Ok food, ok service. Nothing that really caught my attention except the hamburgers on the kids meals!! Those were yummy! Another reason why I wanted to stop by and try is was to check out their menu for a late snack. Looks like their full menu is available 24/7... awesome!

This spot is a quaint little diner. We were seated fairly quickly at a booth that was decently sized. The coffee was alright that was served. I went with the garbage hash with no peppers. The hash was not too bad. The onions were not cooked but it did bring on a crunchy aspect to the dish. Not sure if that was done on purpose. The hash was decent and the bacon ham and cheese that topped it was done quite well. I would recommend ordering the half portion of you're not too hungry.

Came after camping with Sky T. and Sam V. Sam V. and I split the garbage hash as everyone had recommended it. I was kinda hungry and so was Sam but it was perfect to spit between the two of us. Even if I were starving I'm not sure if I'd be able to down that baby. Tons of food, heavy, but delicious. We got two eggs over medium with it, excellent. Potatoes, cheese, ham, bacon, peppers, onions, maybe more veggies, and toast. Great breakfast food although I'd think even better sobering up food :) Bill came to $12 after tip, $6 each is great. I'd come back, especially because it's like right next to my house. P.S. they're 24 hrs! and take American Express!!

The omelet was over done for my liking, but the muffins are really good.

Shawna is a great waitress. She knows the menu and offers everything she loves to eat herself. I've had her twice to date, and I would come here just to get the same service from her. The food is good. Not life changing, but good, hearty food that my picky husband enjoys. I like the ranch dressing here. Some places have it too sweet or too sour. Onion rings were great the last three times we ordered them and I'm in love with onion rings! *Will update per visit.

This place is great, it's open 24 hours a day! I've been going here since I was a little kid. I normally order the belgium waffle (extra crispy) or the garbage hash, with a cup of hot chocolate. Food 4/5 Atmosphere 3/5 Service 4/5 Great place to find some breakfast food late at night :)

Worked all day and night from the top of Utah to the bottom and back. Got back to the Midvale area really late. Not much still open on a Sunday night into Monday morning. So we checked Yelp and saw this place. Reviews weren't the best but thought we would try it. Better than Denny's right? Nope. Worse. So we walk in, place wasn't bad looking and hostess seemed ok enough. The tables and booths could use some updating, well, the whole place really needs and upgrade or to just be torn down maybe. Didn't go in the bathrooms, so I can't comment on that. There was only a couple other tables with people at them, and a group of about 6 guys at a big table. Now, I'm visiting from CA for work, and it is a lot colder here than back home. It was probably low 40's outside and when we walked in they sat at a booth. Everything seemed fine, but it was exceptionally cold even inside. So I put the hood up on my jacket and about 2-3 mins later the hostess comes over and asks if we would like to move. She had sat us at the draftiest table in the restaurant according to her and we looked cold. So we moved tables and it was slightly better. Another couple mins goes by before our server arrived. He asked our drink order, I just got water, my co-worker wanted coffee, but they were out of liquid creamer and didn't offer milk, so he settled on water too. He got Italian sausage with scrabbled eggs with cheese on top and rye toast and I just had an order of "hash browns". I put that in quotes because they were not hash browns. They were home fries, sliced par boiled potatoes that were cooked yes, but not crispy at all. Mostly just a soft mess of unseasoned potatoes. I was bit disappointed because I had really wanted some good crispy diner hash browns, ya know, shredded potatoes fried up all nice and golden. He said his food was good, and it did look decent. Then the bill came. It was only around $12 bucks, which was a great deal we thought. Only issues we talked about at the table with the bill was the fact they charged $1.50 for the little bit of cheese on the eggs, which the server did not mention there would be an up-charge. Also, while we were eating the group of guys at the table were loudly cussing and saying some stuff that some people may find inappropriate and no one working seemed to care one way or the other. I'm not easily offended by cussing and stuff, so it didn't bother me a whole lot, just thought maybe someone would suggest to them to kind of keep their voices down. Anyways, we walk up the front to pay our bill and my coworker asked about the up-charge for the cheese, asking why it was so much. Our server, who was also cashing us out casually said "Oh yea, they like to rape people on that." RAPE people? Really? I know I said I don't offend easily, but that really upset me. How dare you use that terminology so lightly, especially when there was a woman(me) standing right there! I get the charge is excessive, but say it that way. Or say, "Yea, I know it's a but high, I'm sorry about that, but it's a charge set by management." Say it's a bit of a rip-off. Don't dare say they are raping people. Besides the fact the food wasn't great and they seemed to be out of a lot of stuff(the table of guys tried to order pie and ice cream which they were out of almost all selections), the fact that they feel it's appropriate to speak to customers like that is unacceptable. I'm not in the SLC area much, but my job has me travel everywhere, and I love supporting local businesses and restaurants while I am traveling, experiencing what each city has to offer, and this was a terrible example of SLC dining. My advice is, if you want mediocre food for cheap, stick with the Denny's down the road a bit. At least then you'll know what to expect food wise, and I've never been in a Denny's where the servers use rape as an explanation for the cost of something.

Went there today and received the worse service! Ordered orange juice and hot chocolate, our waiter never brought it. So asked another waiter for it, which he brought out. As we're paying they charged us double and argued with us. Finally our waiter cleared up what happened but the cashier was all mad at us for no reason! Seriously, we wouldn't be arguing with you over $4.53, you idiot. Learn how to communicate with each other before you start charging double for stuff. I'm never going back! Ugh-bitch killed my vibe.

  • Vida A.

Weird vibe and people. It's emo of all ages. server was nice but he had 8 tables so slow. He did well tho under the circumstances. I had the chicken fried steak and it was a frozen patty with no home made gravy. However the veggie omlet was amazing, using real eggs unlike other breakfast places. The cheese fries would have been so much better if the potatoes were actually cooked. I will b back to try other things. Dont know if i can add it to my late night eats yet.

Worst ever!! Food was cold! Got our order wrong! Then when we said it was cold we were called liars! The wait was a very long wait for cold food.

Belgian Waffle is a local staple with great food any time you want it. The ambiance isn't anything fancy, very low key, almost like a truck stop feel. The service has always been good. I usually get the belgian waffle with fruit and ice cream, always a good pick for a low price.

