Good place to grab some fried chicken or a quick meal. I ordered the 2 piece fried chicken meal for lunch. The meal comes with 2 dark pieces, a roll with honey butter, a corn roll, a side, and a drink. My total purchase came to $6.22. Pretty good deal for lunch. I started with the corn roll and it was good. I dipped it in the honey butter and than was delicious. I next dove into the thighs and they were smaller than most places but it looks like these guys trim them so there is not a lot of fat or gristle on the ends, which was nice. I thought the chicken was pretty good. The breading had a unique crunch to it but I thought it was too salty. The chicken underneath was good though. The pieces were nice and hot do I know they were cooked fresh and not sitting under a heat lamp for a long time. The roll was good, had a nice flavor, and was nice and soft. For my side I ordered the potatoes and gravy and the gravy was the best I've ever had, so delicious. This side was the best part of my meal, I would recommend this side to anyone. The gravy was creamy and was seasoned perfectly. I want to go back and order a large side of this.

If you ever find yourself near Layton, make a stop here! That's an order. You won't regret it. Best fried chicken in the state, hands down. They don't use a ton of seasoning, just a light breading which let's this juicy, perfectly fried chicken stand out on its own. The cheeseburgers are amazing, too. Expect a long line unless you're there when they first open. Long line=Food worth waiting for. Every fried chicken meal comes with a cornpone; a cute piece of cornbread shaped like an ear of corn. Fun to say and fantastic to eat. Go for the potato salad on the side. Made with love and served fresh. Be sure to save some room for a slice of banana cream pie. Dare I say, this pie rivals my mom's delicious banana cream pie. I only wish they had a dining room, especially since I'm not from these parts. You can always pick some up and have yourself a picnic on Antelope Island, not too far from here.

Similar to their Brigham City counterpart, this Maddox drive-thru has quality food at a great price. Whenever I am visiting my in-laws in Layton, I always end up waiting in this drive-thru. If there is one downfall it may be the wait, because of the limited space, you'll find yourself in a very small space with a lot of vehicles all wanting some of that home-made peach pie!

You know the kind of place that has great food and great service that makes the great food even better ... that place that really "hooks you up" every once in a while by tossing in extra food? This is that kind of place. Thanks guys an gals - you rock!

The potatoes where the best part of this Chicken eatery. Probably the only thing I would return to buy. The chicken was very very small & had the spice taste of shake & bake. The gravy was a very bland tasting gravy. The biscuits where ok just a little dry.

I love the skinless fried chicken. And the sides are very tasty. I'm lobbying for a second location in Farmington.

I worked at Maddox years ago so I was shocked at the horrible service and worse food. I got three pieces of dark chicken one of them was no lager then a quarter. When I opened a roll there was a black lump in it the size and shape of mouse droppings. When I spoke with the manager I was told "Sorry I can't make the chicken bigger and the black stuff is from the pan". I've seen when a pan peels not the same stuff!

Super good fried chicken. Maybe the best I've had. The chicken is always good quality. My wife loves the chicken sandwich and tenders. She also goes nuts for the chocolate cream pie.

The fried chicken is amazing, and the sides are equally as impressive. The fried chicken here is on par or better than any I've had elsewhere. the pricing is steeper than fast food chain equivalents, but the quality is worlds better.

I went to C & B Maddox last night. In my opinion the food was very bland. I stood at the window for a good 5 minutes before I was even acknowledged. I got the chicken tender meal and it tasted like a TV dinner. It seemed the staff was more interested in gossiping than helping customers.

I'm baffled when I go here and see people across the street at that other 'chicken' place. Do they not know they are defiling fried chicken everywhere by not going to C & B? They know how to do chicken. In the warm summer days, there isn't much that beats a few pieces of chicken & coleslaw. Don't get the chicken or turkey sandwiches. They are a bit dry - even with sauce on them. I suspect that the manna that fell from the heavens while Moses was in the desert tasted something like this. One suggestion - they don't put salt in the coleslaw. Ask for salt if you're getting it to go.

I love fried chicken. Absolutely love it. This particular establishment does a very good job. Pros: Acceptable pricing Large sized sides with meal deals Everything's tastes very good Cons: Sometimes the legs are kinda small When it is busy it's a pain in the butt to get in and get your food I can't think of any reason not to go here. It's good food. Just eat it fast or sometimes the chicken won't stay crispy.

Food was not so great. I had a two pieces chicken dinner that was disappointing after I heard so much about them but the people there are super.

