This place rocks my socks. Noodles and I have a special relationship in which I feel I owe it to every noodle joint in the United States (...or dare I say...the WORLD???) to patronize their sometimes sketchy and seedy looking establishments. Lucky for Riso Noodle House, this is not the case. It's super clean, our waitress was incredibly friendly and the food was great. The restaurant is kind of tucked away in a shopping center, but the inside is well taken care of and really clean, with plenty of tables and booths. They have everything from Asian noodle soups to noodle stir fries. My husb and I split the Chicken Vietnamese Noodle Soup and the Shrimp Singapore Rice Noodles. The soup was good but very light in comparison to Pho or Ramen broth (which I kind of expected it to taste like) and the rice noodles were gone in less than 5 minutes if that tells you anything. Great place!

We went to Riso after reading some positive reviews. It is a small and very casual restaurant located in a strip mall in West Ashley. The server was very helpful, attentive, and friendly. The space was nice. The ingredients in everything we ordered were super fresh - lots of vegetables in our food and all looked really great! We started with the house soup which was good but rather mild tasting. It was described to us as a Japanese style onion soup. The Thai style riso wing appetizer was delicious - not breaded at all with great flavor. Black pepper shrimp hot plate and the yellow curry chicken were both good. A little too saucy for me though. The bok choy house vegetable dish was really good too. In general, everything tasted good, but was very mild in flavor - I generally expect some heat in my Asian food and definitely some interesting flavors. Maybe I ordered wrong. I would return but probably stick with a noodle dish since this is a "noodle house". They can do it all in terms of Asian food, but I think they really excel with the noodle dishes and not necessarily everything else.

Fast service and good food. I was expecting the food to be better because of the rave reviews but it was good and there was plenty.

This is a great place for awesome food at great prices. They offer more than just noodles dishes and a variety of foods. My husband loves their hot plates, which is kinda like the plates fajitas are served on minus the tortillas. You get a lot of food at a reasonable price. The owner is really nice and will make your order according to your likings. Overall it's a nice little place to enjoy great food with your friends and family.

This place was a great deal. Chicken Pad Thai for 7.95. You can't find a fast food meal for that much anymore. I'm also really happy to see the development of ethnic variety in Charleston. Service was fast and quick. Clean restaurant. The staff were very polite. While looking at the menu, I noticed that the egg drop soup kept popping up in the kitchen window. I ordered it and LOVED it. John ordered the dumplings- very good as well. Chicken pad Thai- pretty good. For the price, pretty sweet deal. Shrimp/veggies/fried rice- very good. They'll bring additional hot sauce to the table when asked. When I say hot sauce, I mean authentic hot sauce. Overall, our meal was 22 bucks for soup, appetizer, and two entrees. A meal like that would've cost close to 75 bucks in DC and the taste was just as good. They also give a 10% discount to Roper St Francis/MUSC employees.

The food is alright, especially the Pad Thai. The service was decent. Last time we were there, the waitress brought us two of the same appetizer although we had only ordered one. This would have bothered me more had the waitress not been so kind and pretty good otherwise. One thing to beware: the chicken is not good at all. The first time I came here, ordered Kong Po Chicken (or something like that) and came away thoroughly unimpressed. Thinking that I just ordered the wrong thing, I got the Chicken Pad Thai the second time I was here. It was delicious, minus the chicken, which is the same problem I had with the Kong Po. It is very dry and comes in large chunks on all of their dishes. Overall, I would come back. I just wouldn't get anything with chicken. Edit: Since I've been back several times, I really like most of their offerings. Just stay away from the chicken.

That was the worst Pad Thai I've ever had. Basically it was just noodles and some overly sweet syrup. It was disgusting.

Everything I've tried here is top-notch. My only complaint was the unavailability of a lunch-priced vegetarian option. The kung po tofu dinner was amazing, though.

We found Riso Noodle House on Yelp.com and from the reviews, decided to give it a try. We were not disappointed. We were there on a Sunday night, about 7 pm, and in the time we were there, 15 people came and went, some carrying out large "to go" orders. We are basic Chinese cuisine diners, so we can't speak of all the other types of foods they serve. But my husband's beef with broccoli (and many other vegetables) was very good. My almond chicken with broccoli and fried rice was VERY good! We also had their limpia for an app; very tasty! VERY GENEROUS PORTIONS! We brought home a meal for tomorrow! And the waitress was just the cutest little Chinese gal, oh, so sweet and very attentive to your every need. A clean restaurant, too, just a casual atmosphere. Located on Sam Rittenberg, in the little square of retailers with Outback. You might miss the "Riso", but you will definitely see "Noodle House" on the restaurant front.

We hit this place at least once a month. One of the best kept secrets in Charleston. The food is fresh and tastes great! I have to say though, my favorite thing about Riso is the ladies who work there! I do wish they served alcohol on Sundays...

