This isn't my favorite Mongolian grill, but it's up there for sure. It's conveniently located and beats driving to Ogden (for me) for other Mongolian options. At first, they had more focus on the menu, but now it's mostly about the all you can eat. Which is really fine by me considering it's their best offering. They have a variety of meat and vegetables, some seafood, and great sauces. The only problem I run into is the table service. I understand you can't expect full table service at a place like this, but it seems like that's kind of what they want to do. Except I've always had to wait a long while, even when it isn't busy, for simple things like chopsticks and water. This really is a great place though. The food is quality and it's never boring to watch the cook do his thing. Do him a favor and leave him a tip!

Husband ordered General Tso chicken. I chose to go with the all you can eat Mongolian grill. They had a good selection to choose from. The grilled food was ok. I did find bits of food from others who was being cooked near mine. Also, it was a bit overcooked, on the verge of burnt on some of it. My husbands General tso was not very good. We have had better off of buffets. The staff was friendly. And service was good. Just not a fan of the food.

Okay so I have always been skeptical of this place! My friend got a job here so i decided to try it.. I'm thoroughly impressed.. The presentation was great and the price unbelievable! This place is a definite must try!!

I've never been disappointed here! Great food and chefs with a sense of humor. I love the veggies here!

We have been to this place at least 10 times and I will have to say I will not be going back. We had the worst service and it seems like they were really bothered to even Seat us. There were plenty of places to sit here but they put us at a table with a husband and wife and a baby that was grand most of the time and there was no separation between us. We ask for refills on her drinks five times and never got them. The soup was cold. this could've been a good place but the customer service is severely lacking

One of the most amazing places to eat in Layton. Getting the buffet is my go to. They cook right on the spot, from fresh frozen ingredients. Takes all of 1-2 minutes max. Good is beyond divine as well. I always get 1 bowl of chicken and beef, and one bowl of noodles, with peas and corn, all topped off by teriyaki sauce! Highly recommend!

Was unable to try this place. Even though their homepage says "Free Delivery!!" when I called to place my order, was told they do not deliver.

Love this little treasure trove of bad ideas. Totally questionable food safety practices but gahhhhh it's good!! This place literally was a deciding factor in me moving back to Utah. Without Mongolian I'm just not the same person. Where else can you get all you can eat lamb and a shit ton of random stuff cooked in 2 minutes with horrible customer service? Top of my list for places to eat in layton for cheap

Recently relocated to Layton, and have ordered from Mongolian Grill twice. Their delivery is fast and the servings very generous (we generally get 3 meals out of any single entree ordered). The Wor Wonton soup is delicious, and we have yet to be disappointed in the selection offered.

Is there a good Mongolian BBQ in northern Utah? Not that I've found. I'll start looking in Salt Lake City.

Good price , good food . They have a decent meat and veggie selection with two choices of noodle . The service is kind of absent which can be expected from a do it yourself place like this but they do keep your drink full at least .

  • Travis H.

Yum.. YUm... YUM! Oh wow. Delicious. The food is fresh and they have so many meat choices! The cooks and servers are awesome too! I love this place!

Reminds me of Fire & Ice in Boston. You pick your meats, veggies, noodles, and such and bring the bowl to the "chefs" to cook your food for you. Really simple process. Service was okay. All you can eat, but only took me two or three bowls to be full.

So decided to try this place after work as I love me a good Mongolian BBQ and this place hit the spot perfectly! There were several things that impressed me. 1. All you can ready buffet, where like a typically Mongolian BBQ you pick your meats, toppings and veggies only is all you can eat! Did I mention that this is an ALL YOU CAN EAT MONGOLIAN BBQ GRILL? Never have I seen this before and for the price it can't be beat! 9.95 for all you can eat is not a bad price at all considering places well known like fire & ice in Boston charge more for one go at it. 2. Staff was friendly, but not above average. 3. The place was clean during my visit. 4. The food tasted GREAT! One of the better tasting grills I've been to. This place would have received 5 stars from me, but a few things kept it from getting that prefect rating. 1. They accept all major credit cards EXCEPT American Express, which those of you who travel on your company's dime and carry an Amex to cover expenses, be warned! 2. Their Staff wasn't overly friendly just average, plus were slow on drink refills. 3. Place is definitely dated. While clean, it could use a face lift inside. Over all I'd go back and will if back in this area again.

