1st time here. It was just ok. My bun was a little burnt. Fries were a little overcooked and it was just a very dry sandwich. Last time here for sure. The cashier was very nice though.

I went in at 2 PM on a weekday and was the only guy in line. So that was nice. I ordered a pulled pork sandwich and a drink which came to just under $7. I forgot to say "make it a combo". My bad. Take that as a tip when you order. Food was prepared neatly and promptly. Establishment was fairly clean and maintained. No free refills on soda (especially when dining-in which is odd!) and when I asked for a "diet coke" I was charged for the biggest cup rather than asked "what size?". Pulled pork was ok. I've had bbq in a dozen states and I was left feeling like the whole experience coulda been better.

This place keeps popping up as one of the best BBQ pork sandwiches in Memphis; so I just had to try it. I knew going in that they only served BBQ pork, so I would not be disappointed by the lack of ribs, chicken or beef brisket. The place has obviously been at this location for quite a while. It is small and has basic amenities and the food is served on paper plates with plastic ware. Having said that, the menu is simple: BBQ pork or hamburgers. The pork plate comes with meat, beans, slaw, fries and a roll. The pork was juicy and tender; the beans good with a hint of brown sugar; the slaw was average and the fries were coated and crispy. They also serve breakfast. The prices are very reasonable, with a regular BBQ plate clocking in at around $5 and a regular sandwich at $2.99 (the large sandwich is $4.39). The sauce has hints of mustard and is decent. I would call the food above average, but in my opinion, there are better places in Memphis. For the price though, you can eat a ton of food for very cheap! I would not drive out of the way to eat here, but if I were in the neighborhood, I would frequent this place often when I wanted a BBQ pork sandwich.

Definite hole in the wall BBQ here - which is a good thing. This place is worth finding. I had the pulled pork with slaw and beans. I give them all the a-ok for Memphis BBQ. Is it the best in town? No, but it is more than acceptable. The sauce is a little vinegary but has great flavor. The pork was tender and had great smoke flavor. Slaw and beans were better than some of the more famous Memphis institutions. Give it a try, you'll enjoy it.

I was here in December 2012, on a road trip from CA to VA, and had to get some Memphis BBQ. My fiancee ordered a BBQ plate which apparently we were meant to share. It was so good, I ate 75% of it before realizing I should at least offer him some! Bar-B-Q Plates include Bar-B-Q Pork, a Schubert roll, beans, slaw, & fries. Now I'm normally not a fan of beans, but these were delicious! Everything was the perfect combination of tastes that when I think BBQ, I'm always thinking about Memphis. My fiancee, who at this current moment is nearing Memphis and going to stop by, has me drooling over this food in good ole Cali...and I just ate! Maybe it's the great memory I had of driving from West to East coast that makes this place so much more exciting. Even if that's the case, I still like this place!

This is another of the numerous small BBQ spots around the city. The pulled pork ranges from okay to pretty good depending on the day, and it's very reasonably priced. I occasionally have work down this way and usually eat my lunches here. They'll have ribs or other specials on occasion but I usually just get Memphis BBQ. It's pretty basic but usually fairly tidy inside, and I'll be honest - I've had some, ah, interesting encounters with people here. Still, it's solid barbecue for a good price, so it's worth having if you're in the area.

Their breakfast is legit!! Try the big breakfast with biscuits and gravy! If lunch, go for the burger, onion rings and beans. Yes, I know its a BBQ spot but you will want to try the burger, trust me

Three Little Pigs is a long-standing BBQ joint in East Memphis on Quince Road. I have eaten here a few times, but decided tonight to eat it to review it. My meal would be a standard BBQ spot meal for me: a pork sandwich topped with slaw and hot sauce, beans on the side. The beans were quite tasty. There was pork in the beans, which is something I prefer. There was no tartiness to the side dish, and in fact, there was some nice spice to it. Many times, bbq spots ignore the beans and focus entirely on the meat. I think Three Little Pigs has done a nice job on the beans, though. The bun was toasted. There's nothing wrong in my opinion with a toasted bun. It's pretty hard to screw up a bun on a BBQ sandwich. The slaw was mass-produced, or at least it tasted that way. This was disappointing. I know it's much easier to order a barrel of Sysco slaw, but it doesn't taste very good. It may have been a tub of slaw from Kroger. I expected better. The hot sauce was excellent. It was clearly made in the store or somewhere very close by. There were red pepper flakes floating throughout the spicy red sauce, and it added a much-needed boost to the pork. Which brings me to the meat. Sigh. It was flavorless, dry, and was likely cooked 18 hours or more before the meat was served to me. I was extremely disappointed in the meat, especially when seeing stacks and stacks of wood sitting by the front door of the restaurant. This spot has the ability to be a truly amazing BBQ spot. It's got history; it's got location (right next to a bowling alley), it's got a plethora of ceramic pigs for decorations ... what it doesn't have (or at least did not have tonight) is smoke-infused, tasty and moist pulled/chopped pork. I'm beginning to think there is no excellent place to get pork inside the me city limits of Memphis other than Payne's. I will continue looking (unless someone wants to kindly email me the name of a better spot). I do not think I will come back to Three Little Pigs, unless it is to try their breakfast. I may come for the beans. I doubt I will come back for the pork. Three stars, mostly for the beans and hot sauce.

