Excellent lunch. The shrimp and grits was great and the setting was beautiful. Great looking wine room and bar.

This is a pleasant restaurant overlooking the water. We had a little wait before our group was seated, so we visited the side room bar, where the barkeep was very professional and made a good gin and tonic. They have a good selection of daily special fish, prepared a couple different ways each. The portions are pretty large as well. Definitely the grits are great...I am not a big fan, but I scarfed these up. I also shared a couple bites of my aunt and uncles seared tuna...delicious!! Finish your meal with Key Lime Pie or the great bread pudding.

We have been going to this restaurant for about 30 years, but have moved away for many years. Our dinner was mediocre: crab cakes were shredded crab, not lump, and the blue cheese slaw was inedible. My wife's grouper was very good. The service was HORRIBLE, particularly frustrating since the restaurant was almost empty. Our server apparently spent her time in the kitchen socializing. Further, when we approached the front desk asking for the bill, neither the manager nor the server bothered to apologize. I'll not go back. There are too many other good choices in Georgetown and nearby Pawleys Island.

The River Room is a great venue for a good low country cuisine, its nautical atmosphere is very warming. Right off Front Street, the River Room has a lovely view of Georgetown harbor. The River Room's Shrimp and Grits dish is one of the best in the Low Country. We love the desserts as well. The New Orleans Bourbon Bread Putting is outstanding. We had a large group at a nearby restaurant for a pre- Christmas celebration, when the waitress announced the limited dessert menu, we headed across the street to the River Room: New Orleans Bread Pudding, Key Lime Pie, MudPie, and Peanut Butter Pie were the dessert dejour. mmmm good, the River Room does it right. We have this restaurant on our list of favorites. I have eaten there many times and never had a bad experience.

We were very pleased with the dinners we had. The shrimp and grits were perfect. The staff was friendly, knowledgable about the dishes, and knew how to serve . The place was clean, nautical themed decorated, which was fun and fun to see the river at night. Our party was pleased with everything. Parking was no problem.

Dinner is a bit pricey so I got the shrimp and grits appetizer, which was just enough because I wasn't super-hungry. The grits were absolutely perfect like my mom makes, which is difficult to find (it's very rare to eat at a place that understands how to prepare grits correctly). Shrimp needed a little more salt and seasoning. Sausage was good. I believe I will be coming back for more. One in our party ate the apple-Gorgonzola salad and said it was delicious and the dressing was superb. Kids had shrimp and the shrimp was perfectly seasoned and breaded. Service was friendly and prompt. We were worried the water might have a sulfur taste, but it was fine. They are open late at night for casual vacationers.

A casual place by the river. Based on the reviews and the waitress 's recommendation, I got the shrimp and grits. Really good flavor. The pork sauce was very good and the biscuit was buttery. Good size potion even though it was on the lunch menu. He local brew, Westbrook One Claw pale ale- refreshing.

Menu had some nice selections; however, the food wasn't quite as nice as the decor. Nice view of the water. The clam chowder and salmon were good. The oyster sandwich was also tasry. Its nice to find chicken salad on the menu but there was too much bread and the chips are nothing special. The prices were reasonable. The servers were understaffed, but polite. A decent place in a neat town.

Enjoyed lunch of shrimp n grits and my wife had a chicken pecan salad. The shrimp n grits was simple and divine! Classic corn grits prepared creamily to perfection with a plain brown gravy w chives, andouille sausage and shrimp served w a flaky n buttery biscuit.

Stopped for an impromptu lunch en route to Charleston. Great atmosphere and very good food The River Room we are told is known for their shrimp and grits. That seemed a bit heavy for lunch on a sweltering summer day. I opted for our servers second suggestion the pecan chicken salad. It was served on a bed of romaine with apple slices and grapes. It was quite good. My husband ordered a burger and said it was very good also. We would definitely return if in the area. Highly recommend

Went for lunch, worth the drive from Murrells Inlet; wonderful atmosphere, nice view, expeditious service, great food at a right on price . . . salmon for my Mrs. and I opted for the shrimp and grits along with an Angus Burger on whole wheat bread; a delicious luncheon . . . the Front Street shops and the Harbor Walk - a fun treat!

Ate the seafood platter and it was really really good. I come here for the shrimp and grits because living in Hawaii . There's not a single restaurant you can order such a thing. It's always a pleasure when visiting home to dine here

Crab balls appetizer was very good, but food went downhill from there. Blue cheese dressing was watery on the salad, & my shrimp & grits were bland with more sausage than shrimp. The few shrimp that were present were quite small. Service was adequate, but I probably would not dine here again.

Great lunch with friends. Shrimp and grits, shrimp Creole, fried shrimp hoagie, with the greatest onion rings I've ever had, andchicken and sausage gumbo. All good food. And desert was the best chocolate mousse presentation.