I tried this last week because of reviews. The food was bland and terrible. We bought Green Curry Chicken and Beef with Broccoli. The meat in both dishes tasted like the meat chucks you find in canned soups. Both dishes were so bad we didn't even finish them. We threw them away. I was gagging all week even thinking about it. Yuck......never again!!!

Our new favorite restaurant! We love the food, especially the Singapore noodles and Japanese noodles. Get the steamed dumplings! We've loved everything we tried and we've brought our friends and family. It's always immaculate inside, even the walls are shiny. Plus, you can't beat the service, so fast and friendly. If you love noodles or Asian food, you'll love this place!

We went here because of all the hype on Yelp. This place was a let down. My mother ordered Wanton soup that was too salty. My dad had Pho soup that had too much salt. My husband and my Vietnamese salad was lacking flavor. We did order the famous Riso wings and it was good. Way over priced since we could get the same thing at a take out Chinese place on Dorchester. The service was good. They were very nice but I don't think we will ever come back.

I now have a new favorite place to get my Asian fix. I tried the Beef Soup from the authentic menu. The soup itself was fantastic, plenty of noodles with a rich broth that was seasoned well without being heavy handed on the salt. The meat was plentiful and tender, my only wish is that it had some more veggies in the soup. I also ordered an order of the Riso wings, I was told these were a sweet style wing but they came out with a dry rub that was mainly salt and pepper. I liked how the wings were cooked but didn't care for the dry rub, especially when I was expecting a wet sauce. I would love to come back and try some of their Udon as the pictures sure make it look tasty.

Was searching for a small mom and pop Asian restaurant while in Charleston and found Riso Noodle house. The noodle house is located in a strip mall near an outback. I was a little worried that we may have to quickly escape to Outback from the outside appearance but once inside all my fears were silenced. My family and I were quickly greeted and seated at a large table that could have seated double our party. We had 2 small children so the extra room was a treat. The menu is very varied offering Vietnamese, Thai, Chinese and Filipino options. It took us a while to figure out what each one of us wanted but went on and ordered 2 beef Lumpia appetizers. Each order came with 3 spring rolls. They were just enough to hold us until the meal. My family order the House Special Lo Mein, Shrimp Singapore Pancit Noodles, Chicken Curry Noodle soup and the Pho Nami Noodle. My order was the Chicken Curry Noodle Soup. At first I was not really happy with the taste but as I began to stir it and eat the dish the flavors really became delicious. I was very satisfied and the curry taste was very good. I did add some hoisin sauce and a little Sriracha!! The portions were very large!!! We shared 4 meals with 4 adults and 2 toddlers and we had extra to take home from each meal! The service was great!! Our server was very patient and helpful. She answered all questions and even went to ask the chef about certain things. I would definitely recommend it if you like Asian cuisine!!!

Excellent customer service, Fantastic Prices...but the food didn't have a wow factor. We started with the bubble tea, I got passion fruit green tea, which is amazing but you have to like the bubbles in bubble tea, I didn't. Based on Yelp reviews I made sure to get an order or pancit noodles and then the lumpia which I couldn't miss trying. Word to the wise, the beef lumpia is basically a beef sausage link in the roll. I'd suggest skipping, maybe the veggie lumpia would have been a better choice. The side of pancit noodles ROCKED. The pancit noodles had subtle rich flavor with amazing prices of egg that made me wish it was my entree. For my entree I got pork ramen...and I think it was served pretty traditionally, but I wouldn't order it again. I left with a lot of leftover Ramen. If I went back, I order based on Elite Yelpers suggestions. I'm glad I tried it, it was at least something new.

The main reason why I came to this place is because of the bubble tea and since I'm already here, I went ahead and got something to eat. A lot of people said good things about this place, so I thought I should try it. So here's the reason why I gave it a 2 star... I ordered the piña colada and taro flavor bubble tea. Taro was okay, but nothing I would drive 30 minutes for again. The piña colada was way too watery for a slushy and a bit bland. In regards to the food... I ordered honey walnut shrimp and yellow chicken curry. I thought both of them were just decent. Nothing to brag about!! They weren't bad, but it wasn't great either. Let's just say, I've had better food and also paid less compare to what I got today. Don't get me wrong, I don't mind paying good money, but it better be worth it! Maybe I'll give it another shot one day, but it won't be any time soon.

Well I knew from previous Yelpers this place was going to be good. We ordered the beef chow fun dish with fried rice and hot and sour soup. Very good flavor profile and unusual texture on the noodles gives the beef chow fun a five star spot. Everything else was cooked perfect and tasted great. Don't forget to try the bubble tea they have many flavors and options. The young man who waited on us with the Levi shirt and glasses could probably give a class on how to wait tables. He was super friendly and did a great job taking care of us for lunch.

