This a great location if you want to walk around and enjoy downtown Charleston. The fact that they offer valet parking in their private garage which saves you from driving around looking for parking is benefit enough to stay here!! It is expensive, especially during the holiday weekend we stayed here, but in my mind it was worth it to be close to everything. And, it was in line with the price of all the nearby hotels. The room we had with a king bed felt small, as the bed took up most of the room but it was nice overall.

Wow! Got upgraded to a suite after booking an incredible deal on Priceline. Valet parking is reasonable, especially with the attendants willing to get your car at any moment. The central location is spectacular: 2 blocks to the water and adjacent to the street markets.

AWFUL!! Awkward room, stained sheets, broken equipment, worst housekeeping and terrible customer service are some of the qualities of this hotel! We had a bad stay at this hotel but what happened after our stay was over the top. We forgot a book which had sentimental value to me. We noticed it 2 hours after we checked out and immediately called the hotel. I remembered exactly where I forgot and gave specific instructions to the hotel. They said they'd call back later in the day. Next day we called to check status and had supervisor tell us housekeeping manager was off yesterday so they'll talk today and get back to me. Next day "I" called and still no progress... After 1 week my husband demanded to talk to the hotel GM. He was responsive. He "investigated" but told us that they took all the right steps and we were wrong implying that we were lying in order to get points and offered a lousy 1000 points to make up for it. After we got offended and furious he said he can do 3000 points (1 night = 50000 points). Totally insulting!! We got mad, told the GM to call if he was going to be seriously trying to work things out and never heard back. Every level of leadership in this hotel is disrespectful and Charleston must be a desperate city for this awful hotel to remain in business and still charge over $200 a night. *For further information continue to read below. The Renaissance hotel was over sold so they sent us here to stay. The price is not cheaper although the quality is definitely lower. We were really tired and in need of a decent place which is downtown to crash, so we didnt really have a choice. We stayed at one of the town houses. That was the most ridiculous room I have ever stayed. The room was tiny and the layout was more than weird. Where should I start..There were old stains on the sheets. We had to tweak the tv's antenna cable to be able to watch it. The phone located in the upstairs was broken. When you missed the housekeeping service , all they do is to leave two towels and toilet paper in a trash bag in front of your door. The housekeeping is so inattentive that they didn't even picked out the filled feedback form that is left on the table before us. The only good thing about this hotel is the cookies that they serve when you check in.

This hotel has a killer location if you're looking to be in the heart of historic Charleston. Sure, it sucks paying for valet, but i enjoyed not having the headache of searching for parking and just walking out of the hotel to start our day. It was even nicer ending our day not having to drive back to the hotel after exploring the bars of Charleston. i did use Hilton points to book the room, so the room price didn't factor into my equation. It's a little trek through the courtyard to some of the rooms. We were in 303 and it was great, had a nice view overlooking the courtyard. Our bathroom was one of the biggest bathrooms i've ever seen in a hotel, so based on other reviews, that must vary by room? No complaints with my stay here.

I love this hotel for its location. I can overlook some of the faults, and I still like it, but this particular trip wasn't great... The good stuff: The hotel is right on the market, in the middle of the best part of downtown. The hotel is quaint, with a nice courtyard and a lot of roomy suite-style rooms. The service is good, and very friendly. The rooms are clean and comfortable. The bad stuff: Our room overlooked a roof and windows into the next door restaurant. No view, and not great for privacy. The front room of the suite has no natural light, which makes it very dingy. The bathroom is tiny. On top of that, we had a couple bad things. Our A/C unit was leaking water, which soaked the carpet (and luckily not our stuff). We had to put up with some repairs and a blower running in our room to dry the carpet. That was a pain. We also had a bad room service experience on check-out day. We ordered breakfast in the room to save time so we could get to the airport. We were told 25-30 minutes. I called to check after nearly an hour and was told the order was "on the way." They called back 5 minutes later to clarify our order--showing it hadn't yet been started. When it finally arrived the food was good -- but about an hour later than it should have been, which cramped our schedule. I still like the DoubleTree and will go back, but this particular time (maybe my fourth visit?) was not the best.

