Food is divine. The chef really knows how to cook meat and keep all the flavor. My favorite dish so far is the Forest Mushroom Ravioli. The rolls they bring you before the meal are also surprisingly good. The restaurant is beautiful inside and out. The waiters always look and act classy.

Decently good. Though I think it was a little too fancy for my taste. The desserts were legit

I recently ate here for a graduation celebration. The decor was cute. The food was good! I would recommend this place if anyone was looking for something a little fancy but not too fancy. decent prices. Overall, it is not a place to rave about but it also a place to recommend.

They usually start you with rolls which are nice and warm. The Bruschetta is not good, I also had the wedge salad and I wish it had blue cheese on it instead of blue cheese dressing otherwise it was ok you really can't mess up on a wedge salad. The beef medallions were good. I've also had the beef with shrimp and the beef was great but the shrimp was disappointing because they were not cooked right. The veggies served with the entree are ok as well. The lemonades are not that good I wouldn't recommend them but on the positive note they are refillable which is nice. The service is good. The first time I came the server accidentally spilled ketchup on my friend's blouse and they didn't charge her meal and gave her a 30$ gift card so that was considerate on their part.

This place has a very nice ambiance and the food is pretty good. Their portion sizes could be bigger though. The service is good and if you're looking for somewhere nice to eat in Provo it's a good place.

In a town where it's tough to find a good cocktail, this restaurant was a nice find. Good food. Good service. Nice atmosphere.

This place is okay. It reminded me of Olive Garden, except with more trees. I ordered the potato leek soup and wedge salad. The soup was tasty and the salad was good. I sometimes have cravings for salads with bacon, and this salad would definitely satisfy that craving. It was like a BLT, except salad form.

LJG is a nice place to go to once or twice... in your life. Its a pretty restaurant with nice decor details and a nice atmosphere, but I think it tries to hard to be and look fancy that loses the point and doesn't get that the fanciness in a restaurant comes from the moment you step in. I don't really know how to explain it, but its just a thing of feel, I really wish I could help, because I honestly liked the place. I thought the food was okay, and the plates with okay portions. Don't get me wrong with this review. The 2 times I went, I had a nice experience, I enjoyed my food, my appetizers and salad that my date and I ordered, but it was just... It lacked something. I really can't put my finger on it, but after the second time I felt, and still do, like that was my last time there. It wasn't impressive, and it didn't live up to the hype that some of my friends had mentioned and talked about. I think everyone should try it once, and make their own judgment, you won't be upset or regret your experience, but it wont be a religious experience in which you come out of thanking god and all the angels and saints in heaven for the overall experience at LJG. But it will be good.

i went here for the first time and it was for my little wedding reception .. It was SO GREAT ! even though we had to wait for our reserved private room, the manager accommodated my party with free yummy appetizers while we sat in the main dining area. FOOD:delicous!!! i had the beef tenderloin medallion and it was sooo good . Melt in your mouth, make-the-stank-face like you do in church GOOD ! and i had the lemon cake for dessert, a bit on the sweet side but i still enjoued it. SERVICE: GREAT ! they were fun and polite, very helpful when it came to our extra requests and dealing with our kids running around the private room haha

If you want a fun romantic restaurant or a great place to go with the girls, come to La Jolla Grove. When you are seated, you feel like you are dining in a grove of lemon trees. I have gone here several times, and am always pleased with my meal. They use fresh ingredients and the portion sizes are smaller than the average restaurant these days, but still filling. What We Got... Herb Chicken Pappaedelle $13.75 Any pasta dish served with fresh homemade noodles is that much more delicious. Jen got this dish and said it was amazing. Shrimp Pasta with Roasted Tomatoes and Spinach $14.95 The shrimp was served over angel hair pasta, my favorite, with a light citrus butter sauce. It had a wonderful blend of tomatoes and spinach. Another winner at La Jolla Gtove. Butternut Squash Ravioli $14.25 I thought this was a nice change from regular cheese and meat ravioli. The butternut flavor was great. On top was a thin slice of apple, for a touch of well thought detail. The dish was delicious, served with a savory pumpkin cream with carrots and potatoes. Service... The service was ok. A bit slow. When I mean slow, I refer to the waiter in being slow to get us rolls, fill drinks, and bring our check. We got our food in normal time, but we were at the restaurant for a while because of the other factors. It was fine because we weren't pushed for time, and it was fun to chat and catch up with friends both times. Overall... Green light restaurant. I've gone back several times as each time I can't wait to come back and try something new. Also each time, my plate is scraped clean. Not a drop left. Side note: They just opened a location in Salt Lake downtown at the gateway.

I was really hoping this place would be decent. We are so desperate for anything reasonable in the area. I like Kent (Owner) personally, but I never had a very good meal at his previous restaurant. The only hope at La Jolla Groves was how prominently they listed many excellent local providers for the ingredients. Unfortunately, I've learned from some very reliable sources that most, if not all, of the providers no longer provide anything to the restaurant. In some respects that's a good thing because they ruined everything I ate. It's the only restaurant, no matter how bad, where I just could not eat much of the food because it was so bad. Normally, I'm moderated by my wife who says I'm being too critical. This time she left more food than I did, and agreed with what I wrote for this review. I wanted wine with the meal and hadn't brought a bottle from the cellar. I figured we'd go with some wine by the glass. They assured me I'd like the one I asked for. It had only been open for a WEEK or TWO. At that point I asked for a bottle so I could get something drinkable. It just went downhill from there. After finally coming up with a choice they weren't out of they couldn't manage to find anyone who could open it until we were halfway though the entrees. The rolls were delivered long after the appetizers. The ravioli was thick and under-cooked. The vegetables were cooked until mushy, and grey, instead of green. In the end, the food was nearly untouched and nobody asked if there was an issue. The price was far too much money for cheap ingredients that were all poorly cooked.

I love this place. I've never had a miss. Salads. Soups. Entrees. Desserts. It's all really solid. Service is very good. This is a go-to place for business lunch, date, or when my parents come to town.

