Wow.... If you are in Gatlinburg and want a five star meal done right. Eat here. Everything was perfect. My filet was cooked to perfection, the wine was delicious. Service was prompt. Even the salads were a show stopper. We will eat here again. Well done Alamo.

Let me start by saying the 2 stars is because the servers were excellent. We called ahead TWICE and they told us they'd have a table ready. NOPE. The food is mediocre at best. For the price you are actually being ripped off. Ceasar salad was watery and bland. The ribs were WAY too sweet. The ribeye was tough. This is not steak house quality food and it's not run very well. They are also trying to rip you off with their shady advertising principles. Just don't go. There are much better and cheaper places in Gatlinburg to eat.

The food was amazing. The staff seemed a bit overwhelmed. Overall a great dining experience.

Very nice and friendly, but a little pricey. Despite the price, the food was amazing. The best place of you want a great steak.

This place was not worth the money you would spend to eat there. The server was not polite, professional, or attentive. Not to mention he placed a very hot plate of food in front of a 16 month old child. Smart? Attentive? I think not. To call itself a steak house they sure messed up my steak. I ordered the NY Strip at a Med/Rare. Simple right? Wrong. First it came out as a Med/well. Then they refired and it came back rare. Really? I was tempted to go and just cook it myself. They didn't comp my meal nor did a manager come by to apologize. The prices were incomparable to the quality of the food you get. Try another place.

Decided to go here for dinner the other night because I was dying for a good steak. I should have gone elsewhere. The service was great along with the salads, mushrooms and baked potato. The steak was not. For $30 I expected less fat and grissel. Plus I ordered it medium and it came out well. After that it came out rare. Come guys how do you not know how to cook a steak. Before and after dinner you have to pass the pushy timeshare people trying to get you to go on a tour. How many times do I have to say no. Very tacky.

We enjoyed lunch here. There is an outside area which is near a creek that is a nice place to enjoy lunch. The server was friendly and efficient. The food was delicious.

Horrible experience !!!, food undercooked,, very minor league, complained, no manager came over, decor very sterile, only positive was server Michael. Better off at Texas Roadhouse, trust me

My wife and I visited the Alamo Steakhouse while on vacation in Gatlinburg. I had the NY Strip and it was very good. Juicy. They delivered it on a fajita skillet with lots of juices. My wife had the Ribeye and said hers was great too. Try the Alamo potatoes! It is a bit pricey, but the food is quite good.

I really want to rate this place higher but all three of our meals were over cooked. The positives are a beautiful setting with a little drain creek with friendly ducks. The bread was also first rate. I had a Salmon Oscar with over cooked and , dried out crab. The Salmon had a bitter after taste. Our steak was ordered medium but was cooked a solid medium-well. Our other Salmon dish was also overcooked. The side dish of brocolli was old and over cooked. The spinach salad looked old as did the wedge. Service was good.but the wrong food came to our table. Our main dish came out in the middle of our salads. I noticed the same thing happened at the table next to us. At $20-$30/ person, I think you can find much better in Gatlinburg.

great steak, wonderful ambience on the patio. They let us smoke cigars on the patio. A win all the way around!

My t bone steak was plain. I asked for medium rare and it was rare. I would have gave it a 1, but wife food was delicious. She had the peppercorn steak.

Loved the steak. My wife and I went there one evening after we found out it was safe for her to eat there. We are limited on choices with her peanut and tree nut allergy. The steak was cooked perfect. Wasn't dried out (I like mine medium rare) like some other places I've been. My wife's came out medium like she likes it. The taste was fabulous. We liked it so much we bought the seasoning for home and we've ordered it online several times since. Definitely a place we will go,back to when we rent a cabin.

Some really good things and bad things. Steak good flavor but a lot of fat and gristle so only could eat 3/4. Dinner salad huge and very fresh. She crab soup- really big disappointment. Baked sweet potato good. Rolls were good. Cheeseburger - excelllent but was a little too huge for one person.

Wife and I ordered a Tbone steak each, hers with Alamo potatoes, mine with mac & cheese. Son ordered kids hot dog with apple sauce. Sides were good, but steaks were only decent, I've definitely had better. Little more fat on them than we care for and some gristle. Salads were great as were the rolls. He liked his hot dog, but apple sauce had a bell pepper chunk in it? Service was good.

We were not impressed. Firstly, the restaurant is dark and dingy. It doesn't feel like fine dining. There was a wait for a table so we decided to wait at the bar, which is up very steep steps. The bar area is small and you basically get run over by servers trying to get drinks for their tables. There was one bartender and she was rude. She acted as if we were bothering her when we asked her what the house specialty drinks were. I did order the peach moonshine specialty drink and it was delicious. We then got seated at a table upstairs in a dark corner. The restaurant is outdated and feels dingy. The menu is limited. My father got the ribs and they were so sweet you could hardly eat them. I got the salmon. It was cooked well, but my broccoli was cooked to mush. The Caesar salad was small and the dressing is odd. My husband got the steak and it had a lot of gristle. My mom got the salmon oscar, which was good but not worth $30. The part that we HATED was when you leave you are badgered by salesman, trying to sale time shares. They stand right in your way and basically yell at you. All in all dinner was fine, but we won't go back. There are much better choices just down the street.

