Meh is the best description unfortunately. We have dined at Epic and enjoyed it many times in the past, but this visit was just mediocre. Our waitress was new, and had no idea about the food, wine suggestions, sparkling water, etc. The flatbread was delicious, but our entrees left much to be desired. The filet with blue cheese butter and wine reduction was ok, but a bit overcooked. The pork medallions were extremely overcooked, rubbery and flavorless. The special risotto with mushrooms and bacon was overcooked and flavorless as well. Even parmesan cheese and lots of salt couldn't remedy it. I am afraid that Epic has lost its way. This was one of our family standards, where we could always rely on a good meal at a decent price, but unfortunately this visit may have been our last.

We've been to Epic twice now and had good experiences there both times. Here's what I remember what my wife and I having: *Chicken Cranberry Flatbread - great *Ken's Salad - good *Fillet - good *Angelhair Chicken Pasta - OK Service was good both times we visited. I wouldn't go so far to say this restaurant is great, but it's a nice, upscale restaurant in a strange location.

My wife and I had lunch at Epic Casual Dining during December. I started with their Tomato Bisque and was immediately impressed. We each had Ken's Salad and we each made yummy sounds throughout the meal. I was so impressed that I made arrangements to meet a business associate their for lunch a few days later. We arrived only to be greeted at the door with a "Sorry, we're closed for a party today," now I was unimpressed. However, the food was good enough that I gave them a second try bringing my parents, wife and son there during the week between Christmas and the New Year. This time we started with the Crab Cakes and almost had a family fight over who got the last spoonful (not really, but they were that good). I had the Risotto, unfortunately, I was not impressed - the dish was too cheesy and too rich (but my plate was clean - my mother was with me and I remembered what she told me about cleaning my plate). Of the four items I have ordered from the menu at Epic, three of them have been impressive - I can allow for a miss now and then. Now - the service at Epic Casual Dining - well, it is not quite rude, but not quite friendly. The fact that they closed their restaurant to the public for a private party suggests a kind of arrogance that is compatible with the attitude of the servers I have interacted with there and in the end, it is the service that dings 1 1/2 stars from my rating (yes - I know there is no room for a 1/2 star on Yelp - but some of the food warrants a five star rating and just one 'average' dish is not reason to deduct a full star). Perhaps the owners and staff of Epic Casual Dining could take a look at Gitomer's "Customer Satisfaction is Worthless, Customer Loyalty is Priceless" book and add real customer service to loyalty creating food to create a great restaurant.

Went here on a Friday night with a friend with a Groupon. The food was delicious! Prices were very reasonable even without the groupon.

Best fine dining on a budget in Utah. This is the only restaurant where I will order an appetizer, salad, entree and a dessert. Soooo freaking good.

Epic is a hidden gem. The outside does not match the food or ambiance this place has to offer. My top recommendations are the Blue Cheese Brie Flat bread and the Ahi Tuna (I ask for potatoes instead of rice). Epic offers a wide variety of wine, but we usually carry-in, as they have a reasonable $7 corkage fee. Last year we had our rehearsal dinner here. The staff was amazing to work with and did an excellent job to say the least. We brought in our own wine, they had an assortment of flat breads available to our guests, and they allowed us to order right off of the menu. The party for 50+ went off without a hitch. The service and food was impeccable and all of our guests were impressed. I highly recommend Epic to anyone looking for a great dining experience.

Great food for the price. The salmon was perfectly cooked with the outside perfectly crispy. The risotto wasn't quite like I have had in Italy but its a close second. Service was informative and timed great. I Wil be going back. A meal like that in park city would run about $100, but I feel I got a great value for the quality of food.

I hadn't been for at least 4 years and then I saw the groupon and thought we'd give it a try. We went for lunch. Our server was good, the food was really mediocre. I had the chicken masala and my spouse had the pork medallions. The chicken was good, as was the sauce, the pork was tough and lacked flavor. The best part of the meal was the mashed potatoes. I would have expected the menu to have been updated, but it seems the same as it always was. It seemed the food was made without love and enthusiasm. Its like they were going through the motions. For the price, it just isn't worth it. The service was good as was the atmosphere, but not enough to make great. I guess we'll wait another few years before we go try again.

I was excited to see this restaurant open because it's from the "Tiburon" folks and wouldn't cost an arm and a leg. The atmosphere is good, a little crowded but not uncomfortable. The service is always great and the wine list is extensive enough. Appetizers is where Epic really stood out for me, with the several different types of hummus bread standing out. Any of them are great and run as low as $2. The entrees are acceptable, though in my two or three visits there over the course of the last two years they haven't changed much. The pork and beef dishes are hearty but not exceptionally flavored. The pasta with sausage is good but the portion doesn't match the price very well. Dessert is another positive, as all of them are worth trying, particularly the homemade sorbet. One thing to avoid: the grilled artichoke. A lot of effort for a small amount that really isn't flavored all that well.

  • Amanda H.

