My favorite Mexican joint in Hendersonville... Great fish tacos, great salsa. The Mexican beer they sell (Tecate, Modelo, etc.) is reasonably priced. There are two locations in town and they are both top shelf places.

The Nashville area is not known for having decent Mexican food, so finding Casa Vieja was a pleasant surprise. We stopped in for a late lunch, when there weren't many people there. The service seemed a little slow, but the waiter was friendly and helpful. My wife had the taco salad and really liked it . I ordered the chile relleno, taco, and avocado salad from their express lunch selection. I'm not a taco fan, and would have preferred an enchilada, but the chile relleno and avocado salad were excellent. We've decided that we really need to go back for dinner and margaritas.

Our family place for consistency when it comes to great food and service. Great for adult couple date night on bar side or family dinner on patio or family side!!!

Very enjoyable meal! My go-to for any Mexican restaurant I'm unfamiliar with is chile Colorado. Theirs is probably one of the best I've had. The beef seemed grilled- which is not too common in my experience. I think most places cook it in pieces on a griddle top. The chiles toreados were also on point. Dinner date and I also went for some dessert- I ordered flan and she had the sopapilla. Hers was a whipped cream nightmare. Mine was decent. But should I ever be in the neighborhood again- and wish to torture myself with loads of ineffectual white people and their bratty kids- then I'll be sure to come back.

Awesome food and great prices. We came in a Sunday at mid day and there was no wait and fast service. I haven't had better Mexican food in the Nashville area.

Best Mexican place in town by far! Good atmosphere. Great food. Even the guacamole looked freshly made and not from a jar.

I have dined here on numerous occasions. For the most part, the food is pretty good. Last night, we dined here and the food and the service was horrible. We waited over 30 minutes for a table and the last 10 minutes of the wait there were at least 20 tables open. I finally checked in with the host and was seated immediately. It took about 30 minutes for our food to arrive and that was only after i went looking for our server. When the food did arrive, half of our order was missing. If that were not enough, the chicken was almost raw. Not safe to eat... As i was leaving, the cashier asked if everything was okay. I told him no and he simply did not react. YOU SHOULD PASS ON THIS PLACE!!!

The food is good. Solid. Not quite as good as the town makes it out to be, but solid. I recommend take out though unless you are going during non peak times. The busier they get the worse the service gets. Take out during peak hours is great. The location by wal-mart is way too noisy inside being one big room with no noise barriers.

I had the fajita nachoes. While, the plate is pretty big (thats pretty par for the course with Mexican) and looks enticing.....I didn't get a sense that there were flavors (or delicious flavors). You get fajitas because of the flavors and mix of flavor--unfortunately this didn't live up to that standard. I'm a bit challenged as to what to give this establishment rating-wise. Part of my average-ish experience is colored by the distance I had to travel and probably the dish I picked. I trusted an Urban Spoon list that said "best restaurants near Gallatin road", but as Misty C points out....its waaaaaaaaaaay outside that area. Every place I've eaten on Nolesville Road & Nippers Corner area has been better--more flavorful, more authentic.

The other Hendersonville location is a little better in my opinion. Food is pretty good.

My family and I have made this a weekly visit ever since we moved to Hendersonville back in 2009. Being of Hispanic decent and growing up with home cooked Tex-Mex I've always been weary of "Spanish/Mexican Restaurants". None the less we love the food and its just as close to a traditional home cooked meal. But lets face it nothing (for me at least) is better than Mom's home cooking. The wait staff is fantastic and some of the best I've ever met and conversed with, it really is like being with friends. Glasses are never left empty and the food taste of all the traditional spices and freshness I've learned to expect with this type of food. The chefs and wait staff are exceptionally accommodating if you ask for something not on the menu; which we do nearly all the time. My family and I have had nearly every item on the menu and we've never been displeased with the flavor or the portions, especially when it comes to spicy food. We love our food spicy to the point of tears and have always been disappointed by other restaurants with their claim to "Spicy" but this place knows just how to do it. The new outdoor patio is a fantastic addition for the summer and even in the winter with the over head heaters. However because of its popularity you have to arrive before the dinner rush to get a table there. The only gripe I ever had with the place were the large round chairs that tend to make it hard to get close to someone, or pack in large parties. Despite this though I've come to love them just fine. Great menu choices include: - Parrillada Especial: an amazing combo of meats and veggies tossed in spices, the chorizo really make this one come together. -Torta de Carne Asada: A breaded and fried sandwich steak on a roll with sour cream, avocado, lettuce with jalapenos. Taste just like home cooked comfort food

Man, the service at this place has been ok at best, lately. This is the 10th time this year they have gotten my order / or my friends order wrong!!! Completely wrong! Let alone they charged my friend $500 bucks one day for lunch on his debit card. I absolutely love the food here so it is a shame. They just keep messing up. Down from 4 to 2 stars for now.

