Service sucks.... If I was the manager I would start firing. Little Korean girl - my server awful. We got our appetizers before our drinks. Asked her to come help us - we got ignored. Overall I have yet to be satisfied with their service, asked for a substitution with sushi.. The girl said "we can't do that" manager did it with no problem. Lazy is the word for their servers.

I would like to post no star to this place if yelp has this option. My boyfriend and I went to Charleston for a week and tonight was our last night in town. So we wanted to find a nice place to have dinner. We got a recommendation to try this spot because my bf and I are big fan of sushi. We had the worst sushi in our entire life tonight. Both of us wanted to throw up after the meal, REALLY. We order the crisped crab wonton, but there was no crab meat, instead we only tasted a cream cheese sauce. We also order the Wasabi House Roll, the Dragon Roll and the Salmon Roll. They all tasted salty and the disaster was all the rolls with CREAM CHEESE in them. The combination of the fish and so much cream cheese was awful. You only can taste cream cheese, but I paid for the Sushi Price~~~. Very bad experience and I still feel like throwing up while writing this comment.

Very nice evening. Great Sushi, attentive service, nice ambiance, lots of choices and when I asked for some recommendations got some very nice choices. Been there, done that and will do the Wasabi again on our twice yearly trek to Charleston. Little pricy, but not prohibitive. We would certainly recommend it.

Sashimi Deluxe Platter was fresh, miso soup was watery. Went with a big group & the waitress was great.

Considering I'm such a fan of the Daniel Island location and I go there often, I was very disappointed with this one. My boyfriend and I decided to finally try this location because we wanted to go downtown. They recently remodeled it and part of it looks like the classy Daniel Island restaurant. Anyway, on to the food. The sushi rolls were just o.k (We ordered 4) and we asked for a side of the spicy mayo sauce which tasted nothing like it supposed to. I get this stuff all the time and this was the first time I couldn't even eat it. We also got a special of the night which was a cashew chicken and vegetables dish because we love the one from PF Changs and I was hoping that it was similar. Absolutely disgusting! The "chicken" (and I say that loosely because I'm not sure it was chicken) was like chewing on pieces of fat. I tried 3 pieces because at first I thought I got a bad piece and then by the third one, I knew it was every piece. It was so gross. We told the waitress because the chefs should know (even though I'm sure they do and they are just cutting costs) that they are serving garbage. It's pretty obvious that it's horrible when half the dish is left over. We still paid for it because we weren't offered a comp or even a substitution but oh well. We left very disappointed and I was upset we didn't go to one of the many great restaurants in Charleston. It bothers me that they give that crap to the tourists and make a bad name for themselves! We will never go there again and I would never recommend it. I'll stay with the Daniel Island one any day. It's fresh, sophisticated and delicious. I was actually scared when I left because if the chicken was that bad, then I'm doubting the fish was sushi grade and when your meal comes out in less that 10 min, it's obviously not made with love.

This is my to go sushi place for years! They have wonderful specials on food and drinks. My favorite rolls are the yum yum and salmon fashion. I haven't tried a roll I didn't like. The hibachi is nice as well. It's only $10 on Thursdays. I typically received good service and the atmosphere is pretty relaxed. It is near Market Street so a good starting place for a night out. Warning: Sushi service is slow on 50% off nights more so Tuesday than Thursday. Get a drink/app and be patient.

In terms of finding great sushi in Charleston, many other places are far better than Wasabi in my opinion. While the 1/2 off all sushi and $10 Hibachi on Tuesday nights is a great deal, the quality of food is mediocre and the service has always been very slow during my experiences. With normal rolls around $6 each and specialty rolls around $10-12, on Tuesdays you can walk out of Wasabi paying less than $10 for two rolls, making it pretty hard to complain. If you looking for a quick-fix sushi craving, then Wasabi on a Tuesday is a good bet, however if you are looking for great quality sushi, I recommend Oku or Kanpaii in Mount Pleasant. Its also worth mentioning that if you are trying to find a spot to dine downtown in a large group for a birthday or event of some kind, Wasabi is also a good option, as there is very seldom a wait and plenty of large tables available.

