The one star is for the very nice waitress who tried to "fix a fracture with a bandaid" of a dinner. We saw the place from the road and as soon as we got out you could smell some smokey bbq smells. YAY! They had a large patio to sit on but we chose to sit inside as it was a little warm out. We waited about 5 minutes for someone to seat us, and when they did it was a rush to get to the table. We were not offered any specials or drinks. A waiter showed up after another 5 minutes and took our drink order. When he came back he took our order. As previous yelpers have mentioned, the upsells are CRAZY. Every part of your order has an upsell that goes with it. My husband ordered a ribeye, my daughter wanted a pizza with mac and cheese on the side, and I ordered the half chicken. We were pointed to the salad bar, which in all fairness was fresh and good. Now comes the 1 star rating. It took FOREVER for the food to come out and when the waitress, yes you never see the same waiter twice, placed our plates in front of us, my chicken was RIBS! I was so confused. I pointed it out just as the waitress was about to take off again. She said, "My order sheet says Ribs." I told her I didn't order ribs, I ordered chicken. She left the ribs and said to get started on that and she would get a chicken out ASAP. 25 minutes later, and my family is done with their meals, a different waitress delivers a half chicken to the table fried to hell and dripping grease. Not only did it look disgusting but it was not what the menu described. It was supposed to be bbq. To make matters worse, the chicken was as dry as sand and the seasonings they used were horrible! It was probably the worst chicken I have ever tried to eat. It took another 20 minutes for the waitress to come back to the table, and she didn't even bother to ask how things were. It was like she knew. She asked if we needed anything else and we told her no, and off she went! We didn't even get a chance to ask for the check. So we waited another 5 minutes and just walked up to the counter to pay. On our way up there, the waitress yelled out from the drink station, "Tell her to give you 10% off!" 10% off a 50 dollar food bill is an insult. Avoid this place at all costs! The service is only polite and attentive if they royally screw up.

Stayed in Kanab for two nights while visiting Bryce and Zion parks. We got here at 9p on a Monday night and was not served our food until 10p. I would think that for that much time, I would at least get something great. I got a fistful of fries and an undercooked steak that was not even fully edible. I get that it is Kanab, a podunk town with nada, but there are still other places to go.

Eww. Worst food of our trip. We came because we got tired of the other options in town, and we had a discount coupon. But it wasn't worth it. Poor service, lots of self-service which isn't explained, and poor quality on everything. Avoid if at all possible.

Made the mistake of not listening to the 2 star reviews. The worst service ever!! Average food. Didn't have a chance to try something else.

Decent menu, large outdoor seating area (an old parking lot) but pleasant at the end of the day once the sun drops enough to be cool. Good dessert brownie. Quinoa, black beans, tomatoes and chips is interesting.

Took a big group here last minute. 20 of us and they took amazing care with our party. Food was good, service was amazing. They treated us like family. Cody and Tiffany made sure we were all very happy, and everyone left laughing and smiling. Steaks were cooked a Tiny bit towards rare side. Add the 3 ribs for an extra 5 bucks. Tasty!

Frozen, dry hard ingredients. Pretty much describes what you're getting here. Ribeye with special sauce was offered. The sauce was some kind of mushroom dark gray gravy that had almost no taste. Ribeye was so freaking chewy...

Very long wait for mediocre food. Rather surly staff.

The restaurant was homey, and our waitress was really lovely. But the cooking could use some improvement. They were out of ingredients for their stir fry menu item. The salad bar was a bowl of iceburg lettuce with a bunch of pasta salads and a potato salad. We ordered nachos and a sandwich - and the nachos came covered with iceburg lettuce but no beans, which was weird.

Stopped in for dinner. My husband had ribs, they were awesome, sauce and rub were homemade. I had a wrap and it was excellent. We both added on the salad bar and our kids ordered chicken wings. Food was delicious, service was great, everyone was friendly. I will definitely stop here again. Really don't understand why this place has only 2 stars.

We stopped in here recently and after looking at the menu and it's sky high prices I was expecting a good meal, I was sadly mistaken. I ordered the chicken diner and my friend ordered some wings and since we were in a carefree mood we decided to order the bacon, cheese fries for 10.99! Yes 10.99 for fries. Ok we were expecting some really amazing fries for 10.99. They finally arrived after our waitress had to be reminded of our order and we were shocked by what we saw. The fries were on a regular sized plate and they were the greasiest fries you could imagine. If you wrung them out into a cup there would have been 3/4 of a cup of oil. And the bacon? They were bacon bits from a jar! Seriously bacon bits???? For 10.99 for fries there better be real bacon! Awful, just awful. The rest of the meal was bad too. Do yourself a favor and find another restaurant in town where they actually care about serving up decent food.

