Came here for a girls night out and was disappointed. We ordered a couple appetizers to share and the calamari was either chewy or too crispy, no in between. The seafood dip was ok, not very memorable except for the packaged crackers put all around it. And the scallops tasted fishy and were boarder-line under done. I won't be coming back here anytime soon.

A lot of money for the only average seafood buffet. Will not be returning anytime soon. Service was adequate but not outstanding.

It was amazing!!! Hush puppies were some of the best I've ever had. I had no idea a talipia sandwich could have so much flavor! I will definitely be coming back, especially sine the $5 appetizer offer is only good with 2 dinners and I was here for lunch. The lunch special is a great price and they have free wifi. The staff is very nice and I even saw them feed the eel- very cool!!

So much fun! My sister and I sat outside and have a wonderful dinner! It was well worth it. The drinks were amazing. Our server was awesome too. We will be going back for sure! (Love the salt water fish tanks too!)

Went here on a busy Saturday night as the Olive garden nearby had an hour wait. I had heard varied things about the restaurant but was pleasantly surprised. First of all, the server was AWESOME. Way to go Josh!!! We asked what he recommended and he said the "Pontchartrain" was really very good. Always ask the server, they will lead the way. So my friend and I ordered the salmon, Pontchartrain style and my daughter had the fish and chips from the kids menu. We were also very generously served a free appetizer as we used the coupon via Yelp. The calamari. YUM! The kids portion was pretty big and delicious. The calamari was great with the added kick of jalapeños. BUT the salmon was quite possibly the best salmon I have ever had. That could easily have been served downtown for twice the price. Amazing. Service was fabulous. Drinks were refilled. Manager came and checked on us, as did someone else. Place was clean. No nasty fish smell (surprisingly) I highly recommend and we can't wait to return.

We went here knowing full-well what to expect, so no real surprises. Atmosphere: Stereotypical seafood chain look to it- which isn't an insult. Large marlins hanging from the ceiling and stunning saltwater aquariums. Nicely done. Service: Our server was very enthusiastic, which was a surprise. Offered us a lot of help. Even tried to steer us away from our choice of entree, which was a noble cause. Kept trying to get us to come back in. No complaints. Food: We only have ourselves to blame for this, because our server really tried to convince us to stay away from the seafood sampler. When we ordered it he almost sounded disappointed. Haha. Fried food sounds great, but when you get it in such vast quantities you quickly regret the decision. He knew how we were going to respond and we should have too. Very average fried food. On par with Red Lobster. Free hush puppies were a bonus. Overall: We weren't blown away, but we weren't expecting to be. We will definitely be giving it another try and order what the waiter suggested next time.

First off, our server made our experience over the top. You don't see service like that very often, so it was very nice. I ordered the seafood au gratin so that I could compare it to the Noisy Oyster's. It was delicious! I truly can't decide which version I like better. The hush puppies were melt-in-your-mouth good and the sweet tea was excellent. We'll be back!

AYCE oysters a good value at $12, however be prepared for some mud as the clusters are not rinsed very well. Get there early as space at the shucking tables fill up fast. At first it seems like the new batches of clusters are coming at a slow pace, but after a while you realize it's just right. My only complaint is that I got charged for an extra beer, but didn't feel like disputing it.