This is definitely a great choice if you're looking to be close to all the happenings! I stayed here with a bachelorette party and we were able to walk to meals, bars, shops, and a farmers market. I'm not super familiar with Charleston (read: not at all), but this seemed to be a pretty central location and it met our needs for the weekend. We stayed in two suites, each with two double beds and a pull out couch, which was comfortable for our group of 9. We did five in one, four in the other, and I was in the room with five and it never once felt too crowded. Granted, we didn't spend a ton of time in the hotel, but for the time we did spend at the Doubletree, it suited our group perfectly. It's nothing fancy, but it was clean (super important) and in a great location. Also, the staff was really on top of it when called for a cart to bring our bags down prior to departure. Seriously, they were at our room no more than five minutes after we called down. If you're looking for a home base for a fun weekend, this is a great option.

Perfect location with warm and friendly staff. I stayed here with my family and had a wonderful rest. Room is large enough and very comfortable. You can reach all the best restaurants by walk. Strongly recommended.

Terrific, friendly service and ambience from the time you valet your car at check in until the moment you check out of the hotel. Suites are small, but beds are extremely comfortable. Breakfast is satisfying. Order eggs any style from the waiter. In and out privileges with car parked by valet.

I want to give this property a 3.5. Great location, friendly staff (minus breakfast personnel), good room, disappointing bathroom, disappointing breakfast experience. I used partial points for this leisure stay and we were welcomed with typical friendly staff, warm cookies, and an upgrade to a slightly larger room (I think we went from a room with 2 beds and a sofa to a jr. sweet, which gave us an extra TV and separate bed/living rooms. We found the beds comfortable and were pleasantly surprised that our street-facing rooms didn't mean there was unwanted noise (yay not facing Meeting or Market St.). The furniture in the sitting room wasn't exciting or especially nice, but it was clean & comfortable enough. I'm not a fan of housekeeping stopping by in the evening to leave hard candy, but if you are you are in luck. The bathroom set-up featured the separate toilet and shower/tub with the sink out in the open. I appreciated that the sink was not one of those ridiculously high models that I find in lots of remodeled properties (ugh) and it had plenty of space for two people to unpack. The shower/toilet room was small and as is often the case with this sort of setup there was nowhere to put your stuff while showering by which I men my glasses and clean clothing. I hate resting those things on the tank of the commode. The breakfast buffet was flat out poorly managed. M-F it ends at 10am and on day 1 we arrived around 9-9:30. Ours was included, so the hostess had to check her list(s) for our name & room number. There seemed to be at least two if not three different lists of guests she was checking for our name as the printouts appeared to be formatted differently on the different piles of papers she had. Doubletree: this is not working. A line of people built up behind us. Can we get this staff member a tablet OR just a single list?? Then, we had to wait a few minutes to be assigned a table because although there were empty tables, they had not been cleared or set-up. Doubletree: you need to invest in a busboy for your breakfast service. The waitstaff were obviously overwhelmed by getting people coffee and the very few items they might have requested that were not on the buffet. On day two I wised up and grabbed my own coffee from the service in the lobby as we waited for a table to be cleared. The food on the buffet was unevenly restocked. On day one there was almost nothing on the buffet because it hadn't been replenished (don't worry, I was able to get 3 of the final 6 pieces of bacon). There was some food - cereal, baked goods - but not much else and what was there was minimal and obviously in need of refilling since there were still guests coming in behind us waiting to be seated. Forget requesting a refill on your coffee or water. Just get it yourself from the beverage service in the lobby. I'm not a huge breakfast person, so I rarely go out for it and do not think of myself as overly picky about breakfast service. If you won't hire enough staff to ensure there are clean tables AND coffee and other things are delivered you should almost just downgrade to a serve & bus yourself breakfast room like a lower level property would have. The set-up here could not handle busy late weekday mornings. Bellhops were available when we needed them (to store our luggage) and the taxi they ordered for later in the day was waiting for us as promised. They make use of a nicer grade of taxi service too, which is nice (I don't take that for granted). Thank you for making our departure smooth and providing great service to restore our faith in the property's service. Overall, I'm really glad I had enough points to cover the cost of half of our stay because it is a more expensive part of Charleston to stay and because of the segments that were a disappointment. You know how you always receive a survey after staying at a property? Yeah, I didn't get one of those, which leads me to believe that the management is less concerned with folks' feedback on this property because it is newer and in a great location. Yes, we have come to the day when not receiving a survey makes people suspicious.