The steaks are quite tasty and the menu has a good variety of entrees. Try the chocolate burrito for dessert-a tortilla wrapped Hershey bar, deep fried and dusted with powdered sugar. I hate to say it, but I preferred Alamo over The Peddler.

My husband had steak it was okay, I had pork loin and it was the most salty dish I have ever tasted .I had to choke it down with my sons applesauce and I like salt. When I asked the server why it was so salty he said its supposed to be like that and its from the rosemary????? We were not impressed and it was pricey.

  • Mark M.

This place is absolute garbage. Cold fries, metallic tasting steak, everything over salted. I payed 30 bucks for prime rib and it was chewy, overly salted and they left a 3 inch by 3 inch piece of fat slab on it. Me and my wife actually told people walking in as we were leaving. NOT TO EAT HERE. Something I've never done before in my life .

Eat here often because we are local. All the servers are friendly and the food is great. We enjoy eating out on the patio.

Been to the Alamo several times over the years and always had luck. Went again last night and brought friends and we were not disappointed! Our waitress did really well. Friendly. Answered all our questions while we ordered and our glasses never stayed empty for long. I hate having to ask for a drink refill, and last night I never had to ask. The food was very good as well. The salads were fresh and BIG! The rolls were gobbled up very quickly by the entire table. My pork chops were full of flavor and cooked perfectly. Nobody had a steak last night, but the salmon, shrimp, and other items were well done. Well done Alamo...we'll be back...

The inside of this place is just....weird. It was dark inside, but not like a mood lighting kinda dark.....dark decor and no windows and felt like it hasnt been updated since the 70's kinda feel. Food was ok, I can think of other places I would rather eat while in the area. It was packed and recommended by locals, but I can get a better steak dinner at home for the same price.

  • Candi K.

Went here because a friend said it had the best steaks. We ordered the filet oscar and it was DELICIOUS!!!!!!! It was served with asparagus, lump crab meat, and hollandaise sauce and it was cooked to temperature. I also ordered the french onion soup but was a little displeased that it was served with croutons and not bread. All in all I would definitely recommend the filet oscar, YUM!

  • Todd B.

The rating is right on in my opinion. I would rate this place 3 1/2 stars. The parking lot was packed when we arrived. The food overall was good but nothing to write home about. For the price, I'd probably chose Texas Roadhouse. We did get seated right away though which probably wouldn't have happened at TR.

The service here was great and can not say enough about that. The food was good all but the steak. I don't know if it was just not what I was used to, but no way. It was like it had been boiled or at least brined. It was way I ver cooked, even our server noticed that. Still would not have matter. Really did not taste like a steak, more like matter with a garlic oil poured over. I think about the guy on restaurant impossible sampling food. This was one of those just had no taste nothing special for sure. Now everything else was great salad, rolls, shrimp cocktail all great. Our server realized we did not enjoy meal. Even offered to have new steaks made. It would not have mattered, just not how I like steak. Service was great. Salads and sides great, but steak a dog might have ran from it. The wife and I would give the place another try but would not be eating the steak it would have to be something different. Go when it is half off during the week. Two stars just for service and sides but as a steak place I figured I would get a steak that was worth mentioning.

Very expensive steakhouse. For a family of four and with 2 toddlers sharing one meal and my husband and I also sharing a meal our bill was $55 and we also ordered water, not fountain drinks or alcohol. Food was good but not worth the money. We were also seated outside and 2 of the tables had smokers and decided to light a cigarette every 10 minutes. To us, this was expensive and an unpleasant visit. I would think even if you're sitting on a patio guests would be required to go out of the food area in the parking lot where there was a designated area away from guests for smoking.

Nothing special. Steak was average, have had much better. Over-priced. The veg of the day (squadh, zucchini, red peppers, mushrooms) was SO salty I couldn't even eat it and had to send it back. The She crab soup was luke warm and I was almost afraid to eat it.....health standards require kitchen food to be kept at a certain temperature - especially seafood and cream based items. definitely would NOT recommend. Our server, a young man, was very attentive and enthusiastic, nice personality, eager to please.

We went in around 6:30 on a Sunday evening. There was no wait, and we were escorted upstairs to a booth by the bar. We seemed to have the entire upstairs to ourselves for awhile. Our waitress was a bit standoffish at first, but she warmed up as we went along. My husband ordered the burger, which was fantastic! I ordered the chicken Caesar salad, which was just ok. The chicken wasn't cooked fresh, which I really expected from a steakhouse.

