One of our favorites! It's a beautiful hour drive from Salt Lake. Take the scenic route east up I-80 and down I-84, it's a wonderful drive any time of the year. We haven't had a bad meal there yet. The diversity of dishes and spontaneity of flavors is always fun. Eat outside if you can. The sounds from the highway can be a bit close, however, the peacocks, mountain views and garden areas are stunning. Taggart's Grill is a destination!

Peacock welcoming committee, amazing deserts, and the jalapeño burger was amazing. The only thing that could make it better is if it had more room. Waits can get a little long. The good news is that the setting of the restaurant is beautiful.

How have I missed this place?? I mean seriously, a little place, barely visible from the freeway, 10 miles from anywhere. And the best food for several counties! Being a Friday night, we had about a 40 minute wait. They cruelly make you sit across from the dessert counter and stare at the most delicious cheesecakes, carrot cakes, and other goodies. By the way they were flying out in to go boxes I knew that 1.) this was going to be a big meal and 2.) I better pre-order the coffee cheesecake before my piece gets eaten by someone less deserving. We started with the chips and homemade salsa. Chips were a solid "meh" but the salsa was fantastic and made up for it. Just the right balance of garlic, spice, and heat. The soup, oooohhh the fantastic soup. Creamy chicken with artichoke and this honestly would have been a satisfactory dinner with the homemade bread they serve it with. Divine. We both ordered the sirloin. One medium and one medium rare. Both cooked perfectly and dressed with mushrooms and a bit of hollandaise sauce. Served with sautéed squash and the best scalloped potatoes you've experienced. At a $27 price tag the value is great for the perfection of the steak matched with the great sides. And yes, the cheesecake made it home in a to go bag.

A favorite place to stop. Nestled in the mountains of Morgan, UT. Food is always fresh, yummy desserts. Staff is always friendly.

When I'm on the road, I prefer to go where locals go. Taggart's brings new meaning to this. When my client told me that it was in the middle of a mountain and that if I blinked I would miss it, he didnt lie. The best part? Warning signs about keeping an eye on your kids when outdoors cuz of rattlesnakes #wicked! The food menu surprised me. I didnt expect such quality and assortment. Service was excellent and friendly, disproving the fact that all teens are jerks. LOL One tip: Do NOT leave without eating their cookie. It's slammin!

The food here is mediocre at best. I would never eat a meal here again, it is flavorless. But I would return for the desserts. The carrot cake is to die for and the sugar cookie is amazing! Next time I'm just getting dessert to go

I'm not sure why this place has a ton of positive reviews... I found the place to be decent, but far from 4-5 stars. The food was good, not great, but good. The burgers were okay (far from the best in the state as someone wrote in a review), the salads were good but the dressings lacked flavor and were below average. The fish and chips were bla and so was the service (and it took five minutes for her to show up and another five minutes just to get our drinks). I will say that they bread, buns & pita bread that they had were amazing and I will stop and grab a few when driving between here and Wyoming... but that doesn't happen very often if at all so I doubt I will be back. The service did make su feel rushed the entire time, but the establishment itself was very nice, but nothing to write home about.

Fabulous atmosphere and food. I ate their beer battered mushrooms, which are above average. I then had their chicken enchilada for dinner, and that was excellent, some of the best I've ever had!! I also are outside and liked the sound of the small waterfall, and I also got a glimpse of the peacock! Highly recommend this place, well worth the drive!

Had the chicken enchiladas and portobello burger. Fries with the burger were excellent. Enchiladas came with Alfredo sauce rather than the standard red stuff.

