Doughnut muffins. Need I say more? Ok, coffee is wonderful (I had a soy cappuchino), the yogurt parfait is divine, and the bakery is stupid cute. We lucked upon this place and I will definitely be going back for more doughnut muffins.

Sunday was a beautiful day, so it made sense to get up at 7:30am to drive downtown for the infamous sticky bun Sunday. Not much to add to the many positive reviews here, but it was pretty good. I got there right after 8 and there was a line out the door about 4 or 5 deep. All of these buns are pretty much made to order. That coupled with most of the folks inside were ordering fairly large orders made the wait a little long. Ill say I was waiting at least 30 minutes before it was my turn to order. Very brief interaction with the staff, but they all seemed pleasant. The space is very small--shoulder to shoulder with roughly a dozen people inside, and there are only 2 tables inside, but there is patio outside with a few tables to enjoy your morning/midday dessert. Ordered the combo, with pecans, brwn sugar, cream cheese frosting, and all that jazz. She took it right out of the oven, fixed it up nice and pretty, and put it in a box with my name on it. Took about 10 minutes after ordering, but it was all good. In the meantime, I also ordered the $1 donut muffin as well, which I was not a fan of. Its covered in sugar, not dense like a muffin, and not pillowy like a donut. Its in an awkward crumbly middle child. The sticky bun is pretty large. Its buttery for real, and not too sweet. It is definitely a once in a while kinda treat. Glad I made the drive to try it out.

Eating my way through Charleston - Part 9 After Circa 1886 we went back to the beach for a late night stroll and soaked in a couple more minutes of ocean breeze before calling it a night. When we woke up we took our little man back out and hit the beach one more time before check-out. Then we made a B-Line straight WildFlour Pastry so we could get our hands on some of those world famous delicious Sticky Buns. When we got there we were told sticky buns were only made on Sundays (totally devastated) so we got a Raspberry and Nutella Scone, a Chocolate Ganache Brownie, and a Doughnut Muffin instead:) The brownie ended up being too chocolatey for my taste but the Nutella scone and the doughnut muffin washed down paired with some ice cold milk made for the perfect breakfast before heading back to Charlotte.

Our Sunday mornings are usually full, so anytime we can squeeze in a trip to Wild Flour for sticky bun Sunday, we jump at the chance. As always, today did not disappoint. We were not surprised to find the line to the door when we arrived to grab sticky buns to share on our way to meeting friends. A cup of tea for an almost cool morning and we were on our way, wishing only that we had time to linger and watch the staff turn out more treats and chat happily with all the customers coming in.

I visited Charleston a week ago and really enjoyed my breakfast from Wild Flour Bakery. Service was incredibly friendly and my mini quiche was delicious, fresh, and not overcooked. Simply well done.

We heard about this bakery from an Uber driver who highly recommended their sticky buns. We walked more than a mile in a heat wave to get there so our expectations were high, and they were met. Fortunately we missed the after church rush and were able to sit and enjoy a sticky bun and iced coffee. They hit the spot! I would have liked to try the cinnamon bun with cream cheese frosting, but that will have to wait for our next visit!

I was sad that they don't do sticky buns on weekdays, but the cinnamon swirl muffin that I had was a great second choice! They warmed it up for me and I scarfed it in 30 seconds flat. Yum.

Unbeknownst to them, wildflour did the cake for our elopement last weekend. We couldn't be happier with it, though I think we will be eating our way through it for weeks! As we were coming in from out of town, we ordered online, received prompt replies and the cake was beautiful when we picked it up. We ordered plain vanilla frosting and they even dressed it up with sparkly little touches on top. It looked beautiful at our picnic table dessert & champagne toast and we adorned it with my grandparents' wedding cake topper from the 1940s. The cake is still moist and delicious 3 days later. Thanks wildflour for helping make our day so special!

Came here this morning for a sweet treat and a mocha. The pastry I had was seriously out of this world good. I can't remember the exact contents of what was all in there. But it had lemon and maybe an apricot or something? I had them warm it up and it was so good. The mocha was also very good. Very rich and filling. I wish they still had sticky buns when we came in this morning but I guess that just means we will have to come back again! As a bonus, the staff was really friendly and made everything fairly quickly. Check this place out. I love my coffee chain places but sometimes it's just nice to have something different and this place really hit the spot.

Stopped by 2 weeks ago on a Sunday morning while on a foodie trip to Charleston. Cinnamon Roll = divine, not too sweet. Fig, Prosciutto, Goat Cheese Quiche = Delicious even hours later cold on a return flight home. Cute little courtyard seating if the weather is nice (it was). All their pastries are made in house. Well worth a spot in our itinerary of Charleston's finest. I would frequent a little too often if I lived local!

WildFlour was exactly what I needed last Saturday morning. I ordered a cinnamon bun, banana walnut bread, raspberry and nutella turnover and a pair of the doughnut muffins. Being in the store, there are tons of options, and all very reasonably priced. When we got home to feast on a sugary breakfast, we were pretty blown away with the food. I'm not one to crave sweets, but everything was amazing. I can't wait to come back and sample some more items, but for my taste I feel like that banana walnut bread alone is worth a weekly visit.

This is such a nice place to go with your dog. They have a small courtyard that is fenced in where you can sit with your pet and enjoy their wonderful pastries. The staff is great and the pastries are REALLY wonderful.

  • Ho L.

The pastries here are delicious, and quite large. Service is fast, as most people order one or two items and are on their way. There is very limited seating inside, and a few extra tables outside. We ended up walking back to our room to enjoy our goods. The interior was uncomfortably warm, but understandable since this is a bakery after all.

