This low country restaurant was an awesome find for this northerner! Had fresh soft shell crab with all the fixings- it was awesome. Had a great chat with the owner/head chef...and our waitress was so friendly. Don't let the area scare you away....food is great!

My wife ate at the Mason Jar last week. So was so impressed she brought the menu home in an attempt too lure me into the joint. As a seasoned traveller, and snobby foodie. It takes much more than a plain paper menu to get me in the door. First the location, it in an old office park off Highway 61. It is not pretty, its like the original Sesame Burgers way back when. Off the beaten path and so on. While out running errands, I was requested to join my wife for dinner at the Mason Jar. The prices on the menu were cheap, so I though, "What the heck?" I can suffer through a marginal meat and three meal if it helps me score brownie points. We started with fried pickles. I have determined that many people can co okay fried pickles, but many can not do it right. The breading needs to be light, the sauce complimenting the sour pickle, and it should be hot, but not too hot. Bingo We ate the entire order, and saved the dipping source for the french fires that came as a side to on of the orders. I got chicken fried steak, lima beans and corn bread. Brown gravy on a tender, not overcooked fired steak. with just a hint of spice in the light breading. Additionally there was fried onion caramelized on the surface of the deep fried stack, that was as sweet as candy. I actually ate the lima bean first. Completely. I would have licked the plate. They were fresh, cooked with bacon, and the liquor had a buttery, salt and smoke flavor that we could build a nice drink around. The fries were fresh, not too hot, crisp, and just right for dipping in the fried pickle sauce or Heinz Catsup. They appeared to be double fried, lightly to avoid burning, but maintain the flavor and integrity through out the meal. We ate all of them also. After raving about the sauce, the waitress included a small portion of the dipping sauce on each of our plates, just in case.. MJ got the fish a chips. The fish was lightly breaded, not over cooked, tender and flavorful. I think it was flounder. With the homemade tartar and cocktails sauce, it was sublime. The corn bread has a little jalepeno pepper, just adding an ever-so-slight flavor, not heat, to the corn bread which complemented the sweetness of the bread very well. We each drank water, so I can't comment on the sweet tea, but other customers refilled multiple times on it, so I must be good. For dessert we opted for a homemade chocolate brownie. It was perfect, not to fudgey, and not to cake-like. The brownie had added to it a nice citrus flavor, orange-like, or lemon. I could not quite make it out. It was very good. Service was perfect, with the dinner arriving quickly, our water glasses top regularly and the the suggestions were spot on. The owner and chef, Charles, came out and checked on everyone, explaining his local "fresh as possible" sourcing and selection. for meals and sides. My recommendation, make the drive out 61 to enjoy some great comfort food, in a comfortable friendly atmosphere. It's just like visiting your favorite uncle's house for some good home cooking.

Best Fried Pickles! Overall good down home choices at affordable prices. Each of our 3 meals were yummy, onion rings and fried squash were excellent. The batter is light and they know how to do it! Very personable staff too.

Food was ridiculous! Best collards and fried okra. I went for the cheese burger and it did not disappoint. I liked how the chef personally takes the food to the tables. Nice family place and good good. Can't wait to try breakfast.

Not sure if I ate in the same place as other reviewers. My shrimp po boy was a no star. About 8 {60 to the pound size] hard overcooked shrimp. These are better used for fishing bait. Very large portion of grease onion rings. Wife had a burger that was just OK. Waitress was good. Female cashier asked how was everything. I said po boy was awful. Her reply was well everyone likes it. DUHHH

Crab cakes were AH-MAY-ZING!!! BBQ did not disappoint either! The three sauces (SC, Eastern NC, and Red) were all delicious. Do not let it's location deter you!! This is a hidden gem. Prices are great too! My husband and I had lunch for less than $20!

Hardly any seafood. Mostly meat products and fried stuff. I had the fried green tomatoes, fried pickles and a salad. Just ok. Sad they didn't have any fried oysters or anything of the sort.