I just stayed here this past weekend and was blown away by the excellent service and clean rooms, as well as the location. As soon as I walked in, the curteous, welcoming staff welcomed me at the door with smiles and were very accomodating. I asked last minute if I would be able to use my Hilton points, and they helped me work with Hilton Honors to make this last minute change. They also upgraded me for the weekend- woo hoo! My room had a pretty good view of Downtown Charleston from the top floor with lots of natural light. Everything was really comfortable and the room was extremely clean. The hotel is valet parking only, but at $22 (compared to the $20+ for self parking anywhere around the area) it was extremely worth it. The valet were extremely friendly and curteous, always offered to help with bag (if we had any), and it was so nice to be able to just walk out the door to our car instead of trekking to it (it was pretty rainy the weekend we visited). Breakfast here was so-so. There are so many wonderful restaurants in Charleston that I'd really recommend going somewhere else. The staff was friendly, but the food was only okay. We tried it on the first morning as it was complimentary with our stay that weekend, but opted for other breakfast places on the other days. Location of this hotel, as everyone else has stated, is PRIME. It's right next to City Market and only a short walk away from everything else downtown. We only used our car to go to Mt. Pleasant, across the bridge. Seriously, everything is so close- the waterfront, tons of restaurants/bars, shops, art galleries, churches.....the list goes on. The location and service of this hotel is what really make it. I felt so welcome and comfortable- I'd return in a heartbeat. Fantastic.

Room was clean, the front desk was friendly immediately offering directions for our dinner reservations and bringing out a map for us. Our car was unpacked for us and our bags brought to our room by an extremely polite and helpful young man. Could the couch in our room be upgraded, yes but that's my only negative comment. The Bed is very comfortable and the location is amazing. We are already discussing adding another night to our stay we are so happy.

Charleston is my favorite southern city. The hotel's location in historic Charleston is amazing. We had a problem with our suite being on 2 floors and with the way the front desk initially responded. But I was very happy when a manager contacted me and then compensated me for the problem. I certainly will stay at this hotel again.

I have been a long time Hilton Honors member, as well as an owner with Hilton Grand Vacation Club. My family and I have stayed at many Hilton brand hotels over the years and have never had an issue like the one we just experienced at the Doubletree Hotel on Church Street in Charleston, SC. My husband and I stayed one night on Friday, July 26th, 2013. When we received the bill, there was a $1 charge for a "Charleston Police Fund Donation." When I inquired at the front desk about this forced donation, I was informed that the franchise owner of the hotel was on the board of this organization, and he advised the front desk personnel that they were to charge every customer this fee. Furthermore, I was told that they were not required to ask permission or even inform the customer about the charge. Of course, if a customer complained, the charge would be removed. It is my understanding that posting an unauthorized charge to someone's credit card is against the law. However, that is what just occurred at this hotel. I'm not questioning the value of this organization, and I'm not going to go broke over a dollar. However, using your position as a hotel owner to "steal" money from your customers is not legal, ethical, or justifiable. As a Hilton franchisee, this reflects on the Hilton name. I am appalled that Hilton would allow this type of illegal activity. Forcing every patron to donate to your choice of charitable organization by way of an unauthorized credit card charge is not ok!

Our party of 4 adults and 3 kids booked this through Priceline. We got a fabulous price and were in a terrific location. The employees were helpful in helping the Hubs & Brother find a parking space for our ginormous SUV. Still, the cleanliness of the suite left something to be desired. It could've been cleaned a little better. As for as location and price...TERRIFIC!! Just make sure the room is cleaned better.

Went here for a weekend get away. The hotel is situated just next to market street and on the beautiful church street in Charleston. The hotel has a great front desk service that are very friendly and helpful organizing dinners, ... The rooms are roomy and we had a split room with living-room and bedroom. The living room is small but convenient. We had a good bed that is comfortable to sleep in. The cleaning of the bathroom was questionable. The bathrooms are also a bit dated. One get s the sense that this was once a great hotel, but management is really not on top of operations. The hotel has happy hours 5-7 everyday, but it is not much of a bar. There is no pool, .... so be prepared. This is a place to sleep! They have a breakfast buffet, that is OK but the selection is limited. For anything extra you have to order from the kitchen and the service is SLOW. Like waiting 15 minutes for a plain omelet. Could be a good experience if they tried a little harder.

So still continuing with the Charleston weekend, we had to have some place to crash, but I was surprised by the Doubletree on a few fronts. First, it was expensive....like NYC prices?!?!?! I realize this place is smack dab in the middle of everything but this is Charleston..... So let's talk about what they don't have..........they doesn't have a pool???? They don't have a rooftop deck area????? But do give you a warm cookie if you ask nicely? And the cookies are actually good. The rooms...at least the ones we stayed in were like little townhomes. Two stories with only 1 bathroom, 2 beds and a pull out bed from the couch downstairs. Valet service is available which in a town with very little available street parking I'd recommend you take advantage of it. From the hotel you are steps away from the Market and close to everything. I found out later there are plenty of nicer hotels and B&B (which includes breakfast and afternoon cocktails) that are in this hotels price range, so if you are going to stay in Charleston/Battery proper just upgrade as you'll get nicer accommodations and more perks at or around the same price.