This was a nice dining out experience. Although the atmosphere and prices make it a bit more than "casual dining" for me. I was intrigued by the grilled artichoke on the appetizer menu. I love steamed artichokes and I thought it might be an interesting take. Parts of this dish was pure genius and parts of it were highly disappointing. The really tender insides were delicious with a nice charred flavor from the grill adding a nice note. However the parts on the outside got to over down and they were almost inedible. I chose to split the beef tenderloin with my dining partner. The service was extremely accommodating and they even plated the dinner on two plates for us. I was expecting one plated dish and an empty plate. The beef tenderloin was cooked perfectly and was covered in a yummy bleu cheese butter. (Bleu cheese and steak would be my pick for my last meal on earth!) However, the portion was TINY. For $23 they could give you a few extra ounces of meat. Atmosphere: Slightly dressy, cloth napkins and dim lighting. Service: Nice and accommodating, Food: Delish, bigger portions

This place rocks! The food was top notch and our server was excellent. Like Andy H. noted, the Grilled Artichoke was out of this world. I wish I could make something like that. We ordered the Kobe Beef flat bread as well which was outstanding. I had the Beef Tenderloin which was very tender. The Bleu Cheese Butter on top of the steak was one of the greatest things I have had in my life. I could eat a whole tub of that stuff. I sampled the rest of the other dishes that were ordered at our table. The Pork was good and the Tuna was very tasty. I highly recommend this place for something upscale but not too pricey. They could easily charge more for this place. In Boston, Epic would be extremely popular. I am surprised that there weren't more reviews of this place on Yelp.

After eating at their sister restaurant Tiburon I had to give this place a try. The funny thing about this restaurant is its location. I wouldn't expect a quality dinning experience from a restaurant that shares a mini-mall with Jungle Jim's and Arby's. It's very classy yet casual inside. I started off with the Blue Cheese Brie flat bread and a Mr. Mortons salad. I usually place tomatoes in the same category that I esteem broccoli and cauliflower - veggies you can't even force feed me. However, the house dried tomatoes (while soft and squishy) really enhanced the flatbread with a little sweetness. For the entree I ordered the Ahi Tuna with spicy peanut sauce. Two minor complaints: First, the peanut sauce was very mild (definitely not spicy) and only hinted of peanuts. Second, the meal came with a side of steamed veggies that would have been wonderful had they not mostly been cauliflower and broccoli. Ok, I can't really fault them for my childhood trauma with cauliflower and broccoli - I'll give them a pass. The tuna was nicely seared leaving the inside rare. It was a good experience, I'll go back again.

The only thing that keeps it from being 5 star is the snobby server we had. My ahi hit the spot! The mini crabcakes were also delish!

  • Mysti M.

My work took decided on Epic for our celebratory dinner and over 20 couples were in attendance. Appetizers were prepared and waiting when we got there. The flat bread and crab cakes were awesome! After only 15 minutes they brought out salads that included mango and pumpkin seeds. Also, delicious, but it seemed premature. While eating you got the feeling they were trying to move things along--almost to the point of being rude. I had the pan seared salmon with tomato capers...superb! So other than the super speediness...a great place to eat!

Arrived at Epic with great expectations as they also own Tiburon, hands down one of the finest restaurants in Utah. Started w/a Blue Cheese Brie Flatbread that was outstanding. Flatbread typically can be substituted for cardboard with me, but not here. This was light with a little crispiness that was heavenly. Next on to Ken's salad which is one of the best salad's you'll ever find dining with apples, fontina cheese, pecans, etc. I was so excited to try the steak special with augratin potatoes. However the great tastes went downhill quickly. The steak was tough and the Potatoes too greasy. A real disappointment. Couldn't bring myself to dessert after such a disappointment. Stick with appetizer & salad.

Seated promptly. Our server was not pleasant the entire visit. Appetizer (chicken flat bread) was very good and all salads were great. The artichoke my husband ordered was almost inedible. When the server came back to ask if I wanted a second glass of wine my friends glass was also empty and the server didn't even notice. She didn't ask how our food was and at the end just dropped the check and didn't offer us dessert or see if any of us wanted an after dinner drink. I loved our server last time so I will make sure to request so that we have the same great service again!

My boyfriend took me here for my Birthday. The service was excellent and the food very delicious. I would suggest the flat bread and hummas and also their mango with huge sunflower seed salad ( it was one of the best salads I have ever had). I was very pleased with our experience and we definitely will return.

I've been going to Epic for a while now and I always enjoy the food there. The Mr. Martinez salad is delish! Also, the flatbreads are very good as well as the hummus. I've had a couple of the entrees including the beef, ahi, and a pasta. The pasta is the only dish that i didn't really enjoy but it was probably just a personal preference as it was prepared just fine.

I have no idea why there are so many positive reviews. We ate here twice just to be sure that it was really as awful as we remembered. The food was ok, but not great and it was over-priced. The service was terrible and we sat and waited for quite a while before being served. I drink a lot at meals and you would think that I had just asked the waiter to sacrifice himself, when I requested a water refill. Due to the service, prices, and blah food, we will not be returning.

Outstanding! The food was excellent. We started with the crab cakes and the grilled chicken flat bread. Both were amazing. The sweet pepper slaw was almost as good as the crab cakes and the cranberries in the chicken were wonderful. My wife had the Ahi Tuna and I had the petite portion of the sauteed pork medallions and the petite Mr Martinez salad. I really liked that they had small portions of the menu items. It made it possible to sample more of the menu. The pork was great, the potatoes creamy and unique. The tuna was superb and the mashed potatoes and vegetables a wonderful accompaniment. We didn't order any drinks and were out of there with tip for $60. The waiter forgot to bring the salad, so I reminded him and he promptly brought it and comped it. The atmosphere was nice, but i don't know if i would feel comfortable with a t shirt and jeans. A fine compliment to Tiburon. I just wish they had the same bread and amazing vegetable butter spread they have at Tiburon, but all the reason to go to the sister restaurant!! All in all I give it the best recommendation you can, I would go back and I would tell my friends.

Yummy! The chicken flat bread is amazing. Kinda pricey though. We stuck to flat breads and salads and enjoyed a great bottle of wine. The service was great!

