    The Good: All of it - the service, the atmosphere, the food, the wine, the sommelier! I went for No Menu Monday and event a vegetarian menu did not disappoint! I'm shocked others have had anything but a phenomenal meal. The Bad: I didn't love the first dish- squash/zucchini cold salad, but that's my preference for texture. The Verdict: I'm marking the calendar for the last Monday of the next several months! I also can't wait to try the "regular" menu.

    This is a thoughtful and well put together restaurant. The menu is kept fresh and includes consideration of local ingredients and seasonal availability. Dishes include features visitors are unlikely to find at other similarly priced restaurants in town, which ultimately leads to an enjoyable and interesting experience. The server was knowledgeable and articulate. My meal consisted of a cheese plate, a tomato tart, and a "chuck" entree. I also tasted the duck entree. The tomato tart was made with chicken liver mousse, and it was excellent. Though it was not quite as tomato-forward as I expected, the mousse is well composed, light, and plays well with the very fresh tasting tomatoes served on top. The chuck entree was very enjoyable. It is a cut chosen based on availability. I found the slightly less traditional cut I was served to be well seasoned, certainly handled properly, but my sole complaint of the evening was that the chuck required a bit more chewing work than I prefer. The meat was served on top of a very creamy sweet corn purée, with blacked okra and shishito peppers. The fragrance of the dish struck me immediately, and the flavors delivered on the fragrance's promise. Again, the texture of the beef loomed in my mind as the only disappointment in an otherwise excellent meal. Though it was not the dish I ordered, I borrowed a bite or two of duck from a friend's plate, and it was exquisite. It was seasoned well, accompanied by creative and interesting sides, and the texture was perfectly soft. I look forward to many return trips.

Truly a story of local boys done well, Chefs Michael Hudman and Andy Ticer citing their grandmothers and the city of Memphis as inspirations behind upscale yet rustic Italian cooking honed in kitchens ranging from home to Calabria, a meal at Andrew Michael Italian Kitchen walks the fine line between family and formality, the décor minimalist with service that is exceedingly attentive without being overbearing - our time constraints not just navigated, but pacing that was absolutely perfect as food was delivered at timely intervals with thorough descriptions of techniques and ingredients never for lack. Changing the menu up daily, occasionally sometimes during the course of service depending on availability of seasonal ingredients and meats butchered at the duo's Porcellino's Craft Butcher, it was with antipasti that the meal began and with several new items focusing on spring vegetables both the sashimi-style scallops and tangy Panzanella were exceptionally light and vibrant, the signature "AM Breakfast" obviously far less so given the heft of its ingredients, though certainly no less delicious with a smoky-smooth leftover sauce more than justifying the use of fresh baked bread to wipe the bowl clean. Proud to produce each and every pasta in-house round two featured a trio of options deemed 'lighter' by our server, and as much as one might have expected the Mafalde laced with confit duck to tickle my fancy this elegant flavor splashed with Vermouth only scratched the surface of what the kitchen is truly capable of, both the pillowy potato dumplings in vegetal pork ragu and the brilliant Agnolotti teaming with earth and aromatics plus light citrus proving even more inspired with the later amongst the best plates seen during an eight day stay in the state of Tennessee. Interested in the secondi, but unable to resist more pasta, course three featured two-more plates of noodles alongside a pan seared quail dressed up with broccoli rabe, blistered hominy, nuts, and two sauces that acted to accentuate the mild gaminess of the bird, and as good as the other pastas were these heavier options were no less delicious, the hollow bucatini al dente beneath rich ragu while the signature ravioli was rich with meat and aged cheese, the 'family secret' gravy smoky and complex with mild acidity and only a hint of sweetness, undoubtedly the result of time, love, and many years of tweaking. Never one to forgo the sweets, particularly from a menu on which nearly everything sounded exemplary, it was in a quintet that the meal would end and with popcorn gelato topped in cracker-jack caramel proving a perfect savory-meets-sweet transition a recommendation as to which dessert was "best" would be a fool's endeavor as each was entirely different and none less than exemplary, the fried cannoli shell with whipped mascarpone undoubtedly the lightest of the group while the maple tart and chocolate budino were creamy and decadent, the 'toffee pudding' streaked in cocoa falling somewhere in between with a dense sponge not unlike the figgy English version but flavors much closely approximating those of a Snickers Bar, the creamy gelato slowly melting into a puddle of sweet saltiness quickly sopped up by the crumbled meringue-like powder.

    The place is beautiful and welcoming. Some fine dining places can feel stuffy and pretentious, but AMIK is warm and welcoming. One thing you are sure to get here is amazing service. The waitress was extremely nice, helpful and very knowledgeable on all subjects we tested her on. We had the scallops which were seared perfectly and the mushroom puree was amazing. The gnocchi with the ham hock was delicious and perfectly cooked-- I am usually disappointed or underwhelmed with gnocchi, but not at AMIK! The chuck was tender, juicy and cooked perfectly the cauliflower and the balsamic sugo was a great compliment and I licked my plate clean! My partner had the pork and it was equally delicious--perfectly pink and juicy. I really do not think you can go wrong with any choice you make at AMIK! I can't wait to go back and sit at the new bar area and have drinks and dinner. This is in my top 5 of Memphis eateries!

    I visited this restaurant for the first time on Feb 23, 2015 as part of a Swine and Wine progressive dinner fundraiser for Cozy Corner (a good BBQ joint that had a fire recently).So technically I didn't eat their usual food, but rather had several small plates especially prepared for the event. The food was delicious, and elegant. The place itself is a cozy house-like building with several rooms, and a larger room with a bar. I'm attaching several photos of the place, as well as a picture of the menu -- though it is changed and printed out daily, I'm told.

    The food is beyond reproach. Everything is excellent, from the starters to the dessert. I cannot recommend the beef chuck, am breakfast, or any pasta dish enough. Also, the sticky toffee pudding is a must try!! My husband and I will miss this place.

    Words can't describe!! Everything about my experience was amazing, our waitress was incredibly versed and offered us wonderful options and was delightful the whole night. The food speaks for itself, it literally left me dreaming about it for the entire week! I kid you not! And the drinks were outstanding, worth every cent and then some!

    All of the comments in my last review hold true, but the popcorn gelato was a catastrophe. It is utterly absurd to call this a "signature dessert" - my husband and I both tried it, and all that we could taste was salt. I heard at least one other customer at the table next to ours complaining to her family about how salty it was. A really poor ending to an otherwise beautiful meal. AND when our server came to find our bowl sitting on the table, full and melting after our 6-course tasting menu, she quizzed us about whether the salt was an "aftertaste" or not. I'm sorry, but when I'm paying close to $250 for a meal (with corkage and tip, for two people), everything should be perfect, and I shouldn't have to defend my dislike of frozen salt masquerading as dessert to a server. I'll come back because everything else WAS perfect, but I would never knowingly order that salt gelato again.