Eh....great location, but that's about it.... Stayed here last month for a work function. The rooms were average - could use some updating as I've stayed in newer, much nicer Doubletree's before. Rooms are also VERY small - at least mine was. The bathroom vanity was outside of the bathroom, near the bed...strange. Beds were comfy, stay was quite which I always appreciate. The biggest challenge of this place is the layout. It's quite a walk from the room to the valet section to get your car - valet space is also very small and only 1-2 guys working, so expect to wait for your car. The doors from the outside going in are VERY narrow....made it quite difficult to get in with your suicases. I appreciate that it's an older building thus narrow doors, possibly odd layout, but found it annoying for me stay. Overall not bad for the price and location.

Other than the location the hotel is very non-descript. The price of almost 300 bucks a night is extremely high for the quality and cleanliness of the room. Please get some mildew remover for the bathroom. I had a bi-level suite that opened onto the courtyard. The bathroom and vanity were too small for much of anything. There is no room for luggage in the upstairs bedroom. The noise from adjoining rooms was extremely loud. I appreciate historic hotels--but they can and should be in immaculate condition. With all of that said--the location of the hotel was amazing. The staff was polite. However, even though I am a die-hard Hilton guy, I will likely not stay again at this tired and dated Hilton property when I go back to Charleston unless the price is more in line with its quality.

This hotel has an amazing location in the historical district of Charleston. 5 stars for the location. I found the service here to also be great. I stayed here for a week, and by the end of the week, the staff working in the restaurant made a point to know my name! There are tons of great restaurants in walking distance around the hotel. There are also plenty of cool things to see around the area, and these are all within walking distance of this hotel. The only negatives here are the high price. You pay a pretty high price for a small room, but in my opinion, the location is worth putting up with the smaller room. I also found that the wifi was very slow, but that still wasn't enough to upset me. If you have never been to Charleston before, I highly recommend staying here!

We took a quick trip to Charleston and with only about a week's notice and a lot of things were booked. I looked at a lot of hotels like French Quarter Inn, Charleston Place and some B&Bs and they are were 250 and up a night. Some of the other hotels (Holiday Inn etc) were booked. So, we stayed here even though the reviews on Yelp are horrible (trip advisor was a little better). The price here was $80 less a night. Here was my experience on the things I dealt with. We had a true suite. There was a room with a couch, chair desk, table, mini bar, fridge etc with lots of room. The bedroom was spacious. The bathroom was really small, but I can live with that. I was a little nervous because we were on the ground floor and I hoped that people going to the bars and walking around, but I never heard anything. The room was clean. Parking was bit pricey but whatever. It's 17-20 at lots of hotels in places with limited parking. The valets were really quick and I didn't have to wait long for them to bring my car around. The lack of a pool kind of sucks, but knew that going in (can still wish though right?). Basically, you're paying for location. The location is close to everything in the historic district. I didn't watch TV at all, but thought it was odd that the living room had a tube TV and the bedroom had a flat panel. Would have expected some continuity. There was an odd noise (somewhat mechanical) coming from below. I have no idea what it was but it wasn't loud enough for me to complain, but if you're a light sleeper, make sure you aren't on the first floor. Overall, it was fine but I will probably stay at one of the super nice hotels next time.

Clean comfortable rooms get them 3 stars. Abysmal service deducts two. No one offers to carry bags. No help finding room (in ancillary building). Building very difficult to find, and person on phone provided no help. Whoever runs this place needs to be fired, stat. Wifi didn't work. Person at front desk said they would call back. Never did. Eventually figured it out. Of course, they jam you $10 for access. (Whatever, it's an excise tax on those who work.)

I may have had higher expectations than this place deserved. With the word "suites" in the name, I would have thought the rooms would have a fridge at least. Not mine. Even though I got an upgrade, it seems to only have given me a balcony in which the door would not open fully on due to how shallow it was. Could barely fit, and it overlooked an alley. Thanks for the upgrade. The people were nice, the room average, the air/heat loud, the TV changed channels slowly, the hot water could boil peanuts, and the coffee maker was on a tiny stand that would make you laugh. I promise to upload a photo some day. For the money, stay elsewhere. I will next time.