Definitely a surprise! This hidden gem is tucked away between mountains - it has a great atmosphere. The dining room was a little chilly, but we had coats so we were fine. We started with the pita bread appetizer. The pita was phenomenal, but the "pesto" sauce tasted closer to ranch than pesto (not that I'm complaining). The menu is surprisingly diverse - they offer pizza (on pitas), sandwiches (on pitas), mexican food (on pitas), and burgers (with choice of bun or pita). Didn't expect such pita love in the middle of Utah. The burgers were HUGE, and topped with all sorts of fun stuff! (I did not expect sprouts at this place). The buns were delicious and hearty. Our server was great and admitted if she didn't know something (she seemed pretty young and couldn't answer our beer questions, so she sent over someone more knowledgeable). Overall, a great experience!

Not impressed at all. The service sucks. I came with my baby and asked for a high chair. When we went to turn it over, they told me I couldn't. I asked for a sling and the waitress just staired at me. Not kid friendly. I came with a large group. When they came to seat us they wanted to wait for the whole group to arrive. We were only waiting for 4 out of 16 people. We couldn't sit all together, they split us up into 2 tables. The food was ok, not great. I got the jalapeño burger. It was to sweet for me. When you get a jalapeño burger you don't expext it to be sweet. I got the turtle cheesecake for dessert. I got it to go because I was here for a birthday party and they brought a cake for everyone. The waitress came and stated we couldn't serve the cake, they "dont allow outside food". Then they said we could serve the cake we brought, for $2 a person. That would be $32 for the party. So I ate my cheesecake that had planned on taking home. It tasted like a cheesecake you would buy in the freezer at the store and defrost at home. For $6.99 I expected it to be much better. The entire time I was here it felt as if the staff had a god complex. As if I was putting them out by asking for things. I dont know if they were busy (they didn't seem that busy) but whenever I would ask for anything, the waitress would let me finish talking. She would say ok and rush off. I would not recommend this place at all. I will never eat here again.

NOT FOR LARGE PARTIES OR BIRTHDAYS We called about a party of 16 plus 2 high chairs... We were told they don't take reservations but could call ahead 30 minutes before we arrived. It's an hour from SLC, so when we were 30 minutes away we called ahead and were told they don't accept call aheads for parties over 12!! We asked for the two high chairs at the end of the tables, and we're told "we cannot put high chairs there but we can put regular chairs there." We were asked if our orders were together or separate, we said just divided into 3 families, then she said "it's really too difficult for me to split up." We brought our own birthday cake with small paper plates for a 16th birthday, and while cutting it were told, "we don't allow outside food.... Well we do but we charge you $2 PER PLATE!!" So an additional $32 to serve our own cake that we brought!! And we were ALSO buying their desserts to take home!! We were so disgusted by their horrible treatment we won't ever make this mistake again!

Excellent place. I ordered the Spinach Enchiladas. Wow!!! Every bits was amazing. The phrase you give up taste when you give up meat is untrue with this dish. Every entrée I watched come out looked fantastic. Got there @ 5 on a Friday and had a 20 min wait for a table. If that tells you anything. Well worth it.

It had been a long time between visits - think years... and a brunch here was WAY overdue. It was a good as I remembered. The service is great and the food came quite quickly for a busy Sunday morning. We'll be back... lots...

Excellent food. We started off with the artichoke dip served slightly warm with hot pita bread slices and black corn chips. It's completely different than your average Applebees spinach artichoke dip so as long as you go in realizing this, I think you'll like it. It's white, creamy, and has a strong cream cheese rate. For my entree, I had the French Dip Sandwich, which was more like a Philly Steak and Cheese Sandwich. I got mine with cheese, roast beef chunks (Their French Dip isn't sliced, it comes in chunks instead), onions, green peppers, and no mushrooms. It was warm, gooey (because of the homemade pita bread) and absolutely delicious! My wife had the shredded chicken enchilada. It was also very good. We both got a garden salad which included green lettuce, shredded cheddar cheese, black olives, grape tomatoes, shredded carrots, and ranch dressing. It was good but it would have been great had it been COLD. In contrast, think of how cold aTexas Roadhouse green salad is. We went after tubing the nearby river and, during this time of year, that's probably a bad idea as our wait was 90+ minutes! However, we waited it out and simply ordered desserts while waiting. Their carrot cake was also gooey, thick, and heavy (it literally weighed a pound or two!) but it was still very good. One slice is plenty for 2-3 people, even if you get it before you eat your meal. Their peanut butter cookie and pink sugar cookie were also delicious. All in all, it's a fun atmosphere, and unique, out-of-the way place, that has some of the best homemade pita bread I've ever had!

