They have the best drink specials. The signature margarita on the rocks is my favorite. I also love the shrimp and vegetable empanadas.

We just moved to South Carolina from Arizona and this place made us feel right at home! The food was delicious and the service was amazing! Definitely try the homemade margaritas- the homemade sour mix is on point! We loved the burritos. Thank you so much Tequilana- we will be coming back!!

By far, the best Mexican food I've had since moving to SC. I had the tamales and they were awesome. The kids' quesadilla was bigger and better than most adult entrees at other restaurants. My husband ate every bite of his brisket taquitos. Our service was great, too. The chips stayed full, while we munched on chori-queso dip. We'll be going back... again and again.

Stop what you are doin' and head for Tequilana... walk in the door and say, "Tequilana Margarita please'" Oh yeah, the food is excellent. I suggest the Brisket Enchiladas. Roasted and smoked tender beef brisket in two rolled corn torillas, in a light creamy chipotle pepper sauce, topped with melted cheese and grilled onions servied with refried black beans and rice. Excellent, no hype! Save room for dessert, cause it's really special! Tres Leche Cake: A delicious three-milk sponge cake iced with whipped cream and topped with fresh seasonal fruit. Usually the service is great, sometimes they get busy.

Let me start by saying that I live within walking distance of this place, which comes in very handy if you are trying their world famous Tequilana Margarita. Let's start with the ambiance and atmosphere, wonderful. Very warm and inviting and everyone that works there is super friendly and helpful. Next come the drinks, oh man. You have an assortment of options to choose from and they are all tasty and delicious. You can't go wrong with their in house Tequilana Margarita. It has many different kinds of delicious alcomobooze which all react together to create a concoction of awesome. They have normal margaritas too for the feint of heart, but do yourself a favor and try this at least once to never go back. Plenty of draught beer options as well as fruity drinks also await you. How about food options? Here is where Tequilana shines, which might be hard to believe with the beverages and atmosphere this place has already thrown at you. Appetizers? Got it. Chips and salsa as you walk in? Delectable Plenty of authentic and yummy mexican cuisine options? Out. Of. This. World. Their Chili Rellenos, which are the benchmark for any good mexican place, are really good. My personal favorite is their Chorizo tacos. Oh dear, they are good. Just spicy enough to kick the flavor up, but not too spicy that you want to down that margarita to quench the fire. Really good food, you can't go wrong with Tequilana!

Came here on the recommendation of a local customer. He said this is one of the best Mexican restaurants in Greenville. He was spot on! The service started slow, with no one showing up for drink orders after we were seated. The food made up for the service. I had the Tacos Carnitas. I couldn't eat fast enough! The meat was succulent and seasoned to perfection. The taco shells were crispy and greasy enough. The rice was just as tasty. Well balanced dish. I will definetly come back the next time I'm in town.

I've driven past this restaurant every day since it opened nearly 3 years ago and never tried it until today. My mistake. The food and the service were incredible. Fabulous salsa & margaritas! Easily the best Mexican food in the upstate. Try the Burrito Acapulco. It's a nice sized burrito stuffed with a variety of seafood and topped with a delicious creamy chipotle sauce and served with rice and grilled asparagus.

If you have been searching for a Mexican restaurant that serves healthy but tasty dishes at a budget price in Greenville, SC, this is the place to check out. Four of us were there yesterday night. Ambience, food, service, price, all was great!

I'm not a big fan of Mexican food but will occasionally indulge my daughter and boyfriend. On a recent trip to Mauldin, we decided to try Tequilana after reading the great reviews. I had tacos to play it safe. I've never had a shrimp taco or a chicken taco that was as delicious as they made these. This is one Mexican restaurant that I actually look forward to visiting again.

Best salsa I've ever had! I'm not normally a salsa fan, but this salsa was perfect. Just the right ratio of citrus to spice. More importantly, you could actually taste the lime in the mixture. Actually, all of the food was perfect. I had the taco salad, my husband had the steak nachos, and we split a philly taco. The taco salad was the right proportions of lettuce other toppings. The meat was seasoned just right. The philly taco was out of this world! The marinade was spectacular and the steak was amazingly tender. The staff was super friendly and the drinks were spot on. Definitely my favorite Mexican restaurant I've ever been to. Not only will I be back, I will be bringing my friends.

I don't know how authentic Tequilana is, but I do think this place is authentically delicious. I have eaten here a few times and have not yet had something I don't like. To start with, their salsa is very tasty. It is not a chunky salsa, but it IS full of flavor and not overly hot. It goes great with their chips. They also have delicious guacamole as well, which our waitress tells us is made fresh with each order. Personally, I love that they have dishes made with brisket. I have tried their brisket enchiladas and their brisket tamales. Both were awesomesauce! The brisket is tender and flavorful. I will say the brisket tamales are definitely unique, and the tamale part was one of the best I've ever had. It came with a side of the charro bean soup (seriously, this is AMAZING!!!) and their fabulous rice. YUM! We also love their carnitas, which have a great flavor and just fall apart in your mouth, and the carne enchilada - just fabulous too! As for their margaritas, they make their own mix in-house. I can get their margaritas with Cazadores, one of my favorite tequilas. They also make natural margaritas (lime juice and agave netctar), which are just amazing. They tend to be pretty busy on the weekend, but the service has been great each time we've come. I think their prices are pretty reasonable for the quality, with most of their dishes around $10-13. Portions are generous as well. I am so glad Tequilana is so close to home!

