I'm a big chinese buff, but I'm always nervous about nutrition and how many calories are actually in what I'm eating. I'm also concerned with my budget. Pei Wei is perfect for both, even though it's technically an Asian diner. I can go online and see the nutrition facts for everything, then I can spend under ten dollars once I get there. If you're not familiar, it's kind of set up like Panera. You walk up to order, get your own drinks, silverware, etc. You take a number and they bring you your food. The veggie and tofu lo mein is my favorite (400 calories BTW), but I'm a fan of their fried rice too. Portion sizes are pretty decent. Crab wontons aren't bad either. It's definitely worth a try. Parking at this location is never a problem either, which is really nice.

Sometimes there is a jerky build asian guy taking orders but the food is always great. Never had any problems with it's quality.

I had tried Pei Wei once before in Philadelphia area but was not very impressed with that. I decided to give this one a try.. But unfortunately, i did not like this one much.. I tried their Pad Thai, and somehow it just dint taste right.. It was greasy and had some taste of ginger sauce and I just did not like it. My friend tried their noodles and fried rice and even she was not fond of either of the dishes.

Knowing this is a chain owned by PF Changs, I have been anticipating trying Pei Wei. We visited on a Sunday evening. There wasnt a huge crowd in the place but it was busy. I ordered the kung pao beef over soba noodles and a cup of the wonton soup. The boyfriend ordered king pao chicken with fried rice and a bowl of hot and sour soup. His hot and sour soup was exactly the same as PF Changs but a little thinner. The kung pao chicken was tangy and could have used a little more spice. The option to add spice was there. We didnt opt for it because we didnt know how spicy it was. The chicken was tender in texture and fried rice was really good. My kung pao beef was awesome. The beef was tender and the sauce was savory. Needed more spice but still very good. The soba noodles were yummy. Perfect texture and fit well with the dish. My wonton soup was the best soup ive ever had in an asian place. The broth was light with herbs floating in the broth. The wontons were light and had a yummy filling. I would definitely go back and looking forward to our next time we find a Pei Wei.

We had the sesame dish with white rice and the Thai Dynamite with brown rice. They were both OK. Ran us $15 for two small-sized dishes. Like a Panda Express without the drive thru. PW is OK but I prefer PE. Customer Service was great and the restaurant looked clean despite being late.

Pie Way is my favorite Chinese joint. You can enjoy your favorite dishes and get them in a healthy option. You can always steam your meats and get extra veggies for a healthier diet. Plus they have brown rice and a awesome unsweet tea. This location is Always ran efficiently. I will Continue to be a regular here.

The quality and consistency of the food at this location has been on the decline over the past couple of years. I keep willing to give them another try, but they haven't been able to recapture that flavor they had in the beginning.

This meal ruined my day. I'd have been better off getting the $5 combo from the Chinese place in the mall. The service was poor, the staff was rude, and the food was all around bland and cheap. All four of the people in my party hated their meals. Never coming here again.

I love this place. The food served is always great in taste & the portion sizes are good. You can also ask for brown rice here. Prices are very reasonable. Be prepared to have a hard time finding a parking spot and a table at lunch time on weekdays. (It takes at least 15 minutes for your order to arrive). I personally feel all items taste better with rice than noodle.

I used to thoroughly enjoy this restaurant, but continued changes to menu and condiments are turning me away. The company clearly wanted to change its demographics. They have succeeded and I may no longer be interested. I don't know if this location is under new management or something else, but the service on this trip has been complete chaos. Really out of character from experiences over the past several years. No longer is this close to a traditional restaurant. Management seems to have moved more closely to semi-fast food. No untensils, napkins, or plates on the table. Bare. All customers are required to stand in a mob at the soft drink machines to fish self-serve for napkins, utensils, etc. It used to be a fast moving mob dealing primarily with drink service. Now, it's just a free-for-all in a space too small for that many people. Had to drop another star. VERY DISAPPOINTING!

New menu items are bland. Sushi tastes pre-made and refrigerated (not fresh). Kids meal has no vegetables. Cashiers don't have access to an in store allergy menu and are not equipped by management to handle inquiries about food allergies. Overall not a Pei Wei experience that will have me returning.