We were so excited to take our daughter here for her birthday since we had recently tried the place & really enjoyed the outdoor atmosphere. We were really annoyed when we discovered that you must be 16 to be allowed out there (she's 14). My husband also wanted a nice steak & was turned off when they were out of mashed potatoes! He hates au gratin potatoes & French fries just don't cut it with a steak. He switched gears & ordered pasta which was disappointing to say the least. We may not be in as big of hurry to go back.

If it weren't for Yelp I wouldn't have known this place existed at all, and I am so glad that I found it. We will be stopping here on our drive home from Utah from now on! You turn a corner expecting to find some hole in the wall and instead there is a gorgeous building set into the mountain side. In the back you will find a little pond full of koi fish and a waterfall, there are also some peacocks roaming around to keep the rattle snakes at bay. I got the grilled cheese which is served on a house-made pita and it was awesome! Yummy! The french fries were crispy in the best way, just perfectly crispy. If you are near here, you should stop in, it's a great little spot.

Well worth the drive and the wait on Friday and Saturday nights. I have never had a bad meal or bad experience. Love the environment and the food. The carrot cake is divine!

We love eating at Taggarts as a family. It's become the to go restaurant for many family gatherings. I don't think we've ever had anything we didn't like and we have tried a lot of the menu items. One of the things I highly recommend is to take one of their desserts home. The German Chocolate cake is to die for!

I drove here to try it out while doing business in Evanston for a week. The locals said it would be well worth the 40 min drive. Since the places IN Evanston are limited, I thought I'd give it a try I had the French dip, flourless choc cake, and took a cookie for the next day. The French dip wasn't amazing. It was completely average. It's not something worth a 40 min drive one way. However, their flourless cake was really, really good. The cookie wasn't quite what it claimed to be from what I'd heard. Overall 3 stars for me. I'd give it another chance if I drove by and it were on the way.

  • Ted D.

Beautiful drive to and from and the food was 6 stars! The garlic blue burger with beer battered fries was juicy and perfectly cooked... even the bun was homemade! Chicken enchiladas and halibut fish and chips were also some of the best we have ever had! Finally... all of their desserts are homemade and the carrot cake was phenomenal! They earned 3 new customers today who will definitely be back again this summer! Top notch service! #TaggartsGrill

Totally worth the drive! Halibut Fish and chips are some of the best I've ever had in Utah. Reasonably pretty priced. The Carrot cake dessert was delicious and highly recommended. We'll be back and don't mind the drive!

Alexa was or server and everything she suggested was spot on. Burgers were excellent. Service was exemplary. Eveb saw two peacocks. Burgers she suggested, great. Dessert, great. If you near here, do yourself a favor and stop. If its a little out of your way, drive here, you won't be sorry.

We have had different experiences here. With absolutely the worst service and 1 with Fantastic. I got the salmon last time and it was so so good. The fries are delicious! the Red Pepper poppers, burgers, and the fish n chips are also great. Do not get the enchiladas. The sauce tastes like flour and milk. It was flavorless and the chicken was over cooked and mushy. The turtle cheesecake was a lot of cake for the topping ratio. Although the desserts look amazing, we haven't found anything great. They all have tasted like glorified grocery store treats.