    I do not know what the fuss is about regarding this restaurant. The food was good, but not great. We shared 2 appetizers, and the flavors were not very exciting. The side salad was dismal. My husband's entree was really expensive, but it was gone in 2 bites it seemed. The ravioli was good. Pasta was really well made, but again the flavor had no oomph.

    Two words: AM Breakfast. We love Andrew Michael! It's our favorite special occasion date spot. The food is ALWAYS divine -- Maw Maw's Ravioli, anything duck, just everything! For dessert (and you have to try dessert), I love the cannoli, and my husband cleans his plate every time he orders any of their available ice cream. It's such a great, intimate spot perfect for impressing that special someone in your life. Seriously, though, order the AM Breakfast.

    All around fantastic experience! Setting--romantic, small tables in a cute older house. Service--excellent. Waiter knew the menu, the ingredients, the wine and cocktail lists, and had great recommendations and tips of how to utilize the menus for the best all-around experience. He even stated he loved 1st timers the best (which we were) because it allows him to create an experience that makes us leaving wanting to come back. It worked! Background of owners is very cool. Love the restaurant is based off of authentic Italian cuisine while utilizing local and fresh ingredients with an ever changing menu based on ingredient availability. They even do business with other local great place, Hog and Hominy across the street for their cured meats. Fresh herbs are grown on-site. Location in Brookhaven circle--great spot. Definitely make a reservation!! Wine list was great. Not as many 'by the glass' choices. 4 course menu with small portions--charcuterie or cheese plate, appetizer, pasta, entree. Then a great dessert menu to end with. Loved all the food we had. Mee Mee's ravioli for the pasta course was AMAZING! Popcorn gelato for dessert--sounds crazy, but they sell it well and it was delicious (especially if you like a caramel/sweet & salty taste)!! Next time would like to try the caprese salad...had the melon and prosciutto app this time. Would and will definitely go again and highly recommend!

    I have never dined at Andrew Michael, but studied culinary arts with the two of them in Italy, and I can honestly say that they are both great chefs. I have cooked with them, tasted their creations and share their passion. I can say with full confidence that this is the place in Memphis!

    Pretty good place. I like their menu, it seems like authentic Italian dishes rather than olive garden kind of italian. I enjoyed their pastas, which I think are homemade. Wine list, with lots of by the glass options, was good and well priced.

    I went to Andrew Michaels today for the first time. As James Beard semi-finalists we wanted to give them a try and see what they were like. It's on Brookhaven circle essentially re-purposed homes from the 50's off of Poplar. Nothing very attractive out front, but they have done a wonderful job inside. They combined some of the 50's wood work with some more contemporary touches to make if very inviting. Dining areas with large windows primarily focus upon looking over the backyard. I started with the anti-pasta plate with Italian meats and cheese. Very yummy, the meats and cheese complemented one another very well - had to be eaten together along with my wonderful Argentinian Cabernet. They described the wine as spicey - I'm not sure I agree but it complemented the Italian meat very well. I followed with beef and risotto dish It was very good. I'm not a large risotto fan, but it was prepared very well and the flavor/texture played off the beef well. I closed with the Chocolate Torte. It was a wonderful blend of creamy, chewy and crispy in a mix of chocolate, peanut butter and their popcorn gelato. very good. I thought Andrew Michaels excelled at mixing flavors and textures in all of their dishes including the tastings I had of my wife's food. Service was good, but not yet great. The service was a little more reactionary than I would like versus anticipatory. Overall a very good food experience. I look forward to returning.

    Best italian in Memphis and as close to northern Italy as we have found in the states. Excellent service. Fine selection of grappa. The lamb and ravioli were the best selections with perfect canoli for dessert. Wish it were more spacious. The little cottage atmosphere doesn't fit the elegance of the meal and it can get too noisy.     andrew michael italian kitchen on brookhaven circle provides a cozy atmosphere and tasty food. here's some advice: you will definitely need a reservation if you want to eat there. apparently, it is gotten to be quite the place since reviews in the commercial appeal have come out. also, the chefs, andy and michael, are going to be in some food network tv special about first time restauranteurs. if i were you, i would go for the potato gnocchi to start. it was very delicate and not heavy like i have had at other restaurants. the gnocchi was served in a sweet cream sauce with roasted corn, caramelized fennel (i'm not a fan of fennel as a dominant flavor but this was more of an accent flavor), and the tarragon bread crumb/cubes. as far as the entrees/proteins, i would go for the duck breast. the duck was tender and melted in your mouth. it is served with a polenta, greens, and a fig reduction. for dessert, i would go for the espresso panna cota. it is not overly sweet and is fairly light. the chefs themselves actually came around and spoke to the customers which i thought was nice. the food all seemed really fresh and everything is made in house according to our server. the service was really good. detailed and attentive but not overly so (they pack your leftovers for you and in foil shaped swans). the place was packed on the friday night when we went. so just remember that reservations are a must and that andrew michael is only open for dinner. you can take my advice or not. just remember to try and support the local businesses. recession is hard especially on the higher priced restauranteurs. andrew michael is worth treating yourself to for dinner.

    I went with a group of girls for dinner last week, and I was highly impressed. I had the lamb. My husband asked me what I had for dinner when I got home, and when I told him, he looked at me puzzled. This chick doesn't normally eat stuff like that, but when I saw servers carrying it out, my taste buds were dying to try it! I was so happy that I ordered it. Y'all! It was AH-MAZING! I love the location of this place. It's tucked in Brookhaven Circle with all of the other awesome restaurants. My girlfriends and I even thought about doing a progressive dinner one weekend. It's the perfect area to "bar hop." FYI: I would suggest a reservation because it's not a large restaurant.

    FANTASTIC! We went last night on recommendation and loved it. We are a group of Chefs with a passion for great food and Andrew Michael did not disappoint. The atmosphere is warm and inviting but trendy at the same time. We ordered multiples of each course and shared, this was the way to do it. Every dish was unique in flavor and put together wonderfully. Our server was well versed and knowledgeable of everything on the menu and was there when we needed him. Must haves are A/M Breakfast which has 63 degree poached egg, pork belly, polenta and pork skins. Perfectly seasoned and creamy polenta with the soft poached egg which make the dish super rich and then pork belly and crunchy skins. Maw maw's ravioli has a perfect gravy. Well balanced flavor from the ragu and apparently from four generations back. Duck was cooked medium rare over root vegetables and a soy reduction. Honorable mention would have to be the potato gnocchi which were small hand made and with just the right amount of acid to complement the cream. If you are in Memphis you should go to Andrew Michael!