My fiancee and I decided to try The Wreckfish because we received a postcard in the mail with a free fried green tomato appetizer. When we got there, I realized I had left the mailer at home. We explained this to the hostess who checked with the manager and they graciously honored the mailer without us actually having it. We were seated promptly at booth which were located in the middle of the floor rather than the wall, which didn't bother me, but was a little weird. As soon as we sat down, we quickly noticed that the decor looked identical the Guy Harvey that used to be in Mt. Pleasant. Later the GM confirmed that the owner purchased the entire lot of furniture from Guy Harvey's when they went out of business. Our waitress, Shiloh, came and took our drink and app. orders. I asked for a cocktail recommendation and she suggested the passionfruit mojito. My fiancee ordered a sweet tea. For apps, we ordered the fried green tomatoes and the crab cakes. The passionfruit mojito was excellent, hand muddled with fresh lime juice and mint. The sweet tea was fresh brewed, not from a mix. Shiloh took our main order. We asked for some recommendations again. She suggested Riptide plate, which I ordered. My fiancee ordered the Shrimp and Grits. While we were waiting for our food, the GM, Walt, stopped by our table to ask us how everything was going. We thanked him for honoring our absentee coupon mailer. We chatted out the restaurant for a bit. During the conversation the topic of the shrimp and grits came up and he told us that they used a beef base, rather than the traditional tasso ham base. Although we asked for the appetizers to come out before our entrees, everything came out at the same time. The fried green tomatoes were stacked 4 tall with a layer of pimiento cheese in between each layer. It also had a liberal dousing of chipotle aioli. I personally like the pimiento cheese with the tomatoes, but I think the aioli was a little overkill. The batter was nice and crispy, and not oily. It was like tempura batter. The crab cake was large and flat and came with the same chipotle aioli sauce as the fried green tomatoes. This app. was not my favorite. It was not very crispy and the kind of crab meat they use is not very "lumpy". It had a few nice chunks of crab meat, but it was pretty flat. It tasted ok, but I probably wouldn't get it again because I prefer more sizable crab meat chucks in my crab cakes. The menu said it came with two, but we only got one. We notified our waitress, and she checked with the kitchen. They gave us another crab cake, but the reason we only got one in the first place, was because they used to serve two smaller crab cakes, but now they just combine those two into one larger crab cake. They should probably update the menu or inform the wait staff to warn people that they are only going to get one. After the apps, we moved onto our entrees. Since the apps came out with our meals, they sat there for a bit. When we got to the Riptide plate, some of the food was starting to get a little cool, mostly because they used a plastic platter rather than a ceramic one. If they had used a plate that could have been pre warmed, I think the food would have stayed up to temp for longer. The Riptide was a collection of fried flounder, oysters, shrimp, and scallops, with fries and hushpuppies. This meal was pretty reminiscent of Hyman's downtown, but without the ridiculous wait or the cramped seating. I was basically decent quality fried seafood. They used the same crispy tempura-like batter as they did for the fried green tomatoes. The shrimp and grits were pretty good too. For shrimp and grits purists, this probably wouldn't make the grade with the use of beef stock gravy rather than the tasso gravy, but we liked it ok. I thought that the beef kind of overpowered the shrimp a little bit, so I probably wouldn't get it again, but some might like this take on it. My only complaint is that the menu says tasso gravy, but this isn't true. I'm glad the GM told us before we tried it was it was made with because I probably would have thought there was something wrong with it otherwise. My favorite shrimp and grits in the Lowcountry is found at Boulevard Diner. Although we were pretty full, we got some desserts to go. I have to say, although I enjoyed our meal, I think the desserts were the best. The Wreckfish is owned by the restaurant group that owns the downtown bakery Whisk, Market Street Saloon, and others. I've never been to Whisk, but based on the desserts we got at The Wreckfish, it must be awesome. We got the special of the night, the Mocha Cake, and also the key lime pie, which is my favorite. The mocha cake was generous portion of mocha ganache in between three layers of white cake, served with a carmel sauce. The key lime was definitely homemade. We are both fans, and will definitely go back!

So to start off I would NOT recommended anyone here. The service was horrible. We went with our little family and was excited to try this restaurant. Up front everyone was nice but our waitress didn't seem to care what we wanted. She rushed us then took forever to get our food. In between the manager had to refill our drinks then she got busy and we had to flag people down. When our food finally came it was the last we seen of our waitress. Our table was piled up and we had no where to put things. So i started cleaning my table then she came by with the check. Our bill was 80 so i paid 85. Even though service was horrible i planned on tipping still. Well i never had the chance because she grabbed the money from my fiance and NEVER BROUGHT THE MONEY BACK! After that i considered that her tip and just left. I was furious. I will never go back there

Last night some of our family members had dinner at Wreckfish, I didn't know anything about the place but I am glad we went. The atmosphere was great, it was just what we were looking for, a relaxed, layed back easy going kind of place. We were able to talk and eat and enjoy each others company. Our server's name was Julia and she was on the ball, filling drinks and hush puppies, just making sure we had everything we needed and she was very sweet and personable. The food was excellent even though I am not a seafood lover they have other options and I had the steak with creamy mushroom sauce over mashed potatoes. Omg! It was so good, the steak was so tender and juicy and the potatoes and sauce were so tasty. You just have to go to Wreckfish by Northwood Mall you won't regret it!!

