Oh Lotus Garden. Your reviews make me sad because yes, it may not be the greatest quality food, but it sure as hell is a great value and solid for what it is. A cheap Chinese buffet. All these Chinese food snobs dissing on this place need to calm down and go somewhere else. The people who own this restaurant are very adorable and try hard to give the best service. I thought the food was quite decent if you just want a ton of cheap, fried, sweet, salty Chinese food. Some of the better dishes were the beef and broccoli, tempura veggies and meat, as well as the crab rangoons and wontons. Not to mention that for 9.95 you get a drink, a buffet, and they have ice cream and dessert. Cute little place that I think will start getting plenty of business once the Provo City Center Temple gets up and going. Give it a shot

I hadn't been here for awhile, so when I stopped in last week for the lunch mongolian bbq I was surprised at the price, I believe it has gone up a dollar or two since I last stopped in. The bbq offering is standard fare, but the value isn't really good enough for the price. Not a bad experience, but not excited to go back since there is better Chinese literally down the street, and a better bbq a short drive away.

8.95 for the dinner buffet isn't a bad deal. I came at kind of an odd time so a lot of the food was either old or gone. They eventually made some new food and it was a little better, but the first round was not all that good and it took quite a while to get the fresh food out. The coconut chicken was probably my favorite and when the noodles were fresh they were pretty good too. The dumplings were good, but a bit greasy. I feel like a lot of the other chicken dishes all tasted the same, fried chicken drenched in sauce. The restaurant is really dark and quiet, kind of weird. The server was nice and was good about bringing drinks. I probably wouldn't go back, but it wasn't the worst Chinese buffet I've been too.

Simply nasty. Rice was turning brown, clumpy and hard. The chicken on the Mongolian bbq was slimy. It smelled bad upon entering. Stay away

Nothing is fresh. The rice was so old it had gotten crunchy. Everything is done in the absolute cheapest way possible. Even the water tastes funny. 0 ambiance, and service is bare minimum. I would rather go hungry than go back to this place. DONT WASTE YOUR MONEY!!!!

Food is pretty good, Prices are Okay. If you eat the buffet go at lunch time or else the food is sort of old. The best thing about this place is the online ordering. lotusgardenprovo.com This is a good way to order fresh hot food to your door. Try it out, you will be glad.

The food is great...if you don't see where it comes from, haha! I have ordered delivery take-out from here on multiple occasions, and it has been delicious. However, once my friends and I were out, and decided to eat at the storefront. It is a little frightening inside, to say the least. I think that might have ruined it for me.

I have gone to this place twice. Both times were the same. My wife though really likes it. The restaurant is a tad on the dark side, with regard to the lighting. I have noticed a number of restaurants have that problem. The service wasn't the best. Even though each time I went the place was very empty so I don't understand why it would take so long to get our drinks. The food wasn't bad. I have heard that sometimes its a hit-or-miss with this place but I have only gone twice and it wasn't bad. The key is the time of day you go. Meaning, this is a buffet restaurant and so they just leave the food out on those heat trays (or whatever they are called) so if its been awhile it will get dry and nasty.

I went there about a month ago because I wanted to eat at a Chinese Buffet. It was really bad. So again to tonight, I'm downtown and want Chinese so I thought I'd give it one more try. Oh my gosh it's bad. To go into detail would take forever so just take my word for it.....STAY AWAY !!!!!!!!!

Looked for a cheap delicious Chinese restaurant and was not disappointed. Food wasn't super fresh but that's because we came at 2:45. The Mongolian BBQ was really good! I recommend trying this place out!

The Mongolian grill cook didn't keep the flavors separate so ours tasted spicy like the previous guys food and they also added flavors we didn't ask for (minimal options for the grill food). We thought the lunch buffet options were plentiful and fresh (must have gotten there just after they put them out). The salad bar doesn't have a ton of ingredients but does have cottage cheese :) Nice to have so many scoop ice cream flavors in addition to the various desserts.