Stopped in at 5am after thanksgiving for breakfast before hitting the road! I went with the famous garbage hash! If u know me, I'm not typically into trying something new but......."when in Rome"! If all my fellow yelpers say jump off a bridge, I jump! Lol Food showed up, looked terribly pleasing! There was wayyyyyy to much food for me (should have a 1/2 order on menu). Come hungry!!!! :-)

Ok... Do yourself a favor & never eat here: Inexcusable service. My tune changed drastically as the server put PALE white "GLUTENOUS CONSISTENCY" PANCAKES on the table then did a "10-hut" & QUICKLY walked away. It took at least 5 mins for me to eye down the manager. The order was taken back W/OUT acknowledging my complaint. It then turned MORE SOUTH as I tried voice my concern again while having the manager make excuses such as the "grill wasn't hot enough".. Ok fine whatever. My beef is why would you put this garbage in front of a customer and THEN walk away.

  • Sam V.

As Doug C. stated, we shared the garbage hash here after an eventful camping trip, and along with two eggs over medium, it was the perfect portion for two people with heavy appetites. This place place isn't much for ambience, but if you're looking to feed a crowd with some comfort foods, this seems like a great place. Reasonable prices, kid friendly (they even got me a coloring page with crayons! ... don't give me that look), and decent service. Not bad.

  • Chris L.

Garbage hash. So much you won't be able to finish it! I usually split it with someone else. Now the bad. The place is in dire need of a makeover. The walls need fresh paint. The booths have tears and are mostly in need of new cushions. The servers station is out in the open. The place feels old... The severs that I like always bolt to a different place... They openly discuss how they start to "not like it" after a few months. I see this place packed all the time. I can help but think that it could do even better if it were updated and cleaned up.

Highlights of why our experience deserved one star: Stale and moldy French toast; Shell in scrambled eggs; etc.

    (1)
  • Kris I.

Very underwhelmed. The hashbrowns were neither hash nor browns. The waffle was okay, but not fantastic, and the fresh whipped cream was not fresh. but the biscuits and gravy were pretty good. It was very busy the morning we went and there is no air conditioning or something. I thought we were going to melt, but somehow we survived.

  • Kevin M.

The food is always delicious and the prices are extremely reasonable, I won't take that away from them. But their customer service is horrid and really needs to be improved. The service is slow, sometimes if you try to order a to go meal they will put you on hold for 15 minutes then just hang up on you. If you aren't in a rush and you want to eat a really nice meal cooked by really good cooks, I would recommend stopping in, but don't expect the service to be anywhere near as good as the food.... Also a lot of the employees look like ex cons and recovering drug addicts.... But maybe I'm just trying to justify the bad service.

The menu is better than the food. Not in my top 10 breakfast places in the Salt Lake area.

  • Tom S.

I LOVE the Belgian Waffle. I've been going here for years, since high school. Easy when it's right across the street from Hillcrest. I have no idea what the whole menu is like, because I only order the omelettes. They are massive, covered in cheese, and served with a side of hash browns that they will also cover with cheese if you ask (and you should!) While you'll probably have a heart attack on the way out, they really are the best omelettes I've ever had, despite a lot of searching in New York and New Jersey, where the diner is king. Presumably the rest of the food is good, but you really should get the omelettes. Yes the wait staff might scare you if you're there at 3am, and it's not always the cleanest place, but the food is great, cheap, and you are some sort of god if you can actually finish them off, since the portions are so large.

I'm going to tell you up front that I did not try the food. This review is based on service and atmosphere. My friend Spencer and I walked in and were immediately confused. No one there was wearing a uniform, so it was impossible to tell who worked there and who was just eating there. Spencer tried asking someone for a table for two, and they snapped at him and pointed to the person he was supposed to talk to. We wanted a booth, so they made us wait until one cleared up. The person who directed us to our booth wasn't friendly whatsoever, and the place seemed dingy and dirty. We went over the limited menu and realized that everything here looked disgusting. Just as we were about to leave, a man that looked like he was tweaking out on a million illegal drugs brought us tiny glasses of water. I could almost smell the meth on him! Spencer and I were horrified, and started looking for alternative exits. There was only one way out, and the bitchy workers were by it. I told Spencer to pretend that he was on the phone, and that it was an emergency. He played the part perfectly, and we were out of there in no time. If you want waffles, go somewhere else. If you want drugs, try the Belgian Waffle & Omelet Inn.

I've been here for weekend breakfast once. I've been here for post drinking/otherwise necessary late night grease more times than I could possibly count. That said, the genre of food and the quality of people watching should not need to be explained here. The waffles are good. The entertainment factor of the foot-long hot dog (or the mere suggestion of such a thing) is priceless. The potato salad is meh, go for the fries instead (Like you wouldn't. Don't even pretend you'd choose potato salad over fries. Ever.) The marinara sauce is wilted green bell peppers and onions in a ketchup based broth infused with green bell peppers. I'm not saying I won't eat it, I'm just letting you know. Okay so the most important thing about this place is Garbage Hash. It's been said in other reviews but I don't mind saying it again. In fact, Garbage Hash. It self replicates on your plate so you get full and still have an overflowing plate to take home, and then it continues to self replicate in the box, allowing you to continue your garbage hash consumption until you can't take any more. Embrace it. It comes with toast and for a little bit extra they will also serve eggs with it. Do it. It's like 9 bucks for the meal that keeps on feeding.

  • Krystal R.

I LOVE THIS PLACE! :D The garbage hash is the best! I always order it with no meat or cheese and extra, extra veggies! They have never messed up my order and always give me loads of extra veggies as requested. Now that I live in Colorado I'm really going to miss eating there and will definitely visit whenever I'm back in Utah!

Eggs Benedict was gross. Over cooked eggs, hollandaise sauce was terrible and potatoes were very bland. My husbands smothered burrito tasted like they just put tomato paste on top of it and cut up a bunch of little smokies for the sausage. My sons pancakes were the only dish that was decent. We'll never be coming back.

