Location Location Location - this is a prime location and within walking distance to restaurants, harbor, park, city market, bars, etc. Room 230: The rooms are loft style with the beds and bathroom upstairs w/ half bath downstairs. We got a great room with a view to the courtyard. The kitchen and bathroom had all updated appliances with granite countertops. The beds were comfortable, but I wish they had firmer pillows. Our room had a historic and classic (think Bombay Company Furniture) design very fitting with the historical city that is Charleston. There's a side exit door from right outside our room that led straight to the courtyard onto the main street to avoid any awkward sales guy pitches from their timeshare program. Parking is $20/day and it's parked half a block from the hotel. You can have valet guy pull up your car (8am-8pm) or go to the garage yourself and go in/out as you please - so convenient when you want to go to the beach or outside of downtown.

The company owns a timeshare company called 'Festiva' that tricks tourists into taking a "city tour" which consisted of about 20 mins. The next 40 mins were spent being lectured by an ill-mannered man. He stopped his lecture to yell at me to put my phone away. My phone was on silent and I was sitting in a corner, not disturbing anybody. Everybody looked at me and I was flabbergasted that the situation occurred. I've spent thousands upon thousands of hours to become a doctor and not be talked down to be some ignorant sleeze ball who makes a living off tricking crowds into a room(promising free vouchers for events) and high pressure sales tactics to buy their time shares. The total time for the entire tour & presentation was promised to be 2 hrs or less. I finally got free and received my vouchers around the 2:45 mark. Conclusion:! Do not let yourself fall into the "info kiosks" scattered thru the city that promise free vouchers.

Very friendly staff and beautiful hotel. I love the artwork and the apartment like rooms, really made my stay special. The vallet was incredible! Sweet guys with southern charm and great suggestions for what to do in charkeston.

The hotel, is small but charming. The hotel and rooms feature great interior design - I walked away with a couple design ideas for my new house. The location is perfect, right in the middle of everything. Charleston is truly a "walking city," so you'll have no trouble leaving the car with valet and walking everywhere you need to go. We got great service while we were there - the bell hop, valet & front desk staff all went out of their way to provide very personal service. A lot of it was the little things, like when the bellhop when to pick up our bags while we were on a tour, he kept our leftovers in the staff fridge until we returned, and had our car packed and waiting for us, all without us having to ask. I definitely felt like VIP while staying at Church Street Inn. The one bedroom units are very well appointed, with a small kitchen, living room with pullout couch, and half bath on the first floor, and a bedroom and full bath on the second. The hotel lacks the typical big-hotel amenities (gym and pool, etc), but we didn't miss any of it. Otherwise, the only downside to Church Street Inn is that it's technically a timeshare property, and the timeshare association has a big sales office there. That means they'll constantly try to pitch you to sit in on their sales pitch. They'll give you a bunch of swag if you do, so it's up to you if it's worth your time... Hint: if you get an iced tea or soda from Food for the Southern Soul in the market across the street, you get free refills so long as you hold onto the cup. Also, there's a bar across the street that's open to 2am and serves amazing deserts (we may or may not have stuck down at 1am in our PJs to takeout a midnight snack).

Location, location, location! This was such a nice alternative to a traditional hotel, having 2 levels, a full kitchen, & a cool balcony overlooking the market. We visited over spring break mid/week so it was perfect weather for a glass of wine in the evening. I can imagine that it could get noisy on a busy weekend though if you are a light sleeper. The room we stayed in had not been updated as it sounds like some of the others have been, which is probably the only thing that could've made our stay even better. Charleston is such a walking town and this puts you right in the heart of everything. All of the staff we encountered were helpful & friendly. It is $20 for parking and they offer in/out valet, which was very convenient when we wanted to head to the beach for the day. Would definitely stay with them again.

Quaint and in a great location. Rooms are like little apartments. We had an upstairs sleeping area while the downstairs had a sitting area, complete kitchen and another bathroom. Unfortunately we were situated across from housekeeping who doesn't think to use their inside voices when they arrive before 8am!

The Church Street Inn is a fantastic place to stay should you ever have the opportunity. The best aspect of this hotel is the location, location, location. Situated just south of the public market on a quiet section of Church Street, the hotel is in middle of the downtown area and an easy walking distance to just about everything you'd want - historic mansions, museums, fine dining, boutique shopping, etc. Popular carriage, walking and ghost tours are just outside the front doors as well. Some on-line reviews of the hotel can be misleading but take them with a grain of salt. This hotel is great. The lobby is beautifully decorated and the suites themselves are elegantly designed. Each suite is made up of two floors, with a kitchen, living room and bathroom located on the bottom floor and a spacious bedroom and bathroom on the second floor. Very comfortable furniture (especially the bed) made it even better. The second floor bathroom, however, needed some more work as parts of it looked a bit dated. The TV in the bedroom also needs to be upgraded to match the nice big flat screen TV in the living room. I especially enjoyed their industrial strength central air system. It was downright oppressive outside, but felt like the Arctic in the suite. Nothing but love there. The staff was exemplary. Clean, efficient housekeeping, very friendly and knowledgeable front desk attendants (who are there 24/7), and smiles all around made the stay quite enjoyable. Should I ever make a return trip to Charleston, I know exactly where I'll be staying.