I had heard great things about epic so my wife and I were pretty excited to go and try it. We got the chicken flat bread which was awesome and deserves 4 stars, then for the main dishes we got the tenderloin which was ok and the angle hair pasta which wasn't bad, but neither of them were great or deserving of the price. So I would go back for the flat bread but neither of the other two items. All and all I don't think it was worth the $50 we spent.

  • Andy H.

Excellent food and service. Grilled artichoke appetizer was outstanding. Menu was exactly what you see on their website, with a couple of specials. We had the pork medallions and the salmon. The sauce on the pork was fairly sweet, which isn't usually my thing, but I finished every bite. Apple crisp (flatbread with apples, cinnamon, sugar, and topped with vanilla ice cream) is the house special dessert and was very tasty, if a little hard to eat. It was sliced like a pizza, so we ended up folding slices New York-style and stuffing them in our mouths. They have a sister restaurant Tiburon Fine Dining. which is a few blocks down 7th East.

The food here is all excellent -- price not quite so great -- but you can go a little cheaper if you order the chicken flatbread appetizer (soooo good) -- and split a main, is more than plenty for my wife and I (and we like our food). Everything we've had here has been excellent.

I have to say, I was not pleased with the dining experience I had here. We went with several of the dishes that were highly recommended by our server. We were two couples and the women went with the Ono, which was good piece of fish and did have good flavor. However, the guys went with the Veal chop with a mushroom reduction sauce. At $35, the quality of the veal was not good as it was very fatty and difficult to cut, which is not what you want in a good piece of veal. Additionally, the reduction sauce was overly reduced leaving too strong a flavor with which should have been a higher quality of meat. We also did not find the appetizers very good or the desserts. One of the problems I feel is the sheer size of the restaurant and the concentration of the spot also being a night club, which seems to be a problem. At $200/couple for dinner, there are much better places in the city to spend your money. Our feeling is that the food did not match the decor and that is not a good thing,

This is the second time we came to EPIC within a year. We had great experience at the wine tasting dinner last time. So we took their April Speical, 3 courses for $15.00. I had salad, my dinning partner had tomato bisque. Both were pretty good. For main dish, I had ginger Soy pork tenderloin. It was good, but I would prefer a little less sweet. It was very much like teriyaki pork. My partner ordered Pacific white shrimp curry with stir fry vegs, and quinoa. It was a pretty good Thai curry dish. I liked the mascarpone, blackberry compote, spicy candied almonds. Unfortunately my partner did not like it at all. It probably should be 3.5 instead of 4. For the price, there is no complain. For causal dinner, it is not bad at all. We will return in the near future to try other dishes.

Totally bummed at this place. Went in with a great attitude. Wife and I met a big group. There is nothing "Epic" about this place. It is definitely 3 dollar signs, not two. The live music was the highlight. Bland food and HORRIBLY overpriced. I really think the good reviews on here are fake. At 6:30pm the dining room was less than 25% full... and never got busier... bad sign. This place tries really hard to come off special, but maybe its just a young chef or something bc nothing at out table was noteworthy... quite the opposite. Crab cakes for appetizer. Hey, pretty good, but only TWO and SMALL. $11 for crab cakes? Not nearly worth it. Friends gave us some flat bread and humus and it was a Costco cheeseybread quality. My pork "medallions" were thinly sliced, dry, tough, pork chops. The veggies looked like a frozen bag, of which I could barely eat the broccoli. Au gratin potatoes were solid, but how can you mess those up. Very disappointing for this $17 entree. My pregnant wife absolutely hated her fish tacos. She made me drop my review from 2 stars to 1 star. She didnt even eat the second taco. Dry, bland, and $16. Again, just embarrassingly overpriced. But I wouldnt pay ANYTHING for bad food... and it really was that bad. Friends had the chicken salad and did not have anything good to say. Ironically, the images look great and the presentation is solid, too. Service not bad. But man, after tip we were out over $60 and felt ripped off. Avoid this place. It will probably not be around much longer, anyway. Read my other reviews and you'll see that I'm not a total hater.

Love the ambiance, didn't care for the service or the same flat bread served with 3 of the 6 items ordered one being dessert. After being sat down promptly the server approached our table talked so fast didn't know what she was trying to say and then she walked off. Then she came back and asked what we wanted to drink? Once the food was coming out waters went unfilled, and were ignored until she came asking us what we wanted for dessert. The apple crisp sounded great until it came out on flat bread with a slice of apple and some ice cream in the middle. Not sure I would like to go back, surprised how packed the place was for having so-so food except for the crab cakes those were pretty good.

Casual? Not really. Epic? Nah. I mean, it's good and all, just not "epic" good. So this place is more casual than Tiburon (the seats are less uncomfortable, among other things), but it's still pretty upscale. The food is good with some unique flavors, but the menu is pretty small - as are the portions. For this price, I would like to see less empty space on my plate, you know? We enjoyed our experience both times we came, but weren't overly impressed.

Solid 4 stars. They make some delicious fish tacos and an amazing Arnold Palmer. If you're nice, they'll let you order one fish and one steak taco. Mmm mmm! Great atmosphere and great service Perfect for lunch or a casual date.

  • Mari V.

The "flatbread" was an absolute joke. It was like a giant cheesy cracker and they just decided to add "kobe" beef and a little bit of portobello mushrooms. No point in making it crispy just to make it soggy though. I had the angel hair, the pasta had good flavor, but it was a mushy mess. The chicken and pasta were overcooked. I tasted my boyfriend's pork medallions, and they weren't that good. The potatoes were pretty decent, and the veggies were awful. I do have to say, our waitress was phenomenal. We won't be back anytime soon.

