This place is so good! I love general tso' chicken and it's really hard to find quality general tso' until now! Panda garden is by far the best place to get it! The crab ragoons are to die for! I could eat them for my whole meal and be very satisfied! The only reason I'm giving 4 stars is because, in my opinion, the waitress was way to persistant. She came around every two or three minutes. Panda garden will definitely cure your thirst haha.

This was one of the first if not the first location for Formosa. I don't know if they have any connection any more but the menu and food are very similar to Formosa. I would give the edge to Formosa but I always enjoy my meal here. Saying that, it is not authentic but mostly Americanized. The food is always fresh and hot. I would probably say 3.5 stars. Note: they can be heavy handed with the salt so watch it if your salt sensitive.

This place is hands down the best Chinese food in Memphis. From the crab Rangoon to the egg drop soup to the sweet and sour chicken or the beef and broccoli... You can't go wrong! 10 stars and 10 thumbs up.

After several visits they still won't serve me actual Panda. I have asked dozens of times but they must think i'm a cop. I'm starting to wonder if they even have any Panda...... Everything else is yummy though.

Favorite chinese place ever. Place is clean, no buffet. Food is always hot and fresh. I get the honey chicken combination plate and my husband gets spicy Orange chicken. Sesame chicken is really good to if you want something plain. Fried rice is the best I've ever had. And chinese donuts...yummmm... You HAVE to try this place, we bring all our friends and family here and eat here probably every week haha it's that good.

I've been driving by this place for years and have just never had the courage to give it a try. It's on the less appealing end of Summer Ave., however I'm finding myself more and more in and around this area for great food. My Co-workers and I were in the mood for some Chinese food that didn't include the dreaded buffet. After looking at several places on Yelp we decided on Panda Garden and we were glad we did. We all ordered a lunch special and it was an abundance of food. For starters the Spring Roll and Chicken Wing came out first and were very tasty and not far behind that came our soup. I had the Hot & Sour and it was delicious. Everyone else had Egg Drop Soup and they all enjoyed it as well. I ordered the Crab Rangoon's. After reading Justin B's review how could I not! I was prepared to be disappointed after that review but Justin was spot on with his assessment and we were wishing that the order of eight was closer to eighteen. They were so light and flakey, definitely some of the best I've ever had. The main course came out and was a hit with everyone. We all had the General Tso's Chicken and it was unlike most Chinese Restaurants, It wasn't over battered and over fried pieces of chicken drowned in a super sweet and spicy sauce. It was almost all white meat chicken cooked to perfection. The sauce was great and the onions and peppers were so well seasoned and fresh. The only reason I'm not going a full five stars on this review is the Fried Rice. It was at best two stars. I love Fried Rice and this was pretty far down on my list of good Fried Rice. That being said I can't wait to try some other dishes at my new favorite Chinese Restaurant.

My darling mother-in-law called us up and said she'd bring us takeout because the oyster beef was so good. She brought that for the husband, who raved about it ("like a Chinese pot roast," he said). And for me, a delicately fried tofu in a light brown sauce. We both loved our dishes, but I definitely got MSG-ed. It gives me the weirdest headache and vision effects and all day at work the next day, people were asking me if I was ok because I was so "off" as a result of this delicious meal. If you're not MSG-sensitive (most people aren't; good news!!) then eat up and enjoy. But if you are sensitive to MSG, proceed with caution.

I love this place!! I drive all the way from Southwind to eat here. I haven't had a bad dish yet. There food is amazing!!! My only complaint would be the serving sizes. They could be a bit larger.

This is the closest restaurant to our house, and it happens to be one of our favorites. The soups are always good (wanton, egg drop, hot & sour). Surprisingly one of our favorite appetizers is the "hundred flower chicken" which is like a fried chicken breast badderd with a type of dressing (like turkey dressing!) It's really tasty and the full order is just like 2 chicken breasts- plenty for 2. Our favorite dish is the combination rice noodle.. It's chicken, shrimp, pork, beef, and veggies stir fried in super thin rice noodles. It's very clean and flavorful and there isn't any overwhelming sauce covering it all up. Some places have good days and bad days, but this place is always on top of their game. It's our favorite Chinese restaurant in town.

My wife and I eat Chinese food frequently, but i will have to say, this maybe the worst we have had. The only exception is the crab rangoons, which are wonderful. Service was ok, but the food was not. I had chicken lo mein, which had no flavor, and the fried rice was burned. Wife had general tso chicken which wad better than the lo mein, but not by much. So in summary, i would recommend somewhere else. Anywhere else.

This has been our favorite Chinese restaurant for years. No buffet just fresh cooked wonderful food. Good prices , nice ambiance. Everything we've tried is delicious. Best wonton soup, spring rolls, hundred flower, sesame chicken, lemon chicken just to name a few.

Ate here with my roommate after weeks of wanting Chinese! Definatly a good choice! Service was friendly and the way the good is brought out to you is so cool. They bring the rice out in neat silver ...things I don't know how to describe them and those and the plates are covered. It's just a really neat little atmosphere thing going on and I love it. The fried dumplings were so good too! I had the sesame chicken which was prepared differently than I was used to but probably way better! I couldn't put it down. Another thing I would like to add is the sweet and sour sauce is kept in a ketchup bottle on the table.