Had been wanting to try this place out for awhile since the FB posts looked so yummy. Loaded up the family truckster from Salt Lake and hit the road. A little surprised to see the place packed by 520PM on a Friday so business is good. Got seated after a 20 minute wait, not bad. Nice staff but things started to go downhill after ordering... Our table was all delivered salads except for my wife u requested a bowl of soup. 15 minutes later we asked where the soup is, we were told the line at the microwave was long so we had to wait for the soup to be warmed up- Not a good start, depending on a microwave to be able to deliver hot soup ? Food came and wife's pot roast was stone cold ! Guess this place needs more microwaves or to actually cook the food to order instead. Enchiladas came out looking pretty sad as well, had to chase down some salsa to make them palatable. On to my entrée which was the prime rib, it was very tasty but a bit steep @ $25 and for unknown reasons did not come with Au jus, odd. All and all once the microwave line cleared the pot roast was re-delivered and pretty tasty. The final blow was the highly touted Carrot cake both of which my wife and her sister had one bite and left it just sitting on the table, it tasted fine to me but I guess they called out the waitress and said not only was it not cooked enough and somewhat gooey that it did not have cream cheese frosting. I am not an expert on Carrot cake but it appears they gave it two thumbs down. All and all its a cute place but for us it's just a bit sloppy in the food department, noisy and out of the way as well as being pretty expensive for what you get. If you are in the area and nothing else is available by all means try this spot but don't please keep expectations in check. Maybe breakfast is better ?

Seriously impressed by this place. I expected diner food but it's nothing like that. It's more like gourmet, healthy meals. I had the shrimp scampi and it was filled with delicious veggies as well. My husband had the veggie pizza and it was packed with tons of fresh veggies. We also had the moms chocolate cake. Two can definitely split it and be full. It was the best cake I've EVER had. I will definitely be back!!

Somewhere in Morgan County, we stumbled onto this place along I-84, and the place is named the same as this little town east of Morgan. The place was pack even though we came here past lunch hours, and service was definitely impacted given the number of patrons and low number of servers in this place. I tried their Jalapeño Burger with a side of beans. After waiting a somewhat long time, the burger arrived. It definitely has some interesting flavor in it, as the fresh jalapeno tasted on the spicy side, mixing a sweetness flavor in the sauce, throwing in a juicy burger taste, and finally adding the onion and cheese made this a rather delightful burger. The beans were delicious too despite the strangely white red mixing look. Taggart is definitely one of those destination type place, and you might as well plan that into a trip as a rest stop for lunch or dinner. Just make you anticipate extra time as the place can be a drag when its busy. They also have a great selection of pastries if you are a fan of them.

I had never heard of this little gem until a friend wanted to go there for their birthday and I'm so glad I was able to tag along. We started out with the Jalapeño Popper. Not necessarily the traditional poppers, these had a sliver of red pepper inside along with the Jalapeño cream cheese stuffing stuff. Combine it with the Jalapeño jelly that comes along with it, delectable. I have actually never had a popper and for my first one, I'd try a traditional one. I got the bacon burger with onion rings. The bacon was perfectly cooked for me (asked for it to crispy). The flavors of the burger made my mouth very happy! And then adding the onion rings on the order was a perfect meal. And of course you cannot forget the desserts. We got a few to many to try. We got the pink sugar cookie, carrot cake, poppy seed lemon cheese cake, and the Mama (I believe is the name). My favorite of the four was the carrot cake. It was nice a moist and they did great on the spices. Second favorite was the sugar cookie. The staff was great and very friendly. For me, having great friendly staff and costumer servies goes a long way. Can't wait to go back and try their brunch sometime!

Got immediately seated for a great Sunday brunch on a very comfy patio with some awesome acoustic music in the background. We had the huevos rancheros and ham steak and eggs, both of which were very tasty. Split a pitcher of micro brew beer. too (no bloody marys, boo). We'll be back :)

This cute spot seems like a bit of a hole in the wall but they really do an amazing job. The location itself feels rustic and is in the middle of a canyon. There was more than enough parking, even on a Saturday night, although we had to wait about 30 minutes for a table (this is normal I hear). I went with the chicken enchiladas and they were fantastic - incredibly rich and delicious. The selection of beer was fine (I went with the Pale Ale) and the service was adequate. The bakery case had some amazing looking items in it and if we hadn't just had a gigantic meal I would have been tempted to buy something for the road. If I am ever passing through the area I will without a doubt stop in again.