The food here used to be good. I went last night after a 4 year hiatus. The Thai pasta entree was gross. It was overly sweet and tasted like peanut butter, sugar and noodles thrown together. There was very little resemblance to authentic Thai food, I will not go back.

Excellent food! The service was excellent, too. Dining partner ordered the pork medallions and ate every single thing on his plate and raved about the flavor. I had the smoked salmon flatbread appetizer, but it was enough - more than enough for a meal. It was delicious. The place was absolutely crowded and the service was still great. Live music that was fantastic, which I find is rare. Absolutely everything was perfect. Braden's service was beyond wonderful. Seriously, I would highly recommend this place!

Love the ahi tuna entree, the risotto is great, too. Good wine list and a perfect ending to a meal is their very light cinnamon apple flatbread a la mode!

We have been coming to Epic for a few years now and it never disappoints. The food is excellent and the service is outstanding. Our dinner tonight was interesting, my wife decided to try something new and she really didn't care for it; I tried it and liked it but she wasn't impressed. Our server noticed that my wife didn't seem pleased so she made her way to us and asked her how she liked her meal. My wife said she want impressed. The server immediately offered to get her something else, without hesitation my wife ordered her favorite dish. There was no hesitation, no push back from the server or management. My wife's happiness was their only goal. This is why we keep going back to Epic.

Not gonna lie, the name was a bit of a turnoff. Epic? Casual dining? Sounds like a high school cafeteria trying to trick people into thinking their cardboard steak is a Ruth's Chris filet. I struggled with it for a couple days before I decided to bite the bullet and try it out. I was pleasantly surprised by the ambiance, which offered calming low lighting and a talented solo guitarist crooning in the corner. I had the special, which was spearfish, sort of like a marlin. Cooked nicely with fresh mango salsa. I wasn't really digging the veggie side, which was strangely sweet and overcooked. It's hard to categorize this restaurant, it's just here, doing it's thing, and doing it pretty well. I wouldn't take a date here, but maybe Grandma and Grandpa when they come to town.

I can't attest to the quality of food this restaurant has. My son and I were looking for a new place to eat and stopped by based on the high ratings it received. The place was empty with the exception of 1 party that had several members. We were sat at a table and asked for a booth. We were told that the booths were only for people who had reservations. We were given water and basically forgotten. We sat for probably 10 minutes before walking out. The waitress never looked our way, we didn't even have our drink order taken. The cooks looked bored, the hosts at the door keeping each other company. This place apparently ONLY takes care of those with a reservation or drives luxury vehicles. .By the way, we are a typical middle-class family, don't stink and wear clean clothes and this treatment was offensive. Can anyone say pretentious???

I've only been to Epic twice now, but I will definitely be returning. Service was good, and the food was great. I'm in love with their crab cakes! The order came with two cakes, coleslaw and a delicious balsamic sauce that complimented the crab so well. It had the perfect amount of acidity and sweetness. I also ordered the risotto with grilled kobe steak on top, and it was very creamy and yummy. I thought the rice was cooked perfectly and I love that it had bacon and portobello mushrooms in it. My boyfriend had ordered the flat iron steak which tasted nice, but the spinach it came with was drenched in dijon mustard so it was a bit overpowering.

After many visits, the place is 4-stars every time! The wait staff is friendly and attentive. They seem happy to be there and happy to see us each time we visit. The food is always somewhere between splendid and excellent, with unique and delicious daily specials. They have a nice wine and beer list, with good prices. Epic has become one of our go-to places in the mid valley. Well done, Epic!

I got the fish tacos. I thought it was great. Our waitress was good considering she was waiting like eight tables. The only reason I don't give it five stars it's because they didn't have a dessert menu. Poor girl had to list all the desserts and I couldn't even comprehend most of it. It was a bit overpriced for the amount of food you get too. The place was really clean. I felt a little underdressed with my superman shirt.

This was a pleasant surprise for me and my wife last night. It's casual dining but the ambiance is really nice with calming low lighting. It was a bit loud though but still is a perfect place for a casual or even romantic dinner. Their flat breads are awesome. We tried the Kobe Skirt steak with grilled portobello mushrooms, roasted red peppers and balsamic reduction. Taste good and provides a refreshing sweet and sour blend of the reduction together with the meat. We should have ordered just one salad and shared. We ordered two and it came with in big servings. I had the Pop's Caesar while my wife had the Mr Mortons. Her's is better considering the mixed greens with balsamic/garlic vinaigrette, blue cheese, red grapes and toasted walnuts keeps the flavor exciting and fresh. For the main entree I had their Ahi Tuna served with mixed vegies and rice. My wife ordered their Seared Skuna Bay Salmon with vegies and mash potatoes. It looked like we had the same mixed veggies. She said it's so-so but I kind of like their herb mashers. For my tuna, I just wish they didn't sliced it so that i can really taste its flavor more. We'll definitely be back, I'd like to try their steak next. Overall it was a good experience for me and my wife. It's a good respite from your usual fast food joint that you'll enjoy both in your palate and your wallet.

Came here on a Friday night double date. Service was great, very prompt. Good beer/wine selection no cocktails but being Utah, not a bad thing hah. Food was really good, basil soup, salad with blue cheese, pork medallions, ahi tacos were among the things ordered. I wasn't feeling great this night but I would absolutely go back and try some other items like the risotto. All in all for 4 people with multiple drinks we got out of there at about 100$. Nice!