So I'm a big fan of the Garbage Hash Plate (*here on out referred to as GHP) found at many local diners. It's just my kind of dish since I love savory breakfast food - eggs, hash browns, sausage, ham, eggs, onions, peppers, mushrooms and cheeeeeze! Load that up with salt, pepper and a splash of Cholula - straight up good grub. Nuff Said. Well my buddy at work said I had to try the GHP over at "this Belgian Waffle place" since we went to Briton's the other day for lunch and had their GHP smothered & gooey. **Belgian Waffle & Omelet Inn henceforth shall be known as BWOI - pronounced BOYEEE like Flavor Flav. Say it with me kids... So away we went to the BWOI for lunch today. We were seated quickly and service was prompt - young blokes like ourselves took our order. Of course I ordered the GHP with 3 eggs over easy and Rye toast. Get the Rye toast - so tasty. My buddy ordered his with French Toast which he said is just plain awesome tasty goodness. I shall have to try that next time. 10-15 minutes later our orders arrive and everything came correct - no mistakes. Always good to get what you ordered. As it turns out the GHP is a BIG plate of food - when is it not? Add 3 eggs and it's an over the top amount of food. This is the kind of dish a big Farmer Joe should be eating to start his day or the late night party owl should be eating to sober up. Anyway you can tell I really liked the GHP at BWOI - I'm definitely going back and will try their other breakfast offerings and maybe some other dinner entrees. So if you're looking for a hearty, flavorful GHP then you gotta stop by BWOI.

Went yesterday with my dad around 9:30 AM. They were understaffed and overworked--servers taking on extra tables and doing the busing, hostess doing extra jobs, etc. The employees seemed pretty unhappy, and I am guessing that they are underpaid for all that they do. The restaurant wasn't even packed, but they weren't doing well with the resources they had. Our server didn't take our drink orders first. We must have sat there for 10-15 minutes before our order was taken--drinks and food at the same time. My dad's order was wrong--he wanted whipped butter on the waffle, and it came out without butter. The server didn't ask if everything was OK and didn't come back to check on us, so my dad had to get up and go ask for his butter since he waited several minutes and his breakfast was getting cold. The food was fine. The bacon was good. I might come back for some random midnight meal since it'd be open, but wouldn't recommend it in general since the service was slow and spotty.

  • John C.

Food was great, we had waffles and bacon& eggs, service was pretty good considering how busy it was. BUT... We were seated right by the cashier and had a long line of people waiting to pay standing right by our table. It pretty much ruined the meal, having strangers standing RIGHT NEXT to our table. Having people's butt's right next to your plate is not my idea of an enjoyable breakfast. So, go, get a waffle, it'll be great, but wait for a booth away from the door.

I used to come here when I was in high school and I remember it being so much better. Now it's a very busy breakfast joint and I don't really care for their bland and undercooked potatoes. However, their waffles are super delicious and I just love the overall feel of an old diner like this one.

I really liked this place, it felt very homey to me, the portion size was great for the price. While I think the service could be better I would still come back for the food. The garbage hash was VERY filling, seriously! If you are starving, get the garbage hash, and don't let the name throw you off. It is seriously good stuff!

Where do I start? The bad service, bad quality of food, dirtiness, or the workers? Hmmm, I guess ill start with the quality of food! All I can say is ill never waste my money again. It wasn't all horrible but the gravy taste like its out if a bag. The coffee was disgusting. I found a red glob of something on the inside of my coffee cup and I didn't use ketchup or jam. Speaking of jam all they have is some in packets laced with high fructose corn syrup and more corn syrup, would be nice if they offered some homemade or local jam/jelly. However the biscuits were tasty and so were their potatoes. I should have known to not eat at this place when I walked up and saw a crack head looking employee smoking in the back who turned out to be a cook. Our waiter needs a new career. Our coffees needed refilled and he didn't check on us nearly enough. So with the dirty cold coffee, bad quality of food and the creepy staff and I think I'll pass on eating here for life.

My rating was given as an overall.... First of) food; it's good. Not the best, but good if you like waffles covered in fruit, sugar and icecream on the side... I got corn beef and hash and it's pretty standard to USA specs. Service) WTF mate? Takes awhile for them to realize your in their area. Don't sit by the kitchen, has a nasty cold draft that will make your meal unpleasant. Overall it's an ok place to check out....no high marks in anything. Probably would have been rated higher if the service was better....

My friends took me here one night after we helped a couple of friends move into their new apartment. This is a diner/hangout spot that offer hearty home-style meals, breakfast, and desserts. I had the Spanish omelette and it was loaded with fresh peppers and meats, and it was greasy and delicious. Most of my friends got their waffles with fresh fruit and whipped cream and they liked their food, too. The atmosphere was relaxed with occasional high school or early college kids laughing at each other and stuff, but overall chill and the food was pretty tasty and the fact it's open 24 hours a day makes it cool.

This place has turned into such a dump. My family used to eat breakfast here every Easter when I was a kid. I met my mom for a late breakfast on Sunday and it doesn't look like the place has had any renovations done since. Within 15 minutes I was trying to convince my mom to leave and go somewhere else but it was a no go because she had a buy-one entree get-one free coupon. I was there almost 30 minutes before I even got my first cup of coffee. The place was hot as hell and there were flies EVERYWHERE! The food wasn't horrible but it didn't matter because the fly infestation was so nauseating. 45 minutes before we got our food and I never got a coffee refill and only one water refill in a glass not much bigger than a shot glass so I left dying of thirst. I wouldn't eat here again for free.

I had such good food here! The people were amazing and the food was excellent. The people who gave this place a bad review need to stick to Denny's or something.

Wow. I heard it was "not great" but I had no idea. The decor is like a bad cross between Perkins and Village Inn, but I would prefer either of those over this place. And I'm not overly thrilled with them either. The help was ... well, acknowledging. She stopped by a few times which is more than I can say for other places but I think she forgot how to smile. My boyfriend order was torn on two different items, but instead of just telling him which was better, she "helped" him order small portions of both. I had the Santa Fe chicken Omelet. It sounded delicious - chicken, onions and peppers in eggs covered in cheese? yes please! ... but then it came. I think they put all the onions they had in the Omelet and maybe one or two pieces of pepper. it was WAY overloaded. the chicken ... let's just say I'm not sure what part of the chicken it came from. The eggs were completely done, which was a relief and the cheese on top was tasty, I'll admit. My boyfriend got the pancakes and french toast and while he ate it all (he's a boy and he's not overly picky) he did say "I've had better" and "sorry breakfast wasn't good." which is more than he normally says about food. The only reason I gave it two stars instead of just one was because it was an isolated visit and kitchens do have off days. also, the eggs were completely cooked, and I can't stress how important that is. I wouldn't recommend this to anyone - there are so many other good breakfast places this town that there is no reason to double this visit.