Went for lunch today and the bbq was excellent and the choice tenders were the best we have found in the area. The staff was extremely friendly and the chef came out and had a long chat with us about his style of meals. All in all a very good experience and we are looking forward to trying the catfish stew next Friday night.

The wife and I stopped here after our trip to the Magnolia Plantation. It is a bit hidden from the road, but well worth finding. I had the BBQ plate which came with pulled pork, 2 sides, and cornbread or hushpuppies. I had fried squash and collard greens my sides. And I chose the hushpuppies instead of the corn bread. The hush puppies were delicious! They had corn and jalapeño in them. The pulled pork was moist and flavorful. They have a red bbq sauce and a mustard bbq sauce. I enjoyed the mustard sauce the most. Not too vinegary or too sweet. The wife had the shrimp po boy with fried squash as her side. We both enjoyed the squash. It had a light and crunchy batter. She said the shrimp was delicious and didn't have too much battering either. The wait staff was very friendly and quick. One of the owners (I assume) stopped by and asked how things were and thanked us for coming.

Went here for lunch and I would absolutely go back again and again. Pork rinds and pimiento cheese? Hell yes! The food was great, portion size was big, and the decor was super cute. Don't let the exterior fool you, it may be in an odd spot, but inside is some amazing Southern food even the foodiest foodie would love!

Ordered a shrimp po-boy. Got 4 pieces of shrimp on a hot dog bun. Yikes!! Not good! Maybe change the name to shrimp dog and charge half the price. Then at least you know what you are getting.

I had the hog dog, and tried the country fried steak. they were both delicious. The hog dog has a generous serving of pulled pork and bacon in the bun. I got hush puppies on the side and they were fantastic. Service was great and the food came out fast.

I'm usually critical of restaurants, but The Mason Jar has nothing to criticize. It's a typical Lowcountry family restaurant, but with some of the best food you'll ever taste, We had the crab dip which is fantastic. Also had huge fried oysters with onion rings and fried Zucchini and excellent hushpuppies. My wife had crab cakes with potato salad. It's rare when you can EVERY item on the plate was great. We're already looking forward to returning.

It was my first time in South Carolina and this was the first place I ate, and it was the meal I enjoyed most in my entire stay (and I ate at some very high-end restaurants). We found this place on Yelp and went mainly because it was not too far from the airport. Such a great decision! The fried green tomatoes, fried shrimp, butter beans, and collard greens were all delicious, some of the best I've had. Portions were huge and the food was excellent overall. And the carrot cake for dessert was by far the best I've ever had, and only $3. Because the restaurant was mostly empty during our early dinner we got to talk at length with the chef/owner who gave us a great introduction to the area and to his cooking. It was the perfect start for our stay in the "lowcountry."

Contrary to previous posts they do not serve oysters! Disappointing since that was the main reason we stopped. Menu is more soul food than low country or seafood. That said, the food was made from scratch and very good. Had fried okra that was made from fresh okra. Excellent but small portion for $8. Even though food was good I had a hard time getting past the poor presentation. Food served on old tan divided plastic plates. Very unattractive and sadly detracted from the dining experience.

Great authentic low country food. Our pulled pork was tasty and well cooked. My son's chicken fried steak was delish and the sides were yummy. Would go back again for sure.

