Great little place! Very fresh fish and great presentations. Inventive rolls... I had the Cry Roll and the Hot Mama roll. Both were wonderful! I especially liked the Hot Mama because of the hot sauce on top... Will definitely be back!

My go to sushi on Friday nights. Is the best in Nashville....no. Is it the most affordable, fresh and close to my house....yes. Go for it.

This is my favorite place to go. I love the sushi rolls and in my opinion they have the BEST fried rice. My favorite is the Hermitage roll. The prices are really good for the quality of food. The service is good, I really like the people who works there. They are nice to me and my family.

Down the interstate from us, this little hole in the wall place I was mentioned to me by one of my supervisors at work and really is quite good. The sushi is fresh and the quality is solid. However, service could use a little improvement, especially given how small they are. Overall a great place to go for a nice sushi selection without going way out of the way to get it.

Great place for lunch. Very good and quick. The prices are better then most place I have gone to.

about what you'd expect when you see it from the outside. Food was pretty good, but it is not Samurai in Nashville by any means. They do have some really good deals for lunch, though.

Taki is such an unassuming place because it's in a strip with Subway and a tan place, but Taki has never disappointed me any time I've been. I always order rolls here and they're great every time. The staff is pleasant and the prices are quite decent for sushi!

Arigato Taki for always serving fresh sushi made to order. Delicious and nutritious!

This place is small and you could almost miss it! They have an unusually large amount of items on the menu to look over. I didn't know there were so many different sushi combinations! The lighting was rather dim, so it took me a few minutes to read the items. I had the vege fried rice, Tofu garlic & peppers, and Thai Style tofu. All were very good. The fried rice was very tasty even with brown rice! The garlic noodles were nice and spicy, just like I expected, and had lots of veges. The Thai Style tofu was also good. You get a lot of food for the price and service was quick and friendly!

I really like this place. All I've had here is sushi. Because I love sushi and they have a great selectjon, priced from 5 to 10 dollars per roll. I've eaten here about three times since moving to the area a month ago. Service is usually efficient. The food tastes wonderful. Addressing other reviewers comments, they do usually have the kids here. Can't imagine how boring it is as a kid to hang out at your parents restaurant all the time! It never bothers me seeing them there. Also, they have to go menus. You can call an order in and it will be made ready for pick up!!

The food was cold when it arrived. The taste was mediocre, nothing special. The lady came 2x to check and gave the check. Definitely won't be coming back.

Let's start off by saying that I'm not a huge fan of Asian food especially sushi, but I do occasionally try noodle, veggie, or chicken dishes. Well we came here since my boyfriend loves sushi and he was really hungry at the time. They had good prices on their sushi, it wasn't the greatest he's had but he was satisfied and would recommend it. I on the other hand had noodles with vegetables. It was so scrumptious that my boyfriend helped me finish it. They were generous on the sauce, noodles, AND veggies none of which I had to be picky about (and if you ask any body they'll tell you that it's revolutionary for me)!!! Everything tasted delicious and it was worth the price for what they put in there. It also didn't take super long to have the food out, it was just the right time I personally would have needed in order to make it at home! I also knew it was fresh not just because of the veggies but also because I heard sizzling and cooking from the kitchen. The staff was nice but there seemed to be a language barrier for some of the employees but it didn't really bother me since they smiled all the time anyway. And what I thought was kind of them to do is when they serve you soda they don't have a fountain machine since it's a small restaurant so they open cans but they make sure they have a tall glass full of ice to put it in before they serve it to you, instead of just giving you a can like a lot of other places I've been to. Overall I would personally recommend it to people and I will definitely be back there some time soon. Just be aware that when you walk in you kinda have to sit yourself unless someone comes up to you. But I don't mind, I'm used to it :]

I can't believe we lived here for a year without finding Taki. It's pretty delicious for such a small, casual place. We've had their dumplings, sushi rolls, sashimi, and pad thai, and it was all good! I'm probably going to stick with the pad thai from here on out, because it was uber-delicious. about $25 for two people - which isn't bad for sushi.