We came here about 2 years ago and we loved it. When we decided to come back to visit the Smokie Mountains, we knew we had to come back to the Alamo! We started off with the crab dip appetizer. This was something we had never tried before and it was excellent! My son who is a kind of picky eater, even loved it! It's served with pita bread triangles. I had the house spinach salad. It was served with bacon crumbles and mushrooms with their special homemade poppyseed dressing. Very good! My husband and I both ordered Ribeyes. His was the larger one and mine smaller, but both cooked perfectly and delicious. I also ordered the baked sweet potato with butter/brown sugar. It was all delicious. The only thing that bothered me was that our steaks arrived just a minute or two after our salads. We would have preferred time to enjoy the salad before having the entree served. We had to rush through the salad so our steaks wouldn't get cold. Server was very friendly and suggested that we take our leftover rolls out to feed the ducks. Which we did, and it was nice...they are obviously used to getting the bread. They came runny up to us when we walked out. We will return anytime we come to visit the Gatlinburg area. Great place for dinner!

  • Karen G.

Excellent! As the waitress told us - "Everything is big here!" I got a wedge salad and a loaded baked potato with my filet mignon - I'm still stuffed and its been two days! Boy, was that good!

  • Bob W.

Tried prime rib and rib eye . Between us there were no mistakes in our food . I was still able to get med rare prime rib later in evening . Salad was set up nice , rolls were good , and we never had to ask for refills. Food comparable to Outback or Longhorns .

We ended up here after a long day of hiking in the Smokys. It's not on the main drag through Gatlinburg and it's not a chain so we gave them a try and were pretty pleased. Wife had the she crab soup which was fantastic and I had the a wedge salad to start. They mix Catalina in with the bleu cheese which was something new, very tasty. I got the Porterhouse which was very good as well but possibly cooked a tad beyond the medium rare I ordered so you might want to be very specific about how you like your steak. All in all a fine meal and friendly service, worth a try.

This place is very overrated. The food was mediocre and the waiter was rude. They also did not offer a military discount. How cheap does a restaurant have to be to not offer a 10% to the men and women who give so much to this country. There are so many better options in the Gatlinburg/Pigeon Forge.

    (5)
  • Harlan G.

Not sure why the negative reviews. My wife enjoyed a wonderful dinner, and excellent service from Melissa. My wife had the filet with hollendaise sauce, I had the porterhouse. For me the actual highlight was the lettuce wedge with large chunks of Blue Cheese dressing and loads of bacon. Would return anytime.

A friend and I drove up to Gatlinburg last week to have dinner and see the Christmas lights. She had eaten at Alamo years ago and remembered that it was good. So we tried it and let me tell you...stay away from this place. It is the epitome of what residents like us think of as 'the Sevier County Syndrome'. This is a pervasive attitude found in many businesses in the Gatlinburg/Pigeon Forge area where there is are milions of visitors each year. There are so many customers that restaurants like Alamo dont have to worry about repeat business so the food, service, and facilities are pretty bad while prices are unjustifiably high. The whole place oozed cheap... cost cutting measures everywhere and rundown facilities... a bread basket with two not-fresh rolls - 'let us know if you want more!' - with two plastic sevings of butter....fake Sweet n Low...everything together made our table look like a bomb had gone off by the time we finished dinner...and had a check for $75. Not a lot of money for a nice dinner but this was anything but that. The salads were just nasty...old ingredients seem to be one of the cost cutting ideas....her onion soup was actually greasy and she found a piece of carboard in the bowl. My baked potato was that dense, slimy texture from sitting in the warming drawer too long...while the steak was remarkable only because it was tender but for a $25 filet, one should expect that. All in all, the owners who have a small local chain of restaurants ought to stop the hype about their family commitment to quality. It is totally missing in this restaurant and the others I have visited in Pigeon Forge.

Just down the hill from our rented cabin. Very quaint as stated elsewhere. We were seated promptly for dinner; wife and teen daughter. Things started off poorly as the 2 most expensive red wines requested by my wife were no longer available, and the waiter stated it had something to do with their distributor. I ordered a Makers Mark bourbon and they didn't have that either! Hello, we are in TN. People drink bourbon in the South. Same reason stated. I told him I thought they should be getting a new distributor. We each ordered the strip steak, mine medium rare, theirs medium well. DD had a Caesar, I had the wedge, and wife had the spinach. All were excellent! The steaks were top notch and done to perfection. I just returned from a business trip to NYC where I ate at 2 expensive and highly touted steakhouses that were nowhere near as good as these. Even mine, which usually start off too rare resulting in a send-back, was done perfectly. They grill them over hickory so they have a smokey flavor to them, much like mesquite grilled. Baked and sweet potatoes were large and delicious. No desserts ordered as we were all stuffed, and each took home a half to a third of their steaks. Highly recommended. They do need a better red wine selection, though, or I would have given them 5 stars.

Great food and excellent service. Steak had great oak wood flavor, salad was fresh, sweet potato was seasoned well.

This place was a hidden gem. From the outside you do not think it is going to be as good as it is. The mushroom appetizer was amazing. The house salad was great and the steaks were awesome. We will be back!

