Came here for Restaurant Week and was not let down. The Monday special was a chicken salad croissant avec frites. The starter was gazpacho or salad. I chose the spring mix salad and it was fresh and delicious all by itself. I was full before the main meal arrived. My previous dinners have never disappointed. This French Restaurant is quaint but elegant. It feels very comfortable but the staff treat you like royalty. There is a garage for convenient parking on Hayne street behind the market/restaurant. Occasionally you can find street parking, but don't forget your coins. Prices are very reasonable, especially for the location and service. I will definitely return.

Awesome french restaurant in downtown Charleston. When you walk inside the aroma can tell you the quality of the food you are getting. I got the 1/2 roasted herb chicken which was delicious. The juices seeped out of it and it was cooked to perfection. The green beans were AMAZING. They had the perfect amount of butter. Green beans are one of my favorite foods, so it was good to see them done right. Finally, I had the french fries which were also great. They were really small and perfect for dipping in ketchup. My dad has a grilled halibut and it was really good. It was very tender, and served in a succulent brown butter sauce. My mom had the Shrimp Provincial and that was really good too. She also had mashed potatoes and those were great too. Overall, a great restaurant. Will return if in the area again.

First visit: Wednesday, July 29, 2015. We had to be downtown for a family member's nearby appointment and decided to try Brasserie Gigi. It is just a few feet from Meeting Street, on North Market. We sat in the front-area, kind of a glassed "fishbowl"--an interesting place to observe the many passing tourists on North Market. A cruise ship was in dock--just a short walk away. (A near-by delightful couple was on a 104 (?) day cruise of the world! David Niven and Cantinflas did it in 80-days! *lol*) Friendly waiter. Good atmosphere. My Tomato & Okra soup was good but not distinguished. My blackened tilapia over rice was delicious, albeit slightly salty. My lunch was from the US$10.99 "lunch special". I think it was a very good selection, reasonably priced, and completely filling. Soup (or salad) and entree. I definitely recommend Brasserie Gigi. A great location for tourists or locals who want a nice, relaxed lunch with good attentive service.

What a charming little place! I came here for lunch with my parents after wandering around Market Street and we were beyond impressed. We were seated right away, even though the dining area was packed. In hindsight, that makes much more sense. Our waitress was superb! Friendly, attentive, and rocking the hell out of her pixie cut. I ordered the Moules-Frites (mussels served with fries) and it was absolutely to die for! The mussels were served in a very buttery garlic cream sauce and were cooked to perfection. I truly could not believe how good it was, and for such a reasonable price! After I had devoured all of the mussels, our waitress even brought out fresh bread (still warm) to dip into the leftover sauce--so delicious. My parents also enjoyed their dishes and we all agreed that the portions were just right. If you're in the area, this is a marvelous place to stop for lunch, and probably dinner as well. Oh, and the coffee is positively divine. I hope to return this summer when I'm back in Charleston! C'est magnifique!

While I normally avoid dining on Market Street at all costs due to the fact that the majority of restaurants are overpriced tourist traps lacking charm or creative food, Brasserie Gigi is an exception. If you find yourself pursuing market street and are hungry, I think this spot is your best bet for a great lunch. The place does have a touch of French charm to it, and serves some well-executed classics like Tuna Nicoise Salad, French Onion Soup, Moules Frites and the Croque Madame. I was extremely happy with my Tuna Nicoise salad for $15, which came with a decently large portion of rare tuna, egg, potato, olives, tomato, red onion and my favorite- white anchovies. The Moules Frites are also a great option, which are served with tons of crusty bread for sopping up the super simple yet amazing sauce of white wine, lemon and butter. The few times I find myself on Market Street when touring friends or family members around, Brasserie Gigi remains my favorite spot to duck in for a quiet, casual lunch. They also have a daily lunch special for $10.99 that comes with choice of soup or salad and an iced tea- which is a steal! As far as dinner goes, if you find yourself in the area I say go for it, but if French food is what your seeking, make your way over to Chez Nous or Rue De Jean instead, which are much better dining experiences and for roughly the same price as Brasserie Gigi. Must-order items: Moules Frites Tuna Nicoise Salad Gigi Burger w. Roquefort

I came here for lunch a few weeks back and omg was it good! The wait for a table was a bit long, but as long as you're expecting that, you should be good. I ordered the chicken paillard sandwich, which was phenomenal. You can really taste the rosemary and thyme, which is almost infused into the chicken itself. It was perfectly crispy and their lemon aioli added a great bit of depth and tanginess to the sandwich. The frites are a little overcooked to my liking, but they have great flavor. I can't wait to come back!

