Yo Bo is a new taco place in the South Windermere area. There aren't really any taco shops nearby so it's a nice addition. Most of the food is pretty healthy so it fits in nicely with the yoga studios, barre fitness, Earth Fare, etc. We stopped in to try it today. My husband had a cheese quesadilla with added chicken and a side of guac, and a taco. I had two tacos, one had shrimp and the other had tofu. Yo Bo offers grilled tofu as a meat and also offers tons of other meats as well. If you're gluten free, they have corn tortillas. First, we started off with the chips and salsa. Chips and salsa aren't free here, but you do get your choice of 2 salsa and you get free refills. They'll also let you try the other salsas when you get refills. We had the mild salsa, the black bean and corn, and the Jesse James (medium salsa), which was by far our favorite. The chips and salsa were really good, just know it costs if you're used to Mexican places where it's free. We didn't mind paying because the salsa seemed to be more premium than other Mexican joints and there were so many options. Now... this is where the menu gets confusing. The price varies depending on what meat you select (btw, grilled veggies are also under the meats category at $2... most meats are $2 but shrimp and fish are like $3). So, the base price you look at for most menu items... except tacos... is not including the meat. This confused us because my husband wondered why they charged him $2 more to add chicken to a cheese quesadilla (but the "meat" is included in the taco price- you still get to pick your choice). The menu's diversity is good, just confusing- so make sure you know what you're ordering and how it affects your bill (promise they're not overcharging, that's just what the menu said). I wish it was just a set price rather than having the "fine print" at the bottom for meat prices. Shrimp in the shrimp taco were small and there weren't too many. I've had other shrimp tacos where the shrimp were falling out of the taco, big huge shrimp too! I wonder if they are locally caught, never did find out. I added salsa to the taco to bulk it up a little. Wasn't bad, just that I've had better. Only disappointment was the guac. No taste at all in the first guac we had, and it was brown. The waitress later brought us out fresh one they'd just made and it was much better. I guess as the kitchen staff learns their way around, hopefully the guac will be more consistent. We were a little full by the time we got our replacement guac, though. Definitely has a lot of potential and we'll be back. I think I'll go with the platos next time, you get a lot more food and can roll your own tacos with it.

Best tacos, salsa and margaritas ever! The staff is super friendly and the food is always delicious. I live pretty far away from here but i drive out of my way just to have one of their tacos and a double mason jar margarita!

While the food wasn't technically bad, and it is fresh as advertised, it was just a bit too mediocre. The best part of our experience was our server, who was very friendly and accommodating, even when he got slammed with customers and was the only server working. Unfortunately though I probably wouldn't go back. Just kind of blah.

Terrible experience from the second my wife and I walked in. It was not clear at all whether we should seat ourselves or wait to be seated. The server forgot to bring us the chips we ordered. She never wrote down our order so the rest of the food also came out wrong and she blamed the cooks. She's wasn't clear with the cook so they messed up our order a second time. The food was bland and not at all how it is described on the menu. We got the tortilla soup which is described as a home made vegetable broth with hearty vegetables. The broth tasted like water and the vegetables were sparse and the size of a grain of rice. We both had burritos. They weren't bad but nothing to rave about. The local Barberitos and Moe's has better burritos. This place had great reviews but it really didn't live up to those. Very disappointed with service and food and the experience as a whole. I definitely do not recommend this place to anyone.

Best nachos ever. Great local neighborhood cantina! Dos Equis Amber on tap and served cold, very cold. Very thankful I can walk, skate or somersault here.

Great atmosphere. Good service. This was their first day. I had the Platos, which consists of cheese, lettuce, tomatoes, sour cream, and 3 tortillas. I added $3 for the fish which is Swai which I never heard of. It was really good, with a hint of salmon flavor to it. I think that is because it was cooked like salmon with some sort of glaze. Really tasty and came with two sides. The corn on the cob was great. The other one was some sort of beans that was on the menu. They sounded great but I was a little underwhelmed by the beans. The staff was super friendly and helped us on our orders. I look forward to going for a happy hour some day. They turned the sandwich place that was there into quite a nice place. Very cool atmosphere. Will be back, and soon!

I really want to try this place. Vegetarian and Vegan options on West Ashley is a Good Thing. I stopped in, then menu looks great. I've known this space in South Windermere since the 70's and have seen it go through lots of businesses. (When I first went there it was the original Ye Ole Fashioned Ice Cream spot.) It looks better than it has in a while, comfortable and like it would be a nice place to have a meal. However, I'm allergic to latex/natural rubber, and though I'd discussed with the management not using latex gloves (using an alternative), they decided to go ahead and use them, thereby making it an unsafe place for anyone with an allergy to latex to eat, as the food is prepped with the gloves, and the person I talked to didn't think it possible/was unwilling to try to prepare something that hadn't been touched with the gloves. Apparently, it's been tossed back to management, and I await the results. Until then, I'm adding it to my "not safe for latex" list, and have to give a lower star rating than I think it may actually deserve for the food they serve. But if their food preparation practices could impair my health, I'm not willing to risk taking a bite to judge.

I stumbled upon this place and was pleasantly surprised. I ordered the Tortilla Chicken Soup and it was full of flavor and such a nice treat.

I was so happy to hear YoBo was coming to the Windermere Shopping Center--I have been a handful of times and had great experiences every time I have visited. Friendly & attentive staff, great happy hour specials and terrific food. I honestly cannot think of anything better than a $6 double marg, nachos and outside seating on a cool Charleston evening- thanks YoBo for providing us Windermere folk a nice place to relax and hang out.

Went on a Friday night and there were only 2 servers/bartenders working! The place was full so we had terrible service as you can imagine. The food was just ok- Taco Boy is much better. May give it one more chance for brunch and their huge mimosas.

We came by for lunch and it was great. Place had a good vibe and great service. I ordered the Mo bowl and it was awesome. It was like a Chipotle bowl only better. Would highly recommend it.

Great place! I love that the margaritas aren't stickily sweet! Always good service and I've never had anything bad here. The only negative comment I heard from the group I went with was that chips and salsa weren't included.

This place is the worst- think airport bar that serves food but I'm only assuming this place serves food, as staff never bothered to inconvenience themselves by swinging by to see if we wanted to order anything. I mean, they did devote 30 percent of their front window space to a kitchen, rather than logically put it in the back so it didn't make the whole place ridiculously hot, so you'd think they'd make some use of it. If you're thinking of going here, go just about ANYWHERE else and you'll be much better for it.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
