Everyone was friendly immediately when I walked in. The view is amazing and peaceful. The food was so good that I didn't need any sauce. The waiter was attentive throughout my dinner. Very happy I stumbled upon this restaurant while driving through Moab.

So, I feel like you can't really see the sunset.. but the view is pretty great. The service was very good, my waiter was kind and attentive. For drinks, I ordered a Manhattan. When it was first brought to me it clearly was very watered down so I asked it they could make another. It was still pretty watered down and didn't taste very good.. i just drank it and then ordered a glass of wine. I was very impressed with the local Moab red blend wine, very good! I ordered the escargot, which was ok, there was a lot of sauce so it seemed a bit drowned in it. The chicken caesar salad was good.

The bottom line is that this place is a must, if visiting Moab. The view is killer. The history of this house is mind blowing...actually, what you will learn here will teach you the history of the town. Uranium Baby! The family that runs this restaurant is your All American, hard-working, do what it takes to succeed type family. Any entrepreneur reading this knows what I'm talking about. Big shout out to the daughter that picked me and my 10 friends up in the van and drove us to and from the restaurant. And a shot out to her hard working and creative father that had a vision beyond the food. He gave us a history lesson that was inspiring and interesting. I was there in April 2015, and this review has been on my to-do list for 6 months. I don't write many, so you know this place is legit! The food, you ask? 5 star, just like the people.

Met John when we drove up to see about the possibility of dinner for later that night. Even though they were closed he took the time to give us a tour and a little history of the place. When we came back for dinner he not only remembered us but set us up with Krista for our server. She could not have been more perfect for our group! The food, service, and the view was amazing! Definitely a place to visit!

If you visit Moab, don't miss this place! Our food and very friendly service was great but the view and peaceful setting at sunset was astounding! The story of the Uranium King was interesting and inside we got to see some of the uranium and some amazing dinosaur bones! Good wine list also. Highly recommend this place!!

Sit outside on the deck, at sunset. Amazing. Food was on par with the the view and service.

This place has an amazing view and superb customer service! Prime rib was flavorful, nice and tender for a great price, Moscow Mule was done right in a cold copper mug, I'm especially picky about French onion soup and theirs was amazing! The wait staffs were all very knowledgeable about their history so make sure to ask them about all the decors around the restaurant. Great location for both small and big events. Definitely coming back here next time I'm in Moab! Thanks for the great service Olivia! Tell your Dad to keep up the great work!

Come here for the view... maybe not the food. I must say, the view and setting of this place is worth the stop in. You feel as if you are going into someone's living room while enjoying one of the best views of Moab valley. The waitstaff was incredibly friendly and nice. I was rather excited for their special version of prime rib with garlic blue cheese. Unfortunately it was only "ok". I asked around the table and the consensus was the same on the filet and the salmon. Check back on reviews, if the food pickups slightly this place would by far pair the best view with a good meal.

Arrived in Moab early Friday evening after some hiking, but didn't get around to looking for a dinner place til 8 or close to 9pm. We called Sunset Grill to make sure they would still be open and they said to come on by! We arrived about 30 mins before closing and were seated in the upper level of the restaurant/house(?). There was a party of 4 there, drinking, and still enjoying their meal, but obviously the night was winding down. Our hostess was this sweet girl, very helpful with the menu, very polite and attentive. Seriously, such great customer service, and not shooting daggers at us for arriving so close to closing. I ordered a breaded chicken dish with rice and my companion ordered a steak dish. Both dishes were tasty and just the right serving to fill us without leaving us stuffed. Since the restaurant is on a hill, there is a nice view of the city. The only con about this place is getting there. There's a narrow roadway that takes you up to the restaurant, with space for 1 car, sometimes 2, to share the road. I imagine this could be incredibly annoying during peak times because you have to pull to the side to let a car pass or vice versa. I recommend for a nice dining experience: Alright food. Excellent customer service. Nice view. Decent prices.

Incredible view, our server Caleb was great, food was horrible.... We both had prime rib and sent it back twice.... I order medium rare, my hubby ordered rare, both came out well done. Twice... The baked potato was under cooked as were the veggies. Not a dining experience I'd like to repeat.

Pleasantly surprised. My family was set on checking this place out, but after reading the reviews on Yelp, I prepped them for poor service. Thankfully, the staff must have stepped it up since the last several reviews were posted. We went up on a weekend evening in the middle of the summer tourist season and were seated and served quickly. The meal was decent, and although the atmosphere was notably informal for the pricing, it was a very enjoyable experience.

As soon as my boyfriend and I were driving into Moab we noticed the Sunset Grill high atop a beautiful mountain and knew the views would be amazing. I wished we would have read the reviews prior to going. The views were amazing however the only food item that tasted good was our appetizer, which was the artichoke baguettes. My boyfriend ordered the pepper corn NY strip medium rare - it arrived at our table well done. He sent it back and the waiter rather than take it back immediately asked if it would be okay if he just comped up a dessert. It was sent back and arrived this time extremely rare - when my boyfriend was asked how the second was prepared he informed the waiter it was a tough cut of meat and was cooked rare. We were then told by our server...."well, you know some steaks are cut that way." Extremely disappointing experience.