Q: Do you need a scone or muffin or quiche or sticky bun this morning? A: YES! Get to Wild Flour on Spring Street, stat. I have the fortune of having to walk by Wild Flour several times weekly, and as a result dedicate a solid portion of my breakfast budget to this place. My personal recommendations are the $1 doughnut muffins, the mushroom gruyere quiche and the sundried tomato-parmesan-pesto scone. This is honestly the best scone I've ever, ever had! Wild Flour, acknowledge me as a regular already! I've professed my love to this pastry, coffee, and baked goods shop more than a few times via Twitter and even in person. Unrequited love ;) Note: not a lot of parking going on on Spring Street. Go by bike or foot! Not a lot of seating inside either - but they do have a lovely small side patio complete with banana tree shade. Also note: Wild Flour is open early each morning Tues-Sat and closed Mondays!

Great bakery! A hidden gem. We were only in the area for 2 days, and discovered this on the last day as we headed out of town. We took a white box of yummy bakery items for our trip, along with great coffee. Wish we discovered it sooner. Funky, chic kind of place. We must return. Loved this place. Another great find from Yelp reviewers.

I was fortunate enough to try their Sunday cinnamon rolls. I opted for the cream cheese frosting and the pecans combo. It's approximately $0.60 cents more for the combo bringing ones total to around $3.60 plus tax. These rolls are delicious! Very tasty and sweet. I love cinnamon rolls and this one was one of my favorite. I haven't tried any of their other offerings. The service was both friendly and helpful.

Simply the best cookies in Charleston! The double chocolate (dark + white) cookie should not be missed .... if you are in need of a coffee/cookie/pastry break in the vicinity of Spring Street, this is your spot.

Great house coffee, top notch customer service, and the world's greatest mini quiches (spinach/feta or pimento chz/tomato/bacon) - cool little gem. Check it out!

Wildflour is a fairly new bakery on Spring Street which is helping to bring some life to a street which had very little exciting retail on it just two years ago. Now Wildflour, Black Bean, and the Remedy Market are all on the street doing a nice job. Wildflour servers pastries, cookies, and coffee. Not sure if they have much else because I haven't asked, there is a cooler and it looks like they sell eggs and bevies out of that. I've tried several items and the best of the bunch is the chocolate chip banana muffin, which is just heaven. Super moist and just right, probably the best muffin i've ever had. Ive tried some other items that have been good, like the rasberry nutella scone, but nothing has jumped out like the muffins. Coffee is good and the prices are right. Seems to be owner operated. My only critque is that sometimes the line backs up and I would love to see the staff there really get agressive about getting orders out quick, as i usually stop by on my way to work. But to be honest that is not the vibe of the place, it is a more leisurely vibe, which works for them. Thanks to this and the Macaroon Boutique, my breakfast diet has expanded somewhere. Waistline will follow i imagine...

This is a review for Sticky Bun Sunday! We stopped by and had a cinnamon roll and a sticky bun. We also had coffee. The cinnamon roll was the best, so if you have to choose one, that's your best choice!

Traveled a couple of blocks down from where I was staying to grab a pastry for breakfast. Unfortunately I couldn't go on Sticky Bun Sunday, and was left with only a few options-muffins, cookies, quiche, or cupcakes. Nothing looked very appetizing, but my mother grabbed a lemon (where was the zest?) and blueberry (so few of those) scone, which tasted more like a biscuit. The place was small, warm, and didn't seem too clean. For pastries i'd say to walk a little further to Sugar Bakeshop.

I love this place and Lauren is as heartwarming as the quaint surroundings. Everything is top-notch, the incredible, weighty ham and cheddar scone (which makes a great cheap breakfast by the way), the dense, delicious banana-chocolate muffin, and the classic sticky buns on Sticky Bun Sundays are my favorites so far, but I haven't even gotten to the double-chocolate cookies yet and the rest of the menu beckons. To top it off, WildFlower has a great espresso machine that does HOT, which is how I like my coffee. Why is it so hard to find places with great pastries and coffee? The two go together like . . . ham and cheddar, banana and chocolate. And the prices for everything are reasonable, too. Give up hope all ye who diet here. If there is any fault, the place is really small and with the write-up in the New York Times, the secret is out, but if you can find a seat inside or in the courtyard, or miss the busier hours, it's cozy and sweet. (Early risers rejoice!) First time finding WildFlower can be a little challenging too as it's squeezed between charming Charleston singles and is easy to miss, but once you get a fix on the place it'll be a beacon. From West Ashley, I hang a left on Coming Street off Canon and another left on Spring and immediately find parking. There is also parking in the back (bonus!). In the last ten years, my wife and I have been all up and down the west coast bemoaning the lack of great bakeries in the United States, pining for our special treats in Canada and Europe. Now that we're on the east coast, WildFlower has quashed all memory of pastries past. Charleston continues to amaze with its plethora of great top shelf restaurants, diverse eateries, and charming cafes. Add WildFlower to the list of the Best of the Best.

