Solid Chinese menu with good execution and good prices. Flavors can be a little basic, but I prefer a place to err on the side of safety. Would like the hot & spicy dishes to be a bit more potent. The pork egg rolls here are the best in the state. I have made entire meals from these delicious creations I recommended eating in house. It's not at all fancy, but the food is outstanding when it's fresh, goes down hill kind of fast.

Great prices, greasy food. It's what you'd expect for a cheap Chinese place.

Needless to say, my family and I drive 10 miles from Layton to Empire when we want some cheap Chinese food, that taste good. The sesame chicken is always a hit, and the chicken and broccili is my kids favorite. I have tried several of their spicy dishes and find the very mild. I would stay away from the Chow Mein dishes are they are very bland; almost like water with veggies. The prices are really decent and they give you plenty of food. Great fountain drink prices as well (under $1). The cooking area is in plain sight if you like to see your food cooked. The full sheet of paper for a menu is fun. Staff is friendly and quick.

If you are looking for typical Chinese take out, check out Empire Chinese. We have gotten take out from Empire for years, sometimes at least once a week, and we've never had a bad meal. Empire used to be the only Chinese place open on Sundays in Bountiful, which we loved! But, recently they decided to close on Sundays. Bummer. The service has always been great, and the owner always remembers our name and take-out order. Our favorite dishes are the Kung Pao Shrimp, Lemon Chicken, and Chicken Fried Rice. I really wish they'd open on Sundays again!

For what this place is, I think it's spectacular. Almost always delivers hot food that's pretty tasty and VERY reasonably priced. And it's quick.

Service is always good. The overall cleanliness is lacking. I like the food, but you are getting what you paid for. I have always loved the flavor, but often times the chicken (I usually get orange chicken) tastes somewhat processed. However, I still frequent this establishment, especially for their lunch deal-it truly can't be beat!

This is a five star review because for the price this place is the best Americanized Chinese food there is. I would say comparable to any higher priced place around buy actually better in most cases. Are their Mexican restaurants in China?

This is what we call "cheap Chinese." For a while there were a couple dishes that I could stomach, but it seems that every time I go, they give me another reason to not return. Last night was the kicker. Not only was all of our food very bland, but the customer service was horrible. Before I was done ordering and long before I handed them my card to pay, they started making my food. I changed my mind on one dish but I was told by the owner that they had already made it and I couldn't change my mind and that I could try the new dish next time. Mind you, the time between ordering the dish and changing my mind was less than a minute. I should have just walked out right then. There definitely won't be a next time.

This place is always fast and friendly. With a lack of good chinese in South Davis I'm grateful. Is it amazing food? No. Is among the best chinese I've had? No, but it's GOOD food and it's cheap. Not only that but the portions are large. I go away stuffed for under $7 for dinner and probably closer for $5 for lunch. Depending on what you get a few of their sauces I've found to be a little on the bland side, but the genral tso's and the cachew chicken are good.

This place is definitely cheap Chinese. It is not the Mandarin or pf changs but it is great for a way good price. Their quality is right up there with any other local place. You can get a dinner price meal for like $7 when you pay $11 somewhere else. I think lunch is about $5.00. They are expanding to a different location 2 doors down. They have a lot of repeat customers. They do a larger portion of meat than fried rice to add value.

Our new tradition for Tuesday nights is Empire Chinese and then a movie at the Megaplex. These guys are super fast and super good! Big chunks of ham in the fried rice. Tasty pot stickers. YUM!

Good cheap Chinese food. I recommend the general tso's chicken. Lunch specials run around 5$ with tax and come with fried or plain rice.

Okay. First I have to second the above. Never get takeout. It is cold and gross by the time your get home. Say in the dining room and eat it hot. Secondly this place has gone downhill the last couple years. The orange chicken, mongolian beef, and the wontons are about the only solid choices on the menu. Dont get the cream cheese wontons (soggy), and stay away from the rice and noodles...They have never been good. Prices are good, and its never busy.

One week after my first visit, I returned to try the Roast Pork Lo Mein. I ordered a small (pint) and a small pork fried rice. The lo mein was good, much better than the Kung Pao chicken I had the first visit. The rice was fine, not outstanding. The pork was the traditional char shu BBQ pork. It was okay but the Mandarin really sets the standard when it comes to char shu pork. The reason for the two-star rating: I called to order take-out on Monday and was told they don't sell the pork lo mein in the pint size any more. If it were outstanding food, I could splurge on a large and eat it for a few meals. However, this place's food is better enjoyed in small portions.

If you are looking for anything authentic this is not the place for you. But fast Americanized takeout then you are set.

Food was okay, not the best. I was craving hot & sour soup, this place has one of the worst I've ever had.

Best in the area for the price. Staff is super friendly. It's no Mandarin but as far as quick and easy you can't beat it.

Chinese Cuisine

The popularity of Chinese food in America can be adjudicated by the appearance of China Town in many major cities in the United State of America. The popular trend of ordering or opting for Chinese take away food isn't unknown in America. Chinese take away food comes to rescue when you're too tired from work or too exhausted to cook. No one can resist the temptation of eating spicy noodles, shrimp, chicken, beef or pork cooked in the sweet and spicy sauce. The cooking method of authentic Chinese food is a lot different compared to what is served in America.

Generally, Chinese use dark meat small bones and organs to cook dishes but this changes when you are eating American-Chinese fusion food prepared using white boneless meat cooked with broccoli, carrots and onions. Back in China, the food is less spicy and oily as they favor steaming and braising method for cooking the most popular dishes. So, if you have a taste for authentic Chinese food, then try finding a real Chinese restaurant in the city. You can also try the most popular fusion Chinese food like Pecking Duck, Chicken Feet, Hot Pot, Shrimp Dumpling Soup, Mapo Tofu, Wontons, Chop Suey, Egg Rolls and not to forget Fortune Cookies.

There are not many restaurants in America serving authentic Chinese food. A little research on Restaurant Listings directory can help you locate the best Chinese restaurants in the city. Chinese cuisine is continuously evolving, and you can find a variety of dishes categorized as the food for lactose intolerant, gluten intolerant, vegan, vegetarian, and diabetic friendly. So, if you have a group of friends with different taste patterns, save the hassle and visit the nearest Chinese restaurant in your city.
