Went here with my husband on a Friday night. We were the only customers, which was an ominous sign. But we decided to try it anyway. The owner was a little unfriendly and wasn't quick in getting our food out. Also, I was handed a dirty spoon and found a spider crawling through our napkins. Gross. The food? It was what I expected. Sugary, American-style Chinese food. Not terrible, but not worth it either. I would rather go somewhere else for Asian food.

I'm kind of hesitant to give this place two stars. We were the only ones in the restaurant during prime dinner hours. The food was way too sweet and soggy which made it nearly inedible. My wife wouldn't touch it and I was just too hungry to care. You'll get everything you expect from a cheap Chinese place here, so just don't go.

We were on vacation and in Provo looking for a place to have lunch and ran across this place on Yelp. The exterior isn't much to look at and the interior is a bit dated but the food is great, the server was nice and we had a good experience here. The lunch specials give you a lot of food and there's a good variety of entrees to chose from. We would definitely go back. Well, if we find ourselves in Provo again.

Congratulations China Garden... you are the best chinese place... (insert drum roll) on center street... wait wait... in provo city limits.... but hey there isnt much competition. You get a free drink with your lunch... so incase you didnt have enough sodium from the soy sauce... have some more... and kill yourself slowly, but its a nice gesture lets be honest. And when i say FREE i mean you pay about 6.99 per lunch. Well their cream cheese wontons were so freaking delicious (based on friedness... a new word, and cream cheese taste, which was great). The down side you get six for $6 not worth it at all. They are the best I have had in a long time but... $6 are you freakin crazy? yes... yes you are. The general chicken is tasty I recommend it... the sesame chicken... tasted exactly the same so... i suggest you get that too. They all taste the same. But I will definitely go back to try some of their other dishes. The rice is nice and soft... almost to the point of being too soft... yes the horrid word for rice... mushy. But they walk the line so well that it tastes really good so... i liked it. Guess what... its a lot of food. Think about it. THE VERDICT: Best chinese food in provo (just compare dates on my chinese food place reviews). Its just a great party and i loved it. What else do you want me to say? oh yeah, i guess you are right i haven't said i love you in awhile. Well youll have to wait just a little bit longer ho!

The dumplings are the best thing here. The main reason that I come back. I've tried different variations of their dinners, but never enjoyed them as much as the dumplings. So let me tell you a little bit more about them: They are big, thick, and fried just enough to give them a crispy/chewy texture. I always get the hot chili to mix with the normal sauce and it makes everything better. The meat filling is so good. When you go to a chinese place like this you expect the small "I've seen these everywhere dumplings/pot stickers" but these are different. Worth the trip in my opinion

Sorry but the sweet and sour dinner was over cooked. The egg drop soup was good. We had heard a lot of good things about this restaurant but was sadly disappointed.

Owner is dope. Food is good. If you don't like it then you ordered the wrong thing. This place is probably too good for you.

China Garden, which was previously located in south Provo, has relocated to Center Street. Same good food at good prices. I was a frequent customer at the previous location and will definitely keep coming back. I tried some thing different tonight, the Mongolian Beef, and wish I had tried it before. Great place and friendly lady who owns the place.

Used to be located in south Provo, China Garden is now on Center St in Provo. The food is excellent. I have never had better Chinese food and I have eaten at many restaurants. The price is always low and you will not leave hungry.

Great food and great prices. Owners are great. I would recommend this place to anyone. Anyone that doesn't like this food doesn't know Chinese food.

I was so happy when I found out that china garden had relocated. It is Hands down the best Chinese food place in this valley. Great food with lots of flavor. Their is distinction in the sauce and not everything taste the same but a different color. Great low prices and great portions. My wife and I always get take out from here and one entree is enough to feed us both and it comes with white rice. It is perfect and Im glad I found it again

I've tried a number of Chinese joints in and out of Utah and the best I've ever had was a place in Maui. This place is a close #2. They hand bread their chicken and food is usually made to order. My favorite dishes are #1 General Tsoas Chicken #2 Mongolian beef #3 Sesame chicken #4 Chicken Lo Mein The beef and broccoli is very good, almond chicken very good. Shrimp fried rice is great. As far as service goes. This is a Mom and Pop operation. Family owned and operated. They have no hired help outside the family. (They hail from Taiwan BTW). I've seen the owner/waitress get fairly frustrated and sometimes with customers. They also run a little bit slow, but again its a family business and the food is pretty fresh. So, sometimes great food will require a little more time than your rewarmed junk you get from a lot of chain places.