Half price sushi is totally worth 4 stars alone. Cool spot that feels a little upscale while still being casual. Sushi is great and service is always on point. Tuesday is half price sushi, did I mention that?

I want to begin by saying my rating may be for very different reasons than the traditional ones, you know food quality and taste. I will get to that. Be patient. Don't be jumping the gun to the bottom of the page. I know all your foodie spoilers want to just read the last few lines. Well you can't. Really, you are doing it out of spite. Ok. I hope you can live with yourself in the morning. First, mosaic tiles in the bathroom. So rarely do we discuss the restrooms. They deserve credit. If you have a bad meal, you could spent a lot of time in one or if you drink to much and break the seal, it becomes like a second home. Wasabi (Men's room) has some cool brown mosaic tiles on the walls. I like it. And foam soap. Big fan of foam soap. Second, incredible marketing. Aside from Friday and Saturday, there is a food and/or drink special every night of the week. They can always draw a crowd because they yield to the sushi / hibachi fans and the cost savings diners. Well done. And they are consistent week after week. You don't have to guess what their specials are when you get there. Third, low sodium soy sauce on the tables. Kudos!! Fourth, the service is always consistently strong. Professional, efficient and fun. Finally, the sushi is good quality fish and the tempura and seaweed salad are worth enjoying. Make sure Wasabi makes it to your list when you have a sushi fix.

Wasabi is like a quick sushi-crave-fix for me. Especially on Tuesdays and Thursday when the rolls are half off and drinks on special. I like Scam roll and... That's it. I actually tried most of the menu, but I'm sold on Scam. $4.50 roll makes it delicious I believe. The place is nice and has nice atmosphere. Wasabi can be ideal college hang-out place or a casual married couple go-out option (as it is in my case). Don't expect much and you won't be disappointed.

You go hear because it is not full of tourists. For a place so close to the central tourist area, there sure are a lot of local, F and B people at this place. That can only mean that these locals know their stuff. I go there all the time because it is simply the best sushi in downtown peninsula. I have tried all the sushi places downtown, these guys know their stuff here. As well, they recently started having salmon toro (high fat belly). It is so melt in your mouth pure awesomeness!

We took my 19 year old cousin here for her bachelorette dinner. We came on a Thursday and, lucky for us, they were having a killer happy hour. The specials included selected half priced sushi rolls, $10 Hibachi (your choice of meat - Steak or Chicken), 1/2 priced Hot Sake (your choice of flavor - Apple or Blueberry), $2 beers. Our server, Amber, was adorable and very attentive. We came around 8:30pm and the place was pretty cleared out Amber informed us that we had just missed the rush. This was great for us we were all pretty hungry. To start we ordered the Chicken Lettuce Wraps and some Sake for the appropriately aged ladies in our group. The lettuce wraps were very tasty but sake was a little much and kind of tasted like warm Kool-Aid (if Kool-Aid had a bite that is). A couple girls ordered hibachi and the rest of us split several sushi rolls. I tried both and all of it was excellent. I am usually a big fan of Ponzu sauce but I didn't really like it here so I used the low sodium soy sauce. I will note that, while many of the rolls we ordered were advertised as spicy, none of them really had any fire (at least not to me). All of them were delicious. We ordered the banana tempura for dessert and I thought it fell a little flat. The ice cream that it came with, not the fried banana, was the star on this plate as far as I was concerned. Because of the mixed company, we did not spend any time at the bar but I could tell that, when busy, this place was probably a pretty fun hangout. I am looking forward to coming again the next time we visit family in Charleston.

After our less than stellar experience at Tsunami, we were hoping that this place would help us forget what we had experienced our first night in Charleston. And that it did! We decided to have lunch here on our last day in Charleston and since our Culinary tour guide had recommended it, we were staying positive. The place is very nice and decorated very trendy with beige leather seating and booths. They had some very affordable lunch menus but none of the rolls caught my eye. I ended up ordering off the actual specialty roll menu. It ended up being $22 for 2 orders of rolls but for the quality and amount, it was completely worth it. I went the the Carolina and Rainbow rolls. Both delicious and very, very filling. You can easily share unless you are very hungry. Our server was good. Checked on us regularly and even took the obligatory last day in Charleston photo of us. Bookmark this place if you want good sushi in Charleston! You've been warned!