The monkfish is to die for. I do not normally order white fish when going out to eat. I'll take red meat, pork, or chicken (in that order) over cooked fish (does not include sushi) any night of the week. Tonight I decided to go outside of my comfort zone and try the monkfish. So glad I did! It was a thick MEATY piece of fish in a creamy delectable white wine sauce that had a hint of lemon. This was my first visit to Gigi's though the restaurant has been open since May 2014. I will definitely be visiting again soon. The complimentary baguette was everything a baguette should be. It definitely rivals some of the baguettes I've had in France! The ambience was nice--soft lighting, white linen napkins, and very Parisienne. To top it off, my server was French! Oh la la!

The first time I came here was on Monthers Day and to be honest, I was not too hungry so all I had was their Blonde Bloody Mary and was not disappointed in the least bit. That Bloody Mary is so uniquely good- I stopped back in for brunch with my family a couple months later to get one again but also try out some food this time. Thank God we did. We were all pretty hungry but could not pick just one dish so we decided to split 2 dishes. We got the crab cake Benedict and the Duck Confit. Holy cow. Both were so delicious. The food was great and so was the service. I will definitely be back for brunch and would not mind coming back in to try their dinner selection which I'm sure is just as amazing. I recommend if you find yourself in the Market Area to go and try it out!

Deelish!!! We had the Shrimp Provençal , baked chicken, red wine, a manhattan & creme brûlée!!! Soooooo good! Sit at the bar with Corey & Chris! They rock !

Gigi's was very accommodating for our child, but it could not fix the basic problems. Asked waiter for a dry rlose, but we were brought a very fruity bottle of wine, sent it back and tried again. Food was over cooked. Escargot has way too much parsley. Duck confit was dry and fish was cooked to death, too bad because I really did want to give a great review. Great candy right next door though! Yum!

Happy hour in this well appointed establishment boasts several decent wine choices, well drinks, and drafts as well as two menu items. The fresh, not frozen, calamari was a popular choice. The impeccable staff is well versed in their chosen craft, and while reading the menu at the beautiful bar, I felt as if was back in Villefranche Sur Mer (near Monaco) again. So, I ordered a Vesper (shaken, not stirred) and I was immediately transported back to the Casino Monte Carlo. Salute!

Had a great experience here for my birthday. After they sat us in a communal table which was too crowded for the quiet evening we had planned, they were gracious enough to reseat us. After that, everything went great. We were one of the first people to visit and so even the waitress wasn't sure on a couple of wine pairings, but she asked the bartender and it was all worked out. The oysters we had were great, as were the other apps.

back again for brunch..too good. maybe the best meal we had last weekend..and we had some good ones! Blonde bloody mary completely different and fresh.mmm crab benedict and duck confeit was to die for...no really. best bruch in town. will come back for dinner next time.

Was an OK place. I don't think it helped that we were in between two weirdo couples who seemed to hate each other. The service was also just OK. Not top notch or super attentive. As for the food, my husbands croque madame was quite delicious. it was cooked well and the bread was very tender. I had the omelet special with oysters and there were just a bit too chewy for my liking. Thankfully there were not that many of them and the rest of the omelet was good with goat cheese, gruyere and leeks. I sadly don't think we will return next time we are in Charleson. There are a lot of other good spots to hit up.

Went here for brunch in a Sunday morning. Good was amazing and just right. Very good attention to detail. Cocktails were fresh and well-balanced. Great ambiance with no noise so you can have a quiet conversation. Sans one star for egg smell in my glass of water.