Finally got around to trying Wild Flour this morning. I would give them a 4.5, if there was such a thing on Yelp, but I just can't rate them a 5. Let me give you the run down: * The pesto & sun-dried tomato scone was definitely a 5. Actually, it was amazing: light and tender on the inside but crisp on the outside with a flavor that's making my mouth water now remembering it. * The quiche was 4 stars. Really good quiche, but not remarkable other than the solid delivery. * The pecan sticky bun was 4, but I think the left overs will be 4.5 as they'll be eaten heated up. Why don't they heat them by default? (I'm sure you can ask for heat.) * Coffee is a 3, but that's not why you go. Get your pastries here and head a block over to Hope & Union if outstanding coffee is your thing. * Service was 4.5. And the environment was 4.5... friendly, local, not rushed, but not slow. And there's a courtyard for those of you that like to bring your dog. Have not tried their cakes, but a friend was there picking one up and said they are fab, so I would definitely try theirs in the future.

SO charming! Great coffee! We had an AMAZING ham and cheese scone that was so delicious! Also had a sticky bun that was ginormous and fun! The best part was the service! Great people that really welcomed you and can whip up the most yummy of yummiest treats! Definitely a gem! Can't wait to go back!

We randomly found WildFlour while looking for a place to order a small cake to do the ceremonial cutting at our wedding. Only in town for a wedding planning weekend, Lauren had us select a couple of flavors to try. The next morning she had delicious mini cupcakes waiting for us. Our luck, it was also Sunday and we got to try the famous sticky buns! Months later when we came to pick up the cake we ordered, Lauren told me she had some extra batter so she made a bigger cake-at no extra charge to me. She wanted to make sure I hadn't had a specific sized stand for the smaller cake, and when I told her I didn't have a stand at all she let me borrow one for the wedding. Since the cake was bigger we were able to serve it to guests, who absolutely LOVED it. Vanilla cake with dolce de leche buttercream, out of this world! We couldn't have been happier with our experience at WildFlour. Brides be sure to check this place out!

We were visiting and got on yelp to look for cute cafes. So glad we found Wildflour. It was everything we were wanting. Quaint and delicious and friendly. We loved it so much we came back the next day for more. The black walnut banana bread was wonderful and their key lime pie was the best we have ever tasted. The scones were the perfect texture. Our only disappointment was that we had not found it earlier in our visit.

Our server at McCradys (fantastic restaurant) recommended this place for breakfast and it was great. A bit off the beaten (tourist) path it is a place where the locals go for baked goods. No less than five regulars came I. While we're were eating and the staff knew everyone's preferences. They were just as friendly with tourists as well. Fantastic quich, scones, coffee and banana bread. Totally worth the walk!

WOW!!! What an amazing bakery! My husband and I recently married downtown and were set on doing pies for our wedding desserts. We looked at a LOT of places downtown, and Lauren was by far the most accommodating and affordable. She was so easy going and very flexible to work with. It was great having her and not having to worry about anything!! She was able to provide delivery and stands. And, most importantly, the pies were so amazing. I'm still getting calls from guests talking about the pies! Thank you so much Lauren!

My wife and I were in Charleston for a few days and we were looking on Yelp for a breakfast place close to our rental unit. The reviews are right on and this bakery/pastry/coffee shop is awesome! The people that work there are super nice and the dinning area is clean. The coffee is solid and the pastries are delicious. We ate there twice and tried everything from the muffins to the turnovers and scones. Everything was fresh and amazing. Great place to hang out in the morning and slowly wake up over some good food and drink while reading the paper. Good location too! You've gotta check this place out.

I love this place! I was stopping through on the way home to Charlotte for a quick breakfast and drive through Charleston and I'm so glad I found this quaint bakery. It's a super cute storefront with the tiniest patio but totally worth the squeeze. I went on a Sunday morning for their Pecan Sticky Buns and a latte. Delicious! I also got to try their strawberry jam Scone, what a great idea! The smell of cinnamon and fresh baked goods makes waiting in line totally worth it.

Go there on Sunday and grab a cinnamon roll. Everything else is nice, but the cinnamon rolls are the best. Only on Sundays! I go there regularly before work (they are a block away) and get a standard drip coffee and usually a hand made granola bar. They make everything in the shop so everything is fresh and wonderful. They are also some of the friendliest people I've met in Charleston. If you are a regular, they will have a nice conversation with you. Wonderful people.

Wildflour is a wonderful little bakery on the commercial-but-quiet stretch of spring street. Good pastries and desserts and loose-leaf tea served up in a homey, relaxing setting. There are only a few tables so it's not a place I would count on to hang out in but it's fun to stop by if you're in the area.

    (4)
  • Andrew F.

Very disappointing. I would echo the prior review which noted that Wild Flour is not particularly clean. Very bland offerings--the muffins and scones are average at best, more like grocery store fare. I frequent Charleston on business and there are much better choices in much better neighborhoods.

During (long) weekend visit to Charleston, my friends and I had the pleasure of staying in the rental condo directly above the WildFlour. We had three mornings in Charleston, and it was clear after the first morning that we wouldn't need to go farther than downstairs for our breakfasts! As I'm not a local, I can't say much about location or convenience, but from the perspective of food and atmosphere, it was terrific. Over three mornings, I was able to try the raspberry and nutella turnover (light, buttery, and delicious...not too sweet!), strawberry jam scone (light and delicious...and not too sweet!), and the delicious mozzarella-pesto-sun-dried-tomato scone (amazing!). My friends really enjoyed the sticky buns and muffins, too. There is a very nice selection of looseleaf teas. And the staff is terrific, too. I'm looking forward to going back here on future visits to Charleston.

Ummmm talk about amazing. After returning from Charleston for almost a week, I am wishing for a wild flour in Chicago. The amazing sweets are literally to die for.