Two ways you can rate a place, the service and the food. The service was fast, friendly, and overall great. The food however, was mediocre at best. Nothing was cooked properly for us OR the table next to us. I wouldnt go here again, nor recommend it.

So the girl who does my pedi has been going to Gatlinburg now for like 17 years and she recommended The Alamo for the best steak ever. She said that it was owned by some other people years back, but now since it has new owners, the food is better. So we checked it out. Of course being a vegetarian, I was trying to support my husbands need for protein and was delighted to find they had a veggie plate! This allows you to pick ANY salad on the menu along with 3 sides! This may not seem great to you, but I ALWAYS have to order sides to complete my veggie meal and it ends up being as much as a steak dinner (which is stupid). So I got it all for $12.99! and that's for dinner! Our waitress Grace was awesome. I forgot to say "no bacon" on my salad and so she saw me obssessively picking off each individual piece and immediately said she'd have them make me another one. I said it was my fault for not saying hold the bacon, but she took it back and had another one out in 2 minutes! Once we were finished upon exiting I found a bunch of little ducks that were waiting for some duck food snacks. When I realized I didn't have a quarter, I headed back into the Alamo to get some change (mind you this is 20 minutes now after closing) and one of the hostesses went to kitchen to ask 3 different people for change. One of the servers had an "emergency fund" of quarters and I explained that the poor ducks were just staring at me with the expectation I would give them dinner. He said he completely understood. Now if that doesn't seem like a great institution, I don't know what is!

I've eaten here a couple of times and the service has always been good - once or twice even too attentive for my taste. It's a chain - but a pretty good chain. This location seems more laid back (meaning less of a party atmosphere) than the one in Pigeon Forge and I sort of like that. Lunch is moderately priced and the food is actually pretty good.

  • Lawson S.

Best steak I had in the Gatlinburg area. The sides were very forgetable and brought down the overal meal. I ordered a medium rare, bone in ribeye. It came rare so I sent it back.

  • Mimi S.

Driving by this place it caught our eye, read the reviews as I usually do before going in ...most were favorable others perhaps are the type that's just not happy with anything.. Idk that said -when we were walking through the parking lot a gentleman leaving said "y'all won't be disappointed" boy was he right. We were pleasantly pleased by the ambiance, our attentive knowledgeable server Mary, the crab dip appetizer, and the shrimp/steak dinner the shrimp and steak were seasoned and cooked to perfection. Broccoli side was tender and the tops not stems. Fresh rolls came with the meal. Got the Caesar salad -loved the grated and shredded fresh cheese. A fine meal, a place where we will return and highly recommend. Oh yes the blackberry cobbler for dessert is a must!

We ate here based off the reviews posted. I absolutely love steak and am fairly picky about it. Our server was the "Yelp-Proclaimed Famous Dwayne," who was very interested in seeing that a few people had left him positive reviews based off his service. So, I ordered the 20oz bone-in Ribeye with a sweet potato and a house salad with ranch. The salad came first. It was huge and fresh. Had a bit too much dressing for my liking but that's my own fault for not ordering it on the side. The main course.. I found that the steak was cooked the way I like it. The ribeye had quite a bit of fat, more so than normal. The taste was very good. Had a charred oak taste that wasn't overwhelmingly strong. The sweet potato was actually perfect. One of the best I've had. Very big, soft, and not loaded down with sugar and butter. I hear that the green beans were excellent but did not get to eat them. I've had my fair share of steak, and this was in the middle. Was much better than an Outback Steakhouse but not quite near the level of say.. Ruth Chris. If you go there, ask for Dwayne and tell him you heard about him on Yelp! He's been known to take a selfie with you... Or so I've heard.

An excellent steakhouse - good food well prepared with excellent service. Steak choices range from rib eye (including a bone-in option), porterhouse, filet and prime rib. While on the pricey side (plan for roughly 50-60 per person, excluding drinks) but well worth the cost. Salads are fresh and crisp, with the lettuce wedge almost a meal in itself. The bone-in rib eye is a go to choice, particularly served rare!. If you are in Gatlinburg, this is a highly recommended place for either a large party or just a dinner with that special someone.

If I could give more than 5 stars I would. From an extensive menu to delicious food and prompt service, this restaurant has it all. I had the filet mignon and my husband enjoyed the 2 grilled pork chops, and then we splurged and ate the blackberry cobbler. Don't forget about the baked sweet potato. Great eats!

We were seated pretty quick for a Friday night. Our waiter Dwayne was helpful knowledgable and attentive. The salads were good. I had the wedge. Loved the combination of flavors! My husband had the house salad which he enjoyed the presentation! Our steaks were Cooked perfectly, the sides we chose were very good and the wine as well. It was a great finale to our trip.!

