Had a pretty amazing hot chocolate from this place. If you've ever experienced coffee envy for the flavors they'll add to coffee and not to hot chocolate, like pumpkin spice, this is the place to go. Zam's will give you a shot of your choice of flavor in a very delicious cup of hot chocolate.

Great donuts at a great price! My boyfriend and I ordered a dozen--all speciality donuts--for a little under $15 with tax. Our favorites were: the old fashioned blueberry (SUCH a strong blueberry flavor), the blueberry pomegranate, the raspberry filled, and the german chocolate. All of the fruit flavored donuts tasted very fresh, probably because the owners make the fillings with real fruit or fruit juices. Also, I have to say that even if the donuts were just average, we would definitely be back just because of the owners. They provided superb customer service and it was easy to see how much passion they have for their business. Be sure to check them out! You won't be disappointed.

The donuts are fresh and made with real fruit. They will make any donut for you on the spot. The service is personal and friendly. I would recommend Zam Donuts to anyone looking for high quality, fresh, local donuts.

These donuts are so friggin good. We came into this little shop on our way out of SLC and did we luck out in randomly choosing Zam Donuts. The shop owner is precious; she was really personable. She suggested my boyfriend and I split a lunch special which included two donut/croissant sandwiches, a regular donut, some lays chips and a medium drink for about $6 w tax. She let is swap the medium drink for two smalls. We both picked a plain glazed bacon and cheese donut sandwich and a chocolate glazed donut. Let me tell you: the shop and the selection doesn't look very special, but holy moley these were the best friggin donuts I've ever had. They are so good. They're way better than any donut chain or any other small business donut shop; these are some high quality donuts. Definitely worth a try.

Located right of off State Street and 6900 S (Carlson Ave), this ma and pa doughnut shop is a diamond in the rough. While you won't likely find the actual baker in front of house, you will meet the owner(s), and they are full of enthusiasm for their product. That said, I really enjoyed the two doughnuts I sampled. Blueberry Cake: soft, moist, more delicate and airy than most cake donuts. I'd have to add the word 'refined' to the mix, because the icing is silky thin and not overly sugary. The sweet quotient is on the light side, but the blueberry flavor is pretty legit, as in it feels like they treated fresh blueberries and laced them throughout the doughnut. But what do I know? Boston Cream Filled Maple Donut: let me start of by saying, it looked so delicious. But when I tasted the cream, it reminded me of those pudding filled Hostess pies, back in the day. If you enjoy that type of cream, by all means go hog wild. I wasn't a fan. The maple donut itself was just fine. All things considered I can't wait to get back to try out the rest of the flavors.

Let's give credit where credit is due: the donuts--the actual bread, the core, the essence and basis of what the donut is--is actually really good here. Zam is a humble shop in Midvale that just opened, and my biggest encouragement is just that--that the donut itself has a nice, interesting, balanced flavor. It's become sort of the fashionable thing in donuts to slather or drizzle on some flavored topping and to ignore the donut itself, so kudos to Zam for bringing the basics back. There are three main categories for donuts here, in my opinion. You've go the basics (old fashioned, red velvet, cake, glazed), then you've got the iced (basic glazed donut with the aforementioned drizzle flavors) and then you've got the filled (creams and jellies). I might be the wrong person to ask, because I'm not a particularly enthusiastic fan of the iced donut. They do a fine job, and I'm told that's it's not all artificial. Apparently the baker uses real blueberries, for example, when blending up icing in the blender. I tried the lime icing (no word on whether it was real lime juice) and it was near-pucker levels of lime. That's a good thing, but it was also very sweet, as well it should be. Although you can't do more than one without being overloaded. The maple bacon (with housemade bacon) falls into this category. When it comes to the filled donuts, I'm actually a fan of their method. Their approach is that there should be "flavor in every bite," so to that end, they actually slice the donut all the way down the middle (think: bagel cut) and spread the jelly or custard on, then put the little sandwich back together. I've never seen this done elsewhere in Utah, and I'm a fan. I tried the Boston Cream, and a a raspberry. The previous is my donut weakness and this version was nice; their method kept me from getting dry bites followed by a glop of cream all at once. The latter was evenly spread and also enjoyable. For my money, however, I really dug on their plain donuts. The red velvet was simple and smooth. The winner, however, was the old fashioned. Great flavor, not too sweet, very soft, but with that nice old fashioned shell. Also, they do have a few croissants, and I gotta say... dang! They deserve more investigation. Delicate they ain't, but buttery donut-esque goodness, they are. Speaking of money, the 'nuts start at $1 a piece. I don't know if there's a discount for a dozen. They go up from there depending on stuffing and icing, but only by a quarter or two. I'm told they use a different method of preparation that cuts down on the grease, and thus they're supposed to only be 90 calories a piece. Hmmm.... I'll wait to see the science on that one, but even if it's a lesser than normal calorie count, I'm attracted to the idea of a donut that won't take quite as many years off of my life. If they don't have the donut that you're after, never fear. The kind lady at the counter can custom-make any of their donuts while you wait. I was eager to try that Bostom Cream and disheartened when I saw it was sold out. Lickity-split, she disappeared to the back and returned with a freshie. They have donuts that come out of the oven fresh once an hour, so you shouldn't have to wait. Plus, fresh donuts once an hour! Everything above is a real plus in the potential column. Obviously, they're brand new and I'm taking that into consideration. The shop itself needs a lot to bring it up to speed. There are a few cases, a soda machine, some tables, and that's it. They will get smoother over time and putting orders together, and the cash register part of the transaction. It's still a work in progress. I hope they succeed. That part of town needs more lil shops like this. They've got a good base recipe, now they just need to build up the business, marketing, and everything-else side of the business. Hopefully that will come. In the meantime, I'll be chomping freshies more frequently than I should.