I would have not expected anything like this near Market. A month old and already making a good impression. The atmosphere was great, bar staff personable and accommodating. I had the steak frites - cooked just right, fries a little dark, salad lightly dressed with a real tomato slice on top. Nothing worse that an orange plum tomato slice on a salad. The boyfriend had a salmon special, it was Wellington with goat cheese, side of potatoes and a salad. Both dishes we would gladly eat again. My cocktail, an apple sidecar was strong, just as it should have been. We had lemon tart for dessert, generous portion, tender crust and not too tart lemon filling. We'll be back, I've got many more things to try. See you next time milk chocolate pot de creme.

Strolled in mid-week, found seats at the bar and had a most excellent lunch! Not to mention the perfectly made manhattans. And a sample of their blonde bloody mix made from yellow heirloom tomatoes - wow, so fresh tasting with just the right kick! We shared our choices, all nicely split and beautifully plated by the kitchen. Classic grilled ham and cheese, made differently than I've ever had, served with a light white sauce over it - delicious! Cucumber goat cheese salad also excellent. Go there!!

The trout was amazing. Cooked to perfection. It is not the touristy trap that is typically found around the Market area. The atmosphere was relaxing, service was great as were the entrees.

The food and service was amazing! My sons French club met here for lunch. The staff was so accommodating and professional that we will all defiantly be back. I tried the Eggs Benedict and it was excellent. All the children enjoyed their food and experience.

Be wary to never use your credit/debit cards while dining at @BrasserieGiGi ... They double charged me and days later I've had to reluctantly open a dispute with my credit card company. I politely called and asked them numerous times for help in the matter but brassieres GiGi refused to help, and actually told me to open a dispute. Bring cash if you plan on dining at this establishment.

Food was good but nothing spectacular. Pretty cheap price-wise. Service was great. We just stumbled in and we able to get a seat at the bar. Pretty much what we were looking for. Definitely worth trying

We just had a delightful lunch at GIGI's. We each had the lunch special of Blackened Mahi over a bed of wonderful creamy rice. I chose the salad to start and my date had asparagus soup which I didn't care for but he liked. The price was a totally reasonable $10.99 each. The service was excellent and the building was very nice with a great view of the market.

  • Mike P.

Food would have been spectacular if they would just list all the ingredients in it first so you know when something is in there you just flat out do not like -Especially when we're talking about horseradish. You just shouldn't put that into a dish and not tell someone ahead of time. As far as I'm concerned you ruin a perfectly great croque madame by doing that. Wait staff was friendly and ambience is great. I would recommend it actually but I am hoping that by writing this, other horseradish haters out there will be spared!

Good eats. Decently priced for lunch. Has an air of sophistication. The quick lunch included Mahi Mahi and white bean chicken soup which was delicious. Everyone else loved their food which included shrimp, French dip, ham and cheese, and fish sandwich. A ton of fries with each order. No kids menu though. Service was great

Amazing Easter brunch at Gigi's! Made a reservation before traveling to Charleston for the holiday weekend. Had a lovely table for three on the second level and some wonderful service with our waiter. Had the delicious crab Benedict, mussels and an omelette along with several delicious cocktails. Thanks for a wonderful celebration !

My wife had previously had a very good experience here, so we went for an early dinner. The ambiance is very nice, and I imagine it is a great place to get an intimate after work drink, but the food and service were mediocre. Our waitress had too many tables and was obviously unhappy about getting triple sat. Not a terrible experience but with so many fantastic restaurants in close proximity, I would give it a pass for dinner.

First a great location right near the market in downtown Charleston. We were seated at a table by the window and were able to see the street action. It was NY eve but we made a reservation via open table so no problems getting seated. The food was tasty the server very knowledgeable about what she was offering. Two of us had the fish special which was simply done in butter and parsley. A very tasty dish. We ordered a the squid salad which was excellent again a simple dish cooked perfectly. We also ordered the mussels which came with Frites (french fries) These were the best french fries I ever ate! The mussels seemed under cooked but the frites were a treat. I would recommend this place as being in a great location having a good vibe and a place that belongs in a great food city.