Had breakfast. Can not compare to Bryants. Its ok. The biscuits lack size. They taste fine. But lack fluffiness. The country ham was ok again not to bryants standard. The gravy is a simple sawmill gravy and it needs pepper. Its smooth and ok. Overall breakfast is ok its worth a try if your on this side of town.

Good BBQ but the place needs a mojor cleaning and so much clutter in the dining room. Employees were laughing and joking and looking at magazines with cuztomers present. Outside was dirty and trashy. Probably will not return.

This update is to inform BBQ fans that after 24 years in business, Three Little Pigs now offers ribs on the menu. We stopped in one evening and ordered a couple of sandwich plates to dine in, when I noticed a very small sign that mentioned ribs were available. I inquired and was told it was true, ribs are now a staple menu item. I ordered a half slab to go, with spicy sauce just to sample. The ribs were served dry rubbed, with sauce as a side. A smart move, it gives you the chance to taste them dry or add sauce as you please. The ribs were high quality meat, cooked to perfection, and the dry rub was an excellent blend of spices and needed nothing to improve it. I knew I loved their spicy sauce, so I had to add some anyway, (= perfection.) 1/2 slab $8.99, full 16.99, the lowest price in town, for some of the best ribs in town!

Great place to pop in for a bite! Breakfast is actually our go to Onion rings are the best! Nothing here is 'homemade' but it's solid food. If you're local, put this on your takeout rotation

Passed this place while trying to get my daughter to fall asleep in the car. I went in and asked what was the special. It wasn't on the menu, but the lady behind the register called it a "Burger-Q". This is a burger patty topped with 2oz of pulled pork, cheese, bacon, and barbecue sauce. Everything about the sandwich was good. I would recommend giving the "Burger-Q" a try.

I can't speak to this spots BBQ (although the 3 Little Pigs in Starkville was great while I was in college) but this place has a breakfast that is outstanding. I love getting up on a Saturday morning and going to TLP BBQ for some breakfast. My favorite is the county ham with eggs and a biscuit.

I love this place, for what it is. I used to live a few blocks from here and have been coming here on and off for almost 40 years. (Holy crap, I just did the math.) I moved out of Memphis in 1979 but still go back every year or two to visit family and just about always stop by Three Little Pigs. As others have pointed out, it's not the decor, although it _is_ better now than it used to be. I am a big fan of the pulled pork sandwich, probably because I grew up eating theirs. I love their sauce, and as others have pointed out, the baked beans are awesome. (You just don't get beans like that in New Jersey.) I do miss the lady that worked there for 35+ years, she was always there, chopping away. I never knew her name and she wasn't particularly friendly but now that she's gone (passed away I'm sorry to say) I do miss her. If you have the chance to eat here do stop in and enjoy it. Next time I am there I have to try the ribs which I hear they just added to the menu.

Three Little Pigs is where I go when I don't feel like cooking but I also don't feel like traveling more than 1000 feet to get food. Yes, it's that close. Every time I go, I swear I won't waste my time or money again, yet somehow laziness prevails. Saturday I went for breakfast at about 9:45. The dining room was about full but I got to place my order right away. I grabbed a bottle of apple juice and ordered a bacon-and-egg sandwich, a side of hashbrowns and a coffee. This came to about $10, which is entirely too much for the quality of everything except the juice (good job on that Mott's or whatever brand that was). I don't know how a simple bacon-and-egg sandwich can be made unappetizing but congratulations Three Little Pigs, y'all did it! And the coffee was basically brown water. Hopefully next time I'm too lazy to crack an egg and make toast I'll remember this experience.