I've been a regular here for many years, back when it was Formosa. The food hasn't changed. It is Americanized Chinese, served in the small homestyle restaurant style with covered dishes. The meals come with soup and an app which is a chicken wing and a spring roll. I love them both. I am also a fan of the egg drop and hot and sour soup, both the best I've ever had in Memphis. My only complaint is the portions are a bit small. 3 large shrimp in an entree, 3 pieces of chicken, 3 pieces of beef. The sauces are always delicious, and I find myself sopping the plate with the fried sugared biscuit which comes with the meal. The restaurant is clean with tablecloths. The staff is kind, warm and friendly.

I always liked chinese food and Panda Garden give you the real deal with just some minor changes to suit the american lifestyle. I love their hot and sour soup, it's the best I've ever had. I like that all the food taste different and not the same kind of taste for the chicken dishes. So if you want real chinese food, this is the place to go!

Still love the Szechuan chicken...but. We mostly order take-out and they have changed the food containers. Instead of styrofoam for the entree, they now use a black bottom, clear top, plastic container. This is good. You can reuse the container, but must remember that it has two steam holes in the lid. Here's the bad part. It appears to me that the portion is smaller. The rice is in a traditional paper container. This container gets smaller and smaller with each order. Why? Rice is cheap. Just my latest two cents.

I have yet to have Chinese in Memphis that has come close to touching Panda Garden. Chinese restaurants in Memphis are a dime a dozen, but Panda Garden stands head and shoulders above them all in my book. This place is -LITERALLY- worth coming to for the crab rangoon alone. It just can't be beat. I would almost come here and get nothing but crab rangoon, it is that good! The food also is so much better than any other Chinese I've had here. Could it be better? Yes. But I don't think I know of anywhere in Memphis where it is. The atmosphere is very casual and the restaurant itself is a little older. The crowd tends to be a little older and more family friendly as well. My wife and I both love this place. I absolutely recommend giving it a try and make sure you get some crab rangoon!

Can you give a restaurant 5 stars for good service and a single delicious appetizer? I'm tempted to for Panda Garden's crab rangoon. Panda Garden is set back off of Summer Ave in a small-ish nondescript building. You're greeted as you enter a small vestibule, then led around to your table. The inside is nicely laid out with booths and sort of an intimate feel to everything. Most of the menu is pretty good, and while I've always been satisfied, nothing has really stood out to me. The service has always been friendly and prompt. The one really exceptional thing, as I mentioned, is the crab rangoon. You can get them as an order - I think there are 8 - and when you eat those, you will want another order. You may decide to just eat those and forget the entree. They're really, really good. If you're a rangoon lover, or even just like Chinese food in general, definitely check this place out.

Eddie who owns Formosa also owns Mosa Asian foods Awsome...... next to Bed Bath and Beyond on Poplar and White Sta.

If you like Mosa, you will like the favors offered here. The atmosphere and location can't compare with Mosa, but the recipes are said to be the same and it certainly tastes like that is the case. Fast service and always predictable food. The house fried rice is delicious. These people rank among the best carry out in the city. You will nearly go insane if you have a long drive home with the delicious food steaming nearby in the carry out boxes. You may want to bring a designated driver if you are overly hungry.

I have only ordered takeout from Panda Garden. But it looks like they have ample seating inside & the staff are always helpful and efficient when I pick my order up. This is our go-to Chinese food in Memphis. We usually order typical American type Chinese food, but every time our order is correct, the food is hot, and the taste never disappoints. The portion sizes too are large. We have also ordered from another popular Chinese takeout restaurant in Memphis, but when they got the order wrong, they did not apologize or offer anything to compensate us for the time & inconvenience. So, we default to Panda Garden now every time. They have yet to ruin their reputation in our eyes. It's not only a safe bet you'll like it, but a good chance they will become your go-to as well.

Chinese Cuisine

The popularity of Chinese food in America can be adjudicated by the appearance of China Town in many major cities in the United State of America. The popular trend of ordering or opting for Chinese take away food isn't unknown in America. Chinese take away food comes to rescue when you're too tired from work or too exhausted to cook. No one can resist the temptation of eating spicy noodles, shrimp, chicken, beef or pork cooked in the sweet and spicy sauce. The cooking method of authentic Chinese food is a lot different compared to what is served in America.

Generally, Chinese use dark meat small bones and organs to cook dishes but this changes when you are eating American-Chinese fusion food prepared using white boneless meat cooked with broccoli, carrots and onions. Back in China, the food is less spicy and oily as they favor steaming and braising method for cooking the most popular dishes. So, if you have a taste for authentic Chinese food, then try finding a real Chinese restaurant in the city. You can also try the most popular fusion Chinese food like Pecking Duck, Chicken Feet, Hot Pot, Shrimp Dumpling Soup, Mapo Tofu, Wontons, Chop Suey, Egg Rolls and not to forget Fortune Cookies.

There are not many restaurants in America serving authentic Chinese food. A little research on Restaurant Listings directory can help you locate the best Chinese restaurants in the city. Chinese cuisine is continuously evolving, and you can find a variety of dishes categorized as the food for lactose intolerant, gluten intolerant, vegan, vegetarian, and diabetic friendly. So, if you have a group of friends with different taste patterns, save the hassle and visit the nearest Chinese restaurant in your city.
