Went for lunch because I was in the West Ashley area. I'm not too big on buffets because people act like they haven't eaten in 10 years, but I wanted some Chinese with variety. Apparently this is the only Chinese buffet on West Ashley. I went to two and they were closed down. Food was your typical Chinese buffet. The price was normal. I think it was like 7 or 8 something for lunch which is typical of a all you can eat Buffett. I liked the variety including the different seafood dishes. The food was ok, I have had better Chinese buffets before. The food was room temperature, but I guess that is what you get with a buffet. It's not coming out hot out of the oven. Would I be back? Probably if I had a large appetite. I also have a suggestion. I wish they had crab rangoons. Those are my favorite and I have had them before at other Chinese buffets.

Barely any sushi out and the kind they did have out was basic. Had about 50 options of food. Sweet and sour chicken was good. They had some Mexican options available.

Now, they changed their name to A1 and have new owners and managers. The new management is so much better!! Everyone is super nice, from the cleaning lady, waiter/waitress, to the cook. The food selection is the almost the same but cooking style is different. Tastes much better and food seems to be fresher. I believe they just changed management two weeks ago? I've been here twice since then. Cheap good food and good management? Sign me up. Please don't change back to how it was. Old management was very rude. Food was not great then either but thank gosh there's a change

We stopped here on the fly after a long day. I wish we hadn't....low quality, luke warm sub-par food that looks like it needs to be tossed on the trash. We should have gone to Taco Bell. Sure hope I'm not poisoned.

Because I have been exploring different methods of suicide, and recently, binge eating unhealthy food has topped my charts, I visited this fine establishment. I assumed I would be able to load my plate with all the stray cat, dog, and rodent meat one could possibly want for $9, in hopes that by the end of the night, I would be found nearly dead in an alleyway, phone clutched in my hand whispering, "I gotta tell my friends I have finally found a way out." Unfortunately, none of that happened, and here I am writing a review for Ocean China Buffet. First, the buffet itself is the size of an ocean. I can see why they named the place Ocean. I mean, good lord, you can go around the world in 60 seconds. Pizza? They have that. Not good pizza, but who the fuck cares? Salmon? From a can no doubt, but it's there. Chinese buns? Yeah, but they taste like candy, which was weird. Kung pow kitten? Got that for sure. I had some and purred all the way home. It could've been a cat from my neighborhood, who knows! Sushi? Absolutely! I ate a few rolls and managed NOT to vomit from both ends for 3 days. Hibachi? Why, yes, there was a hibachi station in the center of this glorious buffet, but I, for the life of me, couldn't figure out how to use it. Is it self cook? Or do you order someone in a funny hat to cook it for you? The buffet also included chicken wings, a Chinese buffet staple, and coconut shrimp, which appeared to be covered in cum from a Chinese man's "coconuts." I avoided that; I'm not looking to have kids for another few years. My only complaint about this place in general is that despite all of the food it offered, there were only two kinds of flavors present: salty and sweet. Ocean gets 2 stars for each flavor it offers. If you're going here in hopes of ending the horror that is your life, don't bother, but if you're hungry and want a belly full of animals and MSG, this is highly recommended. Please note that the fact that I actually ate here is a testament to how far I have descended into darkness.

For dinner, I wanted food and I wanted food fast. Please don't make the mistake of trying this place. It's the worst restaurant ever. Food is all cold and unappealing. Taco Bell would've been better.

Definitely hit or miss, but it's never let us down at lunch time or dinner time, just don't go inbetween normal "meal times" we love the hibachi bar in the middle where you can choose your items and they cook it for you. Husband loves the sushi selection. Kiddo loves the starchy options (great mei fun!) and the ice cream is so so so good... what's in there??

I'd say it is the most disappointing food I have ever eaten, but there were meals in the high school cafeteria that may have been worse. Cold and soggy were the first few plates so I thought I just made bad choices, but waited around and got some fresh stuff... not any better. Charleston has some pretty good Chinese buffets, head over to Rivers Ave or Tangier Outlets, its worth the drive for much better quality.