Had lunch, was treated like it was dinner time. Great service, mussels to die for. (ask for bread at lunch, they don't give it automatically) . Place Is top notch. 5 star eatery. Prices are OK. Can't beat the location. Will go back for Dinner soon. Frank G

We were very upset that Mercato the previous place had closed so we decided to try this place thinking it had to be better than Mercato. Sadly I wish they kept the old place. service was great but I had better food. I got the sea scallops with potatoes. Scallops were okay but the potatoes needed seasoning. I wanted to add salt so bad or something to give it a kick. Disappointed.

We had a great lunch here. The quick lunch special was meatloaf with a breaded potato side and came with ice tea. All very tasty and arrived quickly as advertised. We were happy to stumble upon on this restaurant during our afternoon in Charleston and would return!

I come to Charleston pretty frequently, especially when out of towners make the trek to visit me in Columbia. Even though there are SO many restaurants in Charleston, I typically try to avoid the ones located on super touristy thoroughfares, or that everyone seems to go to even though it might be hard to do. I stumbled across Brasserie Gigi on yelp, and I don't know how I didnt make the connection that it was right next to the city market. Luckily, though, Brasserie Gigi is nothing like the touristy southern restaurants that permeate the area. I made a reservation on Open Table and was running a little late as we were enjoying walking around the city. I called to let them know and they were very accommodating. We were seated upstairs by the window which was very beautiful and intimate. The hostess mentioned that this was her favorite table in the restaurant, and I would have to agree. We ordered a round of drinks and they have your typical upscale beer, wine, and cocktails. We ordered mussels and french onion soup as starters and they were both delicious! I got the shrimp pasta as my entree (Sorry I'm forgetting the fancy french name!). While I really liked it, everyone else in my party thought it was too salty. My mom got the duck appetizer as an entree, and it really could have been an entree it was very generously portioned. My grandmother got the chicken, and my grandfather got the schnitzel. Everyone seemed to enjoy the food immensely. Something I really appreciated was how fair the portion sizes were. Sometimes when you get food at a fancy restaurant you end up paying an arm and a leg for something tiny and I hate that! I also really have to compliment our waitress who gave us phenomenal service throughout the evening. Sincerely hope that this place continues to have success, but not TOO much :)

On a recent trip to Charleston, I stumbled upon this place for brunch while searching Yelp. This was hands down the best place we ate during our week long stay in Charleston & Savannah. Honestly as a designer I was first drawn in because of the amazing decor. This place feels like you've been some place special. But what encouraged me to write the review was not the decor but the amazing food & unparalleled service. We thoroughly enjoyed salmon Wellington, the omelet special & the most amazing hash brown potatoes I've ever consumed. The dishes were served with a salad with the most amazing dressing. We sat at the bar for brunch & enjoyed lively banter with the bartender who was most delightful while drinking a blonde Bloody Mary. It was most refreshing & not heavy like most bloody Mary's tend to be. This meal was the highlight meal of our trip!

I came here for the first time to grab drinks with some friends and this place is a hidden gem in Charleston! They had happy hour which was $4 for beers, $5 for house drinks, and $6 for wine...not bad!!!! The bartenders are extremely friendly and really great at mixing drinks. It was awesome and the food looked amazing; I can't wait to go back and try their food next time!!!

We were looking forward to the croque madame and the first few bites were the best thing I ever ate. The we got to the horseradishy middle. WOW! Not good. If I was suffering from sinus issues before, I didn't after that. It's not listed on the description otherwise we would have both told them with vigor to withhold it. Add on a bachelorette party seated next to us halfway through and that about did us in. The server in training was very nice though and prices seemed reasonable.

Excellent service and right-sized portions. The upstairs tables are quieter than the downstairs because of the bar. Wonderful trout and scallop entrees, adequate herb chicken. Very kind servers were thorough in responding to an allergy concern, also extrermely nice to our 5 year old, whom we had to bring due to unusual circumstances.

Wonderful place. We walked in on a Saturday evening with no reservation and they sat us within 10 mins. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The asst GM, Ben stopped during the meal to check in us. Our server was Laurent, who was a funny Frenchman. No complaints there at all. We had the Potato & leek soup and the burgers. Both were very good and cooked as were ordered. Very pleasant atmosphere. Low volume jazz playing in the background and no problem with noise. Very easy to hold a conversation even with a full dining room. Overall very nice and I would dine there again.

