Hard to beat La Tormenta when it comes to Mexican Food in Cache Valley. The bisteca is on point.

Totally decent Mexican for Cache Valley (still nothing compared to Red Iguana, but what is?).. They are CHEAP! Lots to choose from! OPEN ON SUNDAYS! The lady at the counter assured me that the beans and rice were vegetarian. I got an enchiladas plate with white cheese and corn tortillas, and it was pretty good. Hubby got a vegetarian burrito and it was HUGE! I like the condiment tray they bring out, especially the pico de gallo, and the caramelized onions! I will return again for sure.. I'd like to try out the other menu items they have for gluten free and vegetarian options.

The girl who took our order was rude and seemed very annoyed that we didn't know what we wanted upon walking in. We then proceeded to wait for thirty minutes thinking it was getting ridiculous how long it was taking for a burrito and nachos to come out. Finally the girl at the counter noticed us and asked if we had been waiting a long time. Turns out they lost our order as we were informed when she finally brought us our waters. Then she comes right out with a burrito and just as I'm about to start cutting it she comes back and says she gave me the wrong thing and asked me if I'd touched it. She took it back to the kitchen and then walked out and gave it to a guy who had just come in and ordered. When the food finally came out we were less than impressed. The refried beans had good flavor but the carne asada was chopped so small it was practically the same texture as ground beef. Also, the rice is flavorless. When we paid we were pleased that it was cheap. It should have been free since they lost our order and we were there for an hour. Needless to say we won't be back.

Pros: inexpensive, friendly staff Cons: food quality is right for the price, long wait for a simple order. Incredibly crowded. Decor is outdated and trashy. Not the worst, probably better than most in the area. I am admittedly spoiled by amazing mexican restaurants back home in Sacramento. Would I eat here again. Sure.

Honestly, I was expecting more... I'm visiting out of town... I tried the smothered burrito and just a little more flatter and it would've been a quesadilla. The steak was not great either, it was more like it was broiled steak as opposed to real BBQ steak. Oh well!

This is wonderful place for Logan Utah. The Mexican food is pretty authentic from what I know of. I love the carne Asada plate smothered burritos and their dollar tacos.

We walked on thinking that we were at super burrito, finding out that they went out of business and la tormenta rook it over. First off. Food was cold and taste horrible, and we has to sit there and watch spanish tv, and my blood sugar was low so i was going to make a purchase from the rack of snacks they sell while i waited for my food. Low and behold, everything on the rack was in spanish. This is america. We speak english here and not everyone can speak spanish or understand it. Horrible food . Dont go there.

La Tormenta best authentic Mexican food in Logan. This comes from a guys who has lived in south west region for more than 15 years. When you eat in a restaurant where the majority of people eating in there are this ethnicity you know its legit. Elpastor and Carne Asada are as good as I ever had. Not to mentioned the price for the quality is unreal. You have to go!

Probably the best authentic Mexican in Logan. I love the super burrito and carne asada plate. Also they have awesome homemade salsa

We got our food to go and it was honestly some of the best Mexican food I have ever eaten! Delicious flavor, food was fresh, and the service was relatively quick. Great prices and large portions. I got the chicken chimichanga and my husband got fresh steak tacos, both of which were delicious.

Unless you like really spicy, this place is not for you. Everything was really bland and the only sauces they had to give it flavor were super spicy. Will not go back.

Food: The food here is delicious! Not too greasy, and they've got an assortment of unique foods and flavors (you can get cow tongue!). I highly recommend the sweet pork. If you eat at the restaurant, they will also bring extra sauces and vegetables to the table. Word of warning: if you're picky, ask what is included in the dish, as the menu items have no detailed description. Price: All prices are pretty reasonable. Atmosphere: Not the greatest. Slightly grungy, bright lights, everything written in Spanish, but still comfortable once you get used to it.

You couldn't ask for better Mexican food in Logan, UT. This is definitely authentic. It's just like small joints that I've eaten at in Mexico. The food is great. Carne Asada tacos are the best. And it's cheap too, except for the horchata.

Authenic well made Mexican food, the best I've enjoyed in town so far. For six bucks you get a great meal from a very nice family. Try out your Spanish on them and they appreciate you more.

This restaurant is the Gem of the town. I stopped here because of the reviews of my fellow yelpers. A BIG THANK YOU TO ALL! This place is as good as everyone says. Their carnitas are killer, and the tamales are delish. I ordered the carnitas enchilada, served with rice and re-fried beans. The only complaint I had with the dish was that I was unable to get black beans instead of the re-fried beans. But the enchilada made up for it. Wow. I will have a cray-cray for another one in a few days. I hope to make it back here in a few months on my way to Jackson. SERVICE: 6/10 AMBIANCE: 6/10 FOOD: 9/10 PRICE: 9/10 UNIQUENESS: 8/10 OVERALL SCORE:76 Service: Graded by the "Keep my cup full principle". Ambiance: Pretty self-explanatory Food: A high food score does not always indicate it is a place for foodies. It is weighted based upon the establishment - thus bar food can receive a high score Price: Price is graded based upon what I believe is fair value for the food you are receiving. Holy Crap. Who gave this restaurant 4 stars. They must be drunk. It's a shame I have to give it one star. I'd rather give it none. There is only one restaurant I've eaten at my whole life worse than this. The service wasn't terrible, the place seems clean, the people were nice but the food...holy mackerel...the food was awful. 24 hours later I'm still suffering from the over cooked beef enchilada. It's been 14 years since I've lived in Logan so I don't know which Mexican restaurants are good any more but I'm honestly telling you...this one is awful...do not go there. I wish someone would have written this for me. BTW, does La Tormenta mean "The Torment" in Spanish? If so, it fits.