Although a bit on the pricey side for event weekends (like the Cooper River Bridge Run), this hotel is located right in the heart of the historic district and within walking distance to the market, fantastic shopping and great restaurants. And with a free warm cookie upon arrival, how could we possibly complain? Our room was plenty big for two people, very clean, and had a small balcony. Obviously with this being the historic district, the buildings are on top of each other so not a great view, but come on - why would you book a room in the historic district and expect one? Get outside and walk around; so much to see/eat/buy, so little time! There are a ton of restaurants within a one block walk and a tiny bar area within the hotel that serves breakfast in the morning and drinks the rest of the day (we couldn't get into any of the rooftop bars due to the CRBR crowd, so went back to the hotel and sat in the courtyard where Chris, the bartender, served us drinks in the afternoon - bonus - no crowds and spectacular service!). Free coffee/hot tea in the morning and a Dunkin Donuts right around the corner if you want to grab a cheap breakfast before embarking on your day of activities. Only (minor) complaint was that the temperature in our room kept getting hot and cold without touching the thermostat; guessing because it's an old building and not enough to deter us from staying there again. Be sure to take advantage of the valet parking. Might seem steep at $20 a day, but they are quick to get your car and parking is at a minimum in this area.

Loved this hotel...and it was because of the customer service we received. A group of my friends stayed here for the bridge run and the hotel is nice and in a good location. Unfortunately there was an issue with the hot water. While this was inconvenient, the hotel went above and beyond to fix the issue and covered our room rate for the entire weekend. You don't get that type of service these days. I will definitely go back in the future.

Outrageous price for what you get. It is advertised as "suites" but I had an ordinary, small hotel room...no fridge, no room for a sofa, absolutely not a suite. No pool. No restaurant. No bar. For that kind of money I would have at least expected that. No airport shuttle. But great location. The staff, friendly and accomodating. I would not stay here again. Outrageous price for the low level of what you receive.

    (1)
  • Lauren B.

Under construction. Loud banging and construction workers as my view during the day. Also a strong paint remover smell permeating the lobby and halls all day. My other complaint is noise! I can hear every word my neighbors say in the living room part of my suite. Planned on putting my toddler in that room at night and it isn't working out. Location is great though and the staff is friendly. Room is clean but a bit worn and the bathroom is tiny and really like the bathroom of a 1 star hotel....cracks everywhere, a hospital quality shower curtain that leaks and floods the bathroom.... Okay if you are just concerned about location. I don't think I'll be back.

Stayed for 3 nights. 3 stars for the room, 1 star for the service. Room: -Clean -Comfortable bed -Small bathroom, poor water pressure -Suite with pull out couch was perfect for our family of four. -Paper thin walls = one of the noisiest rooms I have ever stayed in. I could literally follow conversations from the room next to me. Service -Really, $10/day for internet access?? Ridiculous. -Despite the hotel knowing that we had 4 people in our room, every day we got 3 bath towels and every day I had to call to request more. -Every day had to call to receive the paper that was part of my room rate. Was not delivered once. -Took 25 minutes to get help with luggage and our car ($22/day to park) when we checked out. Was told they lost our request. -Did not get the promised turn down service for the entire stay. Basically, the location of this hotel is superb. But despite that, I would not stay here again. There are other options and the Doubletree was a disappointment.

Very close to the Market. Excellent base to walk and see downtown. There are various rooms here, Some two room, some single rooms. Mostly remodeled now. With nice TV's. Can not beat the freee cookies. Parking is expensive is really the only downside.

This ended up being a great place to stay! It was smack down in the middle of it all in Charleston, SC! We were able to valet the car and walk to everything. I really liked the rooms since they were suites. Perfect if you were staying with another couple or a group of friends and wanted to separate the rooms and have some sort of privacy. We ended up with a fantastic king suite facing the front of the hotel and had a beautiful view of the city. The sunlight filled the bedroom and living room and it was very clean. It was nice to have access to two TVs as well as a mini fridge to store perishable food. If I had to complain about anything it would be the small bathroom and the 8:00 bang on the door from housekeeping. Besides that, everything was perfect and I enjoyed the free warm Chocolate Chip Cookies at check-in!

