While I've only eaten the sushi at Minami, I can say that it was pretty decent. I live in Miami now, and the prices at Minami in Brentwood are incredibly affordable! Some 6-8 piece sushi rolls are $5, and the most expensive is only $12 or so. I visited Minami one week night right at the time they opened for dinner. My table needed drink refills and are server was nowhere to be found. And we were the only ones in the restaurant! Maybe she was in the back preparing food, but it was near Christmas time and there wasn't another soul around. Minami is pretty good and inexpensive, but I think I'd rather pay more and get better service and quality. When I'm back in Nashville, I'll probably eat it again, since it's affordable and close to my mom's house.

Due to the close proximity to our house, we really wanted to like this place but unfortunately it was not meant to be... When we first entered, one other person was sitting inside. We went to a hibachi grill table and saw two cooks tucked away in the far corner laying on chairs asleep. There was only one waitress at the time. Even with only one other customer she still couldn't find time to tend to us consistently. Our hibachi cook cooked our meal with the attitude of completing a monotonous mundane task to reach "break time". The miso soup was lacking and their sauces were nothing special. There were frozen vegetables mixed together with fresh ones, the sushi was extremely small and on the same quality level with the Kroger next door. My girlfriend put her arm down on the table and was cut by an unknown object from a previous diner. The food is average at best but it has the price tag of a higher end restaurant. When you pay that much, you expect a memorable and pleasant dining experience. They obviously have stopped caring about their restaurant a long time ago and the general public should too.

The food was great! The Owner, Ms. Lee, is lovely! The Teppan tables were as good as any in Hawaii and the atmosphere was perfect! We had a great time and I will go there many more times before I leave Middle Tennessee! Love, Love the fried spaghetti noodles at the bar. Clever idea for munchies!

Fantastic. I ordered the Winter Salmon roll and it was really really good. I have probably been to Minami 3 times. This is the first review I am writing but could have easily written 5 star reviews for the other 2 times I went. I have not had a bad meal there.

We went for a birthday Saturday night. We ordered sushi, and that was good. We ate hibachi and it was good. Gosh I just can't quite put my finger on the problems here. We had steak, chicken, salmon, and shrimp. The steak and shrimp were good. The chicken and fish were just annihilated. The chicken in particular. The soup, I don't know, it was just a bowl of broth. The salad was ok, a little sad. If I had any complaints, I would have to say there are a few little things. Hibachi is expensive! No two ways about it. $20 per plate. This place has paper napkins, cheap little school cafeteria forks. I know this sounds little, but literally, the place was dead, on a Saturday night. A restaurant can not survive like that. They need to re-evaluate something. Oh and learn how to cook chicken and salmon. If you like sushi, that was not too shabby. I originally wrote this on my phone, so I have the opportunity to update it in one fail swoop. I went there during lunch with a friend, and I ordered a sushi lunch, and an extra roll. I planned on giving my friend a couple of pieces of the california roll, since that is the only sushi she will eat. The waitress (owner?) says "Oh you big eater. A lot of food!" Really? God! Yeah I ate it all! 2 1/2 rolls! Do you really say stuff like that to people? If I was selling food, I'd be like, yeah, order more! Not trying to shame them. But I do like their sushi. She got the vegetable lunch. It was the hibachi vegetables and it came with a big pile of fried rice. Looked good. I wish they had fresh brewed tea. All in all, it's not bad. I'm still not sure that they have enough business to survive.

I don't like writing negative reviews, but sometimes you just have to. I stopped by Minami for a quick lunch today - the place was pretty empty. When I was greeted, I said "it's just me" and the lady said "awww", as if to say "you poor thing!" I thought it was kinda weird....I'm not a sad lot, I just happened to be by myself today! After that I was seated and started looking over the sushi menu. The lunch menu is pretty limited....there are some bento boxes, and 4 sushi combos: 1) Cali & Alaska, 2) spicy tuna and spicy salmon, and 3 and 4 were sushi/sashimi combos. I really didn't want any of the combos so I looked over the big sushi menu, then the server came by. She tried to convince me to purchase a lunch combo rather than just order sushi off the menu (which I thought was strange), but after looking it over I settled with the #2. The lunch combos, including the bento boxes, do not come with soup and salad - it's one or the other. I'm a huge fan of miso soup so I opted for the soup, and then added a salad extra as well. When I received the soup, I realized it was not miso soup. It was basically a bowl of chicken broth. Tasted fine but very boring and not what I expected. The salad was fine but nothing interesting...just iceberg lettuce and ginger dressing. As far as the sushi....it came out so quickly that I knew it wasn't freshly made. I guess since it's a lunch special they pre-make a bunch and then just plate them up when you order them. This isn't the worst thing in the world, but the sushi wasn't that good. It wasn't gross or fishy, it just wasn't very good. There was WAY too much rice in the rolls.....I ended up raking off a bunch of it. My overall summary of this place is sloppy, uninspired food. I won't come here again!

Came here for lunch twice, both on Saturday afternoons, and will be back. Both times, we were the only guests in the restaurant. Lunch prices were excellent, and meals were cooked at our table by a talented and funny chef. It loses a star for the prices on the dinner menu, we would never come after lunch - just way too expensive. For those looking for a good hibachi lunch, I highly recommend.

Tried this place after getting a coupon in the mailer. The hibachi dinner was great, and the chef was very friendly and talented (I think his name is Eddie). Sashimi was excellent quality but a bit overpriced ($9 for 5 thin slices). The sushi was so-so, in my opinion. Tried a rainbow roll and the Mexican roll. The rainbow roll was pretty good, but the Mexican roll didn't have much flavor (and it was supposed to be spicy!). We would go back for the hibachi grill but probably not for the sushi. Service was friendly but slow, honestly, despite the seemingly slow night (maybe 4 other tables).

This place is smack dab middle of the road Japanese cuisine. Not great, but not bad. The sushi was good, the hibachi was okay. I would not travel far to visit this place but in a pinch, a good meal. Finding a table won't be a problem. Only two grill tables were filled at 6:30 on the Saturday night we went.

I'd been dying to try this place for a while since it's right next to our favorite Mexican joint, but for whatever reason, we hadn't made it in. We finally did, and I'm so glad! This is going to be added to our repertoire of favorite restaurants. Minami offers sushi, hibachi, and a Japanese menu. From what I can tell, it appears to be a family-owned business, and the service is exceptional. We didn't do sushi or hibachi this go-round, but we plan to do hibachi next time. Neither of us is crazy about sushi, but I would imagine it's on par with what you can get around Nashville and maybe better. It looked as though they offered several types of rolls for those who are in the mood. I had scallops with stir-fried rice, and my husband had sirloin with stir-fried rice. The portions were generous, the veggies fresh, and I don't know what was in the salad dressing, but it was tasty! I wasn't crazy about the miso soup, but I've never been a big fan of that anyway. We didn't do dessert, and I'm not sure what they offered for it, but maybe we'll check that out the next time around.

A-OK is what best describes this restaurant, Nothing really to boast about, limited menu food is mediocre, didn't care for the soup at all! Service was good, we were greeted by a nice lady who showed us our seats and gave us our menus. Not in a rush to return.....

Went with chicken teriyaki today. Everything was good. I think the name has changed. Overall good food and service.

This is my favorite place to visit for hibachi. I have never been disappointed when I come here for dinner. The Chef's special is perfect if you are splitting with someone!
