I can't say enough good things about this place. The staff is top notch, the food is excellent, and the atmosphere is friendly. I've never written a review for anywhere but I had to for them. Some might say it is pricey, but I would say an extra dollar or two is worth what you get in return. I recommend any of their tacos but I am sure everything else is on par with what I have had. Don't let the location fool you, it's a real gem!

Food is fat and juicy as promised! The fish tacos are the bomb and the portions of everything are very generous.

Food is ok but nothing flavorful about it. I can make better food at home. Overpriced for sure!

Small, but very chill place. Very friendly staff. Fish tacos/burritos are the bomb! Love stopping by here when I'm in Hendersonville!

Decided to turn to Yelp for a new experience. Fat Juicy Taco did not disappoint. Great creating upon entering the establishment. Place is small, enough room for two - four to eat in otherwise order and take out is the deal. Call ahead or just stop by. The cook doesn't know how to make a 'small' portion. Chips / salsa made in house and are great. We tried the 'Platter' and still had to take some home. Love the crunchy taco. The specialty spicy sauce was great. Highly recommend.

Unless you enjoy large amounts of shredded lettuce, I would avoid. Very friendly, but that's where it ends. Good was dismal at best.

Coming from LA, I was highly skeptical of Mexican joints. But Fat Tacos certainly lived upto it's name. The folks are extremely friendly & I felt very comfortable. ordered the fish tacos which were off the ranch. The chicken enchiladas were great - chicken was slow cooked & the olives & jalapeños complemented the food really well If you are up for some spicy sauce to add to your food, the chef specialty Scorpio sauce was excellent.

I have driven by this place on multiple occasions and have wanted to try it based on the name alone. It just sounded so intriguing! I finally got the chance to try it and it definitely did not disappoint! I had to fish burrito. Burrito filled with fish, topped with a tartar sauce, lettuce and pico de gallo. Omg. Fresh, all made in house, and delicious. The chips are also made in house and are some of the best I have ever had. The staff is friendly too! The owner and his wife were there and we talked about country music, traveling, and all kinds of good stuff! This is typically a carry out place, but they have some "waiting areas" where you can sit and "wait for your friends" (I was told by the owner that since they do not have a public bathroom that they can only legally be a carry out place but you can sit and wait for your friends on their stools). Love this place and will definitely be back.

Love the food (authentic) and the folks that run the place are fun to be around! Fish tacos are my favorite.

2 tacos which had about 2 ounces of meat, a small container of rice , chips and salsa (usually free) and a bottled drink (only choice) were $14. I enjoyed the chips but the salsa was overloaded with cilantro. I know that's a personal taste but it was very heavy. The chips are home made and good by the salsa ruined it for me. The tacos were loaded with lettuce and they were served stop a huge pile of lettuce which made the tacos difficult to eat. I was very disappointed and I cannot figure out why they charge so much mainly lettuce. Good flavors outside the lettuce but such a terrible value. It's in a dumpy strip mall and no tables so the overhead is virtually non existent. Very disappointing.

Great mom and Pop establishment. Salsa is a must have and the friendly faces behind the counter make a enjoyable place to dine.

With a place like this in Hendersonville, you have to wonder why people would lower their standards and go to a place like Taco Bell. Everything here is homemade, and tastes great. The chips and salsa are great, and the fish tacos are the best.

  • Andrew O.

Good service, good music, but the food was VERY sub par for the price. It was seriously a joke. Can only sit about 6 people inside to eat so don't plan on eating in during busy times. You are better off going to Taco Bell.

Great experience. I ordered delivery and the person on the other end of the phone was just a joy to talk with. I ordered tacos, burritos, and a quesadilla and they were perfect. I especially loved the fish tacos. I will be definitely ordering again. Well done!!!!

Oh wow was this good. The owner was there when we got there, she was so friendly. We couldn't decide what to get so we got a platter. We got the taco with the shredded beef, yum, the burrito with the shredded chicken was good too, my 9 yr old said that was her favorite. We got the quesadilla with the shredded pork, which was my favorite. We also got some of their home made chips (amazing) pico de gaillo guacamole, and salsa. There wasn't anything that wasn't good. It was enough food for myself, my 9 & 6 yr old girls, my 2 yr old son and my husband tried some and there was still some food left over. Oh! And the pinto beans and cheese were out of this world. I don't even eat that kind of stuff but it was so good! Awesome job guys and thank you thank you for the best authentic Mexican food in this area!