5 Star for hospitality and for being accommodating. And the food was terrific. Short story...in town briefly for a conference with too much work consuming my time, which is sad for someone new to Charleston. I wandering into Gigi's and notice that they have a quick lunch promotion. Putting them to the challenge, I asked if they would do a to-go order so I could get back to my hotel and work. They didn't over promise but staff looked into it and confirmed that they could take care of me. Wow, chicken salad on a light, flakey croissant never tasted so good. I was probably doubly hungry from a long morning of travel. Suffice to say...I am a fan. I hear that they have a good happy hour too. Check them out! You will be happy.

My wife and I ate here yesterday for a late lunch. My wife had the best French onion soup ever, not salty like most of the ones we've had in the past. She also had a delicious salad. I had the fish of the day, mahi mahi, as a sandwich. It was delicious. Our waiter was from France and was very charming.

This is my favorite restaurant so far in Charleston. The atmosphere is a comfortable bistro-ish style. Sitting in the front with a view of the street from the large front windows makes it a very special. The food is French and features several seafood dishes. The service was excellent and friendly, extremely accommodating. I had a selection of cold seafood that was fresh and well presented. Would definitely revisit

Rarely do I give a negative review. This place just didn't cut it. We will give it another try but there was no wow factor. The squid salad was ok, steak tartare was good but a little too salty. The Cobia special was pretty good but a little too much butter. This is one of the only places I know that carries a really solid beer selection but the beer I ordered was not available. Better luck next time hopefully...

We've been wanting to try this new place. It reminded us a lot of Rue De Jean. Menu, decor, everything. But it's owned by a different restaurant group. Food was good. Prices were good. Service was excellent. My husband ordered the chicken and it was very tasty and juicy. I ordered the lamb shank special and I wasn't impressed. We also ordered the escargot and again I wasn't impressed. A little on the rubbery side.

First time eating at Brasserie Gigi. I had overheard the owner of an other restaurant (my favorite) refer customers to this place since he was fully booked, so I thought I'll give it a try. Atmosphere is OK, I sat in the front towards the window. The restaurant has only a few feet street access and windows and is extends to the back where there are booths and a bar. Service was OK but I did really enjoy the French dip sandwich. The cheese was tasty unlike other bland options and the grain mustard worked very well in this sandwich. The French Fries were excellent, more on the slim side like you may find in Europe. Overall great experience and I will be back!

Excellent ambience at 102 North Market in a narrow space which is so very inviting to me. Food is on the same (excellent) level, and is worth coming back of course. Today's omelet special is a fine sausage one with "Gigi potatoes" and a petite salad.

Great French food. Every once in awhile you do need to take a night off from low country cuisine, as good as it is, right? Gigi's is that place. Great ambiance, spot on courses. I also need to mention the wine service. Some of the best I have seen. 4 different wines, 3 decanted, one not. Accomplished effortlessly.

  • Dana M.

Nice, knowledgable waiter. Service was great. Food was AMAZING. Perfectly done scallops, crispy pork belly, sweet corn purée that wasn't too sweet, but the perfect creamy accompaniment to the smoky pork belly. Pickled mustard seed to add some acidity made this a perfectly balanced plate with a beautiful presentation, but in an atmosphere that's casual and not at all intimidating. Someone at this restaurant really knows what they're doing. I'll eat here every time I'm in Charleston.

We. Just happened upon Gigi's and what a pleasant surprise! Our lunch was fabulous! We had their lunch special and it was magnificent! The soup full of flavor. The chicken salad sandwich on a croissant was excellent and of course the pommes frites perfect! More food than we needed, but we ate it all! And ice tea too! By far the best food and value we've had in Charleston!

This place can be a little pricey but if you want a solid dinner with ambiance, and great servers - this is your place. I have been to France and the food here does France right. I had the Onion Soup (not called French Onion soup - but it is French Onion soup), the scallop dinner and the wife got the pork with frites. I tried the French 75 drinks and wow was it loaded! I highly recommend this place for a very nice meal. Props to BG for their quality and décor!!