Yep, it's expensive. What'd you expect? It's a Doubletree. It's in a premium down town location. No, parking ain't cheap -- $20 plus tip valet; $14 self park around the corner on Hayne Street (not owned by the hotel). Again what'd you expect? Of course like many nicer hotels there's a $10 per day charge for wi-fi (although I suspect Hilton Honors members might be able to get that fee waved with a "Hilton HHonors Guest Pass" I received a pass because I was there on a negotiated group rate, and our negotiator got free access for all of us, and the above phrase was on the log-in information card. If you belong to HHonors I think you should ask.) Does that cover the typical complaints? NOw to the good stuff. The staff could not have been nicer and more friendly, whether I approached them at their work stations or passed them in the hall. From the person who met our car and offered to carry our bags to the cleaning crew, all seemed glad we were there. I had a wonderful room in the newer added-on building. You get there by walking across a large interior courtyard. I think you'd get damp crossing it in the rain, because there is no completely covered path from the main building to this one. Room had a hi-def TV attached to a Comcast box (I understand from someone else at the meeting that is not the TV option in the main building). Initially it did not work. A call to the front desk and a gentleman from engineering arrived to check it out in less than 5 minutes. Turned out problem was just some loose wires between the cable box and the TV. Quickly repaired. Football game on! The hotel location was supreme. We could easily walk to anything in the downtown tourist area--which of course was part of the high room cost. Would I stay again? yes. Would I think it was darned expensive? you bet. But I got what I paid for.

The Doubletree was a bit pricey, especially considering I've stayed in luxurious boutique hotels in Chicago and Atlanta for LESS. They even make you pay an unreasonable amount for internet access!! I notice many upper echelon hotels are making people PAY for something that SHOULD be included with the room (especially at the price point). WiFi is a way of life these days, not a luxury. That said, we always got clean towels, a thorough housekeeping job on the room and very nice valets/bellmen. It's close to many different attractions and the location is pretty primo. The venue still needs some updating and improving, and definitely a good polishing. Upon observation the environment, objects, walls, railings, even the steel in the elevators appeared, dirty, worn and dingy. I also would like to see if they could inject some air conditioning in the elevators, it's only a few second ride, nonetheless you're workin' up a sweat until those doors open (especially in that Charleston heat). I didn't really spend too much time in the facility, since I was busy with all my Spoleto itinerary. I would say the Doubletree is definitely a nice place to stay when visiting the area, but I have a feeling there are nicer and friendlier accommodations for the money spent here. I'll be looking for a B & B or something a bit more charming and personal when I return. However, that said, I will point out that when I was checking out, I got to see a certain celebrity chef checking in, so it's gotta be pretty good.

I have loved doubletree for their roomy suites- meaning two rooms- breakfast included and a nice pool. This hotel featured none of those. A small but comfortable room but in this heat a pool would have been a welcomed relief. Also what is the deal with having to pay for wireless?! For nearly $200 per night, why isn't it included?

I was doing a southern road trip with my best friend. Charleston was next on our agenda. We had been so happy with the trip so far. We arrived at the hotel at about 2pm. Valet was confusing as there was no sign and valets were not around. At front desk our room wasn't ready until 4. I understand check-in wasn't until 4 anyway, but staff was rude and somewhat cold. When we did get in the room it was beautiful but the hotel layout was very confusing. They had redone an old building in the back and this is were the room was located. The old building had a terrible smell and seemed dirty. When we went to the concierge to purchase a tour he seemed more concerned with his dinner plans over his cell phone rather than helping us. When retrieving our car to drive to the beach the valet was rude and short. When handing me my keys he held out his other hand waiting for the tip. To top all of this off, when we did check out I noticed $2 on my bill for the Charleston police department fund. Now this is only $2 and I have no problem giving to the police department but to not even ask and to add this to my bill... Once I brought this to front desk she responded with a ,"yeah yeah," and removed it. Makes me think how many people don't check there receipts. I'm sure there are good workers but the staff that we encountered was rude and seemed to be annoyed to be bothered with customers. I will never stay at this hotel again and would suggest to everyone to choose another place to stay.

Decent location downtown, but considering how expensive it is, you get a lot more for your money at other locations that are within blocks of this hotel. For instances, Embassy Suites is only a few blocks away, is generally about $10 cheaper, has more room, has a fridge in the room, has a pool, free breakfast and happy hour. The last time time I stayed here, the light switch in the bathroom did not work. i let them know the first night, but five days later, still not fixed. The parking is completey unsatisfactory. If often took at least ten minutes to get my car in the morning -- this would be ok if they were busy, but in the a.m.s, I was often the only one in 'line', but apparently they need a line to get moving? Do not get why this hotel is so expensive for what little if offers. in addition to the Embassy Suites, Hampton Inn, Holiday Inn, and several local hotels are withing blocks of this place so location does not justify the price.