These people know their fried chicken. It's crazy delicious and isn't overly greasy like some fried chicken can be. There's always a line and for the chicken, I can see why. However, their cornbread, rolls, and sides leave a lot to be desired. I've heard Maddox in Brigham City is crack-level addictive though.

lol the cornbread thingies from below is cornbread made in a cast iron pan shaped like little ears of corn. It's sweet. The chicken is made with corn meal instead of flour- great idea! sooo good and buttery tasting. Their potato salad should win awards. I don't even like potato salad, but theirs...aaaaaah.... I stuff myself with it each time we go. It's the only mayonnaise food i eat. I haven't tried any of the turkey there. We always get the 8 piece w/ 2 sides for $17. you also get cornbread, rolls, and honey. btw- the honey is creamy and delicious! I guess it better be coming from the Beehive State!

For some reason, I was expecting a sit-down style place and this is anything but. When I found there was no indoor seating, I walked back to my car, got inside and got ready to start it up and leave, but considering how nice of a day it was for February, I decided to eat under their little gazebo-type thing. Once I did make it back to the menu, I frankly wasn't expecting much. The good news is that it was better than I thought it would be overall, but the bad news is that I had fairly low expectations. One of the things I liked was them having Diet Mt. Dew, though the mix was not very good. I wound up getting a chicken strip combo, figuring to hopefully alleviate a greasy fried chicken mess all over my fingers and then remembering some of the reviews, wound up throwing in some extra fried chicken pieces anyway. Good thing I did as those were cooked spectacularly and if I ever do wind up going back here again (very definite maybe), I want to see how they do with thighs. The fried chicken wing pieces were by far the best part of what I got. Second best were the fries, at least the ones that were crispy. They are similar to the various Greek places in Salt Lake that have pastrami-topped burgers, to give you an idea, though the flavor is a bit different, probably due to the oil they're cooked in. They give you an awesome amount, as in an unbelievable quantity and the cornpone I thought they didn't give me initially as it was entirely buried in fries. There were more fries than everything else probably put together in the combo meal. Unreal. The chicken strips were very flat, almost as if they had been pounded in a schnitzel style. They weren't big enough to be actual schnitzel pieces, I wouldn't say, but that was the general idea. They were somewhat dry and the ranch (again, think those aforementioned Greek places) and Bullseye (!) BBQ sauce sauce cup were not enough to really ameliorate them. The roll was a throwaway and the cornpone thing wasn't really worth eating, either. The price of even my extended meal wasn't too bad, still coming in at under $10, so if there is a saving grace, it is that. Definitely, though, heed the advice of all the other favorable reviews and definitely stick to the fried chicken.

I go here from time to time and really like the flavor. I'm puzzled by the size of the chicken pieces they give you. I've never seen chicken this small before. We're talking Cornish game hen size! Same taste but smaller portions than the original Maddoxx up the road.

Delicious chicken! We got the chicken, chicken tenders, rolls, cole slaw, kids meal cheeseburgers, and a slice of strawberry pie! It was all delicious! Their chicken was perfection... The slaw was creamy, the fries were similar to Wendys, and mashed potatoes and gravy were said to be so good, but I didn't sample them or the Pie. The kids didn't love the tangy relish sauce on their burgers. The only complaint was they needed more seating and when we went to leave, the people waiting at the drive through were blocking our way to back out. It is not a sit down type restaurant.

Overall, not as good as it's big brother up North, but the turkey steak is definitely worth the 5-10 minute wait. Soda usually taste a little funky. Eating at the outdoor tables is fun in the warmer weather.

I finally made it down to this little drive-thru joint one day for lunch, part of the reason I never made it down there was lack of indoor seating area for group, especially during winter. My first impression of the place is their confusing menu. Perhaps I ordered the wrong thing, or the worker just did not sell it right to me. I went with the new special grilled chicken sandwich combo. The sandwich was rather a simple sandwich as it was just bun with a piece of grilled chicken plus a fat layer of mayo. The chicken's flavor was somewhat bland actually, definitely not impressive as other claims. The fries were probably the most decent thing in the meal. My first experience with Maddox was not very good, and the woman over the speaker was not very nice as well, perhaps I need to come back and try their fried stuff, but it is highly unlikely I would return by myself.

Chicken chicken....where's the chicken? These chickens are Holocaust chickens if ever I saw one. They are tasty for sure with the cornmeal coating, but the smallest pieces I've ever seen. The chicken sandwiches do leave something to be desired. I only had to order it once to learn that. The sides are very tasty as they are made from scratch. The potato salad is a mustard version With eggs...very tasty; the coleslaw is just fair; the fries are always good, ( And it's only fitting that a local restaurant give you fry sauce when you order fries because wasn't fry sauce invented here?); the corn though is just frozen corn on the cob; baked beans are pretty good; mash potatoes are real and tasty but I can't remember if the gravy is decent. In a meal deal you always get cornpones "cornmeal cakes" and rolls with little containers of yummy honey butter. Also they give you wet wipes for your little sticky greasy fingers. But not too greasy because there is no skin on the chicken. Lastly; there is no inside seating and the outside seating is very limited unless you want to sit on the grass.

