Negative stars. Run. Flies, gnats, more flies buzzing around kitchen that you can see from the dining room. We didn't even eat anything because when the food came there was a long black hair in my gfs salad. The manager told us he would take care of it and we left tire tracks out the door.

We stopped in for a drink as we are from Pittsburgh and Big Ben is part owner. Neat place, menu looked good, staff was friendly.

Pretty typical bar food/atmosphere. The menu is to big for them to make anything great. But for a quick lunch or dinner, some good beers, and a place to hang out it fits the bill.

Went for lunch, after a previous negative experience. Had shrimpa d bacon BLT. Asked for it on rye, served on croissant. Got food to go, so did not notice till Igot home. Food so-so. Croissant greasy. Fries incredibly greasy. Husband got shrimp po-boy. Okay, bun not toasted, inedible fries. Waitress very nice and attentive. This place needs to improve its food.

Stick to the appetizers. The entrees are much less desirable. Go for drinks, sports, and snacks.

I would never go back here again. I looked at the menu before we went to the restaurant and saw they have a vegetable panini listed on the menu. As a vegetarian, I always check ahead to make sure there is something on the menu for me. We arrived around 5:30 and were seated right away. The booth was very sticky and the whole place felt dirty. I couldn't find the panini on the menu and asked about it. The waitress said they didn't have it and I asked if they could make it for me. They told me the panini bread was frozen and it would take too long to thaw and that the sandwiches are made ahead of time and this wasn't one of the sandwiches. I even suggested they could use another bread, I didn't care. i just wanted a veggie sandwich for crying out loud! Our waitress was extremely rude and unaccommodating to the fact that I was a vegetarian and there really wasn't anything besides a salad on the menu that I could eat. After speaking with her, I had the feeling that the food was not fresh and frozen. Hence why they couldn't just whip up a veggie sandwich. We left without even ordering and I am glad we made that decision.

Meh. Ordered a buffalo shrimp app and a salad with grilled shrimp ... Took almost an hour. It wasn't the lunch rush, it was 1p on a Saturday. WTF. Found hair and chicken in the grilled shrimp salad. Not a pescetarian's delight. Buffalo shrimp was as crunchy as my wife's croutons. Try somewhere else :(

Wish I could say something positive about KSGrille- but they consistently under deliver. The food is lacking flavor and they simply pile on the sides to make up for the poorly prepared mains, and the service is ok but they seem to be so understaffed that the staff cannot help but have an attitude. I've been there and been astounded by the wait - even when the air conditioning is busted. Time for a new approach or new management.

Pro: service was great, lots of tvs, local craft beer by the bottle and nice location Con: We did a family app lunch and beer. The cooler wasn't working and they had no draft beer. The wings were an odd texture. They disintegrated as we ate one. It was like they had been cooked and then sat in the sauce for a long time. The nachos were embarrassing. They are made with county fair cheese. That would be awesome at a middle school basketball game on a Tuesday night but not when I'm on vacation and paying a premium at the beach. The spinach dip was frozen, thawed and then left under a warmer too long. My beer actually evaporated sitting next to it (dry). Finally, the sliders should have been called the chew, chew, chew and sliders. Save yourself some money and hit the frozen food isle at the Harris Teeter.

I will say this, our server, Amanda made our meal worth it! She was a delight and was very professional. Food was good and there was lots of it. We sat inside, was a little noisy but football was on and some folks love their team! Not our first time here will be back. Amanda needs a raise for her good work!

Came to King Street for the second time and again it was amazing! Had the buffalo wings and again they were the best I've ever had. Also that the gigantic fish sandwich and I highly recommend it! My fiancé had the turkey burger and loved it. Ask for Andrea she was great!

Extremely disappointing. Bar service was shocking. Table service was effectively self service. Would recommend going to the market and eating at home.

Bad bar service, out of a lot of both bar and food items, service way below par. Food was mediocre at best, they messed up 2 of our orders, food took forever to get delivered. Very disappointing.