I heard great things about this place. We made reservations for my grandmas 95th birthday hoping it would be as good as everyone told us it would be. When we walked in, we were the only people there which is good in theory because you'll get your food faster. I'll keep the rest pretty short. The menu isn't huge, and the options are quite random. There doesn't seem to be much a theme to the food they have. I ordered the chicken marsala... it's pretty much the safe bet. It took a good 30 minutes to come out, which was a little disappointing seeing as though there weren't many people there. The food was meh. Small portions and quite overpriced in my opinion. I ended up getting dessert which was good, but it seemed to be store bought cake with a tiny scoop of vanilla ice cream. Pretty disappointing for the most part. If the food was cheaper, I probably wouldn't mind giving it another shot.

Amazing food! Make sure you get the clam appetizer, it has one of the best white wine sauces ever! We had a reservation at 7, we got there 15 min early and they seated us immediately. Great customer service in an awesome atmosphere.

  • Lin P.

Probably give this a 3.5. My meal (thai pasta) was a bit bland, my husband's pork dish was decent, and the potatoes that came with it were awesome. Kobe skirt steak appetizer was good but didn't knock my socks off. Wishing I would have tried one of the salads or fish tacos.

My wife and I ended up eating the Tenderloin, only after trying the risotto and asking to send it back. She's worked as a server for years and I have never seen her send a dish back before. The risotto was just mush though, server said they cook it in a big batch. Must be hit or miss. The tenderloin was excellent. Would have been 4 stars even with the risotto, but I personally don't feel that customers should receive glares from the servers and the cooks (the kitchen is open) for sending back a dish that truly sucked worse than rice-a-roni. Management may want to look into that. Overall the place has a ton of potential, some great menu items, but the staff lacks discipline. I want the atmosphere to be "causal". I expect the service to be "epic". I give it three stars because I will be coming back again.

What a real Gem. Just had the Ken's salad and the ahi entree what a pure pleasure. This has to be one of the best little Restraunt's in town. Mid range pricing. Little noisy. But the food was amazing. Service was the best.

I discovered this place after finding out it is the same people from Tiburon Fine Dining that runs it. After visiting them twice, I have to say I have mix feeling about them. They have an elegant and comfortable dining area, and an open kitchen. The place is just about half-full during Saturday night, so reservation is most likely not needed unless you are coming on special days like Valentine's Day. For appetizers, we tried the Steamed Clams and Dungeness Crab Cakes on two different visits. The clam was oddly plated with clams in the center topped with cheese slices and bottomed with flat breads soaking onto the watery sauce. Other than the fishy taste, the clams are ok and the bread soaked up the entire fishy flavor. The crab cake was delicious with balanced flavor, just a bit small. For entrees, we went through Ribeye, Shrimp Risotto, Ahi Tuna, Sausage Fettuccine, and Sautéed White Shrimp. Ribeye was plain o' juice and tasty with a bit too much of mushroom though. The risotto was cooked perfectly with no sign of overcooking or undercooking, there were diced ham cooked inside, and the shrimp was just grilled on the side then placed on top. The tuna was decent with a sauce on the sweet side. The sausage fettuccine was very lacking on the "sausage" part with just two pieces, and the dish was cooked with excessive amount of tomato in a red sweet sauce rather than a white sauce. The white shrimp dish was probably the worst of all, there were shrimp, noodles, and some Asian veggies, put all that together and cooked in super sweet sauce that would put Americanized sweetness to shame. It is hard to judge where Epic Casual Dining stands on my scale, for causal food, they had done a decent job at it, but their price tag is nearly the same as fine dining food, which they failed in most of their dishes. There were definitely vicissitudes among their dishes, but the services had been consistent on the good side. It is a place to consider if you are looking for borderline fine dining mediocre food or overpriced causal food. I did not believe I had an "epic" dining experience.

11/10/12 8:30 Delicious Crab Cakes & coleslaw. Great Meyer Lemon White Chocolate Mousse. The Risotto (Smokey Bacon, Mascarpone Cheese, Spinach & Grilled Portobello Mushrooms) was delicious, however the rice was overdone - call me a rice snob. Service was great. Can't wait to try the pork medallions and ribeye.

I love Epic, been coming here for years. My favorites are the grilled artichokes, Kens salad and beef tenderloin. Great food, ambiance and prices.

Delicious! Epic wasn't on the agenda last night, but a last minute change of plans brought us here. I'm so glad it did! The atmosphere was perfect, not too crowded, comfortable and reasonably quiet (especially for a Saturday night). The service was friendly and professional and not too intrusive, while ensuring our needs were met. Blah, Blah, Blah....The food was amazing! We shared "Mr. Morton's Salad" to start and I was in heaven. The greens were incredibly fresh and topped with blue cheese, walnuts and grapes. But the balsamic/garlic vinaigrette dressing was OFF THE CHARTS. The flavors were perfectly balanced and heavenly (yes, salad dressing)! Dinner was "Seared Atlantic Salmon" and "Flat Iron Steak". The salmon was cooked to perfection (portion could have been larger for the price) and delicious. The steak was tender and juicy and served on a bed of dijon creamed spinach, that was to die for (even your kids would eat this spinach)! This was my first visit, but definitely not my last! Well done, Epic.