The food is outstanding, don't let the appearance scare you off. If they had customer seating this would be one of the best taco shops in town!

I grew up in California, I KNOW legit So Cal Mexican food, this is definitely not it. The place is dirty, and they are not operating with the proper equipment for a restaurant, more like a backyard party. The sad part is that the place actually has potential, but it needs a lot of work and professionalism to get there. Which can all be done while keeping with the casual atmosphere and cool So Cal vibe. There's nothing like So Cal Mexican food and legit fish tacos. I really miss Wahoo's, Taco Nazo and Alberto's, and would've loved for this place to fill the void, too bad.

Moved to Nashville from CA 25 years ago. This is the only place in TN I can get a loaded CA-style taco (outside of Jack-in-the-Box). Thankfully, no ground beef, but the only meats are shredded (beef, chicken, pork), no steak bits (asada). Your choices for shell are hard or soft, but I ask for the "soft fried." The meat is only steam-table hot, and a little "stewy" for a taco, but works for a burrito. I stop by every time I'm in Hendersonville around lunch time. The gregarious owner is from northern CA.

The fish tacos are wonderful, but for me, my fiance, and my son - we spent over $20 easily. Not a fan of the prices, and don't get the pork tacos if you cannot eat them right then - the tortilla was crazy soggy by the time we got home. My son loved his taco, though.

The beef and pork tacos are delicious. The salsa is flavorful and the chips are addicting. Most importantly, the staff is great.

Literally the worst Mexican food ever.

THE BEST FISH TACOS! Don't let the location in an old Hendersonville strip mall fool you. This is authentic California style Mexican food. Forget Taco Bell, Captain D's and McDonald's. This place is awesome. It is primarily a carry/delivery place with a very small seating area by the window, but they are super fast - less than a 5 minute wait. Run, don't walk for their Fish Taco Meal with 2 tacos with beans and/or rice. Beer-battered fried cod in a perfect crunch wrapped tortilla with cheddar, pico de gallo, lettuce and their yummy Mexican tartar sauce ready!! Make sure you order their homemade salsa and chips - extra but worth it!

Had to update this bad boy. I'm already a weekly customer here at The Fat Juicy Taco. I usually get my fish taco...soooo good. Last night my husband and I had their Mexican pizza. WHooaaaaaa!!! So yummy. And for the extra star clincher: I got a call from the owner to inquire as to whether the pizza was to my liking, since it was a new item. What?!?!? I love them.

  • Ryan B.

The taco was really good. It was fat and juicy both and one filled me. I did take a star off because the service wasn't just friendly--it was overkill friendly. They were so caring and responsive that I found it a little intrusive. I hope others don't take it that way. It's a really sweet crew there, but they seriously asked to help me 10+ times in my 20 minutes.

I'll be the first to admit that I only wanted to try this place because of the name. With a name like that, how can you not? I also wanted to see if what they claimed was true. They claim to have fat, juicy tacos. Well, they do. I ordered the two-taco meal and got one pork taco and one chicken taco. I honestly could have easily gotten by with one taco. That's never happened before. I was almost full after one taco. Did I stop there? No. I hadn't tried my chicken taco yet. While I cannot say that these were the best tacos I've ever eaten, they are really high on my list. They were everything you dream about tacos being. My soft tortilla did not fall apart. There was not a gigantic amount of lettuce and other crap that usually ends up staying on the plate on them. The meats were seasoned just right. These were just good tacos. And the rice that came with them? Fantastic. That was the tacos. Now let's talk about the chips. They make their own chips. The owner explained how they make them (they keep some out on the counter for sampling)...sadly, I forgot. In my defense, I was starving, and my attention span is nilch when I'm hungry. I do remember the words "so they have less fat in them," which sold them to me on the spot. So, they make their own chips...and they are effin' incredible. The service? I daresay you'd be hard-pressed to find better service. The owner talked to us the entire time we were in there, and she was so sweet. We will definitely return. I mean, it's excellent and it can't be more than a mile from our apartment.

