I had the steak quesadilla fajita which is one of my standard dishes that I compare all other Mexican restaurants to my favorite back home in Ol' Virginny. This quesadilla was generously stuffed full of steak strips and grilled vegetables. I would have liked a little more queso cheese sauce on it but other than that, it was delicious. The service was excellent. The prices were a tad high compared to most Mexican restaurants I frequent but not outrageous. I would definitely come back when in the area.

Fifth time stopping in here traveling thru. Always has been consistently good. Never had an off time here. Food comes hot, tasety, big servings and they bring you whatever sauces or needs you have cheerfully. Sparkling clean restrooms every time we stop is appreciated while traveling.

Well, after the hot salsa things went down hill fairly quickly. I ordered the carne asada tacos which came with unseasoned rice and beans and a long black hair buried in my pico de gallo... My compadre ordered a beef burrito and said it was like a ball of tasteless mush. We are from Texas and have high standards for Mexican food. This restaurant sadly would not last in Texas. Save some money and hit up the Taco Bell next door.

Super clean. Tasteful decor. Clean bathrooms. REALLY good salsa. I had a beef chimichanga at lunch time with the rice and beans and salad. The service was great. Very chill. Right next to Taco bell. Same price - better quality food.

Driving from Nashville to Knoxville for school, we stopped by here because even middle of nowhere Mexican food sounded good. Walked in and we were promptly seated, the chips and salsa were brought out. The chips were warm and the salsa was cold and extremely good. The Speedy was delicious and a great value. A large queso was enough for everyone to enjoy it before and on our meals. We've stopped here a couple times and have never had any problems. Try itß

What a pleasant surprise this place was! My husband and I stopped in Crossville for the night on a cross-country drive from VA to CA. I will be honest and say that Cancun Mexican was not our first choice for dinner; as a native San Diegan, I've had my fair share of Mexican food (good and bad) and Tennessee was not a place I expected to find good Mexican food, especially Ina small town off I-40. Unfortunately, we happened to be in town at 8pm on a Sunday night and all the other restaurants happened to be closed. So, Cancun Mexican it was! I ordered my usual carne asada tacos while my husband ordered the chicken tacos, which came with rice and beans. (I originally asked if I could have one carne asada taco, one chicken and one carnitas taco, but they weren't having it. When the say "no substitutions" they mean no substitutions! No big deal, hubby and I would just trade.) The rice and beans were so-so -- not bad, but nothing to write home about. But the tacos! The tacos were fantastic! The meat was nicely cooked and super-flavorful. I would've like some some guacamole, cilantro and cheese, but the chicken and carne asada alone were surprisingly fine on their own. Service was good and food came out fairly quickly (although I can't imagine the place getting *that* busy). I probably won't be in Crossville again anytime soon, but if I was and needed a bite to eat, I'd definitely go to Cancun again.

Yelps reviews were right on. Good portions, good prices. I liked the lunch taquitos beat but tried a bite of moms Cancun burrito and it was pretty good too. Salsa had a bit of kick to it. Guacamole was good (came with taquitos). Even tried a small strawberry margarita, good and generous with the tequila. The small is small and $5.

That's a big pile of guacamole... When I ordered the tacos with a "side" of guacamole I received the aberation that is in the photo uploaded. This foothill of guacamole fed our entire table with some to spare. With that being said, the food was pretty good - if not typical - mexican food. Their portions are HUGE, which might have something to do with the time of day we arrived (20 min before closing) so maybe they just had excess that they were trying to get rid of. This place was also packed and seemed to be the social center of the Crossville elite. I would recommend going to this place for some old fashioned mexican and margaritas.

We went here for lunch two days ago and agreed that it was a great choice. We will go back. We liked the authentic Mexican flavors, and portions were ample. I had the enchilada plate and my wife the taco chicken salad. Came with great guacamole. They have more than one location in town, and this is the only one we've been to. Service was prompt and pleasant. Well worth your patronage.

Quick Mexican dinner on the I-40 corridor. I had the carne asada tacos, and the portions were generous. Nothing to get overly excited about. Didn't sample the margaritas they seemed to be fairly proud of on their signage, but I did hear someone at another table rate them a 'meh'.