Moab is not known for it's cuisine. Or service. No one moves to Moab to work. Consequently, those restaurants that do exist here do so due to overwhelming awareness (Eddie McStiffs) or tourist cluelessness (Pasta Jay's). Buck's recently closed, leaving a big vacuum in the higher end of the food chain (no pun intended). Sunset Grill is the best of locations and the worst of locations. It sits WAY up on the rim's edge, and I bet 90% of the people driving past it don't see it. I didn't know it existed until I walked past the driveway. Most people won't travel that far. If you do, though, you'll find it worthwhile. It's location also provides an incredible view of the valley. Our waiter had been in the business in Moab for years, and he regaled us with stories of good and bad restaurants in Moab. He also helped us select meals that were very well prepared. In my experience; this may be the best dinner in Moab. It's not cheap, and not easy to find. It IS worth it.

View was great! Food not so much! Service left a lot to be desired. Hostess staff set them up for success but it went down hill quickly from there.

Came here for my birthday and had a great time. Our server, Crazy D, gave us a lot of personal attention. Great service! I had the crab stuffed salmon and Hubs had the buffalo ribeye. Meat was cooked to perfection! I knocked a star off for two reasons - the sides were a little plain, and the ambiance and menu do not match. Other wise, great views and good times!

This restaurant has excellent food, an amazing view, loads of history, and outstanding service. The honey pecan chicken was unique and delicious. Save room for dessert too because it's awesome as well. Our server (Donetta I think) was helpful and incredibly friendly. We were seated in the main room in the corner window table and the view was panoramic over Moab. This is an excellent choice for a romantic date night!

I'm not sure why we ended up here, but we did. I'm sure it was the view that ended up selling me on the place and everyone was right - its a very nice view. We didn't have a reservation (I would recommend one highly) and waited about 20 minutes for a table. We were there pretty early, so I'm not even sure we could have been seated during prime time without a reservation. So upon sitting down you realize its a very old school restaurant. I'm not saying there's anything wrong with that, just letting you know as some people prefer a more modern experience. This is the kind of place I would take my parents or that I know they would take me when I'm visiting. Fresh bread on the table once ordering, all entrees come with salad and baked potato and I'll be if they didn't put a flower on for garnish! All in all the prime rib was very tasty and massive and my wife's honey pecan chicken was very good as well. The decor, the menu & food are just dated, but its still tasty. And you can't really beat the view or the photos of sunset from the patio.

Sunset Grill was chatted up at our hotel, but I found it mediocre, at least for the price. What you are paying for here is the view, which was really nice. I had the Idaho trout and a side Caesar. It didn't blow me away like I was hoping Took a while to get seated because the hostess was talking to another customer while we stood waiting. Once we got our server, she was nice and attentive.

  • Mark S.

This was my first time to Moab and I've heard nothing but good things about this place. Maybe they treat visitors differently than the locals but who knows. The wait time to get seated was accurate which was totally fine with me. After we got seated is when things started to go downhill; a server did not show up to our table till 20 minutes later and things just dragged out. Now when the food showed up, you could see and taste that it wasn't the worth the price of admission. One of us ordered a filet mignon medium and it came out rare with some fat on it; the prime rib was not impressive at all; and the chicken Alfredo could've came from a Chili's restaurant. People, you're paying more for the view and than for the "quality" of the food. One n done with that place...

Great steaks, great view on the canyon overlooking Moab, and very good service. Highly recommended.

Come here for the fantastic view and boy is it gorgeous! I'm not sure if the view overwhelmed my senses as I don't remember the food much. The bread is mediocre and I wouldn't waste your appetite on it. Service is slow but the point of coming here should really be about the view. I did enjoy the strawberry/orange infused water at the front door though. I guess that doesn't say much about the food itself but I would come back just for the view!

This was my 4th trip to Moab area and have eaten at the Sunset Grill every time. The view and location are great and gets you away from the busy town. I appreciate the history of the home that the Uranium King built. We were seated at the table in front of the fireplace in what was probably the original living room. The food has always been good, and I'm a fan of the basmati rice served with their entrees. We had cocktails, appetizers, salads, main courses. All was served in an appropriate time period for a nice restaurant. However, I am writing primarily to compliment our server named Krista. She made us feel like we were guests in her home for dinner. There were 5 of us (my husband, myself, daughter, son-in-law and granddaughter, age 8). My son-in-law mentioned that he was starving because they had just gotten back from the Firery Furnace hike in Arches Nat'l Park. Krista brought him an extra hot bread and butter immediately and said that she knew he needed something to eat right away! She continued to be probably the best server we have had in a long time.