The Chicken Tortilla Soup , paired with one of the tacos, makes a perfect light meal for under $10. The tacos are a generous side for $2.95 each (for most). But no matter what I order when I visit, I'll always get the soup to start off the meal. Love the avocado and lime, chunks of chicken and cilantro in the hot flavorful broth. Nice service and a good value.

Went for dinner early on a Saturday night. Seemed to get a little ignored by the server. I will say they were busy, but we only got checked on once during the entire meal even though the server was nice. The queso tasted like maple syrup?? We had five at the table and everyone agreed. Two people got fajitas and their food was cold. Most places send that out sizzling on the plate. Also everything seemed under seasoned. The best part was the salsa. Overall no bueno.

Fajitas Trios was amazing!! It has chicken shrimp and steak. Served with black beans and Mexican rice. It also has the necessary toppings I plan to make this my place of choice for Mexican cuisine. The staff was pleasant and my food was ready when they told me it would be.

Wow, I can't believe the other reviews I am reading. Those people ether work for the restaurant or they are completely delusional. This is by far the worst Mexican restaurant in the Greenville area. When I went there the chips were at least a day old. I kindly asked for some new chips and the server stated "I just watched the cook make them", and then blew me off. I asked another server and she gave me new chips. However, they were still so not fresh. I was warned by the customers sitting next to me that the service was bad and the bartender didn't know how to make drinks. They weren't sure if it was a language problem or not, but the girl was also not nice. I ordered the shredded steak burrito (not sure how you shred a steak), philly tacos, and the crispy steak and chicken taco to go. When I opened everything up, they had actually given me steak and chicken fajitas with soft shells. My wife and I choked down a few bites which tasted more like an Italian sauce instead of Mexican. It's one thing that the order was wrong, but the flavor was just gross. Best Mexican restaurant in Greenville? Not bloody likely! Needless to say, my wife and I agreed that we never need to eat there again.

Another really good restaurant within walking distance of my place. The first time I went here, I ordered a margarita and it was basically a glass of tequila. Seriously bad. I haven't ordered another margarita since. The last time I went here, I ordered tacos, and they were basically greasy undrained meat on a plain flour tortilla. YUCK. I got the chorizo taco and the, I think, pastor taco, and they were both greasy and undrained of fat. :( So that's why the three-star review. I've been here four times, though, and other than the icky tacos on my last visit, the food has been consistently good. Definitely higher than average Mexican food. I've had the flautas and the fajitas and both were absolutely delicious. I also like that they serve refried black beans instead of refried pintos. I MAY one day get brave enough to try another margarita, but I'm not sure I'll ever order the tacos again. This place is hit-or-miss, another reason for just a three-star review. When it's good, it's VERY good, but when it's bad, it's VERY bad.

*WARNING* Owner does NOT HONOR $5 off on $25 Coupon Clipper coupons. Despite NO EXCLUSIONS PRINTED on coupon, if $25 total includes drinks, owner DECLINES the coupon, saying "it is his choice". Since finding Tequilana a couple of years ago, I have raved about it. I have recommended it frequently, like this on Foursquare: foursquare.com/jeffreypj… Tonite, the food was again excellent, as it always is. But, our bill included two Happy Hour Margaritas ($1 off a non-existent pour BTW), putting the total without drinks under $25. So, in a town with so many choices, the choice to decline a $5 coupon to lose all future $34 tabs is- an interesting one.

Was craving Mexican Food and my wife started looking at reviews and came across this one. Fairly close to our house we decided to give it a shot. We have tried numerous Mexican restaurants in Greenville and some are good and some are okay, but once you go here, they are all ruined because this place is that good. Fresh food, great selection and wonderful prices. Ever wanted to try multiple tacos or enchiladas? No problem because they are a la carte. Prices were inexpensive from the appetizers to the entrees. We started with Chorizo dip and Guacamole dip. Both were only $4 and both were to die for. Some of the best we have ever had. Moved onto the burrito under their specialties which is shrimp and crawfish with a chipotle cheese sauce. Simply put, one of the best meals I have had since coming to South Carolina. The service was attentive, offered recommendations and everything else you would want from a restaurant. Good selection Great food Good service Great prices You cannot ask for much more than that. Definitely try this place out for the best Mexican food in Greenville.

I ordered one of the monster margaritas and it was perfect. I didn't really know what to get so I asked the waitress for a recommendation and she said the seafood soup was a good pick. It was delicious perfectly cooked shrimp and fish were tender not hard or rubbery. Everyone else enjoyed their meals too. Less Americanized than most Mexican restuarants that I have eaten at.