I fear sushi places outside of California. Primarily because they tend to douse the rolls with sauces or deep fry them. For my first visit, I played it safe and ordered a chicken teriyaki bento box -- substituting the CA roll with a spicy tuna roll. Much to my dismay, the roll had a mayo-based spicy sauce in it, and deep fried tempera batter in the roll as well. As far as the other items, the miso soup was bland, and the sauce on the teriyaki was watery. With that said, the service was quick, and the prices were reasonable. I hate to crush a place off of a first visit, so I'll go back.

We love the sushi here, but my heart breaks for that poor child that is there every single time I have every been in there. I wish they could find a sitter. But we still support our local business owners..But hope they will help this little guy have a memorable childhood..I give it a 3 for support of the food and business, but a zero to support the child..

I absolutely LOVE this place. The food is amazing! It tastes so authentic. To me, this is THE BEST place in east Nashville. And the sushi is incredible. (I have only tried the vegetarian kind, but I have heard the other kinds are just as delicious).

I absolutely love Taki - even though I have moved to North Carolina I come to Nashville every 6 weeks for business and make sure and stop by! They remember my entire order and let me know about specials. Their seaweed salad is a generous portion compared to other "better known" sushi restaurants and the seafood is very very fresh. And if you visit in the summer you might meet their young son, a real cutiepie. Trust me, super tasty!

    I am ashamed to say all that I would do to get my hands on a fire dragon roll from Taki. It's a hole in the wall sushi joint, but once you step in and get to taste you'll come back at least once every other day. My coworker introduced Taki to me and I wish he had not since I don't live In the city anymore and can't get my normal fix. The service isn't the best, they have their children run around, haha. I'm use to it because my family friend owned a oriental restaurant/store and did the same. Ultimately, the food is what I come for so service doesn't have to be the best. I normally order 4 orders of the fire dragon roll. It has a little kick to it and it will not disappoint. Hopefully, I will be able to reunite with a roll or two in the near future ); Please visit and order my favorite so I can live vicariously through you for a moment ;(;

It's a nice little spot in Hermitage. It is truly a little spot. About 15 tables all close together and a counter for hibachi. We were here for an early (5:30) dinner on a Sunday. When we walked in there was only one other table. If is very informal and they just call to you where to sit. For a seemingly empty restaurant with two employees (server and chef) it was pretty slow to order and get drinks, but not an issue as I wasn't in a hurry. My friend had the miso soup which she really enjoyed. Her sushi came out first. A full 15 minutes before mine. At least. Being the polite person that she is she waged for me to get my food. The sushi was good. Nothing special, then again I only get tried and true rolls that I refer to as "starter sushi". I purposely ordered a lot to take some home for lunch (and more) the next day. Veggie roll, spicy shrimp roll, the Philly roll, and a California roll. It was I think $20 (with tax) for all of that, so definitely reasonable. This was my second visit to this place and will surely be back. By the time we left it was an almost full restaurant. I did notice they do a big take out business. Several people came in for orders and knew the drill (and staff) so they have a lot of repeat customers.

I decided to get some sushi to go after work on the way home. Beforehand I'd checked out on here and the reviews seemed favorable. I am a little annoyed that it's 2015 and this place doesn't have website, Facebook, blogspot with their menu listed. I was going to call on the way over to pick it up to speed up the process, but alas, I had to stop in and look at the menu then place my order. As some of the other reviewers stated, this place isn't that grand from the outside or the inside. I entered the restaurant around 6pm on a Monday. There were two people waiting on a to go order, and the rest of the people were employees or children of employees. This is a family run business, which is great, but I don't know if I would want to eat here with a tablet loudly playing. The woman who greeted me from behind the counter, or yelled from behind the counter asked what I needed. I told her I was going to place a carryout order and she told me where the menus were. I skimmed the menu and decided on the 'roll combo' which comes with a tuna roll, California roll and a yellowtail roll. It's an 18 piece deal for $11.99. I didn't see the part about the 18 piece, so I thought each roll was 8 pieces, but instead they are 6 pieces. I sat at the bar and waited for the order to be completed. It only took about 5-7 minutes for me to be out the door. The staff wasn't that friendly. I didn't feel that welcome at all. I headed home with my dinner. I was happy to see that they put a piece of cardboard between the sushi and the soup/salad so the hot soup doesn't make the sushi warm. I don't think the cardboard was useful though because the sushi was on the warm side. I popped it in the fridge for a little to cool it down. My thoughts on the rolls? They were average at best. I liked that they gave you a fair amount of ginger. The wasabi was not very spicy. I really don't have much else to say on the sushi itself. I have had sushi from a cheap, Chinese buffet that is on par with this sushi. I'm not sure if I came at an off time or if it's always like this. I don't think I will be back to try it again though.

