My favorite burrito place. They stopped serving fajita peppers which really put it over the top, but it's still great. They usually have brisket or pork which are both tremendous.

It had been years since I'd been into Chile Burrito, but I purchased a Sharing Spree there because you can't beat half off Mexican food! The food was good... it's a little different because the main cheese they offer isn't shredded, but slices and they grill everything in front of you. The kids meals are more than adequate for small kids and I was able to get a regular burrito and a kids meal for right at $10, so not bad that we could feed our family of 4 for about $20. We'll go back!

This is my favorite build-a-burrito type of restaurant. The closet competition in Nashville is probably Baja Burrito or Blue Coast Burrito. From what I understand, these two places are the same thing but when they are franchised they change the name, maybe? Either way, they have the exact same menu. (baja and blue coast) Chile Burrito has the freshest ingredients of these types of restaurants. Specifically, I think that their chicken has the best flavor of any of these types of restaurants and the fruit tea is great! If you want to try something that might be a little healthier than I would suggest giving the burrito-in-a-bowl a try. It is pretty much all the fixings of a burrito without the tortilla.

This place has the most amazing nachos! The shredded chicken with queso, yummy! Great spot to go for lunch.

Chile Burrito may not be original but how many restaurants in this part of town are? They do offer a few things that other places don't. These include vegetarian tamales (these are a special and not listed on the menu but they do have them quite frequently), horchata, and an extremely good tomatillo salsa. It's the little things like these hard to find items that make me so happy.

Though this place is no Taco Express (quod vide), I'd rather make the trip here than suffer through that far-overrated baja place on Thompson Lane. CB grills whole the burrito after building instead of steaming the tortilla beforehand, so it's warm and slightly crispy, not slimy and tepid like that other place. Make sure you are quick enough to say "no cheese slice" before he puts the cheese slice (triangle of muenster, wth?!) in your burrito. I think that's the non-mexican owner's input. Whatever you get, just ask the guy behind the glass how he likes it, and agree. This usually means onions and cilantro and hot sauce only. Ask for the green sauce, it's the best. Tuesdays are good for the fish taco special (ask for "everything" on it). The drinks include a good lemonade, a mild horchata, and some sort of fruit tea mixture. Jarritos are available from the cooler. Smiley-face cookies for dessert--never had em, but hey, they might be good. The downside to this place is that there's like three televisions so it's hard to find a not annoying place to sit.

I've spent time looking at some of the morons who have ranked this place poorly. One dummy complained his burrito fell apart because it was TOO full, the chicken and some other veggies were too moist and caused it to fall apart, it was too salty, (FYI that's Mexican food dude), and the salsas weren't any good. I'm calling you out because you're complaining on too big of portion sizes and moist meat? Moes gives like a half spoonful of meat on a home wrecker and fills it with lettuce and cheap stuff to make it look full but there's no protein in their burritos. I don't like dry chicken or veggies so your preferences are way out of wack, because I would bet most people would like more quality for their paper and less fillers. Salsas a preference too so that's on you, they have like 6 to choose one so if you don't like any of them then you are S.O.L. bud. To the BURRITO SNOB. Your complaining about the salsa, but complimented the burrito. Not much of a burrito critique. Anyways a couple other people complained but I understand because they had bad experiences as a whole, and a legitimate reason to deter you from returning, I worked six years at a very high end restaurant and its not possible for every aspect of a restaurant to be perfect 100% of the time, but that's what people strive towards. Sorry for the long read but this isn't a five star restaurant it's a burrito joint and a damn good one, and to get bashed and compared to moes or west coast burritos is silly.

I like to come here Sunday's for lunch, when Oscar's is closed. Good location. Decent burrito's, I prefer Chipotle or Blue Coast, And best Horchata at Chile burrito. Location, location location. Not too busy usually, good portions.

This is one of our favorite Mexican spots in town. The food is consistantly good, quick, and the grilled fish tacos are better than a lot of the other places we've seen. Love that they double up the corn tortillas with cheese in between to avoid having them fall apart. Fruit tea is yummy and their house salsas are great, not too runny with as much kick as you'd like, especially the tomatillo. A really good place to go with young kids.

Burrito snob here. In my burrito hierarchy, Chile Burrito ranks somewhere above average but not at the top. I like the burritos here. As much as I love tortillas, lately I have taken to cutting them out and opting for burrito bowls to save a few calories. While some places fall short in their burrito bowl offerings, Chile burrito still manages to put together quite a nice meal sans tortillas. Having said that, I've had several of the burritos longside tortillas and these were good. What I really like about Chile Burrito is that after you have constructed your hodgepodge of ingredients, they put the burrito on the grill for a final warm up before serving. I've yet to experience this anywhere else and it makes for a nice touch. Something to note, the salsa here is pure fail. While they do have a pineapple salsa like baja burrito, it is a piss poor imitation. As for the other salsas, in general, they pale in comparison to other salsa's I have experienced. All in all, you don't really come her for the chips and salsa, you come for a cheap tex mex burrito which is slightly better than average.