The hubs and I had eaten here before and loved it so much we decided to have our wedding luncheon here as well. It was superb! The staff was so friendly and didn't bat an eye when my husband requested two desserts since it was our wedding day. The food here is incomparable. For an appetizer (the 1st time we went) we ordered the fruit and cheese platter. The White Cheddar was my favorite, followed by the Brie and Swiss. I'm not a Gorgonzola fan myself, but it looked nice. The cheeses were paired with fruits, candied walnuts and toast. They had more than enough cheese and fruits for four people. For my entree I ordered the medallions and cleaned my plate (a rare occurrence). The small potatoes and veggies were delicious and cooked so well it almost brought tears to my eyes. Since I have a sliiiiiight sweet tooth. hubs and I got both the lemon cake and the molten lava cake. Both were fantastic, though I preferred the lemon cake. The atmosphere was very classy and we loved it. Will definitely be coming back time and time again.

The food was good, not fantastic but good enough. The problem is the prices don't match the quality. Mediocre quality food for gourmet prices. Dessert was delicious though.

I had the tuna. It was a bit fishy. Not bad though. I'll probably give it another shot.

Been here several more times since my last review, and I still love it. Their beef dishes remain my favorites, but I'm also very impressed with the salmon, the mushroom soup, their lemonades (especially raspberry), and their desserts. Their lemon chicken and honey-glazed pork weren't as impressive, but still not bad. The service is great, and I think the decor is fine. I definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone.

This place tries to be very fancy but the experience was really awkward. We are not LDS and I didn't realize this was a dry establishment. So- unexpected, but totally fine except they were also out of ice tea, and since I don't drink soda, my only option was to drink water. I thought there could be more non-soda drinks offered, even if they are non-alcoholic and do not have caffeine. The food was presented nicely but unfortunately I didn't like my meal. I had the beef tenderloin but was cooked properly to temperature but the glaze was too sweet and the meat was too salty. I've never heard of an heirloom carrot, but it tasted just like any other carrot I've ever eaten. A number of people at my table ordered the caprese salad. We thought the mozzarella tasted cheap and processed. The tomatoes were tough and under-ripe. Just because they used yellow tomatoes does not mean they are extra flavorful. The best part of the caprese salad was the balsamic vinegar. What ever kind they used was well balanced between the tangy vinegar taste with a sweet after taste. As far as decor- I liked the lemon grove theme. It felt like being at Disney World or a themed park restaurant. But it was too bright in there. Awkwardly bright. But then the bathrooms were very dark... it was hard to see! Overall it was kind of a strange experience that would have been better if the food had been better.

This is my favorite restaurant in Utah County. The food is excellent. The meat and the vegetables always taste fresh and healthy. The salmon is very good. I loved the lemon chicken. I also recommend their desserts. I've had the lemon dessert and their chocolate mousse cake or whatever it was. They were both very good. I also really like the atmosphere. The lemon tree decorations are nice.

The restaurant obviously put more stock in the environment than the menu, but that said, it's way better than most of the franchise-tripe we're subjected to in Utah County. The food is definitely very fresh and the ingredients are of high quality. Which makes the fact that the price is reasonable all the more pleasing. The service has been decent. The place suffers a little from trying to be a fine-dining joint, without reaching that level. It's a very solid nicer-than-casual dining option in an area where there are so few.

The food here always tastes fresh and the restaurant has a fun ambience. Service isn't always the most attentive and the prices are bit high for what you get, portions seem a bit small (at least for what you expect when eating out). And the food is sometimes hit or miss in amazingness. I try to only eat meat that has been sourced from producers that have humane standards, and I've asked my servers before about where they get their meat, but I'm often met with uncertainty and inconclusive answers. Usually just being told its organic (which to me isn't quite the same thing). Because of this, I play it safe and choose from the meatless or fish options.

Had the beef medallions, which were not very flavorful and the sauce was kind of funky and not delicious in kind of a weird, annoying way. The service was friendly and the atmosphere was nice, though. :)

I've been here 4 or 5 times, it being relatively close to our office and a place that we can take out-of-towners for a local restaurant. I remember the food being a little bit better the first time I went, but know that memory is fallible. The chicken stuft crepes are my favorite and the beef medallions are not bad either. I read someone else say the potatoes they got with the beef were black, they are just purple potatoes and a nice touch. I agree that the owner adds something to the restaurant, I always like it when someone in a chef hat is asking how my food was. Try it at least once.

My brother and his fiance held their "meet the families/rehearsal dinner" here and unfortunately, the food was, as usual, sub-par. I went here a few times when it first opened and honestly never understood the hype. The decor is cute, the presentation is decent, the staff is unusually friendly, but no item on the menu is worth the calories -- and believe me, I've tried it all. This establishment's desperate attempt to bring a little sophistication and class to small town Provo failed miserably. Anyone who can honestly say this restaurant produces innovative dishes with fresh ingredients needs a serious slap in the face. The food gets 2 stars and the service gets 4. Even with the overly patient, genuinely nice and accommodating staff (they kept bringing me hot water and honey for my awful cough), I can only give this place 3 stars because overall, it was just "A-OK". I know I sound like a pompous ass, but I guess after being spoiled with the plethora of truly divine restaurants in and around DC at my disposal, it takes a lot more than smiling faces and lemon trees to make my stomach happy. ...with that said, the rest of our party (25ish people) DID truly enjoy the food and thought it was DELISH (in fact, they'd probably give the food 4 stars), so my review probably isn't an accurate representation of the average La Jolla Grove patron.

I would have to say that the food is good but they are trying way too hard to be a fancy restaurant. The portion sizes are ridiculously small, especially for the price. I don't mind spending good money on food but I want to be satisfied when I am done. The dessert is good but also comes with a big price tag. They are just trying to be something they aren't by charging such prices for the amount of food they give. Edit: the steak sandwich is delicious

This place is very pretty - but I would rather the food be great! It's not bad at all. It's just okay. I had the Caprese salad and the balsamic was great. The cheese had no flavor, nor did the unripe tomatoes. It was still edible however - thank goodness for salt and pepper. The Pesto Chicken pasta was also okay. Too many peppers for me and not enough sauce. Again - decent but nothing to write home about. The menu here reminds me of catered wedding food. Just okay...