Two words. The Steak. 20 ounce bone in ribeye. It was 100% delicious down to the liquid goodness on the plate. Green beans and mashed potatoes made this the perfect meal. Dinner salad did come prior to the meal and it was HUGE! Husband and I split this mammoth piece of meat. It was the perfect amount. Service was pleasant as was the cleanliness of the building. Service was fast however we did eat a late lunch around 1:30. I would totally go back if we go to Gatlinburg again!

  • Gale F.

This sn average overpriced restaurant that doesn't have enough help to run like a good steak house. We waited 40 minutes on a Sunday night while tables sat empty! While our server was pleasant she had too many tables so service was slow. We both had ribeyes and they were okay but I felt the steak seasoning was way too salty. I wouldn't recommend I place for a family meal

    (3)
  • Amanda G.

We had a great experience. The place is really neat inside. We had a late dinner and each had a salad and baked potato both of which were terrific! We even had the pleasure of being served by the yelp proclaimed Dwayne who was fantastic!!

I've never written a review on here before, but my experience yesterday evening has prompted me to. My father and I ordered a ribeye, him with their specialty potatoes and me with a baked sweet potato, and both came out disappointing. Both steaks were severely over-cooked and the cut of meat was disappointing. My baked sweet potato, while huge, was well undercooked, much of it still being firm. For such a decently rated restaurant, my entire family was disappointed.

Wow excellent meal! I had the t-bone steak med, which was prepared wonderfully and the chocolate cake which was great. My husband had the steak and it was prepared correctly also, my husband also had the best Tom Collins drink that he said he had ever had!! Oh we called in 30 minutes early so we could be placed on the arrival list, as a result there wasn't a wait time!

Not recommended. Drive to Pigeon Forge to Logan's! Driving up, one would think this to be a jewel of the Smoky Mts. Trip Advisor award winning restaurant is advertised on the billboard. The parking lot is beside the river, and it's really pretty! When you step inside, however, it's like you're lost in a 70's thrift store. The decor is dull, old, and very cowboy-ish. I've never seen so many horseshoes!!! We were greeted by a friendly hostess and taken to a back room that was very noisy and lacking any kind of ambience. We asked to sit in a booth instead of a table...I don't think the server was too happy. When I looked at the menu, I was floored by the prices. I ordered Mich Ultra, my girl ordered the house cab. When our waitress returned with the drink, she just stood there and looked at me. She said "excuse me" and looked down at my menu. I finally got her subliminal message that She wanted me to move it so she could set down my drink. It was bizarre!!! I ordered the T-bone, my girl ordered the prime rib. Our waitress was for lack of a better word, again, bizarre, while placing the order and choosing our sides. It's like she didn't want us to speak unless spoken to. My T-bone was huge, as was the prime rib. I cut into it, took a bite, and it was the weirdest texture! If I hadn't known better, I'd have sworn I was eating fake meat. Grilling over oak, which I've never heard of, gave it an unappealing flavor. Luckily, the steak was full of gristle and inedible , so I had the waitress take it off the bill. (We had to ask 2 different people to find our waitress). She was very gracious in doing so. My caesar salad was good, though, so no starving here. My girl said her prime rib was a weird texture, as well, but after a lot of salt, pepper, horseradish, and au jus,she got the majority of it down. Basically no flavor. Maybe we hit it on a bad day, but I'm puzzled by the trip advisor award. I like eating local on a trip, but Gatlinburg area restaurants have been a huge disappointment, taste and price-wise. If I'm ever through here again, I'll stick to Texas Roadhouse.

Great steak, good server, good time! Nice steakhouse for a family who doesn't get to go to a real steakhouse. It would have got 5 stars, but my tea glass got empty twice. Ultimate pet peeve.....an empty glass.

This place was a great find! We dined here for our last meal out on our honeymoon. It's steak house prices, but for the amount of food you get, it's definitely worth it! We had the mozzarella sticks which are homemade and oh my goodness....absolutely delicious!!! The salad they brought before the meal was HUGE, about the size of a regular meal-sized salad! I had the filet and my husband had the porterhouse steak, both were very good!! Our waitress was also very good and took great care of us during the entire meal! We wanted to try one of their desserts but were way too full!

This was beyond the highlight of our family vacation! By far the best food in town! The prices are average for a steakhouse, however the quantity and quality of the food were beyond initial expectations! The salads that come with your meal are huge and delicious! The "She Crab Soup" was outstanding! The rolls, honey butter, housemade mozzarella sticks, and stuffed mushrooms were also amazing! My family ordered different cuts of steak that were ordered all at different temperatures, ALL were prepared perfectly! We also all had different side dishes ( baked potato, mashed potatoes, Alamo potatoes (their take on home fries with peppers and onions), and creamed spinach). Not only was the food presentation spectacular, everything was at perfect temperature! Eric was our server and he was phenomenal!