The reviews were correct. I had a terrible experience here. The waitress was really rude and nasty. I told her that I didn't want crab sushi but she kept insisting. She never refilled my drink and didn't give me the time of day to look me in the face. I was so disgusted. I will never return here again. I will saw that the other staff members were gentle and the ginger dressing for the salad was good. The sushi was ok, nothing special.

If you go by the looks , the place does not make it. Food was a different story, Enjoy the food today, sushi (red dragon... Hot mama)was really good. Get a Sapporo to cool off the Jalapeno.

  • Andrea C.

I live in the area and I've been eating here for years. I've yet to have a bad experience at Taki. They offer good sushi as well as Thai and Chinese food options all for a very reasonable price. The atmosphere is non existing. Definitely not a date place, but I rather eat here and support a family owned business rather than a big mediocre chain restaurant. The food is always good and the people are too.

  • Chris D.

I always come here to eat my sushi rolls. There quality of sushi, I would put up against any sushi downtown (Virago's). There price of rolls is very manageable to be able to leave there with a full stomach. Great place!!! I eat here at least once a week...

Found this place through a brochure at our hotel and decided to check it out. One word: YEAH. The ambience wasn't great, but the food was! We got there at 9:00, a half hour before close. The food was hot and served quickly, sushi was fresh, and my husband said it was some of the best fried rice he'd had in a while. It's family owned, and they were very friendly. I wouldn't hesitate to go here again.

  • Missie K.

Best sushi ever! Food is always fresh and delicious. I got here twice a week. Servers aren't friendly and to the point. I don't care. With food this good you don't have to be nice. I always tip even on take out and always leave happy.

Not bad for Hermitage! Small inconspicuous location, in a shopping center, which worried me. But it was packed when we walked in and we got the last available table. Only about 6 or 8 tables, and a small bar. Service was subpar, but I'm pretty sure it's family owned considering a boy about 8 years old took our drink order. We each ordered three rolls, and we loved them all except the Volcano... Beware, it comes on a bed of tin foil and is covered in melted cheese. A little odd for sushi. But overall, very tasty!

  • Caitlin G.

I loved this little place! It's definitely a hole in the wall, but certainly a hole in the wall that I'm happy I found! I just recently moved to Nashville and was looking for a great sushi spot that isn't Virago (though, I love it there). I just wanted something closer to my house and more reasonably priced! It appears to be a family owned restaurant. They are all pretty friendly. For the most part, I usually just order take out because it's so tiny in there. Their sushi was great. I've only tried a few of the same ones over and over again: TN roll, Shrimp Crunch, Crunchy Crab, and California roll. Their all phenomenal. Their fried rice is BOMB. I always get chicken fried rice with no onions. Ugh. So delicious! I definitely recommend to any sushi lovers in the Hermitage area!

  • Daysha M.

Love this little hole in the wall place! Every time I have gone, which has been a lot, the food has always been great & fresh. I also love the fact that the owner's children are usually in there hanging out, doing school work, etc. Their young son has even been our waiter at times & he is hilarious! Favorite items: bam bam poppers, hermitage special roll, & the pad Thai. So good! Highly recommend this place. Especially if you are looking for a chill, good place to eat.

I had never heard of this place until I found it on Yelp, when my husband and I were looking for dinner options one Sunday night. There is minimal seating, but the decor is very pretty. I ordered three different rolls that were all delicious and fresh...and the presentation was very pretty! The only negative was the wait...it seemed to take forever just for the waitress to bring our drinks and take our order. I would love to come back and try more of their food!

  • Bethany W.