Do I have a sign on me that says: Can you screw up my order?. Evidently yes. Ordered 2 BBQ plates to go, asked if I could sub chips for fries, cashier rang it up... said OK, you don't want fries, would you like to sub say chips for the fries???.... then said, ugh, you already said that didn't you. Yes I did. Waited not long for the order....Tom your order's ready.... ugh... no it's not, it's to go, not to eat in, and I had chips not fries. Confusion surfaced on the big guys face... he looked at the ticket, guess what, it did say to go. BUT... you can't sub chips for fries. Really, I relayed the previous conversation with the cashier... He started yelling at her to get her attention.... did you tell him he could get chips instead of fries.... after 2 attempts, she heard him, Yes she said. You can't do that! Sorry she said. He said well I'll let you do it since she said it but not next time. I almost said, and in hindsight should have said, I tell you what chump, shove the 2 plates up ...., give me my money back, and etc. But, I didn't. Just took the plates back to my office, ate 1, I could tell I was eating, but whatever it was, had -0- taste. What a jerk! Felt sorry for the cashier. Hope you can find a job where you don't have to work for a schmuck.

Let's hear it for one of the little guys. The pork barbecue sandwich (get the jumbo) at 3LP is just right--the meat is tender and succulent, the sauce is more on the tangy than the sweet side but definitely not sour, and the other elements (slaw, bun) enhance the overall flavor without getting in the way. I highly recommend this spot and place the 3LP sandwich a couple of notches above those of some of the more well known local barbecue eateries.

Far and away the best BBQ sandwich I've found in Memphis so far, and I've found some pretty good sandwiches. One of the few places in Memphis whose cole slaw doesn't suck. Also has very good burgers.

The first time I ever had BBQ was from Holleman's (in West Memphis), and 11 years ago. I didn't know much about BBQ back then but what I did know is that I loved it. Years later I traveled to Texas for college and was very confused by Texas style BBQ, and while I did find myself digging in whenever I could, I always missed Arkansas (Memphis style?) BBQ. Back in Tennessee for the first time in years I knew I wanted the one thing they couldn't replicate in any of the over priced BBQ joints in NYC...pulled pork. My sister in laws parents seemed to appreciate the fact that if I was going to do BBQ I wanted to do it right, so they took us a solid 35 minutes away to the Three Little Pigs. I was forewarned that this little joint wasn't a site for sore eyes, but not to be quick to mistake its looks for the way the food tasted. As per usual I ordered way too much... I went with the jumbo BBQ platter ($6.59 / reg platter $5.79) which included a heaping serving of pulled pork, baked beans, cole slaw, french fries, and a sweet tea. The beans were scrumptious, the fries were some of the best I had ever had, the cole slaw was good, and the pulled pork was absolutely perfect. Moist pork doused in just the right amount of BBQ sauce. Mmm - pretty sure I was in BBQ heaven. Yeah, the decor was not anything to write home about, but the food most certainly was. The service too. The next time I'm in Memphis I will certainly be stopping in at the Three Little Pigs. --- *Cash only. **Free refills.

A Memphis BBQ institution for many years, nothing fancy just a good sandwich done the old way. Your choice brown, white or mixed with slaw and sauce. A regular stop for our family in need of a quick tasty meal and a BBQ fix. You will not be disappointed.

When traveling I always like to try to find a local place that I cannot eat at when I am home. This place did not disappoint! Local dive with great food and great people working there. Pork was very good but chopped and I prefer pulled. Fries were great and so were the beans. Slaw was homemade and only OK. Had some delicious sweet tea to wash it down and banana pudding for dessert. At all of that for less than $11 so I was very pleased with the cost. I'd recommend it is you are looking for a local place to eat!

The BBQ menu here is limited to chopped pork shoulder. They also have burgers and serve full country breakfasts, but I came for the BBQ. The large sandwich, on a lightly toasted roll was good, if not great. The hot sauce could have been hotter, but I definitely preferred it to the mild sauce, which tasted almost like straight ketchup. The onion rings were light and crispy, not as good as those at Neely's or Cozy Corner, but good. The banana pudding was insipid. My wife got a BBQ plate with beans and slaw, which were OK, but instead of a roll or white bread, they gave her a really delicious buttermilk biscuit, so I could definitely see coming back here for a country ham and egg breakfast..

A sentimental favorite since it's been there as far back as I can remember into childhood. But the BBQ sandwiches are only okay. The bread is kind of stale. But it has a wonderful atmosphere, and is a great family and neighborhood joint.

This place is decorated similarly to your weird great aunt's. Your great aunt did not make such a good bbq sandwich. Have the combo with fries, beans, and slaw. All are fantastic. This place is out of the way, but worth it. Get the ribs elsewhere (none offered) but check this out for the sandwich combo. Also

When people from out of town ask me what my favorite Memphis barbecue restaurant is, this is the place I tell them about. It's a one-room, unpretentious place right next to a a dry cleaner and a bowling alley, so I always get my food for take-out. It serves a barbecue sandwich that is as good as you'll find anywhere in Memphis. I order the sandwich with hot sauce. I also get some of the vinegar-based hot sauce they keep in bottles on the counter, which is terrific on the sandwich. Their barbecue beans are great, too.