Waltimore likes. Orange peel chicken on white rice is a fave. Orange tea is very good. It gets busy at lunch, so go early or wait for a table. (I don't know why others complain about service - this is a "fast casual" restaurant, so there is no wait staff. You order at the counter, pay, take a number, and have a seat. Folks bring your food pretty quickly. What's to not like?)

I have not been to this restaurant in three years so perhaps my expectations were old-fashioned, but I was not impressed today. First of all, they no longer carry my favorite dish, coconut curry vegetables. Secondly, they brought me white rice instead of the brown rice that I ordered. The waiter was very kind and I appreciated his attitude. The meal was dry and the rice was drier. Thirdly, I had to ask for napkins which had been out of stock for a prolonged period of time. They also ran out of lids for the cups. Now I understand I did go during the peak lunch hour but isn't that when a restaurant should be even more careful to keep up with the demands of the customers' needs? It just might be another three years before I come back again.

I love Pei Wei and this location is as consistent as the others I have visited in the past. Friendly service, food cooked to order and served hot at a reasonable price. My Mother has celiac and Pei Wei is her favorite place to eat out when she visits in Nashville. They have a gluten free menu with options that are not "marked up" or different from the other menu items the rest of us order. Mom can enjoy a meal without a bigger tab or having to sacrifice what she likes, which is typically the case when eating out with her condition. Gets pretty busy on the weekends and during lunch hour, but it is definitely one of my "go-to" places.

I would normally give them 5 stars but tonight our food was not good. First time in 5 years that we had this problem!! I always get the Pad Thai, my husband gets the honey crispy chicken, kids get the lo mien and edamame. It's usually, fresh, tasty and great quality. The staff is very friendly and accommodating to our needs (when we have them). Tonight we felt like our meals were not up to par. Nothing tasted right. We are hoping it's a one time issue. Pei Wei is owned by PF Changs (FYI), and is similar rod but lower end, more of a "fast food made fresh" concept. Overall, we normally have great experiences here and will definitely give it another try. Prices are very good for the amount and quantity of food you get.

Pei Wei is another one of those places that I never crave or would choose on my own but will go to if someone else wants to. I don't really like ordering at the counter because sometimes I need a minute to decide what I want and there's not really room in there to stand around looking over the menu. Plus side, the food has always been consistently good and appears to be fresh. However, if I'm in the mood for "Chinese" food I actually prefer the greasy, not so healthy stuff. Lettuce wraps and spring rolls are yummy. 2 meals and 1 drink came to $22. You can get the same thing plus 2 egg rolls for $16 at China Wok/Palace/Dragon etc. Overall, it's an ok place, just not really my thing.

Take-out order fulfillment is NOT this restaurant's strong suit. NEVER have I arrived home with exactly what I ordered from this Brentwood store location. This can't just be happening to me, can it?! Today, I was the first take out order of the day (ie, I was the first customer standing at the door at 11 am when the doors opened). Still, somehow the kitchen, supposedly double-checked by the clerk, put BROWN rice in my bag instead of FRIED rice. GEEZ. Maybe try coding Brown differently from Fried on the order, or name them differently, or train your kitchen or staff to inspect their work better. Normally, I wouldn't YELP this kind of complaint, but after 5-6 times of getting home from the Brentwood Pei Wei with someone else's order or something I didn't order or something missing from my order, I think I just have to say something. Take my advice, don't order carry-out at the Pei Wei in Brentwood! If you do, don't trust that what you ordered will be inside the bag they give you when you drive home.

Very quick service. Decent food for how quickly they bring it out. Not too many complaints. Outdoor seating is a plus.