Last night was my first time to Epic. I went with a couple of girlfriends for a pleasant night out. I had the grilled artichoke for an appetizer then the ribeye for dinner. The portions are big so I have enough leftovers for dinner tonight. The artichoke was amazing! Great flavor, tender and I could have had a couple of those and called it dinner. My steak was cooked perfectly. Very flavorful and tenter. It comes covered in sauteed mushrroms with a sade of au gratin poatoes and green beans. Both sides were excellent. My companions had the Ahi Tuna and the Risotto with Salmon. My friend said the risotto had too much bacon it in, but otherwise it was good. My other friend said the Ahi was excellent. Great service; water was filled and our server checked on us often, but not so often that we were annoyed. She was very knowledgeable of the menu and made recommendations on her favorites etc. There was a guitar player there singing during dinner (James Taylor covers etc) and the volume was perfect so we were able to carry on our converstion. It's a bit expensive for my usual dinner out ($8 for the artichoke, steak was $28), but I will for sure be back!

I love epic. Great food and service. If you know what to order, you won't be disappointed. I recommend the chicken flatbread or crab cakes for an appetizer. Their salads are awesome and they split ours for us which was nice. The tenderloin melts in your mouth and I also love the ahi. The service was really good and there is a guy who plays guitar and sings there once in a while which is kinda cool too. Good vibe to this place.

Delicious angel hair pasta. Large portions, and nice atmosphere - looks like a converted garage. Good service. Just with they served bread before the meal.

My husband and I wanted to try this place after hearing from a relative that it was really good, so when I saw a Groupon deal for it I bought it. I ordered the Thai pasta and it was great. I loved the peanut sauce and generous pieces of chicken. My husband ordered the flat iron steak, which came with roasted potatoes and dijon creamed spinach. My husband asked for his steak to be medium, but I would say it was more medium rare. My husband really liked it, but the portion was on the small side for him. The service was great. We were warmly greeted when we walked in the door and immediately seated. Our server was very nice and attentive. Our food arrived quickly and our server refilled our drinks without us having to ask.

I've been there twice and both times the food was great! I tried the pork medallions and the steak risotto. Good quality food and portion sizes. It's a bit pricy and sometimes the service is so-so. But overall a great atmosphere.

Very refreshing crab cake appetizer served with the slaw salad. The Mr. Martinez salad was also fantastic with the white balsamic vinegarette and pepitas. We would definitely come back and try the other yummy looking appetizers. We ordered the salmon and it was just ok, it was a bit dry and I was not a fan of the tomato and caper sauce. Service was not up to par for higher end restaurant. Our server never came to refill our waters and hurriedly took our order and didn't care to check on us. The hostess, however, was very nice and accommodating. Would give this place another try for their appetizers and other entrees, hopefully with a different server.

Epic = epic fail. My husband and I decided to try it out for dinner last night and I was really hoping to enjoy our meal since this place has pretty good reviews and it is close to home, but we will def not be going back. First, the decor feels like someone went to Tai Pan trading and picked out a few lame pieces and called it good. The wait staff was okay, but they all looked like high school students. I ordered the Tai chicken pasta and it was just meh. It tasted like they melted peanut butter all over the noodles; I didn't eat more than a few bites. Overall, the experience was lacking, especially for what they are charging. For those prices I would expect quite a bit more in terms of food quality, service, and ambiance. To put it simply, we won't be going back. There are so many better places in the area. Don't waste your time/money here. I don't understand why people like this place??

The ambiance and service were fine, but the food was just so-so. We had the gorgonzola flatbread with sun-dried tomatoes (cold to the touch, neither flavorful nor aesthetically pleasing), steamed clams (star of the night--small in number for $11, but perfectly chewy with a delectable broth), crab cakes (overly bready, too oily and (gasp!) possibly deep fried?), salad with blue cheese, grapes, and walnuts (smallish portion for an entree salad, otherwise reasonably tasty--although how can you go too far wrong with spinach, grapes, decent blue cheese, and a bit of balsamic vinaigrette?), and the tenderloin (cooked well, decent-to-small size, but still not great--and served with lukewarm, lackluster mashed potatoes). I am not drinking these days, but we did appreciate the nice wine list with its excellent selection of wines by the glass. Overall everything was fine, but nothing was exceptional (or close). I doubt we will be back.

POOR Service and unfortunately because of that POOR Food. We have been here before and it was great food and ok service. However, last night the Flatbread was great, the special - Well, they delivered the wrong dinner for me, she said it was for another table, my wife's was correct, the waitress said mine would be along. Wife took accouple of bites and was waiting for mine.. Since our meals were for another table, I thought mine would be out quickly - WRONG - I had looked at my watch just after she had picked up wrong plate.. Over 15 min later mine was delivered, by then I had lost my appitite and my wifes dinner was cold.. Since this was an aniversary of sorts, I just had her box mine and hers up and we brought home.. Warning, their Seafood dinner is not good warmed up - a total loss of a dinner. If my wife had not asked me NOT to demand the manager, I would of had a few words for him/her

I came out of the John, and on the wall was award from SL Weekly for "Best Bang for your Buck". Me and SLW are far apart on this one. My bro picked this place out and it was way over priced for what you get. We had the $9 salmon flat bread and $12 clam appetizer. You could barely find any salmon in the flat bread. What was there was good though. The entrees were not bad, just way overpriced.