Pasta choices was wonderful, our table didn't know which to choose so we ordered one extra so all could sample, main entree was pork which was succulent.     I just don't have enough good things to say about this place. I've been here at least a half a dozen times in the last two years and it never disappoints on Food, Service or Atmosphere. Since food to me is most important, let's start here. The menu and portions aren't massive and they encourage you to share (they will split your portion into two without getting an eye roll from the employees). They have non-traditional twists on some classic dishes, as well as a few just totally out-there dishes. For the first time in my review history, I'm not even going to point out any special dishes because literally EVERYTHING I've had was amazing. They do have some specialties, such as the A|M Breakfast, Gnocchi, Chicken and Cheesecake, but whatever you do, please find a way to make room for the popcorn gelato. Here are a few tips: if you don't know what to get, do the Chef Tasting Menu. Last time I was here several weeks ago, my parents were in town and my Dad was starving and didn't even want to look at the menu. His main objective was to eat. I'm glad we did this because I got to taste a bit of everything in smaller portions and we barely had room for dessert. Oh, and Chef Andy was in the kitchen that day! Another tip...BYOW (Bring Your Own Wine). The corkage fee isn't obnoxious and it's the perfect place to pop open that good bottle you've been saving for a "special occasion". Atmosphere was very cozy and the wait staff really knows their menu by heart. Don't be shy to ask them to recommend something! This place isn't huge so reservations are an absolute must. This is in no way a modern venue. It's like sitting in someone's house with a few rooms and some tables throughout. Perfect for an anniversary celebration. Come hungry, leave happy and about $150 per couple poorer. Some may say "that's too expensive!"...I say it's worth every dollar.

    Very, very good. The cheese plate was nicely done though there was a little service snafu. The leek app amazing. The gnocchi was awesome. Entree of 'chuck' was great. 'Pork' was good, touch overlooked. Very knowledgable server. A very solid value for the money.

    So, the first time I ate here, my husband and I were seated on the patio, and when his entrée was placed on the table, there was a giant bug in the bowl. We're pretty sure it fell out of a tree, but it took a solid year for us to dare return, seeing as the waiter adamantly denied the existence of said bug in the food. I am glad to have recently returned. Our dining experience was gluttonous and mostly wonderful. I ordered the "maccheroni al torchini" (grown-up mac and cheese) and was accidentally brought the gnocchi. Normally, I would have been upset, but it was the best order screw up ever - I will demand gnocchi on my next visit. As a bonus, our horrified waitress also brought the maccheroni gratis. As my entrée, I ordered the chuck. The meat itself was amazing, but the potatoes were so salty they were inedible. My husband ordered another pasta dish (I don't remember which one), and it tasted like garbage. Looked beautiful and was not good. The meal was redeemed with dessert - my husband ordered the Budino, which he refused to share .. and I countered with the sticky toffee pudding for which I would stand on the front lines of war to defend. Lovely ambiance (artwork!, décor), but I wish there was a little more breathing room - feels kind of cramped.

    I think I'm getting old. The food here was delicious, but my husband and I both found ourselves wishing we were at home. Upon arriving, parking was sparse, but we scored a relatively close parking space across the street. Inside, it was very much like Erling Jensens...a converted house - very cozy. My husband called Friday afternoon on a whim, not even expecting to procure a table, but they were able to give us a 4 top in the bar. The menu was a little different and we asked the server to explain so we could order accordingly. Apparently all dishes are very small and one is encouraged to order a plate off of each section. In doing so, however, you are talking about an appetizer, a small pasta dish, and an entree. We were told that sharing or straying from this method may leave us very hungry. (Well, who wants to do that?) If one was to order accordingly, each person comes out spending around $50 plus whatever drinks you may have. The favorite thing I ate was the gnocchi with browned butter and country ham. In my opinion, if you go, that is a must. My husband got the breakfast A/M with the pork rinds and the freshly dusted cayenne sent me into a sneezing fit when I went to sample it. It was okay. My husband was still talking about the perfectly poached (sous-vide) egg that accompanied it. The entrees were nice, but a recent "value based review" gave me food for thought. It's definitely nice to get dressed up and go out somewhere nice to eat....but I'm a darned good cook and could have reproduced something equally as nice at home. Hence the "I think I'm getting old".....

    Love love love! My husband took me here for my Birthday. We ordered the breakfast starter, Maw maws ravioli, duck, pork tenderloin, sticky toffee cake, and popcorn ice cream. Everything tasted delicious! I was honestly not a fan of the popcorn ice cream but I think that's because I don't like a salty sweet mix. The hubs loved it though and it's worth to get just so you can say you have tried it. By far the second best thing to the food is the service. Be ready to not have to worry a minute about flagging down a waiter or lifting a finger. They are going to beat you to it every time. You can also tell that the staff works as a well oiled machine. It's not every man for himself here they are a team. Lastly take some pictures with who you are dining with the lighting is beautiful!

    Simply put, the finest dining experience I've had in the city of Memphis. From the time we were seated till the time we walked out the door, this was just top notch all the way. Caring, knowledgeable staff went the extra mile and set this place apart. We opted for the 5 course chef tasting menu with wine pairing for my birthday dinner. Each course was better than the last. From the caprese salad, through the handmade pasta sampler, the TWO main courses (the chef threw in a 6th course, lamb, gratis for the occasion, all the way through the dessert sampler. EVERYTHING was top notch. Fantastic melding of flavors and textures I've found in cities like NYC, NOLA, and SF but not locally. The wine pairings were excellent and thoughtfully explained by our extremely knowledgeable waiters. The dinner ran about 2.5hrs and the pacing felt perfect. Never felt rush, never wanted for anything. Beautifully done ladies and gentlemen. Thank you for making my night special. We will be back!!

    I live in Atlanta and am surrounded by amazing food. In visiting my mom for Thanksgiving in Memphis, we decided to try Andrew Michael, and it was by far one of the best meals I've had in a very long time. We started by sharing the AM Breakfast (incredible) and the beef tartare (interesting and delicious), which balanced each other beautifully. We then split the wild boar ragu (seasonal) and the flavor was out of this world! Entrees were the duck and the chuck, and they were able to half each and put them on the same plate for us. The duck was good, but the real star was the chuck. The cauliflower puree was amazing, and the golden raisins were a lovely surprise. I could eat that every day. The meal wouldn't have been complete without the gelato that we had heard so much about. We got the trio, which included the famous popcorn flavor, carrot and dulce de leche. Amazing. A true dining experience that lived up to all the accolades. Really fantastic!