Not cheep. Regular $$ cascading prices.... But the Worst brown-crayon type coffee ( "beverine".. ?) and terrible bacon (all nasty white fat & cheep flavor) - The place is run down and the ceiling has got nasty greasy damaged vents. Now Very avoidable, even though nice people work there. Why does a ten cent egg and some pancake batter add uo to $25 for 2 people ?! (INSANE!) Since the economy has hurt and evicerated common sence and quality at some places.... sad, but true. Needs better quality coffee to compete at all these days.. I'll likely wish for better days at this place. Market Street is clean and nice and cheep for weekday breakfast! That is where I will return..

The worst food I have ever been served anywhere, in my entire life. Any positive review of this place must be written by either a friend of the owner, someone high on drugs or someone completely blinded by their sentimental "been eating here since high school" attachment. This place is a run-down, dirty dump and serves food to match. The waffles were cold, soggy and looked and tasted like they were extremely stale, extremely freezer-burned toaster waffles. They probably were. I've tried my share budget syrups and none of them come close to being as awful and useless as Belgian Waffle Inn's. Both link and patty sausages were just as bad as the waffles. Stale, charred black and the worst quality I have ever tasted. I wouldn't feed them to a starving dog. Nothing positive to say about the "hash browns". They were pretty much a huge pile of boiled, soggy potato mush that was a tiny bit charred on the edges. But 99% soggy mush. There's no excuse, at any price, for the horrendously crappy food they serve and charge money for here. If I were homeless, I'd probably rather eat out of a dumpster than the Belgian Inn. This place should be ashamed to charge money for the crap they serve to paying customers. The world's worst cook should be grateful he has a paying job. If it weren't the middle of the night and we weren't too exhausted to drive around looking for someplace that was still open on a weeknight, we would have left without paying after the first bite. I have never given a 1-star review to a restaurant that doesn't have both bad service and bad food. The server was friendly, however, Belgian Inn's food has established a new all-time-lowest standard, undeserving of even one star.

Worst ever!!! We went in to order to go and they sat everybody else behind us before they would even talk to us. When we got home they had forgotten half our order. Not surprising as the 14 year old punk girl was the one that took our order. The food was gross too, oily and greasy. I don't know how you get water into an egg yolk but they accomplished it. Save yourself and go to the park cafe or Ruth's diner heck even Denny's would be better!

Waffles are small and too sugary. They taste like waffle cones for ice cream. Bacon has good flavor, thick slices. Not worth the stop for waffles. I like Eggo at home or La Quinta Inn waffles better. For Belgium type I'd suggest IKEA in draper.

the garbage hash is good, a little light on the ham and fairly heavy on the potatoes. stay clear of the eggs benedict it was more than likely made from powder an extremely salty. coffee was not strong. on the plus side the belgian waffles as their name dictates are fantastic. overall a decent meal for myself and my family. Service is outstanding!

Do not eat here... My husband and I came on Friday afternoon after hearing how great their waffles are and boy did we regret it. We waited 15 min for our waitress (who resembled the grandma from the 90's sitcom Dinosaurs and wreaked of heavy tobacco), then another hour for our food. Naive of us to think, 'man, this must be worth the hour wait and the crappy, run down decor,' but we were completely wrong. our waffle was a bit undone and the smothered burrito tasted like frozen pizza. We were completely underwhelmed!!! The waitress only came by one other time and that was to drop off our ticket. Talk about not wanting us there. The manager came by after our meal to ask us if we wanted a refill (finally)... But then tells the waitress to give us refills. she was so occupied with absolutely NOTHING that she never came back. Tired of waiting, my husband said let's go... Unfortunately, we needed to wait another 15 min for someone to tend us... We even thought we should leave w/o paying given the lack of service and untasteful food ... Finally, another worker asks our waitress if she can cashier and she flat out says, "NO!" The worker then got behind the counter but then overcharged my card by $20. Then, instead of just crediting the $20, she credits the wrong amount back then charged the correct amount. The credit still hasn't cleared so now I've been charged twice and one of them was $20 excess. My husband looked up and said, "are we on candid camera?" Lol. BTW - after the cashier fiasco, the manager comes out and asks us if we got our refills. After replying no, he calls the waitress over and tells her that she should have comp'd our drinks since she never gave us a refill. The waitress replies, "oh $h!+!" Really? I was going to ask them to credit me the drinks but my husband said it wasn't worth another hour wait. I have no idea how they are still open. And if we really were on candid camera, someone better open that checkbook cuz we're coming for ya.

I love getting up early enough to make it in time before breakfast - pretty much getting anywhere before noon on a weekend. My boyfriend took me to this predominantly breakfast foods restaurant this past weekend for saturday brunch. They have a vast assortment of all types of breakfast foods but obviously they specialize in waffles & omelets. I went with a waffle with blueberries and whipped cream. I loved that you could order ice cream on the waffles but I figured it was a bit too early for that and I'm not a child. The place can get busy but once you sit down the service is quick and efficient. I hated the decor, really cheesy and heinous. But my waffle was delicious and really hit the spot! Tip - get the sausage patties versus the sausage links, yummier! And bring some cash because they have a severely addictive stacker game right by the door.

Went back with some friends after a gig for a second try. I was even less impressed. The service is very good, friendly, quick. I noticed some incredibly gorgeous pancakes the first time we went here so I thought I would give them a try...and nothing else. I ordered a short stack and they were completely tasteless. Don't even get me started on the "syrup." Too bad! This is a locally owned restaurant and they are really missing the opportunity to serve up some good home-cookin'!

We went for a late breakfast on a Friday. The service was unbelievable. We had a woman named Toni and she was very attentive and came with the refills of coffee and soda regularly. The service earned this place the extra star. I ordered the French Toast. It was good, but not the best I have had. I would give that to Sound Bites in Somerville, MA. The bacon was AWESOME. I love crispy well done bacon, and that is what we got. If you are looking for an alternative to Denny's this is the place.

I absolutely love this place! I used to come here after a night out at around 2am, so it brings back great memories for me. And the waffles are delish! I love the home style hashbrowns as well.