Cool place for lunch, we ate outside which was nice. The food was okay, nothing special....mainly bar food and sandwiches. Our server was great as was another server who asked how we were doing, both very friendly and helpful. The hostess was apathetic, acting like it was a bother to show us to a table. She was kinda rude when I asked her where the restrooms were, maybe because she was trying to chat up two older gentlemen seated by the bar. There were a couple other blonde girl servers working who were cleaning tables like it was beneath them and talking about their previous wild night out. That's not really the kind of talk or behavior customers want to see. Maybe it's just hard to find good help on the island.

Nachos, huge and tasty! Bleu cheese burger, Patti melt, Texas heart stopper and turkey melt...all cooked exactly to order, service was awesome and no one looked at us funny cuz of what we were wearing! Been here before, will come again for sure!!!

Food not worth the price. Service was decent but sub par. All of the side dishes were freezing and the pepper jack pasta was so over spiced it was actually hard to swallow. I believe that the only reason this restaurant has business is because this island has few places to choose from. We will not be stopping during our next vacation.

Just attempted to eat dinner here. I realize they were busy, but after waiting an hour after ordering and still no appetizer let alone dinner, I left. Going to go home to make a very late dinner instead. Not worth it. Food is fine having eaten here in the past, but management needs to train their kitchen better so they know how to handle a rush. Also the hostess had no clue as to how to handle a line at the entry. They should take a name and then move ppl out of the way so others can put their name in. We were all confused. The only person who knew what she was doing was our waitress who apologized repeatedly. Poor girl. Maybe management will train their staff better moving forward.

Half of the items on the menu were unavailable. Once we did decide on something that was available, the service was sub-par and it took 45 minutes to receive our food. The food was just okay. The pretzel roll on my turkey melt was greasy and the presentation was sloppy. I will not return.

Went there on St Patrick's Day hoping for a little Irish festivities. No specials. No Irish music. Food was poor to midland. Service was below average. Won't be back.

AWFUL FLY PROBLEM! Good pub food, great service, but an AWFUL FLY PROBLEM inside the restaurant... With each bite of food, each person in my party had to swat the multiple flies that swarmed our food. We mentioned it to the server, who was apologetic, but explained that staff had left the outside door in the bar area open during the day shift... Then on our way out, much to our dismay, the door to the bar area leading outside was again propped open. My husband went back in to speak to the manager and address the fly concern. The manager stated that plants outside had recently been fertilized with manure, and as a result, flies were worse than usual. He explained that he'd called property management to complain about the fly problem outside. However, he somehow couldn't quite compute that leaving the outside door open, allowing flies to freely enter the restaurant, was counterproductive and a major sanitation issue.

They were closed for renovations the first part of our trip to Kiawah, reopening on a Saturday. Located conveniently across for the Marriott we were staying at. We decided to have it for lunch around noon. I guess we should've not pressed our luck and gone the day they were reopened... Really bad experience, not only with service but also with food. We were seated quickly, then took about 15 minutes to get our drinks (water and sweet tea). Then we ordered and 15 minutes later our waitress tells us they are out of half the food we ordered, (on app sampler) then as we tried to sub things out, they continued to be out. This happened to every group around us too. Things like spinach dip, their Philly rolls, Cubans sandwich, various salad ingredients, mashed potatoes, etc.... We heard it all. After close to an hour we got our food - missing one item, and it took another 15 to get that and the ketchup and mustard we requested... Wings were decent, sliders barely had meat, whatever the egg roll was just was fried roll, no filling. The fries we got on the side were good, I will give them that - waffle fries... very crispy. We did feel kind if bad for our waitress, as being out if food wasn't her fault, but she also was pretty slow as well. Felt like it was a stop ending for a brand new restaurant, not folks who had just been closed for 5 days.