    ABSOLUTELY THE WORST RESTAURANT I HAVE EVER BEEN TO! We dine out often and do not mind dropping $300 for a fabulous dinner but Andrew Michael let me down in a major way! The only reason that this place was given one star was for the service. My husband and I went here for our Anniversary and I was so excited that we even got a reservation. Everyone I talked to about this place said it was the best! I have never been more disappointed. My hubby and I chose the chef's five course meal with wine pairings. The ONLY thing pleasing was the wine! Our first course was a green pea soufflé. I felt like I was eating baby food! The second course was scallops. I was very excited about this because I love sea scallops. But again, major disappointment!! There were only two scallops per plate and they were the size of maybe a quarter. They were so salty! It tasted as if they were encrusted with Epsom salt!! The 3rd dish was the pasta course. This course was just mediocre! The flavor was ok but the biggest issue was that it was cold. It was barely room temp. The entree course was pork. So many things I could say about this but the only word that comes to mind is inedible! There was so much fat ribboned through it that I could not physically chew it. I had to tastefully spit it out into my napkin. I alerted the waiter about this and she brought out new entrees. Grouper was the replacement entree and I couldn't even eat it because I was so let down by the entire night. I gave it to my husband because I felt so bad for him because even after 4 courses, he was still starving!!! The portion sizes were smaller than anything I have ever experienced! And then, just when I thought it could not get any worse.... They brought out Buttered Popcorn flavored gelato!!!! It tasted exactly like the buttered popcorn jelly belly's that NO ONE eats! I have never been more let down by a restaurant! I wanted to go to Huey's and get a burger and fries as soon as we left!! Not worth the time and definitely not worth the money!!!

    amazing tasting menu - picked the 5 course tasting menu - WOW started with homemade mozzarella with grilled veggies, then on to house made risotto with yolk drop garnish and lima beans, veal breast, pork tenderloin, and 3 diff desserts - toffee cake with ice cream, a dense chocolate "pudding" with toffee chips and a chocolate torte with caramel glaze - knocked my socks off and the Japanese guest from NYC - prob one of the best meals ever had in this city. These guys rock!!

    Outstanding meal last night! We've recently moved to Memphis via San Francisco and Toronto and find your food the BEST in Memphis! Your food is inventive and delicious without over doing it and loosing flavors. You have found the perfect balance in all of your dishes. I see a Michelin Star in your future. I give you 5 stars for food, but your wine selection isn't up to par with your food. I look forward to seeing what you offer in 2014!

    My 2nd visit and this place does not disappoint! I tried completely different items and all of them were fantastic. I don't think there is an item here that does not deserve to be on the menu. The chicken pate on the charcuterie plate was fantastic! Make sure you eat it only with the charred baguette slices that comes with, somehow the smokiness on the bread complete the richness of the pate. I would ask for more charred bread slices so you can stretch out the pate experience! What's not to love about homemade fresh pasta?!?! If you appreciate the simple elegance of quality ingredients, this is the place! Shared the duck breast as an entree, WOW! This place understands how to finish their proteins. It was simply done perfectly. This is definitely one of my favorite places to eat on special occasions.

    Finally got to go over Christmas and it is now my favorite in Memphis. Everything we tried was great. You must have a reservation. Great wine choices as well. It's across the street from their other great restaurant hog and hominy. I started with breakfast am style a slow poached egg with pork belly which was incredible and a must, then the ravioli, and finished with a fish speciality skate fish wing. The whole meal was wonderful and can't wait to go back when I'm home again.

    Lovely setting and ambiance. Food is mediocre and every dish (including salad and dessert) that our table of 5 ordered was overly salty. Fish and meat were tough. For the price one would just hope for higher quality cuisine.

    Ok very nice environment but the food was very average. Boring bread (and boy are they stingy with it) beef that I couldn't chew because it was so tough etc. Party of 6 and not one person enjoyed their entree. Real disappointing!!

    I had dinner at the place in July, and this place is ridiculously good. While the Octopus Uni (sea urchin) pasta dish with pan crisped noodles were okay, the halibut with with truffle and mushroom reduction was amazing. Apparently the compressed prosciutto with melon and peanut power was delightful. And the rabbit, well my colleague had to order it again even the second time he came. Overall a good experience and the service was impeccable minus the oversight with the delay in coffee service.

    This is a higher end rustico-style Italian eatery on the edge of Midtown and Germantown just off Poplar in the restaurant loop. If you're looking for Italian-American this is not your place. No spaghetti or lasagna platters here. The owners also operate the more family friendly (and lower priced) Hog and Hominy (where you'll find the pizza and lasagna) across the street, cooking for both. Looking for a nice meal my wife and another couple had a wonderful five course meal tonight. Pros; nice mid-range wine list which the staff paired brilliantly with the food. They did an ad-hoc vegetarian tasting for my meat-free friend while his wife had the meat-in variation to order. All the courses were great and we were informed that with 24 hours notice the staff LOVE to do more elaborate and not a la carte tastings. That being said they picked and poached baby cauliflower just for his meal which was a great personal touch. Deserts were wonderful and we couldn't help but share around the table. Cons; These seem almost picky... but the small amount of parking fills up very quickly and as our meal took almost five hours (to the tune of nearly $450 for the four of us) we were actually asked to hurry it along a bit after we paid so they could seat another group by the main female hostess. It's a little thing but it was about the only off-key note on a great night. We'll certainly be back.

    excellent cocktails. shrimp pasta. tasted very homemade. ravioli pasta. bar ambience. very opened. pleasant service. ok: salad appetizer. friend said it was good. the presentation could be a bit more colorful than just a plate of green leaves & cheese on top. quail entree. undercooked. meat was still a bit pink inside. sauce was kind of like hummus. snapper entree. friend said interesting. bad: scallop appetizer. seasoned with too much salt & sauce came with it was a salty olive paste. will we be back? yes. for drinks & pasta & more pasta at a table in the bar.

    Let me preface this review with a few details. I dined at AMIK for the first time on a first date with the chef from their sister restaurant Hog and Hominy. We were shown preferential treatment. But trust me, the food I ate is the food you will eat. Oh heavens. Holy cow. This place is stellar. First, the ambience is perfect. The service is top notch. We were served a tasting menu. I got through 10 courses of mouth watering, slap your momma delicious food before I had to throw in the towel. Not one dish that was placed in front of me was substandard. A few highlights... Brussels sprout salad, poached butterfish, and oh the pastas! Each dish was perfectly paired with a glass of wine. Ask Nick to help you pick one out! He knows his stuff. There were desserts after I couldn't eat any other savory food. Three were served but the one stuck out. Popcorn gelato. A+++. You should dine here. Come hungry and eat as much as you can. This is a great addition to the Memphis culinary scene!