Once again, yelp helped me find a pleasant surprise while out of town and exploring a new area. This place is nestled on the side of a small shopping center, don't let the looks throw you off. Everyone is friendly and the food is exactly what comfort southern food should be. Did I mention they sell beer? Southern grilled cheese with bacon, onion and fried green tomato-this was very good and very filling. I could only eat half of it. it was nice and crispy with the right flavors mixed in. I had a casserole as a side which was pimento and cheese with corn, bacon, green beans and topped with Ritz crackers. This was the oddest casserole I have ever tried. It was a bit too creamy for me but it really did not taste bad at all. The corn added the right crispy texture to the baked buttery ingredients. Cornbread -this was not my favorite. It was dry and it tasted rather bland. I'll opt for a different side next time. Sweet tea is amazing here. It tastes like real sweet tea and not the fake stuff other places try to sell you. It was not too sweet and hit the spot. Fried shrimp with onion rings fried zucchini /squash - this is real real fried , like mom makes. You can see where they had real chunks of fried veggies that they hand battered and fried. They shrimp tasted fresh and battered to perfection. All of their sauces are made in house like the cocktail and the tartar sauce. They taste nice and rich and never watered down. My favorite thing to do is mix both sauces. The beer selection is rather small and basic (Bud's, etc.) but I didn't come to get drunk, I came to gain weight and enter a happy food coma. For dessert I tried their homemade Hawaiian Carrot Cake. It was very rich and creamy. You can sure tell they made the icing and cake at home. Overall this place has a small town feel yet the decor can be tacky but again, that's not why I came. I was treated with so much sweetness and friendliness by the wait staff and even the cook who came out to see if we liked our meal. The prices are VERY affordable and that's highly appreciated when most places try to give you small quantities and mediocre dishes. If you have a chance, do not miss out on trying this delicious southern yet charming establishment. They have something special going on in here and it won't be long before folks continue to spread the word. It was empty when we stopped by Saturday for late lunch, that won't be the case for long. Trust me.

You seat yourself and pay up front at the register- FYI If you have a large party please call before hand the restaurant is small. Ordered fish and chips - I wish the fish had more flavor but nothing some hot sauce and ketchup can't cure. Waitress was very welcoming overall the atmosphere is very positive.

We stopped by while running errands in West Ashley and stopped by due to the Yelp reviews. That strip mall has been there forever and, as other reviewers mentioned, it's not much to look at on the outside. But in my experience, for excellent Southern food, that's usually a good sign. The staff was friendly and the food was delicious. Some of the best fried okra I've ever had. Hubby had a fried pork chop, collards, and fried zucchini & squash. We both had a biscuit which was also really good. Awesome little find and definitely 5 star for when you're looking for a solid Southern "home cooked" meal.

This is nothing fancy...omg... This was delicious.!!!!!! Food is all home cooked!!! People are great. I am a food snob.. This place rocked! The buffet is excellent! The fatboy burger is reeeaallllly yummy! We will be back!

Stopped here on the way to Magnolia Plantation. Nice alternative to regular fast food. Even though it was mostly fried , it was all really good - flying flounder, fish sandwich, collard greens and fried squash. And the sweet tea was awesome!! Cook even shared his collard greens recipe (apple cider vinegar and brown sugar). Waitress was very nice and gave me tea to go!

  • Gypsy F.

The one star is for the decor and staff... They were good. As for the review: I am completely perplexed as to why this restaurant is so highly rated! I ordered an omelet and grits and it was LITERALLY completely tasteless. As in, no distinguishable flavor or spice in ANY of it. It didn't even taste like they salted it. The grits tasted like watery cornstarch nothing, with flecks of pepper. I was so completely disappointed, especially for the price point. I ate three bites and couldn't stomach the rest and went elsewhere. I will not be returning.

Thank goodness that on the way to eat Mexican there was an epic traffic jam on Magwood that FORCED us to eat traditional southern fare at The Mason Jar. I ride by here everyday and am glad I finally made it. Don't eat here if you are all about atmosphere. It is very clean inside, and there are four nice big comfy booths. However, the tablecloths came from your grandma's closet, and their catering equipment is shoved in the back wall. We started with the fried okra app which pleased me as a starter because it was very very lightly breaded, not coated and dipped like traditional fried souther food. The dipping sauce was spicy and broke up the blandness that sometimes sits on a fried palate. Go ahead and laugh, but my husband and I both got grilled cheese variations...grilled to perfection. A little disappointed with the side options, not varied, but it probably depends on the day you go. I was devastated there were no Mac and cheese options on the permanent menu. Now for the reason that I will definitely be back...the brownies. Thick, rich, creamy, and fudgy, but the kicker was what I think is chili pepper. It made the traditional fatty brownie se lighter, edgier, and less boring of a dessert choice than other brownies the size of your face. If I gain 10 lbs I'll blame this place, and I don't expect them to apologize. 5 star dessert = loyal customers for life!!