Lot of work to do and a cook that would not cook a steak well done.... They had the best escargot that was a plus... the view was worth everything.... a little work and 5.0 star is not far off....

The view is killer! I expected mediocre food, but was surprised by EXCELLENT food also. Prime rib was great, linguini olivia same and the blue chese side salad was outstanding. Definitely a must visit if you love good food!

Boyfriend and I both had prime rib, two different types. We were very happy with our meals, which were tender and delicious. We asked to be seated outside even though clouds were rolling in, and the host opened up an area just for us! Our server seemed young enough for this to be his first job, but he was still very good. The service was excellent, especially considering we looked like we hadn't showered in days and showed up covered in mud, which I thought would rank us as second-class customers at this joint. And though I left my credit card behind and showed up to retrieve it while they were closed, the staff was really nice and helpful. They called the host and texted the server, and in the meantime showed us some of the artifacts and rocks they have in the cases, and we got a little history and (of all things) radiology lesson. The view IS amazing. I will be coming back any time I'm in Moab!

This place is great. I felt very relaxed in what used to be someone's house. My husband loved the prime rib dinner. I had the fettucine Alfredo. We both received huge portions. Our server was very pleasant and competent.

Heading into Moab, we checked out Yelp & TripAdvisor for local eateries. Based on the # of stars, we made a choice, which we shared with Mitchell at the La Quinta. He very diplomatically told us it was a dump...lol and suggested the Sunset Grill. I called and was greeted by Jennifer who gave us a reservation on the deck and assured me that shorts were fine! As we walked in, Jennifer and her young assistant (who was incredibly professional and attentive despite her young age) greeted us warmly and showed us to the table. We enjoyed a glass of local Merlot from Castle Creek Wine (Moab, UT) and escargot served over puff pastry with a sauce of mushrooms, white wine, capers and sin (they were that rich and wonderful). Sidebar...I love escargot...love... and these were some of the most yummy and original I've seen! For our main, we had the Prime Rib (which they're famous for). It was cooked perfectly and served with baked potato and steamed vegetables. Dessert was homemade "razzleberry pie" and as you might expect by the point...yeah...it was delish!!! The whole time, we were well cared for by our server Lisa. Did I mention we were overlooking the city of Moab and had a stunning view of sunset? It was the icing on the cake...or "razzleberry pie" if you will. A great way to introduce us to Moab and a wonderful evening.

5 Stars for our waiter "Crazy D"! While the food didn't change my life for 5 stars, the service was fantastic. That view? Best in Moab.

  • Steve G.

Had drinks on wonderful patio overlooking Moab Valley is a long steep drive up but its worth it best view of Moab Town The restaurant is in the former home of Charlie Steen who found uranium in area in 50s with a 60s decor its like going back in time with displays and pictures chronicling his discovery. Fantastic service and view food was good at reasonable price.

  • Mike H.

Fantastic combination of service, food and view. The entire staff is incredibly nice and accommodating but we ask for Lexy- thanks for the great service. The food is exquisite and prepared by the owner. Wait for a table around sunset and be amazed by the incredible views. My favorite place in Moab.

on this street, there are about ten steakhouses in a row. we chose this one randomly and were pleasantly surprised to see that it was up on the top of the hill so there was a great view. we were seated almost immediately and got a seat right by the window overlooking the scenery. our server was very pleasant and the meal was good, but it certainly wasn't the best steak i ever had, which is why i only give it 4 stars. i'd go back though if i were in the area.

    (4)
  • Lou A.

Great staff and very good food. But you can't beat the view!!! Don't forget to read the story of the place on the menu. I'd give it 5 stars but my steak that was supposed to be medium rare was well done. It was still very good but not worth a 5th star. Oh and bring your Geiger Counter.

There was no one in the dinning hall. But was requested to wait 45 minutes because people "might" be coming... We waited 30. No one came.. Dinning hall still empty.. We left.. Would have loved to try the food. But couldn't be seated.

I didn't realize that I had not reviewed this before. I have been to Moab for the night three times. Three times I ate here. There may be other good restaurants in Moab. I will never get to find out. I love this place. I could say great things about the meat and salads, but I want to focus on their escargot, which is served in puff pastry cups that you can sop up the butter with. In more than sixty years of eating escargot, the three best servings of it I have ever had were in this restaurant.

  • Svelte S.

The food was mediocre, you definitely pay for the view. Our waiter was very accommodating and we really enjoyed chatting with him! But there really was nothing special about the food, which is such a shame given the price. Oh well.

  • Jull Y.

Great service, food is very palatable, great view, decent price. Only thing lacking is the presentation of food... Could be better.... But honestly, everything tasted great... Best tasting American dining in Moab so far.