Best quiche ever. Like 100 times better. Quaint neighborhood place. Owner knew everyone walking in the door. And we realized if we lived here we would come all the time too. Small selection but I'll take quality over quantity any day.

I had to leave five stars because there are not six as an option... I have been coming here for a year and even lived across the street for six months. This place is amazing. Sticky Bun Sunday's, Sopressatas, and wonderful coffee- just to name a few of my favorites.

  • Mei B.

Love this place. The aromas when you walk in are intoxicating: warm, cinnamon'y, home-baked goodness. Ordered a pecan pie for my husband. I'm not even a pecan pie person but it was to die for. Tons of lightly toasted pecans floating at the top. The filling wasn't too sweet; smooth and brown sugar'y. Sam was amazing. Wasn't able to pick it up the pie that day, left a message before closing to let them know. He called back and apologized for not being able to answer the phone (they were busy). Asked if I'd like to pick it up after closing anyway. Was perfect since it was part of my anniversary gift. Sam was super helpful and gracious. What a pastry wizard! Thanks to the folks at Wild Flour. I'd def' be back. :)

This place certainly lives up to the hype! The combo cinnamon roll w frosting and pecans is the way to go. The donut muffin is sinfully good and the iced teas they make are all wonderful

Whoa-ho that's some tasty soppressata turnover. If you're lucky enough to be there when it's available, get it. Compared to the apple turnover, it's amazing. The apple is flaky, sure, but the filling leaves much to be desired. In fact, it hardly had any apple at all. A shame really. But the soppressata was fantastic. Savory and filled with some meat and cheese and veggies while still flaky and buttery on the pastry. We enjoyed it so much that it was one of the only places we returned to on our visit.

Yes. Just yes. Donut muffin is life-altering. And the bacon and swiss quiche is delicious, even cold. This place always delivers.

  • Patrick H.

Yes, everyone comes here for the incredible cinnamon rolls and they are truly worth it. However- as a regular, it's the pies, scones, and danishes that get me in the rest of the week. Their cheesecakes (particularly the Banana Nutella one) are bar none. I would highly, highly recommend this place for it's amazing eats and great staff!

A great little neighborhood bakery! Tried the pimento cheese / bacon, tomato pie this weekend and a chocolate brownie - both fantastic!

Did not come on a Sunday, so they did not have sticky buns. I had the banana bread which was alright, lots of walnuts on top but I wished it had more banana. The mocha that I got was terrific though. Nice home-y kitchen behind the counter. Cute but limited seating. Internet is available, just ask.

It was fun lining up at this tiny bakery on a Sunday morning, waiting for the doors to open and the heavenly scent of cinnamon rolls to waft out. They were literally the size of salad plates, and they were tasty and delicious. I was probably even more thrilled because I had just gotten engaged the night before, but they were incredible. My fiance was even more excited than I was, and the best part was that this little bakery was within walking distance of our hostel!

This is, In my opinion, the best bakery in Charleston. My hesitation in calling it a "bakery" is because they don't just bake here... They make freaking mini-food miracles. Long week and need an amazing latte? Check. Looking for a neighborhood spot that has a quaint patio to sit and get some work done away from the hustle of downtown or your roommates? Check. Want the most amazing non-donut donut creation except the Cronut? Check (Dough-muffs...AMAZING). Would you also like to be treated like family on a regular basis? Check. Wait? Do you have puppies that you feel "are more like my kids"? Check. They have homemade dog biscuits for just that purpose. Have you ever wanted the most delicious breakfast quiche ever? Tomato pie... Holy Jeez. In short, you must run not walk to Wildflour and spend as much as possible. SATURDAY & SUNDAY only... PECAN ROLLS... Sell out every day, must get there right at 8 or call ahead!!

I've been looking for a great bakeshop around Charleston and found this place. Bakeshop itself is small and maybe could use an update and maybe a little bit of cleaning. But the 2 things that I bought was great!!! I tried their peach cheese cake and sticky bun w/ pecan Love, love, love!!! Can't say anything bad about them! Will definitely go back and try other bakery goods.

I went out of my way to make it to this bakery for the much hyped cinnamon buns and sticky buns. They were good but not the best I've ever had. If you like soft pillowy yeasty cinnamon rolls with few swirls of dough then you'll like these. I prefer thinner and more layers to maximize the amount of cinnamon sugar filling. This is just my personal preference. For the type of roll that this was, it was actually very good. On the other hand, the double chocolate chip cookie was one of the best I've ever had. it had a crisp, almost meringue-like, delicate exterior with a gooey inside. The shop is cute but very small with limited seating. The girl at the register was very helpful and seemed knowledgeable about the products.

We stopped by here midday on a Tuesday. There were some people wandering in and out. The atmosphere of the place is exactly what you always thinks of when thinking of a small town bakery. It was well decorated and had some cute chairs and tables both inside and outside. The prices are great, especially when your used to Starbucks prices. I ordered a chai latte and it was delicious. The cinnamon rolls are only available on Sundays (which I wish I knew because that's what I really came for). To satisfy a sweet tooth I had now, I ordered a salted caramel cupcake (recommended by the barista) and was pretty disappointed. The whole thing was cold, which I understand you need to do if you don't eat it in a day, but then it's not much of a fresh pastry. The taste of the cupcake itself was ok but nothing fantastic. I really didn't enjoy the icing though. It tasted like pure hard butter with a sprinkle of sugar on top. I still give it 4 stars because the pricing and ambiance were great and because I'd love to stop by and try another pastry.

