Excellent food, prices and Service. True Southern California Mexican food. The best we've had since moving from San Diego! No other Mexican food places we've tried are anywhere as good On taste, prices, or service. Big thumbs up from these two San Diego transplants

Don't believe the hype. This place is a mediocre if not awful mexican restaurant. Honestly taco bell is probably better. Cheap beer is the only good thing about this place. Probably a decent lunch stop if u want to sit down and eat, but its not good food. Very tasteless and pretty gross. Decor is bad as well and the place is kind of dirty. Definitely did not live up to the reviews on yelp. Service was good.

Excellent service! Food wasn't authentic, but much closer than other restaurants out here. The chips were good, but the salsa wasn't spicy at all. The service made up for what the food lacked, the food was decent though. Our waiter was great, he even asked if we were military and applied our discount on his own! We didn't even have to ask for the discount, now that's great service!! The price was great too!!

I've been to a few Mexican restaurants all around Tennessee and Torero's is the ONLY place I have a constant craving for! I've been there more than a few times and have ordered different dishes, and no matter what I order, it's all good! =) They have lunch specials served between 11AM til 3PM, and they also have a dinner combo menu as well, plus they give a 10% military discount! If you want awesome Mexican food, you have to go to Torero's!!! I've tried their burritos, tacos and fajitas, so next on my list is their tortas!!! Oh yes, even if you take out your food, you still get their yummy on the house chips and salsa! What else? This place is very clean, also has a bar with television for all you sports fans- that's all they watch as far as I can tell, but there is a wall between the two dining areas, so if you'd rather sit away from the bar, its totally fine. Finally, the staff is nice and even when you take- out your order, the food stays hot until you get home! Awesome!! As I mentioned earlier, I've been to a few places all around Tennessee, but I've also had Mexican in Mexico, Cali, Texas, Florida, Chicago, and in 20+ different countries and, YES, Torreros is comparable! And YES, I love Mexican food- just wish I knew how to make it this yummy!!! Enjoy!

BLUF: Best Mexican restaurant in Clarksville, TN. As a guy from California and a guy who has tasted the wonderful edible delights of Central America, Toreros is by far the best Mexican restaurant in Clarksville. If you dine in or take out, you will be provided with a great heaping stack of homemade, warm tortilla chips. If you dine in, they will also provide what I think is homemade salsa served in a black, stone mortar. Really good, but don't eat too much of it (it's hard to stop once you start) as the main dishes are great. My go to dish is the Pan Filo, which is this 12-inch burrito filled with your choice of beef or chicken and all the fixings of a normal burrito. Then, melted cheese is found glazed over the top of the burrito. I like to use the salsa from the tortilla chips and use that to spice up the burrito. Conclusion: If you're craving Mexican food and live in Clarksville, this is the place you want to visit.

This was our first visit and I can't wait to go back. Not only was out food excellent but it was the best service we've had in Clarksville. Our waiter was very helpful in choosing what to order, and had a delightful attitude. I wish I could give ten stars, five for food and five for service. We definitely will visit again. I had way to much food, can't remember how to spell what I ordered. But it was grilled chicken, beans, vegetables and cheese all in a stone bowl. Served with some tortillas and lettuce, quac, and sour cream. It's huge and very shareable!

In my opinion this is one my the best Mexican places in Clarksville, TN. They have a great Amhiem (sp?) Burrito. It is a huge burrito and a great vegetarian options!! I typically get the chicken chimichanga, I get mine soft and rice instead of beans. Overall, it is a small local restaurant, not a big chain. The family that runs it is very nice to their customers. My ONLY negative would be their salsa is hit or miss. Some days it is amazing some days it is completely bland. But that is by far my only complaint!

    (4)
  • Daphne B.

Went based on reviews, I was not impressed everything was very bland. Nothing tasted authentic, it was fresh but that's the only positive thing about it. Sorry....

  • Victoria M.

Probably the best Mex I've had in Clarksville. Get the queso fundido - real cheese and chorizo - nothing from a packet! We also had the molcajete - grilled mixture of beans, cheese, chicken, beef, onions and other veggies to make tacos. Closest thing to a botana on the menu, if you know what those are! Margaritas were cheap during happy hour but overly sugary. I taught our waiter, Luis, how to "dress" a beer. Chips in the free chips and salsa were warm, but didn't seem fresh or homemade. My suggestion to the facility: take away the tables after 10pm and play salsa music!

C- for decor A- for a really good Torero's Chimi with steak, chicken, chorizo, spinach, onions, and cheese sauce. Really good. C - My wife's enchiladas supremas were perfectly average. C - House salsa was decent but needed a kick of cilantro. Usually salsa doesn't make you think of tomato flavor first.

Very good Mexican food. Quick friendly lunch service. The waiter was very helpful choosing between two menu options. Clean restrooms. The only bad thing for us is it's not convenient to I-24 ... but worth the 5-minute drive.

The best Mexican in Tennessee. I'm from California n so are they. Yah! So good to know we're finally getting more places to eat in Clarksville. I'm vegetarian n they have alot more choices than other places. I ordered my dish without cheese but it came with cheese n they quickly fixed it. I'm just very picky. The foods so much better than what I thought. They gave me a discount because of the mistake. Where can u get service like that? I'm coming back n I'm bringing everyone I know.