This was a really great restaurant. My husband had the Rustler Prime Rib which he said was amazing! It's cooked like a normal prime rib and then thrown on the grill at the end. I had the steak and it was excellent. The kids menu is really awesome and amazing for the value. They each got the prime rib and it came with a bake potato and steamed veggies. Very worth the money and large portions all around. We had the chocolate mousse and creme brulee for dessert. Both delicious! Our waitress, Lisa, was fantastic and incredibly knowledgeable of the surrounding area. The view is superb of moab from the restaurant. We waited for 15 minutes for a table on the patio, but it was no problem because we just enjoyed the view from outside while we waited. Really great restaurant with a cool history. We will try to eat here every time we come to Moab.

  • Alan G.

Don't come here for the service - it's slow and a little bizarre. The food, at best, is banquet food. My companion sent back the bruschetta and my duck was dry. The rice was flavorless. The view was nice but after a day at Arches National Park, it was not worth having to choke down the food.

    (1)
  • Amie R.

The view is amazing and the service great. But the food was terrible. My ranch salad was incredibly salty, my husbands prime rib cold, and my fettuccine Alfredo greasy with onions. We liked our waiter too much to complain but I would not go back.

Visiting Moab, so wanted to go somewhere special for our anniversary. We decided to go to Sunset grill. We were pleasantly surprised. What a beautiful location!!! I ordered the prime rib. It was awesome! My husband ordered the Cajun shrimp fettuccine. Again, Awesome!! No complaints! Our waiter Mike, went above and beyond to make our dinner special. Would definitely recommend the Sunset Grill to anyone looking for a "special place" to go while in Moab.

  • Bobbie M.

I'm going to give this restaurant 5 stars for location, view, attitude of staff and a very fair tasting meal. The blue cheese dressing was wonderful and homemade. All four of us had prime rib and while tasty and plenty to eat, was a little well done for my liking. All in all, remember you are in a historical home turned restaurant in Moab, Utah. $28.00 prime rib. Was worth the visit and will be a find memory of our time in Moab.

  • Erin E.

Best prime rib is some of the best I've ever had. Fresh horseradish. Great views on the deck and, as the name suggests, excellent place to watch the sunset. Glad we sat outside- the inside looked a little drab and outdated. Small parking lot, so you might have to park on the edge of the cliff-driveway. Service was polite and friendly. A little pricey, but the views are spectacular. Would definitely come here for another romantic or anniversary meal. I left with warm fuzzies. Partially from the wine, but mostly from the breathtaking view.

  • Anita T.

Wonderful place, great view, friendly staff! Food was expertly prepared. We had steaks and they were wonderful, tender, and cooked to the perfect medium rare. Wine was great as well. Definite recommend!

  • Terry N.

Spendy for the low level of service. Table never was bussed properly. Salads sat on a serving tray for 20 minutes next to the table before the waitress re-appeared to serve. Views are great. Downside is getting blinded and cooked in one of the rooms with poor air conditioning and blinds. Save yourself the aggravation and money and look elsewhere for a quality dinner and service.

  • Shira B.

The view is great obviously, but the service is totally atrocious and the food is cafeteria quality. When we got there we checked in with the hostess who said it would be about 15 minutes. After 30 minutes, she sent someone over to ask if we had been helped yet. Hello?? Got seated and ordered fairly quickly. Our salads came before the appetizer, then they brought out the appetizer- the same hostess delivered this to our table and proceeded to spill this dish on the table as she put it down. Way to go. Then the waitress comes out and tells us that appetizer wasn't meant for us! We didn't need to know this. Our main dishes arrived some time later without her clearing the appetizer plate. My chicken was microwave quality, and my husband ordered a rare steak which came well done. Overall I wouldn't go back but it wasn't the worst restaurant experience- not as expensive as you might think. But not the best.

  • Judy S.

We went without reservations, but they managed to get us in. We talked with the owner, who gave us some history on the place, very interesting. Everyone was very nice and the food was excellent, differently would eat here again. The place is very unique, small curvy road going up to a beautiful view overlooking the town of Moab.

    (4)
  • Mark H.

Dont come here for the food, you come here for the view. The drive up the side of the canyon to get here. The view is amazing especially at sunset. The food tastes good but its a bit pricey. The staff is also nice enough. I would recommend this if you are in Moab for a few days.

  • Lou P.

Make sure you call first to see if they have a full staff and the suspension on your car can handle an extremely narrow winding road that leads up to the eatery. We arrived at about 7:30 p.m. after negotiating the private road leading up to the restaurant. I'm sure the crumbling road was built sometime in the early 20th Century and has not been maintained since. The young hostess told us it would be about a half-hour wait for the table and suggested if we were staying in the area overnight that well call and make a reservation for the following day. We opted to wait and asked if there was a bar. We told there was not a bar but we could wait in the patio area, which has a spectacular view of the Moab area. Walking through the large restaurant I could not help but notice at least 75 percent of the tables were empty; strange, but I let it go. At the half-hour mark I walked in to ask the hostess (who was hard to find) why we had to wait when there were plenty of open tables. She said they were short of servers, but we would be seated very soon. At the 45-minute mark, we asked another couple that came in before us, how long they had been waiting; an hour they told us. It was at that point I decided to warn all the other people who were waiting on the patio, of the true waiting time, and left. The hostess, once again, was not to be found. I can't speak to the food, but highly suggest calling ahead and ask about staffing and see if you can get an all-terrain-vehicle to take you up the road.