Pork skins were crispy and fresh Could have used a little more salt, which we added We both had the Special, Fried Pork Chop with 2 sides I loved the greens, full of flavor, fried zucchini and squash was fresh and tasty and the pork chop was huge and perfectly cooked with a ton of crispy breading. I would have liked a little more flavor, but overall a Definite

Great local place. We found this place via Yelp since we wanted to try some place new the other night. It was really difficult to find even using Google Maps as it directed us about 100 yards shy of the restaurant because of the way the restaurant doesn't front the street directly. It also didn't help that their sign wasn't lit. The food and atmosphere were terrific. I got the pulled bbq with sides of collards and cole slaw while my dad got the hogdog (hotdog that includes pulled bbq) and a daily special side of fried squash and zucchini. We also got dessert (a type of bunt cake as well as a cookie/brownie/pie like dessert). The waitress was very friendly and helpful as well.

Great place to stop for lunch if your car is getting serviced at Jiffy Lube right next door. I was done eating before my oil change was completed! Love being efficient. My husband ordered a chili cheese dog and I ordered the fried pork chop. My pork chop was thin, breaded to the max, and a tad dry. My husband hot dog was really good. I did like the fact that one of the owners and also the chef personally stopped by our table to make sure everything was okay. I didn't want to be 'that girl' and complain about my pork chop. Plus, I was starving and ate the whole thing.

Excellent lunch! This was our first time here. We arrived at noon and there was one family already seated, otherwise the place was empty. That usually makes me nervous. We were greeted and told to sit anywhere and given a chalkboard with the daily specials. I ordered the BBQ platter and two of the daily sides; collards and rice with gravy. The waitress offered a choice of cornbread or hush puppies-I chose the latter. The BBQ was juicy, had a lightly smoky flavor, and with their house pepper vinegar sauce was super tasty. In my opinion, sugar belongs in cakes-never greens. I couldn't even eat the collards for the sugar, but my husband liked them a lot. I'm also not a fan of par boiled rice, but with the brown gravy it was easily overlooked. This is real gravy, made from pan drippings! It was the perfect consistency, smooth, and velvety on the palate. I recommend the hush puppies over the cornbread (my husband ordered). Two round delights with bits of peppers and corn-yummy. My hubby got the special country fried steak, red skinned mashed potatoes and gravy, and the special fried zucchini and squash. Those were amazing. Lightly fried and seasoned with salt and pepper. He didn't really offer anything else and ate it all, so it must have been good. We ordered pork rinds for an appetizer and the order was HUGE! The waitress suggested trying them with either of their BBQ sauces-I prefer hot sauce-but the mustard sauce on them was jam up. Everything came out quickly and piping hot! We took a slice of "Lemon pudding pound cake" to go. We are just too full to eat it right now. The bill was less than $30 with the app and the dessert and drinks! I'll definitely go back.

Decided to try it out on a whim as I am only visiting the area. Waitress is super friendly, food was served quickly. The fried okra was amazing not over done and not soggy. The pulled pork was great and one of the best country fried steaks I've ever had. If your from the south, this place will feel like home, from the food to the country music playing in the background this was the taste of home I was looking for. Thank you!

Just moved down from NC, but I'm a Charleston regular. Tried this for my lunch break and will be back again w my family. Ordered the shrimp po boy, and it was fried fresh per order. You actually felt like you were eating shrimp and not batter. Fries were awesome too. This is not where you go to save on calories. This is where you go to get great low country food that'll leave you wanting more. Thanks Fatboys!