Since my last review, my wife and I have been back several times. I don't know if they put crack in their food, but I'm addicted. The French Dip is my favorite.

I decided to give this place a second chance after a terrible meal. I figured it was because they were so busy when we went. I ordered the burger. It was dry and over cooked with no flavor. The fries were cold and oily. I dont understand the high reviews that this place keeps receiving. I have been here twice and have been disapointed both times. I dont think i will be back or refer it to friends.

Ate here last night. I wanted to go back again today to try the other things on the menu. I'm a big fan. First off, its in a cool little place. I've driven by Taggarts for 20 years and always wanted to stop here just for that fact. I'm a rubbernecker, and my wife watches the road. It's the only reason my family noticed this place and ate here. Taggarts has been a business of some sort or another since the 20's. I can't resist that kind of history. The restaurant didn't disappoint. One thing to know: You may have to wait. We waited an hour to get a table of 8. whatever. It means they're doing something right, and I'm not gonna knock a star off for that. We waited outside on the benches, the conversation and view was good, and we even saw a couple of peacocks mozying around the property. If you're in a hurry, you probably shouldn't bother (granted, we showed up on a Friday night at 6). The other thing is, its wasn't a real quiet place when you're sitting at the table. That didn't factor into my 5 stars. I spoke a little louder, and everyone survived. I was hungry, in carnivore mode and went for the bacon cheeseburger. It was fresh, clearly hand pressed and on a fresh bun. They put a honey mustard glaze on the bun in Lieu of mayo, in which the waitress had me at hello. The fries were hand made and great. It was a great burger, and full of taste. A blu cheese burger was put at the table too, and he said the same thing as me. My health conscious and athlete daughter got the vegetarian pizza. The crust was made in house, the ingredients were fresh and she really enjoyed it. She's usually the toughest critic. The wife got a chicken Enchilada, and it had great flavor and wasn't processed chicken. Even the leftovers this afternoon were good. They get 5 stars from me because of this: This is clearly a business that knows that their "hole in the wall" location won't last a year without word of mouth business. hell, you can't even barely see this place from the freeway other than a pathetic sign on a 65 mph curve. They took that to heart, and you can sink your teeth into what they figured out. I'll go to Taggarts anytime.

Having my brunch with a peacock is definitely a five star experience! Dine on the patio to enjoy live music and amazing scenery. Turkey sandwich and jalapeño burger are yummy, dessert counter to be determined...

Use to be an excellent local secret, now plagued by a cheap menu and a loud environment. I have tried to get the pot roast on quite a few occasions only to be told it's unavailable. It's so loud inside, it is unbearable. The wait times are horrible. Keep driving up the road another 45 minutes, and enjoy one of the breweries in Park City, or head down into Ogden to 25th Street.

Heard about this place from a friend and decided I needed to go try it. Had the Prime Rib special, it's a huge 14 oz chunk of juicy prime rib; best I've had in awhile (still haven't found a prime rib to best the Rosemary Prime Rib at The Bellagio in Vegas). The bread served with the meal was extremely good as was the cheesecake brownie I finished with for dessert. Taggart's Grill is a great place for a good meal when you're wanting to get out of the city for a few and don't mind a little bit of a drive. It's East of Ogden on I-84 at its own exit just East of Morgan.