During my last few visits, I noticed they started cutting back on what they are offering, and their price went up as well. Service reached a low... Aside from neglecting the tables, they will randomly shoving drinks on your table that you did not order, then attempt to charge you for it. For the ingredients, it seems like certain day of the week, they will replace string beans with more cabbage, most likely due to cost difference. The sauce area can be a battlefield after a long line, and sometime they even misplaced the labels. Be aware of an inexperience chef at the grill, sometime he does not cook everything all the way through leaving rawness in the meat or potential chance of food poisoning, or sometime he just burnt half of my stuff on the grill. All and all, they still cook everything through most of the time. Everything else seems to be the same. The servers will give you the same hostile poker face, almost like everyone that walks through the door owe them something. I guess there are no better alternatives in the area, which mean we will just have to put up with them even though we are paying customers.

The food was good but I had to not think about what I witnessed ... I am surprised this place passes a health inspection. While mine and 4 others were having their food cooked on the grill, the chef dipped a small pitcher into a white 10 gallon bucket under the counter into water which he then poured onto the food on the grill. This bucket was filthy on the outside and I could see a brown ring inside of it. His hand also dipped into the water. I hate to see how dirty that water is. Absolutely disgusting and I won't be back. I went to the Davis County Health Inspection reports found online. Their most recent report only had 1 violation ... that's surprising but they have been put on probation previously including failing on the pest, rodents, bug inspection at one time.

I eat here a lot and have always loved it. The all you can eat buffet is the only thing I've ever tried, comes with egg rolls, rice and soup along with the mongolian grill. Less money at lunch but at dinner they had some seafood choices to the buffet (shrimp & squid) which is lovely.

  • Deanna O.

All you can eat stir fry. Cheap and delicious. What more needs to be said? You sit down, order a drink, and decide if you'd like soup, rice, and an egg roll to accompany your meal. You pick what goes in your stir fry, you give it to the guy who cooks it up for you. Voila! With a soft drink, this cost around $10 - a great meal on a lazy Sunday afternoon. It was great!

We did the all you can eat stir fry bar. My food tasted great, however 3 hours later I was sick to my stomach with food poisoning. This was my first and last trip to Mongolian Grill.

  • Becky G.

This place was good! You can go make yourself a bowl as many times as you want, with whatever fixins you want. Everything seemed fresh, nothing was off. And the chefs were super friendly. The atmosphere was a little meh, but I'd go back!

This place is bomb. So good! go here for num-nums. Cheap price, friendly service, delicious! Dont use too much sauce tho. I over sauced my food!

  • Ashli C.

My husband and I always go here whenever we are in Layton. It is probably the thing we miss most after moving away. The BBQ is so good and they have so many meat/veggie/sauce options! The all you can eat BBQ comes with your choice of egg drop or hot and sour soup, a fairly large spring roll, and a large container of rice for the table. It's a great value!!! The guy that works the grill does cool tricks with your food and is very nice. I would give 5 stars, but the service can be very slow sometimes and they do occasionally burn your BBQ. When that does happen though we just get new food because it's all you can eat.

  • Doug H.

Great place to sit down and have a great meal. The food is delicious because it is put together by me and then cooked by someone else. I always leave here busting at the seams.

I was first introduced to Mongolian Grill about 5 months ago, but I've been semi- curious about it for at least a year now. I hadn't ever been to a frozen meat buffet style joint before, but I was pleasantly surprised. When I walked in, I expected it to be just another cheap Asian joint. And, though it was, it exceeded my expectations. My brother explained to me how things work; you just I up to the buffet counter, pick your meat, pick your veggies and pick your sauces. I normally have my wife order Asian meals for me because... Well, I guess you could just say that, for the most part, I think most of it tastes the same. So I how up to the counter, and just slip everything that looks good on my plate. Chicken, pork, onions, water chestnuts, broccoli... You know, the usual Asian routine. Then, I get to the sauce part and am completely lost! Until, that is, I'm informed about the recommendations they have posted on the wall right next to me. They have three different recommended combinations of sauces and, in the few ones I've been there since, I've tried all of them and they're all good. Particularly the third one. Right after the sauces, our make an about-face and hand your plate (or plates) o the cook directly behind you. (this is where my complaint is. That area gets way too crowded if there's more than 2 people getting food.) Since it's cooked right in front of you, there's not much of a wait. You sit down and get to enjoy your food. Which is... Enjoyable. I give this joint 4/5 stars because it surprised me. And I do recommend it. Also, you may want to note that Ben though there is a television on and running in the restaurant, I've never seen anything but Nickelodeon shows playing on it. The owner/worker's children must be the ones always there watching it. Not too big of a distraction.. It may even help out a little with your little ones too; keep them from being crazy and runnin amyl like mine tend to do.

