Nice place to get breakfast or tea/coffee. They have small bags with coffee beans open and for sake so, when you enter the premises, you smell coffee all over the place. This place is located I a small shopping plaza with Bi-Lo and other small restaurants (not chains). The place is clean and the bartenders are courteous and polite.

Not very impressed.. I did think it was a bit odd how they used dixie cups for the coffee--didn't really seem an appropriate item to hold a hot steamy bev if ya know what I'm saying. The coffee itself also did not impress me... had a stellar croissant though ;-D Also the service was great. Very friendly and helpful. Decent ambiance minus the fact that there weren't enough comfortable places to sit. The tables and chairs are all small and not very comfy on the tush tush.

Met a friend for coffee and she suggested Charleston Coffee Exchange. In addition to hot and iced beverages, they sell a selection of beans for home brewing. I ordered an iced buzz with caramel syrup. It was alright, nothing special. The buzz is supposed to give a little extra *buzz* to your morning caffeine rush. I found it a little weak, both in caffeine and flavor. Maybe it was a once off, and I'm certainly willing to try again. However I feel like I get a stronger flavor from Starbucks for the same price (the large buzz was in the $5 range). The cafe itself is nice. It was fairly quiet when I got there, with small bursts of people coming in. They have wifi, and several people were doing some work at tables. They sell pastries, but I didn't try one this time. The staff wasn't overly polite, not saying a single word outside of telling me my total. During slower periods, the girls just stood around talking rather than focusing on cleaning or stocking. Overall I'd come back. But if the next cup of coffee is no better, I doubt I'd give it a third try.

Coffee was good, so if that's your main priority, go for it! I just got a plain coffee, so... nothing too fancy. The feel is not as soft or relaxing as I would hope, but it's not bad considering it's a little place in a strip mall. I like the fact that they are local and close to my house, and that the coffee is good. Nothing outstanding, nothing awful.

I love that this place is close to my house. Other than that, nothing is remarkable. Nothing about this place is either really awesome or really terrible. I like a few of their coffee selections, and I like how many options of coffee they have. They have decent smoothies but no special ingredients, just fruit. They usually have a couple of different bagels but never any that are different. I had a pumpkin muffin that was pretty good except it was loaded with nuts. I like the convenience and the nice staff...the seating and food is average. I'll prob try it more if my keurig breaks.

I had never even heard of this place before Saturday! My friends apparently stop in all of the time, so I had to make a visit with them during our girls day out! When you walk in, the first thing I noticed was that is smelled AMAZING. There was coffee everywhere, and all of it smelled delicious. I ended up getting a Caramel Macchiato. I've never had one anywhere other than Starbucks, and now I will never go back. This was amazing! The staff were super friendly and knowledgeable. I highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a good cup of coffee (plus, I see they have treats, so I'll need to grab a croissant next time).

Great local family owned place. Quality drinks, pastries and breakfast sandwiches. You will always see smiling faces. Awesome customer service.

Great little coffee shop with all your coffee shop favorites pretty cool decor and generally friendly staff although I have had some pretty slow service there but I have to say that all their products are good and they have some nice little breakfast items as well and certainly a good alternative to Starbucks

It's better than your average coffee shop (like dunkin donuts) but nothing I would write home about. I might feel better about it if it wasn't SO loud. Maybe it's the acoustics, or just me, but man you really can't get anything done without blasting your own headphones. It's constant constant coffee grinding and it just feels like everyone is yelling. Coffee is good though.

I thoroughly enjoy my coffee & the staff. I'm Good prices and I'm in & out in a decent time before I make my way to work myself.

We stopped in right before touring some of the plantations down the road and we're glad we did! You would almost miss the place if you weren't looking for it as it is off to the side near a hair salon! We tried both the drip coffees and their "buzz" iced coffees and they tasted amazing! I almost tasted a hint of chocolate in the buzz? Their pastry case looked a little empty when we came by but still managed to try their take on a sticky bun. Not my favorite but the coffee made up for it. The ambience is relaxing and the bags of coffee beans near the counter added a nice touch to the place! Definitely check this place out if you're driving through the area!