We had 2 pm reservations for brunch, but they were out of all brunch items ,which is why we came! The restaurant was way too cold so no one in our party of 8 could enjoy themselves. The restaurant is beautiful and the service as good, we just had a bad first experience!

Amazing place. Located where Mercato's used to be, this French gem is a perfect place to share a meal. Atmosphere is very sophisticated with a lot of black and red. Modern lighting adds a special touch. Service is impeccable. Knowledgeable, friendly, well dressed staff are ready to help with your meal selection. Menu is distinctly French with wonderful selections sure to please your palate. While salad nicoise makes an appearance as an old favorite, more exciting dishes featuring puff pastry, escargot, and house cured salmon make an appearance as well. Drinks include many classics as well as some innovative options. The wine menu is well stocked. Although we came at lunch and did not partake, they had some very interesting drinks that passed by our table, for example: a yellow colored bloody Mary! All in all, a great meal. Rivals many of the great restaurants downtown in my opinion. Great addition to the Charleston scene! Will definitely be back again!

Had a really nice experience last night. Sat us at a table just in front of the Market Street sidewalk window with a great people watching view. The service was impeccable, and the food was everything I'd hoped for. Good flavor and spicing on everything. We had the French Onion Soup, Escargot and the Salmon Sampler to start, then dove into the best scallops we've had in a really long time. My only resin for not giving 5 stars was the ending... Took a while for our server to come back around for our dessert and coffee order. Once taken, it took nearly 20 minutes to get our 1 cappuccino, 1 espresso and 1 cream brûlée. Unfortunately, the coffee was luke warm at best, so our ending was a little deflated. None the less our overall experience was really nice and we will definitely go back!!

Amazing meal, lovely atmosphere, and great service. Sat upstairs with a group - We had a great oyster selection and phenomenal escargot. Tasted the Roasted Grouper Bourride (out of this world) + a perfectly prepared Seared Sea Scallops and Grilled Swordfish. Loved the "Rosie Cheeks" manhattan - very very good. Very impressed and can't wait to get back to Charleston again.

I have to start by saying I may be biased against French food because I prefer Asian cuisine, but still left here satisfied and enjoyed my meal. Tried the shrimp with linguine and the garlic flavor lingered deliciously with each bite. Simple but good. Would have liked more! No bread to start the meal, but I'm not sure if that's typical or not. Tried the chocolate mousse for dessert which was quite dense, but heavenly. Interior makes you feel transported to France due to the decorations and light music.

Meh. Ate here for lunch. Service was terribly slow, and food was only okay. It seemed like our food sat in the kitchen, waiting for a while to be delivered. The shrimp cocktail and fish soup were great. The French onion soup was okay. The warm salad was put on a cold plate, which immediately chilled it. The muscles were old and salty. Lots of flies swarming around tables. Not worth the money.

This place is the real deal. The croque madame was totally authentic. Good wine list. Amazing decor. I felt like I was in Paris, and I've been there enough times to know! Loved it!

We had a spectacular brunch. The wait staff was friendly and the food selection amazing. A must visit french restaurant in Charleston.

Wasn't expecting much from a restaurant in the tourist district of Charleston, but this place was great! Had the chicken paillard sandwich and the chicken was very tender and juicy. Best french fries ever!

Terrific find, made better by Ben, our very engaging host. Duck confit was outstanding as were the omelettes. Go!

Great evening, service was wonderful, food was very good. They had gluten free options and offered to arrange for gf alternatives on other dishes that were not gluten free.

The BEST burger I ever had! Seriously THAT good. The staff is genuinely lovely and very helpful. As out-of-towners, Cory gave great nightlife suggestions on things to do in town. Of our 5 days in Charleston, we came by 3x for lunch. A definite must!

Really good food! Much better than Rue de Jean. I don't know how people can compare the two. I had the fish stew, duck confit, and mussels, all excellent and quite authentic.