I don't like writing bad reviews, because food really is great everywhere, but I can't bring myself to give La Jolla more than two stars (hopefully they prove me wrong in the future!). I went to La Jolla with high expectations- I had heard great things about this new, fancy, gourmet restaurant in the Riverwoods. My wife and I were impressed by the service and atmosphere, and the menu looked like what you'd expect at an upscale dinner joint. When they brought out our appetizer, it looked amazing, right up until we took the first bite. The Caprese salad looked just like a caprese salad should, but the taste just wasn't right. Our entrees were the same! The desserts were delicious, and the one saving grace as far as the food goes. Really disappointed, we decided we probably wouldn't go again. Reconvinced by my parents, we tried it one more time with my family. I'll admit, it was better. We had great appetizers and about half of the entrees were excellent. My problem with this place is that it just isn't consistent! I'm still waiting for the great experience I've been promised by friends and family, but considering the price, I probably won't give it another try for a while.

After reading the reviews and looking at the menu online, I was SUPER not impressed. Not worth it. Not going back, except maybe for take out cake. We went as a family after my sisters high school graduation. The only thing La Jolla Grove has going for it, is the look. It is really pretty. The fresh feel to the indoor lemon trees is kind of cool. Oh and the bruschetta was good. The end. We were in a larger group so we got to try lots of items off the menu. The salmon was dry, the pesto chicken pasta was bland, the tortellini sauce wasn't that great either & the beef tenderloin was trying to hard to taste like something. The servers wear all white and ours had an apron that was so stained and dirty that it looked like she used to chop meat in the back. It was also covered in pen stains from leaving pens without tops in her apron pocket. Over all it was a bad experience. The desserts were the saving grace, but you can get those take out. Try the lemon cake, the chocolate moose and the creme brulee- it has a nice citrus taste to it. Other Challenges- it is all in a wide open setting so I imagine it's quite loud when busy. Also the parking at the Riverwoods shopping center has gotten so much worse & beware of outdoor summer concerts.

After I wrote a glowing review of La Jolla Groves, my father-in-law ended up getting sick for over 24 hours because of what he ate there. He ordered the chicken and apparently they did not fully cook it. How disappointing for such a nice restaurant, especially because the rest of the meal was fantastic. My advice would be to steer clear of the chicken, or if you're dead set on getting it, cut it in half and check. If you doubt that it is cooked, send it right back.

Great high class food for a good price. My wife got the $4 mushroom soup. I don't even like mushrooms but that was the best soup I've ever had! I got the salmon which was a bit small but amazingly good. The vegetables surrounding it were fresh and delicious. Make sure to get their artisan breads which are great. The salmon size was perfect if you have some bread before hand. Will definitely go back. :)

Normally, I would have given this two stars, but based on the price/quality ratio, I had to lower it to one. I know others have given this place rave reviews (which is why we went), our experience was far from positive. SERVICE: Okay, at best. The waiter had absolutely no personality. I am not a fan of overbearing wait staff, but I also expect them to be somewhat engaging. Our server seemed like a robot. My water sat empty far longer than is acceptable a couple of times, which is one the biggest annoyances for me. We were not provided plates for the bread they brought out, and when I mentioned it to the waiter, he just grabbed us two without apologizing. Really, he didn't seem to care about anything. He only checked on us once. When the check was brought out, he failed to even thank us for dining there. FOOD: The food I had a La Jolla Groves came across as a dive restaurant trying to imitate Olive Garden (of which I am not a huge fan), but failing miserably. The worst part is they obviously want to be perceived as a step above places like Olive Garden, at least. The rolls brought out prior to the main course tasted like the kind you get out of the bins at your local grocery store. The Italian Soda I ordered was lacking in flavor. I LOVE Italian Sodas, tend to purchase them at any restaurant that sells them, and usually enjoy them. This was one of the few times that I was unable to enjoy it because the flavor just wasn't there. My main course was the Beef Tenderloin Medallions ($16.95), which is "Grilled Filet of Beef Tenderloin, Served with Roasted Baby Potatoes, Asparagus and Heirloom Carrots, Finished with a Mango-Teriyaki Reduction Sauce." I ordered the Medallions "well done"; however, all of them had significant redness in the middle. There was little to no flavor, which was true of the vegetables as well, The potatoes were completely overcooked. They were totally black and tasted burnt. The carrots and asparagus were undercooked. My wife ordered the Roasted Chicken & Fettuccini Alfredo ($13.75), described as "Tender Chicken Breast Served Over Fettuccini Pasta in an Asiago-Roasted Garlic Sauce and Tossed with Freshly Diced Vegetables." I won' go into too much detail, as I didn't try her dish, but she described it as extremely "bland" overall, making particular mention of the chicken. She said that tasted worse than the chicken strips you buy frozen from Costco. Here is the kicker regarding our main courses: they were brought out within 5-10 minutes of us ordering them. At a "nice" restaurant your food should NEVER come out that fast. If it does, it screams heat lamp and/or microwave, which is exactly how it tasted. Both my wife and I were VERY excited to get to try this restaurant; however, our expectations were far from met. The only redeeming value of or experience was the decor, which I thought was very interesting and unique. However, not even fake lemon trees are enough to get me back into that place.

Beautiful restaurant. Great food. Needs a little work on the service. Drinks were empty, refills took a long wait. The seared tuna on our salad was definitely overcooked. But overall we enjoyed this restaurant and we will go back. It's a lovely restaurant, great food, fair prices and I'm sure the kinks will get worked out.

