I went to Rumbi Island grill recently because I won three free meal tickets to eat there at a christmas party! Yay for free! They have a varied menu with a decent price point. The food is good, but not remarkable.

The food is inexpensive and tasty. The service is always friendly and quick. It's nice that we don't have to travel far to get a taste of the islands and have the food be good.

I like the food, even though I only had two different items so far. I recommend the Volcano Salmon, it's a quick and pretty healthy entree. Atmosphere is casual, service is fair and employees are o k, I mean as good as your gonna get from minimum wage employees. Overall this place is good (3 stars), nothing to rave about.

Was looking for a dish with peanut sauce. The Bali Island option can be chosen with a variety of meat options. I got a rice bowl with pork. It was tasty but could have used more peanut sauce. They only give you once small dipping cup. The staff was proficient but no smiling and she quoted my order back to me wrong. Luckily the electronic order was correct and the cook got it right.

The food here does not justify the price. I feel like everything tastes about the same, and while it's not awful, it's not very good either. The several times I've been here, I felt like the cashier was quite rude, but at least the girl that has brought us our food both times was nice. The decor here is also very nice and definitely gives a Hawaiian feel. Not bad food, but it really lacks variety, especially the rice bowls and salads.

Totally honest sandwich critique review. Atmosphere is great, love the decor, clean, service is fast and friendly, and there are some good menu items. However, for the quality of food you are getting, which isn't great but not bad either, it just doesn't match the price you're paying. Overpriced in my opinion for the quality. Zupas has far better quality and better prices. If the 2 meals were $10 I'd increase my stars, but it ended up being $18 and that was without drinks. Overall, it's alright.

The only thing to get here is the blackened salmon with Rumbi Rice. It is so delicious and i promise you will not regret it. The mango salsa is delicious and the salmon usually is pan fried perfectly. The ceasar salad tastes great but the dressing is a bit strong and lingers in your mouth for hours. Service is always good and the restaurant is clean.

This has been a great place to grab lunch. Love the steak rice bowl with jamacian jerk! The staff here is very friendly, and the restaurant itself is very well kept and clean. It's always nice when go into an establishment and feel cozy and at home. I will definitely be a continuing costumer

Love the chicken teriyaki rice bowl. I'll be honest haven't tried anything else on the menu.

This location offered me similar experience in their other locations, as there were nothing in particular stands out among them. The dining room is a bigger than their downtown SLC location. Service can be a bit slow during lunch hours, and they have mixed up orders before. Their rice bowl is definitely the best thing to get here. I tried other things like salad, sandwich, and soup before, but they are seems pretty average except for the soup, which depends on the day. I usually go for chicken and pork for my meat, the chicken could be a little dried without the sauce, and you could substitute other meat in place of the steak and chicken combo such as tofu or pork. As for the sauces, I like the spicy Hawaiian Teriyaki and Jamaican Jerk, neither of them are spicy at all, in fact, I tasted an overwhelming sweetness in them, but the flavor is decent. I always have to spice things up with Sriracha and it is a good thing they have that available. For rice, Rumbi rice is too sweet for me, so I would go for White or Brown rice depending on how much carb I needed that day. Overall, I consider Rumbi a place that provides quick fix when you are hungry for rice, especially if you are Asian, just don't set your expectation too high.

been here way too many times now! It's became one of my fav lunch places in Layton. I love love love teh guy who works here. He's so accommodating and the staff is awesome . I literally went here for lunch two weeks straight, every single day, except for Sunday which they are closes. I love their bowls, Overall their chicken veggie bowl is my favorite but if you are in the mood for fish, the mahi bowl is also great!

If you like big portions at great prices, this is not the place to go. Good flavor, and I enjoy eating here, but I've had salads that were just as good for less. $9 for chicken, lettuce, tomatoes and dressing is more that I want to regularly pay. I enjoy the Voodoo Chicken salad, but I preferred their Caribbean Chicken salad - which they no longer have. My friend likes to get their Chicken & Steak Teriyaki Rice Bowl - which is good. I think my favorite "sauce" is their Jerk sauce. I really enjoy their mango salsa with their chips, but they've gotten skimpy on the salsa portion. I always have to order extra (which they charge more for - at least for the to-go orders, they do). The salad portions are bigger than the rice bowls if you're looking for more food and the one time I had their burger, I was very disappointed. I don't recommend it, but the sweet potato fries were very tasty and properly cooked - their fry sauce isn't too bad either. All in all, it's good, but not great.

I love Rumbi. The food is good, the prices are reasonable and they're always nice to us when we go in. The one in Layton is in a good location, too. Close to Ross, Super Target, Toy's R Us, and a lot of other stores. Great for a date!

I love Rumbi!! We wanted to try Big Sais... They closed at 7 pm and it was 8pm. :( That's ok, we went to Rumbi! I really like their rice bowls, but their Voodoo chicken salad is also DELICIOUS!! Everything has always tasted fresh and cooked right. No complaints. I love zucchini in dishes like this. It makes things awesome. Jerk or teryaki sauce is a win win situation. I also tried their chips and salsa for the first time! MMM. Fresh hot chips, fresh made tropical salsa. It has chunks of mangoes and pineapple. My only sort of complaint was it could have been just a bit spicy, but it was still very good. We rolled ourselves out of there felling very happy. Maybe they put crack int he food. I don't know. But I've always had great experiences there. And even though its not a full service restaraunt, the girl that took our order and brought it out to us was SO nice. She even got our silverware and refilled our drinks for us. I didn't expect that, but very much appreciated it!!!

Rumbi Island Grill is a great place to have lunch. I prefer getting their rice bowls over their sandwiches, but that's just me. Everytime I've gone the rice, meat, and vegetables have been cook very well, so there's no issue there. The one problem I do have is that their spicy sauce isn't spicy at all. I find it to be barely noticeable. However, they do provide some Sriracha Chilli sauce which makes up for it. On a side note the food here seems to be quite healthy. Their half chicken bowl has 500 calories, 6g fat, 77g carbs, and 34g of protein. The food isn't overly greasy or fatty and is just what my body needs when working out and I don't feel like crap afterwards. I prefer their Hawaiian Teriyaki Chicken or Pork with white rice. If I want it spicy I just add some sriracha chilli.

Rumbi Island Grill has some good items and is starting to do variety on a limited time rotations. My family likes to go here every so often, with coupons mostly, and have a simple tasty meal. My wife likes the rice, vegetables, steak, and chicken plates. She usually gets the jerk sauce with her meal. I enjoy the pork sandwich and some of the limited items that they offer, and most of all I really like the sweet potato fries that come in the Rumbi fries side of my meal. We have eaten here and the one in American Fork and they are all about the same and a great cheap meal when you do not want to cook.

I spent a week in Layton and ate here 4 times total for lunch and dinner. I'd never even heard of this chain. Everything I had was fantastic and really fresh. Next time I travle I will be on the lookout for one of these.

Ehhh, the food is good but not great, the different sauces taste oddly similar to each other, and it always seems to take longer than it should to get your food.