I have been going to the sunset grill for years and this past weekend was the last time I will ever waste my money there. The service was horrible. Our waitress was rude, loud and ignored us. We had to flag her down just to get water. Then she complained about how busy she was. The lemon chicken (which I always order) was dry. Not the delicious dish I have enjoyed in the past. Too bad this place has gone downhill. Used to be a great treat to have dinner there. Not anymore.

The view is great, service was fantastic. Ask for Lindsay. She was prompt and friendly. I had ahi and hubbub had prime rib, both were delicious. A must do in Moab.

  • Josh D.

Great restaurant, our filets were amazing and the chocolate mousse cake was excellent. While they had a kids menu, they are not really toddler-friendly (no changing station, no cups with lids). Service was ok, nothing to write home about. They were out of creme brulee, which was very disappointing. The food made up for it all, but wouldn't recommend this place if you have little kids.

  • Garen M.

This is a unique restaurant on top of the town of Moab, UT. It is in the former home of the founder of uranium in Utah. Good food, excellent service. I had prime rib and Mrs. Eva had the Filet. Very nice dinner.

    (4)
  • Lisa S.

Excellent food, service, and the view was awesome. I got a cut of beef that was described as a blend of prime rib and rib eye, and it was superb. A few other people mentioned the interior as rather drab, but my boyfriend and I appreciated that most of the original decor of the 50's home (that it was converted from) was preserved. Also, the road leading up the hill to the restaurant looks like it was recently paved and well lit, so another reviewer's comment about the road being in poor condition is no longer valid.

  • Carl P.

The 20 or so minute wait (despite the reservation) was well worth it - seeing Moab from a different perspective as the sun set on the town was refreshing. The dinner options are all tempting and our waiter was phenomenal. I recommend Sunset Grill as a place to go to enjoy a nice dinner and read up a little on Moab's history (news articles in the entry way tell it all). This does not affect my review of this restaurant, but again we were subjected to some idiot on his cell phone talking at full volume. when will people learn to go outside to yack? lazy, rude people who blab on their cell phones in nice restaurants look like morons - there's nothing impressive about this behavior...

  • A K.

We ate at the Sunset Grill while in Moab and the shrimp scampi was excellent. The waitress was super friendly and patiently accommodated my food allergies (I'm allergic to wheat and eat gluten free) with no problem. The decor is outdated and the menu a bit limited, but the view is wonderful. We liked it so much that we thought it would be the perfect place for our wedding reception. That's why I subtracted two stars - Lori, the owner, never returned one phone call. And I've left multiple messages, in addition to calling the restaurant and inquiring who else to contact as well as sending a couple of emails. I'm disappointed, but I'd rather find out now that they don't have the capacity to handle a wedding than on the actual day. I'd recommend The Sunset Grill for a dinner out any day of the week, but as for special events, well.... let's just say we'll be taking our business elsewhere.

After a day of two-person kayaking on the Colorado river, we really looked forward to savoring a nice meal overlooking Moab. BF had the steak, I had brie-stuffed salmon, pretty good stuff overall. They also brought out fresh salads and fresh baked bread which was a hit. They had a modest wine list, but decent enough to not drink swill with dinner. All in all, great, scenic view in an old building. I believe it was an old uranium office or something having to do with the uranium trade in Moab. Just watch the beat up road on the way up and down--don't toss too many back as the road is narrow and in poor condition leading to and from the restaurant.

server was pleasant and attentive, decor a little outdated, and the food was so-so... we had the prime rib, and it was a little chewy, even though medium rare. Had better prime rib the week prior going to Outback...

  • M W.

My prime rib was perfectly done. My wife proclaimed her filet mignon as the best meal of the trip. Our friends also loved their meals. Service was polite, appropriately attentive and informed. The view out the window after sunset - we ate late - was stunning. The 70's, outdated decor and dining style is why I'm going with 4 stars.

When I first rolled into town I noticed the cool mid-century modern house on the hill. I found out later it was the Sunset Grill. The house was cool but kind of faded. As it turns out so was the restaurant. I enjoyed my meal. It's the kind of place your parents (or grandparents) would go for a birthday dinner or special occasion. Great view, smooth jazz, and prime rib. Nice fresh bread served on a board with a big knife and lots o butter. Steamed vegetables may have been frozen. Soggy. Overall I enjoyed it in that kitchy old school way that would have made Nana proud. And the price was right for what you get. Not cheap but not taking advantage either.

  • Kay B.

Great view! That's where it stops. The waiter was super pleasant. But the food below standard. The place is a bit rundown - mostly elderly customers - which is OK but maybe why they haven't upgraded the food - figure old people don't care? But they do. I suggest a drink for the view and then eat dinner somewhere else.

