I have to agree with the other reviewers. There is nothing quite like finishing up a long trip in the Uintas with this drive in. Yes, it was a much better place back when it was Dick's. Times change unfortunately, but they haven't changed too much to not make it a lust worthy meal after much time up in the high wilderness. Usually a few days into a backpacking trip I start to have visions of this place. Would I ever eat here if I had not just been walking around in the woods for days eating nothing but granola? Nope. Doesn't matter to me, I'm giving them 4 stars for existing on the Mirror Lake Highway.

After a full year of coming to the uinta drive in for lunch I came to appreciate how truly mediocre the new managements food is. The only good thing to be said about this place the fact that they use real pastrami. I miss Dicks...):

Keep seeing poor reviews on other sites, but since we liked dicks so much had to try. Recommend for the over priced and poor service that you drive on by

Blah, too-thin sliver of a burger, like the frozen fast-food type, hidden inside a great tasting, fabulous bun. Counter kids were unfriendly robots. The place could use a good cleaning, too. I'll go again if i am desperate.

After 30+ years of positive experiences with Dick's drive in I rarely go to the renamed Uinta drive in, because they are often closed during normal posted business hours. Tonight I found them open and stopped in... Never again. A man who claimed to be the owner added items to our bill and then angrily harassed us telling us we had to pay, because the items had already started cooking. He was so rude all the customers in line behind us turned and left. He actually said, "Don't make me come over there". In addition, the cost was outrageous. Three hamburgers, three sodas, and six corn dogs (only three were ordered) totaled $43. Try explaining this kind of behavior to four small, scared children.

For a while i had begun to doubt my ability to judge a great burger. Most taste the same, and I found a few highly rated burgers to be quite gross. The delicious burgers at Uinta Drive In are absolutely delicious and have restored my faith in my own abilities. I DO know what a good burger tastes like, and this is it! Toasted Ciabatta bun is on point, just enough fixings to complement but not overwhelm. Perfectly cooked meat. Wonderful fries to go with. Looks like they have hired a magician to work the shake machine also, which is genius since that puts him right at the center of the action to work his magic on the place. Pretty sure he is an out of work magician but he may be doing some parties and kids events on the weekends. Probably just trying to get back on his feet again. Maybe has a couple big tricks he's working on and maybe he'll bust them out at the variety show at the Egyptian in Park City. At any rate, this place is magical.

Our go to stop in kamas. We really like the burgers on the square bun. Really fresh, lots of fresh toppings and he meat has a good taste. We really like the buns!! The shakes are perfect!

The BLT was awful. A meager amount of both shredded lettuce and diced tomatoes. Diced tomatoes?! That's just rude. The price for a cheeseburger combo was about $9. A little over priced for the quality. Freshness was lacking in all the items we ordered, especially, the onion rings. Such simple food shouldn't be that easy to mess up. The shakes looked good from afar. Perhaps we should've gone with a sugar overload instead of a sad sodium saga. Bummer.

Over priced and slow. However, that wasn't the most disturbing thing. While waiting at the drive through window, we observed a worker preparing hamburgers, without gloves on, WHILE EATING FRENCH FRIES! I'm not a health inspector, but in pretty sure you aren't supposed to be eating while preparing food. We will not be returning.

Everything about this place is great. Burgers, fries, chicken, shakes... It's a must if you live here or are just passing through Kamas to the great camping nearby.

If you want to wait 40 minutes for a shake, this is the place to go. The people in line two ahead of us received two extra vanilla milkshakes. The people in line just ahead of us were shorted two milkshakes. Hmmm. Wonder where the shakes went? The place is postage-size and one can see all the other customers, their orders, and lack thereof. We ordered some food and got that in about ten minutes. Meh. Typical fast food. It seems as though the child labor laws don't exist in Kamas. I swear, a nine-year-old took our order. One child (maybe 16) was cussing out the said nine-year-old for making the wrong shake for another customer. Sorry, but shouldn't young children be playing with other children? Perhaps it is a family-run business. I saw one adult there - maybe the father? We will not be returning.

It looks like something of a tradition now. Today I took what may be the hike that caps my High Uintas season for 2012, so it only feels right to update again. In nearly every hiking trip I take, I end it with a double bacon cheeseburger, fries, and a chocolate banana shake. This has been well documented and witnessed by many. But today went down a whole lot differently. I was late getting out of SLC and didn't want to delay any further by stopping for food or eating at home and delaying departure. So we - the Jane dog and I - got in the truck and didn't stop until reaching Kamas. Once we arrived in Kamas, I was hungry for some lunch. It was 12:30 and I could smell the food waiting at Uinta Drive Inn. To save time, I opted for the drive thru, which turned out to be a speedy endeavor. I know it's not always that way, but today was zippy. I didn't feel worthy of the normal order; that's reserved for post-hike hunger. So it was a simple double cheeseburger for me. Delightful as ever on their ciabatta. Not too messy, but just enough to warrant the extra napkins in the bag. This was new for me. A pre-trip meal. But it was nice. I wasn't too stuffed to hike, but had plenty of fuel for the trail. It was a spectacular hike today and the leaves were lighting up the highway.