Came here for my 5th Anniversary while on vacationing in the Smoky's. I reserved the Lovers Nest and it was great. Up the stairs and into a private area. The waiter was super friendly, gave us tons of advice for things in the area ( All of his advice worked out great ) For our meal, we got the potato skins, salads, ribeye, fillet and risotto and some other sides i don't remember. My steak was pretty damn good, cooked perfectly Rare, my wifes fillet was also cooked perfectly. I have eaten at many steak house restaurants, and this place tops them all. Next time i am in the area i will definitely come back

We went here on the suggestion of a park ranger in the Great Smokey Mountain National Park. We told him we wanted to get away from the "tacky tourist" feel of Gatlinburg. This restaurant is not without some theming - think Alamo and you'll quickly get the picture - but we had two terrific steaks. The horseradish/parmesan crusted steak was not overly cheesy, which I appreciate, but I would have been thrilled to have no cheese and all horseradish. Of course, that's just me, and I accept most of America wants "all cheese, all the time." It seemed inconvenient that our server had to go upstairs to get our drinks. The Manhattan had too much sweet vermouth in it, but our waitress, Chalina, brought us a different drink with no problem. We both received excellent service and generous portions. The restaurant serves good quality beef, especially for the price, and the sides were tasty as well. It looks tacky and it sounds tacky, but they serve a great steak. Oh! The salad was phenomenal - crisp greens (NOT iceberg, thank you!), plenty of everything, and plated beautifully.

Our server was really nice and that's why I gave them 3 stars. The service and good came out quick but the ambiance was dreadful. It was cold and felt old. We got seated in the back room with another group of loud talkers which made the experience worst. The food lacked, steak and everything else seemed over buttered. Crab soup was ok. Wouldn't order again. Salad was huge. Didn't even eat half. Overall it was just mediocre. Will try a different place next time.

Ok, this restaurant is basically an attempt to convince you that if the price is high, it must be good. I wasn't convinced. I ordered a steak, it was 28$. They charge extra for sauces, toppings, etc. I just got the steak. I ordered it Medium rare since they made a big deal about cooking perfectly. It was more like medium to medium well but ok, that's the modern age. It was tough and gristly. That is not a good thing when it's 28$, if it was 9.99 at the steak heaven roadside stand, ok, but not for 28$. The salad was great. I got the wedge and found it to be fresh, interesting (catalina and bleu cheese with crumbles) and quite tasty. I also found the "alamo potatoes" to be good as a side. The service was attentive but the restaurant was 75% empty due to the season. Honestly, this is an overpriced, underwhelming, effort. I would not eat here again. It does have plenty of parking but looks like it may be very crowded in season. I don't think it took reservations but a lot of restaurants in this region have "call ahead seating" which seems to be like a reservation but not quite.

If you are going on a date or celebrating a special occasion make reservations for the Lovers Nest upstairs. If you or a member of your party will park in handicap you have to pass it up and go one street up to park below the main street in front of the building. We ordered the Texas taters( which are potatoe skins), french onion soup, salads, ribeye with green beans, filet with mushroom risotto , asparagus with hollandaise and the mushrooms in a wine sauce. everything was cooked perfectly and the portions were pretty big. The service was wonderful. Could not have asked for better.

The crab dip appetizer was wonderful and you can tell it was fresh as was the potato soup which was the soup of the day. I'm not huge on French fries but their fries were delightful. The staff was absolutely wonderful and when I had to send my food back the manager offered me a free steak. When I turned that down he gave us a free dessert which was not called for at all. I ordered the burger medium well with fries for a side and the burger was awful. That's the only reason it didn't get 5stars. The burger had no flavor and was just terrible all around. Other than that everything else was great! Would definitely go back here!

Ate there last night. Atmosphere was very loud, there is almost no fabric to absorb the noise. House poppy was bland with no acid. My sister in law's salmon was dry, green beans were drowned in butter and over salted. The stuffed shrimp was very good and so was the prime rib.

Amazing all around which made me so happy . I had the horseradish filet mignon, it was cooked perfectly medium and melted in my mouth . Love love. Only thing is the environment isn't what I expected and to be honest made me wanna go somewhere else until I saw the menu and tried the food. Definitely coming back next time I'm in town

We visited the Gatlinburg, Pigeon Forge and Great Smoky Mountains Park on our 2nd wedding anniversary and made this our first nights dinner. I had reserved the restaurants "Love Nest", which is described on their website as "the ultimate in romantic dining". To be honest it is closer to an ultimate time out area. It is private and tucked away but the only romantic item was a plastic flower on the table. The decor carried over from the rest of the restaurant, stale and dated.I felt it bordered on false advertising. Now on to the food! For starters we choose the Steakhouse Nachos and they were very good. My wife had the Deputy Cut Rib-eye and I had the Sheriff Cut Rib-eye. Both steaks were among our top 10 favorites. And I wish I could recall our servers name as her level of service was outstanding. She was very attentive and friendly. Overall the level of service and quality of the steak would bring us back if we are ever in that area again.

I ordered bacon wrapped shrimp and a loaded baked potato. Overall it was good but the shrimp came out on a piece of lettuce which I didn't care for. Some of the bacon was a little fatty. The potato was about like most restaurant's. If I were to ever go back I would order something else.