I have to write an update after my last experience at the Chile Burrito. I stopped in to get my wife and I a couple of burritos at the end of the day. There was no one else in the restaurant. The guy that prepared my food showed about as much interest in preparing my food as watching dirt grow. I figured he was tired/whatever so just ignored it. As he started prepping the burritos he threw half a slice of cheese on one half of the burrito. I asked him what about the other half of the burrito, it could use some cheese as well. He basically just looked at me like I was crazy, shook his head and actually laughed and ignored my question. The next thing he did was put the burritos on the grill for about 1 second which kind of defeats the purpose of adding a little crust on the tortilla from grilling (one of the main things I like about this place). Luckily the guy working the register stepped in and took care of the situation and made sure my burritos were made to order as is typical of this place. I had to really bite my tongue. I can understand if you've had a bad day, but you're in the service industry, suck it up and do your job. I love the place for the food and can most of the time overlook service issues, but this one really pissed me off and has me second guessing my future patronage.

Love this place! Never been before and bought a Sharing Spree. It's different than Moes, Qudoba as they grill everything in front of you! Yummmm!

I freakin' love this place. The downtown location was a favorite of mine when I worked in that area, but now they have opened one in Brentwood, near the Chick-Fil-A. So, when I'm out there, I have more than one choice of places to eat! Actually, they have had a Chile Burrito restaurant out there for probably over a year now, but they have just redone the entire strip mall (yes it's the 'burbs, of course it's in a strip mall!) so they have a nice shiny new place. These are burritos to order--just like in the other location--so you pick the kind of tortilla, then choose what you want in it. Fresh ingredients, and lots of them! They also have salads if you don't want to go the burrito route. And cheese dip! And spicy, fresh salsas! Thank you, Chile Burrito, for bringing fresh food in a non-chainy atmosphere to Brentwood!

Let me preface this review with I LOVE Mexican food. We just moved to the area and I'm trying a bunch of places around town. This place is not good at all. I almost walked out right when I walked in. There is no atmosphere to speak of - it's just dark and feels dirty. I decided to get a burrito bowl with chicken, rice, beans, lettuce, pico de gallo, and guacamole. The guacamole was made prior to it's arrival at the restaurant; not fresh at all. I was disappointed in the overall lack of flavor in the entire dish. The customer service, or lack thereof, didn't help matters. Poor atmosphere, poor food, and poor customer service. Three strikes and this place is out.

I really wasn't all that impressed. I read reviews and was excited because "is is better than chipotle." It is not. I did like that they offered tortas. I got a torta with brisket, lettuce, guacamole, refried beans, shredded cheese, and chipotle bbq. I was skeptical about the beans because I don't like refried beans anyways but they assured me that it was good on the torta. Wrong. I understand small restaurants have to turn a profit but anything extra is .90 cent. If you're like me you like all the extras but I'm not paying almost $4 for four extra (queso, guacamole, peppers and onions, mushrooms) toppings. Most likely I would not come back here. It might be the right restaurant for some people though.

Great place I take my crew from CS Auto at least twice a month. Nice selection of meats for custom built burritos or tacos. Tortilla Soup is good as well as the nachos. They also have good selection of Mexican drinks. Fast friendly service. Self service salsa bar is awsome.

One of my favorite places to eat in Brentwood. I always get the small burrito. The fruit tea is really good.

Don't waste your time going to Chipotle when you can go here instead. Very similar but the quality of food is much better here! I'm from Illinois and I probably had the burrito bowl at Chipotle once a week. When I went to Chili Burrito in Brentwood tonight, I had their burrito bowl and it was so much better!!! Highly recommend!!

  • Robert U.

Excellent. I love their burritos. Compared to Moe's and Chipotle, Chili Burrito just somehow has a bit more flavor. I think it's the way they do their meats. The spices. I also appreciate they way they do their pricing. Instead of nickle and diming me for stuff like guacamole and sour cream, Chili Burrito just prices burritos by the size - small, medium, and large. Then I can pick any meat, any fillings, any sauces, any add-ons i want. They have a large salsa bar that I really like as well - much larger than what Moe's has, for example. It does fill up quickly for lunch on week-days, but they seat a lot of people, so go for it.

  • Bret D.

