Very standard Outback; good food, good prices, nice people.

This particular outback has gone downhill. We came here with a party of seven and had the worst experience ever. The restaurant was about1/2 empty, and the staff were just sitting around talking. We then sat here for ~20 minutes before we got a drink order. Had to ask for bread. Had to repeatedly ask for salad dressing, drink refills, etc. Food was lukewarm at the time it was served. One of us complained about the salad not being right, and the manager said it looked like it had cheese on it to him. It was obviously missing cheese and other toppings. Unbelievable. Not coming back.

Worst service. Don't take a section that you can't handle. Don't disappear for 20 minutes at a time. The whole experience was just unbelievable. We would wait 20 minutes to see our waitress. Couldn't even ask her to make our food to go because she was nonexistent. An hour into it...just drinks and no sight of our waitress. WILL NOT BE BACK.

I felt horrible walking out of the restaurant today because it took so long to order our food. But then I read the reviews on this Outback and I didn't feel bad anymore. The comments are pretty consistent and accurate.

I really wanted to give them a better review but after 2 experiences here I just cant. Wife and I came before Christmas and they were so under prepared that my wife's meal sat under the heat lamps until her fish dried out while they waited for my steak to come. When the waiter makes a point to state that you should check your steak for its done ness, that's a sign its overcooked. And it was well well done. He apologized and took my steak back and then the manager came out and apologized and they brought a second steak about 10 minutes later. That steak was seared on one side and just completely raw the rest of the way. At this point we decided to leave and the manger came to apologize and even gave us 2 $20 gift cards and asked us to come back after the holidays and they would make it up to us. So, we did, and we ordered the same meal again. This time the fish was dry but not as bad, and my steak was still over cooked, but not as bad so we kept our meals and didn't say anything. Timing was of again, drinks weren't refilled very fast, and we noticed multiple people around us sending back food so it wasn't just us. Its disappointing because I would love to give this place a third chance, but with a competitor that's equal distant an also a steak house, we will probably just go their now.

Went here tonight with a group of 6. Waited over an hour for our food. Waited 20 minutes just to get drinks. When the food arrived the steaks were cooked incorrectly, the shrimp was part raw, the salad was crap and the food quality was poor! Terrible food, ok service. I feel really bad for the workers there who actually try hard. My wife and I will NEVER be back to this place! What a joke!

This place really sucks, went in the other day ordered a burger that wasn't done completely, which I had bit into already, and they come back with the same damn piece of meat. They did the same to my friends steak, who the hell does that, in a restaurant. Tried giving this place the benefit of the doubt, since a buddy of mine that works there said, that at busy times they drop steaks on the sludge covered floor then they sear them and send them out to customers, while the managers have knowledge of this happening wtf!!!!!! Don't they know that's how people die!!!!!!! He even said that they microwave the expensive a$$ lobster tails, that cost dam near 20.00. This place really needs to get there shiiiiiit together. Only good thing are the servers.... Wouldn't recommend this place to my worst enemy....

This place has gone downhill in the year and a half we've lived here. We live just down the road so go here rather often, that is for a couple who likes to think they're committed to avoiding most chain restaurants (since there are so many nice local places to pick from compared to where we used to live!) The going downhill is not entirely this Outbacks' fault. The Outback chain has drastically reduced portion sizes while increasing prices at the same time. Gone is the rack of lamb, in favor of some tiny lamb chops. The salad is about half as big as it used to be, on much smaller plates. The "filet wedge salad" that they used to have has turned into a steak salad with top sirloin instead. Now, on to the things that are this location-specific. The only reason to go here is Shandy who works at the bar. She is great, real sweetheart, and gets to know her regular customers. That being said, the last time I went here which was a couple weeks ago, the bar was not being well maintained. We tried to sit at one spot at the bar and had to move farther down because the area in front of the sinks smelled like sour beer, or yeast or something. You know the smell - a bar that has not been cleaned properly. And even sitting farther away from the sinks and drains, I had to continually wave off fruit flies while eating. Not a great experience. And my food was lacking. My baked potato was not even done. I mean, if you're going to charge close to what Flemings charges for a steak (not to mention you and Flemings are owned by the same company) you should be stepping it up.