This reminds me of Chinese food that I would go eat in China town LA and in SF. Everything was perfect and tasted fresh. Not sweetened with can sauces like other places you go to. Most all the other Asian food places taste the same because they all use #10 cans that came from who knows where they came from. This place the chicken tasted fresh not canned. Food was not drowning in sauce it was more made with real spices. I will be back for sure.

The staffs was so friendly. I ordered the hong kong noodle soup. The broth was so delicious BUT the beef was so hard and tough. The bubble tea was good. May be I try something else next time.

Ok, so this place is legit. I'm so glad all the other yelpers out there pointed me in this direction... I feel like I should be fair and mention that I was "eating clean" for the week prior to this visit, and let's be honest, everything not clean tastes better after a week of eating clean. Ha! Let's see, where to start. We ordered bubble tea to start. I've never had it before and it was straight up amazing. My husband got one too and he would not stop about how great it was... and he's had the real deal before in Asia. The $3.50 glass is huge, so, just do yourself a favor and try it. At the server's suggestion I got the Taro tapioca bubble tea, it was amazing. This was my favorite part of the whole meal. We also tried the lumpia, which was again pretty good, nothing crazy, but really good. Great flavors here! Then we got Pho and Udon noodles with a $3 side of Singapore Pancit Noodles. I've never had Pho before. The portion was ridiculous huge. I feel like this is something I could eat without feeling super heavy... it comes with a side of bean sprouts, cilantro and basil for you to add into it as you like. I actually thought the Pho was better the second day, maybe because there was a bit more flavor from sitting with the cilantro and basil. My husband didn't like the Pho, but he also doesn't like cilantro and prefers something a bit more heavy than soup. The udon noodles were both of our favorite between the two entrees. The hubs said he thought they tasted a little bit smokey (in a good way). Do yourself a favor and try these too. For whatever reason, ours didn't come out like the fajita plate that Scotty C. mentioned, but nonetheless, they were very good AND... huge plus, I didn't walk away feeling like I just licked a salt block for an hour. Sometimes after Asian food, I feel that way, but not with this dish. We also got a $3 side of Singapore Pancit noodles. Let me tell you, the $3 side is enough to be a full meal, really... and I can put food away. Unfortunately for this dish, they did the noodles but forgot the "Singapore" part of it (the server caught it, I would never have known), and she sent them back. Because they essentially cooked them twice, I think they were a little more dry than they would normally be, but still, good food. All in all, we ended up taking 2 boxes and 2 large soup containers home... I mean, if you are HUNGRY, go here... you can get a ton of good food for cheap! Lastly, I want to mention the service. I didn't see a name tag and I didn't want to scare the server by asking her name. Her English was rough, and I mean, really rough, BUT I would pick her again in a heartbeat, she was SO sweet and smiley. She seemed so happy to be there. She came across as someone genuinely happy and content to be working there, like she was having fun seeing two people come in and really enjoy their food. Kudos Riso... it will be tough to restrain myself to once a week.

Don't judge a book by it's cover. For those not liking the ambiance of the seating, please take the time to actually give the food a chance and enjoy what they have to offer. I ordered the Chicken Pad Thai and loved it. Service with a smile on my lunch break, and overall good experience.

When I find a place I like, I am very loyal to that business. I bring lots of people, and always recommend them to others. I've been to Riso 10+ times and have been very loyal to them. I was very excited to finally have a noodle house in town that had boba and that served authentic Chinese dishes. One reason I haven't reviewed them is because every time I visit Riso is always a hit or a miss for me. Both the staff and the food. Unfortunately since my last visit, that was the last time I decide to eat at this establishment. The good: Riso has this "hidden" Chinese menu on the back of the boba drinks menu with a list of authentic Chinese dishes. Everything on the Chinese menu is delicious and is worth every penny. Also the Vietnamese dishes are very good as well. The rest of the food on the other hand can be a hit or a miss. The pad thai was a big miss for me. It wasn't pad thai but more like a noodles stir fry. The boba drinks are good, but can be very sweet at times and I usually have to ask them to take it down a notch on the sugar. I do like the traditional milk teas and that they have a stamp card. I am always satisfied and patient with the regular staff at Riso. My problem is the way that Patti, and the owners conduct themselves toward their customers and new staff really disappointed me. They are very unprofessional and don't handle things the right way in order to smooth things over with customers when they have a problem. The chefs and the waitstaff also have a communication issue. Every time i've been here my food has never come out all together. Each person would always get their food in such random orders and times. I've also heard other tables complain about this as well. It's as if the chefs cook what's easiest first and just send whatever is ready out instead of going in order of the ticket and working together. One night, (a Friday night) Riso was slammed with customers. Being a former waitress I am usually very understanding and patient especially when I have nothing going on. After being seated I noticed there were only two staff serving a full house. Patti (the manager/ owner (maybe) and a new waiter who had been training for four days. We waited about twenty minutes before we were able to put in our order. We ordered the same thing as the people behind us (who came in after us) but they got their food first. After they got their food, we were informed that those dishes were sold out. That couple came in, since they knew the owners they ordered straight from the kitchen and got their food before us even though we were there first. I was more upset because we weren't informed about our food being "sold out" for another 20 minutes after we ordered. Patti kept blaming the new guy for everything. Apologizing for him, yelling at him for doing this or that wrong. Very unprofessional. We finally couldn't wait anymore so we just paid for our drinks and left. We then had to come back the next day because I left my debit card there. Patti then tries to make up for the night before by giving me a $10 gift certificate. I do understand and appreciate that she was trying to make things right, but a good manager knows how to make things right then and there. Overall: The food itself is not consistent or unique enough for me to keep going back. In the end this place left a bad taste in my mouth. Very sad and disappointing but I cannot continue to support a business that cannot conduct themselves professionally. I keep it at three stars because of the amount of times i've been there and have enjoyed my food. Also, I hope that they can improve on their customer service and work out the communication kinks.