They brew a good pot of coffee. It is self serve for drip coffee. WiFi is unreliable and constantly needs to be reset. Do not come here if you need to work on your laptop. The interior smells great, coffee beans & roaster are right behind the counter. Ample parking.

Cute little quick stop. Got a peanut flavored blend that was really nice, they were good about making it perfect for me. Cute little gathering spot also. I didn't try the WiFi or anything, was there to just get some coffee and be on my way.

Enjoyed an late cup of ice caramel latte here. My friend let me try his breakfast bagel and it was delicious with egg, bacon and cheese! I will be paying another visit here soon:)

This coffee shop is very close to my house so I have been going there since it opened. Always fast and friendly service. We love getting their bagels (they have several different sweet and savory kinds - we usually get the everything, sun-dried tomato or 3 cheese). Another favorite is the Buzz iced coffee. Whenever my sister comes to town, it is a must that we stop to get a Buzz! One of our go to gifts to give is their ground coffee (there are so many to choose from) - Snicker, Jubilation and Southern Pecan are great!

My go to coffee shop. Way better than Starbucks. Super cozy. Bright not dark like most coffee shops. Love the staff. And the coffee is so good. I like the different selections of coffee served daily. They roast their own beans which is awesome. And the buzz iced coffee is so good!

Great chai tea latte. Even better sausage egg and cheese breakfast sandwich. Make sure you get it on a croissant- so good! My friends say the plain latte and honey latte were also delightful. This place seemed like a friendly local spot.

Very good coffee. I would choose this place over Starbucks any day! It is a bit pricy, but worth it. They are quite fast at making the drinks. The pastries are good and fresh too.

The Coffee Exchange is alright...good selection of fresh-roasted beans, but the atmosphere and area isn't anything crazy. It's in a strip mall area in a growing part of West Ash. If I'm in the area looking for decent coffee beans, I'll stop in.

Love this little coffee spot! When you walk in, the first thing you see is the bags of coffee beans available. It makes the place smell fantastic. The coffee is perfectly made and doesn't taste burnt like some places. The pastries are fresh and quite delicious. Their frozen cofffees aren't too sweet and taste fantastic. I buy their small bags of ground coffee to make at home- so I am able to try different flavors.

Love this place! A couple times a month I will spend the better part of a day at a coffee shop to get computer work done in peace. Before moving to Charleston I frequented a Starbucks in Columbia, and was expecting to do the same after moving to West Ashley. I'm very glad to have found this place instead; I very much prefer it to Starbucks now. Very friendly staff. I would say their prices a just a little bit high, but not so much as make me want to go elsewhere. I think it's funny someone posted a pic to Yelp of the WiFi problem they had... just shows user error. LOL! They did upgrade their WiFi recently. WiFi has always worked fine for me. I've probably been to Charleston Coffee Exchange 20 or more times since relocating.

I have given this place three tries, buying at least a pound of whole beans each time. I've found rocks in the coffee twice, almost ruined my coffee grinder. When I mentioned this to them, they acted like it wasn't a big deal and said they broke their grinder on a rock the other day. The coffee was just ok, but it is definitely not worth ruining my equipment at home because they can't get stones out of their coffee. Not sure if they are using low grade coffee, don't have the equipment/care enough to make sure they get debris out of their coffee, or both, but I won't be back. That said, the staff was at least friendly.

I hate it took me so long to discover this place after moving to the area. I love it! Awesome selection of coffee, pastries, and breakfast sandwiches. I love that they have soy AND almond milk!!

When I stay at my sister's in West Ashley I always make a point to swing into The Coffee Exchange. I love walking in and smelling all the varieties of coffee beans they have out for sale. I've tried many different coffees but I can't stay away from the Buzz! I usually stick with one of their great bagels(everything, 3 cheese, sundried tomato...) with garden cream cheese. Very filling. The reason for only 4 stars was the wet egg on the sausage egg & cheese bagel. Other than that, it's a must do!