The best time to visit Wasabi for sushi is on Tuesdays for Half Price Roll night. You get the most bang for you buck and can order multiple specialty rolls without breaking the bank. Subarshi roll is delcious. Spicy shrimp topped with seared tuna, ginger dressing, and raw onions. Yum. The servers are always very friendly, but not attentive. The past two times we have visited we have sat at our table for quite a while before being greeted and waited too long when requesting something.(straw, low sodium soy, pretty basic stuff) The bar area is nice. A much needed imnprovement from the bar area years ago. The back rooms are perfect for large groups. Back in the day Wasabi use to be the hot spot for drinks and dancing. Not sure what the nightlife is like these days.

Had a great time here on Tuesday, when the sushi is half-off. Sushi is not the best, but it is cheap on Tuesday. We sat at the bar. John, the bartender, was cool. Beware of the reservation system here which is poorly honored. We made online reservations and even though we arrived a few minutes late, our reservation was not valid.

Right off the bat I am inclined to say that I don't think this place deserves the 2.5 star average rating it has now. Unfortunately, I don't think I can give it more than three stars though! First of all, their sushi is consistently good. I have eaten at Wasabi at least 5-6 times and never once have I left dissatisfied. That being said, I ALWAYS go on half price Tuesdays. Their normal menu prices are just too high - around $6 for a regular roll and $10-$12 for a specialty roll. They aren't huge or anything too special to justify such a high price point; especially the regular rolls which are heavy on the rice and only 6 pieces. So, if you are looking for a good meal of sushi, although I do recommend Wasabi, make sure you go on a Tuesday and I am pretty sure you will leave happy!

While visiting Charleston, the only reason we decided to eat at Wasabi was because everything else was booked solid due to Charleston Restaurant Week. When we got in, we spotted 4-5 open tables (we had a party of 5). The hostesses seemed flustered when we asked if they could accommodate us. After 5 minutes of standing around, they got it sorted out and sat us at a round booth near the bar, which was a good table for our party. Our server came up and introduced himself informally, joking that we were lucky because we were one of his only two tables that night, implying that we would get better service. Unfortunately, this was not the case. We promptly put in drink orders. About 20 minutes later, he arrived with our drinks and explained that the bar had "lost his ticket." The bar was pretty much completely empty, so I don't know why he wouldn't have checked on it sooner. Happy to have drinks, we wanted to get some appetizers in. I asked if the Chopstick rolls were fresh or fried. He said everything they make is fresh (not understanding the question). I explained what I meant (fresh as in made with rice paper...) and he said they were fresh. When they arrived at the table, I could clearly see they were anything but fresh. He apologized and said he was new, then told us to "let him know what was in the rolls because he had no clue" (by the way, what is inside the rolls is on the menu). Half of us ordered sushi, the other half got hibachi. The hibachi looked good and I had a couple bites of the chicken and filet. He kept telling us how fresh their sushi was compared to everyone else in Charleston, but I really found it to just be average. Finally, he didn't do a good job of splitting checks, and let us know that we had to order anything else because they had a private party to close the restaurant down for at 10 (weird?). Overall, not pleased with this place!

Easily worst meal I have had in charleston and worst in many years. Server nice and decent service. Edamame cold, old and undercooked. Sushi was mushy or puree (aka poor quality), cocktail was without booze and hibachi was slime. There is a reason why the place is empty. If you think I am just a jerk check out my other reviews as I have defended a bunch of places. This was just gross and pricey. Go to happy hour at tsunami or o-ku.. The sushi at The Islander on Daniel's Island was also much better.

The servers are friendly, but not super attentive. The food is average sushi, the location is convenient & the parking is not bad. The space is large & they have dancing some nights, as well as events you can do. Best part about this place is the sushi is they have great deals! Sushi is half priced on Tuesdays! Conclusion: Come here if you are having an event or large crew but stick to some other local joints for better taste if you are alone or with a date.

This place is perfect for me. It is walking distance from where I work, and also has superb prices for lunch. Their lunch Hibachi dishes serve more than enough food for one individual, which is nice cause sometimes I eat for two.