    There's a lot that has to go into a review...way more than just food. We went last evening for my birthday. The food was delicious. The charcuterie platter with an OMG pate was excellent. The pastas were above average. Both the rabbit and the sturgeon entree get very high marks...like NYC marks. The chocolate tart and the mascarpone cheesecake were both worth going back for. However, it's an old house and when all tables are full it's VERY loud. It had no ambience when it was Raji or Garlands. For the price you pay it does seem like they could get a designer to come in and create an ambient mood as memorable as some of the dishes. They told us the egg on the AM Breakfast is a 4 hr. sous vide preparation. You would think if they put that kind of detail in the food they would give some thought to wall color, table settings, art and decorative accessories. We liked our server but she asked us to listen to a VERY long explanation of the menu...mostly telling us what she liked. We didn't ask for help but got lots of explanation that was unnecessary. I'm not sure if there's an expeditor or not but we received one of the three starters and ten minutes later the other three came. We received one of the five pasta dishes and then later the remaining four. We ordered four desserts and actually had enough time to open four wrapped birthday gifts before the coffee came and then we still had to wait for the desserts. Back to my opening statement. My review of the food would be a high 4-star...but everything else that is considered for a review takes it down to a solid 2-star. Awards and cookbooks mean nothing if you can't make the experience worth the $100/person tab.

    Fantastic craft cocktails. I like bourbon so Evan behind the bar recommend Without A Break - smooth, beautiful- it tasted like romance. The am Breakfast appetizer makes one moan out loud. Mezza Luna pasta was puffs of shear delight and the Trout was superb. Leave room for the popcorn gelato - was like a box of Cracker Jacks on a spoon. I go there again and again and again.

    I went for No Menu Monday for my girlfriends 35th Birthday. The concept sounded fun and adventurous. There was a four course meal with wine pairings. The wine pairings were good. I'm not much of a connoisseur but the wines tasted appropriate to me and I appreciate that the wines/pairings were explained to us. The food started with raw oysters. Scary and not for me, but I imagine they were as good as they could get to me. The next two plates were spinach ravioli and pasta in a psuedo spicy marinara sauce. They were average. The entree was, I believe, a braised pork shoulder. Mine was super fatty and served on what imagine was some sort of cous-cous or hummus. Finally, the meal ended with pork rinds and waffles for dessert. Savory and spice is not what I would consider dessert appropriate. The theme here is that I'm not sure what I ate because the food was not presented or explained but rather plopped in front of us. And all in all I would rate the food average especially for the $45/plate price tag. But the real fun of the meal did not begin until around midnight when my stomach cramped and cold sweats began. For the next 4 hours I would proceed to have the most violent vomitting and diarrhea that I have ever experienced. Death is more forgiving than food poisoning! It's currently hour 43 since dining at Andrew Michael and I'm still not 100% after the experience but am finally able to hold down more than chicken broth and Pedialite. Long story short, Andrew Michael expensive/bad; Pedialite delicious and God sent. Save your time and money.

    We came here for our anniversary and I have to say I'm going to stick with my original review... The food here is not that great. I eat everything but the food here was too heavy and bland at the same time. We got the 5 course chef pick.... The best part of the 5 dishes was the caprese salad. They brought out the AM dish with grits, eggs, pork belly and rinds... After a few bites my stomach was so heavy I felt like throwing up. And everything had the same pork/bacon smoked flavor... Starting with my smoked strawberry champagne drink. After that breakfast dish they brought out 3 different raveoli dishes... This was probably the 2nd best part, but nothing amazing that I would crave enough to come back. Our main dish was pork again, with the same smokey hammy/bacon flavor with Lima beans. It was too smokey and bland at the same time. I was very disappointed that the chef picked that as their dish to impress us. Dessert was ok, again nothing amazing. The popcorn ice ceam was good, tastes like salted caramel ice cream I get at miss Cordelia's, the panna cotta was herb infused, I'll give tem credit for creativity. The mixed drinks were ok too nothing amazing, I'm surprised they don't have more Fresh fruit drinks... Next time ill stick with wine if that tells you anything. The server was great, he was attentive and answered all our questions. The meal ended up costing $240 with tip, which I don't mind at all since we eat downtown all the time, but the whole time I was thinking I could have had a way better meal somewhere else for that price or less, or a new clutch. I don't think I'll be coming back again.

    Fantastic. Andrew Michael's is set in a beautiful and rustic home in the heart of East Memphis. Not to sound hyperbolic, but this is some of the best Italian food I've had in years. The pasta is home made, the service is fantastic, and they have my new favorite meatballs. Delicious gelato desserts, and all reasonably priced. Highly Recommended.

    Loved this place for business dinner, but also see it as a great place for a romantic dinner. It's a quaint restaurant in a converted residential home. Food was delicious from the ravioli, cheese appetizers, NY steak dinner, and the chocolate torte dessert. Service was very good as well. Recommend this place for a special dinner out.

    We came to Memphis in December to run in the St Jude Memphis Marathon weekend but the night before the race the event was canceled due to icy conditions. Our group of friends decided to console ourselves with a good meal and this place won. Overall a pricey dinner for the area but worth the splurge. If I'm ever back in Memphis we'll make another! I had the AM breakfast which was one of the tastiest plates I've had in awhile with a perfectly 63 degree sous vide egg, crispy pork belly, creamy grits and pork rinds. If I could have this app every day for breakfast I'd be happy and in need of cholesterol medication. For the pasta course I had the mezza luna which was full of flavor from the veal and shitakes but it is small and I'm not sure I'd get it again. For the grand finale I ordered the chocolate peanut butter torte with the popcorn gelato. If it is on the menu you must order it- the cold, creamy, salty, sweet decadent treat was delightful and five of the six people at our table ordered it and raved about it!

    My wife and I have been several times. We really love this place. Great atmosphere and great service. Pasta was wonderful !, Our reservation took a while. They couldn't seat us for 15-20 mins so we waited in the bar....they gave us free drinks and apologized ....handled it very well. Something's happen but I think it's how they handle it....makes all the difference Great place

    I cannot say enough good things about this place. Great ambiance. Reasonable prices for the quality. We tried the AM breakfast, which is about the richest dish you can imagine and with melt in your mouth, all whilst it melts your heart... and maybe clogs it too, but totally worth it. They also give you some olive spread/tapenade to start with that you will want to slather your life in. We also tried the potato gnocchi, agnolotti, malfatti and the maw maw's ravioli. All were incredible. I have been to Italy multiple times, and I can only think of one place in Italy that was on par with their pasta, Taverna Trilussa in Rome. My dining partner and I were silent most of the meal, there were not words for how great this meal was. I have eaten a few times across the street at Hog & Hominy. Excellent every time. If you are disappointed with Andrew & Michael, you should be disappointed with your taste buds. They are malfunctioning.