I haven't even been in to this shop myself, but a mere sampling of their fare has me running to Yelp. I was brought the sticky roll and cinnamon roll by a wondrous coworker who came with me to a Sunday morning event. Though they weren't super fresh out of the oven, they were both still soft and sweet and delicious at about 9:30 AM. I was told sticky bun Sunday is something not to be missed. I must concur. They are MASSSIVE AND DECADENT- but while they are sweet- they aren't sickeningly, over the top sweet. Perhaps they are not for the crowd that prefers something more understated and subtle- but for cinnamon/sticky bun enthusiasts they are the perfect level of sugary sweet! One is more than filling enough and they can easily be shared (though you probably won't want to). Even pastries that had been sitting in a box and weren't warmed up tasted fresh and impressive. Far superior to any grocery store version. This being said, I can't imagine what it's like to roll in when they open and get one of the very first but I would encourage everyone to make the early Sunday morning trip to experience this- I know I need to! AND if you have to grab some pastries that you won't be able to enjoy right away- these seem to hold up well and be enjoyable even a few hours after you buy them- so that's a useful thing to know. There's nothing more disappointing that pastries that after 10 AM have lost their luster! The size and quality are worth the visit! And if you have to bring some breakfast treats anywhere- I promise these will impress!

Do yourself a favor and go on a Sunday for cinnamon buns and sticky buns. While the line is long and often outside, it's not too long of a wait and well worth it. Since I love both options, I opt for the combo- it's a fat kids version of a sticky bun because it also includes the cream cheese frosting that's on the cinnamon bun. Of course if if you opt for another day besides Sunday, there are other fabulous things to pick up- donut muffins, quiche and Nutella turnovers (oh yes!). Crave it any day you'd like, just not Monday because they are closed.

I stopped in last week when I was on Spring. It was mid day so they weren't too busy. It was hot out and I needed some refreshment. I asked about their iced teas and was pointed to the selection of maybe 15 or so mason jars filled with different flavors of yea leaves. I narrowed it down to two until I opened up and smelled the aroma of the raspberry black - decision made. They brewed it up fresh for me in a matter of minutes and iced it down for a nice afternoon refreshment. While waiting for my delicious tea, I couldn't keep my eyes off the pastries (you know that do that shit on purpose), but who can blame them. I couldn't help but try something before I left. Before venturing back out into the heat I decided to try the strawberry oat bar and sit down for a relaxing tea and crumpets type of moment at a table by the window. The strawberry bar reminded me slightly of a strawberry Nutrigrain bar but, without all the nasty preservatives and fake ingredients. I was very please with my afternoon stop and can't wait to get back some Sunday morning for a sticky bun... see how I left room for a potential 5 star upgrade? Me thinks they will earn it.

I admit I wasn't sure about this place, because all of the photos were of giant, beautiful sticky buns (not that there's anything wrong with that! I just wanted something savory.) I was welcomed by the gorgeous site of a ham and cheese scone. Absolutely delectable! My soy latte was very good too.

Really cute bakery/coffee shop. The outdoor seating adds a lot to the atmosphere. The granola and scones are good, but their food can sometimes get a little too sweet. Coffee is typical craft coffee; very earthy tasting. The staff is really nice but can be a little slow so don't go there expecting to be in and out

Absolutely wonderful! We had the sun dried tomato and pesto scone and the sorpressata scone both were mouth watering. I wish that we would have found this place on our first day of vacation well at least it was the best for last!

Items selected: Sticky Bun Apple Turnover Donut Muffin Fig, Chevre, Prosciutto Quiche Lemon Curd and Blueberry Scone Banana Bread An early alarm and onward we went to Charleston where the low country beckoned and breakfast entailed a stop at Wild Flour Pastry for one of their oft-raved Sunday Sticky Buns and a handful of other baked goods. Owned and operated by Lauren Mitterer, who was busily working on a large cake throughout our stay, Wild Flour is a small space with a smiling staff and limited seating that seems to have the formula just right - a well culled menu of 'regulars' and a variety of specials each day allowing for a focus on quality over quantity in each item we tried from the sweet meets savory quiche to a light and aromatic scone with pockets of butter as big as those of the berries. Clearly a space dedicated to authenticity and rustic classics as opposed to more trendy options like cupcakes or macarons it should perhaps be no surprise that items such as the tender and nutty banana bread or an apple turnover that shattered into thousands of paper-thin layers with each bite impressed as much as they did, but without a doubt the star of the show was the golden brioche seemingly supersaturated with butter and caramelized pecans that they call a sticky bun, the light toasting of the nuts and a dash of salt taking something expectedly delicious and making it worth getting up an hour earlier than you normally would have and driving from Asheville for.

I've had WildFlour's pastries from frequenting The Orange Spot, and I like them well enough. The pastries aren't exactly thrilling, but they taste pretty good. The reason I decided to visit the source is because The Orange Spot serves quiche from WildFlour on the weekends, and I needed my quiche fix. Plus, The Orange Spot doesn't have the fig, chèvre, and prosciutto flavor of quiche, and I wanted to try it. But coming to WildFlour I was disappointed. The inside of the store was disorganized and badly in need of air conditioning. I'm not sure if they were reorganizing things or not, but having your stock piled around in the back of your store isn't inviting or aesthetically pleasing. And how can you not have some air conditioning going on in 90 degree weather? The fig, chèvre, and prosciutto quiche I ordered was heated unevenly, and there was just too high of a crust to filling ratio. The reason I love the quiche WildFlour makes for The Orange Spot is that there is tons of delicious, buttery eggy filling in a normal-sized slice of quiche. Serving personal-size mini-quiches means that you get so much crust that you can hardly taste the actual egg part of the quiche. The experience wasn't all bad. My fiancé ordered zucchini bread and that was chocolate-y and good. From my experiences eating WildFlour's pastries at The Orange Spot, I can say that the raspberry-Nutella turnover, the sweet potato bread, and chocolate-banana muffin are some of their best pastries. And their coffee drinks are really cheap, and the espresso wasn't burnt! I don't plan on returning, except maybe to try the sticky buns and cinnamon rolls served on Sundays. I'm curious about them because of all the good reviews.