Epic = epic fail..Just not worth the money. Several minor food mistakes made my lunch at Epic questionable. No better than a chain restaurants but double the prices. Prices are a little high. One thing I don't like is the temperature of the food. I like my food hot. My wife had the chicken breast which was over cooked and dry with the mushroom/marsala reduction. Also, her potatoes had a grainy texture like you would get from instant potato spuds.I asked for no cheese on my salad and damn it, cheese on my salad when served. FROM OTHER REVIEWS I HAVE READ. WHY WOULD THE OWNER LET THE WAITER/WAITRESS CALL A DINNER ON THERE PERSONAL PHONE TO COMPLAIN THERE TIP WAS TO SMALL AND ASK PERMISSION TO CHANGE THE TIP ON THE RECEIPT. I WOULD DRIVE BACK TO THE RESTAURANT AND KICK BOTH OF THERE ASSES.

Epic made a fan out of me in one visit. It rarely happens that I rate a place so highly based on one visit, but I feel that they earned it. Reserved a table here with OpenTable for a weeknight. I tend to like to try new places on a less crowded weeknight than take the chance of missing something on a busy weekend. Well, this place was packed for a Thursday evening! Thank God for the reservation! We waited maybe five minutes to be seated after checking in, and were greeted immediately by our FANTASTIC waiter (more on that later). The first item on our dinner agenda was apps - we'd heard not to skip this part, and boy were we glad we listened! We tried the Steamed Clams, and I must give kudos to the Chef on this. They were slippery little chunks of heaven! Perfect garlic/wine ratio, mmm. Next came a debriefing of their extensive wine list. Upon recommendation of our waiter, we landed on a Castle Rock Noir and a Gabbiano Grigio, both lovely. Nicely complimented the entrees we chose - Ahi Tuna and Ken's Original Salad. WOW to both. Expertly prepared and presented, and the tastes were genious! Again, our compliments to the Chef! The Ahi was perfected crusted with insanely good spices on the outside, and was gorgeous and raw on the inside. The one bite awarded to me by Hubby absolutely melted in my mouth. He then assured me that his 99.9999999% melted nicely in his. I should mention that Hubby does not eat broccoli. Period. When the Ahi arrived, it was accompanied by the "green scourge," and he automatically turned up his nose. I offered to remove it from his plate, onto mine of course. But the next thing I knew, he was chewing on a piece. (Who the hell are you, and what have you done with my Beloved?!) He didn't speak for a few moments, and I was too shocked to...then he said he needed to speak with the waiter. Uh-oh. My hesitation was vacated when he asked the waiter how they prepared the broccoli. Wow, never seen that before. The waiter told him as much as he could, to which Hubby replied, "That's okay - it's enough for Her to experiment with, because I will need to have this again soon!" Whoa. (Note: I now prepare broccoli in this, the only way he will eat it.) Ok, moving on. My entree salad was divine; fresh dark greens, fruit, nice vinaigrette, and candied pecans. The waiter warned me that it's a sizeable salad, but, please, it's a salad - I can handle it. Yeah, I couldn't handle it. And yeah, I did take the rest home in a doggy bag. And yeah, I did eat the remainder at midnight. We couldn't resist the dessert menu, and got two to go; the New York Cheesecake with a lovely dark berry sauce, and the Chocolate Cake with fresh raspberries (sans the vanilla ice cream). We loved them both, the next day. I would strongly recommend the Chocolate Cake for my fellow chocolate lovers. One of the highlights of our Epic stop was the service. Our waiter was very friendly, informed, and willing to share his knowledge without making us feel imposing or ignorant about anything. He was attentive and kind, keeping us well taken care of. We didn't really have to ask for anything, as he was ON his game! He garnered a sizeable tip from us because he truly deserved it. It's not cheap dining, but we felt strongly that the overall experience was definitely worth the price. We have been talking non-stop about our next visit to Epic (and their sister restaurant, The Wild Rose). It was excellent, and next time I cannot wait to try their Flatbreads, the Sauteed Shrimp, and their Pork Medallions!

Marginal, at best. The entrees we ordered (beef tenderloin and pork medallions) were clumsy and insufficiently seasoned. Sauces were watery thin and without the complexity a proper reduction would produce. Vegetables were heated from frozen. Potatoes au gratin were unseasoned and had only a hint of cheese. We had a gift certificate, so we ended up paying only for our beers (none of which are on tap, by the way). Otherwise, I would have been upset paying for our meal. There are plenty of great places in Salt Lake City to eat. I encourage you to seek them out before eating here.

Good thing we got our food for 50% off. Otherwise we would've felt cheated. Flat bread was pretty good, but shared among just the two of us we started getting tired of it. Caesar salad was mediocre. The pasta dish was also mediocre--the sausage was bland and the sauce didn't have much flavor. Service was okay. It seems to be a trendy place. Crowded, and lots of people who look like they have money. But the food just isn't very good.

I came here with a friend for a little bite to eat and some wine. The ambiance is ok, the food is ok and the wine list is mediocre. The company I was with was FANTASTIC, so there's the trick! Come with great people and you might not notice the deficiencies of everything else :)

Too much going on at this place. Although the flavors weren't bad, there was too much on the plate and too much sauce on the meats. Would love to see them scale back and take the "less is more" approach as it'd only improve this place.

This was a pleasant surprise! Order the flat bread for an app or entree! Inexpensive wine list and friendly service!

Bummer experience... Got the chicken flatbread it was tasty.. We ordered the Ahi Tuna and Fish Tacos... Both had no flavor at all.. Very bland.. Ahi had a sweet peanut sauce but even that tasted watered down.. I prefer peanut sauce with a bit of flavor and spice... Non here... The fish on My fish tacos tasted like it was poached with no added spice at all.. I put the side sauce on them to try and choke one down but the poached fish taste ruined it for me... Sorry Epic I'd have to say Epic Fail this time..Server Megan was great

I had their fish tacos. Everything was really good except the fish. It was over cooked; the texture was more like chicken than fish. Cool atmosphere inside though and the service was excellent.