I have been to a few buffets in my day and this one has to be my least favorite of all. The sushi was awful (even for a buffet) and the food was not very appealing over all. The hibachi was ok but, very limited in its choices.

I was here with the boyfriend on a Sunday night around 9pm. Dinner was only $10/ person for the buffet. It was not crowded. It was a rather nice buffet. There were about 3 or 4 choices of rolls for sushi and about 4 choices for sashimi over rice. They also had hibachi. The chef that did the sushi and hibachi changed out the sushi often (I was keeping a close eye). I was brave and attempted the raw oysters. I also had the mussels. I couldn't tell if the mussels were raw or steamed but they had a nice light flavor. And I am happy to report that I did not get ill after eating raw fish at a cheap buffet. And no I do not have an iron stomach. There is a ton of meat at this buffet. There are many types of chicken dishes, claims casino, ribs, and a bunch more that I cannot remember. They have the usual fried section. They also had several soups. And there is ice cream and other desserts. The only thing I would change is I wish there were more vegetables. They had cooked string beans and some raw stuff for salad but not many veggies compared to the abundance of meat and seafood. Nothing absolutely blew my socks off but there is something for everyone here and it is an amazing price for all you can eat with a large variety of fresh food. And I am normally not into buffets. Carnivores and pescatarians would be happy here.

This restaurant is super awesome. They have looots os food, incluiding some exotic ones. The staff is interesting too. The chinese pop music gives the place a special atmosphere. It's like teleporting to China, but with internet access and dessert included.

My wife and I really enjoyed this buffet. You know what to expect at a place like this and they were actually very good. They even had odd expensive items like sushi, seaweed salad, duck, crawfish, and a hibachi bar.

Lunch seemed ok. Shrimp was fresh, sushi was good and generally all the food was good. The Crawfish surprisingly was good too. Never had good Crawfish on any buffet. The waitress was very nice but the hibachi chef cooking had an attitude for some reason. He was just a young cocky dude. The deserts were good to top everything off. For 7.99 you can't go wrong.

The worst place ever! food is cold, some of the meat dont even look cooked. The service is slow and I will never come back here again! What a waste of $10 or $11 bucks I would rather spend this $10 bucks at McDonalds.

Chinese Cuisine

The popularity of Chinese food in America can be adjudicated by the appearance of China Town in many major cities in the United State of America. The popular trend of ordering or opting for Chinese take away food isn't unknown in America. Chinese take away food comes to rescue when you're too tired from work or too exhausted to cook. No one can resist the temptation of eating spicy noodles, shrimp, chicken, beef or pork cooked in the sweet and spicy sauce. The cooking method of authentic Chinese food is a lot different compared to what is served in America.

Generally, Chinese use dark meat small bones and organs to cook dishes but this changes when you are eating American-Chinese fusion food prepared using white boneless meat cooked with broccoli, carrots and onions. Back in China, the food is less spicy and oily as they favor steaming and braising method for cooking the most popular dishes. So, if you have a taste for authentic Chinese food, then try finding a real Chinese restaurant in the city. You can also try the most popular fusion Chinese food like Pecking Duck, Chicken Feet, Hot Pot, Shrimp Dumpling Soup, Mapo Tofu, Wontons, Chop Suey, Egg Rolls and not to forget Fortune Cookies.

There are not many restaurants in America serving authentic Chinese food. A little research on Restaurant Listings directory can help you locate the best Chinese restaurants in the city. Chinese cuisine is continuously evolving, and you can find a variety of dishes categorized as the food for lactose intolerant, gluten intolerant, vegan, vegetarian, and diabetic friendly. So, if you have a group of friends with different taste patterns, save the hassle and visit the nearest Chinese restaurant in your city.