I liked this Inn a lot. We traded through our own timeshare for the week and were suprised that it included maid service every day (most only do it a few times during the week). The two story rooms are great and having the extra half bath is fabulous! I also loved the walk in closet and having a full kitchen - perfect to try out that cornbread mix I bought! One thing was weird - we seemed to get the only non-rennovated room. All the rest we saw had hardwood floors and rennovated kitchens, etc. Ours was carpeted, had lots of scrapes and scratches on the wall and a very 1980's kitchen. We also had drapes instead of blinds like the others. And, although the windows had cranks, the handles were removed, so you couldn't open them for fresh air (although with the pervasive horse urine smell downtown, I wouldn't recommend it). The front desk staff is fantastic and really well- traveled themselves!! The concierge people are pushy - trying to sell timeshares and trying to push high end restaurant reservations on you for the kick backs, but people have to make a living. I would stay here again, but just tell them you don't want room 230 if you want a nicer unit!

I loved this place! I was a little nervous because someone else booked the room for us and I read some bad reviews. Those bad reviews came from a few years ago and that was before the renovation. The inn was beautiful! We got there a few hours early but the room was ready and the friendly staff let us in anyway. There's a beautiful staircase but if you don't want to walk up the stairs, there's an elevator. The room was awesome. It doesn't feel like you are in a hotel room because it's exactly like an apartment. As soon as you walk in there's a full kitchen stocked with coffee and even plates and wine glasses, etc. Then there's a bathroom and living room with a couch that's really comfortable despite being leather. It has a flat screen t.v on the wall and beautiful white shutters throughout. Our room (202) was at the end of the hallway and it happened to have a view of the courtyard which was great! Then there's the steep stairs leading up into the bedroom which also has a bathroom , a flat screen t.v and the same beautiful view. The bed was a 2 post bed which was cool because it was high and it had a little step stool to get up. Very comfortable too. There's 2 bathrooms in the one bedroom room and that was great for me. It was great to have the bedroom separate from the living space. My only negative point about the room was the upstairs bathroom. Instead of a shower curtain it has window drapes and inside the bathtub it is very dark. I totally understand that they are doing the whole old fashion, Victorian like decorating but in the future the continuous use of water without a shower curtain is going to cause mold. That was the only thing though. The bathroom and everything was very clean. The staff was very friendly. There's a room downstairs that has coffee pots and I'm assuming that they have some functions there because there's a bar area. The courtyard is beautiful and it has a drink machine out there in the corner just in case you need a drink in the middle of the night! There's an entrance to one of the stores on Market street that you can go into from the courtyard. They have a beautiful album inside that displays all the great restaurants in the area and their menus. There is a $20 a day parking fee and I know this sounds like a lot but as you will see, there's no parking in Charleston! It's definitely a walking city but that's good because you work off all your meals! If you want to find a garage for yourself it is $1 per hour so technically, the Inn doesn't rip you off. Actually, it ended up being better than I thought because it's valet and we arrived at 2:00 pm and it was $20 for 24 hours but they let us keep it there for a long time the next day as well. The valet is great because after walking around in the heat all day, you'll appreciate it. Oh, and the staff is there 24 hours a day. We came home from eating and a bar down the street around 2 am and the front desk guy opened the door for us. Great experience and I highly recommend it. The Inn is right next to the market and a lot of great restaurants and shops and close to the water and the park and pier as well. Everything is within walking distance! I will definitely be back!

If you have a timeshare trade through Interval International and would like to trade for the Church Street Inn, forget it, it will never happen. I really wanted to stay here, so I paid cash, and it is expensive. It's major plus is that it is within walking distance of a lot of good stuff in Charleston, especially the Market which takes place every day right across the street. This must be why the staff at the Church Street Inn seem to feel they are doing you a favor by taking your money. You have to beg for more coffee and creamers each morning and our coffee maker didn't even work properly. At most places this expensive, they would at least have complimentary wine and cheese or tea and cookies every afternoon. Not here. Also, you will need to pull up to the door and have a valet park your car for you, don't park in the garage yourself while you check in, you will just have to go back and get your car. Their parking will cost you $20 per day, unless you listen to one of their timeshare sales pitches from the "concierge". Also, they don't explain their housekeeping policies. You don't get full service every day. And forget about watching a pay per view movie like they falsely advertise, that service is not available. Now that I've been here and noticed the Days Inn at 155 Meeting Street, 843-722-8411, I would have rather stayed there!

Ordinarily I wouldn't give a review on a place we own at... Is it a time share? Yes sort of.. It can also be used as a hotel (let me know if you want to rent it for a weekend). It has come a long way now that many of the rooms are renovated. That includes updated fixtures, flat screen tvs, etc. When we come down, I love nothing more than watching all the tourists from the balcony overlooking Market Street. The staff make this place a 5 star - even late at night.. on a Thanksgiving when you need your car to go find some place open to get food.. even though it turns out that the best restaurant in town, Tommy Condon's, was open the whole time!! You can't get closer to the heart of the walled city than here. Look into Church Street and secure a spot in the #3 most popular cities to travel to in the country. Is it pricey? Yeah.. but everything in Charleston is unless you stay at the HoJo or Best Western..
