The cornbread and butter were delicious. The hickory smoked wings were delicious. I loved it. I love you.

3.5. Definitely a nice atmosphere. Great looking place on the inside. Mason jar lights, and a nice selection of bottles. The platter I had was split between the pulled chicken and pulled pork. Both were smoked really, really well. Maybe the best around. Given that this was the first time in, I will re-visit to try out the consistency. The flavor, however, was behind Swig and Swine's pulled pork (they have nailed it). The collard greens were really good (stayed hot throughout the lunch), and the mac and cheese had a good flavor. All in all, everything was cooked very well, but the flavor could use a kick. Our waitress explained the four BBQ sauces (that we all know and love), and they do have their own spicy vinegar to add to your collards. Very nice. Prices were competitive-about the same you would pay anywhere for the platter. They had possibly up to 10 local beers on tap, and was that a Cumberland Smokehouse brew I saw on the menu? I hope these guys are successful...after the building was Moe's, and Egan and Sons, in that amount of time, it usually doesn't bode well for the incoming business...

The wings were outstanding and needed no additional sauce. The cornbread was a delicious accompaniment. The pulled pork sandwich was good, but not remarkable and the amont of pork on the bun was on the skimpy side for the price. The pork rinds were served hot and delicious - I just would have enjoyed more seasoning on them. The mac 'n cheese has a good flavor but servrd at room temperature. We probably will not return however due to the awful service. It took over 20 minutes to get any food and they brought the apps with the entree. The server was MIA most if the time and I had to chase him down to get our check and then again to take payment. Might return again for the wings, but no strong pull to return.

Some of the best bbq pork I've had. The pork was slow smoked to perfection. Mac and cheese side was tasty. Squash casserole was awesome and very tasty. Duck fries appetizer was good but a tad on the over fried side. Three choices of bbq sauce on the table is a nice touch. Service was excellent. Waiter was knowledgable and knew the menu well. Atmosphere is warm and inviting. Plenty of tv's to watch sports. Value is good. $10 for sandwich and one side is a good value.

Apparently this place is among the newer restaurants to the area. Past lunch time but not quite dinner, my crew and I were looking for a place to have some afternoon drinks and appetizers. We sat at the bar and had the most amazing service from the bartender who are friendly and very knowledgeable. Happy hour brought on something like $3-5 mixed drinks w house liquor, beers and $2 off bourbon. For food we shared the below: Loaded BBQ duck fat fries: loaded meant BBQ pulled pork, melted cheese and fried in ahhh, duck fat - overall you can't go wrong. The fries were not even soggy. Wings: perfectly smoked and crispy. VERY GOOD WINGS. Came with 3 sauces - two different BBQ and a decent mustard. Ended up ordering a second round bc they were so good. Brisket sandwich w collared greens: the hubby had this - claimed it was smoky, soft and "great BBQ." The collared greens were even tasty! If you're looking for a break from walking around Charleston and have a craving for BBQ, I would recommend this place!

Given the other stellar reviews, I'm guessing Cumberland Smokehouse was just having an off-night when I chose to visit. The Good: * The service - friendly, attentive staff * They were running a nice Monday night special which we took advantage of. * The pulled pork was very tender. * The pulled chicken had a very nice smokiness. The bad: * The pork while very tender was lacking in flavor. * The pulled chicken had the flavor but was very very dry. * The baked beans were scalding hot. I lost a few taste buds. * The mac & cheese was inedible. It looked amazing but had a very odd twang to it. Mac & cheese is one of my favorite dishes. And I gave it a pretty fair four bite try. But I ended up just having to leave it.

Great food. Great drinks. Great service. Great atmosphere. Get the brisket burnt ends appetizer. Did I mention the burnt ends? Get them! Bring a friend, add a side of cornbread, and enjoy $3 bourbons for a delicious, laid-back happy hour session. (Even on Saturdays!) Or go all out on a full meal of pulled pork and sides. Insiders tip: ask for Neil to make you a margarita.

We stumbled in while looking for a happy hour. Decent drinks, but no food on special for happy hour :( Not very busy for a Friday evening. Menu is a bit limited... We did opt to try the wings, and were actually very impressed with how much flavor they had. The sauces weren't particularly special, but the wings were delicious by themselves. This place runs a little pricey for barbecue, but it seems pretty legit and high quality. The servers were super attentive.

Great atmosphere. Very reasonably priced. Very personable wait staff. Being a vegetarian, I was a bit nervous about my party choosing a smokehouse. Luckily, the side dishes are all vegetarian. They offer a side dish meal with many side options. Highly recommend the mac n cheese and baked beans. And the sweet tea is great.