I absolutely love this place. I went in with my husband & sat outside since the weather was beautiful. I have to say there Guacamole Dip is so good & fresh! I order the Special Flounder entree along with my 32oz Natural Lime Margarita which was amazingly delicious & refreshing. I'm looking forward to coming back. The atmosphere is great, the waitresses are very friendly & give great service & the food is mind blowing! The chief had made the most amazing Italian pasta with seafood which I was surprised since it is a Mexican restaurant but with a great talented chief. People of Greenville go here you won't regret it!'

Super nice almost authentic Mexican place. I say almost as some dishes where great, like the taco al pastor but missing the pineapple as described on the menu. Tamales where good but not on mark for really Mexican style tamales. Cheap drinks.

Dear Mauldin and Greenville residents, check out Tequilana. It's located 2 minutes from the highway. They recently opened a couple months ago. During my recent visit, my brother kept mentioning this Mexican restaurant with good food and cheap prices. Finally, we visit my last day here. We ordered takeout for 3, eating 2 southern tacos, a fried chicken taco, brisket taco, ground beef taco salad, and a side of guac. They also gave us a large container of salsa and a bag of chips. Just under $25, it was a filling meal for 3. They have fast service. They're willing to customize orders such as no dairy. The meat on the southern tacos is great. They feature Carolina flavors. I wish their jalapeno flavored ingredients were spicier. Tacos start at $3. Go here for an affordable and great tasting meal.

Love this place for Mexican food with a twist. On your first visit make sure to check out the tacos. They're all great and I love to mix and match what I'm in the mood for. Great stuff!

This place is about 2 miles from my house and has become my go to place for tacos. The tacos are about $3 each and my favorites include the fish (fried tilapia with jalapenos and a spicy sauce) and the beef brisket with cilantro. The southern taco is also very good and there are several other options in the taco section. The rest of their food looks amazing, but I've only tried the chicken flautas with a creamy avocado sauce. It was great. The service is quick and the place has a cozier atmosphere than your typical Mexican restaurant.

Really enjoy the carne asada, chorizo and salsa. A great value for lunch! Service is quick and friendly. Unlike most Mexican joints around here, they don'y have a Speedy but, you won't miss it! VERY good food and wonderful specials daily. Give this place a try, I know I'll be back!

I have to say that I was really-really surprised, in a great way! Food was impressively plated, taste was not like your normal chain-it was really different in a good way. Asked for hot salsa and much to my amazement they had a really good habanero based one, the mild was very good as well. Very Clean, very! Nice job. I'll be back for the friendly faces as well as all the other attributes!

The food was good. Got a carnitas taco and a steak brisket taco. Both tasted good and the portion size was big. Table salsa was good as well and the service was timely. Value wise - worth what we paid. However - Authentic Mexican is not the best descriptor. There was little here that was authentic... Tacos have flour tortillas only and that's the antithesis of authentic Mexican. Still recommended, but don't show up thinking you're going to eat Mexican, it's best described as Mexican fusion?

Great ,authentic, fresh Mexican food! My husband and I love Mexican food and we have tried several places throughout Greenville and this place is hands down the best! Like many others have said, this is not your chain type restaurant, you can tell that each meal is made fresh and with quality ingredients. I am kind of a salsa snob and I thought theirs was fantastic! We also got a sample of their homemade Tres Leches cake and we cleaned the plate. Next time we will be sure to save room for dessert, it's worth it. We will definitely be coming back.

Our new favorite Mexican restaurant. We've been three times now, and the food has been consistently outstanding. There are many items that are beyond the typical fare swimming in cheese. Try the Pollo Cuatro Estaciones or any of the fish dishes. Don't miss the Tequilana margarita; it's the best I've had.

Service was slow, food was ok, quite overpriced for the poor quality. This is NOT authentic Mexican food. I got mole poblano enchiladas, the sauce had a funky taste a bit bitter as if it had spoiled. The chicken was chewy and got nothing but chunks of fat. My husband requested corn tortillas they brought the wrong thing. My son asked for 3 tacos they brought him 4 (which are also overpriced btw). We waited a good 20+ mins. to get our check as the lady was struggling trying to add it all up by hand. Definitely nothing to brag about and not planning on going back. Yelp reviews failed me on this one.

I came here because of the high yelp review but leave very disappointed. The service was poor even if the food was not bad. It didn't feel like authentic mexican like i hoped. They first seated us across from the only other people in the restaurant and we had to listen to their conversation the whole time. They didn't give us napkins or silverware without us asking and my order came out wrong. Service was very slow and the check took forever to come out. We watched the hostess very slowly write and calculate everything by hand.

OMG!!!! If the brisket fajitas are on the menu....order them!!!! The sauce that is served with the brisket is amazing and compliments the beef flavor. Their salsa is delicious....thick and tasty. Even the chicken tenders on the kid's menu are good!

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