I had heard about this place several times from several people. My wife's friends had been raving to her about it for some time now; it's their favorite place. I happen to agree with them (her) on a lot of things, so I put it into consideration. This past weekend, we planned a dinner with them and decided to come here. Unfortunately, I was a little let down. Not because the place was 'bad,' but because it wasn't EXCELLENT like I had heard from numerous sources. We walked in to a 30 minute wait, no biggie. With the delicious looking desserts on display in the waiting area, we gawked at them and grew hungrier and hungrier by the minute (indeed, what it was intended for). As we get seated, we come into a quite small and cozy dining area with maybe 10 tables snuggled in closely. I review the menu and announce to my wife and friends that i think I'm getting the French Dip sandwich. Our friend says that is her favorite thing on the menu and she's getting the same thing. Good, I think. A favorite? I'm on the right track! When the waiter comes, I order my Pepsi (thankful for them having Pepsi products) and my French Dip with beer battered fries that I had also previously heard about. When my soda arrives, I don't see any bubbles in it at all. I ask around, "Does this Pepsi look flat to you?" No one else seems to care, so I shrug it off and deal with it. Of course, I was right. It was completely flat. It reminded me of when we used to get 2-liters when I was a kid to share with he family an it had been sitting in the fridge for 3 days. But I didn't complain, this is our friends' favorite place, after all. When my meal comes out, I start by munching on a few 'beer battered fries.' I feel like I have to say that entire phrase every time I talk about them. Not because they were delicious, it's just fun to say. But they weren't all that good though. I'm not sure what I expected out I their beer battered fries, but it was more than what I got. Then I took a sizable bite into French Dip before dipping in the au jús. It wasn't bad. I mean, it wasn't excellent like I had expected, but, it was suitable. The bread was slightly crisp so that it wouldn't fall apart in the au jús. The meat was seasoned well enough to be eaten without the sauce. But with the sauce, it was definitely better. I love au jús. I even dipped my beer battered fries in it. Of course, that helped the taste of them as well. On the way out, my wife ordered a delicious looking raspberry cheesecake for later. I snuck a few bites from it the following afternoon. Though I'm not the biggest fan of raspberries, it was really tasty. I couldn't handle more than a bite or two though, just too rich for me. But, over the course of a day or two, it was a great nibbler when you just want... Something. All in all, Taggart's gets a 3/5 star rating in my book. If it wasn't so far away from where I live, I'd probably go back. But it's not good enough to return without the request of someone else.

My only criticism? What an odd location! Not the easiest to get to, but well worth the effort. Great home-style food, a surprisingly decent wine/beer list for a small, out of the way place, and desserts/sweets to DIE FOR. I had no idea this place existed (location), but am happy as hell to know about it now.

This place is horrible! Has the worst customer service ever! Only one girl greeted my family and I and sat us at our table. She was great. But after being sat down we waited 20 minutes and still no server came to greet us and take our orders. Wow. All these other girls were just standing around in the hostess area not doing anything. We decided to leave after seeing another group get a server as soon as they sat down. I complained to some ugly looking lady and she had no real answer for me as to why we weren't served except that they were "short-handed" which was absurd. They weren't even that busy during the time of our visit. She kept saying "well" over and over again. Piss poor way to handle an upset guest. That's for sure. She told me that the place would have paid for our meal which made no sense because we never had our orders taken in the first place. Oh my Hell. I will never go to Taggart's again. No stars really but it requires I choose at least one. Bullshit.

I love this place. The ham and apple wrap is great and the jalapeno burger is life changing! I eat there all the time, even though it's an 80 mile drive for me.

i decided to make the trip from salt lake city to try this burger. The place is very nice and clean. i ordered 2 burgers, the taggart and the bacon cheese burger. I asked for the taggart well done and the bacon cheeseburger medium. They both came out overcooked and dry. The service was fair to say the least. They had plenty of servers but I had to ask to have my drink refilled twice. Being not very busy I would have expected the burgers to come out rather quickly. after 23 minutes I got my burgers. As i stated above not cooked to order. I will say the bun was great along with the fries. The fry sauce had a hint of horseradish which made the taste so unique. the burger was just another overcooked burger that had flavor based on the sauce that was drizzled on it. Make the drive for the fries and bun, not the burger.