Sometimes when I'm in a small town, I just try out a place without doing any research. I figure the available information on the internet wouldn't provide a large enough sample size to seriously sway me. In this case, however, I looked it up on Yelp after the fact, and the warnings were there. Too bad for me. I figured the guy who worked at the hotel would know which places in town are good. It could be that bad food and bad service are just in the DNA here. My ill-fated adventure began at dusk, when I wandered in, and was seated at a table outside. The weather was nice. (If only the quality of a meal were determined solely by the weather.) Ringing through the air was the entertainment for the night, consisting of three girls singing karaoke. I guess they couldn't afford a band, or a troubadour, or anything. More likely, they weren't even paying the girls, and they had to split my tip three ways. After I ordered my medium-rare ribeye steak, the server, after an unsuccessful attempt at an upsell, informed me that I could help myself to soup, salad, and drinks. I wandered over to the salad bar, put a few pieces of dried out iceberg lettuce, spice-deficient kimchi, and cold garbanzo beans on my plate; noticed the soup selection consisted of merely chicken noodle soup that looked a little too much like it had already been eaten once before; and got myself a soda. Shortly thereafter, my medium-well ribeye arrived, a worse cut than any crappy Chili's steak I have ever had the misfortune of digesting. I probably would have been better off buying a steak at the local market, heating up my car, and cooking the steak on my radiator. The garlic mashed potatoes were uninspiring and had a strange texture. The corn was OK, but how do you mess up corn? And that's about it. I quickly paid and hurried back to my crappy motel. Ha! Did you think the problems ended with the bad food? You fool! After the bad steak, I got my check. With a 10% discount coupon I had, it was $20.16. More than a bad Chili's steak! Even more than a bad Outback steak! And the worst part is I sat there for was seemed like three hours waiting for someone, ANYONE, to take my stinking money so I can get out of that hellhole. I can only take so much pop country karaoke with a few Creedence songs mixed in. It's like they were taunting me, making me look at that bill while they silently laughed at the success of this restaurant hoax. $20.16. $20.16. I think it's safe to say that if I have to leave cash just so I can leave, the tip is going to be a little disappointing. The karaoke girls worked much harder for it. UPDATE: It seems the owner of this place, John Northrup, sought out my twitter account, and replied to one of my tweets with this: "really dude it sounds like your pompous ass should just stay home no wonder u eat alone!!!!" It appears as if he signed up for twitter just to berate me; if he put this much effort into making sure his customers were attended to, this review may have read much differently. At any rate, that tweet shows nothing but contempt for people who dine alone (which you typically do if you are traveling alone).

The place is dated and has all the charm and food quality of a 1970s Ponderosa chain steakhouse. Staff was awkward and inexperienced. Hosts were brusque and intense. Perhaps this was because we arrived after their third bus load of diners had departed. Still, we will not return.

Poor service. Poor food. Ordered the salad bar as an entree. Plates at the salad bar were the size of bread plates. Lettuce in huge pieces. Brown leaves throughout. Carrots the size of my thumb. Sliced beets the size of baseballs. You needed 3 or 4 plates to cut up everything and no way to toss it. Talked to mgr and was told she works 15 hour days and cannot find the time to cut up the veggies.

The atmosphere gave off a tourist spot vibe but the prices are good and the ribs delicious! They were smoking all of the meat outside. If you're looking for decent food at a good price in kanab... And let's face it there isn't much to the town, don't pass it up!

Kanab is a tiny town that is at a crossroads for visitors to the parks in Utah. That was the reason I found myself extremely hungry in kanab after a long day of hiking. Spurs was right next to my hotel, and it's exactly what I needed. The menu is fairly broad, but it's the ribs you want. They were absolutely finger-lickin delicious. The service was also friendly. I rolled back over to the hotel a happy camper.