Great food, even though the menu is small. Service is great, drinks are plentiful, and the barbecue is on point. The loaded fries are amazing, and don't let the "duck fat" part of the name throw you off. Great stuff without the crazy Charleston wait times.

The pulled chicken and sweet potato soufflé were fabulous. The brisket sloppy joe was very tasty. The duck fat fries were really good! The banana pudding was excellent! The service was great! Looking forward to going back soon.

Definitely poor barbecue. We had fries and the pulled pork platter. BBQ was very greasy, and the grease dominated the flavor. Drinks were fine. Skip this place and try Smoke on King St. instead - it was much better.

First off the positives: Good location, nice atmosphere, happy hour pricing was good, and the chips, queso and salsa was amazing. The negatives: The pulled pork and pulled chicken was not that good, the baked beans were awful and the shallot vinaigrette was awful but on the plus the side salad was fresh.

I was a little worried when we walked in and there weren't many patrons, even on a extremely busy Saturday night over a 3 day holiday weekend. We came here because most other restaurants had over an hour wait even tho it was 8:30 pm. We were glad we ate here. We ordered the loaded duck fat fries which were excellent. Each of us ordered something different, the pulled pork, pulled chicken, catfish, and brisket burnt ends. All very good except the brisket burnt ends were a little too fatty. Collard greens and red rice were very good. The pulled pork hash over rice as a side was just ok because the rice hadn't been cooked enough and was still a little hard. Good selection of local beers. The bartender even gave us samples before ordering what we liked. The bourbon flight had a good selection as well. It's reasonably priced for downtown historic Charleston. Nice atmosphere. We would eat here again if in the area. I forgot to add in the review that we had the banana pudding for dessert. It was very yummy and I would definitely recommend it.

A bit off the beaten path (kind of tucked away) we had high hopes for the barbecue here. Have been in the place before when it was Eagan & Sons. The interior is pretty much the same - wait staff is very welcoming. Nice bar and a lot of beer choices - except no Blue Moon which was odd. Came at lunch and ordered a couple of salads. They were fresh but run of the mill, big chunks of lettuce which I am not a fan of. The barbecue chicken and pork we tried on the side was pretty good but I don't feel like the food will sustain the place in a town loaded with options.

Good food and service. The brisket was delicious & the sides were alright. The portions are on the small side but the selection of their beers were great.

Went back again this weekend. No burned brisket tips. The ribs were very good, as was everything else.

I must have hit an off day. My pork sandwich was cold, side portion of potato salad was small and my waitress was more interested in participating in a conversation with a guy sitting at the bar using foul language every other word. I could tolerate the obscenities if the barbecue was good but it was really disappointing. I've had better barbecue at Arby's! Sorry.

Was craving some BBQ and this fit the bill. Enjoyed the pulled pork. Was given the choice of 3 sauces (traditional red BBQ sauce, vinegar based BBQ sauce, & a mustard based BBQ sauce). The vinegar was my personal favorite.

Inside is really nice. Very small menu and can't up charge to get a side of fries.. Pork fat honey butter was gross..Pulled pork was really good the brisket was bland but over all experience was better then boat BBQ joints in charleston

The newest Tavern on the Charleston scene according to our tour guide. We stopped and wish we had more time. Has the 3 B's. BBQ, Bourbon and Beer. How much better can it get. Great selection of craft beer and an amazing selection of bourbons. We only had time (we were with a tour group) for one drink and food. We had the wings. They're smoked for 4-5 hours. Amazing. Make sure you don't miss this place. Neal was great behind the bar.

Solid barbeque and nice selection of sides. They have a selection of the three classic-SC sauces on the tables (vinegar, mustard, tomato). The pulled pork was a bit on the greasy side but not bad. Service was lightning fast since there was literally only one other table--which was strange given the location (right off E. Bay and a block from the Market/cruise ship gauntlet) and time off day (12:30). Looked like they have a nice drink selection too (with two bars). Seems like a decent place, hope they can stick around longer than the last place that was in that location.

Great bar and bbq experience! Staff is very fun and friendly. Wings are amazing - no sauce needed! Highly recommend for a relaxing place for a drink and meal. We ended up hanging out for the evening. Bartender Neal was wonderful - great stories, drinks and conversation with bar patrons. A must try location. We will definitely be back!

"A little sweet, a little heat, all yummy in the tummy' is how my knowledgable bartender Danielle described one of the three barbecue sauces for my pulled pork sandwich, piled high with a mound of pork and a side of Mac n cheese. Best barbecue I've had in Charleston so far.

These are the first of many 5 star reviews that Cumberland I'm sure will receive. Stopped by this restaurant just before kitchen was closing, and while it was late at night I was impressed by how friendly and welcoming the staff were. Beer menu was very good, and drink selection on it's own would have made this place a winner. The food was killer. We had ribs that were fall off the bone tender with a delicious dry rub. Wings were also phenomenal. Portions are nice and big and the muffins were moist and soft. This restaurant is a winner!