Out of towners in the area for a beach vacation and we were looking for a seafood buffet (found them on YELP) that also had non seafood items on the menu (one person in our party has an allergy), so the regular down home menu here delivered. The owner/chef takes pride in his restaurant and creations. Not only can you tell by the taste but he likes to come out and talk with customers. A real great guy! All the seafood is cooked/fried to perfection and very fresh. We definitely ate our fill! As for the home cooking... That was fantastic too. He puts a spin on the traditional southern style that takes it to the next level. Don't miss the fried squash or zucchini and the collard greens! Staff is friendly, caring and attentive. Facility is small, but very clean, cute decorations and well kept. To be honest the only downfall was dessert. You can tell that not as much thought care or creativity is put into those. A shame after such a great dinner, but we saw his passion in the main fare!

We hit up The Mason Jar by Fatboys early this evening for dinner. We were the only ones in there to start. Cute decor, laid back environment, tvs, booths, and tables. We started with the Bacon Cheddar Ranch Fries, they are skinnier fries (not the big thick cut fries) which we prefer, the bacon was smokey (like bbq, in a good way). The husband really liked these. I was a little nervous because one of the reviews I read previously was fairly negative, but ours were hot, gooey, smokey goodness. I then ordered the Fatboy Burger (hamburger patty, fried green tomato, bacon, and pimento cheese). I don't think "hamburger patty" really does it justice. This is a good sized burger and mine was well spiced and juicy. The cook/chef/maybe one of the owners (?) came out and asked how it was, specifically checking on the temperature, and then commented how he doesn't like to make them too well done. I'm glad he cares about his work and my burger was probably done at about medium-well so if you want something other than that you should probably say so when ordering (they don't ask). Everything on the burger was solid. I ordered the side of fried zucchini and it also was really good. Simple, well seasoned goodness. The hubs got the shrimp po boy with potato salad. He said the sauce had really good flavor, but he would put a little more on, as it got lost in the bun. The shrimp was well done. Overall very positive! The potato salad was good but not phenomenal, in the hubs opinion, but he prefers mustard based instead of mayo, so maybe a note to keep in mind if you share those preferences. We both got a dessert to go, I got the eclair pie, which was solid, I wish the pieces were a little bigger, but it was very good. The hubs got the yellow cake with chocolate pecan frosting. He said it was a little dry, just okay. Overall this is a place I would go back to for easy southern food In a relaxed environment. The service was also friendly and helpful with recommendations and kept us filled on ice tea and water. Also, although their location is in a strip mall, the inside is cute, and there is plenty of parking.

After a hectic day doing touristy things in Downtown Charleston, this restaurant was a wonderful respite for my fiancee and I. I found it because of Yelp, saw the numerous high reviews, and loved the name! I had grilled pork chops, collard greens, and potato salad, with an order of fried okra to start. Everything was delicious, filling, and very flavorful! Dynamite sweet tea as well. This place is basically located in a strip mall, and you likely won't be wowed by the ambience, but the staff was incredibly friendly, conversational, and even gave me an extra pork chop for free! You can tell they love being a part of this place. If you're powerful hungry and in need of southern hospitality, drop on by!

Ate here during a vacation in the spring, and can't say enough good things about the crab cakes. OMG the crab cakes!!! Family operation, hidden in a tiny strip mall, with retro décor (check out all the different salt & pepper shakers). Ordered a delicious-looking chef's salad (the size of my garage) that I didn't even have room for after the crab cake appetizer. The onion rings are killer too. Great place!!

This is cute little spot. I ventured in solo. The waitress was really nice. I like that they have a small TV because there was a game I wanted to watch on. The tea was served in a mason jar as expected, I loved that, very southern. I had the fried country steak which was awesome! The potato salad was good and my rice & gravy was delicious. The only thing I could live with were the hushpuppies, I've tried many different hushpuppies in my last couple years down south & these weren't impressive. Besides that everything else was great! I would deff stop by again if I went back down to Charleston.