My wife and I stopped in for lunch on our first day in Charleston. We ordered the Chicken Paillard sandwich. It was not bad. The chicken was tender and juicy. The frites were not fresh. It appeared that they cooked a lot of them at one time and just serve them when ordered. Nothing is better than hot fries no matter what they are called :)... The biggest issue is the flies in the restaurant. Not because the restaurant is nasty, but because the doors are always open. I kept cringing because they were everywhere. I have an issue with flies in restaurants and the fact that most restaurants already have glasses and silverware placed on the table. I kept thinking that flies were over all my stuff. I prayed so hard over my food and utensils/stemware. Please, please do something about these flies. It's a huge deterrent. I know it's Charleston but they are horrible in this particular location.

We ate here last night and it was excellent! Loved the atmosphere and the service and food were too notch. My two three year old daughters came with and they also really enjoyed it. It is the perfect combo of casual and elegance. My daughters split the pork schnitzel and it was so big they could have eaten off of it for weeks. There was plenty for me to sample without them getting mad at me for eating their food. I had the French onion soup and the shrimp pasta. Both were simple and light and amazing. We had Corey the bartender serving us and he was very attentive despite having a full bar. Loved if!

Went out for my gf's birthday. Sat at a cocktail table and was waited on by the bartender Chad. Chad did a great job of waiting the bar and the tables, being very attentive even with all that space to cover. Chad helped us order wine for my gf and beer for myself. It was possibly the best beer I have ever had and I wish I remember what it was called. Some type of abbey ale on draft. We started with steak tartare which was good. Chad recommended the monkfish and the fish of the day which was flounder. Both were cooked to perfection and scrumptious. Chad then brought out a creme brule with a candle for her bday without even being asked. Great food but even better service on this night. Thanks Chad and Gigi's!!

If there were minus stars I would have it on here less then five tables waited over one hour had just six clams 1cup of soup and they still had the nerve to charge me after waiting over an hour for my food I think they have a deal with the parking commission I paid four dollars for an hours worth of parking I think you're paying more for the real estate then for the service and food so my suggestion go to Denny's you would get better service same kind of food

My steak was great and my wife really enjoyed her seafood crepes. The service was fantastic and it looked like we were in a Paris bistro. We will probably make it back the next time we are in Charleston.

My wife and I visited on a recent weekday night and had the place almost to ourselves initially. The bar service was friendly and wine selection by the glass above average. After cocktails we we were seated for dinner and unfortunately the food fell below standard, in particular the fish if the day. What should have been a light, fresh dinner was a heavy, overly oily dish-also coating the string beans. May have been an off night for the link me cook but they missed in this night.

Had dinner at this little French gem tucked next to the historic market in downtown Charleston. Decor, music, ambiance, menu, waiter (Laurent was excellent) & service transports you to Paris as soon as you walk in. And the food.....authentic and as good as what you'd expect to have in France. I thoroughly enjoyed the potato leek soup and my husband enjoyed his usual escargot appetizer (when in France). My shrimp provencal was delicious. His steak frites was excellent as well -- fantastic fries (ok, so I stole a few). And the chocolate pudding for dessert was superb. We have found a new favorite and plan to return often!

Classic French dishes prepared with care; really fine, delicious food. Excellent frites, soup, scallops, schnitzel, and desserts. Attentive, professional service. We had lunch and dinner here during a visit to Charleston and would recommend this place wholeheartedly.

My lady and I were enjoying the market last Sunday in Charleston and decided to have brunch at Gigi's. The food was outstanding. The Biegnets were as close to Cafe' Du Monde's as I have had outside of New Orleans. The Croque Madame was the best I've has in Charleston. The bechamel was perfect. The service was great. The Manager, Katie made sure that we had everything we needed to enjoy our meal. She checked with us more than once. I like that. She was awesome! We will definitely be back.

What a pleasure to find this place when in town for a conference. We liked everything about it, from wine choices to menu to service. French flavor and local ingredients.

I am going to keep this short and to the point. My wife and I walked in off the street and totally picked this place at random. Zeus must have been smiling upon us that fortnight for I had the best burger in the mother fronting world here. We are from New York and are food snobs. Dear god, the mighty succulence. Have it with Gruyere Cheese. You will thank me and yourself. The meat was so juicy and the succulence level was at an 11.