Let me start off by saying I love Chinese buffets! And I don't consider myself to be especially picky.... But this was honestly the worst Chinese buffet/Chinese restaurant I've ever been to. The customer service deserved negative 1 star, they were some of the rudest people in a restaurant I have ever dealt with. Now on to the food, the temperature of every bit of food there was somewhere between cold and lukewarm. To be honest I think some of the food would have been good had it been fresh, but most all of it looked as it as if it had been pulled from the dinner last night and put out for lunch. I grew up in Provo, and I've always seen this place in downtown, this was my first time trying it and my last. I don't know how this place has lasted this long. If you want a good Chinese buffet place try Chinese gourmet in North Orem( I think it's the best in the valley) or even Asian buffet in American Fork.

This divey buffet is good, most of the time. There are some bad days, but overall I'm happy with the food and cleanliness. Because it's an all-day buffet, you're bound to sometimes run into some dishes that have been sitting out for some time. But if you have the right expectations, you won't be disappointed with Lotus Garden.

For the price, it really is pretty great. Not everything on the all you can eat is good, but some of it's better than Panda Express and much cheaper

This doesn't even deserve one star. The food was absolutely disgusting and the appearance was horrible. My wife made me pray on the way home that we wouldn't get food poisoning. We will never go back. All of the food is really old and hard and chewy. There's hardly any food out and it looks like it has been sitting out all day. Gross!

We decided to try this buffet today for dinner. What a mistake. My wife, I, and our two chidren arrived at 5:30, and were promptly seated in an empty restaurant. The only other table was an elderly Asian man reading the paper. We chose the buffet as I had taken an early lunch and was quite hungry. Upon approaching the buffet it wasn't immediately obvious that the food wasn't fresh, but we should have seen the signs. All of the food tasted as if it had been sitting there since lunch. Upon moving the serving spoons it was possible to see that the sauces had all congealed and clearly hadn't been touched in several hours. We tried our first plate, but the food was clearly not good. I asked the waitress if any fresh food would come out soon and she immediately became defensive claiming it was all fresh. Another worker also immediately told me "You ate some, you have to pay". They clearly were not interested in addressing the issues and after a brief exchange we left with less than half a plate eaten each. For this we were charged $8.95 each. How they think they can get away with charging $9 for their lunch leftovers is beyond me. We will never be returning to this location, and we will be sure to make sure everyone we meet knows to do the same. Do yourself a favor, if you want Chinese food go anywhere but here. Even the American buffets like Golden Coral will be better.

We had the buffet. I should preface by saying I'm a big fan of Asian buffets and I'm not a picky eater by any means. But the buffet was disgusting. 3/4 of the food was either cold/room temperature or just old and gummy. Many of the sauces and liquids had been sitting there so long, they had glazed over with this film...yummy. :( I have never in my life worried so much about getting food poisoning (for the record, I didn't, but I feel lucky).. The fried sugar biscuit things were cold and hard as a rock. The egg drop soup tasted weird. The chicken products were all just old and tough and I completely avoided most of the seafood. The only decent thing in the place was the lo mein (which was still very greasy) and the random ice cream in the back. The ambience didn't help either. It was very dimly lit (and not in a romantic or classy way) and struck me as being run-down and dirty. Go instead to Wild Ginger on University or Panda Express or Chinatown on State St. Avoid this place like the plague.

I used to go to this buffet a lot. Like, every week. It took me a little while to accept that the food was getting worse every time. I was willing to overlook some of the undesirable changes because it was pretty cheap and just down the street from where i live. The last straw was when I went in for dinner ( which is more expensive) and ended up with multiple dried out or empty serving trays, and they still charged me full price. They said that they were slow and they weren't going to put out more food. The owner has never been friendly to me, even though I have never complained and always tipped her. I will never step foot inside that restaurant again.

Family meal for six was fantastic. Great Chinese rice, sweet and sour pork, and lemon chicken. The buffet, however, looked very disappointing with many of the foods appearing old, left out, and even burnt in some cases.

I hope the restaurant sees this review because we'll never use them again. The food was old, and much of the meat was cartilage. The woman on the phone was rude. The delivery man was rude. A lot of our food was very salty. We got a few pork entrees and sides, but we think they added extra salt because how overly salty some of the food was. For how much we paid (nearly 50 dollars) for 4 entrees and a side and how poor everything tasted... we'll never go with this company again. You can get a better meal from Panda Express.