Went here last night with a group of around 15 people for a birthday party. We had a separate room in the back which was pretty nice. The manager was very attentive and friendly. It got a little warm in the back room because of all the people so he brought out a fan without anyone having to ask. We were bummed when the server told us we could not take advantage of the date night special since our group was so large but after a person in the group informed the manager we choose Wasabi for the group outing because of the specials he allowed us to. The food took a while to come out presumably because of the group size (1/2 hour for the appetizers, another half hour for the entrees) but ended up being pretty good. My end of the table mostly had the hibachi rib eye. I ordered medium and was amazed it was cooked as a medium. However a couple other people ordered medium well and received more of a medium rare. All in all, I thought the server and manager were pretty nice and the food was pretty good for handling such a large group of orders.

I think that the sushi at Wasabi is good AND if you go on Tuesday nights then it is a great deal!! Since all the sushi is 1/2 price, Tuesdays are great to try a few special rolls and things that might normally be too pricey. Overall, a good restaurant, with okay service and nice deals.

I was at downtown for a college meeting, a friend of mine told me about the food here are the best, and I'll not be disappointed. So I gave it a try! And it turns out to be a very fun relaxing atmosphere, I ordered the sushi dinner and my friend got hibachi filet mignon. You must try that white sauce is one of the best in town as well. Overall my experience was great, and I would definitely be back for some more .

We went with our friends one Saturday night for a party of 8. I ordered the boat for 2 and it was delicious. As a sushi lover who have eaten all over the world including Vancouver, Taiwan, and major US cities, this place is great for the cost and it's local for me. For $35, soup and salad was also included in the price. The food was all good. The only downfall was when I paid for the bill, the waitress automatically added 18% since it was a party of 8. Otherwise, it's worth the trip downtown. The other 2 locations offer free parking so be prepared to pay for parking.

The food was actually very good and and tasted fresh. My poor experience comes from the hostess, bar tender, and wait staff. I really haven't seen a group of people who really hated their jobs as bad as these folks. Clearly, it's tourist season so they were busy. The hostess didn't greet us upon entering. She simply looked down at the menus and asked "how many". The bar tender was not friendly. The waiter forgot our salads, would make comments after leaving our table and simply seemed annoyed to be at work.

I love this place for lunch because it's close to my office, but isn't inundated with tourists. In fact, I always see far more suits than I do shorts. The food is very fresh and tastes delicious every time. Sometimes the service is slow and it takes a while for your food to come, but it's never been obnoxious...just slow for a lunch break.

1 st time to Wasabi downtown and we loved it. They have great deals! We went Tuesday night and enjoyed half price rolls. Great location for those visiting the city. I'll be back.

We eat here a lot to satisfy our frequent urges for sushi. Yes, we go on Tuesday for the 1/2 price rolls, but it is mainly to justify going 2 to 3 times a month. Otherwise we wouldn't eat here anymore than once a month. We do tip based on full price though. Atmosphere: Very trendy decor. Nice and dark inside to keep it romantic for date night. The noise level is pretty low. We definitely don't have to yell to hear each other. Service: This is what keeps it from a 5 star rating. It isn't to say we haven't had good service, but I think this place has bad management. Once we find a waiter/waitress we like, they usually end up quitting. Sometimes they will vent to us in vague terms about their boss, which is what makes us assume the management doesn't take care of it's staff. Very frustrating when we are trying to establish a good relationship with our server. Food: While we have yet to try O-ku, we have tried several other sushi restaurants in hopes of finding the best in Charleston. The sushi is always fresh and the rolls are very creative. Delicious. Overall: Despite the continued cycling of wait staff, this place has terrific sushi, especially at 1/2 price. Once we found this place, we haven't had a reason to try another. Great sushi!!!