Sometimes the best food is in the most out of the way places. This is one of those places... In an industrial strip mall. I don't ever talk about specific foods in my reviews because my thinking is that if my review is bad, then the food is by default bad, but if my review is great, then any food that you try will be great. This is good stick to your ribs food. Great taste, and plenty of it. Price is excellent, and you get a lot for it. Bring the family, sit and stuff yourself. Service is friendly with smiles. It's all good! Who says you have to go broke on good food? Try this place, you will take a menu home to show others. Frank G

Food was actually pretty solid. Unfortunately, we inconvenienced our waitress with our presence. Apparently, someone called out sick and she had the floor to herself. Well she made it clear to all of her customers she was busy and we were lucky to even get our order in. Very sad service that unfortunately soured us to mason jar. No way I would recommend to a friend with that kind of service.

This was the first time I came here and had the seafood buffet. It was very good. The cook brought fresh flounder right from the kitchen to our table. They had flounder and shrimp (both fried). Cornbread was dry but hush puppies were amazing!!!! Wish they had a salad bar but they did have slaw which was also tasty!

Waaaay over-rated. I was staying with a friend in West Ashley and this place came up as nearby and had great reviews. Saw that it was in a strip mall / industrial complex and that didn't bother me. Soul food often comes from dives and roadside BBQ shacks. This place was clean, but we were only the second table in about 10 in total. Fried green tomatoes were bland/unseasoned and very greasy. Fried okra portion was HUGE, less greasy, but still had zero flavor. Both apps were served with 'roumalade' that was really just horseradish and Russian dressing. Pork BBQ was average and pretty dried out. They had 3 sauces: vinegar, spicy, and a sweet yellow. They were all very good. Shrimp po-boy was oK. Hush puppies were good. Greens were smokey and sweet. Sweet tea was OK. OK just sums this place up.

There isn't much to the exterior, and it isn't large on the inside, but this place had the best restaurant meal I've had in some time. Our party of four had rave reviews and we each had something different. The drinks were served in mason jars which was different. The service was also wonderful and the chef asked us about our meal. Anyone who doesn't put this place on their to do for restaurants is doing themselves a disservice.

Swung by for the BBQ Buffet, food was really great, service was equally as impressive. Really blown away, the real estate value of my house should be worth more seeing that I am near the Mason Jar.

The Mason Jar lives up to the high rating - excellent local-owned lowcountry-style diner. I was visiting the area for work and scored a great comfort-food lunch of chicken fried steak w brown gravy, fried zukes, collards, and hush puppies. Oh - and freshly fried pork rinds - wow. Super friendly and attentive service - good prices - neat and clean place - what more could you want? Definitely worth a visit if you are in the area. Oh - and the name? Fatboys was the owner's catering and lunch wagon business that grew to become the restaurant.

I was really looking forward to trying this place out, mainly because of the rave reviews EVERYWHERE! Plus the food pics looked yummy so I was excited when I finally got a chance to go last week. Two friends and I went. First off, it was FREEZING inside. Either they don't turn the heat on, or it was broken, or just so poorly insulated, it doesn't get warm. It was "wear your gloves" chilly inside which made the entire experience kinda sucky. The decor soooooo cute!!!!!! Love, love, love it. From the bathroom decor to the dining area decor, all very, very cute. First we ordered an appetizer of the fries with ranch dressing, cheese and bacon. I would have tried something different but one in our party was a tad picky. We figured how can you go wrong with those kind of fries! Well... they didn't come out piping hot (even though we were the second customers there, the first being a single man), and flavor wise they were average at best. Just a few weeks prior, I'd had Kickin Chicken's version of these fries and those were better. Disappointing! One person ordered the chili cheese dog with coleslaw, and my other lunch mate ordered the flounder po boy with onion rings. We were hoping to try the fried chicken but we would have had to wait 25 minutes for it to cook!! Not an ideal lunch item. I ordered the fat boy burger with butter beans. My friend said the hot dog and slaw were ok. My other friend raved several times over the onion rings but the flounder po boy was just ok as well. I didn't even finish my butter beans because even after adding salt (more than once!) they just weren't tasty. Now the burger?!?! AH-MAZING!!!! SOoooooOOOOoooo good. The cook seasoned up that patty right. It could have been just the meat and bread and it would have been good. YUM! Had that been the end of my story, I would have given 3 stars because the burger seriously was 5 stars, mouth watering delicious in my opinion. The problem was, on the way out, my stomach started cramping. I'm not going into details, and let me just say that this does NOT happen to me (I don't have a weak stomach) but I was in pain and had to use the restroom shortly after returning to work. So my one super positive thing of this experience, the burger, kinda came back to kick me in the gut in a very bad way. :( One last thing... I did get a brownie to go, made with blood orange oil if I remember correctly. Pretty massive, smelled delicious, and when we ate it, my daughter and I both really enjoyed it. I'm sad this experience was such a fail, but I can't say I won't return to give it another shot. Maybe on Thursday evening for their buffet??

