Great fast restaurant dining, that serves wine & beer.

Humdinger's does a great job serving healthy food options very quickly. It's in-between fast food & casual dining e.g., you order at the counter, take a number to your table & they bring your food to you. The food is prepared on a grill in an open window for customers to see. The grilled fish & veggies are excelllent. Definitely a good value and rare option to get a quick, healthy sit-down meal for about $10.

I tried the Cordova location with a friend and I thought it was really good. So me and my husband were in the area and we came across this location in Poplar. Lets just say we aren't fish people, however my husband thinks its important to incorporate it into our diet lol As we walked in the staff was very welcoming and helpful. I ordered the blackened tilapia again because its just so good. For topping, I picked black bean & corn salsa, for sides sweet potato fries and asparagus. My husband ordered the mahi mahi with pineapple salsa, rice and seasoned fries. I enjoyed my meal but the sweet potato fries were just too salty :( However, my tilapia and asparagus were cooked well and tasted great. My husband really liked his mahi mahi, rice and seasoned fries. I tried his seasoned fries and they were so good, I ended up eating most of them lol All in all I really like Humdingers. However, since I've been to both places, I prefer the Cordova location because they have outside seating.

Fresh, fun, and fast. It's a great place to sit down and eat without having to wait forever on your food. I love that the kitchen has only a glass between it and the restaurant... you can actually see what they are doing and know that your food is fresh! I love the lemon sauce that they offer... You can only find it here and it tastes good on everything. It's a great place to go with your family! Love this place.

Humdingers Shrimp is pretty dang tasty. It's a milder version of Shrimp appetizer I've seen many times before at quite a few places. Very good though. I have been here several times and the fish is usually pretty good. The sauces that they offer are pretty unique for a fast casual place. I like the Medium Piri Piri sauce on just about everything. The grilled asparagus is very good, in fact, all of the grilled sides are good. Stay away from Swai and Tilapia as they are nasty fish!

Healthy fish is pretty easy to find, but a place that makes it fast and with healthy sides too?! I love it!!i asked for mine to be made without butter and light on the oil and they did a great job. The fish and sides were seasoned perfectly, just a hint of spice. I wish I would have taken a picture but I was too hungry! Lots of choices of fish, salads, sides and they have chicken too!

Even after all of the good reviews, I have to admit that I was pleasantly surprised. I got the salmon with grilled asparagus and then also sides of the seasoned fries and brussel sprouts. The food was quick to be brought to the table, flavored very well and hot. It was a wide range of clientele in there. The real only downside is it was really loud in there. I'd planned to go in and make some customer calls at lunch, that just wasn't doable. But the food was really very good and the staff were all very pleasant and attentive. I'd go again next time I'm in town.

I've eaten here before, but forgot to give it a review. A little unique for fish and chicken, but very good. Fish is grilled and you can watch them cook it. Had the Humdingers shrimp, very tasty, has a bit of a kick but very good. You order and then sit and your food is brought out to you. They have several different sauces at the table to try. Definitely would recommend to anyone wondering whether it's worth it or not. I don't think you'll be disappointed.

I absolutely love humdingers! The fish tacos and grilled shrimp with zucchini are my favorite! I like the food here because it tastes so fresh, in Memphis it is so hard to find fresh seafood. They season everything great! They also have this stuff called pirahana sauce and it is delicious !

Humdingers is a rather nice place to eat, which offers tasty seafood in a casual setting. Humdingers shrimp and crispy calamari served on a bead of Asian slaw were excellent. Next time I am going to try their grilled fish dishes.

This is my favorite "fast food" restaurant. It's a little hard to find, but luckily we just happened to stumble across it one evening. I love grilled fish but can't find time to cook it myself as often as I'd like. The fish here is very good as are the sides. I get the sea bass when available or the salmon and also the grilled zucchini. Tastes great and good for you too! My favorite appetizer is the shrimp with Asian slaw. My boyfriend is not a fan of grilled fish, so he gets the chicken which is excellent.