The all-you-can-eat BBQ grill is the best option here--and it's fresh and has many choices of meats and veggies as well as delicious sauces. The meal comes with a choice of egg drop soup or won-ton soup, plus the standard egg roll. Save your stomach for the fresh grilled items. Service is so-so to non-existent, so don't plan to be impressed with that. A word on sauces--go heavy! I used far too little the first time and had to dress it up with soy sauce. I love the chicken breast meat with tons of veggies and sauce. A few platefuls of that and I'm stuffed. It's a great meal if you're looking for something cheap and somewhat healthy.

Great variety. Timely service. Good for large groups. You build your meal in Mongolian style so if you don't like it, it is likely your fault.

  • Chad F.

Really good food. A little intimidating the first time trying to figure out what you want to put in the bowl for the Chef to cook. But it is all you can eat so the second time around you start to get the hang of it. Really good food at a good price.

The grill is what this place is all about. I have never order for the menu and frankly don't even know why they have it. As has been said the staff is very average, except for one guy on the grill he really tries to make it fun with his mini plate tricks and he is always polite. The buffet is simple, meat, noodles veggies and sauce then cook it. It's fresh, fast and very tasty and best of all I make the way I like it. It comes with rice, egg roll and soup all for under $8 bucks. Great place for a Layton lunch.

  • Dustin G.

We went for the first time not too long ago and I thought the food was pretty good. The guy at the grill was great, and the servers were good. Because it was our first time we didn't know what to expect, there were no menu's and we didn't know if we were supposed to just get up and get started or wait for further instructions. After a while someone came over and we asked, but it would have been a better experience if it was more clear what was expected.

The Mongolian Grill is a great place for lunch for the price. As the other reviewer stated it has a good selection for what you pay. It is does have a Chinese menu as well that I have not tried, as Mongolian Grill is what you should eat here. The meal comes with white and fried rice as well as an egg roll. It is nice to mix your own stir fry and sauce to go with it. The wait staff is slim so it takes time to get more rice, drink, etc. The plates are taken fairly quickly when finished though. Not sure how dinner is there, but the price goes up a few dollars I believe.

I love this place! The prices are decent, and you get endless trips to the mongolian bar. Their egg rolls rock!

This last time I went to Mongolian grill there were a few things different from how I remember and then some things have changed. First off, the food from the grill is still good. The cooks do a great job of cooking the food, but if it tastes bad you're the one most likely to blame for not mixing ingredients and seasoning it correctly. The service was not great... a couple of people at the table didn't get any soup nor did they get a spring roll with the meal. I ordered the hot and sour.... and it was decent. The flavor was bland and it wasn't very spicy. I prefer the hot and sour at Guosu any day over this. The spring roll was disgusting.... The vegetables were undercooked and it was very bland. Overall the main course is great, but the service and appetizers are appalling.

The new Mongolian Grill, as far as Mongolian grill type restaurants go, can be a 4-star experience. $6.25 for an all-you-can-eat lunch is a great value, especially considering there are some particularly decent choices in meats (lamb and BBQ pork are best, including stir-fried tofu), two kinds of noodles, MANY choices in fresh vegetables, and 14 types of sauces. They go the extra mile to par-stir-fry or blanch particularly troublesome veggies were they served raw (broccoli, green beans, asparagus) so that every thing comes off the big Mongolian grill at an even doneness in a lovely white, wide-bowled plate -- a nice presentation. Almost any topping or ingredient you'd want for a delicious Mongolian-grilled meal is here and available for your selection. Proteins, starch and vegetables make a healthful, single-dish, well-rounded choice. However, with the Mongolian meal you also get soup (the ubiquitous Chinese Hot & Sour or Egg Drop), fried rice, and egg roll. The soup and egg rolls are average-tasting, standard Chinese take-out level fare. The stir-fried rice was very poor quality -- pasty-textured and a lot of broken rice grains. You can order off a full Chinese menu from the kitchen hidden behind the open grill area. If the accompaniments to the headliner Mongolian grilled meal are any predictor, the rest of the food is average or below-average Americanized Chinese restaurant fare. The Hispanic fellow working the griddle plate was professional and friendly, so no points off for him not being Mongolian *smile*. The other Asian waitstaff weren't particularly friendly, but they did keep our plates cleared even if water and beverage glasses were not kept topped. We were there for the Mongolian grill food, so as long as the person working the grill does a good job I am likely to be satisfied. Therefore send your tips and enthusiasm the way of the grill cook. Yet if they can get the overall service better this could be a five-star Mongolian-style joint. So why would I still give them 4 stars? Because the grill menu was REALLY good quality for the price and genre of restaurant. Certainly, for the benefit of readers of this review I dived on the gastronomic hand grenade by eating the Textbook Chinese American Combination Meal complements. I've worked to look past this quality gaffe so I could give this enthusiastic recommendation: Go straight for the Mongolian grill meal and leave the rest of the things they'll bring untouched. (Don't worry about what your mother or the hungry orphans in China will think.)