    Words can not even begin to express how awesome the food and service was here. We had a bit of a wait (we didn't make reservations), but it was more than worth the wait. Our waitress was the mother of the two boys who own this family run Italian kitchen. After describing each plate we all sat wondering which thing to eat...she did an amazing job explaining the food and making our mouths water. Every single thing we ate was beyond wonderful. If you are in the Germantown area of Memphis I would strongly recommend venturing out into this peculiar area for some excellent food.

    Andrew Michael Review My fiancé and I went to Andrew Michael on Wednesday night along with four of our friends. We were looking forward to eating there because we had heard great things about this restaurant. The atmosphere was decent, but considering that this restaurant is housed in a former residence, there wasn't ample room to move, and it was incredibly loud. Not a deal breaker, right? I was looking forward to an Italian meal and was surprised to see items such as eggs and pork rinds on the menu. I'd say this place serves very non-traditional Italian - or maybe pork rinds are a traditional Italian delicacy, but America has ruined me and has led me to believe that lasagna and manicotti are traditional Italian dishes. Whatever. I decided to satisfy my craving for pasta and ordered a salad and MawMaw's Ravioli. I can't say that after consuming my ravioli I understood why people always spoke so highly of their food, but being amongst good company made me enjoy the experience. The service was pretty good, especially for a busy evening, and a matradee who spoke and dressed like Scott Disick came by and gave us a sales pitch on the menu, so I felt like this restaurant did a good job of tending to customers despite its packed tables. My fiancé ordered a beef entrée, and one of our friends ordered the butterfish. This is where this little story takes a turn for the worse. About 30 minutes after my fiancé paid our $150 bill, he began to get the spins. He broke out into a cold sweat. And then it happened. Anyone who has had food poisoning knows that horrific, clammy, shaky feeling where you're projectile vomiting out of every orifice in your body, praying that God will either make it stop or kill you. All 300 pounds of my fiancé was curled up in the fetal position on my bathroom floor for FOUR HOURS, vomiting so violently that he had to aim for the bathtub because he could not keep it all contained in the toilet. I wanted to take him to the E.R. so that he could get an I.V., but he didn't stop vomiting (and doing the other horrible thing coming from his other hemisphere that I cannot bring myself to type) long enough for me to help him out of the bathroom, much less get him out of my condo, into my car, and to the hospital. I have never, in my entire life, seen a person so violently sick. The following day, dehydrated and sore, my fiancé called his friend who had ordered the butterfish. The butterfish eater was sick within half an hour, too. Our friend looked up his fish online and found several articles warning others not to consume this fish because it is often saturated with harmful bacteria, causing violent vomiting (and other painful bodily reactions). My fiancé called Andrew Michael the following day and spoke with the Scott Disick guy to let him know that he was served bad food and got violently ill the previous evening. The Scott Disick guy was apologetic and told him that someone would call him back that day. NOBODY EVER CALLED MY FIANCE BACK! Now, if you were the owner of a restaurant and knew that one of your customers spent four hours throwing up their $150 meal, wouldn't you call him or her immediately and reimburse them or beg them to give you another try? Wouldn't you do SOMETHING? A word to the wise: avoid this place at all cost, unless you are willing to pay top dollar to drop 10 pounds through your bum hole. I'm being generous by giving these guys one star.

    My husband and I were so excited to be going to Andrew Michael for the first time for our anniversary. We had heard so many great things and were eager to try the food. We made our reservation on Open Table and noted it was our anniversary. When we arrived we were greeted and the hostess told us happy anniversary. We were then seated and promptly given menus and the special. With this being one of the more fine dining establishments in Memphis, I was expecting a little card or a rose or something on the table when we arrived but there was nothing. That was okay, I just figured maybe they would do something special with the dessert. So,I ordered the chuck and the gnocchi along with a lime spritzer. The chuck was phenomenal and cooked to perfection. I was really excited to eat such good tasting food. The gnocchi left a little to be desired. The sauce was tasty but it just seemed like it was lacking something. It could have been because a few days earlier we went to a restaurant and had the truffle butter gnocchi and it was epic so this one didn't even come close. After entrees, we ordered dessert which was really tasty. It was a chocolate type cake with caramel and a little powdery buttery substance that had rich flavor. I was a little disappointed that there was still no acknowledgement of our anniversary on the dessert plate at all. I was still like no biggie maybe they will take the dessert off the final bill or provide the spritzer free. Nope not at all. I think with this being a higher end restaurant that they should make a special acknowledgement of your celebration especially when they know. It's a special added touch that I've noticed that higher end restaurants add. When we were in Denver at Guard and Grace restaurant they provided two glasses of champagne upon arrival and also nice wording on the dessert as well as a card signed by some of the employees. I hope that Andrew Michael will take note and try to specialize the experience when their customers are celebrating something special. The food was great but it just needs that last touch.

    Recently, I was able to knock a prominent entry from my to-do list when I went to Andrew Michael Italian Kitchen with my husband and a good friend. Andrew Michael Italian Kitchen is the brainchild of Andrew Ticer and Michael Hudman, childhood friends and lifelong culinarians. After culinary school and various internships, they returned home to Memphis to create the restaurant of their dreams. That restaurant serves savvy Italian fare: perfectly prepared meats, handmade pastas and sauces crafted from family traditions. When you visit Andrew Michael (and you definitely should), be adventurous and think outside the box. You won't regret it. We sampled several appetizers, starting with the A/M salad. As far as salads go, this one was quite tasty. Greens were lightly dressed with a shallot vinaigrette and balsamic reduction with a dollop of buffalo mozzarella and tomato confit. I wish it had more tomato and mozzarella, but otherwise, it was delicious. We also had the truffled chicken livers with crostini. I'm not a chicken liver fan, but this version had white wine and garlic which definitely improved the flavor. My husband loved them and claimed that it was the best chicken liver dish he'd ever had. Our next dish was rabbit, which included the white and dark meat, rabbit terrine and morels in a light cream sauce. I had a bite of the white meat and thought, "wow, that's tasty." But when I tasted the dark meat, I was floored. It was absolutely delicious - well-cooked and expertly seasoned. We also ordered the A/M Breakfast Yummy is the only word to describe this dish. A pile of creamy polenta topped with barbecued pork belly, poached egg and housemade pork rinds. I broke the egg open, mixed it with the polenta and then ate spoonfuls of the mixture with small bites of the pork belly. I tried to make it last as long as possible and savor every bite. It was truly extraordinary. The only (slight) disappointment of the night was the gnocchi with gorgonzola cream This appetizer-sized portion of pasta was very tasty. The creaminess of the sauce was offset by the balsamic reduction, and the flavors were very well-balanced. However, the texture of the gnocchi had slid passed soft and pillowy and into the mushy category. It didn't stop us from cleaning the plate. If there is a cannoli on the menu, I generally have to order it, and this evening was no exception. The pastry shell was the super light and crispy. The filling, while creamy, was almost completely devoid of sugar as the dish garnered its sweetness from the raspberry coulis decorating the plate. This kept the cannoli from being too sweet, and again my husband remarked that it was the best he'd had. Final Impressions: Go early or make a reservation. This restaurant, which appears to be set in an old house, is on the small side. The quality is amazing, but the prices are a little on the higher side. They have a good, reasonably-priced wine list and would be an excellent date night destination.