This place is very, very cute and local. Small with seating upstairs but they homemake all their pastries and the coffee is actually really good. I wish there was more seating but I don't think most of their business are simply coffee connoisseurs like myself.

Oh goodness my...this place is beyond words. We went on Cinnamon Roll sunday...the cinnamon roll was warm, gooey and the perfect balance of icing to cinnamon roll. It was fluffy and not too overly sweet. We sat in a great little booth in the window. My kids each also had one of the $1 donut muffins and my husband had the chocolate banana muffin (I tried it and thought it was really good--fresh and yummy). It does get really crowded and they were out of the sweet rolls when we got there--they gave a time of 20 minutes and a lot of people waited--we asked and they said definitely worth the rate. It was rainy the day we went, so you could not sit outside so the seating was very limited. The staff was REALLY helpful and even allowed me to step back and take a picture of the cinnamon rolls before heading into the oven. I would put this place on the must try in Charleston list.

Delicious food- make sure you go on Sunday for sticky buns but don't miss out on the little tarts either (mushroom and gruyere is phenomenal). I called every bakery in town to make a sweet potato cake and this is the only one who would even attempt it. Wonderful!

We thought this place looked like a great choice for coffee since it was near our housing... after waiting an absurd length of time (I'm talking Saturday night live skit "how can they stay in business" length of time) for three coffees, we were disheartened to find our coffee barely warm, watery, with floating grounds, at best mediocre. wowza. With all due respect to the folks who clearly love and appreciate this place, maybe they were having an especially bad day?

Sticky Bun Sunday is worth it. 4 of us went in and got sweet rolls (1 combo, 2 pecan, and 1 iced) and there was nothing left when we were done. We also tried a strawberry scone, which was pretty good, but didn't compare to the sticky buns. We were fortunate and there was no line, but even if there is, wait. These buns are worth it.

My husband and I got our wedding cake and pies for our rehearsal dinner from here. The wedding cake was salted caramel and chocolate and AMAZING. Lauren was so helpful and accommodating. The tasting was so much fun, the cake was beautiful and exactly what we asked for, and she helped us secure the cake in our car when picked it up. And the pies were such a hit too. We had lemon meringue, mixed berry, and pecan and all 3 were flavors were great. Our guests raved about the cake and pies all weekend long. Thanks Lauren!!!

Just moved to the neighborhood, and was told to check out Sticky Bun Sundays at Wildflour. Walked down this morning (with my bulldog, Lucy) and expected that I'd have to tie her up to a palm tree to place my order, like usual. Owner insisted to bring her in, which was super nice. They sold dog cookies to boot, which Lucy SCARFED down. Went with an iced coffee and a combo sticky bun roll. Legitimately the best sticky bun of my life. Super excited to have a bakery like this in the neighborhood. Can't wait to come back to try more.

Want an oversized but extra tasty breakfast pastry and a great coffee or espresso to start the day? Want to live like a local and stay off the tourist-trap path? Like a general neighborhood feel with cozy corners or a patio draped in fresh greenery? This is WildFlour and we make it a mandatory part of every Sunday we pull in town. Why Sunday? It's the sticky-buns that are literally the size of a small child's head. That and the cinnamon rolls (about the same size) are sweet treats perfect for sharing, or for saving some for later in the day. Despite the big size, both are the perfect mix of crispy texture on the outside and fluffy sweet chew on the inside. Choose either with icing or without, equally good and fully satisfying. In the savory department, the scones have always been a hit with me. I particularly love the goat cheese and roasted red pepper. The scone is solid, yet also creamy and has a great crumb on the inside. Each bite is packed with flavor. If not that, a breakfast quiche is always a solid plan B. A stop in here yields little more than a large counter and a kitchen that seems impossibly small but is always packed with activity from the other staff. There are two small nooks with seating for a party of no more than 4, and a small community table that also hosts a paperback book wall for trade. The place has a total 'neighborly' kind of feel, without ever feeling too commercial or sterile. During the warmer months, the small patio out the side door is perfect for all the Charleston ambiance you could want to soak in. Add in a cup of competently-made hot coffee or espresso and that's the morning folks!

I ordered a spinach and feta quiche that was delicious. My wife and I also both got a chocolate banana muffin that was also great. There are only about 5 tables (2 inside and 3 outside), so don't expect to get a seat unless you get there very early. It worked out fine for us because we were staying a few feet away on Coming St so we just took our breakfast back to the cottage to eat. Pretty expensive but I didn't feel cheated.