Oh, Pei Wei....how far you have fallen. Even though I typically stay away from most chain restaurants, Pei Wei was one of the exceptions to the rule. This is not the case anymore. It's not just any one thing, but it's a number of things that have happened over the last couple of years. I know it's probably been said before, but I just have to say it. Why would Pei Wei purposefully get rid of one of its best dishes? The dish I am referring to is the Spicy Noodles. The first time I tasted this dish, I remember being impressed that the fast food version of P.F. Changs could come up with a dish that was better than anything Changs had on their menu. Then out of nowhere, Pei Wei drops it from the menu! HUGE MISTAKE. You lost a regular customer that day. Even though I found myself going there a lot less, friends would still drag me along sometimes, so I had to find a replacement dish. The Dan Dan Noodles became my regular order; despite the fact that they are pretty good, they are no Spicy Noodles. This was true until last night. The Dan Dan Noodles were just plain gross. They were very sticky and overcooked, and the sauce was bland. The cucumbers and sprouts were limp and not fresh and crisp. It tasted like generic Asian out of a microwave box. So that was the last straw. I'm sorry Pei Wei, it's time to break up. It's not me...it's you. If you come to your senses and bring back Spicy Noodles....call me, you have my number.

Pei Wei is owned by PF Chang's but it's cheaper and faster. While it is the fast food version of PF Chang's, it is no less tasty. The food is delicious and they offer a nice variety. This particular location can get very busy on weekdays between 11:30 am and 12:30 pm. I'd suggest going outside of that timeframe if you want to get in and out faster. The restaurant is dimly lit and decorated nicely. Orders are taken at a counter and you are given a number. Customers are expected to wait in line and order before sitting, so after you order, the server will attempt to point you in the right direction for a table. Drinks are self-serve as are napkins, straws, and fortune cookies. They also have a small selection of beer. Once the food has been prepared, an employee will bring it to your table. There isn't an actual wait staff here. The food has a nice presentation and tastes delicious. I ordered the Basil Thai Chicken with brown rice. It was very good and the cost was under $10.00. I will be returning in the future.

best food . Food is so testy that it always have long waiting queue during lunch hours . Very fresh with open kitchen .

Famously Asian Fusion, Pei Wei serves great Asian style meals fast. They are Gluten aware and have a menu to prove it, be sure to ask for Gluten Free Soy Sauce too. Busy at Lunch, get there early. Meals cooked to order and the service is very quick, seats open up pretty quickly. Try the Orange Green Tea, very refreshing !

  • Matt S.

I would say what I had here is "meh." You can definitely tell it's the cheaper version of P.F. Chang's. The honey seared chicken was bland, and then dry with the rice. The appetizer we shared (lettuce wraps) was actually pretty good, but turned out to be the best part of the whole meal. For cheap Asian cuisine, it's exactly what you'd expect, so if that appeals to you - go for it. Everyone else, I'd suggest a pass.

I have visited this Pei Wei several times and prior to my last visit I would have given them a 3 or a 4.... But while the food was tasty, the service was horrid. The order taker was surly and rolled his eyes when asked about the entrees. They were not managing the tables--- it is self-seating, but they used to suggest groups of 2 sit at tables for 2 rather than block a table for 6. And then the food itself came out one piece at a time for more than 20 minutes...and the food delivery people apparently had no idea what order went with what table/number. "did you order hot sour soup?" "no, wonton." the guy shuffles off to the next table. Then he brought me a fried teriyaki rive entree and said it was my pad Thai. I said that pad thai was noodles, and he said "no, it can come with rice." um. No. It cannot. I am not sure if they had a brand new crew or a change in management or what.... The from beginning to end, this was a bad experience.

Delicious! Glad to find a gluten free menu. Everyone cleaner their plate in our party - spicy Korean, salad, soup and rolls all were delicious.

  • Jemina B.

Oh, Pei Wei - even though my inner rebel doesn't want to like you because you're a chain, I can't help it. You're delicious, cost-conscious, and quick. You're everything I love in a restaurant, especially during work-day lunches. If you like a little spice, get the Pad Thai - I rarely get anything else. The Lo Mein offers a less fiery meal, and is quite good, as well. Bonus: all the fortune cookies you can eat! The portions are generous, and you'll be hard-pressed to eat the entire bowl or plate you've ordered. Leftovers - bonus!! If you want the tastiness of PF Chang's but don't want to pay the price, go to Pei Wei!