Very average. This was a little disappointing in the sushi department. I wonder if this is the kind of place that revels in their hibachi dinners. They are expensive for hibachi and pretty average priced for sushi, so if dollars equate to how good the food is, maybe we ordered the wrong thing. It wasn't a bad experience, just not stellar. I only did take out, did not dine in, so this review is only a reflection of the food and not the atmosphere or service. The menu looks enticing, having Thai dishes in addition to the regular Japanese fare. They do have a good variety of hibachi options, I think this must be the way to go at this restaurant. We ordered the crab wontons and they weren't crispy, instead kind of chewy and tough. We also had the Buddha Belly and SC roll. The rolls were good, but I've been spoiled by other places in town.

Went there with my little brother and little sister. I got the sushi dinner and they got the sashimi dinner to share. The sushi taste average, and so does the miso soup and salad that comes with it so no complaint on any thing but nothing surprising. Prices are average as well but their decor and atmosphere is quite nice. Going to give a try to other place before deciding which place best for sushi.

Kind of middle-of-the-road sushi/Japanese place. The lunch specials are a great value though!!

  • Colleen J.

Dude. This place is way under rated!! Why are all these reviews about the hibachi and chicken and blah-de-blah? All I care about is the sushi, and their sushi gets 4 stars - and on Tuesdays, when their rolls are half price, it gets 5. Good quality, variety, decent service and SO reasonable on half price sushi day. My only real gripe is that parking downtown is just silly sometimes. BOOM. Judged.

On a Saturday night to drink and the first drink I had was terrible. I even had somebody else try it and they also thought it was gross. I ordered a grey goose to make sure I got quality. That also tasted like they mixed it with hairspray. Not even bad vodka, hairspray.

I order lunch to go from Wasabi on a regular basis. I tend to always get the same thing, which is the Thai Cashew Nut with shrimp. It comes with soup or salad and a spring roll. The food is good and I always have leftovers for dinner. There are times that it's been way inconsistent though. I never know what version of the dish I'm going to get. With pineapple, without pineapple. Lots of peppers, barely any peppers. And no lie, sometimes there aren't cashews in it. And I'm always left wondering how you could leave out the one ingredient that the whole dish is named after. Go figure. Regardless of which version I end up with, the food is tasty with one major exception. The salad is almost always soggy and is evidenced by the big puddle of water at the bottom. I don't care for miso soup so I keep getting the salad hoping that it won't be soggy, but it always seems to be. Boo soggy salad. However, the main problem I have with Wasabi is the service. Whether it's eating inside or when I order for pick up, it always leaves more to be desired. Here's my usual phone conversation when I order to go: Hello, Wasabi. Me: Hi there. I'd like to place a to-go order. Ok. Me: I'd like the cashew nut with shrimp and a salad with ginger dressing, please. Ok. (Long pause) Me: Ok, thanks. Bye? Bare minimum conversation. I think it's the same girl all the time but truth be told, I've never really had amazing service there. And there are some days where she's a bit more friendly, but c'mon we're supposed to be the friendliest city in America. Step it up with the service, Wasabi. Oh, and the soggy salad.

Ate here as a party of four last night, one of the ladies in our party had recommended the place after having lunch so we gave it a try. We ordered: Rock shrimp appetizer - was not spicy or salty at all like you would expect from this sushi place menu regular Udon noodles with stir fry - noodles were soft, but sauce was oily 2 of us got the same roll - tuna and shrimp topped with shredded vegetables - flavorless and messy; hard to eat I also ordered a deep fried roll which was very wide across and hard to eat as well As someone new to Charleston, I would not eat here again when I see how many places are available to choose from. Overall - our food was not spicy or flavorful - two things I expect from Japanese, approx $40 w/tip, definitely not worth it

From the outside, Wasabi looks like a dump. The inside is modern and clean - the fish is fresh and well cut. I am glad I gave Wasabi Japanese Steak House a chance - is a good option for sushi in downtown Charleston.

I love Wasabi! Their sushi is some of the best in Charleston and their prices and service our unbeatable! They have 1/2 off sushi on Tuesday and Thursday nights which is awesome. They also have really great fried rice. My girlfriend and I try to make it here at least once a week for their sushi. Plus, our server Llana is so nice and always comes to find our table and take our order. She is a really great waitress and she always makes us feel welcome and just does an overall great job. Try the Buddha Belly Roll, you will not be disappointed. Best sushi restaurant around!