This would be a great sports bar if they could improve the food. The nachos were basically chips with cheese wiz on them, not even hot. They have a great chopped salad were you can add your own items. Could have been fresher. I'm guessing this would be a better burger spot. Hope the owner can do something to improve the food.

Good service. The salmon on top of shrimp scampi was to die for!!!! My husband and I came here to eat three times within two days....

Considering this is a captive location miles away from any competitive alternative, I was expecting far less than we got. It frankly was a huge surprise! Prices were reasonable, the food was actually very good, and the atmosphere was terrific!!! Great place for pub food and beers. My Spanish fly burger ordered medium was served just that way!! My wife's BBQ chicken sandwich was a delightful surprise and exceeded her expectations. Service was on point and it turned out to be a very pleasant dinner!! I'd go back for sure! If you're in kiawah looking for a good option this is it!! Lots of TVs on too so you can keep up with the games!

Sitting in the shade outside on a great day. The BLT is HUGE and the "mix your own" salad is big enough for two. The mix your own salad is a first for me and a nice idea. You get a choice of lettuce, iceberg or romaine and then add five other items like broccoli, tomato, mushroom or other veggies and cheeses and for additional costs , ham, salami etc. loved the idea and I wish more places offer a similar idea. Plenty of meat on the BLT and it was about two inches high. We split it and it was good enough for each of us. Severing staff was very good and took care of all our needs. A good choice at Freshfields.

Unsure why the 2-3 star reviews??? This is a sports bar and not a fine dining restaurant. If you get good service and good-to-great food, then it's a win-win, folks! We were greeted by a young host who offered us a table of choice. We opted for a booth but it wasn't cleaned yet. He asked us to wait a minute and promptly went over to clean it. Meanwhile, another young gentleman comes by and was about to seat us not knowing that we had been waited on already. That's superb hosting. Our waitress was nice and prompt. When we just ordered ice water, she asked us if we wanted lemon. So few wait staff offer this kind gesture. Great job. We ordered the Charleston Chicken and Santa Fe Burger. The chicken was very good and dressed very nicely. The burger was very good as well. It's weird to me that they charge an additional $1 for lettuce, tomato, onion, pickle but I like my meat with veggies so I opted for that. The check was also promptly presented without asking. Our waitress was on top of what was going on and we were out the door in no time. Only been here once but wouldn't mind coming back to try the asiago chicken or fried chicken or another burger. Prices are a little pricey but you are in a ritzy zip code.

The service was cold. Hostess a bit rude, bar tender who took our order a bit flighty. The food was terrible. Hubby and I both ordered pasta dishes and they were both just plain bland. Not to mention the portions were tiny, and I am a scarce eater! The meats in our dishes had NO traces of salt, pepper or any seasoning and they were very dry. The pastas were overdone and bland - although I think mine tasted like dirty water. Would definitely not eat here again, not even for something non-pasta. The cooks obviously don't use seasoning and overcook meats.

Thank you Chelsea! We had no choice but to eat here since it's one if the few places open near Seabrook but our server made the experience a 5 star, review worthy experience. Food was good, beers cold, but it's a chain... Your not getting the greatest meal but it's worth it and ask for Chelsea, if you her boss and reading this... She deserves a raise or the better shifts :)

Always a good choice. We usually eat at least twice at King Street when we are in town. Love the buffalo shrimp, fries, blackened chicken sandwich, salads, etc. We like to sit in the bar area and it is nice that they stay open late. Great place to watch games and just hang out a have some cocktails.

Pretty bad food and slow service. Ordered a bacon cheeseburger medium because I figured this could not be bad. Middle of the burger was gray because it took 1 hr to get served. Best thing here was the Heinz ketchup and the water.

We fine service at the King Street Grille for dinner on a busy Saturday night. The food was Ok. I had a "make your own" salad which was good, and my husband had the sweet tea fried chicken which was a tad bland. We also had these odd egg rolls to start, 1 was stuffed with mac and cheese and one was stuffed with philly cheesesteak. They were not bad, (I mean, we ate them all!) but they didn't really work. They were just kind of strange! Ill probably be back because there doesn't seem to be much else in terms of sit down places at freshfields village. I liked that the place was loud so my horribly behaved two year old didn't stand out. Also many many thanks to the bar tender who gave us free drinks! It was just soda, but still really nice of her!