We visited Taki on a quiet Monday night. Though the atmosphere isn't a selling point of the place, the service was friendly and quick. I opted for the peanut avocado roll and the sweet potato roll; both were great vegetarian picks beyond the typical cucumber roll! The prices are very reasonable, and, by the time we left, the place had filled up, seemingly with several regulars who were joined by the owners' children.

    (4)
  • Joshua L.

This place was great! My wife had tempura and I had the chicken and rice (love chicken rice by the way) and both dishes were on point! I will definitely stop by again

Sushi very very good and they made a salad for me they way I love it which is the house saad with seaweed salad on top! And the server ivory she is so amazing and quick !

  • Ashley G.

Good sushi. Good service. Usually some child at the sushi bar watching tv loudly or running around but that's ok, I take it to go! Cooked entrees not great but edible. Lunch menu full of great deals.

    (3)
  • Brian H.

This place is not bad at all it's a very typical mom and pops joint, however if you are a sushi snob Avoid! Atmosphere is horrible it's a much a take out place as a dine in restaurant. Food is not bad but we only eat here as a last resort as Nashville has some tremendous sushi options. This place is only suitable when quick and easy out weighs driving for the good stuff.

    (2)
  • Kristina C.

Small family owned restaurant and you can listen to the family fighting through your entire meal. Sushi is very fresh but hot entrees are similar to what you would find the food court at a mall.

    (2)
  • Clayton M.

I really enjoyed it. The Hermitage Special Roll is a must have. Sure it's not the best in town but it is head and shoulders above at least half of those in Nashville.

    (4)
  • Emily W.

I've never had a bad experience. Their sushi is fresh and full of flavor every time. When getting the sushi to go they are wonderful at adding the needed necessities...soy sauce, chop sticks...

    (5)
  • Richard W.

I am a transplant from the west coast and have had many great sushi experiences. I will start this review off with the food, it is appropriately priced for the quality of the product you receive. My girlfriend, not being a sushi fan, often gets one of their teriyaki plates of which I sample when she has some leftover and it has never disappointed. As for me, I get sushi of all sorts from spicy tuna hand rolls to yellow tail sashimi and I usually finish off with unagi. The fish has always been enjoyable and I have no complaints, possibly the best I have had away from the Pacific Ocean. As for ambiance do not go expecting a romantic dinner and for that matter don't go thinking it will be a quiet place to dine. More often than not there is a young boy in the restaurant (I believe the owners son) who can get loud and winey. That being said we do not leave this establishment having spent 100+ bucks even if we both have a beer or two so it's not as if we are annoyed to the point of never returning. Good food but because of the service and child left to his own devices we often say do you want Tacky for dinner tonight? Without the child = 4 stars!

  • Casey H.

The place was clean and the decoration was nicely appointed. Had the udon here. It was pretty flavorless and it was about $12. It was pretty empty on a Thursday night and the food came out pretty quick.

    (2)
  • Fletch M.

Very small, a little kid runs around and makes a lot of noise, and the lady taking orders is rude and nasty. That being said, I get my sushi to go and enjoy it every time. The prices are better than Publix or Kroger and the sushi is much better. I will continue to order my sushi to go and remain very happy.

  • Noe L.

Taki's is a great place to get great tasting sushi. The restaurant is always really clean and the host is always really friendly. They close really early on the weekends, around 9. The prices are really cheap especially compared to Sakura's or Kois, and the food is better. They also have a few chinese options just in case you're hanging out with someone who doesn't like sushi. Taki's is definitely the place to get sushi in the Hermitage area, and if you're in Nashville the 20 minute drive is worth it.

I love this place! I've never had anything here that was bad. Everything always tastes fresh. The fried rice is awesome!

***Update*** I had previously loved this place, but tonight we found bones in our yellowtail rolls. Two different rolls had this issue. And, it was not the first time. We found bones in the yellowtail wasabi roll about three months ago. But the owners were so apologetic when I called, so we gave them another shot. Tonight when I called to let them know, and to warn them about the fish before they served another customer who could choke, the owner didn't even apologize, he just told me to have a good day. Never. Going. Back.

Freshest, best sushi in Mt. Juliet! AND THEY DELIVER! Highly recommended!