Good food, I went so often when it opened that I've lost the taste for it but definitely give it a try. The food is definitely different and good for lunch.

Excellent grilled seafood! I had the grilled salmon with black bean and corn salsa, grilled zucchini and yellow rice. The place was packed for lunch, but the wait was reasonable. get there early so you can be sure to get a table.

So one day the line at Chik-Fil-A was wrapped around the building and I wasn't in the mood to wait. So I decided to try Humdingers instead. Well, turns out they are muuuuch slower than Chik-Fil-A but you get to hang out in a pleasant enough atmosphere so it's OK. Next time maybe I'll think to call in my order. I got three chicken tenders with grilled zuchinni and it was awesome! I can't remember what sauce I got. I guess it was Piri Piri. I found the sauce selection process a little confusing and annoying. I really don't want a bunch of options. Just make it. Don't ask me a bunch of questions. Just do it the way a panel of experts determined it tastes best. Don't make me decide. I'll muck it up. Luckily, I made a good decision. Hopefully, I'll make the same choice next time.

Consistently average food quality although the fish portions are small for the cost. Tonight, they were out of rice (?) which is usually served with every meal. Most other vegetables are grilled which tends to make them dry. Tacos and crab cakes are our go to favorites. The chicken is always good. One of my pet peeves is any restaurant/office/store that broadcasts opinion news (regardless of the opinion). Humdingers gets demerits for their insistence on having a channel always tuned to Fox News. It may be silly, but I'm there to eat and take a momentary break from talking heads hating on my beloved countrymen. Maybe, it just me...

I love this place! It offers the quality of fine dining food and a casual dining atmosphere for a reasonable price. Every time I have been here, the fish and chicken have been cooked to perfection. The chicken tenders are amazing on their own, but when mixed with their unique Piri-Piri sauce, the flavor pops. The Piri-Piri sauce has a sweet taste with a spicy kick at the end. The sauce varies in different levels of spiciness that you can choose from. But be warned, if you order an item with the mild Piri-Piri sauce, it has more kick than other mild sauces found elsewhere. You have a choice of ordering your fish grilled or blackened and there are many different toppings you can choose from. I got the pineapple salsa which added a zing to every bite. The fish I ordered, blackened amberjack, was very mild and very flaky. The fish by itself was delicious, but then add the burst of flavor from the pineapple salsa, this is a dish I will definitely get again! The breadsticks are crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside with seasoning sprinkled on top. They will ask you if you would like to add one to your dish. I highly recommend them. Also, if you are looking for an inexpensive date night, they offer a special on Thursday nights. You get one appetizer, two glasses of wine, two entrees, and two malco movie passes for $40.

How can you not love this place. This restaurant is a seafood and fish-lover's dream. Talapia, salmon, amberjack, swai, mahi mahi, ahi tuna, shrimp, calamari, crawfish, crab cakes, calm chowder and the list goes on and on. Wheeewww I'm getting hungry again just thinking about all of the options that I have here at Humdingers. When I visited yesterday, I had my usual. I absolutely love the salmon fish topped with crawfish with rice and asparagus. The grilled asparagus is amazing. I can eat their asparagus everyday of the week. What I really enjoy about their entrees are that they are not oily or greasy. They are cooked perfectly and taste excellent. For dessert, I recommend the orea cream cake. It is awesome. I've had it at least 5 times and every time I have it I'm thoroughly satisfied. The service here is fantastic. 5-stars for Humdingers.

Went again today and took my family. Ordered the wasabi tuna salad, it was pretty good although pricy for a salad (10.99). My daughter had the fish and chips - she said the rice seemed bland, the fish was good, and the fries were a little salty. We also had he hummdingers shrimp which were good as usual, and the zucchini which is seasoned nicely and grilled. Good service and a clean location. It was a little chilly in the restaurant.