Great food, served quickly by a helpful and friendly waiter. The creamy chicken artichoke soup was very good. I got the pot roast - very flavorful and a huge portion. We also tried the chicken enchilada dish which was excellent.

I'm hesitant to bring more attention to Taggarts, but I think the secret is out on how delicious this place is. Best burgers within a hundred miles, sammiches actually come on a warm pita bread. My fav is the chicken cobb sandwich and it blows my mind how good it is everytime I have one. Personal pizzas are equally tasty. And the cheesecakes....OMG. I have always disliked cheescake, but thier's is the only cheescake I eat and it's devine. You dine inside or outside, but look out for peacocks and supposedly rattlers, lol. Waitresses aren't too shabby either ;)

Innovative comfort food at its finest. I love the fact that this family-owned restaurant is completely out of the way, and yet is always full of people who are willing to make the drive to enjoy what Taggart's has to offer. We went on a Saturday evening, and they were expectedly slammed. Steve (the owner) was busy working the front of the house and greeting and seating guests. Our server seemed a little frazzled, as if she had a few too many tables to handle. When our food arrived, she realized that she forgot to place my meal in the computer. While the kitchen rushed to make me a plate, I looked on as the rest of the party enjoyed their meals. But the wait was well worth it. I had the chicken enchilada, which was seasoned perfectly (albeit the chicken was a bit dry). The white sauce on the enchilada was lovely, and the meal was fantastic. Our server made up for forgetting my meal by comping me a dessert, which was appreciated. Definitely check out their dessert selection (it's hard to miss--they strategically place their display case prominently in the waiting area :) Worth the drive. Check it out.

We went on the Friday before Valentines day and it was busy. I called ahead to put our name on the 30 minute wait list and we still probably waited another 15 to 20 minutes when we arrived. I can see why it seemed busy the restaurant seating area is pretty small. I'd recommend going for lunch or before 6 to avoid a long wait. Pleople showing up without being on the wait list really had to wait a long time. Also the parking area has no lights and it is dark so be careful with kids. Not a busy street but just a pointer because the corner is kind of sharp and if someone is going too fast it could be a problem. The food was OK we thougtht. My wife ordered the Au Gratin Halibut. It was not that great and the cheese over powered the entree. Her veggies were under cooked as well. I ordered the new york steak. The seasoning was on the light side. I liked the potatoes. My veggies were perfect. So overall mine was better but not a long drive-kind-of-good. The kids ordered grilled cheese and mac and cheese. Those are hard to screw up and were good. The fries are awesome though. We loved them and the kids did too. The desserts were good as well. Also the bread is Awesome! That is definitly the best thing. They will keep it coming if you want it which was nice. We'll probably give it another shot if we are headed to wyoming but to make a special trip up is not worth it. PROS: Dessert, Service, Bread CONS: certain foods (it seems), long waits

Taggarts, ohh how I love they. I live in the South end of the valley but I find myself driving to Taggarts on the weekend to enjoy some good food with my friends. It is a great place to hop in a nice car and cruise up. My car club/friends love making this a location to goto for a good lunch. They are always friendly and handle large groups well. Good fresh food. I've never had anything bad. The homemade breads are great and the pastries look amazing but I've never had one. Trying to stay sexy so I avoid the sweets but it is hard not to grab a few. If your up in the area, swing by and enjoy some. During the warmer months they have peacocks roaming around which is a nice addition.

The drive is far, the wait is long, the food is worth it. What a wonderfully odd place for a restaurant. Fantastic comfort food in a beautiful setting - what more can you ask for? Yes, the crowd makes for a painful wait and prices can be a bit excessive, but those are minor quibbles negated by the quality of the food. Take a stroll down the road to see the river to ease the wait. Nestled all by itself up the canyon from Morgan, Taggarts is a destination and not a "drop by for dinner" place - unless you're trekking from Ogden to Park City or back. Try the halibut au gratin - oh my! And while I'm not typically a carrot cake guy, theirs has made me a true believer. Wonderfully moist and heavy (seriously, a serving must weigh a good pound!) with a nutty texture and cream cheese frosting that comes dangerously close to compulsive. The best carrot cake I've ever had by a mile. Put Taggarts on your "Must Try" list.