Fantastic chicken, skinless with a cornmeal crust very tasty. The roles and corn pone are very good but not as good as the endless basket of oven fresh warm goodies at the Restaurant in Willard, but this is fast(ish) food. I wish they had more/better side options but otherwise this place rocks.

They have great food, but the service is bad, bad, bad! Called in an order and had to correct them at pick up. Still got it wrong. Took it back and clarified the order, got back to the car again and it was still wrong and had to take it back again. They were very slow in taking care of it. In other words, it took an hour and a half to get the right order we called in. The food is good, but to much effort to get what you want. They should have at least one adult to supervise.

Maddox chicken is a different eating experience. We come here every so often when coupons come out in the mail. The chicken is skinless with a light breading and simple taste to it. The drive through can be difficult as it is sometimes hard to understand and catch the order taker. The chicken meals are pretty good, but the dark meat pieces are smaller than KFC. Rolls and fries are pretty good and they provide a good quantity of honey and fry sauce accordingly. I do say that the breading on the chicken does grow on you, but is different the first time you eat it. Really this is a good chicken place that has some good and not so great sides. As an overall eating experience it is 3, but the chicken is a 4 (just need some bigger dark meat pieces).

Tony go back and skip the chicken sandwich, get the fried chicken. Maddox in Brigham has been famous for decades (opened in '39) and fried chicken was one of their specialties. It's skinless and the breading is thin and delicious! I also love that they have white gravy rather than brown and their fake potatoes are much better than KFC's fake potatoes. What's better is to mash your own potatoes at home and just go get the chicken and gravy. Oh yeah, they give you honey butter to go with the cornbread thingies - mmmmmmm!!!!! My Tip-of-the-day is to skip the long line at the drive thru. Park on side of Main - there's plenty of room - and go to the front window. The drive thru is not remotely fast and you can end up sitting there for quite awhile if there are more than a couple of cars. There's no shelter at the front window so it may be worth the wait at drive thru if the weathers bad but otherwise that's what I do. Prices are pretty much the same as KFC and the chicken and other sides are way better.

I found Maddox's on the way to Wal-Mart and decided to give it a try. Although very basic in terms of presentation and menu selection, Maddox's does not disappoint. Considering the fact that it is located directly across the street from a KFC, I think it's a no brainier if you're in the mood for fried chicken. I got an eight piece chicken with two large sides, and three dinner rolls and cornbread "thingies" (they looked like lady fingers but tasted like cornbread) for my brother, his friend, and I to share. For approximately a little over $17, it was a bit steep for fried chicken, but if you want something that is not factory made I guess it comes with a premium price. My only complaint about the food would be that the mashed potatoes tasted like a mix, but once you put the white gravy on it, it tastes pretty good. The seating area isn't exactly conducive to a quiet dining experience, but I think the idea of the whole experience is to pick up the chicken and eat it at home (unless views of Main Street traffic are your thing). It's not exactly mind blowing but you get what you pay for at Maddox's and that's good fried chicken.

My family loves the chicken here! They also have the best fries around. The pies are handmade and the sandwiches are divine! I love the mashed potatoes and love the chicken gravy. It can be a little slow to go through the drive-thru but it is really worth the wait. We will keep coming back!

Pretty decent chicken very different from KFC chicken the portion in chicken was a little off as they were small but all in all a fair meal.

This is our favorite fried chicken place. The skin is removed and thus some of the fat. Yet it is still extremely tasty and the cornmeal coating gives it a nice crunch. The ranch dressing for the green salad is so good that I always order a big salad.

This is not a low calorie proposition, so if you are on a diet, I would steer clear. The fried chicken was as good as I had been told, but I do wish I had tried some of their other interesting options. I suspect the chicken fried steak is even better. The rolls were outstanding, the service was nice, and the portions were generous.

The chicken was ok and nothing really to write home about. The mash potatoes tasted like instant with canned gravy. The colesaw was good. I rate this a 2 of 5 stars

I ate at the one in brigham city a couple times when I was a kid and forgot about it for about 30 years. I was visiting my brother on Halloween and we stopped in and tried it and I've probably been back about five times since. The chicken just has a plain panko breading on it but the flavor is incredible. It's not oily at all so I dont know if it's broasted or what, and I really dont care! just dont change the recipe!