We were in search of some place different to try when we saw the Alamo and how busy it was. We thought that tk be a good sign. We were seated quickly in what was like a hall way. The set up of this restaurant is strange. I wouldn't say it's too welcoming. Food was good, and service was ok. Not so sure i'd go out of my way to find it again on my next visit to Tn.

When paying by credit card, check your bank statement! We ate at the Alamo on May 17. After returning the inedible portions of dinner, the check came to $14. I left an $8 tip on my credit card. Three days later, I was very disturbed to see that after I had left, the restaurant turned my $8 tip into an $18 tip--on a $14 tab. I called my bank and the restaurant management, who said they would "fix it." But that's fraud and theft, and a call to the Gatlinburg Police will follow. Yet another bad taste this restaurant left in my mouth.

Bone-in pork loin special was cooked perfectly and sweet potato was great as well. My wife got the rib eye cooked medium rare and it was also cooked to perfection. Try the fuzzy-tini if you want a cocktail. Only thing that would make them better is a better craft beer selection. Wish I could have tried dessert but just too full.

This was a great steakhouse. Friendly atmosphere. Our waiter Dwayne was superb. Excellent service. We had the deputy ribeye rio grande. Delicious cut of meat and was cooked to order. For dessert we had the chocolate burrito. We were stuffed but wanted to try this. I'm so glad we did. It was a very unique dessert.

We stopped in after a day of hiking, and looked a little less well dressed than some of our co patrons but it was no issue. The food was better than I expected-much better in fact. Wedge salad-excellent. The splash of Catalina over the usual ingredients made for a great combo of tastes. my sister had the stuffed shrimp and may have attempted to stab people with her fork if they got too close. Horseradish crusted filet was tasty. Kids loved their food, and the kids menu was hefty, which is always nice.

My filet was just okay. Slightly overdone. Not very flavorful. For almost $30, I expected better. My spinach salad was drenched in dressing. It was like a pool of dressing that the leaves were swimming in. I couldn't eat it. I didn't complain, but I'm sure the restaurant would have fixed it. They have signs up saying that if you don't like something to let them know. I obviously ignored that, so that's my fault. My boyfriend said that his New York strip steak was great. My meal wasn't worth the price, in my opinion. I did like the restaurant location, though--far enough away from the crowds and had free parking.

We chose to check this place out this evening. Nice little walk from the parking lot, across a bridge to the restaurant. Inside, we were seated immediately and they were extremely friendly. First we were served some rolls with some sweet butter, which paired together, were pure bliss to my hungry stomach. My husband and I both ordered the pork chops, with broccoli. He got the sweet potato and I got mashed potatoes. Our son had a hot dog, applesauce & half of our broccoli. Then he was given a brownie, and cried because when he discovered the brownie beneath, he wanted just whipped cream. The waitress was kind enough to bring him a side of whip cream all by itself. My motherly instinct wanted to say "no way" but the smile on his face made me decide otherwise. Oh, and the ladies restroom had a really neat coconut oil and salt hand scrub mixture, which was amazing. I'm a sucker for things such as that. I did ask for some rolls and butter to take with my leftovers, so that when my hungry pregnant self wakes up in the middle, I'll be golden. Try it out. It was a great experience for us, although one of the more expensive places we've eaten as of yet in Gatlinburg.

The Alamo Steakhouse was recommended to us when we were on our honeymoon. Best steaks we have ever had! The wedge salad is out of this world! We never go to the Gatlinburg area without going to this steakhouse. Staff is right on, not too pushy but very attentive. Highly recommend this restaurant!!!

Food and service were both very good. I ordered the NY Strip (10oz.) medium and it was cooked to perfection. The wife ordered baked stuff shrimp (came with 6). Mary was our server and she was great and personable. We also ordered the Sombreros (6 stuffed mushrooms caps) as an appetizer. They were stuffed with crab meat and smothered in cheese. We found The Alamo much better than the Peddler Steakhouse which would have given the health inspector a heart attack watching the guy going around carving steaks to order.

Definitely one of my favorite restaurants I've ever eaten out BY FAR! My family and I ate at the Alamo Steakhouse in Gatlinburg which was relatively close to our resort we always stay at, Deer Ridge Mountain Resort. You'll definitely have to eat here. The waiters and waitresses are extremely nice and are always alert for modifications they can do to help their guests. You WILL have to get an appetizer. So good! I got "The Burger" which is one pound of pure deliciousness! I absolutely love the theme of the whole restaurant. It brings you to the southwest. I feel like a cowboy there haha. The front of the place is very peaceful and homey. I would like to say that I really like this location 100% more than the Pigeon Forge location because it is kind of away from the craziness of Gatlinburg. Sometimes you kinda just want to escape all the excitement for an hour and have some fine dining!