I crave breakfast 24/7. I love eggs & meat! A good Omelet available til late night? Even better! They had the softest and fluffiest Waffles I've ever tasted.... This place is the place to eat after hitting the slopes which are all only 15 ~ 30 minutes away depending which resort you go to. Service: Good Parking: Lot Price:$

Delicious! This has gotta be one of the best waffles in SLC. Its the flavor of these waffles that kill me - Excellent flavor and though, when I make waffles, I like them kinda crisp on the outside (all over), these are just a little crisp around the edges. Service was fast and my waitress was very friendly, even giving me a refill on my orange juice coz she felt the order was a little longer than she wanted - though i was in and out in 30 minutes! I talked with the waitress after and she said that they cook them on the old, cast iron original belgian wafflers that go into the fire. she said they are asked all the time for their recipe, but they keep it a secret. This is a diner type of place, a family place, and not a chain. It needs a little updating and is a little worn around the edges. Only reason its getting 4 stars is because they have only evaporative swamp coolers and it was 103 outside and about 95 inside. the swamps really don't work well when its really hot out.

Food here is fairly good but not always served up hot, especially the waffles. The place seems to attract the drunken crowd late at night, or people who get the muchies from other activiities. It feels way too much like a run down Denny's or Waffle House, but at least the customers are usually just locals.

    (3)
  • Therron R.

You'll always find friendly service here. A little wait on Sunday mornings but well worth it. Be warned it has that family diner style, but you'll always leave full. Coffee is always recharged often...waitresses from other tables don't mind filling you up. My favs are the omlets served with a side of hash potatoes, and 4 slices of marbled rye bread. Another favorite is the "Garbage Hash" which is a mound of hash potatoes piled in with mushrooms, green peppers, ham, bacon, and did I mention chesse? Yum!

  • Landon F.

The food is really good, but like others have said some of it comes out a little on the cold side. Went there around midnight so not many people in the place but some of the food wasn't even warm when it came out, particular the waffles, and garbage hash. I give it a weak 4 for that.

    (4)
  • Amy S.

Good food, good prices, friendly staff. The waffle was great! I don't know why there are negative reviews of it. It was rectangular, crisp on the outside and so soft, fluffy, and warm inside. I got it with just butter and syrup. I also ordered some bacon, of which they gave me 5 pieces! Most places only give 3 if you're lucky. And, this is the first place to actually bring me extra crispy bacon, it was also thick sliced. I left full and happy.

  • Andy H.

My waffle (whipped cream, apples & ice cream) was pretty good, but way to sweet. My fault for ordering that though. The cheese on my wife's omelet wasn't completely melted. My father-in-law's garbage hash was cool, and my mother-in-law's biscuits & gravy was cool too. Took almost an hour to get our food, and the place wasn't all that busy. I'd go back a different time and give it another shot though.

Disappointed. The service was horrible. In fact a guy we were with commented that you come here for the food, not the service. We were seated right away but our water and coffee came in shifts. And when we got coffee, we didn't have spoons to stir with. We only got silverware WHEN our food came. And speaking of when our food came, what a frustrating nightmare. We got our two orders of eggs benedict, the sauce was cold, not kinda warm but actually cold. The other four meals never came and never came. We finally flagged down another server and told her to check on our food. She came back and said she told our server to check on it. Our server finally came out and explained that someone else had taken our food so they were making the meals and they should be out shortly. We went ahead and ate our eggs benedict and by the time we were finished, the other four meals finally came. The final four meals were waffles. At least they were hot. Never refilled our sodas or water. Coffee was refilled but we ran out of sugar. When I told our server that we were not ok with how our meals and service was, he was understanding. When he came with the check, he said the manager authorized 20% off our check. We were ok with that but honestly, we probably won't go back. We did tip our server fairly and didn't blame him for everything. Although he should've checked on us and the problem could have been resolved quicker and better. If you have other options, don't eat here. The place needs a deep cleaning and the bathrooms are horrible. One of the women in our group said that gas station restrooms are cleaner than the restrooms at Belgian Waffle. Oh and I just need to add that the hostess was wearing a grungy tank top and short, shorts. Kinda scuzzy feeling.

Yes! I was finally able to find my first "greasy spoon" in Utah. Much like dive bars, this is an obligatory category for me to find in a given geography. If this does not sound like much of a shocking revelation to those who know food in the Salt Lake area, bear in mind I have not even been in town a week yet. Much like every other restaurant I have discovered since coming here, I found this place completely at random during one of my drive around, get lost, and discover the lay of the land missions. The decor and tables of this place are about like any other establishment of it's ilk; old school, rustic, and well worn, which is part of it's charm. Our server, an older gentleman in shorts and with a coffee pot permanently fixed to his hand, was very welcoming and fun and he immediately dubbed us a "not from around here" type. Based upon his recommendation I decided to go with the Garbage Hash as my entree (pictured). This consisted of large plateful of ham, potatoes, peppers, onions, a solid 2 cups of cheese and two eggs. Brushing aside the fact that I probably reduced my human lifespan by about a 6 months by eating this cholesterol laden masterpiece, it was sinfully delicious. Our server stopped by after taking away our dinner plates to showcase a huge cinnamon roll the size of a basketball that he had just taken out of the oven as a possible dessert, but that was simply impossible. If you leave this place hungry then perhaps you should give some serious consideration to entering the Nathan's Hot Dog eating competition up in Coney Island this summer. Even though we stopped in at around 7 PM, this place is open 24 hours. I can imagine it is a big hit with the Saturday 3 AM drunk munchies, and Sunday AM hangover crowd. Despite what you might think by reading this, I actually have a fairly sophisticated palate when it comes to cuisine This is the type of dive that every food lover needs in their arsenal. This place is the dating equivalent of that girl that goes to the bar with you and drinks you under the table, and then proceeds to take you home and do awful, awful, wonderful things to you. Not something to be proud of, but a guilty pleasure nonetheless.

I wish 3.5 stars was possible because I do think this joint is worth visiting. We had lovely prompt service by a a tall slender gal with a short brunette pixie cut. She has the perfect disposition to serve someone that just rolled out of bed, has a residual hangover from 2 nights ago and requires Unisom and Xanax to get a full nights sleep such as myself. And it was pretty dang fast considering everybody bitched and moaned that the service here is slow. I had a waffle and my husband at the kitchen sink hash. He really liked it and my bacon and waffle was yummy. I think if you're looking for breakfast food that's better then Denny's but the same price range then this is a great place to check out. They lost a star for the dreadfully dirty bathroom. But the rest of the place was clean and tidy!