What an amazing meal we just had! The blackened yellow fin tuna was superb! The fried calamari was tender and delicious. My husband had the filet and it was the best steak he has had in along time. Way better meal than anything we have had in SC so far! I just wish it was closer to home!

Great local seafood restaurant. Big place, might be 40 or more four tops, very popular, there was a waiting list for a table - maybe 15 minutes. Decor is normal nautical for a seafood place. Hostess was OK, our server was nice enough, friendly, well-organized Food came out fast considering the crowd. My wife had the grilled salmon which was very good. I had a seafood combo - shrimp and flounder - which was also very good. Good choice if you are in the area.

Hands Down the best restaurant in Georgetown. Always the best and freshest salads, steaks and seafood. Deserts to die for. On the river, the interior is warm and inviting, beautiful salt water aquariums, and the most professional staff in the city.

Had lunch there today. Service was VERY VERY slow at best. The Asian inspired Salmon and Vegetables was good. Not great but good. My Husband had the Angus Burger. It was overcooked and roll tasted stale. He could not eat the fries. I didn't try them but my guess is oil could be old. Just said they were inedible. We were there for an hour and a half. Got our own refills of water. Waitress was nice but they seemed to be very understaffed. Next time I will try another restaurant in Georgetown.

After my wife made a "Minor complaint" to the manager about the desert, the manager decided she would have the last laugh by slipping in a piece of "Scrap Food" into our take-out desert. We will never eat there again & tell everybody we see!! Shame on you as a human being!!

Enjoyed lunch today quite a crowd today but only waited ten min. or so not bad at all. Our meals were good, hot as you would expect them to be. I think there may have been a shortage on help , service was a little slow but not bad enough to get upset about, anyway had a little more time to enjoy the waterfront setting.

We have been eating at the River Room on vacation for many years. Everything is excellent, including the bread. My family loved their seafood. I got a vegetable plate. The grits and sautéed vegetables were so good.

Neat vintage seafood restaurant. Great seafood platter and shrimp and scallop pasta, plus yummy bread basket and good drink list. Good service, too. Felt like a 70s throwback, but in a good way.

My husband and I had dinner here while visiting the town on a get away weekend . I had the Grilled Salmon, collards and new potatoes. The collards could stand on their own as awesome, but added with the salmon with hollandaise sauce and Wow! The portion size was large for me as a small eater, but would do well for a hungry appetite as well! My husband had the shrimp and grits and said they were very yummy. The service was pleasant as well as the staff.

We like this charming place. They were friendly, nice view, service and food was good. The chicken salad was very fresh and nicely plated. The Cajun Chicken-Sausage Gumbo was hearty and biscuit moist. The Peanut Butter Pie was the best!

Service was excellent. Had the shrimp and grits app, very tasty. Also had the Grouper that was herb crusted with citrus mojo. Good but slightly overcooked. Collards were slightly salty too, but yummy. Did I mention the great service.? Our server was very knowledgeable and laid on the southern charm. Great place that I will come back to again.

Always love my experience at the River Room. Dining room is beautiful, staff is attentive and food is excellent. I haven't had anything I didn't like yet. Great shrimp n grits! However, if you're not in to seafood you may be in trouble, especially at dinner. If you request they may make you a burger at dinner!

We had lunch here and are very pleased with the choice. I had the shrimp gumbo which had a nice flavor with not too much spice. Also had the shrimp and grits which were good but average. We also had sandwiches that use wheat berry bread. The bread had a great flavor and i recommend it. Good service nice setting on the river.

Quick service! Attentive. Handled a large demanding group with aplomb. Food was good, though nothing mind blowing.

There was a 10 minute wait for a table at 1:30 for lunch on a Monday and it was not even high tourist season. This place has fantastic food, great prices and of course a river view. Absolutely loved the salmon salad at 10 bucks which was heaping with very nice green leaf lettuce. The burger was also very good. The service was good but a little slow. Would definitely eat here several times a week if I lived in the area.

We went yesterday to celebrate my mother's 80th birthday. The food was excellent. Make sure you ask for a table with a view...it gives you a wonderful view of the water and shrimp boats.

I have to say that I signed up for yelp just so that I could review this restaurant. My dad, brother, and I went here as a fluke during our bicycle trip down the nc/sc/ga coasts. First of all, all of the specials sounded fantastic so I just went with the first one, the Asian glazed salmon over spring veggies. the salmon was cooked perfectly and the glaze was delicious. The vegetables that were chosen (squash, zucchini, onion) really set off the dish and were properly seasoned in themselves. the service was quite good although a little slow, but the food made it all worth it!
