I have been hearing about this hamburger restaurant from several folks in the last couple of weeks. Last Saturday my wife and i decided to drive from Goose Creek over to West Ashley to try it out. I had the regular cheeseburger which comes with two meat patties and my wife had the burger with the single meat patty. The menu was pretty simple with not a whole lot of choices. Then again this restaurant is focusing on burgers , dogs , fries and drinks. I was reminded of Checkers with the red and white decorum inside. The restaurant was very clean and the people at the cash register were very polite and efficeint with the ordering process. We only waited for about 5 minutes for our food which was bagged in a brown paper bag even though we were staying there to eat in the diner. When our order number was called the man that appeared to be the manager came out to meet me with our order. That gave me the impression that he was making an effort to make the customers feel special. There was a sign that advertised that their beef is never frozen and is always fresh. We ordered cajun fries and none of the burgers or fries were greasy either. All in all this was a very good experience.

When I'm in the area and my husband asks, "What do you want for dinner?" I always hesitate to say what I'm craving because it just sounds highly inappropriate: "Hunny, I want to eat Five Guys!" But seriously, how can I not say I want Five Guys?! The meat in those burgers are always soooo juicy and tasty. The bonus with this place is that the toppings are unlimited and with no additional charge! So I get to order any topping and sauce that I want... in a bun or wrapped in lettuce. The fries are made to order. So you can bet that your fries haven't been sitting there all day. The fries really reminds me of the fries I would get from hot dog stands in Chicago. They say that food joints that have greasy fries going through the paper bag and are very generous with the servings are the most legit places to find yummy eats. And it's been proven to be true! Five Guys always hooks it up with the fries. One order and it's been more than enough for my family of 5 to share. The restaurant is kept pretty clean and the service is pretty quick. I love the idea of being able to order Five Guys online too. It's guaranteed to be ready by the time I get there. The online system keeps a track of what I've ordered before so that I can just click thru the site and get the order in quickly. I'll be back!

Best burgers around. I don't know how they do it. It's a bit different than your standard burger place. You walk in and order your burger (with or without cheese, one patty or two, with or without bacon), then pick all of your fixings (e.g. onion, lettuce, grilled mushrooms, ketchup, etc.). You get your burger your way. No need to hunt for those pesky pickles if you don't want them on your burger. Nice touches: - If you're ordering two or more burgers, they'll place numbered stickers on the sandwiches to help you remember whose is whose. - They throw everything into a big brown paper bag--reminds me of authentic burger places from big cities - You can get cajun seasoning on your fries if you want - They offer FREE roasted peanuts Notes: The fries are pretty big portions. My husband and I usually split a "little" fry. It's plenty for both of us.

My first visit won't be my last. Came in not knowing anything other than some reviews and a little word of mouth. First impression is the place is very clean. I'm not use to a burger joint being clean, so I was nicely surprised. I walk up to order and the customer service guy (he was way more than a cashier) is super friendly, polite and took a little extra time, because I didn't know what I was doing. All of the sides are included: grilled onions, mushrooms, green peppers, et al.. I took his recommendation and went with grilled onions, A-1, mustard, and I added tomatoes. I love tomatoes. I also ordered a "small" side of fries and a soda. Everything is cooked to order and I must say, exceptionally well prepared. The burger was just caramelize and juicy. There was a really good beef flavor and the tomato was actually good! The grilled onions and A-1 were a good addition and one I shall have again. On a steak - never A-1, but on a burger it was tasty. The "small" order of fries, which the counter waiter said "feeds one person" can easily feed two or be a stand alone meal for one. The fries were hot, crispy and seasoned with what tasted like a mix of Lowry's and salt. The outside had a little crunch and the inside was hot and tender. There was skin on the fries, something I actually liked. I got the regular cheese burger, fries, and a soda for around $11. This could easily feed two people. I felt pretty bad about trashing the remaining fries, but leftover fries - not happening. The burger was good, and I give it 4 stars. The fries, another 4 stars. The customer service was exceptional and gets 5 stars. All in all, between the outstanding service and good food, I will be returning.

I've always enjoyed their burgers, but today the customer service was what thoroughly impressed me. Every staff member I interacted in was enthusiastic, hospitable, and seemed genuinely happy to be there. We brought our dog with us to eat on the patio, and many staff members came out to make sure we had everything we needed and petted our pup. They sealed the 5 star deal by bringing out some burger bits for our dog to enjoy while we were eating-for free! Great place to enjoy a well-priced meal with your dog. We'll be coming back not in hopes of free food but because of such personalized service.

This is my go-to place after a night of indulgence. The cheeseburger will cure what ails you! And the small fry is really a super large fry, tasty but a little too much for me. The price is a little steep for a what is basically semi-fast food, but it is one of the best burgers in town if you are looking for a quick fix.

The burgers cure any hangover a person could have. The place is clean and the staff is nice. Cons: The fries are a little to soggy and for Charleston, the prices are a little too steep.

Everyone always raves about Five Guys and how great it is so I admit I came in with high expectations. First thing I noticed was all the tacky signs saying about how they were voted best burgers. However interior decoration is of minimal importance to me when compared to taste and quality of food... While it's evident the fries are cut fresh they tasted like they had been frozen for a year then fried in oil that hadn't been changed in a few weeks then shoved under a heat lamp for a few hours! The burger was mediocre at best... Soggy buns, sloppy amounts of condiments and tasteless meat (which I assume is why they slather everything on like it's the end of the world). All in all the $9 I spent for only a burger and drinks (my brother got the fries) was WAY over priced for the quality received. The only redeeming quality was the fresh tomatoes and lettuce. Yum! I'm sorry but all you people that try to compare this place to In n Out are severely mistaken... These burgers are more comparable to Jack in the Box, satisfying when craving a burger but nothing special...

If your goal is to have a great burger with loads of topping options this is the place. The burgers and fries are superb. The only issue is that there isn't anything else so hopefully your party are all up for burgers. The fries tend to be offered in huge quantities so unless you are starved I recommend sharing.

Their burgers taste like burgers you cook at home. Their fries are delicious, especially with the malt vinegar they provide. I love that it's real potatoes and beef. It's kinda expensive but you do get what you pay for. The best part is none of it's greasy! (I mean burgers and fries are always greasy, these just aren't like McDonald's greasy.) I wish it wasn't so far out of the way for us though. And I'm a sucker for simple menus. That's my indecisive side.