I'll start with the positives here. - Flavor of the adobo chicken was very good - Portion size of the regular burrito with chips and drink was outrageous - I tried to eat it all and that was a mistake - I think I might get sick! Now the negatives - Too much salt - Salsas are mediocre - Burrito fell apart; because they overstuffed it and did not drain the liquid from the chicken and beans, the tortilla got wet and just fell apart I would rate West Coast Burrito, Moe's, and Blue Coast all higher than this place. If you do go, I would share a regular or order the small burrito and bring some salsa from someplace else.

What Chile Burrito lacks in sophistication, placement, and style it makes up for in comatosing its intended victims. This is not my favorite burrito joint by far, but it is a decent contender. The atmosphere is kind of depressing, but the food is decent, plentiful, and will knock you out and steal your socks if it doesn't particularly succeed in knocking your socks off. It's not a place I would go out of my way to visit, unlike Blue Coast or Baja, but it is a decent Brentwood representation of the burrito joint in a strip mall. It's also one of the few places where ordering the largest burrito there means I am probably going to fail at the clean plate club. Their chips and salsa - eh, they've been anywhere from MMM to Meh... averaging on ok... The place itself was clean the first two times I went there and a mess another couple of times. So seems to be a crapshoot. So, variable experience, I would not have gone back if the first two times had been like the last two, but nothing so far has been downright bad, just kind of rinky dinky. I will say, however, with how much I say this is not a bad place I cannot imagine it being people's favorite (couple of other reviews) with the options that are out there. Sort of like saying Costco has the best pizza in the world... well, yeah, it's good but that's sort of like you just gave up trying and settled for what was there.

Compared to the West Coast Burrito in Franklin, it's much better. I'm only making that comparison because I was just recently there. Chile Burrito is not nearly as garish, stupid, or incompetent as West Coast is. That being said, this isn't nearly as good as a Chipotle is. The food is fresh, which is nice, but not very flavorful. It was a tad cheaper, since I got a smaller burrito, but it wasn't as satisfying. It's something like Baja Burrito, though not as bland. I just wasn't thrilled by it, but not disappointed, either.

  • David P.

The way I rate places like this is a little different. If you don't have a waiter...it's really about the food more so than the service. Everything I've had here has been really good. I'd say I prefer this place slightly over Baja Burrito. The chicken has great flavor and the fruit tea is awesome. The attitude of the guys making the burrito is usually a little sour...but I'm not here to chum it up with the burrito makers...I just want fresh, quality food that cost less than $10. Done. I'll be back soon.

I absolutely love this place and think is easily the best burrito shop in town. Great salsas, relaxed atmosphere, excellent service and price, Most importantly the burritos are delicious. The chicken and chorizo combo is my personal favorite but the smoked brisket is great as well. The medium burrito is plenty unless you are training for an eating event. Family owned, not a chain and it shows in the attention to flavor. Highest recommendation if you are interested in good, healthy food (unless you eat yourself into oblivion) at a reasonable price.

Awesome place to get some SERIOUS burritos. The smoked pork burrito is my favorite so far. There are plenty of options for meats and other fillings. The salsa bar is a nice addition. I will be returning often!

I've review other taco places in town so you know I'm a fanatic. I lived in Southern California for a while and my search for a half way decent fish taco ended here. Yes, the fish taco whether fried or grilled is good. What made it good for me it that I got to pick the toppings which are fresh. I suggest you try the chipotle bbq sauce on your tacos or burrito. It's delish. If you go on Tuesday be prepared to wait. It's Taco Tuesday and the line can be out the door sometimes. Good news is that they move fast.

I know It looks like I'm giving out 5 stars like cups of water, but I've just been to some really great places lately. Chile Burrito looks so unassuming nestled into a Brentwood shopping center, but let me tell you, it's so good. I was out to lunch with myself (which is really exciting when you have kids) and ordered both a fried and grilled fish taco (both so so good). I purchased an order of chips and salsa as well, and loved that i had so many salsa options to choose from on their salsa bar. They also have a great selection of beers, including my favorite Mexico Import, Pacifico. Really clean, spacious restaurant with lots of seating and a very friendly staff. I can't wait to be back over there so I can have their fish tacos again!

Where is Management!! Went for lunch for the first time. So I was unadventurous and only ordered a Quesadilla. Who can screw up a Quesadilla!!! Right So I thought I would splurge and go for the 12 inch. I thought i add little grilled onion and pepers too. With some Carne Asada. I got to the cashier after seeing the person warm up a tortilla and warm it up. So I was like is there any cheese on this!! So I open it up in front of the Cashier and showed him that the first 3 inches of the half of the 12 inches had no cheese. So if my math is correct, a 12 inch tortilla has a radius of 6 inches, so the area is approximately 108. Well they put filling in about a 3 inch radius, or 27. So they covered just slightly over 1/4 of the area of the tortilla. So, to me a quesadilla is cooked until you get a nice golden brown and a nice crunchiness to the totrtilla. NOT!! So the Cashier said Sorry that the way we make them. Did he get a manager to come to me and explain!!! NOPE!!! Hmmmmmm Well this is simple guys, it a shame when I had a better Quesadilla at Taco Bell down the street that had more cheese inside. Wait am I not supposed to get better food at a place like this. Really you can not put enough cheese to fill a half a Tortilla and grill it properly!!! Yes Taco Bell grills there better too!!! Yikes!!! Sorry, I will not be back!! The survey question below ask, Good for Breakfast, brunch, lunch, dinner, late night, desert!! Why doesn't yelp have a not sure on that question!!!

