead of guacamole would have been better for the cobb salad. The burgers were handmade patties but lacked flavor. Could have used at least salt and pepper. One of our dining partners had a steak and I think they found it acceptable. The specialty drinks were too sweet. Dirty Dr. Pepper should be with an unsweetened coconut flavoring. Same for the lemonades; either use real fruit (strawberry and mango), unsweetened flavorings, or less sugar in the base lemonade before adding flavored syrups. I don't live in Provo anymore so I can't recommend alternative eateries but based on my experience here it shouldn't be too hard to find an alternative American Restaurant.

The restaurant is clean, the service is good, the food is amazing and it's fast! It also wasn't too expensive for the gourmet food you are getting. We got an appetizer and two meals for only $30!

I will break down my experience at Tamarack honestly and in order of events below. We had a reservation and were sat immediately. The restaurant seemed empty for a Saturday Night. We got waters and appetizers. The bruschetta and coconut shrimp were delicious. They also serve bread with a yummy honey butter. Service however, was slow. Took forever to get a server to take our drink order and then it took over 10 minutes to get our drinks. We finally ordered our entrees. I forgot to mention we were a party of 6 and our server had two tables TOPS that he was taking care of-- not a busy night for him. We got our soups/salads at the same time as our entrees which was awkward timing as we wanted to get everything in our bellies while it was hot. Three of our entrees (two ribeyes and a black and blue burger) had to be sent back because they were EXTREMELY undercooked. Getting these entrees back out took over 20 minutes and the rest of the group had finished eating. Another bust. Meanwhile, we are all parched because no one is refilling our drinks. Literally the whole night we had to ask for refills which is annoying. Server should be on top of that. We end up ordering desserts-- while our entrees, once delivered correctly were very good, the dessert is below average and I would suggest going to Shirley's instead which is in the same parking lot. We got the peach cobbler (which wasn't a cobbler, it was peaches baked into a flavorless yellow cake) and some weak brownie "sundae." Our server finally delivered the check after another long while. (The restaurant was literally still empty at this point so unsure why the lag). He gives us the bill with just an amount--not a typical itemized restaurant receipt. We wait and asked him to print the right check-- he explains he accidentally skipped that one and in order to give us one he would have to void the entire sale and charge it again so it would show up twice on our credit card machine??? wtf bro that is standard procedure at a restaurant. After all this, we were never offered any discount or free anything even though service was slower than the DMV and meals were prepared wrong and dessert was worse than a stale box cake!!! Our bill for 6 people who most drank water and 2 desserts was $164!!!!!!! Way overpriced and we would have appreciated a break. Overall the food is pretty good-- worth a try. Dessert was bad. And service was awful. Nobody checked on us at all either. I give it a generous 2 stars and probably won't return for a visit. Just go to Texas Roadhouse!!!!! Better food, service, environment, portions and desserts!!!!

A new restaurant with great food and reasonable prices. They have a very friendly staff, and their service is great. Burgers, steaks, flatbreads, and sandwiches. Go for the frys, though the chips are pretty good. Oh, one more thing... Save room for desert. The brownie is awesome!

My wife and I tried this place on Sunday, we started with some mozzarella sticks then wife had the Demi burger and I had the Teriyaki ribs with some blackberry limeades. The food was very good, we were full half way through our meal but kept eating because it was so delicious. The restaurant has a nice calm feeling to it and the staff was friendly and helpful. Definitely going back and recommending this great place!

Noticed on the menu that steaks are referred to as "primal" which is a meaningless marketing term undoubtedly used to make the customer think the steak carries a USDA Prime grade. When I casually asked the waitress what was the USDA grading of the steak i was considering, she was evasive and didn't actually answer. I figured I was hungry, wanted a steak, and wasn't going to leave so didn't press further. In the end I suspect the cut was Choice. I ordered a 12 oz rib-eye cooked medium. It arrived at the table rare to medium rare. Red and slightly warm at center. Also, they obviously hadn't let it rest (or it really was simply rare) because it was dripping. I took a single small bite and had to send it back, which was a first for me, believe it or not. It came back a short while later a little over medium, which I wouldn't have minded, except I suspect they finished it with a microwave. Having a steak spend several minutes off the grill and then have to go back on to finish already diminishes the quality of the end result, but this was something else. My friend and I got separate checks, wrapped out respective receipts around our cards and they still managed to mix it up. I know they just opened and unemployment in the area is below 2% so finding good staff might be hard, but this kind of product at these prices is inexcusable.