I had the Shrimp Po Boy with Seasoned Fries. The toasted bun slapped with aioli, sliced tomatoes, a bed of purple cabbge slaw, all topped with deliciously fried shrimp was heaven in my mouth! If the sandwich wasn't enough there are piri piri sauces that you can lay on it for even more flavor. They have three kinds: lemon herb, medium, and hot. The lemon herb was like a thick vinaigrette and the medium and hot piri piri were unlike any hit sauces I've had before. Not only were they full of flavor, but they had just enough heat which didn't hinder the taste. The seasoned fries were also good, the seasoning on them was unlike anything I've had before, but the only thing that I didn't like about them was that it was a tad bit salty for my palette. Despite that, I'd come back here and give their other food a try.

Great lunch place if you're looking for a piece of grilled fish or grilled chicken. The piri piri mushroom topping on the fish is what I'd recommend as a topping on your fish. You will get plenty of food and the cost is very affordable for lunch. Their grilled zucchini is also very good. If you've had the bang bang shrimp from bonefish and like it you need to try the Humdinger's shrimp appetizer. Their black bean corn salsa is also a great side and each time I've had ordered this as a side it always taste fresh. The staff here is very friendly and they get your food out very fast right after it comes off the grill.

Stopped by on my way out of town and enjoyed my lunch here. You walk up, order, sit down and your order is brought to you. The calamari appetizer was crispy, tasty and fresh. There is a good selection of fish or chicken grilled and served with various seasonings and toppings. My Swai (first time eating this) tasted good! They are known for their piri-piri chicken, where piri-piri is basically an african pepper that is the base of the sauces used here. Everything is fresh about this place and I just found out one is opening near Nashville so I will be making plans to go there soon to try some of that chicken.

Now that i have changed my diet, its important I find fresh healthy food to eat when out and about. This place is the ticket.. I got the Grilled Amberjack over rice with Pineapple salsa. It was fresh, perfectly cooked and just wonderful. I highly recommend if you are in this side of town you must try this place...

What a find! Humdingers is in a strip mall hidden behind Chik Fila in a crazy crowded parking lot. Came here with girlfriends for lunch and it was crowded. The line moves efficiently with ordering at the counter and good brought to your table. Unlimited drink refills with a great iced tea and fresh lemons are a nice touch. Lemons were nice to add on my grilled shrimp tacos served with a corn and black bean salsa. I was pleasantly surprised the shrimp was not overdone and the mayo had a nice zing without being gloppy. The cabbage on the taco was crunchy and the salsa was seasoned well. I'm coming back to try the chicken next. Total cost about $12.

Quick fast food style queue but not fast food style food. Tuna encrusted with wasabi was very good and the wings were perfectly crispy on the outside but tender and juicy. Put this one on your list.

I had the piri-piri chicken breast comes with rice and a side of Asian Slaw. I didn't really think this was that good. There is the same piri piri chain in Atlanta called Boneheads, which I think is better. The chicken breast was a bit rubber textured, the rice a little crunchy. Asian slaw was good, but seemed a bit dull. A bit of a letdown after the rave review. I did go for dinner, and it was quite empty.

Their selection of fresh fish and veggies makes eating healthy bearable. I ordered quite a bit and took most home. Their tacos are pretty large so one with two sides are enough.

This is one of the best options for a filling and healthy lunch in Memphis. My favorite is the Mahi Mahi with Piri Mushrooms, and Zucchini on the side. Sometimes Mahi Mahi is not available, and the Amberjack is a great alternative. The Grilled Sweet Potatoes are another great side option. There is often a long line during the lunch hour, but the line moves swiftly, and orders are delivered quickly to the table.

Here again, trying to find another place for lunch, we wandered into Humdinger's. I don't like ordering at a counter but this place had a pretty efficient process. The tilapia tacos were huge and really quite good. I enjoyed their bottled sauces. This place will make the lunch rotation.

Great place to come for a quick lunch. Located in a fairly new area with other new restaurants. Although they advertise as a fish joint, I think you will be pleased with the dessert selection as well.

Establishment very clean. Menu may have many choices that a novice would find overwhelming. Take your iphone to look some of the fish types and descriptions! Seriously, the staff was friendly and willing to help. Tilapia was excellent and so was the calamari.