Walked there from my hotel and very glad I stopped by. Good staff and great food. Had a few local beers and a strong bourbon and coke. Worth a visit for food and/or a drink.

There is some good and bad. Duck fat fries, solid, of course. BBQ, flavorful, but overdone and tough. Eating the ribs was actually difficult, vs meat falling off the bone. The pulled pork was better than the brisket, but still, both required sauce to be juicy enough to eat. Beer and liquor selection was 100% acceptable for a BBQ place, and let me go on the record with $3 bourbons during happy hour is an excellent deal. The atmosphere was enjoyable, and not too loud considering the crowd. Lastly, the waitress was super friendly and attentive. I'd come back, but its not on the top of my list; just get the cook time down for your ribs and keep that Bourbon around for $3 and I'll stumble back in eventually.

Absolutely AMAZING!!!! we went in with 5 adults and 3 children under 8. Ordered 2 family meals and a wing app with duck fat fries (just normal fries super crispy and hot!!! YUM). We rolled out of there stuffed and happy with food to take home! A must if downtown in Charleston.

Awesome place. Everything we ate was delicious, but the real standouts were the chicken wings which had a great smokey flavor and the ribs that literally fell off the bone. They have a good local beer selection and make their Bloody Mary with bourbon (I'm not sure I wholeheartedly endorse this, but it's worth trying). Nice atmosphere and friendly staff.

This place was awesome; as far as food goes, they do a few things really well. Pulled pork was really good, chicken wings were the best I've ever had. I like to drink soda when I eat, but my friend had a Fig Old Fashioned that he says was very tasty. The best part of our experience was our server Danielle, who was as charming as can be, something a Yankee from Jersey is not accustomed to at a restaurant. She was attentive, efficient and also managed to tend to the bar without missing a step on either side. Unfortunately, I'm heading home tmrw. I will definitely be back when I'm here and highly recommend it to anyone who likes BBQ

This place just opened a few days ago, but I am glad I stumbled upon it. I had their daily special which were Pork Belly tacos and it was awesome! Sampled a few of their local draft beers and they had a decent selection of bourbons and ryes. I have seen a larger selection of whiskeys, but the variety was what got me. Friendly staff, great location and a good vibe. I will be back!

We showed up to the restaurant at 11:30am on a Friday. The dining room was empty which was surprising being in the high traffic area they are located. Brisket was on special which was a pleasant surprise. I asked the server if they were cutting from the point or the flat and she didn't have any idea of what I was talking about. The waitstaff of a smokehouse should have basic BBQ knowledge. We ordered the family style with brisket, chicken, and pulled pork. When the food arrived I was surprised to see that the brisket didn't have a traditional smoke ring. The chicken was dry and the pork was mediocre. For sides we ordered the mac & cheese, red rice, squash casserole, baked beans, and close slaw. The mac & cheese, as well as the squash casserole, had a puddle of grease on the sides. Not appetizing at all. The baked beans were flavorless as if they had just been shoveled from a can and cooked without any effort. The red rice was mushy with too much tomato base. The main reason we picked this place was they are known for their dessert of banana pudding with Krispy Kreme Doughnuts mixed in with the pudding. The waitress explained that they were out and that the next batch was settling to be served later that evening. This was just another disappointment to a less than satisfying meal. I hope their dinner service is better than lunch. This establishment does not represent traditional southern BBQ.

2500 miles to taste the much talked about but rarely tasted Blackberry old fashioned, AMAZING! Neal took care of us with wonderful articulate conversation and perfect suggestions for food and drink. Whatcha know about those smoked wings and three different BBQ sauce bases on the side..FOR THE WIN!! The music is perfect and so is the time you spend. Just make sure Neal is there, he makes it awesome! Dooooooo IIIIIIIIIIITTTTTTTTT Y'ALL!!

It is good food, but incredibly greasy. By the time I ate half my sandwich the grease had soaked completely through the bun to the plate in a puddle.

Meh, nothing about this place was better than average. I find it hard to mess up bbq, but they did.

Great happy hour deals with $2 bourbon, $2 mystery beer, and $3 wells. Brisket was on special and was excellent as was the wings and the Mac and cheese is legit. Laid back spot with good times.

After great deliberation the bartender offered to split a platter of pulled pork and pulled chicken specially for us. We wern't that hungry but knew that we should eat and couldn't decide between the two so she jumped in and helped out. Can argue with service like that unfortunately we didn't get to test much else but what we did taste we liked. A lot! The wait staff was friendly and very very helpful. We're trying to find a way to get back over there in our short time left in Charleston.