I'm glad we didn't read the reviews first. They seem bad, but we quite enjoyed this place. It could be because of the phenomenal service from Tiffany, but also, my filet was solid and the ribs (and the bbq sauce!) were divine. We've not eaten in many places in Kanab, and we were just passing through on our way home from Las Vegas prior to checking out the Grand Canyon (We eat out a lot!), but honestly, this was not as bad as some have let on. Perhaps our experience was unique, but for as busy as this place was, the food was quick, salad bar was good, and again, I really enjoyed the down home feel and service. We live in Salt Lake where the AMAZING food abounds, but if you are in Kanab for whatever reason, give it a try and ask for Tiffany. We only gave 4 stars because it took a couple of minutes to get seated (Though we found out that the restaurant got about 20 more folks for a party than they were quoted as getting...) and it felt a bit chaotic. However, once we sat, we were not disappointed. The salad bar could have been more fresh, but we were there at 10 at night. This is an honest review. It's Kanab. I think it's worth a try. They treated the gays WELL.

My wife and I both ordered the filet steak with baked potato. For $30 I would expect an OK quality filet, not one with gristle. Medium rare varied widely between my steak (prett much medium rare) and my wife's steak (closer to medium well with thick char and no pink inside. After getting the side dishes wrong (the place was not very busy when we visited) my wife's baked potato seems to have spent far too long in the oven, it was tough through and through. For a dinner for two with a beer and tip coming to about $95, this place was a huge disappointment. The two stars are due to the good service we received from the wait staff, but the food quality is mediocre at best. The ribs were quite dry and very chewy as opposed to the fall off the bone you hope for.

On the positive side the Margarita was good! Everything else was poor... My girlfriend put a ton of hot sauce just to down the salmon (half of it). My porterhouse steak was poor cut of beef, it was tough with no marbling that I found. Two stars because of the male servers only, the girls acted like they had only been serving for a night or two.

I hat dinner here one night. I was staying at the Shilo Inn and Spurs grill is right across the parking lot plus a 10% off coupon was provided. I had the Ribeye steak and BBQ ribs special that the waiter (& I sense owner) was pushing hard. The ribeye was cooked correctly but was not that great a cut of meat. The ribs were about the same low quality and the BBQ was too sweet for my taste. One trip to the salad bar was included with the meal. Nothing special about that since it was mostly a iceberg lettuce feast. The service strayed to the unprofessional side of the equation including my waiter in the sleeveless t-shirt. One of the few saving graces were some Wasatch Brewery brews on tap. There aren't may choices for dinner in Kanab and this place seems to hit the bus tour rotation so be prepared for a crowd.

3stars for Ribs. The Beer I had was good (gold spike?) All I can give. Salad Bar was so so. Chopped Buffalo steak needed help (seasonings). Diced Red Potatoes seemed like they were from a bag.

The first night we stayed in Kanab, we noticed Spurs Grill next to our hotel, and thought we'd give it a try. From the outside, it looks like a fun, wild-west themed kind of place. We were seated in a back dining room, and although there was just the two of us, we were seated at a banquet table for eight. The waiter came to our table and remarked that he was very happy we spoke English. As we looked around, we noticed that many of the others in the restaurant were European tourists. We ordered a couple of local beers, and then ordered our dinner. I ordered a ribeye steak ($18) which came with a baked potato and a trip to the salad bar. My wife ordered a buffalo burger and onion rings. Her burger was overcooked as were her onion rings (very very over-fried, almost black). My steak was tough, unseasoned, grissled and flavorless. A very thin cut of approximately 1/2 an inch, this isn't what I expected in beef country. The salad bar was meager and picked through. While we were waiting for our food to arrive, a large party of approximately 25 people (another tour group, I'm sure) came in, and were seated in several tables. The staff seated four people at our table of eight (which we had absolutely no problem with). the group were young Italian tourists, and I'm sure they spent a large amount of money to come to the U.S. and see the Grand Canyon. It was fun and we talked a few minutes with them. our food arrived and we ate. As we were finishing up, a manager came to the table and apologized for seating the people at our table, and noted that she took 10% off our bill and offered to buy us dessert. I told her that it was no problem at all, not to worry. She asked if we still wanted the dessert and I said sure, what the heck. She then put the cost of the dessert on the bill. Amazing. I told her that there must be some misunderstanding, that I did'nt want the dessert if I had to pay for it. She took it off, I paid we left. I'd skip this place. The waiter was smoking out back as we left despite several tables needing his assistance.