Its been years since coming here, and it wasn't that good the. Hubby loves the garbage hash. It's not as good as it was back then, either. A lot of grease, except for the clam chowder. That was actually good! Lol

Can't figure out why we never made it here till last night! Mr H. and I met when we worked at a similar 24-hour diner in Colorado. Night owls like us need a place like this, with a comfort food menu. Our food (Garbage Hash and Pot Roast Dinner) arrived promptly and hot, our table wasn't sticky, and the 3 employees we had contact with were all pleasant.

I have to update this and sadly it's down a star. I must be honest. It seems that their staff are a bit rough looking. Maybe a drug affiliated background or just simply struggling in life. There nice people though. Food isn't that good. Most likely canned and just poorly executed. Their hash is cold with little flavor. Denny's is better than this place just smaller portions. They need a revamp on the whole place and put out better food.

This place is quite awful. My Denver omelet was incredibly salty, buried in layers of cheese, completely missing the peppers and onions, and the little chunks of what I suppose was ham, was crunchy and tasted freezer burnt. Their "homemade" blueberry muffins were burnt up top and I had to pull half of the muffin apart. The Orange juice was the only thing I was confident in consuming. Service was not as terrible as the food. She was doing the best she could with a busy shift. Overall, very sub par and disappointing.

The food is not so great , but when it's 2 am and nothing else is open on a Thursday night in the area, it will do. Food: The Belgium waffle was slightly soggy. The bacon tasted stale. The whipped butter and warm syrup made it bearable. I also had a few bites of one of the omelets and it was disgusting. It had way much cheese. Service: Guy with the beard who works as a host made too many sexual jokes, and made any excuse to come talk to me and my girl friends. HOWEVER, Shannon, our waitress was super nice and is used to dealing with drunk people on the regular. I tipped her extra for being super super patient, sweet, and funny ! I don't post reviews on here often, but I told her I'll recommend her to people on yelp. She was on point with checking up on us. Service from Shannon was an A+

This place fucking rocks. I know I'm probably in the minority opinion here, but I can't help it. I'm a college student who sometimes needs to get obscene amounts of food at 1:30 in the morning. Belgian Waffle & Omelet Inn maybe isn't so much the place you want to be, but the place you need to be. Stylistically, it has the look and feel of not being updated or renovated since perhaps it first sprang up. Which is probably the reason I loved it so much as I'm a sucker for these types of establishments. Let me just say that the people who work here are awesome. Really, think of how many horrifically drunk/strung out people they probably see on a regular basis. And still, everyone who helped us was nice and did their job efficiently in spite of probably being exhausted. I also love the fact that the food was plentiful and the coffee kept coming. I had the french toast, which you can already tell from the first bite is grossly unhealthy for you. Hash browns are not so much hash browns as they are huge slabs of potatoes swimming in grease. On top of all of that, the cheese fries and mozzarella sticks were a match made in heart disease heaven. In every plate of food, you can basically taste the residual food of several years. If you're someone like me who has no problem eating disgusting amounts of fattening food, for very little money, you have hit the lotto with this place.

This place is legand i remember my mom telling me stories about when she used to go there once a night every week after work I've been going every other week i always get the garbage hash or the smothered burrito they know how to do it up and for a added bonus there open all night

I went here for the first time yesterday and it's my new favorite place, for sure. It's definitely not anything fancy, but the food is hearty and delicious. Plus, its crazy cheap. I got chicken fried steak and it was like, $8 or something. The service was great; we got seated as soon as we walked in, our coffee cups were always full, and our food came out quickly. Like I said, it's nothing fancy, but it's inexpensive and filling, and really greasy and good.

This place has always been here for me. Thick and thin an old friend that soothes massive binge cravings 24/7. The grubby fish tank and impossible prize amusement machines always manage to delete every last dollar in my wallet. A great place to come for decompressing from overstimulated entertainment or for sheer boredom relief. A true sanctuary of grub and interesting people to chat with. This restaurant is not a restaurant. It's an integral part of my life. Oh, and the waffles are good.

Awefull... Just horrible. My eggs had shells in them so I sent them back. The waitress was so put out by request she complained about it to the other servers. She did this in my earshot. My husband had the Spanish omelet and the salsa tasted rancid. He ended up not eating it. Finally when we asked for a second refill of ice tea the waitress acted like she was going to kick us out.... Is it that much work to fill a glass of ice tea? We complained to the manager who's hugged her shoulders and would only say that some people don't like the salsa. She acted like the lousy service was ok in her book. I will never go back.

I'm actually surprised by all of the negative reviews about the Belgian Waffle & Omelette Inn. I've been coming here for years and I feel there are very few legit breakfast spots like this place left. The Food: Granted the restaurant's name has 'Belgian Waffle' in it...I wouldn't come here for the Belgian Waffles. The Omelettes here however are fantastic. My favorite is the Santa Fe and if you're a health but like me, get it with egg whites and no cheese with dry wheat toast. You get great bang for the buck here. Other great items on the menu are the Garbage Hash (great for hangovers or drunk munchies), the grilled Pork-chops, and surprisingly the Sirloin. I can't speak to the other items like burgers and such, but you're coming to a breakfast joint so why get a burger? The service: I suppose I've been lucky and have always had great service here. Whether if it's the lady that reminds me of Elvira or the super yoked out bodybuilder Ben (I only come here at night on weekdays and late nights on weekends) service has always been excellent. They could be slightly biased towards me too since I frequent this establishment. Overall, if I had the choice between Denny's, Village Inn, or this place, I would go with the Belgian hands down. In regards to the place being dirty...it was established in 1979 and aesthetically it may be a bit of a dive, but I feel that's part of the experience.

Go to this place sometimes when I want eggs Benedict and I don't feel like going far. I forget until I walk in just how unattractive this place is. It needs a serious remodeling and steam cleaning. There are dead flies and always trash on the floor under tables. Last time I went, it smelled like my grannies house, the scent of old people and Prell shampoo. I don't think it' been upgraded since it opened. I wish they would install A/C. All they have are swamp coolers and it isn't exactly cool. One broke down and it was warm and uncomfortable and the staff wasn't helpful at all to find solutions to cooling the place down. The staff doesn't exactly seem excited to be working there. Slow and lethargic, they don't' really check on you and more often than not forget you are there till it's time to tip and pay up. The food is meh. I think the microwave a lot. Some of their things have that pre-package taste to them. One waitress told me that the fruit used for the waffles, except bananas, is canned. It can be hit and miss with things like the garbage hash, which is tasty. Some days you get huge chunks of potatoes, other days, they take their time and cut them finely. I prefer the smaller ones. Id say avoid this place unless nothing else is open near you. You'll get better food at Dee's dinner or any of the other places around the valley that serve breakfast all day. The only thing is, this place is 24 hours so they have part of the market cornered.