The fajitas nachos (either chicken or steak) are the best I've had in any Mexican restaurant. Now I've only eaten in Mexican restaurants in the Southeast, so I guess that's not saying much, but if you can't take your private jet down to the actual Cancun or whatever, you know, this'll do. The fajita nachos are covered with a delicious queso blanco, and that really makes the dish. Chimichangas are okay, nothing special. They have the same cheese sauce on them as the fajitas do, but the innards (I always get beef) are just kind of bland each time I've gotten this dish. The guacamole is surprisingly not very good. I think it's also almost straight-up avacado, no real kick to it at all. So go, get the fajita nachos, and enjoy. :)

FIRST: Our waiter tried to upscale me with Margarita sizes. I asked for a regular and he said "No. That's too small." CAN YOU BELIEVE THAT?! I looked at my wife, and we just like, rolled our eyes. NEXT: I ordered a taco salad. I want to say, thanks for chewing up the meat for me before serving it, Cancun. It was like mushy cat food that comes in the can that you pay $10 for. Except, this was covered in grease and sour cream. After we ate, my friend said "Can someone please stick their finger down my throat?!" YEAH!

Good food, fast, friendly service! Plenty of food. Just as good as any other Mexican Restaurant east of the Mississippi. Thid review is on the one by the Hampton Inn. There is another Cancun in town.

As a local i find Cancuns is extremely mediocre at best. When the first restaurant opened it was pretty tasty..fast forward 20 yrs or so...not so much. Think they just stopped caring. The newer one usually seems cleaner then the other location. Food stilll tasteless and gross.

Generous portions for the money. Not the best Mexican food I've ever had but it was okay considering we just pulled off the highway and didn't want fast food. The cheese dip is watery, sweet tea is dull but the good was pretty good. Staff are kind of lazy and slow but nice. I just think it's rude anytime you go Into a place and they speak another language around you KNOWING you can't understand.

We stopped in for lunch while visiting town. We ordered the Nachos Grande and an a la carte Tamale. While we waited for our order they brought us two big baskets of corn chips and salsa. The salsa was a little too spicy for our youngest, but the rest of us liked it. The chips were excellent - very crunchy with a great corn taste. The nachos were incredibly tasty. The only strange thing is that they didn't have very many chips. That's not a problem, just use some of the chips they bring you with the salsa for free. There was ground beef and chicken along with sour cream, cheese, and other good stuff. Highly recommended. The tamale that my wife got is the best she's ever had. I usually don't like tamales, but I tried hers and it was delicious. The service was excellent. We never had to ask for drink refills. Stop at Cancun if you can. You won't be sorry.

Traveling home after the holidays and eating nothing but turkey and filet mignon for a week straight, we stopped here off the interstate because we wanted ANYTHING but American food. I was VERY pleased with our choice. The service was outstanding. Our waiter had 6 tables and a party of more than 20 people. He handled it without missing a beat. Our meal was tasty and fast. Con queso was really good and the tortilla chips were fresh.

"Wait on it". That would be the title of my review. The place was empty when we went in, yet it took well over five minutes for our ambivalent waiter to saunter over from the booth where all the staff were sitting to take our drink order. We were just about to leave, but decided to order. The free chips were good. The salsa was simple, but flavorful. We ordered from the lunch menu- a cheese enchilada, rice and beans, and the beef burrito. Not bad. Good taste. Inexpensive road food that is better than eating at the Taco Bell next door. Think I'd try the Stage Cafe next time when traveling through, though.

Had the beef tacos. The meat was moist and the shell perfectly crunchy. The salsa had a peppery kick which was surprisingly delicious. The staff was very friendly and the owner was present and attentive.

Outstanding margaritas, excellent food. Portion sizes are generous and prices reasonable. Tamales were as good as I have had anywhere.

Lots of cars in the parking lot-a good sign-but we were seated right away. Quick, friendly service and the food was delicious. Chicken and beef fajitas easily would have served two. Their salsa was great- just hot enough. We definitely recommend.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