Things have really changed here over the years! Used to be excellent service and great value for a good steak at reasonable price but things have changed. Not sure if it's company changes or what but service was mediocre at best and so was the food! To top it off a burger was ordered med well with just cheese and came out med rare with everything except cheese! Who even lets a burger out of the kitchen med rare! The manager did replace it and take it off the bill. Now just another in the long list of restaurants in the Hermitage/Donelson area not worth the trip.

My rating is based mainly due to Jake the bartender/server. He not only displayed a wealth of humility but also showed genuine interest and care for my date and I. The food was marginal and the malnourished asparagus spears were disappointing to say the least for the up charged price. Last evening 10/17/2013 on my return visit Amanda R was my server at table 47 at 8:52 pm. I'd advise if one is dinning at the Hermitage Outback not to request her for a server unless you're expecting sub par service. Amanda seemed too consumed with being a socialite for her coworkers sitting around the bar that we were totally neglected. Convenience is my reason for patronizing Outback value is sub par. I without a doubt feel that I should have been paid to dine last night instead of me paying. Dine at your own risk. Ask for Jake to wait on you but steer clear of Amanda.

This was our first time visiting the Hermitage Outback. I was definitely impressed the minute we walked in. Much nicer atmosphere than I anticipated. The food was exactly as we ordered and very tasty. My boyfriend loved the coconut shrimp and the salmon. I got the chicken sandwich which was great with the avocado (not the paste) and aoili mayo. The chicken tortilla soup wasn't the best I've had, but not bad and a tad spicy. The service was absolutely top notch. Our server, Ace, was very attentive and friendly. She made us feel very welcome. We will definitely be back to request Ace as our server, and to try some more items off the menu- everything sounded so good!

First good sign is a 100 on the restaurant report. I've always had great smiling, friendly servers. Their Outback Special Steak is what I usually get. value for the dollar this steak is better than any where else. Not saying not saying the best I've ever had but for the house special it's exceptional. Cleanliness ? The restaurant reports speaks for that.

My parents took me to Outback last Friday night for a birthday dinner and I was slightly disappointed with the steak. This was my first time eating at an Outback, and I now eat red meat about once a month, so I wanted this to count. This is a "steakhouse," right? Granted, I did order the sirloin and those are more lean than juicy, but mine was pretty dry. Still, it was pretty good and my sides (broccoli, sweet potato fries) were excellent. They overcooked my mother's medium-well steak, but they rectified that almost instantly. So there you have it. I can't give it two stars because the staff is pleasant, it's a good chain restaurant, but I wouldn't go here again unless someone was paying for my meal again!

HORRID! The service was good. Shandy and Chelsea handled their business during a busy happy hour. I have no complaint with the service. Food on the other hand...OMG! my drink, the wild tea smelled like dishwater or something sour and it had no alcohol. It was happy hour after all. Guess I should have asked for top shelf. I should have followed my first instincts as well as the Yelp reviews and left. However in spite of the bad reviews, the parking lot was packed and the last review was in 2013 so I was a little confused as to if things had improved or not. I havent had the Kookaburra wings in years, maybe a decade. They are no longer called Kookaburra wings AND they changed the recipe. HORRID! They were a tasteless burnt mess. I ordered the 3 course steak meal for my bf. HORRID! smh Even the damn Cheese cake was awful. The steak was burnt to a crisp but tender. That's about the highlight of my last Outback visit. EVER! The couple next to me even said they were going to Taco Bell. LOL They just came for the $4 wine.

My very first review!!! I will keep it simple do not visit this "steakhouse" on a Friday or Saturday night. Service was horrible. Was seated for 15 minutes before we got tired of waiting and grabbed someone to wait on us. Never made to feel so unwelcome at a restaurant before. Ordered prime rib medium rare and got a fully uncooked slab of meat. In the end we received the raw prime free. We will not go back and I will tell everyone I can not to visit this "steakhouse"