love this place but I am a fan of asian food :) .. it is your typical mongolian bbq where you load up your bowl and they cook your food. But the staff that cooks your food is actually very nice. And another plus is they give you fried rice No really fried rice that taste good. Wow it along with a bland egg roll and tasty egg drop soup come with the meal it was the best eight dollars I have spent for lunch in a while. And wait staff was very attentive .

I frequented this fine establishment after first driving past it and seeing it one day. i had to come check Yelp before i went, and upon reading the first review, I decided i'd better go give it a try. I went in on a Wed. for lunch, and was seated right away, went to the Mongolian bar and was pleased to see such a great assortment of items. the guys at the grill were really taking care of business. i watched as one of the guys stirring the food around on th grill (i think it was the Hispanic fellow from the first review) each time he'd scoop the food from the grill on to the plate, he'd do a little move where he'd throw the plate up in the air spinning it, then upon catching it he'd scoop the whole mound of food on to the plate with a single motion. i found my self hoping that he would be the one that took my food off the grill and was excited when he did his signature move and handed me my plate. The waiting staff was a little slow, but didn't really take away from my visit cause all i ordered was water, and i was really into the food. (Plus my tip had already gone into the jar belonging to my plate spinning amigo). i sat there waiting for about 5 minutes for them to bring me my check, and finally just walked up to the front desk to pay, the lady shuffled through some tickets and gave me my total ($6.75) and i was on my merry way with a belly full of noodles. (and other sundry items) I highly recommend the Mongolian Grill in Layton, go there, and you'll find yourself going back.

In the context of Mongolian BBQ's- this place is a solid 5 stars. Granted I wouldn't equate this to the best meal I've ever had, but for what it is (tacky restaurant in a cheesy strip mall location) it's gold. I really really LOVE the buffet style meal preparation, and this is coming from someone who loathes any and all buffets. But this isn't your family infested cheeseburger sliders and fries type of deal. The meat/fish was...so-so looking, but tasted fine and every other vegetable and noodle was visibly fresh. I love that you get to watch your food get made. (Everyone has mentioned the small plate tricks, so there's no need to elaborate) The best part about this place is you decide exactly what it is you want. I appreciated the all you can eat styling, because the best part of this place? It's CHEAP. I went back for seconds and my friend went back for fourths. We had fried rice, egg rolls, and all our buffet food for only $22.50. A lot of people had bad experiences with the service, but I didn't. Yes it was very brief, and sometimes a bit confusing, however I didn't expect much given the premise of the restaurant and how it works. Fried rice and egg rolls are edible, but really don't even compare to the greatness of that buffet. Unfortunately it's to far from Salt Lake to be a regular dining place, but my God it was good.

    K. It is what it is. Not super clean, not super organized, not really everything I could hope for in a Mongolian BBQ. But there are precious few of these open in Utah and sometimes one needs a fix. Pros: you choose amount of meat. Lots of veggies, meats, sauces Fried rice and eggroll with the meal. I'll be back, for nominal food, good service, and a belly full of health food and MSG.

I love to have lunch at the Mongolian Grill. It seems to be getting more popular, so the word must be getting out. This is one of my favorite kinds of food. I have have been there multiple times and have never left unhappy. Make sure you tip the guy at the grill, but don't waste your money on the wait staff. They seem to be slow and unresponsive. If you don't expect much from them you won't be dissapointed. It's just really good food. The best part is I get to pick exaclty what I want and someone else cooks it. I would give it 5 stars if they took the service up a few notches. Update: I went there again this week. It looks like they may have increased the number of wait staff. They still were not johnny on the spot, but I did notice an improvement.