There's something about it, there food just isn't good. I've eaten here numerous times while on Kiawah and I just don't think I can go back.

Great sports bar. The Santa Fe burger was very flavorful, maybe a touch salty, The bacon was perfect - very crispy. The fish sandwich was huge and the fish was tender. Our server Pernell was very nice and attentive. The bartender that helped us was great, too. I can't remember her name. She was quick and sweet. Maybe we just hit it on a great night since it was after the high season, but it was a nice little sports bar - tons of tv's. We would go back.

A great, relaxed atmosphere to get good eats and watch sports. Must try mac and cheese eggrolls and veggie panini!

So the food gets 4 starts the atmosphere gets 2. The ambiance was just eh, the bar part was nice enough but the restaurant was kind of yuck. I was shocked that there were so few restuarants on kiawah. Strange. So we gave this place a whirl. Our server was efficient but not friendly. I got a cheeseburger. It was GOOD. The pretzle bun was delish! The fries were not good to me, too crispy. Problem is, as someone already mentioned...you don't have many choices on the island.

Our server was very nice and offered sone good suggestions. The Mac n' Cheese egg rolls were fantastic! However the main course burgers left a lot to be desired. Mine came on a pretzel roll that was very dry and really detracted from the overall experience.

We really enjoyed this place. The food was good. Sandwiches, wraps, salads, nothing fancy but all nicely prepared and delicious. Service was very good. When we went back the second day the same server greeted us and welcomed us back. I think this place is really good.

Pretty standard sports bar/ restaurant atmosphere. I love the make your own salad option. Great for NFL, lots of TVs. Food is also pretty standard bar food.

  • Debbie B.

We went with a party of 7 and said we would split if need be, which of course we were. The only bad was we were split into two different servers sections. The wait wasn't too bad for summer. Create Your Own Chopped Salads were large, and just OK. Tomatoes were cut so tiny. Not the freshest ingredients. Any kind of protein was an additional charge and we noticed on the menu a lot of items were ala carte, or add on charge. In general, prices seemed a little high for what it was. However, one great dish was ordered and it's not on their online menu. Sweet Tea Vodka Marinated Fried Chicken. It was very good. The gravy served with it was unique. I might go back to just order that. Other wise it was just so-so. We had read reviews of the place being smokey and dirty. There were people smoking at the bar, but we didn't really notice it in the room we were in. Didn't notice it being dirty, but not crazy clean either. Service was very good and they did a good job working between our two tables. There were plenty of TVs in the place and they all had a great picture. Convenient location to where we were staying.

  • Mike G.

The food was above average bar food. The service was inexperienced but didn't do too poorly of a job. The manager was on the floor the whole time so I'm sure that helped. I had the garlic wings and a salad. The salad was quite good but the wings lacked a lot of flavor and where dry. I was with 4 other people and they all had no complaints over their food. They have a lot of TVs but we really were in a both where we couldn't see them. Not a big deal since we just went there for lunch. Living out on Seabrook I can see myself catching a couple of Tar Heel games there in the future.

well there's surprisingly not a ton of restaurant choices when visiting kiawah island and, on a week night, expect places to close by 9pm. so the king street grille is a fine choice - but (also surprisingly) doesn't have fresh seafood.. it's pretty much bar food. we had hamburgers and one person got chicken fingers. everything was good but none of the wait staff was particularly friendly which we attributed to their age. overall... it was okay. but... then again, there aren't a lot of other choices so beggars can't be choosers.