I'd give it an extra star for the setting and decor, but the meals were just okay as was the service. Not sure why the restaurant is called La Jolla Groves. The last time we were in La Jolla there weren't any groves at all... That being said the decor is lovely. I think the Riverwoods is a beautiful and yet undiscovered pedestrian mall. The ironwork, the beautifully lit trees and walkways beg for a romantic stroll after a fine meal. Wish our dining experience could be described as fine but it wasn't. With a beautiful decor, shiny dishware and flatware, linen tablecloths and napkins and a waitstaff quite properly attired, there was an expectation of a delightful dining experience awaiting our group. I hoped for exceptional service and mouthwatering entrees. My hopes were dashed. The best thing about the menu, the appetizers and desserts. All totally yum. The entrees were presented nicely. Sadly, the pasta dishes were a disappointment. We tried a chicken pesto fusilli and a cheese tortellini and had more appetizing fares at the Olive Garden. Three in our group ordered the medallions; two of the three reported the meat was chewy, not tender or mouthwatering. The salmon was a hit. The crepes were delicious, but the portion size was pretty small in comparison with the amount of sauce and the huge plate/bowl in which they were served. Desserts were attractively plated; those that ordered desserts seemed happy. About the service; it would be nice to have all beverages served at once, perhaps with trays or additional waitstaff. The same with the entrees. Our server brought out two or three at a time. With a group of over twelve, this took a bit of time. Beware also that large groups have an automatic gratuity surcharge added. While I totally understand this secures a proper gratuity for the group, it all means the waitstaff [in our case] did not go the extra mile for a more generous tip. I rather like the checks that show the included gratuity on the receipt and also allow for an additional tip as opposed to blindly adding that surcharge to the total and leaving a gratuity line open. I want to like La Jolla Groves and may give it another chance over the summer. For now enjoy a stroll through the Riverwoods at night amid the beautiful lights and grab a bit to eat at one of the other dining establishments.

Whoever approved the menu here needs to go back to jr. high English class. This place needs to hire an editor before they print anything else. Not to mention the fact that there were tons of inconsistencies in the layout. I was totally embarrassed for them as soon as I looked at it. The service was sub-par. BUT, the food was pretty good.

Good food that isn't greasy and heavy. The Riverwoods have some other good options for food but this place is worth trying. I like the atmosphere here. I did have to flag down the waiter just to keep my water filled throughout the night.

I've eaten here twice now. Both times the service was a wreck. On my first visit, soup was brought to 2 of us, then when we were almost done with our soup, the salad arrived for the other 2 in our party, followed immediately by the entrees. Literally, e sald forks were still getting their salad plates situated when the entrees were crammed onto the table. 3 of our party ordered steak - no one received their steak as they asked for it to be prepared. Our server blamed it all on the new expediter. Ok, so the new guy is still working out the kinks. But then there's the second trip. This time we had our kids with us. Fortunately, they knew to bring out our childrens' entrees ASAP. However, our daughter's chicken fingers showed up 5 minutes before my son's mac + cheese, which was just regular old Kraft mac + cheese with a little extra cheese sprinkled on it. Then my soup arrived. 10 minutes later my wife's soup arrived, and mine was now lukewarm at best. Once I can forgive, but sloppy service 2 out of 2? There's a problem. Also, the restaurant doesn't really seem to know what it wants to be. It certainly has the air and the menu of a nice place (NOT fine dining by any stretch), but the service is FAR too hurried and harried to pull that off. Servers are practically running back and forth to the kitchen. Both of my children of course had to use the restroom during the meal, and on both trips, I had to dodge multiple servers who would have easily knocked me over had we made contact, never mind trampling my children. I hate to say it, but I won't be back. The food was pretty good on both occasions, but there are far better options available to consume my dining-out budget.

This is a great restaurant that just opened in the Riverwoods mall. Their goal is to have delicious food that is healthy for you. They do this by using organically grown ingredients whenever possible. The staff was very friendly and joked around with our group. They were very prompt in delivering refills which is probably the most important quality to me. We ordered a cheese appetizer and some bruschetta. These were both very delicious. Everyone else in the group enjoyed their meal, but my shrimp pasta was only decent. I did not enjoy the sauce on the noodles. The shrimp were very good though. Overall it seems like a great restaurant. The service is great, the food is good, and it is not expensive. I plan to go back soon

Closest thing to fine dining in the valley. Food was delicious, service 5 stars. We had a very large group and they accommodated our every whim. Pay no regard to the negative reviews, we had 10 in our party and every entree received compliments. I had the Ahi tuna salad and it was perfectly light. I splurged with the Lemon Tiramisu and sampled others. The Tiramisu was the crowd favorite. I would give it 5 stars but I'm real stingy with that rating.

New restaurant that will surprise your taste buds. Great food. You will love the salmon. Great spice infused rolls. The la Jolla salad was light and refreshing. Their Margarita had just the right amount of kick. You will love the ambiance and feel like you are under a grove of lemon trees at dusk. Great service as well. Lemon tiramisu was delicious!