Visited this place for the first time tonight. When we arrived, we walked in and the waitress motioned from across the room with a yell and a hand gesture to sit in a particular booth. When we sat, she proceeded to come right over and did not offer a menu at all. She basically said...drink....pepsi. After ordering the drinks she then with a head nod, directed us toward the grill. There were many options for ingredients for the grill. It was prepared well. After seated and with tasting my meal, I noticed that the seafood to have a very fishy taste, which in turn means it is not fresh. Every other part of the meal was ok. After finishing what I could actually eat, we decided to look at a menu, and when it was requested, the waitress said you want to see one now? We said yes to see what other options were suppose to be available to us. Then we had to call back our waitress to get our check. Never a smile or is there anything else I can get you. The place is not that clean. The grill was gross. I understand that there are things that have to be scraped off...but I think the burnt should not be left laying there for all to see. Needless to say, I will not return to that place and I was greatly satisfied with my BK cheeseburger after!

Me and my family come here at least twice a week! Me and my kids usually do the grill and my wife orders something different every time from their menu. We have never left this place unhappy. We use to go to the Lee's in Ogden but since we found this place, we never went back. Their grill offers a lot more selections and not to mention they have seafood during dinner time. The meal also comes with soup, rice and egg rolls. All the waitresses remember what we drink and our needs and are always so friendly. Overall the service, we have never had trouble with.

Go for the Buffet. Choose your own dinner. It rocks if you can figure out the sauces. Ask someone if you are unsure. We love this place. Best Mongolian in the state of Utah (charlie chows-2 stars in comparison).

Completely lack luster atmosphere... feels like you're eating in the food court at the mall. I tend to despise stark tile floored environments and this is no exception for me. The redeeming quality is the food and value. The all you can eat bbq is great and their menu also offers a variety of Americanized Chinese dishes, which I haven't tried yet as the bbq is outstanding. The selection of vegetables, meats, sauces and noodles rivals that of any Mongolian BBQ I have visited, and it always looks fresh. The only downside to the All-you-can-eat is if you are like most people, one trip through the line and you have more than you can eat already, and they will NOT let you take your leftovers home... such a waste! There should be a one-time-through option where you could take home your leftovers.

This place was just okay for me. Lee's Mongolian Grill in Ogden is much better in my opinion. My wife liked this place better than Lee's though. I do have to say, this place is a good value. It was around $8 a person for dinner.

  • Zachary W.

Pleasantly surprised by how flavorful the buffet was. Most buffets are not. Get the thinner noodles they fill you up less so you can shovel it in more. They have a Miriad of sauces. I particularly liked the squid and shrimp with the garlic and in-house sauce. 10 dollar dinner buffet, 8.25 for lunch. They also offer single dishes. No dessert. Really cool grilling chef show. Bring a dollar or two for that mans tip jar. Overall it was a great experience would come for lunch again. Apparently the woman's bathroom is filthy.

Horrible service! Waited almost 15 minutes for the waitress to come take our order. We just missed the lunch hour by ten minutes so we decided to order off the menu. She didn't bother to come back and take our order, instead she filled up a bowl of food for herself. I will never come back or recommend this place.

You grab a bowl, throw some meat in there, add the veggies, and then add the sauces. Give it to the guy to cook and you get to taste what you came up with. You choose the wrong combos and you suffer with what you chose. If you got the right combo, you enjoy a meal. Is it worth the risk? That is the beauty of a Mongolian grill. I came here for lunch with some co workers and I thought it was ok. I'm not a big fan of trying to figure out which sauces go best with each other. To master it I'd probably have to come here 50 times until I got the right combos. It is all you can eat but usually after one round that is all I can eat. I doubt I will come here again because I pay to eat at places that have already figured out how to cook dishes and know the best flavors to combine. Good experience though. One other thing is the meat is sliced thin so when it cooks it shrinks so my recommendation is if you want a fair amount of meat you should load up on it while it is raw.

This gets 3 stars not because the food isn't good, but their service is just awful. The all you can eat mongolian bbq really is tasty and the cooks at the grill do an awesome job. They aren't the problem. We have gone plenty of times. Probably close to ten since they opened. Every waitress we have had just seemed angry or just downright annoyed to be there. Getting a refill is like pulling teeth. Even for water. But there is one experience that stands out for me. The sign said they closed at 9pm. We got there around 8:15. Plenty of time to eat. I sat down, ordeted, got my first plate of bbq. At about 8:30, halfway through my plate, a waitress came up to tell me if I wanted another plate I neefed to get it then because they were closing up. Say what? All you can eat does not mean 2 plates. Its 30 minutes before YOUR posted closing time. Let me eat in peace! I will be out of here around 9, but don't rush me! Go for the food if you dont mind subpar service.