This is the second King Street Grille that I have been too and the other one is located in Downtown Charleston near the College of Charleston. I work on Kiawah Island and I love to visit the restaurant on Wednesday when they have half price burgers. I typically get either the Mushroom Swiss burger or the steak wrap they have. (I cant remember what is called sorry). I agree with the last reviewer in that during tourist season the place is hopping. I always go to lunch around 1 pm or 1:30 pm just to let the crowds die down some. The restaurant is clean and the wait staff is very professional and prompt with service. I have also visited this location on Sundays to watch football when the Dallas game is not on local cable channels. There are probably 15 to 20 LCD panels hanging on the walls all through the restaurant. The bar area is the only area with only a couple of screens. The view on the outside of the restaurant over looks a pond where some alligators like to come out and bask in the sun on hot days. Be sure to keep the toddlers and the family pooch close by if you get brave.

Very good. Try the tortilla burger. Lots of choices. Not crowded for a Friday night. Good choice for Seabrooke Island or Kiawa Island.

Note: this is the ONLY bar on Kiawah that has NFL network. Unfortunately, we discovered this on Thanksgiving night when we frantically searched for a place to watch the BAL/SF game. Then we discovered that this place is CLOSED on Thanksgiving! That was horrible. Actually went to this bar a couple days after that horrible incident. It is really nice on the inside and has lots of big TVs. They were playing the georgia/georgia tech game on one giant TV and OSU/Mich game on the other, so no complaints on the entertainment front. However, this was some of the slowest service I have ever experienced. We were there for about 45 minutes and ended up cancelling our order of nachos because we had to leave and they hadn't come out yet. It turns out they hadn't even started making them yet after all that time! And the bar wasn't exactly crowded. On balance, a solid 3/5 stars. I'll be back again if I have time on my hands and want to catch some football.

Went here for Lunch on a busy holiday weekend and the food was worth the 10 minute wait for seating, but were able to order a cocktail in the bar so it was not inconvenient for us. For what you pay for, I would give the food 4.5 stars since the sandwiches and burgers are very high quality and generous proportions. The breads/rolls on our sandwiches appeared to be homemade and delicious. Staff was attentive and friendly, the Manager and other staff helped with the delivery of the food to tables so customers did not have to wait. (The restaurant had several large parties in the dining room) Drink prices were normal for this type of place. Sandwiches and Burgers ranged from $9 to $11 but again, the quality was very high.

So we decided to give King Street Grille another try. Service was slow at first and the food was only average. I had the buffalo chicken sandwich which sadly was sauced so thoroughly it made it impossible to hold as a sandwich and I had to cut it. The restaurant uses a pretzel bun which is so yummy and they had really good waffle fries, though they could have been hot. The highlight to my dinner actually was my overpriced ($4.49) side salad with bleu cheese. Oddly enough, we said we'd never go back the last time we went, yet we went again. I honestly think I can say I won't be back and mean it this time. Don't let my review sway you, if you're in the area it's worth trying, though they are a little pricey.

Came in as there seemed to be little else around. We had the Chicken Chesapeake as it was recommended and it really hit the spot with a little bit of Crab. Burger was decent. Service was good even though there were a group of kids with a family. It is more of a loud sports bar but it served its purpose for decent grub.

Absolutely horrible....They can't perfect two items let alone 30 or 40. Don't waste your time at this dump. Really bad food. Great atmosphere. They have to get better just to be really bad.........Serious as a heart attack.....Plus Ben Roethlisberger is a partner....probably 1%, just like his admission to sexual assault....Don't go here....

Went to King Street Grille on a Friday night in early May around 8 p.m. There were not many people there AT ALL and it took them at least 20 minutes to even acknowledge us. Then it took a very long time to get our drinks and one of the waitresses noticed we were getting poor service and took over our table. After she took over, the service was definitely better, but when you're starving with your kids in tow and no one even asks you what you want to drink for that long, you kinda get turned off and annoyed for the rest of the dinner. Anyways, the food was actually pretty good, but I seriously doubt I'd go back especially if they had a lot of customers.