I love the grilled burittos, and the nachos. I am not one to eat fish, but my friends really like the fish tacos here. Don't miss out on the fruit tea. It is some of the best around. They also have a salsa bar with several different types of salsa. The cheese dip is my favorite in town.

Great Mexican food. BEST queso. Clean environment, fast good service. My favorite thing is the nachos, with rice on them. Chicken is really well cooked and seasoned. Usually always fresh food anytime of day.

Over the last year I've tried many, many, many things on the menu. My rating has not changed. First, parking can be a bear. Despite the numerous parking spaces, it's still gonna be tough getting in and out, and a spot, but trust me, you'll be fine with a little walk to the door. Get there a little early from the lunch hour or you'll be waiting in line and you'll be looking for a spot to park your butt. Now that you're inside, check out the menu board. There's nothing I've tried that isn't good, and most things are great. Fish Taco Tuesday...it should be added to the Outlook calendar as a standard reminder. Brisket tacos, with BBQ sauce (I add the white sauce too), are splendid. Tortas, burritos, whatever you pick, you're probably gonna be under $10 with a drink and chips, so splurge for the white, creamy goodness called queso. Once you've paid, go to the drinks and pick "Baja Fruit Tea" as your drink. You're welcome.

First time and last time. The person who prepared our food (and appeared to end up being the manager) was completely unprofessional, laughing at my sister and I from the second we started ordering and kept asking us if we wanted more food like we were eating too much? He was very odd and rude the whole time. The cashier was very nice, but the food was not good Mexican food at all. I know good west coast Mexican and this place is for the dogs. Is eat Taco Bell before this. Not impressed.

I came here from out of town looking for lunch. The restaurant is a bit back in a typical suburban shopping center. My advice, skip Chipotle near the road and come back a bit further to this place. My burrito was fresh and hot. More importantly there is a bigger selection of meats and everything was way less salty than you'll find at Chipotle. The salsa bar is a nice touch and let me sample a variety of salsas for my chips.

    (5)
  • Sam H.

Lots of variety for this burrito place. Chipotle was nearby but we wanted something local and not a chain. Fish, smoked pork, chicken, briskett, chorizo, and steak were the meat options. Vegitarian choices were also available. Good flavor. (I had the briskett.) Also have a salsa bar.

  • Lisa S.

My friends love the horchata here, and I can see why. It's sweet and refreshing. I ordered a carne asada taco and a fish taco combo. It was very delicious. The service was great too. They messed up one of my tacos and I was completely okay with it, but they insisted on giving me a new one on the house.

  • D B.

For $9 you can get a dinky little burrito with no flavor and some green ooze they claim to be guacamole. I ordered the medium size burrito and seriously it was 50% tortilla and just tiny. There's a Chipotle across the street. Just go there.

Best taco place in Brentwood period, if not all of Nashville! This instantly became one of my favorite places the very first time I stopped by. The owner is there almost daily working behind the counter and making sure everyone's experience is great. After you've had the burrito and everything like that, make sure to try the grilled fish tacos, but ski the fried fish as it looses all the flavor of the fish. The shredded chicken and chorizo sausage are also must adds to the burritos.

    (5)
  • David C.

This is our default comfort food/nobody wants to cook stopping place. We went the first time the week it opened up and probably take out 2-3 times a week. Everything is fresh and worth trying. Our favorites are fish tacos (fried tho grilled are good too), burritos with any meat but the shredded chicken and pork are our favorites. Their chipotle sour cream is a great addition to anything but the fish taco. Tip I learned from observing a co-worker who moved here from Mexico...squeeze lime juice on the chips and use their medium (red) salsa. Best flavor.

  • Paulius N.

Taco happiness Corn tortilla dilemma But the fillings rock Solid taco spot. You need to specifically ask for the corn tortilla, as their go-to is the gringo style wheat tortilla. No disappointment in the fillings though. All fresh and fine. Grilled fish was a delicious one, but the chorizo was really standout. The salsa bar was a nice touch, as was the liberal use of cilantro. Only one disappointment, and that would be a decidedly watery horchata. Carry on.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