Melissa was an excellent waitress, informative and friendly. We both had the prime rib which was tender and flavorful. Incredible view. We would definitely go back.

Scenario: Roadtrip in June '05 moving from California to Kansas City. Product: I went here about 3 years ago and distinctly remember the scallops. Of all places to have the most delicious, tender scallops I never would have guessed it would be on a hill in Moab, UT. I don't exactly remember the prices but I'm thinking around mid-20s to low-30s per person. Service: I think the service was just normal. Nothing spectacular but not like they forget about you. It was a weeknight, so business was a little slow and they were able to get the food out in a timely fashion. Atmosphere: The view is AMAZING! At night, you can see the street lights and city down below with an expansive view off in the distance. If the weather is nice, then I mos def recommend the outdoor seating. Inside, lighting is low, comfortable and romantic. When you first drive up the hill to the gravel parking lot it seems a bit ghetto. But once you get inside you realize it's a comfortable, classy place without requiring you to dress to the nines. Uniquity: The good food, comfortable and relaxed atmosphere, and awe-inspiring view make this a must-eat resteraunt.

Pretty solid meal, the bread was outstanding and obviously house made. Everything seems a little old school there, from the menu to the decor, but history seems to be part of their selling point (the former home of uranium king Charlie Steen). The place is advertised as having 'million dollar views' and the sunset was pretty spectacular through the windows. I ordered the shrimp and scallops with a side of rice and vegetables which ended up being pretty good. It would be nice though if they mixed up their offerings (almost everything is served with a side of rice and vegetables)

Decent enough food. Food was okay nothing spectacular. the filet was slightly overpriced for portion served. Service was stupendous.

Came here for a celebratory family dinner, since we heard it's a nice French restaurant. Don't know about the French part, but it was nice... They just opened when we came in, so they sat us down immediately. The server was nice, food was delicious and for an upscale restaurant (feel & service-wise) very reasonable, too. If you're in Moab, definitely check this out!

Tara the waitress was awesome! The prime rib was one of the best we have had, the sunset view can only be beaten looking out over the ocean.

Place is terribly slow. Waiters tend to forget your orders too!

Good food and service, with a view that is truly unbeatable in Moab. But no where near five star quality (whether it be big city or small town), and pricey for local standards. The food is pretty straight forward, solid, nothing particularly interesting. For a special occassion or if you want a romantic evening in Moab, Sunset is probably your only bet in town. However, if you want food that's truly innovative, unpretentous and downright good, try Buck's Grill House (see previous review). I was in Moab for 4 days, and ate at Buck's 3 times.

We were visiting the Arches National Park and drove by this restaurant. The location was enticing. It was perched on top of a hill and had amazing views from the outside and inside. They asked if we had a reservation, which we did not. They said it would be a 15 minute wait. We enjoyed the patio and sunset while we waited and the time flew by. My husband ordered the lemon chicken and they accommodated my vegetarian diet with grilled veggies and mushrooms. My husband said it was one of the best chicken dishes he has ever had! The sauce on my veggies was tasty! The waitress was friendly and anxious to please. As we were walking out the door we asked the host if he could recommend a hotel. Instead of saying "I don't have a clue" ( which is a pet peeve of mine), he said let me get John. John stopped what he was doing and took us up to his office and began calling around for us!!!!! This went above and beyond what anyone would expect! He kept calling till he found us a reasonably priced room. It was very kind of him.

Oh man, I had a grilled prime rib! So so good. Service is pretty good. They bring out this cute little loaf of bread complete with a little bread knife and board. Amazing view!

It's not fancy; it's not hip; it's a steakhouse with dated and somewhat fading decor; it's big selling point is it's magnificent view over Moab. But you know what? It hit the spot. The prime rib was tasty and cooked to order. The portions were huge for a decent price. The sides were traditional steakhouse sides (baked potato, salad, steamed vegetables, bread), but they were certainly good enough. The service was down home and magnificently courteous. If I were craving steak and a view, I'd put away my usual hipster pretenses and happily return.

Was treated really poorly by door staff, who wouldn't seat us because they had a large table coming in an hour. I had called in to see if I could make a reservation, and they wouldn't give me one because "i didn't need one"... needless to say our party of 8 left, and they lost business.

The drive up and the view were the best part. The New York was tough and fatty and the filet was boring at best. Slow service. Not worth the money or time.

Beautiful view worth the time and money. Enjoyable. Relaxing. VG service. Filet mignon just ok. Salmon tender and flavorable. Pecan chicken VG. VG veggies. Excellent chocolate mousse cake. Should be 3 & 1/2 stars overall. The private road is in much need of repair and the overall house is getting a bit run-down.