We had bruschetta appetizers that were delicious, and the bread was nice and fluffy with a perfect almost sweet taste. The highlight for me was the pumpkin soup - just what I was looking for as we roll into the autumn season. Our waiter was very friendly and made sure that we were taken care of. We were also pleasantly surprised by the reasonable prices.

The place was quiet and upscale so we didn't have to sit next to t shirts and tights. The food was beautiful and tasted great. We had 3 different steaks all perfect. Also the salmon with mango salsa was excellent . The food presentation was beautiful but not outlandish. The food is prepared by a four star chef not just cooked and this takes a little more time but it's enjoyable instead of being rushed out for the next cover. They use tablecloths and you can put your silverware on a nice clean cloth rather than a rag swiped table. I wish they required jackets . I am so glad no one was drinking and getting drunk in the vicinity. The prices were slightly higher than most places so if your looking for cheap eats go to maverick or golden coral .

Thank heavens for some originality! This place nailed it. I moved to Provo a year ago from LA and have been dredging through the restaurants of Provo, often disappointed with the results. But this place actually delivers a flavor with every bite. The potato soup is fantastic and savory. The prime rib is tender and the reduction over top of it was to die for! Hell, I even liked the whipped herb butter on their French bread. The Peach lemonade is sweet and tangy, but not so tangy that it leaves a strange aftertaste, like some do. The salmon over the coconut rice was moist and the pineapple salsa added a sweet acidity to the overall flavor. The creme brûlée cacao is phenomenal. The crunch on the top is deep, but not too brittle. The peach cobbler is baked fresh, similar to a Dutch oven camping cobbler. It is the cake topping as opposed to the streusel type cobbler. Very delicious. Service was excellent and cordial. Definitely coming back!

GORGEOUS food with personality. We have been there several times and I have been very impressed with the quality of food for the price. They are still trying to figure out their service, but the time they obviously messed up they definitely took care of us. The tamarack burger is delicious, the steak is fantastic as well as the salmon, fries and chips crispy, fruit very fresh. Soups are good-the pumpkin is sweeter than I expected but still good. Plate presentation is fantastic and restaurant aura rustic and pleasant. Give it a shot-you will be happy you did!

I only have it one star cause I had too. I went there and ordered the Chicken Roulade. My step daughter ordered steak. The salads were spring greens, carrots and dressing. Nothing great. At least 1/3 of the leaves were wilted. Her steak was extremely rare when she ordered it medium. It had a lot of fat and Grissel. The chicken was very dry and rubbery. You could tell it had been sitting awhile and was just heated up. Both of our mashed potatoes were cold. I sent the chicken back. When they brought me a new plate, it only had mushrooms and spinach in it. I believe the mushrooms were canned even. The menu stated it was stuffed with mushrooms, red bell peppers, cheese and a few other things. We were however, seated promptly. But our waiter was too busy talking to the lady sitting across from us. There was only her and one other table if 3, besides us. It was a horrible experience. For that kind of money, you would think the food and service would be up to par. Its not with what you pay and service in a fast food place is by far better.