Generally I get the Pad Thai.....and scoop it up like its asian crack (and I'm always tweakin' a tasty hit of peanut sauce) Well today.....I ventured forth into the land of Korean BBQ (or I should say unremarkable Korean BBQ). This Korean BBQ marks the least pleasant experience I've had in an asian restaurant excluding an airport Panda express (and that doesn't really count). I'd never had Korean BBQ before....but the flavor didn't compare favorably to any 1) Asian food I'd had 2) Any wings place with sauce (and I've had my share of wing with whack sauce) If you have the opportunity to have the Korean BBQ...please walk the other way. It would rank in the worst 3 in either ranking system. Its hard for me to remember a less enjoyable food experience in the last 3 to 4 years. I have zero idea how this made it past the market research people at Pei Wei. This dish should come with a warning label "Warning: May Really Suck." This dish is entirely beneath Pei Wei. I'm only giving this a 3 because of the overall experience which was probably a 2.5 out of 5)

I have been to Pei Wei before, and stopped here the other day to grab some lunch. Pei Wei is in my consideration set because they have a gluten free menu. I am thankful they have a gluten free menu, but it is a little short. I think there are 5 or 6 items you can order, including entrees and salads. I had the Sweet and Sour Chicken and brown rice. It was very yummy. I'd eat here again if I ever felt the need, but it's not on the top of my list.

I love PF Chang's, and Pei Wei is perfect for the casual dinner and quick take out. I will always get the lettuce wraps, they are my absolute favorite. I should have stopped there yesterday both for my waistline, my pocketbook and my desire to continue admiring Pei Wei. Well, I didn't and so here goes my not so good review of Pei Wei. The Dynamite Shrimp - UGH!! My daughter had the kids Honey Ginger Chicken - BLAH!! It was like all the batter they used to deep fry the meats in had gone bad. Not just that, the brown rice was undercooked. Before you say anything, I know that brown rice isn't as soft as white rice, but on multiple occasions it was down right crunchy. Since I called in my order and picked it up, I had very little interaction with the staff there, but the interaction I did have was like the food - UGH!! The girl at the register actually seemed to be very condescending and treated me like I was not worth her time. Hey Chica, this is fast food Chinese, just because you are part of PF Changs, doesn't mean that you can throw sit down restaurant attitude at me, they don't even do that at the real PF Changs. So really if it weren't for the lettuce wraps, I wouldn't go back. If I am going to get fast Chinese food, I will go to one of the million China Palaces, or Panda Palaces, or China Panda Palaces in the area. At least the food is American Chinese not Wanna Be Gourmet Asian Fusion.

I'm not a fan of PF Chang's, and I much prefer going to Pei Wei for an Asian style lunch. I like the Orange Peel (with chicken), and the Pad Thai is pretty good too. Actually, most things here are pretty good. Lunch for under $10 is totally possible here.

  • Brandon L.

Big fan of this place! This place has some very tasty dishes to taste! This place reminds me of a fast and cheaper version of PF Chang's. I am pretty sure they are owned by the same people. The food at Pei Wei is very high quality and made to order. As soon as you order your dish of choice they are cooking it up in the open air kitchen. I am a big fan of the open air kitchen they have. It give the place a cool vibe. You can see the flames from the stoves as the dudes cook your food in the massive woks. I really do not think you can go wrong with any choice off the menu here. They have such a wide variety of yummy culinary adventures you can experience. Everything I have had here has been superb. The food has always tasted fresh and full of flavor! It has the feel and taste of Americanized Chinese Food. That is a very tasty type of food I must say. I highly recommend this establishment to anyone looking for yummy eats!

Came here for lunch with some coworkers on a business trip....It's the usual Chinese take out nothing too special. Wasn't too greasy and the price was decent. One suggestion come early to beat the lunch crowd.

The food is average, pricing is okay, but the take out service is HORRIBLE. We often order lunch for our staff and periodically one of them will suggest Pei Wei for a change of pace. That is not likely to happen again as on the last five orders, four of them have been improperly filled. Shame on us for not warning the person that was picking up the order to be sure the LETTUCE wrap order actually had LETTUCE with it. HELLO??!!! LETTUCE wraps. LETTUCE. What is so hard about this. And in trying to recount, the same error has been made at least four times in the last year. That is on us for not checking EVERY order EVERY time. Excuses about being short staffed are NOT acceptable. Slower service maybe but failure to quality control an order must never be an issue with staffing. WORD OF WARNING TO ANYONE PLANNING TO ORDER TAKE OUT - Inspect EVERY item in the order, even if it means opening up EVERY container to confirm that the order has everything it is supposed to and nothing more.