This was a fantastic restaurant who's food was healthier, organic, natural and for all that was a fantastic price with most dishes between $10 and $15 Ambiance: A This place was amazing. It is decorated like a lemon grove inside of a beautiful vineyard hacienda. Found in the middle of the newly renovated Riverwoods central area, it is a beautiful addition. Service: A Despite being incredibly busy the staff was attentive and got us a table quickly. Our waiter was well versed on the entire menu and very helpful and friendly. The food was well-prepared and very timely in its delivery. Food: A This restaurant focuses on using foods grown organically in Utah. Typically when I see something like that on a menu I expect a handful of earthy salads and a couple chicken dishes that are passé. Fortunately I found this place to have a much wider and more delicious menu of options. Amuse bouche: Ok, so I only used that term because I heard it somewhere but what is the generic term for the bread or chips or other items restaurants bring to the table while you are ordering... in any case La Jolla Groves brings a basket of freshly baked breads that you can also order from their bakery which is attached. The roll I loved was one that I believe was a spinach asiago roll. It was warm, fresh and flavorful. Appetizer: We had the bruccetta which what fresh and flavorful. The crostini had a good crunch and flavor, which is a must for me, and the grape tomato bruccetta topping with freshly grated romano cheese gave it a fresh, sweet yet savory taste. My entrée: I had the tenderloin which is a dish I am always cautious with. Lucky for me someone at the table next to me had it delivered as I was debating it and it looked amazing. It was a very tender and juicy steak marinated to make it slightly sweet which, when paired with the mango chutney, was delicious. It was cooked perfectly (I ordered it medium rare) with a well seared outside with little corners of savory crust you expect from a good tenderloin. It came with potatoes and a couple asparagus spears which, for some, may seem like a small serving. If you are a big eater get a soup with this. My wife's entrées: My wife had the Mushroom Soup and the Philadelphia Steak Sandwich (came to about $14 together and was not too much or too little food). The soup was very rich and savory. It is now my favorite mushroom soup around. Her sandwich was on a freshly baked herb-flavored roll and had a tomato mayo which both set it apart from other Philly Steak sandwiches. It was very flavorful and the roll and mayo complimented the steak and provolone very well. The sandwich also included a side salad which was good but nothing to write home to mom about. Desert: We had the Chocolate Mousse Cake which is a small chocolate bundt cake that is very fluffy and light with the center filled with a molten rich chocolatey sauce and then garnished with a piece of milk chocolate that is slowly melting into the molten center. All served over a vanilla sauce to compliment the rich chocolate. Perfect size for about 1-2 people but is VERY rich so if you are not a rich desert person you will definitely want to share. Overall: A This was one of the best dining experiences in Utah for me. The ambiance was light and fun, the service prompt friendly and helpful, the food well prepared, presented and delicious and all for a price that was pleasantly surprising. Obviously I spent more as you can see from my order but if you are an appetizer and entrée person or an entrée and desert person you will easily get out around $20 a person. This is a place I will be visiting again VERY soon!

Great ambiance and great food! Admittedly I always order the same thing; the Beef Tenderloins. They have never let me down! They have a new cranberry bread pudding for dessert. If you're like me, "bread pudding" may not sound very appealing, but what a timely holiday dessert and it's fantastic!

Incredibly cheesy decor, but good food. I've had the watermelon/cucumber/mint salad and the mushroom ravioli in yellow tomato sauce. Both great. House salad only okay. Desserts were fine but not spectacular. Quite moderately priced.

La Jolla Groves opened this summer at the Riverwoods (where Ann Taylor/Classy Cuisine used to be). The atmosphere is really cool. They have trees all over the place with lanterns hanging from the boughs. Above the trees they've made the ceiling look like a starry night. Overall it gives the restaurant a really unique atmosphere. You can tell that La Jolla Groves uses fresh, high quality ingredients. They bring rolls and butter around before the meal. The rolls were good and there was a decent variety (wheat, white, sun-dried tomato, spinach, etc.) I ordered the bruschetta and the lemon roasted chicken. The bruschetta was really good, but small (only three pieces). The chicken was okay, but not great. The rest of my party ordered dessert, so I tried a few different things. Out of everything I tried, the chocolate cake dessert was by far the best (but so rich so I would suggest ordering a little vanilla ice cream on the side). I felt that La Jolla Groves was a bit pricey for what you get, but I wasn't surprised. I probably won't go back, but that is just a matter of my personal preference in the types of restaurants I go to. If you like this kind of place, I think you would really like it.

As far as the food goes (food comes first, after all), it's a safe and interesting place to eat. I would have given them 3.5 or 4 stars on the food alone. I think they try to offer somewhat more healthy dishes than you might find at other restaurants in the price range, which is laudable, and they do so without sacrificing too much in terms of taste. I have enjoyed most dishes that I tried. (I especially like the mushroom soup as an appetizer.) Not "rave to my friends" enjoy, not "mouth waters just remembering it" enjoy, but "thanks for a nice dinner" enjoy. However, despite what others have said, I find the ambience a little distracting -- I much prefer eating in the back room rather than under the canopy of faux lemon trees in the main dining room. The service is friendly bordering on eager--sometimes a little too in-your-face. However, the menus are Obviously Trying Too Hard With Their Improper, Unnecessary/Distracting Title Capitalization, and the over-the-top descriptions of the dishes betray just how much higher this restaurant is reaching than they can possibly hope to attain. For me, the whole place just screams "trying too hard, and failing". But it's still a fine place to eat if you're in Provo (since, let's be honest, there are only so many really good & reasonably healthy places to eat in Provo).

I really like the fact there is finally a different, semi formal, healthy dining establishment in Provo. This is a different option and they actually serve vegetables with their meals. We don't see that too often anymore. Very tasty meals...the salmon in particular was cooked perfectly and delicious. Great environment too.

I came here with a group from work for lunch, so maybe this review is slightly biased since doesn't everything seems to taste better when someone else is paying for it? The mushroom ravioli was delicious though, I would go back just for that. I heard nothing but great things from the other 15 people at our table, especially regarding the salmon and the beef medallions. The service was fine, a little slow but that could probably just be because of our large group. The only downside for me was the peach lemonade I ordered....it actually tasted amazing the first few sips, but by the time I got to the end of it I just felt sick, and continued to the rest of the day. Sad that it had to ruin my delicious meal, but now I know to stay away from that next time. But I like the atmosphere and think it would be great for a quiet date night or a fancier girls night out.

My first experience at La Jolla Groves was last week when we visited the restaurant for lunch. Inside the place is really cool with artificial lemon trees throughout the restaurant, their green leaves laden with yellow lemons. It was fun eating indoors but feeling as if you were almost outside eating in a grove of lemon trees. Service was great but the food on the other hand was for me disappointing. Maybe I ordered the wrong dish, that could very well have been the case. I wish I remember the exact name of the dish but I don't. It was a pasta dish with shrimp and the flavor was just not very good. It was very sweet and didn't have much flavor. For dessert I ordered the lemon cake that was recommend by our waitress. The cake was also disappointing, rather surprising since it is pretty hard to mess up on cake. The cake seemed to have been frozen and barely thawed. It was dense and cold and just lacked the freshness I was expecting. Maybe their cake is baked fresh and then chilled, if that is true I think their method is a mistake since to me it made the cake seemed almost stale. Whatever the reasons I'm sorry to say I didn't have a better experience at La Jolla Groves. My companions seemed to enjoy their food well enough which does led me to believe I may have just ordered the wrong dish. But as for now La Jolla Groves leaves me feeling that I've experienced better.