Good quality seafood for cheap. Met my mother and her friends here. I got the grilled Salmon with mushroom topping. It was pretty good and the sweet potato side was excellent as well. I ate there for dinner, but this is definitely a lunch spot. Check it out.

Really fantastic spicy, flavorful experience at wonderful prices! Got takeout here for the first time today - my order was ready in about 10 minutes (I called ahead) and they were very pleasant when I got there. I got the Swai, blackened with PiriPiri mushrooms, sweet potato fries, with rice + a couple sides of the Piri-Piri sauce. Fantastic, the fish was really well cooked, very nice portion, sweet potato fries were good, but by no means the best I have ever had. The rice was...well, good rice! I got the medium and hot grades of the Piri Piri sauce - they have great flavor and definitely packed a punch. The other two in the family got the Rainbow Trout (also blacked) and the shrimp skewers (~12 shrimp). Trout was wonderful - had GREAT flavor and texture. The shrimp were also well cooked - not dry at all and very well flavored. Great, inexpensive place to get some very flavorful food! Highly recommend!

Two visits here and both times were good experiences. Humdingers is a casual place with an easy menu . You can see the orders being cooked over a very large commercial grill behind a glass wall as you wait in line to order (and you will probably have to wait if you are there at lunch or dinner time). If you are careful with your choices, you can get a lot of food for a reasonable price too. The sides are inexpensive, interesting, and very tasty for the most part. Grilled asparagus, sweet potato slabs, and zucchini offer heathy choices. With three appetizers, and 10 sides, our family of five can eat for well under $40 The portabella fries with Parmesan cheese are quite different but the shrimp are amazing. Food is served on bright Fiesta Ware dishes and the presentation is good. The drinks are serve yourself and the ice dispensed is my favorite (yeah I know....sounds silly) crushed with air in the ice. Overall, this place is not much more expensive than most fast food, way better than the big big chains like Applebee's, and Humdinger's offers a healthier choice if you are disciplined with your selections.

Sooo yumm! Will b a new fav spot for very well cook seafood! I had the fish with black bean salsa, grilled zuc, and grilled sweet potatos. Fab! Nice glass merlot and good company ... Great end of the work day, i feel full, yet not nasty total meal 20 bucks

Oh yowza - Humdingers was exactly as the name might suggest! While understated on the outside, and at the end of a strip mall - a hidden gem! I happened upon this place based upon the fact that it was within 1 minute driving distance from a Walgreens my fiance & I were at. We walked in completely unsure of what to expect, and it was a wide array of seafood & then some! I got the Wasabi encrusted ahi tuna with mushrooms & a caesar salad. It was also accompanied by very flavorful rice. I truly cannot say enough good things about this place. My side caesar salad was particularly wonderful, if only for the simple fact that it makes all others I've had seem completely mediocre. You order when you first walk in, and the entire staff were very friendly and nice. I definitely cannot wait to go back! Very affordable for the quality and service.

Oh how I love Humdingers! I've been going here for almost 2 years now and just getting around to writing a review. This is the perfect example of a fast -casual restaurant. The service is quick, attentive and the staff is friendly. I'm not usually a creature of habit but I can't get enough of the Salmon, with Cucumber & Yogurt, with Grilled Zucchini on the side--so I order it every time I go there. I've tried other things like the tacos but the salmon is where it's at--it's grilled to order and the char on it is always perfect. The array of piri piri sauces are also delicious and you can find the level of heat you're comfortable with. I like the "Hot" sauce. You get all that for $12-15. That's great value. Another thing...I'm a carb-fiend and for me to be satisfied and full after such a low-carb meal is amazing. There's definitely a rush hour during lunch so I try to come here before 11:30. If you come after 12, it's hard to find a spot to sit. I'm excited to hear that Humdingers is planning to expand--they have a good model and I'm sure they will succeed no matter what city the new restaurants are based in. Oh and I just saw that they had a brunch menu too...might have to check that out sometime...