Damn, I almost expected this place to be a fancy, overpriced, chintzy restaurant on a hill that only dumb tourists go to... So far from the truth, we had a great evening up on the hill, excellent menu- one of those where you get really traumatized because you can't choose because EVERYTHING looks so good, seriously, I'm moderately easy to please but to like every item on a good sized menu is heaven and hell in one. One of those rare places that my baby's suggestion to split/share is cool, none of this you get a steak and i'll split my salad with you action! Sweet. We had the grilled prime rib (awesome blue cheese sauce), trout (super tasty), seafood pasta with a white wine cream sauce and some other chicken dish, just about perfect all round. Desert was pretty damn good even though it was almost impossible to fit anything else- good quality and great servings! Wine list was reasonable and had good options on the bottom and top end. Our waiter was great, incredibly helpful, really pleasant and set the night off just right. Thanks for a great night out!

The service here is great. Yes, the restaurant has fantastic view--our night we got lightning instead of a sunset, way cool. Yes, the house is a 1960s or so house with paneling and such, but it's not like they try to hide that. They know the history of it and clue you in on it. The prices were reasonable, I thought. Not too high but in the "special" range. The food was good. I love places with a kids' menu that offers more than chicken fingers, and this one delivered. My son ate an 8oz. prime rib for $9.95. Do not have that extra glass of wine if you're the one charged with driving down the mountain late at night.

Possibly the best meal my husband and I ate on our vacation... and we went to Vegas after camping in Arches. The salads were fabulous, the fresh bread was delicious and hit the spot, the low end riesling was delicious and at $6/glass, reasonably priced. My husband's "12 ounce" cut of prime rib was easily 18 ounces of the best prime rib he's ever had. My seafood pasta was full of huge shrimp in a super tasty and delicate cream sauce. The view is excellent, but the road to get up there kind of sucks (and this is from an avid off-roader...) and could use re-paving. The service was very friendly and attentive. I'm serious. This meal beat out the "high end" meals we had in Vegas.

Appetizer, salad, bread and music all good. Waitress was great! Filet special was nothing special! Big $$, big disappointment. Mixed grilled vegetables with lots of zucchini. Save your money.

The view is amazing. We ordered the artichoke and snail appetizers. The latter is excellent. The prime rib was a disappointment. The taste was just OK. The meat seemed hard to chew. However, the Idaho trout was good.

Excellent food and wonderful service. I had the prime rib and my wife had the trout. Both couldn't have been better. The road up to the restaurant was very "interesting". Looks like it hasn't been paved since Charlie Steen lived there, but was still a fun experience driving it.

I had the NY strip steak. Was quite good and flavorful. I bit pricier than I wanted ($23). Wine by the glass is not a good buy. Tiny wine portions at $7 a glass. Better to buy a bottle. Service was ok. View was gorgeous. Dirt, steep road getting to restaurant was potholed and a bit taxing.

Really Great services. The pasta was amazing. It is called Linguine Olivia. Once of the best pasta I ever had at a restaurant that was not Italian. Also the services was great. The Chocolate Mousse Pie is really rich and yummy. The view from looking down from Moab is the best view you will get.

We decided to splurge in order to dine on the mountain top with a view. What a disappointment. This place offered food you could find in any diner, but with sky high prices. I ordered fresh trout expecting to get a whole fish "smothered in herbs" but instead I got a fried fillet with tasteless rice and steamed veggies. Totally mediocre meal. How disappointing. We left feeling like we'd been had. On top of it the windows are dirty!!

Great food, great value, great view!! What else can you ask for?! We loved the restaurant so much, went back 2 days later for more. The must order has to be the dry aged ny strip. YUMMMM! After dining at number of Chicago restaurants, this place is better than the $40 plate restaurants. We had the escargot (and they're huge and juicy) in flaky pastry cups, artichoke baguettes, dry aged ny strip, filet mignon, lobster & shrimp linguini. Everything was so good! But wait, there's more! The dinner even comes with soup/salad. When we order the salad with blue cheese dressing, not only do they make their own dressing, the salad had real blue cheese springled on top. What a find in Moab, UT, of all places?! The only bad thing is that they ran out of prime rib as early as 7:30 pm, so if you want to have prime rib, arrive early.