Ordered from them many times. Food was decent (3 star-ish). Unfortunately, they appear to have gone down hill. Twice I've found bones in the sushi and I can't accept that from a sushi place. I won't be returning.

So my wonderful date and I chose Taki on a whim having never been there. We really like to enjoy good food together and so that's what we strive for. And we both agree 100% that this is the new spot. Low lit lights, intimate atmosphere, polite service. The presentation was nice and everything we ordered was very delicious! Highly recommend to anyone looking for a great Sushi restaurant!

I haven't had better sushi anywhere in the Ville. This is not your romantic dinner date spot nor does it pretend to be. It's just good. The sushi is right sized, right priced and tasty. Hands down the best seaweed salad in town. Don't expect amazing service, occasionally the son of the owner is around throwing a tantrum (he's young) but what you get is good sushi.

Nestled in an unassuming strip mall, next to a payday advance store, sits "Taki", a delicious and classy sushi place. I was a first timer a few days ago, and now have devoted my life to telling people about this place. But seriously...it's wonderful.

Sushi is amazing! Restaurant is small and personal. Good amount of choices. Prices are decent. Did I mention the sushi is amazing?!

We ate here on a stopover during our trek to the new digs. On account of the road trip, I thought we might, well....stink. So we needed a place that we could get our stuff to go. We called our order in, and it was ready in less than 10 minutes for pick up. We played it safe, and ordered a Cali roll, a crunchy crab roll (basically a crab salad roll with crunch on top), and a salmon roll. Being that we were just stoped in town for the night, I wasn't expecting too much. However, it was pretty durn tasty. The ingredients were fresh, and the rice was very well done. Of the three rolls, I think I enjoyed the crunch roll the most. The salmon roll was also good, and the salmon was fresh. The cost was also reasonable (less than 12 bucks for three rolls). If we were ever in this town again (although the odds of me winning the lottery - and I rarely play- are higher) I would eat here again. Not too shabby.

I was driving around during my lunch hour to find something different and saw Taki. I was not greeted, which is fine. I sat down at the bar and a waiter said "do you know what you want?" before handing me the menu. I asked for a to-go menu and he said its the same menu. No problem. I ordered chicken teriyaki w/fried rice and salad to go. It was a mere 15 min wait and the order was less than $8. I was tempted to order sushi but was not in the mood. The place is small and clean looking. The waiters were very nice..to other folks. The teriyaki sauce was watery and was a little too sweet. The rice was very, very good. Salad was a salad. I'll go again to try the sushi. Overall, it was just an ok place to go to.

If you are looking for affordable great tasting and fresh sushi - Taki is a great choice. I have been enjoying Taki's great service and eats for several months now and I have yet to be disappointed. Operated by a husband and wife team, Taki always has personal and prompt service. The prices are great with most rolls between $5-$8.

  • Veronica M.

Great food. Great atmosphere. Great prices. It's small and intimate; great for a date or just to go and have a meal alone. They have a large menu so there's plenty of choices and the sushi was delicious. Not to mention, the pieces of sushi were very good sized as opposed to other sushi places I've been where the pieces are tiny and you'll need at least 3 rolls to fill you up. I loved it. I will definitely be back.

  • James R.

Well, let's cut to the chase about Taki. It's decent sushi, good service, and a great place to go if you just have to have a Crunchy Shrimp roll RIGHT NOW. Granted, it's not the best in town; however, when the sushi craving hits, Taki sure beats anything you will find in your local supermarket (yeah, I'm talking to you, Publix). Taki's ambiance also certainly adds to the overall experience. From bamboo paneling to Asian lanterns, everything works together in tandem to put you in the sushi noshing mood. One word to the wise, though: if you come at lunch, don't order the bento box. Long a Japanese midday standard, the bento box at Taki is rather small, portion wise, for the price. In the mood for something other than sushi? There are also sashimi, teriyaki, and tempura offerings to round out your options.

Good food and it comes fast but the service is just okay because one the waitresses and waiters still have a very Japanese accent and are hard to understand. Other than that it is a great little Japanese restauraunt.

This place is a gem and a great value. Love the spicy rolls. For the record, last time I was in, the kid was doing his math homework.