I like the tenderloin medallions but the service has been hit and miss. I've been here many times with groups from work and find that it is a very inconsistent place. Sometimes everything seems fresh and tasty, other times the same entrees are weak. Vegatables are often WAY over-cooked.

I was a big fan of Chef's Table when Chef Kent Anderson was the owner and was looking forward to eating at La Jolla Groves for several months now. I had some high expectations beforehand and believe me, I was not disappointed. The roasted artichoke and spinach dip was perfection, the rolls were melt-in-your-mouth delicious, my chicken and mushroom stuffed crepes were unbelievable (I don't even like mushrooms) and the moist lemon cake was scrumptious. I'll be recommending La Jolla Groves to everyone I know and will definitely be dining there in the future.

The place was very nice and the service was OK but the meal wasn't anything special and my meal was 4 bites. I ended up going to Marley's right after to feel satisfied. I was really disappointed with how little food they served.

Good, fresh food for a great price. None of the pasta is worth eating though. The menu also never changes so don't go back looking for something new because you will not find it.

Great atmosphere. Food was excellent. Staff was pleasant and efficient. We had the beef tenderloin and the salmon. Both were incredibly delicious (and I'm not much of a fish guy). Best high-class feel restaurant in Provo for the money - and the food is definitely well above average. Only complaint would be that the portions were smaller than I expected.

  • Robert M.

I was in the area on business and the hotel recommended this restaurant. The food was very good and the wait staff was attentive. My only real complaint was the ambience. The lighting was SO bright that I felt like I was on a stage. I would not suggest this place for an intimate or romantic evening. Hit the dimmer switch!

Great place! I got the beef tenderloin medallions and it was insanely delicious! It's a pretty fancy place, but the food's not as expensive as you would think. Everything is about $10-15 a plate. You won't be stuffed when you leave but the portions are definitely big enough. Just don't expect to get two meals out of it. The staff is very friendly and the decor is really nice. This would be a great place for a date or fancy dinner.

  • Dustin L.

This is an incredibly good restaurant. I especially love the simple, fresh menu and the cool indoor environment. My service was spectacular as well. The only complaint would be the portion size, but you can make up for it with bread or appetizers. Sirloin is DELISH!

I thought this restaurant was outstanding in all respects. We had a party of 5 at lunch today and each of us truly enjoyed our meals. The beef medallions dish, which 2 of us ordered, hit the mark - great taste. The salad, soup, deserts - all quite good. And the decor is very classy as well. All round, a great choice.

I have been to this restaurant several times and I have really enjoyed the food and the service at each meal. The free rolls they give you are almost as good as homemade and the balsamic vinaigrette is one of the best I've ever had. The salmon with cilantro butter tastes very fresh and is perfectly seared on each side. My husband ordered the chicken marsala and it was better than I've had at some Italian restaurants. For dessert, the orange creme brulee is very creamy, not gritty at all, and the orange zest lightens the heavy custard. I have also tried the lemon cake which, surprisingly, has a very pronounced lemon flavor in both the cake and the icing. I would definitely recommend this restaurant and will eat there again and again.

I happen to be in Provo on business. The wild berry smoothie is the best I have ever tasted in my life. The stuffed mushrooms were elegant and that beef tenderloin which was my main dish was fantastic. If there was a wine menu it would have been perfect. Nice decor, I would come here again.

Fantastic food, great service... The waiter was pleasant, helpful, courteous...almost Boy Scout like. The food was really good, the stuffed mushrooms are slightly short of UTTER FREAKING AWESOME. Missed being a 5 star only because of price/quality.

Heard much about the restaurant and had high expectations as the hubs and I were hoping for an intimate dinner experience. Called ahead to make a reservation. Got there and at the front entrance was greeted with a sign to the wedding of so&so; all other guests use the east entrance. Congratulations to couple but I wasn't really expecting to be redirected to a side door with a makeshift entrance. Alright, our dinner experience still had all potential to be epic. So we go back to the open side door we had already passed once; a simple sign for regular dinner guests would have been great. As we get seated, we get a glimpse of the wedding celebrations before being led into a smaller room for regular guests. It was not what I was expecting for an intimate dining experience. Waiters and waitresses were unorganized and chaotic. They continuously were walking between the tables holding glasses and dishes and asking guests whether they had ordered whatever they were holding. We got our dishes and I am utterly disappointed. The appetizer did meet my expectations: stuffed mushrooms. It was divine. Then we had salmon filet and tenderloins medallions. Presentation was good; flavor was disappointing. The whole tenderloin dish had little taste; we expected more. The salmon filet came with basmati rice, pan seared vegetables, and a cilantro butter sauce. The salmon was tasteless and I've had better frozen salmon at home. The vegetables could as well have been microwave steamed vegetables with absolutely no flavor. Rice had good flavor. However, the only reason I added on a second star is for the cilantro butter sauce. When I tasted the sauce I had an orgasmic experience in my mouth. It truly is the only reason why I could finish my plate. After we finished our meal we left as quick as we could and finished our night with a dessert at kneaders. Will I try La Jolla Groves again? Probably not.

La Jolla is a very good restaurant. I have eaten there on multiple occasions and it seems to be quite consistent. I am yet to leave not feeling satisfied and happy about my meal. The atmosphere is quite good. It has more of an upscale vibe that they seems to keep quite clean. I did check the bathroom and it to was up to par with the rest of the restaurant. As far as food recommendations, I really enjoy the chicken Marsala and the chicken Marsala sandwich. They also do a very good tomato mozzarella salad. They also have good fresh food smoothies. After my meal tonight I commented to a friend that La Jolla is a place that I feel good after. They use quality ingredients that don't leave you feeling like crap after eating the food.