Service can make or break a dining experience and in this case, it was both. First off the location....is AWESOME! The former home of the Uranium king of Moab, UT. Perched high atop a hill overlooking the city perfectly situated for amazing Sunsets. The decor is modern casual and the women's bathroom looks like something out of old hollywood. Diners were very casually dressed, yet it had an upscale 'ish' feeling. As for our experience; I called the day before to make a reservation for my Dad's 65th birthday and was told they only take reservations for parties of 6 or more, but Kelsey was kind enough to make one for us given our celebration. Upon arrival, we were seated at possibly the BEST seat in the house with an awesome view for the sunset and we immediatley felt special. That feeling diminished as we realized over time (about 25 mins to be exact), that we STILL had not seen our server. We were the second to arrive in that area (top floor), yet EVERY subsequent table had been greeted and served. Upon speaking to the host station, our server FINALLY made it over. We got NO welcome....my name is.....where are you visiting from.....here are our specials.....NOTHING. We then waited an additonal 15 mins JUST for drinks! The large party table next to us had the privelege of having Dean as their server. He was jovial, informative, instinctive and did one hell of a job carrying the tables serving tray. NONE of this did we get from our server, NOT even a Happy Birthday! Thanks, Charlotte....Thanks! We overheard Dean telling the other table that the Prime Rib was NOT availae in a temp lower than medium, yet OUR server told my Dad it was available in a lower temp. Hmmmmmm. When I spoke with the manager/owner, even HE was befuddled by her comment. Be asked if it had arrived yet to our table and it had not. Dean, noticing our disappointment hearing my conversation with one of the owners, stepped in and made us feel great! He EVEN sang Happy Birthday to my Dad, Elvis Style!!!! THANKS, DEAN!!! THANKS!!!!! Our food finally arrived...and it was FABULOUS!!!! My Dad's Prime Rib was to his liking, I had the Lemon Chicken which...was awesome and My Mom had the Honey Pecan chicke. which she was was AWESOME!! So everyone except our server was FABULOUS as was the food. If I am ever priveleged to visit Moab again, I would DEFINETLY go back...just with a different server, LOL. Hopefully, Dean!

Front desk clerk recommended this place. Top of his list. We were very disappointed to say the least. Great view no doubt but expensive entrees and poor quality ruined the experience. Our waitress was sweet but tired and scattered. After reading some of the other reviews here maybe they got a bad rib from their supplier. It is in the running for the worst medium rare prime rib I've ever had in a restaurant of this kind (not counting the "prime rib" you get at casino buffets). Dry, chewy, and tasteless with a weird texture. Their menu states their prime rib is "tenderized with our special seasoning". A prime piece of meat doesn't need any tenderizing. Roll the dice and take your chances.

The reason why it receives a 2 stars is because of the hostess!! We were recommended to come here by the local and said the sunset view is very nice. The place is now leased out to the restaurant owner by Charlie Steen's descendants, he was a prospector and found uranium here, who became a millionaire-known as the "Uranium King!" We were driving there, but happens to follow the restaurant's shuttle bus, the restro actually runs a shuttle to bring customer to the top of the hill - it's location. The place is actually nice, on top of the hill and has mountain view. The food is decent and could have come out a bit faster, but it was busy that evening. We had the Casear Salad Onion Soup as appetizer, and Filet Mignon and Idaho Trout as main course. Decent portion size and everything was ok, except the steak was a little more than medium rare. Our server was efficient and pleasant. My trout was actually good, golden on the outside and still juicy inside. Now why did I give this place a three stars then? I told the hostess I like to sit on the top patio area, where there was still tables, but she said it is no longer open. I do not want to sit in the middle of the other lower patio. At the end I had no choice and the sun was shinning on my face and I was not happen. The worse was that after she told me that the upper patio was not open, then she directed another table to the upper patio! Well, if iit was really close or no longer has the capacity to take care of more customer, then no more customer should have been seated on the upper patio.

This is a solid 2 star restaurant. I will try my best to elucidate. Service: apalling, less than 1 star. When we ordered beers it took 25 mins for everyone to get a beer. Not a single one was poured. Which means it took them 25 minutes to grab bottles of beer and hand them to us. Our appetizers came in about 25 mins after ordering. Which means over an hour had passed between us sitting and ordering and getting our drinks and appetizers. Incredible. People walked by constantly as we had empty drinks, nobody asked us if we needed a refill. We had to grab other table's waiters to help us with that. When we ordered food, half the order was cold the other half warm; completely confusing to us. The food was meh, alright. The fish was made well, not overly done which is a common mistake. The rib was tender, but all of ours was cold. We had to ask for bread to tide us over; the overall wait from ordering our main entree to receiving it was an hour and 15 minutes. For dessert I did appreciate our waittress' candor when she told us the tiramisu was basically a frozen dessert that comes out of a box. The white chocolate cheesecake was awesome and she did say it was made on site. Our waittress also said she was training someone that night but I believe the tremendous delays in service were still inexcusable. For example when we ordered dessert, we were the LAST TABLE LEFT in the house. Still, took 25 mins to bring back 3 desserts, and another 15 minutes to get coffee. 15 minutes to pour a cup of coffee! I can grind beans in my apartment, boil water, and french press it myself in 7 minutes! Incredible. Overall food - average for Utah. Service - needs serious help. I would not recommend this place to anybody until that steps up.

Love the food here. Great drink selection and the view of Moab and the Valley is unbelievable. Great place to have dinner and enjoy the sunset on the balcony. One of Moab's Best!

View is awesome. Drinks were great. Food was above average. We went without reservations at 830pm and had a choice of 20 minute inside table or hour wait for the awesome balcony. Someone didn't show so we got to sit outside! I recommend making reservations. It's worth the view.