We have not been to Riso Noodle House in quite some time so we decided we stop on by. We recently were at a YELP! top rated restaurant for Pho downtown and had a craving. It looks like we haven't been by Riso since the change of management. Service was a little slow. When we arrive there were a few tables already seated, maybe about 5, and were told to take a seat wherever we wanted. We choose a round table over in the corner. It was quite a while before anyone came over to greet us or get our drinks. Seemed to be a lack of communication on who was going to pick up our table. That's ok, it happens. I can't say that either of us was very pleased with our food. We started with Summer Rolls. Those were pretty good and probably the best part of the meal. They tasted fresh and light. The pork pieces were a little dry though. Tasted a little like jerky, however it did not take away from the overall dish. Matt had the pepper steak and friend rice. The beef was kind of tough, but the house fried rice was ok. Lots of meat: shrimp, chicken, and beef. The Pho...The broth was delicious which is key. The shaved beef was delicious. I love when it comes out a little rare and you can kind of control how much more it cooks in your soup. The same pork pieces from the summer rolls were in the pho, and still very jerky-ish, tough and salty. Two big complaints....the meatballs did not do it for me at all. They literally tasted and felt like you were eating one of those rubber bouncy balls. Something's gotta go with those. The tripe...there were these oddly textured bumpy strips in the pho. I wasn't sure what it was and it wasn't listed on the menu as an ingredient so I took it out. Our server never came back over after we got our food so once we were done I asked what it was. "Are you sure you want me to tell you? You didn't eat it did you?" It's tripe, cow intestine. Nice...I would think something like that should be listed in the ingredients. Maybe that's just me. "Yeah, most people ask that to be left out." Well why did no one tell me? Overall, I'm going to say we liked the old Riso a little better. It wasn't awful, but it wasn't a lot to write home about either. Not sure if we'll be back in anytime soon.

We tried Riso today for lunch and we'll definitely be back. I actually found Riso here on Yelp, and my husband and I decided to try it after reading a few other Yelpers reviews and seeing how positive they were. I know I can always trust my Charleston yelp crew, and Riso was no exception. I ordered the pancit noodles with shrimp, while my husband had the beef soup off the authentic Chinese menu (this is on the back of the menu of bubble tea) and wings. I didn't try his food so I can only comment on mine, but the shrimp pancit noodles were delicious. The portion was large and I had leftovers, but best of all... there was enough shrimp in the dish. Many times when I order a shrimp dish out, it comes with 5-6 shrimp, but not at Riso. The hoisin sauce was great with it, but the noodles didn't need any sauce- the natural flavors stood out. My husband also had leftovers. The service was excellent today. We ate in, but a few people had to go orders and we heard the staff call them by name and speak to them, so they remember their customers. Our drinks were kept full and we were offered to-go cups for them. Our server checked on us several times and was very attentive. The food, service, and portions at Riso were excellent. It's in a shopping center, so if you're looking for atmosphere, this may not be your place (think radio music and a TV playing an informercial). But if you want a great meal, definitely check out Riso.

Riso's is an adventure and comforting at the same time. I found myself there with a mentor who loves to eat. Basically, he's a non-professional competitive eater of spicy things. The menu is Asian fusion - Thai, Vietnamese, Chinese, Japanese (Ramen!) and Korean dishes are all available. I suggested we try something off the wall like the pigs feet but he deferred and called them "metatarsals." We asked the waitress for recommendations but she wasn't too helpful. I thought I ordered the passion fruit bubble tea, but it was actually the taro flavor. I highly recommend it - it is lightly sweet with chalky minerality. The bubbles were plump and chewy. Just perfect. We shared the beef lumpia and they were okay. The girth and length were bigger than typical lumpia and the filling was 100% (odd) meat without vegetables. I was a little scared of them actually. I ordered the curry noodle soup. The noodles were amazing - clearly fresh with a slippery mouth feel. The curry flavor of the soup was a bit dry. I was expecting sweetness but this was a generic curry powder curry. It heated up nicely as a leftover but I would not order it again. The Riso wings were just okay too but apparently others really love them. My friend's salt and pepper shrimp were delicious. The portion was quite small but the flavor of the crispy shrimp was exceptional. The service was fine and the atmosphere seemed a little secretive. I would give this 3 solid stars in NYC. Looking forward to the Ramen and Peking Duck set in the near future.