Abysmal. The food wasn't the worst, but there is nothing positive to say about. Unprofessional and apathetic staff. Dirty facilities. Bathrooms are right by the entrance so you can smell those as soon as you come in. Just go to village inn or Denny's. I Ordered a couple days ago, but when I get my food I'll be sure to update this review.

Because we've so extensively and somewhat exhaustively mined all of the places nearby and because I have no great wish to go downtown or to WVC, if I can avoid either, we've lately decided to go off exploring and just driving South to whatever place we can find that is open at a given meal time and, perhaps more importantly, does not feature an extensive wait, which is how we stumbled onto here. I've known of this for a long while, but Fort Union can be a cluster at the best of times and with construction in the area, something that would tend to just aggravate me more than normal, but as I hadn't ever quite made it to eat here, despite attempts in the past, I walked in sort of having an idea what to expect. This is an all-night restaurant, which means a couple things. After-bar binge-eating, hangouts for night owls (I saw a group of teens in the corner and had this been 25 years ago or so, one of them would have been me) and a great way to knock back a hangover. There were also some older folks here, which also comes with the territory. Service tends to be friendly and familiar, but not speedy at these places, which was the case here. This is definitely one of those places where you have to order the right thing. With both "Belgian Waffle" and "Omelet" in the name of the place, I figured to order one of those two things. I went with the Belgian Waffle, which was acceptable, but I wish they would have mentioned the fruit was either a compote or preserved rather than fresh. Whipped cream was fresh and excellent. Iced tea was over-iced, but otherwise ok. The bacon I got, out of 5 pieces, zero of them were cooked correctly, so I had to skip quite a bit of it. My son had the mac and cheese, which was probably the best thing. It was surprisingly good, though it looked like Kraft. My wife got the Garbage thing. The hash browns in the pictures looked unappealing to me, so I skipped that and she wound up being quite disappointed, but the food was a massive quantity and more than she could finish. This reminds me somewhat of Dee's, where it's a good standby, back-up, anchor or whatever you want to call it. You know what you're getting is not going to be ever mistaken for fine cuisine, but you can know what you're in for and can generally rely on it as a good fallback option.

Spent a late evening out and was looking for an after hours place to eat. I would have to say the food was not bad and our server was great. I had the smothered breakfast burrito with the red sauce. The sauce had a basil with oregano taste to it , which I enjoyed. Others in my group had the garbage hash, fried shrimp with cheese fries and cheeseburger. I opted to have the Belgium waffle with strawberries, whipped cream and ice cream for dessert, great choice. I would visit this place again and would definitely recommend the waffle.

First time we went there didn't think we'd be back but a BOGO lured us back in. Food not bad, but service that time was horrible. Second time, croissant sandwich and basic breakfast good and generous portions. Good service that time with a different server. Third time, poached eggs cooked perfectly; 2 big links of Italian sausage really good. Breakfast sandwich good. Real potatoes good, but not crispy as requested. Server was right on top of everything.

The last time I was here, I remember it being an almost out of this world experience. I had a buy one get one free coupon, so I decided to try two of their mainstays: the famed garbage hash and one of their waffles topped with strawberry and ice cream. Boy! It was...DELICIOUS...MAGNIFICENT...AMAZING!!! The garbage hash does live up to its legendary fame. It literally covers an entire platter, with stuff ready to fall off the sides. It is, from first sight, one big MESS! But looks can be deceiving, I suppose. Packed into that monstrosity is a ton of hash brown and a ton of cheese. Mixed in with all the ingredients and you've got something quite unique. Nothing like anything else I've seen before. I was initially thinking that there was no way I could finish all this, as it looked like it was designed to be shared. BUT 1) I was hungry and 2) I was feeling greedy. And so I decided to challenge myself. And, sure enough, bit by bit, the monstrosity was COMPLETELY dismantled. Until there was nothing left but the fork on the plate. It was stuffy, sure...but oh, it was so GOOD! The waffle with ice cream and strawberry was...how should one say...HEAVENLY? Just one bite and you literally feel like you're in heaven. With the ice cream melting into the strawberry dripping juice into the waffle grooves...UMM UMM UMM YUM!!! Best of all, it was real ice cream and real strawberry! Again, I don't think I've ever had anything like it (especially at a place like IHOP where it's questionable whether the strawberry and the cream are even real). Well, you could probably guess the outcome of that. Again, nothing left on the plate except the fork. By this time, I was really, REALLY stuffed, but I hadn't felt this good in a long, LONG time. The server was also really nice...really funny and quirky. He was very attentive, sure...but the thing I remember most about him was that he kept greeting people coming in in different languages. Spanish...French...German...maybe even Russian??? Anyway, being a linguist, I found that really cool...and I gave him extra kudos for that...baksheesh, that is.

I left a review five years ago and ya know what the prices haven't changed its good its open all night it's cheap and that's really how breakfast food should be not some 12 dollar crepe at ihop. One of the only places where cheese fries means a free flowing plethora of gooey goodness

Definitely hangover food. Super greasy but surprisingly tasty... Again, hangover food. Its nothing fancy, service is hit or miss, but it's got some sort of special place in my heart. The waffles are pretty darn good, though.

When I first saw the name, I thought it is a hotel of some sort, and then I realized the place is actually a decent breakfast joint in Midvale located right across the street from Hillcrest HS. They have a diner type of setup and the place seems always packed! Despite having the Garbage Hash elsewhere in another joint nearby, I decided to try the same dish again here. Sadly, it was not as good, the eggs were a bit overcooked and overall combined flavor was slightly off. Another time I had their Belgian Brunch with a slice of ham, the Liège waffle was delicious with a powder sugar and maple syrup. The meat tasted ok. It is nice to know there a breakfast place like Belgian Waffle & Omelet Inn around the corner in the south, and know that they are not a hotel after all. However, they do have a major problematic service here...