This place it's just awful! I ordered the chili cheese dog, which is literally a hotdog with ground beef and shredded cheese on top. I took one bite and I couldn't eat it anymore. I sent it back, and the waitress said it would be taken off my tab. Then a lady, who I assume is the manager there, came over and rudely asked me why I didn't like it. After telling her she stormed off. The waitress was very nice tough. After my meal I went to pay for it, and I was informed that I would only get a discount instead of it being taken off completely. Seriously?! I took one bite! I will never go back to this place. Don't waste your money.

Hands down this is the best restaurant I've ever been to! I've tried almost everything on the menu and I love every single thing. The staff is amazing. So helpful and and nice and knowledgeable of the menu. The decor is very pleasant to look at and it looks like a lot of hard work was put into making this place outstanding! The girl who took my order I think it the manager/ owner is so friendly. She treats everyone like family when they come in and always remembers people and what they like to drink/ eat! I love a place that has different specials and not just the same menu everyday. I also learned that the food is local. The meat is fresh and not frozen! A local business that uses local food is the way to go. If you want the same boring meal and robot staff go to a Olive Garden but if you want a down home country feel and a place that welcomes you with open arms and always has something new to try then go to the mason jar!!

This place is a southern gem! The real deal! Home southern meal at its finest. The fried chicken and macaroni and cheese are simply amazing!

True southern, mom&pop store. The prices were very reasonable, and the restaurant itself is very casual and inviting. My favorite there is the country fried steak and mashed potatoes (gotta get it with gravy!). Been here a few times, and have loved every visit! I can't wait to try different things on their menu. So glad this place opened up, and I hope they're here to stay!

Finally tried this place out, I've heard good things. It did not disappoint! It's a small place kind of tucked away with an old school Southern cafe feel. The staff was extremely friendly and attentive. I asked when they would have beer and wine and was told it would be within the next few weeks. We had the fried green tomato appetizer which tasted like my grandmother made it. One friend got the BLT but substituted a fried green tomato in it and she said it was really good. Another friend got the pick 3 seafood platter (crab cake, shrimp, flounder with 2 sides) - I tasted a little of everything and it was all cooked perfectly. I got the fatboy burger (burger with bacon, pimento cheese and friend green tomato) with fries - delicious! On the way out I bought a homemade brownie and my friend got a piece of their Mississippi mud pie to go. This is such a great little place with delicious Southern cooking!

I pass by this place daily and have always wanted to stop. Finally did this past weekend when my mom& sister were in town visiting. It's definitely a hidden gem. Decor is cute, staff attentive & friendly, great comfort food, chef who cares & checks with customers about their food satisfaction. Everything we ordered was great. Mom got the country fried steak. Sister ordered the crab melt burger. I ordered buttermilk fried chicken tenders. Corn bread was tasty. Sweet tea was just right. If you're looking for comfort, this is the place to go.