We had their carrot cake at a friends wedding and it was to die for so we thought we would try the restaurant. We should have called ahead to get on the list cuz the wait was an hr in a cramped lobby. When we sat, it was very noisy but the server was attentive. First pet peeve ... at a place that sells alcohol the servers should all be able to take your order and serve it!!! Major drama getting a drink that is on the menu? Shouldnt happen. We got the jalapeno poppers for an appetizer. Meh. They served some fluffy bread pre-meal that as meh. I ordered the chicken enchiladas and they were cold. My husband ordered the pot roast and loved that. We both got carrot cake to go. Honestly, if you like comfort food and super rich desserts this might be the place for you. If you like a higher quality healthy food, skip it.

Let me get the criticisms out first. Taggart's is small. On a weekday for a late lunch (like today) it is not a problem. In the evenings and weekends be prepared to wait. Taggarts is the only restaurant I've ever eaten at that has a sign up alerting diners to the danger of rattlesnakes. I've heard that peacocks eat baby cobras. Maybe the Taggart's peacock should make himself useful! I have eaten at Taggarts four or five times now. There have been occasional hiccups with the food (overdone steak once, undercooked veggies another time). Typically things are done right though. The prices are quite reasonable, especially given the sheer volume of food. The baked goods are the thing to look for here. The desserts are uniformly delicious. I have never actually eaten one in the restaurant since I am always stuffed to the gills when I leave. I've eaten several at home. The pita bread is the biggest surprise. It's a roadhouse in rural Utah! They're not supposed to make good pita. Somehow they manage. They have Sunday Brunch, but that will forever remain a wild card for me since I don't eat out Sunday mornings.

we were driving, we were hungry, we stopped in morgan to refuel, hoping that there would be something to refuel ourselves on, too, but the "café" attached to the gas station wasn't really doing it for us (and not just because it appeared to be un-staffed) so i did the unthinkable and asked the girl cleaning the slurpy station for dining recommendations. and she told me about taggart's. she said people came from "all around" to eat there. she said the owner studied pastry arts in france. she said they served "fancy stuff" like steaks and fish and sandwiches on pita bread and weekend brunch. so we tried it out. we didn't have dessert, so i can't speak to that at all, but the food was good and the service was competent and the price was fair. and even though we didn't get a fancy sandwich, we got some real good fresh-baked bread and pita as well. so maybe there was some truth to that pastry arts rumor.

The first thing you need to know is that Taggarts really isn't in Morgan, but is in a town called... Taggart. You will drive past Morgan, heading north on I-84 until you see the Taggart exit. There you will see a homey restaurant at the base of a large mountain with a Peacock (if the weather is pleasant) roaming around the entrance. If it is summer, there will be even more in the back yard which has a beautiful pathway and a pond filled with colorful fish. While the decor is pleasant the food is better. Order anything on the menu, you can't go wrong! I do have a few favorites: For a lighter fare I will order a bowl of soup with a hot, freshly cooked roll (try their signature artichoke soup, or clam chowder or tomato bisque if available). If I am really hungry, I will order a meal which comes with the soup, salad and roll. But fact is, EVERYTHING is delicious. You simply can't go wrong. Enjoy one of Utah's secret best places to eat.

This place is in the middle of nowhere and yet it is usually busy, I really like eating here. Don't forget to get a dessert to take home with you, especially the turtle cheesecake!!

This place has it all. A varied menu that never fails to please ranging from sophisticated salads to solid down home cooking. Fast attentive staff with a great knowledge of what is going on in the kitchen. Both indoor/outdoor seating in a rustic environment that feels comfortable to all. Last but not least is a great dessert menu of cheesecakes and baked goods that top off any meal you choose.