We haven't even finished brunch yet and I had to post what an incredible meal this has been. Steak tartare, escargot, moules, croque Madame, oysters, etc... All tremendous.

We came here during the 3-5 pm dead zone between lunch and dinner when every other restaurant in Charleston is closed. Our teenagers were grumpy and giving us a hard time about the menu. My kids tried the chicken paillard sandwich and a vegetable pasta that was not on the menu (my vegetarian daughter was having a rough time finding something to eat), I had the fried oyster salad, and my husband had the croque Monsieur. Everything was delicious and by the time we left, my kids were no longer cranky. The restaurant is gorgeous and funky, and the waiter was very attentive. I'd definitely come here again.

Absolutely perfect! I highly recommend this restaurant. I lived in France for a year and this place is SPOT ON! Wonderful. We got the mussles, duck confit, croque madame and tuna nicoise salad. Everything was as if I had ordered it in Paris. Flavor profile perfect. Service wonderful. Presentation amazing. If you want a quick trip to Paris in Charleston go here!

Just ok. And for the price, it should really be better than that. The shrimp linguine was too salty and garlicky. The roast salmon was blah. Nothing spectacular. Even the salads and desserts were dull. Meh. Highlight was the interior. Very pretty room.

Excellent. No pressure. Five different entres: chicken, NY strip, swordfish, filet, & trigger fish. All were really good. Service was special, loved the bar area, not thrilled with the small portion of scotch with a golfball size ice cube.... Someday I'll find a friendly pour. Pricey but worth it.

This place is like stepping into a real French cafe. The ambience is so authentic and beautiful. It was a great spot for a celebratory lunch. The French onion soup was delicious and the croque Madame was one of the best I've ever had! The staff was on point and very professional. We were greeted by friendly hosts and our server was very knowledgeable and conscious of time. I will definitely be back!

This restaurant was a great find. I had the pork schnitzel and it was divine. The meal came with a light salad and a plateful of French fried. The salad was very tasty. The French fries were very comparable to ones that I had in Paris. The French fries were excellent. I would recommend this restaurant.

My first night in Charleston and my first dinner at BGG. I am a huge fan of salt but the dishes we ordered were so laden and encrusted with salt, it made the whole experience completely disappointing. I wish we didn't pick this restaurant.

Can't go wrong with this restaurant. Great service, food and atmosphere. I've been there twice and wasn't expecting lunch to be as good as the dinner but it was.

we decided to give B. GiGi a try to celebrate my wife's completion of her degree. We were 6, and it was for lunch so we started with champagne and the iced seafood tower: a variety of oysters and clams from around the country, mussels, shrimp, and a lobster claw. Several sauces completed the dish. it was a lot of food and i was extremely pleased with the presentation. the service was also excellent, even thought they were only open one week....no hiccups an the place was about 3/4 full...on to the food: the oysters, each with a distinctive regional flavor, were fantastic, as were the mussels. I am not normally one for clams, but sauces even made them enjoyable for me. My wife told be the lobster claw was excellent. I would not know because she did not share. Of course, everyone loved the shrimp. Moving to the main lunch course, i had moles frites, and again, the mussels were awesome. I asked for some french bread for dipping and then i asked for some more because it was that good. the bread is really a find compliment to the food. several ordered the duck comfit...and i stole some from my wife. incredible. i will get this next time. one ordered the salad nicoise....i will also get this next next time...seared tuna, anchovie, beans...a fantastic presentation. desert. french restaurant. nothing more needs to be said, other than, save room if at all possible. overall, we loved it. my wife said it was the perfect celebration of finishing her degree and the setting was outstanding, with fantastic decor, service, music, and most importantly, food. very impressive for the first week.

So far our best meal in Charleston. The best biscuits I've ever had. My wife had a delicious fish chowder and a beet, beef & blue salad which she loved. I had pork schnitzel and creme brulee - delicious. My wife had the sorbet trio which was equally delicious. Don't miss it if you visit.