Favorite Mexican food in all of Cache Valley. Carne Asada plate is one of my favorites.

La Tormenta is one of my favorite places in town, and I return to it again and again. A full review and the complete menu are available on my blog... Authentic tacos are $1 each and are available with many choices of filling, all topped with a pile of cilantro and onions. My favorite are the carnitas (sweet shredded pork) and the chorizo (spicy pork sausage), while my husband goes for the asada (steak) and the lengua (beef tongue). Tortas, the carne asada plate, smothered burritos, and tamales are other good choices. A paleta (ice cream bar) from the freezer case - coconut and creamy strawberry are my favorites - completes the meal. Our most recent, filling meal was $18 for three adults and two children. The menu is not available online, so I photographed it and put it on my blog. Follow the link from my Yelp profile.

It's not bad for logan! There pico is amazing, that's if they actually give it to you when you do take out. (you have to make it very clear you want a side of pico or they wont give it to you) There rice and beans are good. My only complaint is probably the meat sometimes its good but sometimes every other bite is eating a piece of gristle which after awhile makes me sick to my stomach and not want to eat it anymore.

Prices are okay but the food was very bland. There is definitely better Mexican food at other places. Especially down in Salt Lake.

I went there several times for the chicken chimi (yum) but the last time I went there I stopped there on my lunch break hoping they wouldn't be busy luckily they were dead. Even though I was the only customer sitting in that place I had to wait an unbelievable amount of time just to get my drink and chips brought to my table. They even served a couple that walked in a good 30 minutes after I had already ordered before they brought out my chimi. I had to go to the counter and ask how much longer it was going to be before I even got my drink. When my food finally arrived (once again after a couple who arrived much later then me) my chimi was burnt and barely edible. I was actually embarressed I put up with the terrible service after I was given such crappy food. Luckily the prices are low so I wasn't out too much, although I was over 30 minutes late from lunch that day.. why was I willing to wait so long? Because I was so looking forward to a good chicken chimi only to be given little more than garbage.

Best authentic hole-in-the-wall Mexican taco shop in town. And I say that with love. Having lived in Mexico, I can say this is authentic. You walk in and they are selling jewelry and phone cards to Mexico, and purses and perfume and Mexican candies, etc. The food is inexpensive, good, and what you'd expect to get in any small town in Mexico. Carne asada tacos (or head or tongue if you'd prefer). Enchilladas, chile relllenos, aguas de tamarindo, horchata, etc. It's a sit down place, clean, usually busy (compared to the other similar Mexican diners of this size that have stayed in business no more than a year).

Great hole in the wall mexican food...carne asada is all I ever get...my buddies and I call it getting "tormented" in a good way...

This is a welcome addition to the Logan foodie scene. The Mexican food is terrific, fresh, and very cheap. This place isn't long on atmosphere, but can easily be your favorite taqueria. And Logan needs a favorite taqueria! The burritos and enchiladas are especially good. If atmosphere matters to you, get take out.

  • Brian G.

Fantastic authentic Mexican food. Where else can you get a carne asada burrito, with a side of rice, along with pico de gallo and their amazing green salsa all for $2.99?

  • Nate K.

Decent street food in Logan, you say? Yes, it's true. Solid cabeza, lengua, and kickass adovada! All things relative, it's in my top-three Cache Valley eateries. You can't go wrong with three or four tacos and a horchata to wash it down. Ever. Super cheap, super casual, just like a taqueria should be. Salsa rack is plentiful. Needs: Beer. Everytime I'm there, my Negro Modelo lustmeter spikes. Warning: Gringo patronage high, though staff surprisingly tolerant. Pleased that some of CV's more insulated (both mentally and physically) individuals seem to be enjoying the place and giving it their money.

Everyone in Logan says this place offers the best Mexican food. Wrong, wrong, wrong. Food is barely average. The seating is like an old McDonald's--hard booths, some hard chairs at tables, zero atmosphere. Order and pay at the counter and then get your food when it's ready. It comes in baskets. Could not be more gas station fast food-like. Save your money, even though their proves are quite low. Cafe Sabor is much nicer and the food is far superior!

Maybe I've been too spoiled by California Mexican food. This place wasn't bad, but it definitely wasn't my favorite either. Their salsa is ok, just not what I was expecting after all the good reviews and one of my professors saying this was the best Mexican in town. The cheese in the enchilada I had had a weird rubbery texture, and my boyfriend wasn't impressed with his burrito either. Might give it another chance, I was really hoping this would be a really great spot. Bonus star for the awesome prices.

Their huevos rancheros is to die for!

Authentic Mexican food! This place is a tiny hole-in-the-wall with surprisingly good food. A bit on the spicy side for me, but my sons loved it!

Great, cheap, REAL mexican food! Plus mexican cokes, candies, and snacks! The burritos are not my favorite but the Tacos and Tamales are fantastic!

This is my favorite Mexican restaurant in Cache Valley. Very authentic. Very clean. Stellar food. Great prices. Try the beef tongue tacos. Wash it down with a big can of coconut water. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

My wife ordered something that was completely indedible, I would not recommend this restaurant, when they say authentic in other posts they aren't kidding, and that isn't really a good thing. Didn't seem to hold up very well to basic American standards as far as tossing in pieces of chicken that haven't been trimmed, etc.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