My wife and I visited Gatlinburg on our honeymoon and this was by far and away the best place to go. It wasn't the fanciest or most prestigious place we visited but the food and service put this place over the top! Our waiter, Dan maybe, was impeccable and prompt. If you are a couple looking for a romantic atmosphere then get the Love Nest reservation! It is well worth it. Good was awesome. Steaks were huge, baked potato was soft and fluffy. Go here. Go here now.

This place was okay. We went here on the good recommendations of other yelp users. I wouldn't recommend this place. Interior was cheesy. Waitstaff was friendly. Steak was good but all side items were terrible.

I really enjoyed this place after a long day of hiking in the mountains. We had a party of 4 and the service was excellent. The bread was so good. I can't even remember how many baskets we had. My husband and another friend ordered the steaks which were cooked perfectly and another person and myself ordered the soup and salad with an extra side. The French onion was delicious and flavorful. If you are looking for a nice hearty meal after a long day's hike this is the perfect spot.

My family of five ate here while on fall break. It's a steak house which they do well. They have an in house butcher that cuts all their meat. I had the horse radish crusted filet. It was prepared to order and very good, I never would have thought to put the two together. My loaded baked potato was OK, you have to remove it from the foil. My son's and daughter's mac and cheese was a little disappointing. I was anticipating something a little more like grandma use to make. My other son's BBQ bacon wrapped shrimp was good but nothing too special. My wife had the chicken parmesan which was heavily breaded but she liked it. The room we were in with the eight other tables was poorly lit and did not have all that exciting of an atmosphere. It was a little louder than I care for ecspecially when eating at that price point. If you want a steak this is definitely the place to go. The other item menus are just OK, at least the ones I tried. My biggest complaint is the amount of food, there is simply too much. I'd rather have a choice of a smaller cut on each type of steak and pay a little less than have so much food with leftovers and no room for dessert. We were visiting from out of town so there was no way to take the leftovers with us. Stick to the steak and bring your appetite or split the plate.

Sooo it's an average lunch place, we ended up coming here b/c a few of the locals suggested it as a good place for lunch. What do you get? It's an average lunch place - my buddy and i had some of the lunch menu stuff and it wasn't bad, but it wasn't great. The restaurant itself is actually a nice restaurant with a few different areas that have different sets of seating. We came for lunch but at a busy dinner time, it may feel busy as people will be walking by your table often since the walking flow may be strange. The servers were really nice, sweet tea was....sweet heh - the food was good, although a little pricey for what we got.

Our second time to The Alamo. We found this restaurant on our last visit to the mountains. If you don't mind paying for a steak, it's a great place. It's been COLD in there both times we have been, so you might want to dress accordingly. Even in the summer. Also, the kids love the pack of wax strings they give to occupy them before the meal is ready. Makes time go by fast for them.

The best restaurant in Gatlinburg! Every extra mile worth going away from the 'strip'! That's right, you have to walk al little bit further, or go by car, but don't hesitate! Just go there. We both ordered a different kind of chicken, both very smooth and with fresh ingredients well flavoured! Fresh salad included + one side. Deserts very delicious! Staff friendly and they take very good care of you. Restaurant is divided in small sort of rooms, so you don't have any rumours when it's full with people.

We decided to dine here on our last night in Gatlinburg. It is off of the main drag so it was easy to get in and out. We didn't make any reservations but I think you are supposed to because they asked us, you might want to make one just I'm case. Even without a reservation we only waited 10 minutes. I ordered the New York strip with the garlic butter sauce and my boyfriend got the ribeye. Both steaks were cooked the way we ordered them. I only had 2 bites of mine and then I asked my boyfriend to taste a piece. I asked him if he thought it was salty. He agreed. I like salty foods but my steak was too salty even for me. We called the server over and told her that the steak was too salty and she said that they use a salt rub on it. She asked me if I wanted a regular steak and I told her I did. The new steak was served by the manager. It was less salty but if u don't like salty foods it would probably be too salty for you. My boyfriend's ribeye was great. The service was excellent. So just a tip you might want to ask them if they use the salt rub on the particular steak that you are ordering. All in all it was a positive experience, they made it right!

Came here for our wedding anniversary and our server was named Ben so I knew this was an auspicious start! I ordered the New York Strip with the Crab bisque and sweet potato. It was amazing! The call ahead seating was also the way to go, we only waited 15 minutes to be seated.

This was a safe place to eat since once of the people in our party has a severe peanut allergy. They were easily able to tell her what she could or couldn't choose from on the menu. I chose the Steak Oscar. This was easily the best steak I've ever had. It was fork tender and had such an amazing flavor. The side salad that comes with the meals is very large and really good. We ordered the potato skins to share as an appetizer and they were very good and not as greasy as many places serve them. The Alamo is a bit spendy but after getting one bite of that steak it was totally worth the splurge!

I'm from Texas so I had the pork. A little salty but not overdone which is great. My wife had the bacon wrapped shrimp. Really great. Great burgers off the kids menu for my 2 kids. Big surprise was the enormous wedge salad that came with my chop- really good flavors on everything all around