Egregious coffee prices. The server said " yes a lot of people don't like it but the menu says we charge by the cup". I pointed out that I never saw or was offered a menu before I ordered plain pot brewed coffee ( not a fancy drink like cafe au lait). How could I know a $2 cup of regular coffee would cost over $20?? No apologies or consideration or comp. The staff was slow, food was cold, we were ignored the entire time, had to ask for everything, and we were the only customers in the restaurant (4pm). Everywhere in America coffee, water, and iced tea have free refills. La J is un-American or clearly needs to know learn cultural norms about the drinks they serve. boycotting

FIRST AND FOREMOST....service is slow and no they do not come back to check on you.... Salmon with vegetables could have been good had they not left it under a heat lamp for 20 minutes...the ingredients had the makings of a great dish but over cooked....

I really love this restaurant. I eat there as often as I can. Service has been what I hoped service ought to be at a restaurant of this caliber. The appetizers are well thought out and delicious. The décor is a breath of fresh air. I always feel welcome here. The main dishes are much better than what you get at most Utah restaurants and I would call the main dishes delicious. And the atmosphere of the location is wonderful. Great specialty and unique shops and even a really cool and fun play zone for kids and adults a few doors down called Provo Beach. I will continue to spend my money here because of it's value, feel, and taste I get to experience each time I return. I recommend this with 5 stars. p.s. you can go to La Caille restaurant in Salt Lake City and pay easily 3-4 times more for food no better than La Jolla Groves.

There are many things I really like about La Jolla Groves. First, I love that this Provo-based resto takes reservations - it's a rarity in these parts. Our party of four arrived, and were seated before we could even take in the atmosphere. They were definitely on top of it, especially for a Saturday evening. We've found the food and service here to be consistently good. They're very friendly and attentive. Informed...maybe not so much about everything. But always miles of smiles! I get such a kick out of UtCo wait staffers whose job it is to take bar/alcohol orders, but are completely clueless about the subject. Some even sport attitude, as if to say, "I wouldn't stoop to learn about alcohol, even if it is my job, you heathen!" Our waiter for the evening was spot-on in every way, but he did fall proudly under the above description, and didn't hesitate to let us know in his non-verbal way that he wasn't comfortable. We didn't even mind. The cocktails are not worth the price, however, as per usual for most UtCo places. The Hubby is much more adventurous here than am I, simply because I'm a little stuck on a couple of menu items - the Mushroom Bisque, and the Lemon Roast Chicken. Yes, they're so so good. Hubby loves the Tenderloin, the Pork Chop, and the Chicken Marsala - in fact, Mr. Hard To Please has raved about them all. Our friends order the Butternut Squash soup (also deserving of praise), the Shells and Cheese (delicious, they say!), and the Shrimp Scampi (he actually said he could eat three more plates of this!). Bottom line: we haven't had a single thing at LJG that we would hesitate to order again. My one gripe - aside from the Lemon Cake, which is very good but rich-rich-rich, they only offer ONE lemon dish? C'mon La Jolla, step up the lemon-based offerings for those of us who come here for this exact reason! Note: be prepared to do some substantial walking to/from parking here. Riverwoods has blocked off nearly every means of getting from lot to lot, so really just cross your fingers and hope you don't freeze on the way to insulate yourself with more yummy food.

First time at La Jolla after a few people had recommended it to me. I would definitely say for the decor and service, you're paying for it. The prices are pretty good for a high end restaurant and the food itself was good. I wouldn't say this is the top of the line 5 star food but it's getting close. Service was definitely superb and the attention and details that went into presentation. Food wise, I ordered the beef and shrimp, a few appetizers (cheese platter, mushroom and spinach/artichoke which were all decent). The food itself was good and tasty although the beef sauce was on the bit salty side. Dessert was definitely interesting with the lemon cake. I would come back but only on special occasions.

We enjoy their salads like the Apricot Cranberry salad and Grilled Salmon salad although the quality of greens does not always come out the way it did before when we ordered it. The price is a bit much for what they offer in salad. I've had their Turkey Club sandwich and it's pretty good with their focaccia bread and pesto sauce, and it comes with a side salad. Their dessert menu does not consist of much but if you must have dessert then choose the lemon cake. It's like a lava cake with vanilla bean sauce in the middle, and it has a nice caramelized shell for appeal. They offer premium smoothies; I'd recommend the strawberry or piña colada.

  • Ryan P.

Very disappointing. The online menu looked great. However, there was little to no cilantro in the cilantro-salmon dish, the mango-ginger glaze tasted artifical and not freshly made. The most disappointing aspects were that the waitier did not come check on us once or ask how the food was and there was a flying buf issue. One landed in the beef tenderloin dish and got stuck. Not sure we'll go back.

Usually when I'm not a fan of a restaurant I never have to go again. Unfortunately my mother in law likes La Jolla Groves, so this won't be my last time:/ The decor and vibe of the restaurant is great. The lemon groves built in to the dining room stands out from anywhere I've eaten. The place settings and napkins are yellow to accent the lemons and lights above you. I like it for the atmosphere, but the food just doesn't quite hack it. Neither does the staff. Asking for an adjustment to the way meat was cooked or noticing something on the menu wasn't included seems like quite the burden. I've had five dishes here and none were awful but none have made me feel like my $20-30 meal was worth it.

Food was AMAZING! Perfectly cooked. Service was poor. Good atmosphere. felt fairly ignored by waiters who took forever just to get drink orders and left before gettin g them all. but we did stay and order and whoever's cooking back there right now is top shelf!

  • Nathan M.

Atmosphere gets 5 stars - really a beautiful restaurant. I've been here 3 times now and each time I leave thinking the food wasn't worth the price. Everything is just $5 too expensive it seems. I did have my favorite meal I've had the last time I went there - the steak medallions are amazing. Just amazing. If you get one thing on the menu I'd suggest it be that. The bruschetta was pretty soggy - too much topping on not enough bread so I'd suggest getting a different app if you're going to get one. Great place for a classy ambiance, but be ready to pay for it.