So this was a pleasant surprise and disappointment at the same time. My only disappointment being that I have not tried this neighborhood joint to date! My husband and I came here late at night after doing yard work. We looked funny, they didn't care. The place is kinda funny because all the booths are set up facing a row of small flat screen TVs, in airplane seating fashion. It was very clean and pleasant. The service was on point!!! The staff could work at a 5 star restaurant! Every time I turned around my water glass was filled, my food checked on, and beer-ed up. I will say that the menu is rather confusing. Once you pick out one of the 100 noodle types, your meat, and your sauce...you'll have about 5 minutes left before close. If you are adventurous like me, just ask for the chefs preference. It will put a smile on your waiter's face and a warm meal in your belly. I definitely recommend the pho over the soba, with ramen at close second. I can't wait to get an Asian persuasion again, because I have found my new fav ethnic box this side of the Ashley.

Really disappointed with the food here. Been there twice. Ordered the ramen once which was not palatable. On the second occasion I ordered the BBQ pork which was overlooked and also not tasty. The boba tea was very good and the service was wonderful and attentive. I wish that's all that mattered.

Was greeted and seated right away with a smile. The bench seating was a little worn out but it didn't bother me. I ordered the pho special aka pho nami and the lumpias. The pho was pretty good, nothing out of the ordinary, came with the fixings. The lumpias are egg rolls with more meat in them, they were good. Overall it's priced decently, food was good, service was nice and fast. Definitely stop by for lunch and dinner. My Co worker never been in a place like this and he even liked it.

Went here on the recommendation of a friend who told me they have a traditional menu in addition to an American one. We headed down one afternoon and it was pretty dead. The interior leaves a little to be desired but it was ok. It was very, very clean, especially the bathroom...extremely clean. They have pictures and descriptions of their traditional menu up front as well as it printed in Cantonese Chinese and english. Pretty much everything on the traditional menu contained meat, but I think you can substitute tofu for some of them. My fiancee ordered the Marshall Balls from the traditional menu and I ordered pancit noodles with shrimp. The marshall balls were weird tasting to me but my fiancee loved them. They translate in Chinese to something to the effect of "mangosteen diced beef". They had a sweet flavor that I couldn't pin down, but I imagine that would be the mangosteen? I would come here more often if I lived in West Ashley, but it is worth travelling for if you are interested in noodles or a traditional menu.

Pretty good! The boba tea was overly sweet but it's not like there is a lot of competition in the bubble tea department in Charleston. The almond honey chicken was delicious. The pad Thai was fair. The service was fast and the staff was on point, very attentive, friendly, and really the best part of the experience! I'm not in that area of town often, but I would visit again if I was.

I went here at around 10:15 and Yelp says it closes at 10:30 pm and they actually close at 10 but the lady saw that we were outside and said we can come in and take food to go so they actually stayed open for us to make us food. And boy was it good. This place is great with an awesome and friendly staff.

My new favorite lunch spot! The prices are great and you end of with a lot of leftovers which is perfect to leave at work and eat the next day. I ordered the pancit noodles with shrimp and it was delicious! The shrimp had their tails on which was alittle annoying but I'll work to take those bottoms off any day if I can eat that food! Good flavor and only cost $9 I'll take that anyday!

My first visit to this establishment was yesterday. Liked it so much, I'm back today. Yesterday, I ordered the lumpia, Riso wings, a bubble tea (Mighty Mango and Pearls on ice), and the Honey Walnut Shrimp. Since it was our first time eating there, they gave us a lychee drink on the house. Today, I ordered the lumpia, Fried Grenades, and Singapore Pancit. My favorite dish so far is the Riso wings. I'm not a huge fan of dry rub wings but these are fantastic. Least favorite is the Honey Walnut Shrimp (it was way too heavy). Portions are HUGE and the service is phenomenal. Alyssa is the sweetest!

This is our 5th time here and each time and they did not disappoint! The Sirloin Beef Noodle soup is awesome! For appetizer get the Riso wings or the spicy Calamari. It's great for two people or a group of 13.