I don't get the negative reviews. To be honest, I was hesitant to give Wasabi a try after reading them. I'm from Seattle and I've had sushi in Japan, so I know what good sushi is. I'm glad I gave Wasabi a chance though! For a sushi place in Charleston, this place is pretty darn good. My husband and I went on a Thursday. Wasabi has a great half priced sushi menu, so we had 2 Shrimp Tempura Maki Rolls, a Super Crunch Roll, a California Maki, a Yum Yum Roll, a Spicy Tuna Roll and a Sushi Chefs Roll. They were all delicious, with the exception of the California Roll. It was really my fault for thinking it'd be good. My bad. Anyways, everything else was delicious and fresh, although I'd recommend asking them to make the rolls WITHOUT cream cheese. I'm sorry, but cream cheese has no place in sushi. Ever. The waitress was very friendly and had no problem with my request. Our total was $26 for all that sushi! Until we move out of Charleston, Wasabi will do just fine in curbing our sushi cravings.

We stopped in here because we were in the mood for sushi and had a 20% off coupon. Pretty much, previous reviews cover what you need to know about Wasabi. The sushi is okay, but not the best- keep in mind that Charleston is not know for their sushi! They have traditional and more modern rolls, a good variety. We ordered the Crab Wontons to begin with. They were okay- tasted more like a crab-flavored cream cheese inside a wonton. I wouldn't suggest ordering this- as I could not even identify any crab in the wontons. The sushi that we ordered was okay, too. The rolls weren't rolled very tight, though, and many were coming apart when I picked them up. Also, I didn't like how creamy the wasabi was with the sushi.

Had an assortment of about 6 different rolls with a co-worker one night and all of the rolls had soggy rice. The fish was decent but the rice and quality of rolls (weren't tightly rolled) were just ok.

Had dinner at Wasabi in downtown Charleston on 9/1/13. We had a table of 6 people. The restaurant wasn't that busy as we were seated immediately. We watched as multiple tables of similar size were seated around us. We waited. And waited. And waited some more. We also watched as other tables received similar service. The three waiters didn't have that many tables to service. As a member of food and bev, I realize that service may be a little slow when it's busy. This was not the case. It was obviously a slower night. I digress. An hour and a after we ordered we asked where our food was and our waiter says that our food has just came up. I pointed out the fact that there were at least 3 tables who came in after us who not only received their dinner, but cashed out and left the restaurant before we even got our food. The server was nice enough to auto gratuity our bill the "standard" 18% for a table of 6.

We decided to give Wasabi a second chance after a bad experience a couple months ago. The last time we went, the sushi wasn't fresh and the rest of our food tasted bland and generic. This time, we sat at the bar, where we waited 20 minutes for the bartender to return to take our order. He claimed there was an issue in the kitchen, so I guess it was just a coincidence that his eyes were suddenly bloodshot and he reeked of pot. We got up and left after hearing his bs excuse. Definitely won't be back again.

This is a great lunch place..you can't beat the Bento Box. So cheap and delicious!! Love the scam and crunch rolls too! Also, I really like one of the waiters here--I can't recall his name, but I was on a plane coming back to Charleston from Chicago and he happened to be sitting across the aisle from me coming back from Idaho and he actually recognized me...I was impressed because it was the early a.m. flight and I looked hideous. ..or maybe i always look like that...womp womp

Great sushi, they've just renovated and they've taken out all of the hibachi style grills for a much calmer atmosphere. They messed up my order and gave me a free roll so that was nice.

Horrible service. i ordered shrimp tempura, and they gave me 2 shrimps with three big pieces of vegetable tempura. Sushi was less than average. i dont recommend at all. There are better options in town.

Guessing this place is one of the "best in Charleston" because there's not a lot of sushi places in Charleston to choose from? Had three rolls - Philadelphia, Carolina, and California rolls. They were mediocre at best... the salmon was definitely not fresh. Not rancid, mind you, but would be better suited cooked, than served raw. (There's a reason they sell sushi-grade fish: because it's supposed to be better and fresher!) It honestly looked and tasted like the prepackaged sushi that you get in the grocery store. My friend had the Chicken & Fillet, and said it was "OK." She'd been there many times in the past, and said that the quality is not as good as it used to be. Is the food terrible? Nope. Service was fine - not bad, but not outstanding. Would I go back? Probably not... wasn't worth it. At about $25 a plate (not counting drinks) I expected a little something more. If I wanted low-end sushi, I could feast on a whole bunch from Harris Teeter for much cheaper.