I like this place. It's not my favorite Mexican restaurant or anything...it didn't particularly stand out...but on the other hand, you can't beat Mexican food. I'd definitely come here again if I were in the area. However, I've been to another Casa Vieja, and it was better. Not because of the food, but because of the atmosphere. First of all, don't come here in shorts and flip-flops unless you plan on eating outside. They must turn the air conditioners down to absolute zero because it was FREEZING the last time I came. It's also a bit cramped. There's not much space between tables...it's literally table to table inside, and if it's crowded, it gets really loud. Regardless of all my complaints, I still have to give it a solid four stars just because the Mexican food here is delicious. They even have green habañero sauce on the table...one of my favorites!

Food is about like any other Mexican place. My friends and I are trying to figure out what makes it so much more popular than other similar Mexican restaurants. The service is good, prices average but the chairs...very uncomfortable, For whatever reason, it seems to be the place where all the cool kids go to eat Mexican. "Lets meet at Casa!"

Pros: Has a much nicer atmosphere than most Mexican restaurants without feeling inauthentic, good food, decent prices, clean bathrooms. Cons: Oddly snug and ornery chairs, often crowded, poor service at times. In short, it's worth a try. If you catch them at a decent hour, there's no nicer Mexican place in town that I know of. If they could step of the service, I'd be totally sold.

NEVER AGAIN. From 2 bugs in a pitcher of margaritas that we still had to pay for to being charged for sour cream that the menu indicated came with the meal my business will go to Rio Bravo who has a very friendly staff and is more authentic. Fish tacos dry and did not come with beans and rice.

Great Mexican food, great atmosphere, and great prices. This is the best place in Hendersonville for Mexican food, and especially in the warmer months because of their open-air patio. I can typically get a full meal - entree, rice, beans, and toppings plus free chips and salsa - for under $7.00 plus tax, and it's great. The chicken chimichanga is crispy and flavorful. The sopapilla dessert is shockingly good, covered with honey. Like most Mexican restaurants, they pour strong margaritas. The servers are all hispanic but speak English well, so order in English or Spanish. Over the course of 2008 Casa Vieja has become known around town as the best place for a Mexican lunch or dinner.

I need to start by saying my rating system is biased. If this restaurant were in Nashville proper, it would only be a 3 star, but out here, its an easy 4, The food here is the standard Mexican, but with a nice series of extras. They have a truly delicious ceviche as well as other great fish dishes. We went there that night for a bit of a celebration. I'll say that we are not the easiest of groups. Our little kids can be boisterous and we were with my in-laws and my brother-in-law, so a party of 9. Our waiter was quick and attentive. While the margaritas were just standard fare, they were cheap and he made sure we had another whenever we wanted one. The food is OK, the salsa, not bad and the food is one grade better than normal Mexican, but thats all better than any other Mexican in town, If you are in Hendersonville and looking for Mexican food, there is only one other (Ricardo's) that are as good, but none that are better.

I took my sister here to celebrate her birthday. (Girls night out - dinner & a movie). We got here an hour and twenty minutes before the movie and were immediately seated on the patio. I thought we would have time to kill but ended up making it to the movie with only 10 mins to spare (theater was 5 mins away). To say the service was slow is an understatement. We waited 45 minutes for a quesadilla and a chimichanga. Then, the food was mediocre at best. The fajita quesadilla had no cheese on it but enough grease from the chicken and veggies that that tortilla was soggy. My sister's chimichanga was not cheesy - it was soupy & runny. Our waiter asked us how everything was and I said, well we had to wait 45 minutes and it isn't even that good. His reply to me was that it was Friday and they were really busy. No apology, nothing. If you can't handle that many tables then don't have them or staff accordingly. Or, I guess expect mediocre food and service when they are busy. Two positives: the patio was nice - very open and breezy. The guacamole was good. There are much better Mexican restaurants out there.

Service has also been spot on regardless of the day or time I've visited. The menu is your regular Mexican restaurant menu but food is always served piping hot and quickly. Their margarita's are excellent as is the salsa.

I've been going there since they opened (couple of years). They have a great menu and EXCELLENT margaritas. I like the fact you can choose from so many top shelf tequilas for a very reasonable price and they taste much better on the patio in the summer time. The wait staff has a very low turnover! Great customer service!

Great and fast service. The service is so great here and the food is awesome. I've been there 10 times and I've been happy everytime I've left. It's kinda loud at times which makes it good for kids. They also have a nice patio as well.

Great atmosphere, good service, good food. The place is a bit nicer than other Mexican restaurants in the area and offers a few items not found elsewhere, like avocado straight up.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