I walked in expecting a full dining area with ample guests all chatting pleasantly. Instead I was the only person inside. The fact I was alone would prove a failing business but the atmosphere said otherwise. If this restaurant was falling, the waitress kept it calm not to reveal anything was amiss. Even after telling her that I was there to review their place of profit, she didn't loose any cool and bravely asked what I will be drinking. After ordering from a simple menu, I decided on the dinner special. Sweet and sour pork with soup, rice, and egg rolls. Bringing me the soup first, I enjoyed a perfectly blended mixture of an Egg Drop blend. Picture an Asian type of person making a vase on a pottery wheel and it has no blemishes. That is the flavor of the soup. A perfect mix. Just before I could finish my soup, my meal was brought before me. A plate the size of my thigh was placed. I picked up a piece of sweet and sour pork and placed the moist red meat into my mouth. Flavor that could penetrate the great wall of china created a happy moment for me and nobody else in the restaurant. This was the best pork platter I have ever eaten. Ever dreamed of eaten. My dream now a reality, I was in control. The dark lighting with the incredible meal would make a math magician bawl with such and equation for creating a nap. I can only imagine the dreams that my mind would create after dining here. I will come here again, I see myself making deals here. Good or bad, I would feel right at home in this easy going moody place of eating. My only complaint is the lack of Teriyaki sauce. Add that, and this would be a 5 star vacation for a lonely and sad traveler. Well done.

Food selection was very limited, and the food was old. After looking at the food we decided we don't want to eat anything at this place and wanted to go to the other restaurant. We didn't touch anything; however, when we decided to take off, a man approached us and said that we ordered drink and they can't put it back, implying that we need to pay for it (it probably cost them 10 cents to make it from syrup anyway) even though we didn't touch it. We clearly let the waitress know that we need to decide whether or not we wan't to eat here. So when we said that we didn't order anything- he said "OKAY, GET OUT!". Very poor customer service, and bad selection of bad food - BEWARE! P.s: Fortune Bufett is cheaper and offers about the same selection, and iBuffet is a little more expensive, but selection is greater, food is cheaper, and they give student discounts.

I come here for lunch quite frequently. I haven't tried their buffet yet, it looks OK. What we usually come for is their 3.99 lunch specials. I really like the BBQ pork Lo Mein. For 3.99 you get an entree, egg roll and soup. The portion sizes aren't gargantuan, but I walk out feeling satisfied, and for the price I really can't complain. I'll be back again.

Chinese Cuisine

The popularity of Chinese food in America can be adjudicated by the appearance of China Town in many major cities in the United State of America. The popular trend of ordering or opting for Chinese take away food isn't unknown in America. Chinese take away food comes to rescue when you're too tired from work or too exhausted to cook. No one can resist the temptation of eating spicy noodles, shrimp, chicken, beef or pork cooked in the sweet and spicy sauce. The cooking method of authentic Chinese food is a lot different compared to what is served in America.

Generally, Chinese use dark meat small bones and organs to cook dishes but this changes when you are eating American-Chinese fusion food prepared using white boneless meat cooked with broccoli, carrots and onions. Back in China, the food is less spicy and oily as they favor steaming and braising method for cooking the most popular dishes. So, if you have a taste for authentic Chinese food, then try finding a real Chinese restaurant in the city. You can also try the most popular fusion Chinese food like Pecking Duck, Chicken Feet, Hot Pot, Shrimp Dumpling Soup, Mapo Tofu, Wontons, Chop Suey, Egg Rolls and not to forget Fortune Cookies.

There are not many restaurants in America serving authentic Chinese food. A little research on Restaurant Listings directory can help you locate the best Chinese restaurants in the city. Chinese cuisine is continuously evolving, and you can find a variety of dishes categorized as the food for lactose intolerant, gluten intolerant, vegan, vegetarian, and diabetic friendly. So, if you have a group of friends with different taste patterns, save the hassle and visit the nearest Chinese restaurant in your city.