I loved this place! I went earlier in the day, so my wife and I almost had the whole place to ourselves. It was our anniversary, so it was kinda nice. We had 2 appetizers (the butternut squash soup, and the roasted artichoke and spinach croustade) which were both phenomenal. We shared them, and neither of us could decide what we liked more. I couldn't decide what I wanted for the entree, so we got 3. I got the tenderloin medallions, and the baked shells and white cheddar gratin, and my wife got the cilantro-butter crusted salmon. The medallions were to die for! I loved every bite. My wife raved over the salmon as well. The shells and cheese were a bit under seasoned, but at least it had bacon. For desert, I got the Lemon cake (which was amazing) and my wife got the chocolate bundt cake (again, we couldn't decide which we liked more). All in all, with 2 appetizers, 3 entrees, and 2 desserts, it was just over $80. Not nearly as much as I was expecting. The service was good, but the food was delicious. It's my new favorite restaurant, hands down. We'll be coming back for sure.

  • Laurie T.

The food was very mediocre. We got several appetizers and none of them were great. I got beef tenderloins. The flavor was good but the food was lukewarm so it ruined the whole thing. The waiter raved about how good the lemon cake was so we got that, and it was a big disappointment. It was cold (obviously had been frozen) and very dry. Pretty, but tasteless. I can say I'm happy I wasn't the one paying the bill.

Last night, we had dinner at La Jolla Groves. Do not order the chicken Alfredo... terrible pasta and chicken. We enjoyed the soups and the salmon salad looked very good. The service was so, so.

    (3)
  • Alysha F.

The mushroom soup was amazing. I got the herb chicken with ribbon pasta. The pasta noodles didn't have much flavor to them. You would expect them to be buttery but weren't. It was better last time we ate there a few months ago.

  • David B.

The food is reasonably priced and good quality. It isn't gourmet, but it is very good. Portions are relatively petite. I had the crusted salmon on basmati rice and vegetables, and my wife had the chicken Alfredo pasta. Both were very good. The citrus creme brûlée was slightly tangy with the obligatory sugar crust on top, and the cream lemon cake was slightly tart without being too sweet and exquisitely presented. The service was friendly, and the decor is very nice. It feels upscale, with table linens and a portion of the restaurant with a lemon grove inside. They also have a windowed veranda that looks out onto the pavilion stage where they often have live music performances in the evening. It's a good place to take a date for a nice evening.

  • Jason S.

I visited La Jolla Groves on a suggestion. I had no idea, since it was sooo packed, that the experience would be so marginal. While it's a bit cute with the 'grove' inside the restaurant that's about where it stops. All of the food literally seems like it came out of a package. Beyond that, the 3 of us all got a bit sick about an hour after leaving LJG. Perhaps in Provo, this spot is what passes as haute cuisine but, to me, the food seems very much what you would find in a sub-par chain resto. They did have a lot of waitstaff but it also seemed that many of them spent time just hanging out which was odd given how busy the restaurant was. Oh, and it's waaay overpriced for the caliber of food you receive. There are several other restos in that complex (which I didn't get to visit) which I'm sure can't be any worse.

Just a few interesting facts in the world that we may not have foreseen a year ago: A 16-year-old boy named Justin Bieber is the most popular human being on earth; Conan O'Brien has a show on TBS; Jimmer Fredette and the BYU men's basketball team are ranked No. 3 in the nation (for now); Charlie Sheen is a crack addict (Okay, you saw that one coming -- Two and a Half Men is awful, by the way); and finally, the Provo culinary scene is booming with new, delicious restaurants that are worth trying. There seems to be a throng of fresh, creative restaurants springing up all over Utah County -- places like Communal, Pizzeria 712, Station 22 and Rooster, just to name a few. I recently discovered a new restaurant that made me even more proud to be a Provo-ite: La Jolla Groves. Tucked in the newly enhanced and bustling Shops at Riverwoods, La Jolla Groves is using fresh, locally-grown ingredients to prepare their insanely delicious dishes. In fact, the restaurant's slogan is "Insanely good food, healthier ingredients" -- very appropriate, if you ask me. There's something special about produce that was grown just a few miles from where it was cooked and served. All of La Jolla Groves' produce comes from their local farms and greenhouses. You can taste the freshness. You really can. I believe that's the most important reason why their menu is so delicious. The second reason is the chefs know what they're doing. I ordered the roasted chicken marsala with au grautin and sweet potatoes, and it was cooked to perfection. The chicken was moist, tender and seasoned perfectly, the potatoes were creamy, and the sauce was buttery and rich, but not overpoweringly so. It's interesting how food that should be so heavy and dense can be made to taste light and delicate. That's what you get at good restaurants. Eating at La Jolla Groves is like dining in a lemon orchard -- literally. If you look to the ceiling, you will see branches and leaves with hanging lemons. It seems like it's designed to make you feel like you're in California, which is definitely not a bad thing. I'm a big fan of the décor. You can tell they care about the customer experience. La Jolla Groves' staff is educated and accommodating. The last time my wife and I went we had to wait a bit longer than expected for our entrees, which we hardly even noticed anyway. A few minutes after our entrees arrived, the manager came by and said, "We noticed that your entrees took a little longer than expected. Save some room, we want you to pick anything you want off of the dessert menu, on the house." Well, as if we weren't already won over, the service made the food taste even better. Of all of the things we didn't see coming, delicious eateries springing up in Provo may not be such a surprise. Please go and check out La Jolla Groves -- I promise you will be a belieber... I mean, believer.

While the fake lemon tree arbor decor was decidedly suburban gaudy, the food was excellent at La Jolla. I ate here with a large group recently. The service was thorough and prompt. Try the stuffed Mushrooms - they were juicy and flavorful. The Coupe De Grace was the four layer chocolate mousse. Don't miss it!

This is one of my favorite places. The beef medallions have been our absolute favorite, however my husband just ate there yesterday and he said they weren't as good as normal. Maybe there's a new chef or something?