We visited on Friday November 7th 2014 after receiving a great recommendation for this place. Perhaps the fact that the wait at the olive Garden up the street was an hour and we walked right in should have been warning enough? Well, Sherlock I am not so we went in anyway. There was opportunity for this to be a good experience, if I were to try to play sherlock I would guess that the kitchen staff is staffed with the first 4 people kicked off of a recent season of Hell's Kitchen. The meat in the hamburger was decent, the steaks seemed of average quality (although above average price). I really enjoyed the potato soup which is creamy not chunky, and my wife raved about the pumpkin soup - she likes very sweet soups. The restaurant was only half full on a Friday, and it didn't seem that they were under-staffed from a wait staff perspective. Our table ordered two steaks, a pork chop and a chicken dish with soups and salads. About 15 minutes after ordering we were told that the kitchen was out of pork chops (my order) I said that I was concerned that anything I ordered would come significantly after the other meals and it was suggested that I order a burger. I ordered a burger, with a couple of items removed. About two minutes later the other three meals arrived but wait, no soups or salads yet, our waitress apologized and two minutes later our soups/salads appeared WITH the three of four meals. This seems to be kind of a recurring theme in reviews (in fact there is a review below that I almost said ditto to rather than writing my own). The steaks were Average (as I mentioned above) and we ate them. The chicken was either boiled or cooked in a microwave - that is the only way that chicken could come out that white, chewy, bouncy, and pasty. This dish was literally inedible, and the sauce/gravy was nasty. This meal was also replaced with a burger due to time. By this time we are 30 minutes+ into our meal two people are half finished and two of us have no food - at any other restaurant I have been to we would have been bombarded by management by this point, not a manager in sight (we thought). 45 minutes in my Burger came, which I kept rather than offering to the person at the table who sent back her chicken, because we had ordered our burgers differently. Turns out it didn't matter as our modifications were ignored anyway. The person who brought the burger (with fries on the side) handed me the burger and walked away with a plate that had cups full of condiments. The burger had nothing (mayo, ketchup, mustard) on it. 5 minutes later, after eating most of the fries we were able to get the attention of someone to ask for condiments (specifically asked for Mayo, Ketchup and Mustard - 5 minutes later ketchup and mustard came - no Mayo. Asked for May again but never saw it. I gave up and used the Ketchup and Mustard on a now barely warm burger. 60 minutes in no second burger so a person at our table ran to a sandwich shop in the same parking lot, ordered received and returned with a delicious sandwich BEFORE the second burger arrived. that second burger arrived, again, with no condiments (why are you sending out dry burgers with no condiments on the side - for $12 you can afford a little mayo, ketchup and mustard. We again requested Ketchup, Mustard and Mayo, the person who brought us the burgers and the wrong condiments actually asked if we wanted fry sauce or ketchup and may, so she heard us say Mayo. We said fry sauce would be great as it could go on the burger and be Ketchup and this way we may be mayo - 5 minutes later, ketchup no mayo or mustard :-0 So, after nearly two hours we received our checks, which the Waitress had indicated had been adjusted by management, arrived. One check the burger had been removed + $3.00 off, the other check had $3.00 off but the burger still on (why were the checks for two people with pretty much the exact same experience adjusted differently??) The checks were about $40 each (prior to adjustments) and we were told that they had been adjusted by 20% (hmmmm - must be new math). We were really in no hurry, and were actually laughing at the situation, but we were curious about why the checks were adjusted differently, so we asked to speak to the manager. The manager came out and it was the person who couldn't bring out may, no matter how explicitly she was asked. So here is what was crazy, she didn't argue about adjusting the second check, but she acted as if we had made her miss her birthday by asking her to come talk to us. If you are going to help someone - why the heck not do it with an attitude that *MAY* get you some return business. Well, long review when I might have just said, never again, never never never. Given the lack of customers on a Friday I can only imagine what Wednesday looks like - my bet is the landlord will be looking for a new tenant soon.

Attempted to try this new restaurant for brreakfast. We had heard they were open Sundays and thought we'd try it out. Arrived at 11 am on Sunday. No one was in the place. We didn't see or hear any customers. Took several minutes before employee came out to seat us. He told us it was too late to get breakfast and they were only serving lunch. We didn't stick around to find out if the food was good. Really didn't seem like they were open for business. Seemed pretty out of touch with consumers not to have even a brunch option at 11 on a Sunday. Will have to try and go back for dinner sometime and see if it's any good. First experience there left a lot to be desired.

The restaurant is clean, the service is good, the food is amazing and it's fast! It also wasn't too expensive for the gourmet food you are getting. We got an appetizer and two meals for only $30!

A new restaurant with great food and reasonable prices. They have a very friendly staff, and their service is great. Burgers, steaks, flatbreads, and sandwiches. Go for the frys, though the chips are pretty good. Oh, one more thing... Save room for desert. The brownie is awesome!

Nice place.