Eh, I've had better. The chicken and shrimp tasted a little weird... Actually everything tasted a lil weird. Good value for your money for lunch, but mine was funky tasting :(

Sushi okay. Sesame Chicken is the worse I have ever had. My husband ordered the box, it was okay. Will not return.

I would give them 0 if I could. This is not a review about the food because I never got a chance to try it. I called to try to get takeout bento boxes. The first time I called, the man on the phone told me to call back because they were busy and weren't quite open yet. He could have taken my order and told me to pick up when they could get it ready, but he didn't. I excused him on the grounds that they weren't technically serving lunch yet. Anyways, I called back 30 minutes later right when they started lunch service and asked the woman on the phone what my options were for the bento box. She told me to just go online and look. Since I was in the car driving, I asked if she could just run down a list of things they had. She then proceeded to tell me that she was too busy to talk to me and if I couldn't get online, I was out of luck. Infuriated, I hung up the phone. If the front of house service is so bad that Wasabi can't even take my order, Im not even interested in bothering with the food. You shouldn't either.

Accidently went here for restaurant week for lunch. The Boy got the Oysters Tempura, Pad Thai, and chocolate cake. I got the Duck Lettuce Wrap, Omakese, and chocolate cake. Both the appetizers were good. (The Boy thought the oysters needed some salt and ended up using the sauce from my wrap on them.) I didn't like the Pad Thai, but the Boy enjoyed it. I definitely got my money's worth on my sushi plate. And the chocolate cake was supposed to be molten...but it wasn't. And neither one of us liked the lychee sorbet served on it. The service was embarrassing. There were only two tables and two servers. The server of the other table helped us more than our waitress did. All she did was run our food. I was given a glass with lipstick on it to begin with. And she pretty much laughed at me when I said I was allergic to salmon and ordered the sushi. Is it that much effort to type in "no salmon - allergy"? This place looks so good now that they redid it last fall. It's a shame they still fail in pretty much every other aspect.

We'll be back, been all over for sushi, and it's not AMAZING, but they're good overall! We had a few different rolls, dragon, and crunchy shrimp/crab, etc. Their fried calamari appetizer was served 'differently' but tasted good, not over fried into hard sticks, but still tender enough, though a bit too chewy. The sweet and spicy sauce with it was good. We did enjoy them, they were not the LARGE too ricey rolls, they were tasty. Had a good vibe and the snapdragon riesling was yum and well chilled. We ordered the Pad Thai, and it looked different, more red in colour, but my little girls devoured it, and I have to admit it had the best flavour I've tasted in Pad Thai in a while. We also had some Thai green/red curry, and it was flavourful and well presented. only problem must have been the steamed rice, which was served completely COLD? odd choice with warm entrees, but didn't detract too much from our experience. it was quiet for an EARLY 4:30 dinner on a saturday. The waitress was sweet, a college kid.

The Charleston City Paper gave this joint "best sushi in Charleston" the last three years, so my wife and I thought we'd give it a shot. I'm not a big sushi guy (tastes fine, just leaves me still hungry) so hopefully this will be of benefit to the guys. It was very, very good - my wife said it was the best sushi she's had. If you've been to Japan or lived on the West coast, shut up - I don't want to hear it ;) Plenty of choices and different tastes. Besides the obligatory raw fish, I had some sea anemone to polish it off. Pass on that one if you can. It tasted like nothing, with an aftertaste of stale sea water. Might try the quail egg next time so long as it's just yoke in there. Eww. Sit up at the counter so you can see what is going on w/ the prep. It was a nice change. Only thing that detracted from it was the mediocre service that treated us like we were more of a nuisance. Maybe she had a bad day... Guys putting the Sushi together were great, though. Location is right by the market, but it's off a side street. Wasn't crowded at all when I went there, but I here it gets hopping in the evenings. Trendy spot for the young professionals.