Wow! I've driven by this place on my commutes and my inner fat kid always whispers to be "go...go to Zam Donuts". The first time I went in I was enthusiastically greeted by the owner and taught the amazing healthier way that they prepare their donuts. They also make delicious croissant sandwiches. Their lunch special includes two of these delicious morsels, a donut, chips and a drink for under $5. It pretty much blew my mind.

We were looking for a donut place early on a Friday and our office is too far from some of our favorites. So unless someone brings them in our options are limited. We found Zam on yelp, saw a review from a fellow yelper and decided to try it out. We had to pass a 'Dayligh Donuts' on our way over that is under construction, so the real test was whether or not Zam would work it's way into our rotation. The decor inside and general layout of the store is a little odd. It feels like an accountants office that was turned into a donut place. There were only a few donuts left when we got there so that either meant they only make them once a week, or other people had come and bought a lot of stuff. TIP** - Zam focuses on made to order donuts. So there are tons of creations that can be made at your request. It's a different take than most places that have their predetermined set of styles/flavors. I had the Caramel Apple and Red Velvet. The glaze was sweating at 9am which is good indication that the ingredients are fresh and prone to 'wilting.' The base layer of the Caramel Apple is your typical raised donut, but it was both soft and full which allowed it to carry the filling for the apple. The red velvet had a pleasant texture, not too cakey not too spongy. Bottom line, we'll be back and you should give it a try even if it doesn't have the same outward flare that a typical donut shop does.

I was kind of disappointed with my first bite of the maple donut. I know 10am isn't the popular donut time, but they didn't taste fresh. Iasked for a dozen and he gave me 14 and there were almost 1 of each flavor. included were unique flavors like a raspberry, mint (?), German chocolate and a blueberry cake which were meh according coworkers and weren't much better than going to Walmart or the grocery store

Tucked away in a little strip mall, you may miss it driving down State street, go back it will be worth it. The donut selection was creative and as the owner put it "filling in every bite" is the theme. Which after eating a teribble pumpkin pie "filled" dd donut from down the road this fall "filling in every bite" is the only way to go. I highly recommend the lemon filled, it was awesome. Plus there are freshies made hourly throughout the day available as a couple sandwich options as well. Buy local try Zam's!

This is the place!!! Talk about undiscovered treasure! Best lunch deal in town! Love the owners! Love the unique flavors! All of the fruits are fresh. Love the fun! The kid's station to make their own donuts is bankable fun :0) Horn honking, or bell ringing, the owners are great sports and easy to work with. They cater too! Come often!

I'm not a donut lover generally but these guys deliver a fabulous product. Soft, not greasy, just the right amount of sweetness...the boston cream pie and raspberry filled were heavenly and the bacon cheese sandwich on a warm glazed donut was melt-in-your-mouth amazing!

Key Lime, Boston Cream, German Chocolate, and Orange Cream. The frosting had great, fresh flavor. However, the donut was boring and dry

This is a cute little donut shop with AMAZING donuts for a reasonable price. The topping and selection are really good but I feel like that is the easier part to get right...the actual bread part of the donut is so fresh and yummy! We will definitely return and recommend to friends. The service is also very personable and friendly.