So glad we found this place! I did a search for boba bc I LUV the drink and barely any places sell it in the south. Found it here and it was delish! Didn't luv the lumpia and sauce and fried rice didn't really have anything extra/special, but we loved the pancit and honey walnut shrimp (other foods we don't often find in this area). Will definitely return and have already gotten other friends excited about the place! Everyone should try a boba /"bubble tea" drink, mmm. Many types to choose from :)

This place is a diamond in the rough. Excellent food and the bubble tea is awesome. First time, we got the mango and taro flavors. We both liked the taro better but both were excellent. For food, the first time we both got curry pancit noodles which were excellent and the portions were huge so next time my girlfriend and I decided to get one main dish to share. We got Pad Thai and it was excellent and more than enough for the both of us. The best thing about the place is the great service. The ladies that work there are super nice, friendly, and helpful.

Been here since opening day. They treat me like royalty everytime I come in. Everyone I have brought here brings their friends, significant others, and the likes here after I introduce them to this place. Large portions, great prices, and some of the most friendly staff I have had the pleasure of dealing with. Dont pass this place up. Side Note: The restaurant has had a change in staff and management since my post above, do let me add a few things. The menu had seen a overhaul and most of the original favorites are still there. They have added bubble tea to the menu and I absolutely love it! The prices have remained the same but the portions are not what they use to be. The previous staff knew me by name, this staff is not as attentive to such detail and at times that carries over into their food service. The food is worth the staff's mental flaws at times, so please don't pass this place up.

Went on a Sat afternoon based off the reviews but was very disappointing. Ordered the chicken lettuce wraps and they were made from frozen carrot/peas mix that you buy from the grocery store. Not good at all. Also had the chicken curry which did not taste like curry at all. Didn't seem to have any coconut milk in it or the Thai curry that I'm accustomed to. The calamari was tender but breading was already falling off while on the plate. The only good experience was the beef pho. It was a large serving & flavorful. Service was also good. Overall, would def not go back.

I completely forgot to review this place after going with Vu T (See Review). I don't event remember the names of everything we had but I do remember how amazing the food and the service was. I got an order of udon noodles which came out on a steaming plate similar to fajitas... never seen that before, and it was probably the best udon noodle dish I've ever had. Another friend of ours got Pad Thai which I tried and it was excellent. Maybe not the best I've had but no complaints at all. As Vu T mentioned, we came in pretty close to closing and they didn't care at all. They were happy to have our business and were 100 percent accommodating. I can't wait to go back.

Very good meal! I got the big bowl and the shrimp Basil Summer Rolls and the Pho Nami Noodle. The shrimp rolls were on point, and very fresh. The big bowl of Pho was very good, tripe was cooked just right and the fresh toppings were delicious on the soup. It's huge, so you could share.. So if going alone you will have left overs! Would recommend and I can't wait to bring my hubby back. Service was wonderful..went for a late lunch on a Friday.. Not busy today..

Ok I'm really not a fan of this place but my partner is. I do like the bento box and the firecracker wonton which you cannot get anywhere else nor have I had it at any other place. This is his review. It's a little place this is always friendly (I agree). They are never busy so they compensate by giving each customer that individual attention that most places that are busy cannot do or have the luxury of providing. There is a secret menu that is very authentic (ie Beef Tongue, Oxtail Soup, etc) which is way too authentic for me but apparently it is a delicious change to the regular asian fair that tend to get "americanized" for restaurants to survive.

Have eaten here several times and always get delicious food and friendly service. Everything here tastes really good, is served quick, and is priced reasonably for the portion. The curry is offered in 3 heat levels, and having a tongue that finds pepper spicy, I always stick with the lowest, yellow. It is still heated, but not unpleasant or bad. I enjoy it and might even venture to try the medium heat soon... The pot stickers are a great way to start your meal, but do get them pan fried or they get a bit slippery to get a hold of. The Pad Thai is wonderful and was recommended to me by the server as one of the best dishes on the menu. For those wanting more authentic flavors, they give you a second menu full of more unusual flavors such as chicken feet.

For charleston, this place could be the best chinese noodle place. You'll have to ask for the authentic menu before ordering! My favorite was the wonton noodle soup. It was very flavorful! I enjoyed it more than the beef noodle soup. The chow fun was also up to par, it has that good balance of sweet and salty. For the night we went they only had 2 servers and they definitely needed more when the crowd started bustling in. I noticed that some of the customers had to wait quite a long time even to get their drinks, but as soon as they're orders were in, the dishes came out timely. I haven't found a good chinese place in/around charleston until this place!

I love this restaurant. I had Pho for the first time here, and came back a couple of days later with my wife saying, "you have to try this." Admittedly, it is the only thing I've had on their menu. I've wanted to try their other dishes, but I'm hooked on Pho. Although I am a Charlston native, the Pho at Riso gained instant comfort food status for me. The service is always friendly and attentive. I felt like they recognized me since the second time I came in. I have never had to wait long for my order. However, for someone with sub amateur chopstick skills like me it takes a while to eat one of their large dishes (only size).