Had, a #8 (burrito, enchalada, and taco). The food was good, and came out really quick. My wife is from New Mexico, she thought the food was decent. The Sopaipilla was a disappointment at the end of an otherwise great meal.

The people here are professional and friendly. They also have a great variety of Mexican food. The prices are fair and the drinks are very good. The food comes out really quick too! I've been to La casita on providence and they're food was not that great and it smelled like someone's basement.

This is by far the best mexican food I've had since visiting my in-laws in southern CA. The taste and quality of the food has no match. I personnally love their fish tacos but what ever youj decide to order, you won't be disappointed.

  • Heather H.

So. full. of. burrito. Rather, so full of Anaheim burrito, which is a chili relleno WRAPPED in a burrito and covered in cheese sauce. It's 9 million calories, but sometimes you gotta say eff it. It's the best thing on the menu. Oh, and if I could shout this next part from the rooftop, I totally would: FRESH HOMEMADE HORCHATA ON THE WEEKENDS! I really love this place. It reminds me so much of home, from the people to the food.

    (5)
  • Jen J.

The torta (Mexican sandwich) was good....but by far not the best torta I have ever had. It doesn't even rank in the top three. That is not to say the place isn't worthy of visit. The service was quick and friendly. The frozen strawberry margarita was delicious! The chips were crispy and salsa fresh; lastly, the Flan was rich and creamy. All that food for under $20 after tips. You can't beat that.

BEWARE!!! THERE WAS A LIVE COCKROACH IN MY SALAD! When I said something to the waitress she laughed! So I asked to speak to a manager and she laughed at me and did not at all take the situation seriously. The week before that incident there was hair in my flautas. Which I mentioned to the waiter but didn't make a big fuss about because, it happens. But, a LIVE cockroach in my salad is truly disgusting and the managements reaction to it was equally disgusting. I will never be going back here.

Hubby & I went here a few months back and I didn't know it was on Yelp or I definitely would have reviewed then.... Sorry, but this place is horrible. Nothing even close to authentic mexican fare. Seems like they get all their ingredients from the shelf at Walmart...part of my meal was a cheese quesadilla that had, none other than, COLBY JACK cheese in it. Colby Jack??? At a "mexican" restaurant?? Um, no. Nothing tasted fresh or authentic in the least, service sucked (guy was too busy talking on the phone to really care much about us), the interior decor left much to be desired, everything was over-priced for what you would get in a high-school cafeteria. No, no, I take that back. I think we had better mexican food in our cafeteria. Save your money, go to Taco Bell. You will get more of an "authentic" fare than what you will here. Sodas were good...nice, fresh, and carbonated.

THE best place for customer service in Clarksville. Seriously, I have never had so much fun and felt so welcome into a restaurant before. The server was really nice to my son, just goofing off and making him laugh while we were waiting for our food. When the food came out I was a little unimpressed with the "side salad" the lettuce was a little wilted but thats definitely NOT why I came here so I decided to dig into my ginormous chimichanga... and I was not disappointed! Super yummy! We also tried a seafood appetizer which was a flattened hard taco shell with avacado, some white fish and shrimp with lime on it. That was really good, their seafood was grade A fresh and juicy!! I can't wait to go back, this place left a great impression on me. The lady who owns this place offers a military discount for active duty and she ships out salsa and chips to the troops who are deployed... talk about a military friendly restaurant! P.S. THE BEER IS DIRT CHEAP HERE

i realize that i'm not in arizona anymore...i can't expect mexican food of the caliber that i can get in the southwest. i went to toreros with this in mind. it met my expectations (which isn't hard, since i super lowered them). the salsa was...let me put this nicely...pathetic. i felt like i was eating tomato sauce. not spicy, not flavorful, not....good. we asked for something hotter and got what i think is their hot sauce. blah. we ordered the cheese sauce which was awesome, especially when mixed with the hot sauce. the chips were good. i ordered a combo: tamale, burrito & chile relleno. chile rellenos are my standard mexican food standard (i have a standard for most types of cuisine)...if you make good rellenos, i will come. their relleno was good. not amazing, not awesome just...acceptable. the cheese was tasty, all the seeds were out...but they put red sauce on it. i despise red sauce. and i would have overlooked this, except that i had asked for green sauce on my tamale...if i ask for it on one thing, wouldn't you ask if i wanted it on everything? so not only did my relleno have red sauce, but my burrito did too...i didn't ASK for a smothered burrito...why would you put sauce on it? and if you were going to, put the green sauce on...OR ASK ME! ugh. anyway, the hubby got some really tasty fajitas. i seem to recall shrimp, chicken and chorizo making his way from his plate to my mouth...and happiness ensued. this is the only reason the place gets three stars...otherwise, i would only warrant two. not planning on going back anytime soon...unless all the other mexican places around here are pathetic.

Again, I am from Texas so its hard to impress me. That is why I only order grilled foods. lol. However the waiter remembered us from two months ago and he was really nice. I had the Brisket Quesadilla.. it was pretty good. and I have had the Carne Asada - Grilled Steak (safest dish in clarksville). Over all it was good and I will return. Based on the reviews, i ill have to try the chimichanga or the molcajete. I say you should try it! Military Discount! Gotta Love it!

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