My new favorite taco place! I ordered the two taco plate: one being chicken, the other beef. Out of this world! The beef is more like slow roasted, from a crock pot beef that pulls apart. It's fantastic. The chicken is cooked similar in that it's shredded with tons of flavor. The owners are very nice and welcomed sampling which was awesome. The tortilla chips and salsa are homemade and amazing. The guac was reallllly good and I'm typically not a guac fan. Two things would put this place on a different level: 1. I wish they had queso. They don't serve it because it's not authentic and more of an Americanized thing, but man, tacos and tortilla chips are soo much better with queso. 2. Seating was pretty limited. I'm looking forward to trying the burrito next time and possibly the chimichanga's & enchilada's. Truly a hole in the wall GEM that I love finding!

All I ordered was chips, salsa and guacamole to go. It was all delicious and homemade. If you love cilantro, you will love the salsa. Salsa comes in hot or mild, or a combination of both. I got the mix and it was just right.

I'm giving this a 5 star because I believe they have the best salsa I've ever had. They just make great tasty food. I love their burrito's, chips, guacamole etc. They are friendly and will let you sample stuff before you buy it. My only complaint is they are a little pricey but well worth it.

its not exspensive but for fast food its a little high. i would give it 4 stars if it was in a bigger place and u didnt have to set at counters to eat. its fresh and good just not the most comfortable place. its good not great for the price.

Have eaten here a few times. I guess the common thread here is that the owners are very nice and hands on. Offered me samples as I waited. Had the enchiladas the first time, very good. Then last night I had the chix burrito, not very good. Cold and dripping wet, pretty shocked. Girl behind the counter had PJ's on, really? Lots of cheesy signage. Chips will break your teeth although the salsa is very good. I really want to like this place but....

The food was fresh & fantastic & the service was great! The guy working there was genuinely happy to be there & we could tell he really believed in the quality of the food he was making & selling. We left with full bellies & happy that we stopped in. The chips, salsa, & guacamole were all so good that I continued to shovel them in after I ate my entire meal. I ate so much I nearly split my pants!

Wow. The. Best. Tacos. in Tennessee. The owner/creator of the incredible stupid simple recipes met us as we came in and greeted us with samples of homemade chips and salsa. I don't know where to begin. The taco shells are perfectly fried to a killer crunch that isn't too hard or chewy. The soft tortillas don't fall apart. The meat is hot and the lettuce is cold. It's an awesome contrast and it dawned on me that even though it should be like that everywhere, I can't think of one place where it is. The fish tacos are ridiculous good with their flaky batter and original "Mexican tartar sauce". What can be said about the guacamole? Only that it is made right. There is only right and wrong and very few get it right. If your idea of guacamole is what you've had at any Mexican restaurant in the south then you don't know what guacamole is. Sorry. Cantina Laredo can't even get it right. Close but no cigarro. Seating is sparse with only bar chairs but the hospitality from Jessie and Jennifer is warm and inviting. I can't wait to go back. If you are on a diet, you won't be when you leave.

Great little place. Good fast and friendly service. Limited seating, so take-out is an option. Reasonable prices with lots of pretty dang good food. Try the guacamole it will blow your socks off!

Best Mexican I've had in this state! Being from Arizona i'm real picky, but this place was awesome! They cover everything in "queso" out here and then call it Mexican food!?!? This was real west coast Mexican and I recommend this to anyone and everyone!

We have been driving by this place for a long time and finally got curious. Looked up the place on Yelp and saw all the great reviews and had to try it. Have to agree that the food and service is amazing. My family and I sampled just about everything. We were not as impressed with the fish tacos, but absolutely loved the beef, pork and chicken. The friendly and courteous service was awesome. This place has made it into our regular dinner rotation.

great food. they have the best taco sauce i have ever eaten. it might be a little on the sweet side but the flavors pop like nothing i have ever tasted. the rice is really good too. its like jambalaya without any meat and a mexican twist and i could easily see myself buying a quart of it to munch on all night if they sold it that way. my only complaint is the smell that sticks to me. they need to clean their ventilation. all i can smell is grease when i walk in there and i walk out of there smelling like i spent all night in a redneck bar. i literally walked in, placed my order, walked out and i could smell it on me. it was like that months ago when i went there the first time. i never went back. i dont understand how they get all of these good reviews without a single one of them mentioning the fact that they have to change their clothes as soon as they get home.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