I haven't had pho this good since living in a big city with a large Vietnamese population. So, so good. All the flavors that are supposed to be there are there, not just the lame attempts at pho I've had at other places. The lady had the Singapore pancit which was also awesome. Huuuuge portions that make for awesome left overs too. Service was fast and very friendly. Can't say much for atmosphere but we didn't come here for candle light. Can't wait to try so many more amazing looking dishes.

How is it that 3 people can order so much food, I mean so much that you literally get full by just trying a little bit of everything that was ordered? Well, when everything that is on that menu looks and sounds like it is about to explode a flavor in that orifice on your face you call a mouth. Your taste buds dancing around like they just won the lottery. Yea it was like that! With all the selections of Chinese, Vietnamese, Japanese, Thai food on the menu you wouldn't think about noticing the Swiss and German dishes..... Odd combination of menu items? Yes.... but how do they stack up? FREAKING DELICOUS!!! The German dish and Swiss dish is by far one of my favorite things to order on the menu. But I will have to give the Riso Wings the number one, uno, mot, eins spot on my to order list when I go here. The prices are not bad considering the portion sizes you get. If you order a soup, app, and main, you will be guaranteed a take out box. Food is fresh and cooked to order, which one would expect but not always done. Staff was very helpful and encouraged us to sit and relax, take our time and enjoy ourselves. They did this even though we showed up 20 minutes before the closed. Willingness to stay late and provide great customer service to your patrons.... GREAT business model! Highly recommend this restaurant if you want to try a little bit of everything Asian!

We liked Riso Noodle House enough to come back the next day to try new items. The lumpia was great, as were the chicken wings, egg drop soup, and honey wall nut shrimp. My wife really liked the General Tso chicken but I found it too bready. Bubble tea's are fun and delicious but a little rich to have 2 days in a row. The standout here though is the service. Both waitresses took great care of us and put up with the dozens of questions we asked about the menu with smiles and genuine interest in helping us find something we would like.

Riso is okay but not great. Edamame were completely over cooked. Blanch it guys. It should be bright green and served at room temp with sea salt...not hot-n-soggy with table salt. Curry noodle soup was just okay. Not nearly spicy enough but thankfully not overly salty either. Nice staff.

Thanks to Yelp. Cozy and clean. Asian guy was friendly. Best Vietnamese Pho in Charleston. I also ordered the beef lumpia, it was the bomb. Tsintao beer! Life is good. I was so full I didn't order desert. Definitely coming back!

We were pleasantly surprised. The menu states that they are under new management. As this was our first time there, we checked Yelp and saw mixed reviews, but oh well~!! I had Chicken Pad Thai and hubby had Mongolian Beef. Too bad we never want to order the same thing or we could have shared and still taken home~! The food was very good. The service was also good. Would definately return if in the area again~!!

I can't say enough nice things about this place. They do the best Asian/Thai/Fusion food in town. I have tried most things on the menu and have never been disappointed. All menu items are reasonably priced and they have great lunch specials. My favorite dishes include the riso wings, pho (Vietnamese) soup, stir fry chicken and vegetables, and hot tea. This place is a true gem - authentic and fresh and cheap. Who could ask for more! It is tucked in the Outback shopping center, near Hwy 61 and 17.

Please don't be fooled by these positive reviews. This food is lacking in flavor and poorly executed. I wouldn't feed the chicken and broccoli to my dog. Pad Thai? Mushy and tasteless. Overall very disappointed with all aspects of the meal. Thanks for the false sense of hope yelpers. You guys dropped the ball on this one.

With the best noodles in town it has the right to call themselves the noodle house. And the bubble tea is best I have ever had. They are very popular where I come from so when I moved here I was happily surprised. And very impressed! I ordered Pad Thai with some more sauce because you can never have enough. And the riso wings are different than wings I usually have but the are my new favorite! Also there Vietnamese cold noodle I've had a dozen times and it has always been so good! And for the main entree I love how the Crispy Pan looks and taste! And lastly, for dessert I had the fried cheese cake. When they brought it out to my table it looked beautiful but I was a bit nervous about how it was going to taste but it was delicious!! The new management is amazing and the waitresses are so nice and helpful! Must try mango black tea with pearls.

Would probably give this a 3.5 if I could...food was good but flavor was lacking. Service was excellent though, some of the friendliest staff around! As far as fast asian food goes, it was 4 stars. I will most likely go back when I need a quick fix take-out.

DELICIOUS. It's an authentic mom and pop style Chinese restaurant although they do offer other Asian dishes like Pad Thai, Pancit, Yaki Soba, and Curry. I had the Dry Beef Chow Mein Noodles, the hubby had Yellow Chicken Curry, and my son had Lumpia. Everything was superb. We will definitely be coming back. Glad we decided to try it out. Forgot to take pics because we saw how amazing it looked and wanted to eat it right away.