I recently visited Spurs Restaurant over a couple of days (yes I liked that restaurant so much that I came back a second time during my short 2 day visit). It's now tourist season and yes it does get busy with the busloads of tourist that visit the area. The atmosphere is busy and during the time I was there multiple busloads of people came and all I can say was Wow, this has got to be the hardest working restaurant staff I have seen in a long time and they really kicked ass in a full house. Before I visited Kanab, and Zion National Park I usually read restaurant reviews before I go to a restaurant. I was surprised to see only a few reviews despite hundreds of people being served daily. On that note I had kept an open mind. I decided to ask the locals about Spurs and the consensus was it's a great restaurant with excellent food- they were not wrong. Now on to the food, the ribs were excellent and fell of the bone, I also had a rib-eye that was so tender that if I had false teeth I can remove them and gum my food. The Jumbo shrimp was also good. I also had a Turtle brownie sundae on the first day and strawberry shortcake the next both were da bomb. After reading some of the negative reviews and after I had eaten a few meals at Spurs this leads me to believe some of the reviewers were the type people that were cheap asses looking for a free meal. I also saw a review where someone complained about the staff having no experience and a waiter wearing a sleeveless shirt, come on really? Let's face it, had the restaurant staff been Hooter Girls there would have probably be no complaints.

Came here on the last night of our stay in Kanab. It has indoor and outdoor seating and there was live entertainment for those seated outside. Some of our chairs were dirty and we had to clean it ourselves and while I expected the service to be really slow, we didn't expect to be ignored. First we had to flag someone down to get us menus and utensils. Then we realized they didn't bring enough utensils and went searching for them ourselves. After about another 20 min we finally flagged someone down who got our server for us. I ordered the buffalo burger, which was pretty darn good. At the end of the night, we waited and waited and waited but the wait staff never ventured near us. Finally we just went inside and found out we had to pay at the register. I'm giving this place 3 stars because the burger was really good.

Being responsible adults inaugurating ourselves for a week on a houseboat in Lake Powell, we chose Spurs purely by location (i.e. we could walk across the street from our hotel, our happy hour spot!). I was pleasantly surprised at the hospitality, the service, and the grub. Yep, it was good grub. We were a party of 8, and they served us well, cold drinks, decent salad bar. Most of us had the ribeye and ribs combo, and it was great BBQ. Ribs fallin' off the bone, smoky flavorfully tender. The steak was cooked to perfection. Add some skewered shrimp and a potato and this was one memorable meal. If you are passing through Kanab, stop here for a hearty, delicious meal.

Have you ever had a time in the restaurant where the owner threatened to sent you to jail if you keep on questioning the bill? There you have it with the owner named John. I have never seen worst restaurant than this.

Disappointing. The nachos were not made with homemade chips and we couldn't find the mushrooms in the Portobello stir fry. Over priced for tasteless food.

Terrible food, sky high prices. Looks like a great joint, servers were very nice, but the prices for the food are not right for what you get. Chicken noodle soup was great but pass up the soup and salad bar, $10 gets you nothing except a basic salad with dressing, not even croutons to go on your salad, let alone the other choices you would expect for a $10 salad.

I wish I was allowed to give this place 0 stars. We were seated by one gentleman, and about half the patio was open. As soon we got seated a waitress comes running over yelling at us that we couldn't sit there over and over again. She told us she had a big reservation coming in and that we couldn't be seated for an hour. I told her okay, but she didn't have to yell at us. We were seated by an employee. And then she gets even louder and yells at us that she's not yelling. At this point the entire restaurant is staring at us. She walked away mumbling something and never once provided an apology that we had to vacate our our table or that she made a scene and was yelling at us when we were not at fault. I wish I had thought to get her name so I could tell management about her. She's absolutely the only rude person I've met in this entire town.

This place sucks and you should avoid. The food is not handled properly/unsanitary. The salad bar is lettuce from a bag and some potato salad from a carton from Sysco as is all the food. The staff (if you can call them that) consists of one dude like person in a sleeveless sweatshirt --ugh--and a couple girls that have no clue what they are doing. maybe his kids? the owner always tries to upsell your order...to get you to order bigger, spend more. ridiculous. the food sucks, the steaks are either brought in as the wrong order complete, prob because the owner keeps trying to pawn off other stuff and gets confused or they are just flat rare raw undercooked. the meat is not very good. these folks have absolutely no social skills and i am not real sure about food handlers permits as people maul through a package of store bought rolls at the salad bar. this place is a dump of a tourist trap. dont go here unless your only plan is to get drunk