Outback is one of those places which can be exceptional if everything is running properly, or it can be awful if people aren't paying attention to what they're doing. This is kind of in between. The manager and the wait-staff are exceptional. The food is pretty good, but the preparation and hosting duties are rather lacking. I took my family on a Saturday just as it opened. I had to work in the evening, and I figured service would be relatively quick and chipper if we were the first in the door. And it mostly was, except the hostess was not good with remembering details, and we had to wait for the waitress to get a few details covered. I checked the "weekend lunch menu" (never heard of that before), and saw they only offered 3 steak options. How does a STEAKHOUSE only have three steak options. That's stupid with a capital DUMB! The waitress offered to let me see the dinner menu, which was nice, and I ordered the porterhouse off of that. Once that was settled, and we all got our food, I started sharing my steak with various family members, then settled down for my first bite, which was a big piece of gristle. Really? Gristle, in a Outback porterhouse? I complained that this was my first bite, and how was I to deal with a 23 ounce porterhouse that's gristly? They agreed and brought me a second one. As I waited, I ate the potato and broccoli, which were both pretty good. When they brought the second steak, it included another potato and broccoli, which was nice, so I still felt like I was getting my money's worth. I took that steak and that as gristle-free. Good food, excellent service from the waitresses and manager, and a decent environs. A decent little experience, overall.

For the price I would expect better. However, the good: service is good, my wife had the filet and likes it, I had a porterhouse and it was good. My baked potato was tiny and shriveled up though. I'll go back but probably not anytime soon.

Lets see.. The service walking in wasn't so hot. Hostess was unhelpful. Basically told us to stand at the dirty booth and someone would come and clean it. The server was ok. The food was definitely tasty. May eat here again. :)

Meh. Its Outback nothing special but not bad. I got the fish with crab stuffing. The fish was a little tough and the crab stuff on top needed seasoning. My husband's broccoli was almost raw. However lackluster the food was, the service was excellent!

I used to go to this Outback all the time, but I've been kind of disappointed the last several times. It's almost like the quality of the food is going down. The last time I ordered the Aussie Fries here (which are my all time favorite) the cheese and bacon just didn't cut it. Although, they did get it right on my meal. I had the 7oz filet with steamed veggies and boy do they know how to make that. The waitress was a real treat too, I wish I remembered her name. Parking is never an issue here because of the shopping center it's in.

Our experience was great! We were celebrating getting married. We told our waitress and throughout our meal numerous people came to congratulate us. Our waitress was shandy (spelling?) and she recommended the sangria sampler. Excellent choice! She said that she is also a bar tender and she had made that batch. Very good. Our steaks were great and perfectly cooked. When we were almost finished she gave us a desert and said that it was her gift to us for getting married. All in all probably the best experience I have ever had at an outback and one of the best at any restaurant anywhere. Would definitely recommend.

All Outbacks are NOT equal: I went to this Outback location last Tuesday. Normally I get the ribeye but this time I got the strip steak (ordered it to be cooked medium), baked potato and salad. My steak was medium well, in parts well done--leaving a dry steak. To spend about $18 on a steak I would expect much better. My baked potato was also under cooked--normally this has not been an issue at Outback but they did not seem to care. My salad also had part of the head/core--a chunk of lettuce. The person prepping should have noticed that. I was at a business dinner and did not feel comfortable sending it back but this was pretty much a negative experience. I have eaten at the location off of I-65 near Brentwood and the location in West End and I would say go to the other locations before The Hermitage location. West End Location is my favorite Outback. The waitstaff person was nice, but I've had nicer. The restuarant seemed clean as well. I have been going to Outbacks around the country for years and I have just grown to expect better.

I love this Outback..the service is exceptional..we ran our server ragged and she always came back with a smile...The meal was also quite nice too..we all enjoyed our food...we all had to go containers too....I had the pasta with scallops and chicken..it was just right spicy...with extra Parmesan sauce on the side..yummy...my sister had the Tilapia with crab sauce on top..I know we are supposed to order steak..but they make that pasta so well I was dreaming about it...LOL...Great service, great food and drinks...what else you come here for??...:P

I've eaten at this particular Outback a couple of times now, and I must say that the service is quick, friendly, and competent. Of course, I've never had a BAD experience at an Outback, which says something for the chain itself, I think. The steaks are always prepared to my liking, the bloomin' onion is hot, and the drinks are potent. What more could you ask for?
