High Blood Pressure at Applebee's

Most of the foods served at Applebee's restaurants are high in sodium. Unless you are visiting the restaurant or dining here in the group, there are hardly any options from the main meals if you wish to keep your blood pressure in check. You can rely on a few salad options though. If lucky, you may find low-sodium ribs as well at the restaurant.

Foods to Avoid at Applebee's for High Blood Pressure

Avoid Green Goddess Wedge at Applebee's. Broccoli Cheese Soup and French Onion Soup contain over 1000mg sodium and hence must be skipped as well. Skip all the chicken dishes and seafood at Applebee's except Grilled Chicken Breast and Baked Haddock without sides respectively. You must also skip Brunch Burger, Quesadilla Burger, Triple Bacon Burger, and Whiskey Bacon Burger at Applebee's. High sodium intake can be lethal for a high blood pressure candidate. Avoid ordering foods that contain over 1000mg sodium at Applebee's, especially if you're dining alone.

Pricey but always delicious. Love that you can buy full lives of bread and quarts of soup as well!

I was spending a lot of time at Timpanogos Regional Hospital and this was close by the hospital. It became my favorite lunch place near the hospital. The bread was so good - I try not to eat bread but with the hamburger vegetable soup they gave me a piece with butter - oh my to dip it in the soup was so amazing. The salads are so good. I ordered the Cobb salad and a slice of bread came with it too with a cinnamon butter. YUM! The tortilla soup was my husband's favorite. Later in the week I ordered the Curry Chicken Salad sandwich and a cup of tortilla soup. It was good but the sandwich appears to be small when you are used to Subway. You get more value with the salads. Everything here is healthy and good. Love the soups. They are closed on Sundays.

Despite a pretty nice place to eat lunch, the menu is really built around the idea of creating packaged meals for business lunches. I've had their lunches delivered to business meetings before and they were pretty good. They are packaged and designed around not going bad in an hour. Sandwiches like Subway go gooey and mushy in an hour. However, when eating it at the cafe, that's not a good thing. The sandwich is inoffensive. The other food too. The atmosphere the same. Unfortunately, I can only dump it on the pile of acceptable, but not particularly good sandwich shops around town.

This is my favorite deli in Utah County. I find that other delis either have bland sandwiches, or try too hard to be unique, and end up drowning their food in sauces that make the bread soggy. I'm a big fan of their sandwiches here--a great balance of meat and cheese for the bread, which is always fresh and delicious. I've dined both in-store and ordered their box lunch at work. The box lunches are beautifully packed and made fresh that day. My only recommendation on the box lunch is to avoid getting a sandwich with bacon in it. By the time it reaches you, the edges are hard and chewy (on the order of plastic), but my husband got a sandwich with bacon on it when we dined in, and that was just fine. My favorite sandwiches: Roast Beef Deluxe and the Club. As far as dining in, the atmosphere was slightly industrial, and less well-lit than I would have preferred, but since their expertise is delivery and box lunches, I won't fault them for that. All in all, I find it to be a simple, consistent, and reliably good deli for lunch (and only for lunch, since their hours are something like 10 am - 4 pm).

I had the BLT deluxe. It was very good. The bread was soft with a good flavor. My son had a grilled cheese, it was cold. The cookie that comes with the meal was scrumptious! Will definitely go back. I will try the soup next time.