My wife wanted to go to Target last Saturday because some designer was releasing a clothing line that morning. Since I'm a wonderful husband, I made the early morning trek down to Midvale. Afterwards, we were on the hunt for a decent breakfast joint in the area. Yelp showed there weren't many options and, for some reason, Belgium Waffle & Omelet Inn stood out, even though my gut instinct said to "pass." Upon arrival, we noticed two staff members smoking in the back. No biggie. Except one turned out to be our server. Nice lady, though. The place was packed, we were seated quickly. I still had a weird vibe about the place...unexplainable. Strange clientele? Maybe. Looked down at my silverware and dry heaved - A huge glob of orange on my spoon. We left.

Literally the worst food ever. Soggy fries, half fried mozzarella sticks with marinara sauce mixed with salsa and tasteless waffle shaped nastiness. Only redeeming quality? The snarky waitstaff. I hate to admit it but the waiter alone will probably bring us back...after several beers....

Just ok, a little better than Denny's and IHOP. Waffle was good not great and hash was fine. Nothing bad at all just not something remarkable. Weekends are crazy busy and it's not worth a long wait. Prices are good and service friendly. I've been back several times but likely won't go back.

The only time to eat here is after a hard night of drinking, that way you don't know the food is that horrible and that the place is so filthy. I don't know what happened this place used to be good as a kid....

I love the garbage hash. It has such a good flavor, I get an extra order to go because it even tastes good reheated! I always order mine to go so I won't comment on dining in, but the food is super greasy which I think is just fine. I go here for flavor not for anything else. The only thing that I do wish they would do better is the pieces of potatoes that are black that they leave in your food --that should not even be served to customers. Take the few seconds to remove those before dishing these to hungry customers.

Not the best place to eat, nothing special about the food. The manager was having an argument with an employee and everyone could hear it.

My husband took me here for breakfast. I ordered the eggs Benedict with my English muffin well done, no hollandaise sauce with sliced tomatoes. I have ordered it like this at other restaurants with success. Unfortunately this was a FAIL. The eggs should be runny not hard poached, hence my request for no hollandaise sauce! The tomatoes tasted gross, they were pink and mushy! The only good thing was the waitress.

Great service!! The server was so nice when taking our order. Very friendly and accommodating. The food was out very quickly and was so delicious. But what really sold the place for me was when one of the staff offered me a blanket cause I was cold. Killer service. Not to mention it's open 24 hours a day. I will definitely be going back to try breakfast in the near future!

Actually kind of good! We got a lot of food for the money. So why the 2 stars? First, the coffee was bad. 7AM - I need my coffee; it tasted like sweat-mold. Second, the food is SO greasy and soupy. It looks Nasty. It was REALLY tasty, but I just know I'll be paying for it later. I would be more okay with smaller portion sizes if it meant higher quality food. The waitress was kind, but too quiet and disengaged - read: Low energy. The booth was a bit uncomfortable and the place wasn't particularly clean. I appreciated breakfast, but this place cannot get more than 2 honest stars: this place in no way pretends to offer 5 star food, service, ambiance, or cleanliness. Ultimately, you get what you pay for (and pay for what you get ).

What happen to this place? At one time they use to be great, clean, and the food was great. We're disappointed because we had great service, the ambience was clean, and the food was delicious. Now everything has changed......customer service, atmosphere, and cleanliness. Haven't gone back..don't plan on it.

Great food definitely home cooked fresh ingredients!! Me and my family love this resturant anytime anyday! The only thing is its very crowded and not much room for guests. Service is great and have only had one lazy waitress that brought us out cold food. Other than that the food is consistent and delicious! Very very happy to live close to this resturant. THANKS FOR THE GREAT FOOD!!

I have been to this restaurant several times over 30 plus years and my visit today will be my LAST!! I wanted to get a breakfast omelet to take home and ordered the Western omelet. I asked for the hash browns to be cooked very crispy and the wheat toast dry (no butter). When I got home, about a 10 minute drive, what I discovered was awful. There was a omelet, potatoes and a separate box of bread, notice I did not say toast. The omelet and potatoes were cold and mushy. There was not even an attempt to crisp the potatoes and the bread was just that, 2 slices of wheat bread that was never near a toaster. The whole breakfast was thrown away and I couldn't bear the thought of returning it to Belgian Waffle and Omelet Inn, because of my anger at being taken advantage of. It is so very sad that restaurants feel they can treat their " to go" customers this way. Thanks for NOTHING!!!

We ate at Belgian Waffle House today. My wife got the fish dinner and the fish was frozen filets like you feed your kids at lunch time. Her fries were nearly raw. The only thing good about her meal was the ranch dressing on her salad ( which had wilted lettus). My son had buttermilk pancakes which were thick and "bready" and had no flavor at all. I got the garbage hash, a house specialty, it was supposed to have hash browns but it didn't. It had boiled, thick potato slices that were tasteless, combined with ham and veggies. It seemed like it was maybe heated on the grill to melt the shredded cheese. The two eggs were over cooked. Three barely passible meals. When we paid they didn't even ask if we liked the food, they couldn't care less. I will NEVER go back.

About Taco Bell

Taco Bell is a haven for Mexican delicacies such as tacos, quesadillas, burritos, nachos, and other specialty items. Owned by Yum! Brands, Inc. Taco Bell is one of the fastest growing American chains of fast food restaurants. The restaurant operates from 7,072 different locations which are mostly run by independent franchisees and licensees.

The background story of Taco Bell is interesting and inspiring for budding entrepreneurs. The fast-food brand is the brainchild of Glen Bell, who started his first food venture as a hot dog seller in San Bernardino, California. The year was 1948. After witnessing long queues outside a Mexican restaurant called Mitla Café across the street, Bell saw the opportunity and demand for hard-shelled Tacos. He reverse-engineered the recipe and later started selling Tacos and called the venture Taco-Tia.

Later, the name changed from Taco-Tia to El Taco. Eventually, Glen Bell sold the company to his partner and opened the first Taco Bell in Downey in 1962. By 1964, the restaurant also got its first franchise in Torrance. The 100th Taco Bell restaurant was opened by 1965. PepsiCo acquired Taco Bell from Glen Bell in 1978 and the restaurant brand is currently a subsidiary of Yum! Brands which looks after the restaurant business of PepsiCo.