I LOVE Humdingers. And when I say love, I mean I'll gladly drive from Southaven to Poplar for dinner. I am really not a seafood person, but they have wonderful Piri Piri chicken as well. Without fail I get the chicken tacos and a side of sweet potato fries. The fries are SO good and the chicken tacos are amazing. They put the special seasoning on them and a special cole slaw and...oh my! I've heard equally as wonderful things about the rest of their menu, but since I am not a fan of seafood I've stayed on the chicken side of the menu. Everything I've had on the menu is fantastic. You go to the counter and place your order, and then take a number back to your table and wait. And I've never waited long, even when they were at their busiest. The location at Poplar is smaller and therefore tends to get busier quicker than the one on Germantown Parkway. I've been in there at the peak of lunch time, I only worried we wouldn't get a table and did not have any drop in the customer service level. Food is fantastic, restuarant is clean, and service is impeccable. I will defInetely go back and defInetely recommend it.

What is Humdingers?? I've asked myself this question after driving by so many times and not stopping in. Well last wknd i got bored and didn't know where to eat. Called up a friend and she suggested by Humdingers. Once i walked in, i noticed a nice lit casual place to have some dinner. We went through the menu while watching the chef cook on the grill through the open kitchen. I ordered the Blackened Salmon topped with Pineapple salsa along with Grilled Asparagus and Grilled corn. My friend ordered a chicken breast with a side of grilled asparagus and salad. I thought the food was great. I love anything grilled that tastes like it came fresh off the bbq grill. The Salmon was grilled perfectly still juicy on the inside, the asparagus the same way and the corn was grilled slightly with a little cajun seasoning. My friends chicken breast however was a bit on the dry side but her asparagus and salad were good. Overall i thought the food was prepared nicely and its healthy if u wanted to eat early or late in the day. I'm glad i stopped in.

Several people on several occasions have told me about Humdinger's and how I need to go check it out. Well, I finally did one evening, for a much needed get-together with my friend Eula. Humdinger's is counter service, but they also have lovely staff member to come around and check on you as well. Everyone is very nice! They serve fresh fish and piri piri chicken in many different ways. I was excited about this, as there are not many reasonably priced places around town where you can find many fresh fish options. If you want it, you basically have to pay upwards of $25.00 an entree, or you have to go with the frozen kind (which is not always terrible). Your choice. I was highly impressed with all of the options that this place had. I had a hard time figuring out exactly what I wanted! I did know that I needed a drink, after working several long days in a row. I ordered wine, but they did not have any. That was okay with me, as they also had Samuel Adams. Sold. Their menu is decently extensive, but I chose one of the fish platters. You choose your fish, choose your topping, and choose your side. It also comes with rice. I had never heard of either Amberjack or Triggerfish, so I googled both to see what they were like. The Triggerfish got better results on Google, so that is what I went with. I chose the pineapple salsa as my topper and grilled sweet potatoes as my side. I also got a cup of New England Clam Chowder. Eula got the Grilled Tilapia, covered in pineapple salsa, with a side Caesar salad. Eula said her meal was really good. I loved mine! The fish was very flavorful and flaky, and the pineapple salsa was sweet, but not too sweet. It also had a good kick to it as well. The grilled sweet potatoes were fantastic. They were cooked perfectly and had a great, spicy seasoning on them. I do not prefer my sweet potatoes overly sweet, covered in sugar, butter, etc. These were not that. You could taste the natural sweetness of the potato, along with the spiciness of the seasoning. The clam chowder wasn't the best I have ever had. It did not have as much flavor as the rest of the meal, but it was still good. It was wonderfully creamy and full of clam and other yummies. They didn't skimp on ingredients. Overall, I am only upset that I did not try Humdinger's sooner. It is the perfect place to find a healthy meal at a great price that still has a lot of flavor! You just can't find that in many places around town. I will definitely be back again. I just wish there was a location closer in town.