    BLOWN AWAY! Words fail me. Went there this past Friday night due to a recommendation of my sister and could not believe how good it was. This place has EARNED all its accolades for good reason. It's simply the best Italian food I have ever eaten. Started with a fresh tomato salad that was grown by local growers. Moved on to the famous Ravioli (at this point I was in heaven) the I moved over to the Hogfish snapper. Everything was perfect. I had actually sat at the bar as I was solo and when the bartender told me of the Snapper he said "If you don't like it I will pay for your dinner". Yeah, he knew it was a remarkable fish..but also how well they prepare it there. I've had other 'authentic' (non box store) Italian restaurants and always just a mediocre experience. THIS place has redefined what Italian food can be. The Italian box stores have their place in the food chain but if you are looking for the best Italian food in the area...this is your place. If you are looking for one of the best restaurants in Memphis...this is the place. The Ravioli....oh the ravioli! OH MY! Nothing can touch that ravioli! I was stuffed after the snapper. The bartender asked me if I left room for dessert. I said NO but based on how great everything else was....I had to try the cheesecake. I was not disappointed. Now know this. The portions are NOT big ole huge plate fulls. This is a modern restaurant with sensible portions. The menu is designed to have a bit from each 'section' of the menu. You WILL drop some coin in this place, so unless you are wealthy, this will become a place for special occasions.

    Andrew Michael is my favorite restaurant in Memphis. I have been there several times and have never been disappointed with experience. Their Maw Maw's ravioli is delicious, and their gnocchi is incredible. For the entree portion of the meal I have gotten the pork (different cuts each time) and most recently the veal. Juicy and tender are the words that come to mind but mostly because when I begin eating, words stop and only taste exists. For dessert I've had the mascarpone cheesecake which is rich, smooth and definitely worth a try. I've also gotten the chocolate torte with popcorn gelato and pistachio dust. This is a perfectly balanced dessert if you are a fan of salty and sweet. The chocolate torte with layers of peanut butter is very sweet, throw in the popcorn gelato for that bit of salt and it is top notch. It can be a pricey dinner but one that is well worth it.

    4.25 stars. I've been here twice now (both weeknights, with other couples) and it's a solid choice, but something that I can't put my finger on is preventing me from giving it a perfect 5. The menu changes seasonally and everything I have tasted has been great, especially the starters and the pastas. Particular stand-outs include the A/M Breakfast (pork rinds, poached egg, and pork belly), the recent scallop appetizer (with fried brussel sprouts and bacon), the antipasto plate, and the potato gnocci. I'm also a fan of their bread service with olive oil, balsamic, and olive tapenade. I guess the structure of the menu is what is holding me back. It is designed for each couple to order a starter, a pasta, and two entrees. If you follow that formula (and have wine), expect to be in the $150 range for two people -- which just seems a little much for Italian comfort food. On our last visit, the wife and I ordered a starter and split three pastas -- which worked better for us -- and kept the bill well under $100. I wish they would offer their pasta dishes in two sizes: side course and main course. Nonetheless, I can't think of a better Italian option in Memphis.

Our waitress Vicki was friendly with a southern charm and very knowledgeable and enthusiastic on the menu. Loved the fact that they use local, fresh ingredients. We had the cheese plate, gnocchi which was prepared to perfection, and the grouper which had an excellent sauce, but was slightly underdone. We finished with a cannoli which was very authentic italian. Very pleasant evening all around. Highly recommend it to anyone.

    My husband and I are visiting from LA and read about AM Italian in the Food and Wine issue with the Best New Chefs. We had made a reservation and were seated immediately (nice). The decor is fine--sort of blah. Tables look worn, and wish they would add a flower or a more impressive candle to the table. And, you know, the serving dishes were okay, but disappointed that we were given cafeteria style bread plates to share the courses. Need to step that up a notch. We both ordered a cocktail off their menu--I had the peachy bourbon drink and my husband had the tequila cocktail. We had to wait FOREVER for them to come out and they were both meh (note to restaurants: get the drinks out fast!! Everything else can wait!). They needed more depth of flavor--they sounded great, but were just sort of bland. The bread was bread--nothing at all special--and did not come until our appetizers came. We had the AM Breakfast app which was delicious, although the pork rinds were sort of an unnecessary addition--wasn't sure what to do with them. The caprese salad was nice and fresh--loved that their were 5 varieties of tomatoes, and homemade mozzarella (another note: please add more cheese to this dish!). We had the marubini pasta which was delicious! Loved the sauce (a little heavy on it), and the mixture of textures. A very fresh tasting pasta and just the right size to share as it is very rich. We had the Newman Farm pork, again shared, which we thought was a huge portion (just right, again, to share). Again, we loved it, loved the sliced peaches on top which was nice with a bite of pork. We each had a glass (or two) of wine. Again, had to wait forever for the wine--they definitely need to add a bartender, or he/she needs to speed it up. We were so full, but the waiter, who was great, talked us into a trio of gelato. We had the fig/balsamic (okay), chocolate raspberry (eh--it's been done to death) and the popcorn. Uh, the popcorn gelato is AMAZING!! I am going to rush home and try to duplicate it (I will be the hit of the party if I can pull it off!). So, you know, our meal was solid and enjoyable. We liked the recommendations and probably had the highlights of the menu. Things were a little heavily salted (which made me want that drink faster!), but good. I would like to see on our next visit to Memphis things just stepped up a notch, and maybe a little more adventure in the cocktail and food menus. Andy and Michael definitely have it in them! And, SERVE THE POPCORN GELATO BY ITSELF!

    This place is GOOD. I had heard a few so/so reviews, so maybe it depends on what you order or how long you wait in line. Let me save you some time. Make a reservation, then go to eat and drink well. My wife and I started with cocktails. I had the Old Memphis (an updated old fashioned) while she had the Tennessee Mule (a Moscow Mule made with their own homemade ginger beer) BOTH were great. Ordered a bottle of Chianti with dinner, so we were feeling no pain. Still could taste though, so I can assure you the gnocchi and the chicken liver were each as good as the other reviews say they are. After some more time, she had the lamb as an entree to rave reviews. I had the duck breast - I repeatedly can't believe how succulent that dish is in the hands of good chef. These can't be the same birds I bring home from Arkansas. Regardless, get the duck breast. Finished off with a chocolate torte, (C'mon, we're celebrating a birthday here). So good. Even nice enough to decorate the plate with a Happy Birthday message that I had forgotten I had mentioned when I made the reservation. All in all, great night, great place and I look forward to going back.