Quite frankly, anyone who writes a negative review of WildFlour Pastry should be tried for crimes against humanity. I just discovered this bakery during a visit to Charleston this past weekend and I've been craving their glorious rolls of cinnamon perfection ever since I left. Pastries: WildFlour offers an assortment of pastries, cakes, and various other delicacies, but the clear standout out is their infamous cinnamon rolls and sticky buns. I was fortunate enough to visit them on Sticky Bun Sunday, which is worthy of becoming a national holiday as far as I am concerned. The cinnamon rolls and sticky buns were fresh out of the oven, sizable, and perfectly delectable. In addition, we also tried the peanut butter cookie and the German chocolate cupcake, both of which were equally as enjoyable. For those that are so inclined, WildFlour also offers and assortment of hot and cold beverages. Service: As was expected, there was a line out the door during our pilgrimage to WildFlour. However, the staff kept the line moving and were more than pleasant throughout the ordering process. They were also incredibly efficient when it came to providing a wait time for the next available batch of cinnamon rolls and ensuring that each patron received the appropriate order. Atmosphere: The space in which WildFlour is housed is incredibly small and cramped, but my guess is that their popularity and stellar product will result in expansion sometime in the near future. There are a handful of tables inside the bakery and on the outside patio, but most of the patrons choose to take their order to go. We chose to sit on stools at the counter that overlooked the kitchen, which afforded a unique opportunity to see the bakers at work. Cost: Inexpensive. Sticky buns and cinnamon rolls are $2.75 each, while cookies and muffins are around $2 to $3. Major credit cards are accepted. Other: When ordering your sticky buns and cinnamon rolls, make sure you tell them you want the combo, which ensures that each is topped with cream cheese frosting and warm pecans. The plain roll/bun is still delicious, but the toppings bring the entire experience to a completely different level. Yes, some may consider it excessive, but no one is going to judge you in this magnificent palace of gluttony.

Oh my gosh, I just had the most amazing cinnamon roll I've ever had in my life. Stopped in on a Sunday morning around 10am for a cappuccino and stayed and enjoyed a roll. They have sticky buns with pecans, cinnamon rolls with cream cheese frosting, and combo rolls with both. The cinnamon roll was perfect. Fluffy dough with słightly crispy caramelized outsides... Covered with delicious, sweet vanilla cream cheese frosting. I ate the whole thing and I don't care how many calories it was (definitely a lot) it was so worth it. Stop in and cozy up in a booth (there are only a couple indoor seats) and treat yo self.

I've had a crush on Wildflour pastries even before the doors were opened (and was introduced to Lauren and her remarkable skills when she was over at Red Drum.) These baked goods, both sweet and savory, are exceptional. One could wax poetic about the stuff here. My favorite treat is either the little quiches they have (some with bacon/ham, but some safe for herbivores), the scones (can't decide if I like the savory or the sweeter ones more. I'll just have to keep trying them.) Other baked goods (cookies, blondies, oatmeal bars, etc) are tasty, but if you want to treat yourself to something special, pick something from the case -- chocolate caramel tart, truffles, lemon bars, cupcakes, etc. The key lime pie is such a favorite in our house that I carried one on the airplane to California for a graduation goodie for our offspring. A few other things worth mentioning: baked to order pies and wedding cakes, house-made lemonade in the hot season, Sticky bun Sundays, side patio, and a BookCrossing bookshelf to pick up something to read. Love this place.

I just had a sun-dried tomato, pesto turnover warmed to perfection. Without being more candid, every bite was an orgasm in my mouth. I cannot say enough about the amazing taste of this delicacy and about this cute and quaint little coffee shop on Spring street. With a bench and table in the little outdoor courtyard and a few window tables inside this tiny little coffee shop has more warmth and hospitality than most places in Charleston. This is a must if you come downtown!!!

Chose wedding cake from Chicago, never tasted a thing just ordered. Day of wedding chocolate peanut butter wedding cake delivered EVEN with our credit card declined! Lauren made it all happen, site unseen, even with a payment issue (we resolved later that day) And let me tell you about this cake- I will be jonesin for this thing until the next visit to Charleston. EVERYONE couldnt get enough of this delicious combo- it was beautiful and tasted like a dream. Thank you Lauren for your care and delivery on our special day! I recommend this bakery whether you are local OR out of town- get here or order from them they are marvelous!

Perhaps I got them in a bad day. I ordered 2 stuffed scones and a chocolate chip cookie. The scones tastes old and they contained so little stuffing, I couldn't tell what flavor they were. Cookie was of mediocre quality. Not the food you look forward to eating. Very disappointing.

Yummy yummy yummy. I love a fantastically done baked good! I was the first person in the front door (other than the firemen they let in before they officially opened through a side door - slightly annoying but aside the point) a few Sundays ago. You could smell the sticky buns outside and it was killer waiting. My boyfriend and I each got a sticky bun and he got a coffee while I got a tea. I'm a pretty avid tea drinker so I like when the selection reaches beyond Lipton Decaf and Lipton Regular, even more so when the selection reaches beyond Tazo teas (which WFP does! Yay!) Everything was absolutely delicious! My single and only complaint comes from when we first sat down and began to eat, another girl walked in and asked for a sticky bun and the girl behind the counter asked "with icing or without?" and my head literally WHIPPED around. Why didn't I get asked if I want icing?! I want icing on my sticky bun!! So while I'm sure it was half both our faults, I was still a little bummed. But make sure you specify!! Regardless I fully enjoyed the experience and can't wait to (hopefully) become somewhat of a regular when I move down to Charleston in August.

Tried the sticky bun, various scones and some cookies. Overall, pretty good. The sticky bun was decent. The scones were really good. The place is really small and only has a few tables, so most people get their food to go. It's a very popular place, so we had to wait in a line for a few minutes.