Be ready to wait at least 30 minutes. For an ice cream cone. It's tasty but the people that work here are way too frazzled and unorganized to make it worth it.

Uinta Drive In (Dick's) is literally the gateway to Uinta National Forest, so whether you are coming or going, this is the place to stop for a bite to eat or an enormous shake. Our two shakes fed five people, but feel free to be greedy and keep it for yourself. K stuck with his go-to grilled chicken sandwich, while the ankle biters and I both ordered grilled cheese baskets. The beer-battered fries are a surprise. Somehow crispy and creamy at the same time. Fry sauce at every table. Coke products (score!) Funny sayings in the restrooms. Service is a bit slow so don't go in thinking your food will be ready by the time you finish paying. Worth the stop! Remember, it's all about the journey, not the destination, so make this place part of it! Support local!

We had an excellent experience at uinta drive in. First time we came here was 4 years ago; food was amazing (no doubt helped by having been eating back-packing food for the past week). Did the same 2 years ago; again, food did not disappoint, although they were busy and a little slow. I was a little worried after reading recent reviews, but came back this week after backpacking. I called and gave 5 mins warning that 26 hungry backpackers were on their way. This was our best experience yet. 26 bacon cheeseburger (many double) combos. and 26 shakes. Very fast, very friendly and appreciative. I also spoke with a friend who coincidentally also ate there recently and said it was very good; so it seems my perception of the quality of the food is not completely skewed by it being our first good meal in a week.

My hubby and I stopped here on our way up to the mountains and had a feast. These are no really small portions. When we got there it looked pretty dead with only one other patron but it soon filled up with school kids. The prices are pretty cheap and like I said the portions are big. The menu is pretty standard with bugers, sandwiches, shakes, fries and other drive in food. We ordered the Bacon cheeseburger, a Navajo taco , and a large fries. The burgers come on a toasted Ciabatta style roll that was soft all around but lightly crispy on the bottom. I was a little disappointed that they just slapped the cheese on there without giving it a chance to melt at all. The Navajo taco is a mound of taco style meat, tomato, lettuce, and shredded cheese on top of Navajo bread. If you don't know what Navajo bread is it can be best described as fried flat bread. The fries were thin style and done just right without being too oily or not crispy enough. Overall: I would come back again when I am rolling through on my way to Samak or if I just happen to be in Kamas.

Ordered several shakes. I ordered a strawberry shake. I received a vanilla with a hint of strawberry. Maybe one or two in there. My wife's raspberry was the same. One star is for my daughters chocolate was ok. Wouldn't get another shake from there.

I have been stopping in for almost 20 years. Friendly service, large quantities and good food make this Drive Inn an easy choice after a day of playing in the wilderness. It is also open on Sundays which makes for a convenient choice as well.

oh my sweet hamburger deliciousness! you cannot fully understand the perfect harmony of shakes and burgers this place has cultivated unless you try it for yourself.... i live about 25 minutes away from this place....which happens to be located in a little town outside of park city, ut....the little town is called kamas - and guess what!?! the town is so quaint and remote-ish that the next town over is called samak - yep - that's kamas backwards! anywho, dick's drive inn is this tiny little thing, kind of a shack, but clean and neat inside, full of local people who didn't much take a liking to my sparkly t-shirt with a "rolling stone tongue out mouth" graphic on the front - but who cares about all that! this place mostly only has burger, fries, shakes and dogs....but the food is TO DIE FOR!!!! the best burger and shake i have ever had - and i am from CHICAGO people!!!! it's not like i'm one of the locals who's never left utah the food is DELISH! the malts are so malty and heavenly - just so very very good that i can barely find the words to explain it i suggest that if you come to park city for a ski vacation....try and find the time to run by dick's drive in in kamas, just map quest the directions....it's about 20 minutes from main street - and well worth it....plus, how else are you going to ever get the chance to see a real live utah small town....there's no other reason i can think of to go to kamas...! except maybe to actually go thru kamas and get to samak...just to see for yourself that there really are two towns like that.... GO TO DICKS! get the burger and malt thank me later! p.s. this is the cheapest meal you will ever eat! at least while you're in park city ;)