This place was hoping when we went at 12:30pm. If you go at lunch time beware, you may not find a table. Or a parking spot. The food is good and there is a great selection for both fish and non fish eaters (spouse has a seafood allergy). I got lunch for myself and my toddler for under $15. The portions are a good size. We both got sweet potato fries but mine were seasoned and his weren't. They lose a point because the fries were over seasoned for my taste and I prefer my sweet potato fries without any other flavors on them. You order at the front, get a number and they bring the food to your table. We didn't wait long for our food and the staff cleared the plates off but didn't rush us out. All in all I think we'll be back in the near future.

Humdingers is - hands down - the best casual seafood restaurant in Memphis. Their calamari was crispy and flavorful, their Greek salad was one of the best salads I've ever eaten, and the Piri-Piri sauce on their fish is incredible. Their prices are extremely reasonable and the service is friendly. I've literally eaten at Humdingers three times in three days... It's that good.

Me and my brother came here for lunch on a Sunday afternoon, and it was very crowded! I ordered the Mahi Mahi with pineapple salsa, zucchini, and sweet potato fries. He ordered the chicken sandwich. I think after living in Hawaii for a year, I'm a little spoiled when it comes to good, fresh fish. The mahi mahi was pretty small, and it didn't taste very fresh. It wasn't very impressive. The zucchini was really mushy, and tasteless, and i usually love zucchini. The sweet potato fries were just okay! My brothers chicken sandwich did look pretty good!.. It was massive! The service here was great, everyone was super friendly! The location is super easy to find with lots of parking. Maybe I just ordered the wrong thing, but Humdingers did not impress me, and I doubt I'll be back.

Humdingers reminds me of bone fish of fast food. The Humdingers Shrimp is like the beloved Bang Bang from Bone. My usual order is a grilled fish and side of grilled asparagus. Everything is fresh cook to order. Food is tasty and quick. Service has been great.

The set-up at Humdinger's is like Qdoba, but with using fresh fish as well as tacos. So, you don't order at a table, you place your order and go down the line, somewhat cafeteria-style (with much better food). It's a clever idea and you can choose from several varieties of fish. I had the skewered shrimp, but you can go for Mahi Mahi, tilapia, salmon, crispy fish and chips, then you request a topping. Some of the toppings were corn and bean salsa, sauteed mushrooms, a cucumber sauce, and pineapple salsa. I chose the latter. Delicious with shrimp. Then, pick a side. There are also taco combos, soups, appetizers, desserts, and a selection of beer and wine.

I am oh so glad a friend told me about Humdinger's. Finding anything healthy in Memphis is quite a feat. Everything seems to be fried, BBQd, and laden with fat grams. Humdinger's is a breath of fresh air for those of us looking to veer off of that course. The Humdinger's Shrimp is a very similar concoction of my favorite menu item at Bonefish, the Bang Bang Shrimp. It also happens to be a just a smidge cheaper, which is always a bonus. Their grilled fish and pineapple salsa is to die for. Whoever thought to put fish and fruit together is quite the odd-ball, but I want to hug them nonetheless. The cucumber lime and yogurt sauce is my second favorite topping. It is light, cool and clean flavoring and it is perfect in our 115 degree weather. My favorite item here is the fish tacos. They are seriously delicious. The fish is very fresh and lightly seasoned. They put this cole slaw mixture and Humdinger's sauce in the shell and magic happens. Magic people. If you haven't tried Humdinger's, I suggest you do. Your ever expanding Memphis waist line and cholesterol levels will thank me.

Humdingers is a delightful little respite from all the fried treats so plentiful in Memphis. The menu consists mostly of seafood items, chicken dishes and a collection of sides. There are 4 or 5 different toppings you can add to your fish selections too - Snapper with Pineapple Salsa is my personal fave. I don't think they'll win any restaurant awards but they should at least get an honorable mention for offering something other than your standard fried-this or fried-that fare. Haven't been there for dinner yet but if you like to sit while you eat (which I do) then you better get there before noon for lunch. The space is small and the lines get long. Sometimes you have to give people the "we're waiting on you to finish your meal so we can sit down" look in order to snag a table in time for your food to arrive. Need something fast and not fried, give Humdingers a try (shoud be their slogan). ;)

For sure try the Portobello Sandwich with Sweet Potato Fries...delish! Although a bit pricey and the place can get very crowded at lunch which makes the parking situation there a nightmare! I recommend going early (before 11:30) or late (after 1:00). Keep in mind that this is pretty typical at any decent eating establishment in the Poplar/Kirby/Ridgeway area at this time.