I am addicted to the bacon, egg and cheese croissant. Staff is great. Coffee is amazing. WiFi somewhat unreliable, but I use it often. This s a rare blend of neighborhood ambiance, customer service , great product and free spirit.

Probably the worst coffee shop i have ever been to. They have this ice grinding machine that sounds like they are sawing off body parts of problem patrons but no they are grinding ice and they dont know how to use it because it takes them a sold 5 minutes to make a drink so dont go there is you need to concentrate because it is no match for noise canceling headphones. The coffee is weak, the staff is so friendly that you expect for what seems like a lifetime to get a cup of coffee. If you can stand the noisy machinery, the over-priced joe and the geriatric clientele that can never quite seem what they want or be satisfied with it, it gets better. they start closing 3 hours before they actually close. yes dear reader, they start brining in the coffee in the self serve coffee area and the creamer and milk in that area roughly 3 hours before they actually lock up which is 6pm during the week, 5pm on saturdays and noon on sundays. So if you need an afternoon or evening pick me up, you should probably go to starbucks who is a) open later b) has stronger coffee and c) has patrons who know how this works.

We discovered this coffee shop after discovering that Ladles Soups in the same shopping center had issues with their WiFi. This coffee shop is located in the same shopping center as BiLo and is open from 6 am to 6 pm Monday through Friday and 7 am to 5 pm Saturday and Sunday. They sell specialty coffee, pastries, breakfast sandwiches and also offer Wholesale coffee orders. The staff is very friendly and helpful in any way that they can. There is a nice family atmosphere in this coffee shop and my wife and I highly recommend it to anyone that is looking for a nice cup of coffee and good environment.

I love that the roasting machine is front and center so you can see what is going on. The selection is excellent. Paul is an excellent roaster with a true passion for coffee.

This is a great local coffee shop with really friendly staff. Located at the corner of Hwy 61 and Bee's Ferry Road, it is in the Bi-Lo shopping center. They have excellent coffee and tea, great baked goods, and dependable wireless. And trust me, I have put that wireless to use!

Hubs and I tried the Charleston Coffee Exchange last weekend. We were on our way out of town and wanted a pick-me-up for the road. When you walk in, you'll notice all the coffee beans. You can buy a cup of coffee there (or pastry, sandwich, etc) but you can also buy fresh ground coffee which is a neat touch. You can also pay for a "bottomless mug" if you want to stay all day and use the wifi to work and want multiple cups of coffee. Hubs got a Canadian bacon, egg, and cheese breakfast sandwich, which he said was excellent (I didn't taste), and we both had frappes. The frappes were DELICIOUS- much better than Starbucks or any chain and about everything was the same price. I had a skinny mocha frappe which I couldn't tell was skinny, and he had a caramel toffee one. The frappes are cold and slushy but without hard chunks of ice and they don't need any additional sweeteners or cream. My husband's frappe was drizzled with syrup and looked pretty artistic, too. You can tell the workers are passionate about what they do. We'll definitely be back!

Great service but mediocre coffee at best. Those are the coffee was old and not really fresh. Kinda sad and big let down because I've been there before its been really awesome

My husband and I would rather pay for a cup than make our own pot just so we can interact with the friendly staff. This was the only place that has ever sold me on flavored coffee. Rainforest Crunch. Yum!

I haven't tried the brewed coffee, but the espresso drinks are not good at all. Not sure if it's the roasting or the making of the drinks, but sometimes they are bitter almost to the point of undrinkable (I've given them multiple chances - I really wanted to like them since they're right down the street from me). It's sad when the best espresso in West Ashley is Starbucks :-/ The staff is friendly enough, but of course it doesn't matter if the coffee isn't good.

This is our neighborhood coffee roaster, the last of a dying breed of local, family-owned coffee shops. My husband, a coffee connoisseur has been a regular patron for a least five years. The staff offers true, old-fashioned friendly customer service that's becoming more of a rarity. Take it from a local and not some passerby who can't type properly, if you're in the neighborhood, it's worth a stop. (The ice-grinding machine? I've never noticed.)
