I was having these strange cravings for some cupcakes when i visited Knoxville. I'm not talking about the dinky-sized ones. My stomach and taste buds were aching for the real deal. My life changed when once I stepped into KupKatie's KupKakes.... I'm not from TN, but I'm glad i found Katie. Her cupcakes were very tasteful and fun. i think i remember myself purchasing 3 cupcakes. One cupcake is so fulfilling, but will get you wanting more. I had their Strawberry cream, PB chocolate and Red Velvet. I ate the Red Velvet first and i was dunzo. But I started chowing down on the Strawberry cream because i was so curious to know how it tasted. I probably even took a bite of the PB Chocolate. The pastries chef's friend was there and she was so sweet - just like the cupcakes.

After a quick run out for lunch, my boyfriend and I decided to look up a few cupcake places because we wanted to treat ourselves to dessert. We had gone to another shop before Kupkatie's but had left because of the small selection of flavors. Let me just say that we were severely disappointed and let down by the decision to go to Kupkatie's. Most of the cupcakes did look pretty but the Boston Creme cupcake looked like it needs an image revamp. It looked brutal. It's not something that I would be content putting in a case and selling. My boyfriend said it looked like a 5 year old had frosted it and he wasn't lying. We normally go for Coconut and Carrot Cake but they didn't have either choice so we went with Lemonade & Boston Creme. We bit into our cupcakes and everything on mine was awful. Even though it looked unappealing, I chose the Boston Creme cupcake. Well, the cake was too dense and too dry, the filling tasted like vanilla pudding from a box, and the frosting wasn't anything special. My boyfriend bit into his Lemonade cupcake and his was dry as well. He seemed to like the frosting but he said the cake was super dry and dense as well. He was convinced that they were old cupcakes out for sale. We ended up throwing them away and left with a sour taste in our mouths. I tend to think I'm a harsh critic because I've worked the restaurant business most of my life. However, if you are charging customers a pretty penny for your product, you should definitely put your best foot forward. I will say that the atmosphere and the staff was excellent. Whether it was a bad day or just bad luck, we won't be returning. There's so much competition out there to waste time on one spot that couldn't get it right the first time.

Recently I purchased two cupcakes and they both tasted dry and stale. However in the past I have had really great ones. Not sure if it was a fluke that they tasted old or if the quality has gone hill.

I love KupKaties KupKakes! The best cupcakes in Maryville! The service is great! Everytime I go to KupKaties, I have a hard time deciding which cupcakes to get because they all look so delicious. The sales person is always so patient and helpful in helping decide what to get. This is my favorite cupcake bakery by far!!!!!!!!!

For sure the place to go when you need a cupcake fix. Each day she does 10 flavors so be ready to make multiple trips! I had the birthday cake flavor and it was great! After I took my first bite though she brought out a orange dream one that made me totally regret my decision! They also do the reward card so after 10 you get one free. This is a must stop if you are in the area and to be honest it's worth the drive from knoxville.

What a great little place! We started going here when I broke my foot in March 2011. They had opened fairly recently, and their selection was VERY small. But delicious! We started a sad little tradition of coming here after all my orthopedic appointments...kind of a bright spot in a rough recovery process. They have apparently gotten more popular over the last three months, and it's easy to see why - their cupcakes are awesome! They have the most interesting flavors too...I've had margarita (yummy), spice cake with peanut butter frosting (sounds weird, but it was good), key lime pie, strawberry shortcake. Their "normal" flavors are delicious too - wedding cake is one of my favorites: white cake with white buttercream. Simple and elegant.

This place is freaking amazing! From the small, clean, little bakery-style atmosphere to the UNBELIEVABLE cupcakes this local bakery has the potential and the baking "chops" to stand against the incredible places in NYC!