It's that good.

from the spot where mama fu's was, there is now humdinger's. humdingers is a fast food chain serving healthy options intstead of greasy ones. most of the choices on the menu are grilled. you can get a variety of fish: snapper, mahi-mahi, salmon, and tilapia. they have different topping for the fish: black bean corn salsa, cucumber lime yogurt, pineapple salsa and piri piri mushroom. the piri piri sauce is their speciality it's a south african pepper and they make 4 different variations of it it: lemon herb, medium, hot, and extra hot. on the night we went, i tried the 1/2 grilled chicken with lemon herb sauce, seasoned rice and grilled zucchini as my side. the chicken was moist. i just wished there was more seasoning on the meat inside. my husband got the tacos combo of chicken, piri piri grilled shrimp, and fish with a side of grilled asparagus. the sides they are offer are very exciting: corn and black bean salsa, sweet potato fries, asian cole slaw, grilled zucchini, grilled asparagus, chilled marinated broccoli, seasoned fries and side salad. anyways, if i go back, i think i will get the fish tacos. the fish in my husband's fish taco was light and buttery even though it was not fried. they were tasty. also, i am a sucker for sweet potato fries. i will have to try those next time as well. entrees are under 10 bucks and the food does come out fast. it's like mcalister's where you get a number and they bring the food to you. if you like fish, i think this is worth it to try humdinger's.

Humdingers reminds me of bone fish of fast food. The Humdingers Shrimp is like the beloved Bang Bang from Bone. My usual order is a grilled fish and side of grilled asparagus. Everything is fresh cook to order. Food is tasty and quick. Service has been great.

Humdinger's is one of the few restaurants in the Memphis area that I truly enjoy. I almost always get their baked half chicken with rice and fries. Everything on the plate is delicious and there is rarely anything left on my plate by the time I am through eating.

I've eaten Humdingers when it was catered for work a few times and it has always been good. I like that the fish options are not fried and that you can have grilled veggies as a side. I went to the restaurant for lunch on a Tuesday and it was packed. Our food came out in a timely manner. I got the fish tacos and grilled sweet potatoes. Both were excellent. Next time I think I'll get just fish instead of tacos (less carbs!) The only negatives were: 1. It was really warm in the restaurant that day but the temperature outside was almost 100; 2. The water had a weird aftertaste.

What a pleasant surprise! I was in the area looking for something different, so I decided to give this place a try; it did not disappoint. I got the shrimp appetizer, which was very flavorful (think Bonefish's Bang Bang Shrimp). I then got the Mahi Mahi with pineapple salsa, yellow rice, and grilled sweet potatoes. Everything was fresh and fantastic; actually, it was a little spicy which is fine by me, but fair warning to those who can't handle spicy. Other than the taste of the food, a couple of things really make this place stand out. For one, you order and pay for your food at the counter, and they bring it out to you. For the quality and variety of food, this was unique in a good way; it also sped things up quite a bit. Secondly, variety. This place is not just 'fish and chips,' nor is it only fish. They have several fish plates (mostly grilled) with healthy sides other than fries. They also have sandwiches such as the Chicken Philly. Note: they also offer call-ahead takeout, as well as wine and beer. Good job, Humdinger's; I'll definitely be back!

What a surprise to find such a gem. I ordered mahi mahi with pineapple salsa topping and grilled asparagus. Everything was quite tasty and I'm hard pressed to say what I'd do differently except I wish the pineapple in the salsa had been diced more finely so that I could have enjoyed it with more fish bites. As well, the woody, inedible stems of the asparagus could have been trimmed down. Then again they wouldn't have been as pretty!