Best scones ever! I've never had anything that tasted less than amazing here. Try the pesto mozzarella scones. If you're a fan of sticky buns, then you must go on Sunday. I usually don't care for sweet stuff at breakfast, but the sticky buns are amazing. Also, they made salted caramel cupcakes for a friend's wedding---fantastic!

All I can say is Sticky-bun/Cinnamon Roll Sundays. WildFlour has an excellent selection of cupcakes, some brownies/bars, and savory pastries (mostly quiche). For the caffeine lovers out there, you can also get a descent cup of java or chai.

I arrived at 8:45 on Sunday morning the bakery was already out of both cinnamon rolls and sticky buns and had to wait 15 minutes to get my cinnamon roll (they sold out of the next batch before they were even out of the oven.) It was well worth the wait, it was by far the best cinnamon roll I have ever had, the banana walnut bread was also wonderful. I will be returning

It was nice to find this place outside the touristy area so I didn't have to look far for parking. I came to grab a few things for breakfast and blast out to see the CSS Hunley in North Charleston. You walk in and see a very nice environment of wood, small counter and small kitchen in the back. There were three young women all working hard in a very confined space behind the counter and in the kitchen. There are a few tables if you choose to eat in house. There is not much selection but given the size of the place I should not have been surprised. The choices are very American pastry like cakes, muffins, sticky buns, cinnamon rolls, cupcakes, etc. Not a croissant or a pain au chocolat to be found. So I ordered a blueberry muffin, a cranberry/orange muffin and a coffee. Both muffins were very nice and the coffee was good too. I reserved one of the muffins for the next morning and it was still good. Which was important b/c the choices at Charleston airport were much below the quality of the muffin.

Their definition of a mocha is espresso topped with chocolate milk. Seriously. And if you get it iced, they don't even mix it so that when you sip from the straw, you just get espresso and are force to shake it yourself to the detriment of your clothing. For those of you that will say "But this is a bakery!", I cannot see how their cinnamon rolls make up for their atrocious coffee. I don't see much reason to go here other than the fact that it's around the corner from the formerly glorious Hope and Union, which is now closed. So if you're in this neighborhood, desperate for sustenance this could be your place. The atmosphere is lacking, the shop is full to the gills with all sorts of bins and storage visible to the customer and not neatly organized or clean in appearance. If possible get your coffee somewhere else.

Go on sundays for the incredible cinnamon rolls the size of your face. I have never made weird enjoyment sounds when biting into food, but this did the trick. I've been drooling in my sleep just thinking about them. Also, apple turnover is the jam, coffee is good. Everyone that works here is super nice too.

Before going back to the airport to fly home, my wife had to try "this bakery I read about on Yelp." We walked from our hotel to WildFlour and were not disappointed. The cinnamon rolls/sticky buns were a southern treat and very delicious. The staff were friendly and prompt, and I'm actually glad we didn't come here earlier in our trip because we would have stopped by each morning to have another roll.

I always wonder why I wander into pastry shops when I much prefer savory grub. Then, I take a bite of something awesome, and I remember that there was a time when I used to be a sweets person. WFP is located a bit off of the Meeting and King strips. Being tucked into a neighborhood, it is a nice local spot to grab something to pack on the pounds. On top of having a large selection of pastries, WFP offers some unique and extremely affordable baked goods. There is not much room for sitting and enjoying your item, but if you get a chance to sit down inside, take it. The Sunday sticky bun was amazing. I probably had 20 pecan halves just on top. They were perfectly crisp and glazed, and the inside was buttery, moist, and still piping hot. Steam was coming out like a chimney. The bun was not overly sweet, which was also another plus. The strawberry oat bar is crumbly, and not too jelly-heavy. I am not too much of a jelly person, so the dense, dry texture provided a nice crunchy feature to pair with my sticky bun. You need to check this joint out if you are in Charleston and enjoy locally made sweets. They also serve a good coffee and tea menu. I highly recommend this spot.

  • Elaine O.

We got there early enough on Sticky Bun Sunday to score the last iced sticky bun. Perfectly iced and pecanned (but not both) and not too dense. This will be the cinnamon bun that I compare all cinnamon buns to. Cheap delicious espresso drinks too.

I was sad that they don't do sticky buns on weekdays, but the cinnamon swirl muffin that I had was a great second choice! They warmed it up for me and I scarfed it in 30 seconds flat. Yum.

I had to leave five stars because there are not six as an option... I have been coming here for a year and even lived across the street for six months. This place is amazing. Sticky Bun Sunday's, Sopressatas, and wonderful coffee- just to name a few of my favorites.

Yes. Just yes. Donut muffin is life-altering. And the bacon and swiss quiche is delicious, even cold. This place always delivers.

A great little neighborhood bakery! Tried the pimento cheese / bacon, tomato pie this weekend and a chocolate brownie - both fantastic!

Tried the sticky bun, various scones and some cookies. Overall, pretty good. The sticky bun was decent. The scones were really good. The place is really small and only has a few tables, so most people get their food to go. It's a very popular place, so we had to wait in a line for a few minutes.

We got there early enough on Sticky Bun Sunday to score the last iced sticky bun. Perfectly iced and pecanned (but not both) and not too dense. This will be the cinnamon bun that I compare all cinnamon buns to. Cheap delicious espresso drinks too.

Great people that really welcomed you and can whip up the most yummy of yummiest treats! Definitely a gem! Can't wait to go back!

Best quiche ever. Like 100 times better. Quaint neighborhood place. Owner knew everyone walking in the door. And we realized if we lived here we would come all the time too. Small selection but I'll take quality over quantity any day.