I had been wanting to try this place out for a while now, and decided that it should replace my Progresso soup as my lunch today. Good night, I'm glad I made the switch today. When I got to the place, it was far more desolate than I expected it to be, but I guess I went after the lunch rush. My food came out to me super fast and I was back on my way to work. When I opened up the carton, I thought that I was jipped for spending my hard-earned $7.52 on a small sandwich wrapped in plastic wrap. You know the smell that some types of plastic wraps have that seeps into your food so that your food now tastes like the nasty smell of the plastic wrap? That always happened in high school. My school served these cinnamon rolls in plastic wrap, but all you could taste on the first layer was that nasty wrap...thank goodness those things only cost $.75. Enough with the trip down memory lane - I was afraid that the sandwich was going to taste like crap, but was SO wrong. That thing was so friggin' good. The bread that they served my roast beef with provolone and cheddar on was a fresh-baked, 12 grain bread. So good. Then they put five thick slices of roast beef on there...which made the sandwich FAR more filling than I originally expected. I was glad that they put the condiments, including a tomato, on the side. I'm boring and I hate sauces on my sandwiches, as well as tomato, so this was perfect. In addition, they gave me a bag of chips, a pickle (ooh, I love pickles), a chocolate chip cookie, and a peppermint patty. Not too bad. I thought that I would be completely unsatisfied with the amount of food I got and the quality. Instead, I fell in like with the place...good, good food. But it looks like I'll be eating that Progresso for dinner now...sad. Holy crap! My 100th Review! I spend too much money.

This review concerns the company's Box Lunch Menu. The small company I work for has ordered from this menu about three or four times in the last couple years for business meetings. This review reflects my most recent experience that occurred a couple days ago and is indicative of all of my dealings with Apple Spice Junction. Overall, my response to the food for the prices charged is "meh." To begin, I find that this menu is quite unnecessarily restrictive. For example, most other sandwich places I know of allow you to select the kind of bread you want. I ordered the BLT, but I wanted wheat bread. I couldn't make any substitutions, so I had to order the BLT Deluxe (and pay an extra buck) to get wheat bread. But I didn't want the avocado and sprouts on this sandwich and those would have just gone to waste. Also, instead of potato chips I wanted the fresh veggies for a side, but again I couldn't choose this side without shelling out an additional $2.50 to get the "Executive Box Lunch." The company paid for my lunch, but I don't want to waste money during these tough times. The prices are too high for what you get. The items on this menu start out between $6.99 and $7.99. The boxes are quite appealing and convenient to hold your food, but what's inside is quite disappointing. For example, my BLT was on a couple of slices of bread that seemed to be from a loaf of Wonder Bread you'd get at the grocery store. The bread's flavor and texture did not taste like it was freshly baked. The sandwich had three small bacon strips, two very thin tomato slices, and a couple small lettuce heads. The only sauces were two small generic packages of mustard and mayo. I appreciate that the sauces came on the side, but they were boring and unimaginative. Although the bacon and lettuce were both deliciously crisp and flavorful, the sandwich as a whole was very mediocre. For the same amount of money, I can go to other places for more options, more food, and higher quality. The free delivery does not mitigate the price that you pay for what you get. The side items were alright, but not amazing. Like I said before, I wanted the veggies but the potato chips were okay. Luckily they were oil free and had reduced fat. A cookie was also included for dessert. Now, cookies are my absolute weakness but this one was a disappointment. It was only slightly chewy and didn't taste fresh at all. To be honest, I thought it was one of those processed packaged cookies you can get at Target or someplace. Not to be gross or mean, but I took one bite, chewed a little, and spit it out in my napkin and threw the rest of it away. Didn't want to waste calories on a bland dessert. In Apple Spice Junction's defense, however, I will say that I'm impressed with their customer service and marketing. We ordered these lunches for a board meeting when some of the board members arrived much earlier than expected. Although they warn customers right on their menu to place calls early in the morning, they accommodated our schedule like they always do. We ordered online and didn't wait long for our food to arrive. The lady who delivered was very pleasant and nice to work with. Additionally, they have sent someone to personally give us complimentary plates of cookies three or four times over the years in an effort to engage us. We appreciate that they do work hard to earn business. Again, not really a fan of their cookies, but I appreciate the gesture. Still, their great service does not overcome their weak, overpriced food. I don't know if my company will place another order, but it won't if my vote counts. I would recommend another place for lunch. Utah County has a reputation for being cheap, and that goes double for small businesses. If Apple Spice Junction wishes to thrive in this market, then it needs to improve the value it offers customers. I would suggest enhancing food quality, diversifying the menu, and allowing for greater customer flexibility.