    My husband and I were really looking forward to this dinner, and were really disappointed. We had read about the chefs, dedication to local food, member of Project Greenfork, but the food really lacked flavor and balance. The A/M breakfast was too heavy for an appetizer. The flavors were good, but it was very greasy. The soup of the night was roasted tomato and it was the best thing we tasted all night, with a nice tomato and garlic flavor. For entrees, my husband had the pork that was overcooked and the accompaniments were not very flavorful. I had the pasta with butternut squash rounds that was undercooked and not seasoned. Our server wasn't very attentive and so we didn't feel like staying for dessert. Generally when we eat out, especially when spending a lot for a dinner, we like to eat food that is better than what we can cook at home. We didn't feel that we got that experience at AMK. I grew up in the northeast where there are a lot of Italian restaurants and this just doesn't measure up. The food wasn't terrible but it also wasn't very good.

    "Martini w dirty olive ice cube. Antipasti meats n cheese- lil on slim side w portions on that- but excellent quality. Great service- slow in a good way! make a nice leisurely night of it. Decent gnocchi. Big tasty lamb chop. melon and prosciutto- great flavor. am breakfast was terrific. Well worth the visit- I will be back

    If you haven't been to this place you are missing out on the best Italian food in Memphis. This is real Italian food not chain style Italian. All pasta dishes are handmade and sauces are fresh and not overpowering. Must try food: maw maws ravioli, duck breast, any pork dish, fish is great as well, and AM breakfast. Chefs: these are two of the best in the city, very innovative and creative with their dishes,. If you want a real treat go the last Monday of the month, for No Menu Monday, this a meal the chefs prepare and you don't find out what they prepare until after the meal, it's fun to try and guess what they have made and what you are eating.

    Bumped my family off the reservation list 2 hours before our scheduled time, to make room for their "regulars." I've been there before, and the food was good, but unfortunately won't be back. Disappointing.

    This is THE spot to go if you have ANYTHING to celebrate in Memphis. Any occasion will do. The food, drink, service and ambiance all lead to an experience that will make your night. The food was so good I considered ordering some to go. In a shameless moment of gluttony, I doubled up on Maw Maw's Ravioli and the Potato Gnocchi. I say shameless because I was completely blown away by both dishes. Delicious. Our server was exceptionally nice and refreshingly knowledgeable about the food, the wine and the Memphis restaurant scene in general. I could not picture a better place to enjoy dinner than at Andrew Michael and cannot wait until I get the chance to return to my happy feasting ground!

    Wow, the chefs are geniuses at this restaurant. My girlfriend had a bad day at work and made a reservation to Andrew Michael to cheer her up. She started with the gnocchi. The gnocchi came in cream sauce topped with arugula. The texture and softness of gnocchi was just right and the bitterness of arugula pair with cream sauce was perfect. I had the A/M breakfast. I love pork belly and a running egg. I think A/M was reading my mind. The contrast of crunchy pork rinds and pork belly with soft grits and running eggs was heaven for me. Entree, she had the beef. It was cooked perfectly with a beef broth risotto. The risotto was amazing. I had the fish. The redfish was delicious with pickled cabbage, onions. Dessert, she had the cheesecake made from marscapone cheese. She really like it. It had a nice contrast of sour and sweetness. I had the chocolate torte. It was chocolate with peanut butter topped with ice cream and pistachio dirt. The dessert only get better bite after bite. The star in the dessert was the popcorn gelato with caramel. We had a great time here and A/M definitely cheered my girlfriend up. I'm glad to see they support project green fork. The best dish for me that night was the A/M Breakfast. I can happily eat that dish everyday.

    C'mon you Memphis Yelpers - this is the place! Perfectly fresh and seasoned fig salad. Corn soup with salted blueberries and shrooms will make you go mad it is that good. Shrimp gnocchi, although not my waiter's top choice, was very good. A/C struggled a bit in the bar.

    Our son took us there with great anticipation for a fine Italian meal. unfortunately, the menu was not representative of what we come to expect from an Italian restaurant. After our delightful waitress (Vicky) embellished the entire menu, we made our selections. The special soft shell crab was just that a single soft shell crab of minimum proportion and minimum taste . The pasta dish was mixed with asparagus with very little sauce and less flavor. This is an overly pretensious that didn't deliver anything but a hefty bill at the end. We had to go out to. Local eatery in midtown to get some apps to fill our empty stomachs. Service was 5 star but save your money and go to any other well rated restaurant.

    Another good dinner at Andrew Michael Italian Kitchen. In addition to A/M Salad and Duck Breast, the following dishes were ordered. Starters: Crispy Quail Salad was excellent. Quail was served on a bed of frisse permeated with a right amount bacon vinaigrette. Quail meat was soft juicy. Scallops with fresh peas and vegetables were perfectly prepared and balanced. Green and white asparagus tips were blanched al dente. Main course I found Butternut Squash Agnolotti delightful. This pasta seems to combine two opposite qualities: light and rich. Tangy orange-tasting sauce and crisp apple slaw cut sweet richness of pasta and crab meat.

    You know it is well received when you see first, second, third, and fourth generation Italians frequenting this truly authentic "cucina familiare" (family kitchen). Andy and Michael are examples of two guys from seperate families who have grown up like brothers and who are living their dream together. They have each taken the teachings of their immigrant Grand Parents, who smothered them with "amore tavolo di cucina" (kitchen table love) while growing up and are now sharing those teaching for all to experience in Andrew Michael's family dining room at one of their "tabelle di cucina d'amore" (kitchen tables of love) where even the kids have a seat at the "tabella adulto" (grown-up table). The food and atmosphere will remind you of going to Nonnie's for Sunday dinner. When you visit Andrew Michael Italian Kitchen, keep a look out for the neices (the girlie girls as they are affectionately called) and the nephews (the nick names of which vary with the personalities). You are for sure to see a Paw Paw, Poppa, Pops, Maw Maw, Nonnie, Nonna, or Nonno too! Mom and Dad Ticer and Mom and Dad Hudman, their Mothers are Italian and their Dads who have been Italianized can be seen regularily too. From the appetizers, soups, salads, and sides to the regularily and seasonally changing entrees and ever varying and plentiful dessert choices, all are freshly prepared from scratch daily using freshly picked locally grown ingredients. We have never been disappointed and are always not ever surprised by anything less than consistent quality, care, richness, and precision with which these two master chefs and their well trained wait staff and souse chefs prepare and present truly authenic Italian Food Fare. Great wine selection by the glass and bottle. There are always generous pours from the bar along with a varied selection of imported and domestic beers. We are regulars for life! This is a classy, classic, and truly authentic family kitchen