Rather pleasant, rustic atmosphere and extremely pleasant service. HOWEVER king crab clusters were poorly defrosted and overcooked. This left the legs tasteless and the meet sticking to the soggy, soft shell. Fried oysters were horrendous: tiny and full of terribly greasy dough. This mess didn't taste much like oysters. Steer clear from this place.

Been here a few times for dinner and will keep coming back. There were free hush puppies every time I've dine here. I would usually not think to try them otherwise. They are delicious. I usually get the blackened salmon plate. The salmon is cooked and seasoned perfectly. I love salmon and this doesn't disappoint. It's a good dinner for $15. Every time I come here, I receive great customer service which seems rare in the Charleston area. They were very prompt, friendly and attentive. The first time I came here, I was shaking pepper onto my salmon and the whole pepper jar poured onto my plate. I was shocked that I was on the unlucky end of someone's cruel joke but I laughed it off. I was just going to brush it off and continue eating. The server was nearby when it happened and INSISTED that he would get a new order of fish for me. The new fish came out fast and the manager even came by to apologize and comp the meal. I was surprised by their service. I will be back to try the all-you-can-eat peel and eat shrimp on Thursdays.

Made our first visit to The Wreckfish last night. Was quite good! Service was excellent and enthusiastic. I had the blackened shrimp on mashed potatoes in a mushroom sauce. Very good. Also had a salad, and here's my only (minor) complaint: don't serve a cold salad in a warm dish. That's a no-no. Chilled salad plates are always impressive. Still, we'll be back :)

Really wanted to like this place since it was close to home. Nice atmosphere, very open. Wife and I were seated in the back booth with a view of the deck with a pond. Problem was we were bombarded by flies entering the restaurant from the door that leads to the deck. Not sure if patrons are allowed to smoke indoors. Seems every ten seconds people were either going in or out to smoke. Had the chilled shrimp and crab dip for appetizers. Shrimp was good, the crab dip not so good. Bland, no lumps of crab. Had better from Publix. Wife had the blackened grouper, scallops and fried oysters, with green beans and cole slaw. I had the grilled flounder, green bean and red rice. Dinner was below average. Not what we expected for the price. Fish was disappointing. I was expecting a nice piece of flounder, yet I received three little thin pieces that reminded me of frozen fish I could buy in a bag from Walmart. It was thin, flavorless and not grilled. More like they slapped it in a pan, and cooked with the green beans because everything tasted the same. Wife took two bites and she had enough. Her blackened fish was not even close to being blackened. And her green beans tasted like the fish. No refill on the drinks, except when were ready for the check she asked me if I wanted a refill to go. She did ask if we wanted a box to take the food home and we politely declined. We barely touched our food, curious why she didn't ask if we enjoyed our food.. Maybe this happens all the time?

Visited for the first time after learning of the Acoustic Sunset event with the oyster roast on Friday nights. The entertainment was excellent. I did partake of the oysters, they were ample, tasty, and not too muddy to shuck. Called those my "appetizer" and then ordered the Seafood Sampler platter. What a huge amount of food. Priced at about $19 at the Wreckfish, the same platter would have cost $35 in Murrells Inlet. I definitely will be back. Great food, atmosphere and good value for the $$

Nice atmosphere, but the food was just okay. For the price, it's worth driving a little further to go downtown and have the higher quality food.