The lunch special is a pretty good deal. Entree with fried rice, soup, a spring roll, and a drink for 6 to 9 bucks. I had the egg drop soup, and the general tsos chicken. The soup was pretty good, but the entree was just drenched in sauce, which made the chicken turn soggy really quickly. The sauce was pretty bland and not even a little spicy, even though it is advertised as being so. My husband had the sweet and sour chicken and the sauce was almost exactly the same. The spring roll filling was pretty good, but fried to death. The portion size was really large, I took almost half of it home. It isn't a bad value for how much you are getting. Basically it is just another bland chinese place. Not too great, not too bad.

Good little dive Chinese food place with large portions. One plate could easily feed two because the portions are insane. The price point can't be beat! Not the healthiest of food choices but if you want to indulge in some fried goodness with large portions this is the place to go!

This is a great place! The chicken in the General Tao, Orange Chicken, Lemon Chicken is amazing. Crispy on the outside and very soft and moist inside. The Chicken and Crispy Noodles is amazing, rice is good. Can't say enough good about. The decor isn't the best, but it's clean and you don't eat the decor! This brings back memories of the old Grand View. Best Chinese food in Utah Valley.

I usually follow the old adage, " if you can't say something nice, don't say anything at all." I'm making an exception because I wish I hadn't wasted my money and I don't want others to make the same mistake. Pros: very friendly woman at the counter. Almost enough to make me want to skip the review. Sorry nice lady. :( Cons: watered down soda, watered down sauces, almost no vegetables. The chicken in the moo goo tai pan looked like a pressed chicken nugget without the breading. The sweet and sour chicken was all breading, no noticeable chicken, very little sauce. It left a chalky tast in my mouth. The egg rolls were the size of fat pencils we used in grade school, but shorter. The "beef soft noodles" (like low mein) were fat and soft, like overcooked Ramon. Imagine normal takeout Chinese food, then lower your expectations. There was no one in the restaurant when I went into get the order and the nice lady confirmed my name as soon as I walked in. Apparently I was the only take out order as well. Man, I hate to leave such a bad review, but we will not be back.

Tanner Dahl is a wise man. This is awesome place. I love the lady that runs the place. She's kinda kooky but she always remembers us. So this place is dope.

Chinese Cuisine

The popularity of Chinese food in America can be adjudicated by the appearance of China Town in many major cities in the United State of America. The popular trend of ordering or opting for Chinese take away food isn't unknown in America. Chinese take away food comes to rescue when you're too tired from work or too exhausted to cook. No one can resist the temptation of eating spicy noodles, shrimp, chicken, beef or pork cooked in the sweet and spicy sauce. The cooking method of authentic Chinese food is a lot different compared to what is served in America.

Generally, Chinese use dark meat small bones and organs to cook dishes but this changes when you are eating American-Chinese fusion food prepared using white boneless meat cooked with broccoli, carrots and onions. Back in China, the food is less spicy and oily as they favor steaming and braising method for cooking the most popular dishes. So, if you have a taste for authentic Chinese food, then try finding a real Chinese restaurant in the city. You can also try the most popular fusion Chinese food like Pecking Duck, Chicken Feet, Hot Pot, Shrimp Dumpling Soup, Mapo Tofu, Wontons, Chop Suey, Egg Rolls and not to forget Fortune Cookies.

There are not many restaurants in America serving authentic Chinese food. A little research on Restaurant Listings directory can help you locate the best Chinese restaurants in the city. Chinese cuisine is continuously evolving, and you can find a variety of dishes categorized as the food for lactose intolerant, gluten intolerant, vegan, vegetarian, and diabetic friendly. So, if you have a group of friends with different taste patterns, save the hassle and visit the nearest Chinese restaurant in your city.