Pretty good Asian food place. The decor is nice and clean. The place got cleaned often. The lady owner was very helpful and nice. They have lots of Asian dishes to choose from. I ordered hot and sour soup and the singapore rice noodles. The hot and sour soup was pretty spot on. It was hot and sour. Go figure. As for the rice noodles, it had good flavor, but the chicken was a little dry and I wish the bell peppers had more flavor to it. The plates and bowls you get are pretty fancy. The portion size for the entree was huge. You can definitely take home half of it. Probably a good idea to share. I'd come back!

I felt the food here was very good. The co-owner was on hand and gave us a little bit of her story, coming from China, etc. I liked that many of the dishes were closer to authentic than most would assume. She stated several of them were family recipes. I think too many people expect fast food or a PF Chang's experience, so they may not be expecting the food the get. Chinese shouldn't be overpoweringly salty, sweet, or anything. A balance of textures, tastes, mouth feels, is what it is all about. The dishes I've tried here met all of those and I was pleased. I hope to come here again when I'm in town next.

I applaud this restaurant for offering a decent number of pan-Asian dishes that cater to the American palette. Nothing is really "authentic," but unless you've had them in their respective countries you'd never know anyway. Having had most of these dishes on the other side of the world, I still have to give mad props to the Chinese and Vietnamese chefs who prepare them. I ordered the Singaporean noodles with Lychee boba. Many if the reviews said medium was spicy enough, but I disagree. Medium here is barely a "1" in most Thai restaurants. For a town with no Bubble Tea culture, it's was ok--but don't expect it to taste like the real thing. I really like the fact that they use Filipino names like "pancit" instead of rice vermicelli noodles, and "lumpia" instead of spring rolls. The restaurant is clean and the wait staff are (Southern) nice. I would come back for the generous portions and charming service. Glad this exists in Charleston!

This place is amazing! It is super authentic. The grenade app was a wonton that was obviously homemade none of that perfectly folded premade business you get at most places. The sesame chicken was incredible, obviously hand battered and fried, not prefrozen. The hot and sour soup was the best I have ever had. The staff is so friendly and so happy to see you walk in the door. They are attentive and prompt. I will be going back again and again!

I must admit I had mixed feelings about this place when my sister decided to take me here for dinner one night during my visit to Charleston only because I've been disappointed with a lot of "Asian" cuisines there. But this place is by far my favorite noodle house in Charleston. Now keep in mind that being from Southern CA, I've experienced a wide variety of Asian cuisine so my taste buds were craving something ethnic and savory -- and that's just what I got while at Niso Noodle House. The house soup is awesome and the wonton soup...major yum! The hot plates are filled with bursting flavor and it comes in a decent portion. Staff are super friendly and the ambience there is great. Definitely a place I'll be returning to when visiting Charleston.

The food and service today was much better than my recent visits. It's still not the same as before, but everyone enjoyed their lunch today.

Riso is okay but not great. Edamame were completely over cooked. Blanch it guys. It should be bright green and served at room temp with sea salt...not hot-n-soggy with table salt. Curry noodle soup was just okay. Not nearly spicy enough but thankfully not overly salty either. Nice staff.

Thanks to Yelp. Cozy and clean. Asian guy was friendly. Best Vietnamese Pho in Charleston. I also ordered the beef lumpia, it was the bomb. Tsintao beer! Life is good. I was so full I didn't order desert. Definitely coming back!

  • Charli B.

  • Patti B.

Chinese Cuisine

The popularity of Chinese food in America can be adjudicated by the appearance of China Town in many major cities in the United State of America. The popular trend of ordering or opting for Chinese take away food isn't unknown in America. Chinese take away food comes to rescue when you're too tired from work or too exhausted to cook. No one can resist the temptation of eating spicy noodles, shrimp, chicken, beef or pork cooked in the sweet and spicy sauce. The cooking method of authentic Chinese food is a lot different compared to what is served in America.

Generally, Chinese use dark meat small bones and organs to cook dishes but this changes when you are eating American-Chinese fusion food prepared using white boneless meat cooked with broccoli, carrots and onions. Back in China, the food is less spicy and oily as they favor steaming and braising method for cooking the most popular dishes. So, if you have a taste for authentic Chinese food, then try finding a real Chinese restaurant in the city. You can also try the most popular fusion Chinese food like Pecking Duck, Chicken Feet, Hot Pot, Shrimp Dumpling Soup, Mapo Tofu, Wontons, Chop Suey, Egg Rolls and not to forget Fortune Cookies.

There are not many restaurants in America serving authentic Chinese food. A little research on Restaurant Listings directory can help you locate the best Chinese restaurants in the city. Chinese cuisine is continuously evolving, and you can find a variety of dishes categorized as the food for lactose intolerant, gluten intolerant, vegan, vegetarian, and diabetic friendly. So, if you have a group of friends with different taste patterns, save the hassle and visit the nearest Chinese restaurant in your city.