It was a bittersweet dinner. After asking if the salad dressing was homemade and the server looked at me a laughed, I realized that this was a very large chain and it was probably safe to assume that my seafood was nowhere close to be local. My Grandparents would have loved this place. A huge mound of fried seafood came out for my lovely lady friend and I had the pan seared Wreckfish. The portions were huge! the prices a little on the high side. It's comparable to the Noisy Oyster in terms of food. The staff was friendly and I was quite surprised to see the Manager come by and ask how we were. On Monday's they have all you can eat crab legs. That might make me return. On second thought, for the $50 bucks it would cost for the two of us, I may just get crab legs at Costco and cook them myself....

My husband and I tried this place for the first time because we had a Groupon. The service was great. Everyone was very friendly and timely. The free hush puppies and cinnamon butter were delicious. He had a shrimp po'boy and mac 'n cheese and was very pleased. I had a side salad, crinkle fries, and fish tacos. All was great, and the tacos had plenty of grilled fish. For dessert we had the coconut cake. It was a little dry and too sweet for us. We would probably try something else next time. Overall, we were pleasantly surprised considering all the negativity we read prior to our experience there. We would go back again if we were in the area.

The service was great. The crab bisque was very good. The crab dip was delicious and plentiful. The crab cakes were moist and flavorful. We will be back.

Mediocre. The titular dish (the wreckfish platter) was dry and not all that flavorful. The place was mostly empty and I see why.

Place is way over priced. Food is just average. When I'm paying someone for food I like to get better than average. I can do average at McDonalds.

If you like Pina Coladas... No, seriously! Wreckfish had the best pina coladas I've ever had in my life. None of that over-sweetened, Dum-dum sucker flavor here, these were just perfect. Also got some fantastic scallops (cooked and seasoned to perfection) and my husband got a flounder he said was really good as well. Service was really friendlly

I was pleasantly surprised. At 7pm on a Saturday night I thought the parking lot would be packed and was a little concerned when it wasn't, but don't judge a book... food was excellent, service was great and fast. Good times!

This restaurant was horrible, the service was horrible and the food mediocre at best. The seafood chips did not come with the crab as listed on the menu and we waited 45 min for dinner. This was my first and last time at this restaurant.

Really nice family seafood place to eat. We wouldn't have tried it if it wasn't restaurant week. Good family choice and a real asset to the north area. Disappointed they didn't have wreckfish as a CRW option.

Absolutely wonderful service and attention from all especially Julia (Dallas, Tx). Her recommendations of what to eat were on point. The freshest seafood, the homemade Mac n cheese was like mommas, the she crab soup was amazing. The red velvet sounded delectable but they sold out before I got my serving :( We will be back when visiting Charleston.

We went to Wreckfish on a Friday night around 7:30. The half-empty parking lot should have been our first clue to keep driving. The sad, half-empty buffet should have been our second clue. The appearance of our under-enthusiastic server should have been our third. And, the menu really should have sent us packing. But, we were tired and hungry... Warm fried seafood and mushy vegetables, paired with congealed salad dressings made for a gastric nightmare. Just imagine fried seafood that's been put into hot, covered chafing dishes that build up steam and totally obliterate the crunch. The peel and eat shrimp and oysters on the half shell were good. Other reviewers mentioned hush puppies but they must have been out last night. At $25 per plate, we definitely felt ripped off. We were glad we didn't spring for the $40 buffet with crab legs. People seated nearby were grumbling about having to wait for the crab legs to be replenished. We weren't expecting a five star dining experience, but we were fairly disappointed. The server even apologized for the automatic 18% gratuity as he handed us the check. He also suggested we fill out the comment card to complain about the food. Keep driving past Wreckfish. You'll thank me later.

I guess I shouldn't even write a review b/c we didn't end up eating here. We went and the place smelled so fishy, we barely walked in the door. So obvious not much was fresh here. The short time we waited to talk with a hostess was filled with unprofessionalism - hostess was arguing with a customer, what appeared to be a manager didn't seem to have any idea what to do with people. We didn't realize it was mostly a buffet, I'm not really a buffet type person, but I took a walk past to see what it looked like. It looked like many cheap buffet's - overcooked, dry fish, many empty containers, tiny shrimp. When I got back to the desk, the hostess was still arguing with a customer and no one had helped a single other person waiting. I couldn't get out of there quick enough.