First off for 99% of the friends I tell about this place, the name isn't a byproduct for the overuse of the term "epic" as in, "The food is EPIC!" It derives from "epicure" - person with refined taste (usually with regards to food and drink). Although I'm sure here on Yelp I'm preaching to the choir, most people already know what it means. Personally I'd rather refer to myself as an Epicure than a "Foodie" but when I use the term around most people they stare at me blankly and say, "Wow... What's it like to be able to see the future?" Anyway it makes it easier to remember the name of the restaurant; and the food is epic, by both definitions. Epic is created and run by the same people that do Tiburon Fine Dining, so it's the same style food; think French Provincial cooking with rich reduction sauces. There are some dishes that seem to be experiments by the chef to try something different, but I don't feel these work out as well as they do at Tiburon. Rather than try for the fancy dishes stick to the basics: Beef, Chicken, Pork. Start with the Crab Cakes for the appetizer, they're basically the same amazing crab cakes at Tiburon. They're cooked to perfection, the sauce adds a great tang, and the vinegar coleslaw style salad with them is great. We also tried the Kobe Skirt Steak Flat Bread and loved it, the steak plus Portobello mushrooms in Balsamic reduction is a great combo, the roasted red peppers adds a nice sweetness. Entrée-wise, like I said it's best to stick with the basics. The Grilled Tenderloin is fantastic! It's hard to tell what's better with it, the Port Reduction sauce, or the Blue cheese Butter; and of course being tenderloin you can basically cut it with a fork. The Chicken Marsala is also a favorite, chicken is so good at picking up the flavor of the sauce it's cooked in and the mushroom marsala sauce is fantastic. The sides with the food are pretty standard, potatoes and vegetables but it's really nice to go to a restaurant where the side dishes are really good and not something that is going to be shoved off to the side or ignored. I've also had the Seared Salmon and Sauteed Pacific Shrimp, neither of which I particularly cared for. The Tomato Caper butter on the salmon isn't really what I'd pair with salmon. And the Shrimp is a sweet shrimp and noodle dish, more like what I'd expect at a Chinese restaurant than here. Afterwards be sure to get the double layered chocolate cake and split it with somebody else, it's just too rich for one person. The Lemon White Chocolate Mousse and Apple Flatbread are also both very good. The restaurant itself has nice décor, we found that weekdays they sometimes have live music but it's not too loud to be distracting (I thought it was just the house sound system at first). Weekends are packed, I think they don't have the live music because it would be drowned out by all the conversations going on; so be sure to get reservations before noon if you're going on a weekend. Service is great and they're happy to make sure you have everything you need; prices aren't too high but aren't cheap either; most entrees are in the $15-20 range. I'd definitely recommend going out of your way to come here for dinner, it's one of the best restaurants in the valley in its price range.

Oh Epic. I had high hopes for you. You might even say I had EPIC hopes. And while I wasn't disappointed at first, the times they are-a-changin' and you, dear Epic, are not. Epic's been around for a few years now. And so has the exact same menu. I'm not looking for anything mind-blowingly different -- it's just that I expect a restaurant of this genre to update their menu from time to time. Perhaps they have an if it ain't broke don't fix it mentality. The problem is that their food is not so outstanding that I feel the need to return for it time and time again. We've been to Epic a few times, and while most things we've had there were good, nothing really stood out as amazing. Here's what we've had: Flatbreads - House-Made Hummus (Three Olive Tapenade & Hummus) Grilled Chicken (Dried Cranberry English Cheddar, Toasted Walnuts & Garlic/Parsley Aioli) and Kobe Skirt Steak (Grilled Portobello, Roasted Red Peppers & Balsamic Reduction) They were all fine. Good. Fine. Nothing to write home about. The Dried Cranberry English Cheddar is amazing just for eating, but everything else just felt like a tease. Ingredients were skimpy, and overall the flatbreads just didn't satisfy. I've had more satisfying bites in a little amuse bouche than I had in these entire apps. App - Grilled Artichoke - Parmesan Cheese & Clarified Butter. Read: DROWNING in clarified butter. A giant greasy mess. A terrible thing to do to an artichoke. Entrees - Chicken Marsala - Mushroom/Marsala Reduction & Shallot Herb Mashers. Fine, decent. Standard flavor profile. Nothing particularly innovative. Seared Beef Sirloin - Black Pepper Crust, Brandy Cream Sauce & Au Gratin Potatoes. I was really hoping for something akin to Steak Au Poivre, a lovely classic French dish that this thinks it has the flavor profile of. Not enough sauce though. Also, I normally hate Au Gratin potatoes for their watery, grainy, flavorless taste and texture. I hoped I would like theirs. I didn't. These were not boxed, but they weren't much better. Ahi Tuna - Seared RARE, Sweet & Spicy Peanut Sauce & Basmati Rice My husband ordered this twice. To me, it was okay. Nothing to write home about. I love a good rare seared Ahi, but the peanut sauce overwhelmed it. Truly there is nothing they serve that I can't create at home (with the exception of the amazing cranberry cheese that I haven't found a different source for). And, when I create at home I can put all the steak I want on my flatbread, and all the sauce I want on my Au Poivre. And better still, I can serve it with Potatoes Anna, which I far prefer to Potatoes Au Gratin. So Epic, I sincerely hope you see the light and decide to spice up your menu with a little more variety. Because unless you learn to mix it up, I'll just keep mixing it up for less money at home. And I want to like you. I really, really do.