I work nearby and this place is one of the lunch spots I frequent. It's fast, the prices are reasonable and the staff is always nice and accommodating. My go-to orders are the two taco combo and the blackened salmon. I've yet to have a bad experience here.

Seems like a solid fish joint, though the teenagers working there are pretty clueless about...well...they are teenagers, nevermind. Good food, clean place, we were a good sized group and we were all happy.

Here again, trying to find another place for lunch, we wandered into Humdinger's. I don't like ordering at a counter but this place had a pretty efficient process. The tilapia tacos were huge and really quite good. I enjoyed their bottled sauces. This place will make the lunch rotation.

Humdinger's is one of the few restaurants in the Memphis area that I truly enjoy. I almost always get their baked half chicken with rice and fries. Everything on the plate is delicious and there is rarely anything left on my plate by the time I am through eating.

from the spot where mama fu's was, there is now humdinger's. humdingers is a fast food chain serving healthy options intstead of greasy ones. most of the choices on the menu are grilled. you can get a variety of fish: snapper, mahi-mahi, salmon, and tilapia. they have different topping for the fish: black bean corn salsa, cucumber lime yogurt, pineapple salsa and piri piri mushroom. the piri piri sauce is their speciality it's a south african pepper and they make 4 different variations of it it: lemon herb, medium, hot, and extra hot. on the night we went, i tried the 1/2 grilled chicken with lemon herb sauce, seasoned rice and grilled zucchini as my side. the chicken was moist. i just wished there was more seasoning on the meat inside. my husband got the tacos combo of chicken, piri piri grilled shrimp, and fish with a side of grilled asparagus. the sides they are offer are very exciting: corn and black bean salsa, sweet potato fries, asian cole slaw, grilled zucchini, grilled asparagus, chilled marinated broccoli, seasoned fries and side salad. anyways, if i go back, i think i will get the fish tacos. the fish in my husband's fish taco was light and buttery even though it was not fried. they were tasty. also, i am a sucker for sweet potato fries. i will have to try those next time as well. entrees are under 10 bucks and the food does come out fast. it's like mcalister's where you get a number and they bring the food to you. if you like fish, i think this is worth it to try humdinger's.

  • Andrea J.

The pari pari chicken is nice. They will make it as spicy as you like. They have a great selection of fish, too. I will frequent this place. It's a nice taste of South Africa/Porto in Memphis.

Humdinger's is one of the few restaurants in the Memphis area that I truly enjoy. I almost always get their baked half chicken with rice and fries. Everything on the plate is delicious and there is rarely anything left on my plate by the time I am through eating.

I really liked this place. Simply enough, the food is good. I do think the prices are a bit high for the portion sizes, but I must not mind too much because I keep going back!

from the spot where mama fu's was, there is now humdinger's. humdingers is a fast food chain serving healthy options intstead of greasy ones. most of the choices on the menu are grilled. you can get a variety of fish: snapper, mahi-mahi, salmon, and tilapia. they have different topping for the fish: black bean corn salsa, cucumber lime yogurt, pineapple salsa and piri piri mushroom. the piri piri sauce is their speciality it's a south african pepper and they make 4 different variations of it it: lemon herb, medium, hot, and extra hot. on the night we went, i tried the 1/2 grilled chicken with lemon herb sauce, seasoned rice and grilled zucchini as my side. the chicken was moist. i just wished there was more seasoning on the meat inside. my husband got the tacos combo of chicken, piri piri grilled shrimp, and fish with a side of grilled asparagus. the sides they are offer are very exciting: corn and black bean salsa, sweet potato fries, asian cole slaw, grilled zucchini, grilled asparagus, chilled marinated broccoli, seasoned fries and side salad. anyways, if i go back, i think i will get the fish tacos. the fish in my husband's fish taco was light and buttery even though it was not fried. they were tasty. also, i am a sucker for sweet potato fries. i will have to try those next time as well. entrees are under 10 bucks and the food does come out fast. it's like mcalister's where you get a number and they bring the food to you. if you like fish, i think this is worth it to try humdinger's.