  • Colette R.

I tried the Korean BBQ and was not impressed. I had lunch with six others and all of their food looked healthier and much better than mine. I ate at the Green Hills location and it was tasty. Probably just the dish. In no comparison with Korean Bulgogi. It tasted chinese.

  • Melanie B.

I really enjoy eating here. The food is great and most of the dishes are made when ordered so I am able to make changes according to my preferences. The prices are very reasonable and the portions are great! I can eat on one dish for three or four meals! Great for take out as well. Even the chocolate chip cookie is excellent. Would be awesome if they had delivery! Sometimes the lines can get a bit long, since it is the kind of place where you go to the counter to order and they bring it to you when it's done. I don't like PF Chang's, but I love Pei Wei. And I think the take out portions are larger than the portions when you sit down.Well, it seems like it to me.

Awful. Pretty much the worst "Asian" food I've tried. I'm not a fan of "Asian" restaurants in general, because I find it ridiculous when a restaurant attempts to lump together all the diverse Asian cuisines into one menu, often more representative of the Americanized generic version of Chinese food. I'm part Korean, and the "Korean" food at this place is nothing like the real thing; I almost burst out laughing after tasting their attempt at it. Not only is the food totally fake and misrepresentative of actual Asian dishes, it also tastes horrible. I can't even scrounge up any praise for the decor, service, ambiance, or anything else. It's a total madhouse, people are cranky and rushed, and it has amongst the tackiest pseudo-exotic decor I've ever seen. To top it off, I developed major GI upset after eating here. I will never set foot in one of these places again. Ugh.

I have never enjoyed a meal at any location!cheap food with no flavor and the locations are not clean. I understand some people may like low quality food and some people don't care but if you want to pay a decent amount of money, pick somewhere else or set your expectations very low. The location in cool springs served me awful fried rice with hair it

At first site seemed like a good place. Dining room was busy and long line at register. However, food was very salty and covered in sauce. Dining room is incredibly loud and we experience flys and other insects (though sat by the door). In general we thought this place was too expensive and not worth the wait / value.

Summer rolls were tasty. Lo mein was great. Recommended by my sis and brother in law who live in Nashville. I wouldn't recommend the tofu again.

I love Pei Wei, I've been coming for years and I don't remember being disappointed yet. Usually I pay a little more here than a normal 'Chinese' restaurant but it's soooo much better. The sushi is pretty good, too. I love the soup, tea and the chicken lettuce wraps. I have tried most of the entrees too. The only thing I wish they had one North of Nashville and had coupons!

Chinese Cuisine

The popularity of Chinese food in America can be adjudicated by the appearance of China Town in many major cities in the United State of America. The popular trend of ordering or opting for Chinese take away food isn't unknown in America. Chinese take away food comes to rescue when you're too tired from work or too exhausted to cook. No one can resist the temptation of eating spicy noodles, shrimp, chicken, beef or pork cooked in the sweet and spicy sauce. The cooking method of authentic Chinese food is a lot different compared to what is served in America.

Generally, Chinese use dark meat small bones and organs to cook dishes but this changes when you are eating American-Chinese fusion food prepared using white boneless meat cooked with broccoli, carrots and onions. Back in China, the food is less spicy and oily as they favor steaming and braising method for cooking the most popular dishes. So, if you have a taste for authentic Chinese food, then try finding a real Chinese restaurant in the city. You can also try the most popular fusion Chinese food like Pecking Duck, Chicken Feet, Hot Pot, Shrimp Dumpling Soup, Mapo Tofu, Wontons, Chop Suey, Egg Rolls and not to forget Fortune Cookies.

There are not many restaurants in America serving authentic Chinese food. A little research on Restaurant Listings directory can help you locate the best Chinese restaurants in the city. Chinese cuisine is continuously evolving, and you can find a variety of dishes categorized as the food for lactose intolerant, gluten intolerant, vegan, vegetarian, and diabetic friendly. So, if you have a group of friends with different taste patterns, save the hassle and visit the nearest Chinese restaurant in your city.
